Hello and welcome to a very special edition of the PHNX D-Backs podcast right here on PHNX.
My name is Derek Montia, known around these parts as the mayor of PHNX.
And I am joined, of course, by my vice mayor, my friend, my co-host of the year, it's Thunderstick Jesse Friedman.
Wow, co-host of the year.
What an honor, Derek.
Out of all the other co-hosts, yeah.
Hey, I have a lot of other co-hosts to pick from.
I do shows a lot of a lot of people, Jay, Jim.
Jesse, I do a lot of shows.
I have a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, uh, a lot of, uh, a lot of, uh, a lot of, uh,
you drinking there, Derek.
No, no, no business.
Don't worry about it.
Okay.
All right.
Now, uh, of course, this show is brought to you by the draft king sportsbook app.
Go download the draft king sports book app now.
Use our code of pHNX and simply for betting $5 on your favorite NFL team to win.
It doesn't have to be your favorite.
It can be any NFL team.
But as long as that team wins, you will get $200 in free bets instantly.
then you go use your free bets and you bet that on more teams that might be your favorite teams or other teams you think are going to win.
And, you know, who knows?
It's, it's, I heard that girl on TV call it a cash roll one time and that's what you could be finding yourself in.
But again, our code is a PHNX.
Jesse, World Series has been exciting.
It has.
It has given, I think, you, everything you wanted.
You wanted close games.
You wanted some games where pitching mattered.
and we definitely got that.
But most importantly, it's been a back and forth affair.
We now sit with the Astros winning.
And I don't know, I guess you could say hypothetically taking back home field advantage
by not losing there in Atlanta.
And now the series goes on to Houston with the Astros down two games to three.
Braves, do you think the Braves are having any flashbacks from last season
when they were up 3-1 on the Dodgers and couldn't get the job done.
Well, I mean, I think fresher in their mind is that they just were up 3-1 on the Dodgers
and they did get the job done in the NLCS.
Good point.
Yeah, you know, hopefully the recency bias is working in their favor on that front.
But yeah, no, you're absolutely right.
This has been a lot of fun.
It looked for a moment there like the Atlanta Braves were about to win this thing in five games.
I mean, they scored four runs in the first inning.
of game five. And it was like, all right, well, for nothing. I mean, this might be it.
We might have a pretty quick battle here, which, I mean, would have been incredible for a
brave team that only won 88 games in the regular season. I mean, they have just completely
risen to every challenge that has been, that has come up for them throughout the series.
And unfortunately, things sort of unraveled for them over the course of this game.
This Astro's offense finally woke up. We've seen flashes here and there throughout the series,
but they hadn't really had like that big, big game.
And I mean, I guess they scored seven runs in game two so that we certainly saw a flash of it there.
But for the most part, the Astros haven't been scoring that many runs.
I mean, they scored two runs in game one.
They were shut out in game three, almost no hit in game three.
Ian Anderson threw a heck of a game there.
So the Braves are, you know, they're hanging in there.
But as you said, now we're going back to Houston.
This is getting a little dicey here for Atlanta, Derek, with two.
games on the road here. They only need to win one of them, but that's going to be a tall order,
nonetheless, playing in Houston. I'm excited just in general for the, for it to be a long series.
Like, I would love to see this go to seven games, to be honest. I still am definitely
favorting the Braves when it comes down to it. But I just think that there, I think there's a lot of
excitement in this. Like you said, for a minute there.
based on Jesse Friedman's rules of run scoring early and going ahead big.
I thought this one was a wrap last night.
I actually went trick-or-treating shortly after the Braves went up for nothing,
thinking that that was going to be how the game...
So it was your fault, Derek.
It was your fault.
I've been, let me tell you,
I have been called a jinx often enough now that I'm starting to believe it myself, Jesse.
Now, I don't, I might believe in curses, especially if you take your mascot's head and paraded around on social media.
But at times, I don't really believe in magic.
I don't believe in fairy tales.
And I don't believe me writing my article in the press box.
I don't believe that affects the game.
So I have-
Fresh off of Halloween, you're so sour on fairy tales and make-believe.
Wow.
I know, right?
A little more imagination.
Don't even get me started on Santa.
Don't even get me started on Santa.
Well, and I'll tell you this, I just find, I'll be honest, as a fan, I was one of those people that truly, and when I say this, I can't emphasize this enough, truly believed what I was doing affected the game.
Oh, yeah.
It didn't matter if that involved me standing in a certain spot like I did during the entire Super Bowl that the Arizona Cardinals participated in just because I thought that spot was lucky.
And I thought it was somehow bringing good luck to the team.
So I didn't sit down for the entire second half.
I am that guy, Jesse.
And I think after a while you start to realize maybe on occasion you might have been silly.
And then sometimes you were like, oh, yeah, no, I've grown up.
I've matured.
I have moved on past these childish beliefs that somehow me, a person watching in my home,
thousands of miles away, hundreds of miles or even 20 miles away from where this game is happening,
is affecting it in any way, shape, or form.
But before we get too far down the road of Derek has grown up,
I have to ask, what did you dress up as for Halloween yesterday?
Um, I was, uh, Adam, uh, Maitland from the movie Beetlejuice.
Okay.
Which I know for a fact you have not seen.
No, I have not.
Right.
And I swear to God, Jesse, I hate you so much sometimes when you tell me you haven't seen this stuff.
You make me feel old.
It's only going to get downhill from here.
Sad.
Oh, man.
I know.
It's going to get bad when we get on to the sitcoms thing.
But, um, yes, I was, uh, in the movie.
these, the Beetlejuice movie,
not to spoil anything for you,
but it's about a couple that dies.
And they go to the afterlife
and they don't really know
what to do with themselves.
And then when they return from the afterlife
and they've realized that they have died,
new people have moved into the house
that they once lived in.
Their house has been sold to a new family
who decide to do some construction on it
and make it like this
modern art nightmare kind of thing.
And the movie basically is about this couple trying to haunt the new owners of the home out of
the house so that they can live in peace in their home.
And the thing I was dressed up as was a failed attempt on their part to turn themselves
into scary monsters where one of the guy, Adam, one of the couple, the male in the
couple, put his hand in the back of his head and pulled his nose out and made,
himself look all weird and it didn't work because the living can't see the dead and it was
a futile effort but i'm not going to spoil this movie or how beetle juice gets involved but you need
to go see it i think you'd enjoy it a lot okay but uh yeah no i mean i back to the curse thing
uh i will say that even with as much as i've grown up i did spend uh the entire sun's
playoff run standing in places i thought were lucky spot so again
Have I grown up?
Absolutely not.
But maybe, maybe I was.
I said that the coyotes were going to win a game.
And the minute I said that, they lost two to one.
So, you know, sometimes you start to believe that maybe you are the jinx.
I don't know.
I can't argue it anymore.
But the Braves did take a drastic downturn after that.
Like you said, the Astros came roaring back.
It was a fun game.
I mean, Freddie Freeman, again, another guy that just continues to be.
the exact stud we knew he was in the playoffs.
Yeah, yeah.
But I mean, this,
this has just been a fun playoffs for the Atlanta Braves,
watching the Atlanta Braves,
seeing them,
have these guys step up in these different situations.
Obviously,
we have the situation that we need to address from last week
where the beautiful,
gorgeous Dansby Swanson
tied the game on a solo home run
that looked like it wasn't even going to go over the wall,
but somehow did.
And it,
once again just made me sad about what some people consider to be one of the worst trades in
debacks history. But you, Jesse Friedman, you don't because you're an optimist. I like you.
I don't know if I would like, yes, it's an absolutely horrible trade in retrospect. I'm not really
arguing that. My point about the Dansby Swanson trade has just been that if, if Shelby Miller had
actually been like the same guy that he was, then it's not.
really that bad. Like if Shelby Miller had come here for three years and been a number three
starting pitcher like he was in Atlanta, then the trade looks completely different. But no,
I'm not here. I'm not here, Derek, trying to say that that was a, that was a, you know, even an
average sort of that that was a, that was an unmitigated disaster. And, and, and for all the diamondbacks
fans out there feeling pain at Danesby Swan. Did you see like he was choking up and he went up,
like, I don't know if I've ever seen Danesby Swanson, uh, hit the ball that hard opposite field. And like
he said it was sort of a wall scraper.
Yeah.
But it was, I mean, it was, it was an impressive piece of hitting.
And I have to go back to really that game as a whole, game four, was interesting for
Diamondbacks fans for a number of reasons because our pal Zach Granky started the game.
That's right.
For the Houston Astros.
And he went four innings and didn't allow a run.
He looks pretty good.
Throwing those slow pitches.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, he was at the ripe old age of 38, Zach Granke.
still had a lot of success in game four on on the biggest stage.
Honestly, Derek, the game was kind of perfect for me in some ways.
Maybe aside from the Danes B Swanson thing,
because I really wanted to see Zach Grinkey do well.
I really wanted him to have this big moment.
You know, he's been hurt.
He's not stretched out.
He can't really be his full self here on the postseason stage.
But, but he pitched really well.
And not only did he pitch really well, Derek,
but he got himself a base hit.
And that pretty much made the entire game for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was pretty amazing.
He was out there on the base path, smiling and stuff.
It was great.
And then he pinched hit.
Yeah.
Was it loud yesterday?
I think it was yesterday.
In game six, he pinched it and had another single.
So he's two for three in the world series.
I love it.
It's just funny because it's, I guess we've come to think of it as like this novelty, right?
It's like a dog wearing a little hat.
It's adorable to see Zach Grinky hit hit, right?
But let's be honest, he's a good hitter.
And when you put a guy into pinch hit, you're hoping to get a single out of that.
You know, you're bringing someone cold.
There's a very, you know, low likelihood that they're going to be able to do something productive offensively.
And you're able to pull Zach Granky of all people off the bench to come in and pinch hit for you.
He's not a terrible, not a terrible outcome.
No, no, that's true.
And I have to say, I think it's, I tweeted this out too.
I think it is very possible that Zach Rinkie is a better hitter than Martin
Maldenado, who is the Houston Astros catcher.
And in game four, they, didn't he hit eighth in game four?
Yeah, yeah, he hit eight.
And I, and I tweeted out, I'm like, don't be fooled here.
This is, I don't think this is some sort of a gimmick, you know, where, you know,
we've seen teams do this before where you hit the pitcher eighth for, you know,
different reasons.
I think it's very possible that Zach Granky is just a better hitter than Martin Maldonado.
And you look at the numbers right now and they absolutely, they absolutely bear that out.
So good on Zach Granky for showing it off.
And I even saw him crack a little bit of a smile when he got on base one of those times.
Yeah, that's what I was saying, man.
I love seeing him smile when he's on base.
And I mean, I don't know, man.
That's a guy that I remember when he, there was a.
a lot of hubbub here when he showed up late in spring training.
And it's like, come on, man.
I think he was 36, 37 at the time.
You know, this is a guy that knows what he's doing, right?
Like we don't need bum gardeners and grankies to be showing up on day one of spring
training and do sprint and stuff.
We just don't.
I mean, I know it's good for the team to have everybody out there and have everybody
being equals and stuff like that.
But let's be honest, man, when you're a pitcher and you're an older pitcher,
and you have the pedigree, you have the history that those two guys have,
let's just let them do their own thing.
You know, like, they know what works, they know what doesn't work.
They know what they're going to ask the team and the trainers and people to do.
But, I mean, if these guys want to come in spring training halfway into it,
I'm not mad about that one bit.
Do you, do you, my question on that note is do you,
Are you saying you view Madison Bumgarner and Zach Granky sort of in the same?
I mean, obviously, I think we can all agree Granky has been the better pitcher for the last several years.
But like in terms of just respect, like you don't have to show up, you know, you can kind of do it your own way.
We trust you sort of a deal.
Do you view Bumgarner in the same way?
I do.
I think so.
I mean, think about his history, his postseason history, his championship history, his years of consistency with the giants.
And even, you know, he had a rough 2020, but so did a lot of players and a lot of people on the devax.
You know, there's a lot, there was a lot of, you know, there was a lot of adapting to this team.
Obviously, things didn't start out well for him.
Last year didn't go great.
Even this year didn't start out great at all.
I think we finally saw someone start to get comfortable when he started to have that,
not just success, but the consistent success with this team, right?
It wasn't it wasn't blowing anything away, but I think he was back on track for how he prepares and and how he does conducts business.
I just think that there's a certain if it's not broke, don't fix it kind of attitude.
I think people should have towards older athletes, you know, not a lot of sports have older athletes the way that baseball does.
pitchers have a long, you know, life.
It's like get your kid to be an MLB pitcher or an NFL kicker and they'll be set for life.
That's the two jobs that they should have, right?
But I'm just saying like that that definitely is something that I don't need.
I mean, maybe they need it.
But again, that's something that they're going to know, right?
If they feel like the extra rest and starting later in something like spring training is actually better for them,
then so be it.
I understand, especially with pitchers,
they have to get stretched out and there's a whole process.
It's the reason why pitchers and catchers start before the rest of the position players.
It's just,
I do put Granky and Bumgarner in those categories that these guys come from a different time.
And they still somehow continue to have success this long into their career
that not a lot of pitchers are able to maintain.
They know what they're doing.
And again, if there's a problem, then, you know, then then, then you can step in.
If they're not doing well, then I mean, that might not be the best idea.
But I think that it's still in my opinion that Bum Gardner was a victim of too much information.
And I think that hopefully whoever they have in as a new pitching coach for the debacks will have the same approach that Joe Mathers seems to have as a hitting coach where he wants to really simplify it.
for a lot of these guys and you think that that is the best way to get batters, you know,
dialed in and ready to go versus a very complex plan on, you know, approaches at the plate.
Yeah. No, I mean, I see what you're saying. I mean, Bumgarner obviously has had his track record
sort of speaks for itself in some ways. Obviously, the last couple years haven't been quite as good,
but it's hard not to respect a guy who has, you know, carried his team into the world's
series three times in the last, you know, decade essentially.
So plus,
Mason Saunders has offseason work that he has to conduct.
So again, that's something that we also have to be very worried about is how many,
you know,
calf roping titles can he bring home?
You might not be bringing home calf roping towels,
but you can bring home that sweet, sweet cash using the draft king sportsbook app
yourself.
You can go download it and use our code of pHNX.
And simply for betting $5 on any NFL team to win, you will get $200 in free
as long as that team actually wins.
Now, I've, I bet times urged you guys to bet on the Cardinals,
and then other times I've tried to tell you to stay away.
You do what you want to do next week.
We have some bad news, some injuries.
JJ Watt appears to be out for the year.
So I don't know what you want to do.
But the other thing I've been encouraging you to do is bet against the coyotes.
Go on there.
Just that puck line is always a goal of a half.
I know they didn't come through for us by only losing by one goal on Saturday or Sunday.
But, you know, it was Sunday on Halloween.
Pricking coyotes.
Come on.
Lose by two or more.
Anyway, remember.
And they were going up against an undefeated Carolina Hurricanes team.
So I thought that that was a sure bet.
They did lose, but they didn't lose by two goals.
But you can bet on that.
You can bet on same game parleyes.
Again, I'm Mr. Parlay as well as the mayor, as well as all the other hats I wear.
but on the parley's you can combine multiple bets from the same game for a bigger payout the more legs you add the more money you win one thing i like doing is sometimes just staying away from the score staying away from a decision on who's going to win and just going more at a stats you can take how many yards qbis are going to throw uh you can take the first team to score like 15 points like i did in my la rams texans parlay this past weekend that i won that i won that i won't stop talking about i'm not i'm never going to shut up about it it was a brilliant parlay and i nail
it and I won my money. And you can too on the Draft King Sportsbook app. Remember it's safe,
secure, and reliable. Best of all, you can deposit and withdraw your cash whenever you want.
That code again was PHNX. That'll get you those $200 in free bets for betting $5
on any NFL team to win as long as they win their game. 21 and over only, Arizona only,
gambling problem, dial 1,800 next step, new customers only, eligibility restrictions apply.
See draftkings.com slash sportsbook for details. And Jesse, this is a special
extra episode of the show for a couple of reasons.
The first one being, we wanted to talk about World Series,
and we didn't get a chance to do so yesterday.
On the Monday Mailbag episode, Mailbag Monday was a precedent.
We had to answer questions,
so we didn't get our two cents in on the weekend that was the World Series.
But we also had a question that was so good.
I needed to carry it over to another show and do a little bit longer of a segment on it.
And that that question comes from our friend Tyler at Legend of Tyler.
He is the Legend of Tyler.
And he asked one very simple question or not even a question.
He just, it's a statement.
He said, compare the 2021 D-BACs to a sitcom.
Which one are they?
And Jesse, I know you're a huge sitcom guy.
I'm a huge sitcom guy.
Oh, no, you're the opposite.
You don't ever watch sitcoms at all.
Okay, I have watched sitcoms, all right?
I don't want to overblow this for you.
Like, what's one of your favorite sitcoms that you've watched in the past?
It doesn't have to be recent.
It could have been like when you were younger or whatever.
Okay, sure, sure.
All right, so when I was growing up, when I was in, like, junior high high school, I watched a lot of psych.
That was, that was my TV show.
I love psych.
Syke was pretty good, yeah.
Let's see what else is there.
I mean, I've seen a lot of the classic ones that people talk about, right?
Like parks and wreck in the office.
Oh, God.
When you said, see, I hate you again because you make me.
You said a lot of the classic ones.
And I'm like, all right.
Yeah, like he's going to say like, I love Lucy.
And he's going to say like, you know, obviously like family ties and stuff from the.
Yeah.
No, no, you went right for shows that I watched when they were brand new and said they were like old classics in a way.
So that hurts my feelings.
But that's fine.
It's fine.
I will say that I would definitely compare,
I could compare it to one of my favorite shows.
And that show,
and I know you,
I know you've never seen this show.
And I'm fine with it.
It doesn't hurt my feelings.
You doubt me, Derek.
I do doubt you.
But have you ever seen a show called it's always sunny in Philadelphia?
Jesse?
No, no.
Okay.
Yeah.
So it's always sunny in Philadelphia.
It kind of follows a gang of, as they describe it,
narcissistic friends who run an Irish bar in South Philadelphia.
And they have an amazing series of episodes.
The show started out as being kind of topical.
You know, they would cover like kind of in a funny way,
modern topics like the gas shortage and gun crisis and just all sorts of stuff,
Right. But they always did it in a very kind of a dark comedy way.
Danny DeVito is a part of the show.
He plays like a kind of their dad, but not really, and kind of one of the guys' dads.
But the reason why it reminds me of the Arizona Diamondbacks is this, Jesse.
Every episode, the gang or members of the gang, whether it's Dennis,
or Mac or Charlie,
they all tend to always think of themselves as the hero in every situation.
You know,
they always,
they,
they try to put themselves in a position where they are,
like,
looking like the,
you know,
like,
like,
like the good people when at the end of the day,
uh,
they're just failing miserably.
Uh,
and they're just trying way too hard,
uh,
to,
to,
done sometimes through like pettiness and and just terrible ideas they're always inflicting pain
on each other either emotional or actual physical pain and injuring each other and I can't
think of any other show really that best describes the Arizona Diamondbacks 2021 season from
the physical pain to failing at everything that you were trying too hard to this notion that
that somehow we're the hero of this story when we're not when we're the 52 and 110 lost season, you know,
I'm not going to say that the Diamondbacks as a team are as terrible, uh, dishonest and unethical
as the folks in this show. But what I am going to say is that, um, they, they always, like,
it always seems like they have good intentions and that everything just falls apart, right? And, like,
that's to me is the Arizona
Diamondbacks just not this season like all the time
right like they're
they're not I don't feel like at times they're
trying to
like make these big
moves and have things
fall apart the way that
they do when you go back and you look at
what a big deal they made of like the Bronson
Arroyo signing or the
mess that was Yosmani Tomas
or you know
arguably even Granky and
Bubb Gardner right like when they go out and they make
these huge moves and pay these guys all this money.
They think they think they're,
they think they're being the good guys and they think they're,
they're doing something like really noticeable and like,
yeah,
this is going to be great for the team.
And then it just ends up all going south on them.
And that's,
uh,
that's every episode of it's always sunny in Philadelphia.
Okay.
All right.
They never come out on top.
They never,
they never win.
There's never any wins for this group of people.
All right.
All right.
Um,
all right.
You're,
you're,
you're ready for that?
You ready for this, Derek?
I am going to blow your mind.
I'm excited.
I'm sure.
Let's go.
All right.
Have you ever seen Brooklyn 9-9?
Yes.
I love Brooklyn 9-9.
Okay.
All right.
Yeah, so I watched a lot of Brooklyn 9-9 last summer.
Okay.
And, and yeah.
99.
Yeah, yeah.
I feel like Captain Holt is just like, just solid, you know?
Just a good leader, like knows how to manage the people underneath him.
And there's some talent.
Like, there's some talent in that room.
Jake Peralta is like pretty savvy and Amy San Diego like, you know, chronic overachiever type
and Rosa and, you know, Terry Cruz, you know, I mean, there's a lot of good things happening
there. But unfortunately, they're just like, they're just always like too goofy and they just
don't really manage to get anywhere. And it reminds me of all of those videos that the diamond
backs made at the beginning of the year when every time they would win, they threw this
dance party thing and now we laugh about that thinking back and it's like yeah like there is some
talent they had a good leader right tori lebello we talked about it yeah i don't think he was the problem
the problem here just like captain holt solid leader uh but yeah they just had a hard time really
getting the kind of results they were looking for seems like if you gave him a different precinct other
than the nine nine he would uh oh yeah yeah oh that's good that's good but of course for every
Santiago, there is a sculley and a Hitchcock, right? And, yeah, I mean, even a Gina Lennedy that
where the hell did she go? I love Gina. Gina's so funny in Brooklyn Nine-nine. She's my favorite.
Yeah, I mean, you're absolutely right, though. That's a great comparison. And I'm very proud of you
for that one. Mostly because I love that show and I see exactly what you're seeing there.
And, you know, the thing, the thing there about Brooklyn Nine-N-9 is, uh,
Yeah, it's a good group of people.
They like each other a lot.
But are they the best precinct?
It's questionable, right?
Yeah.
Comes down to the Arizona Diamondbacks, right?
The Arizona Diamondbacks, definitely, we've talked about that before with Tori Lovolo.
I hate, and I hate to say that.
Like, it's such a, it sounds like I'm bagging on this entire team and blaming the players and everything.
And I don't.
I just think that they don't have enough talent to compete.
And I think, I don't think anybody's going to disagree with that.
And yeah, I would say that about Captain Holt.
He just doesn't quite have enough talent to compete, you know.
Yeah, there you go.
But you can compete.
Again, go download the Draft King's Sportsbook app.
Use our code of PHNX and you can get some skin in the game.
You can get $200 and free bets for betting $5 on any NFL team to win,
as long as that team actually does that, unlike both the Dymax and the cast of Brooklyn
99.
But you can get yours.
And again, there's so many different options.
Check it out.
Bet how you want to bet.
And, yeah, bet on the coyotes to lose.
I guarantee you.
You won't be disappointed.
You'll be disappointed sometimes,
but more often than not, you won't be disappointed.
I have to give a shout out, by the way,
to the coyote's goalie.
The people at the P. H.NX.
Coyote show are going to kill me
because I can't even think of his name off the top of my head.
But this man is facing nearly 40 shots a night.
So the fact that he's only giving.
up two goals in a game against the team like the Carolina hurricane is pretty damn good.
He, he again, much like Holt, the coyote's goalie is out there all by himself.
But yeah, I mean, I don't know, man.
I'd say that another show I kind of have to compare the debacks to is, and someone brought
this up, they brought up Seinfeld, right?
And I'm not, I'm not going to take any wild swings here about the Seinfeld.
Like, I will say that Seinfeld is a show about nothing, but lots of things happen.
Sure.
And for me, that's probably the best description about the 20, 21 season for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It was a season about nothing.
But you can't deny all the things that happened, right?
it's a meaningless season.
At the end of the day, you can lose 152 games.
You know, you could set history in the worst way.
It still doesn't get you any further or any, you know, closer than a team that just missed the playoffs, right?
The point is, you played 162 games and you couldn't get the job done to get into the playoffs.
And I don't know.
I mean, yeah, it sucks to lose 110 games.
It really does.
but I think that if you you know there are still a lot of positives that can come out of it from having the second draft pick to the two no hitters that we had this season you could call this a season about nothing and it would totally describe it but at the same time lots of exciting things happen and lots of fun things happen and they're going to continue to happen I don't want to get too positive for the future because it's hard to with this team but let's be honest this team is going to continue to
get better. And we're going to see new stars popping up. We're going to have more
Perdomos. We're going to have more Seth Beers. We're going to have more great stories like
Henry Ramos. And I can't wait for it. I really can't. I think that as much as people want to be
negative about this team, I feel like we hit rock bottom. I feel like we did. That's one word for it.
Yeah. Right. And there's got there's got to be a time eventually where you say there's
nowhere we can go, but up. This franchise isn't the Baltimore Orioles.
they're not going to stay down at the bottom it's not going to happen i don't believe that they're
that kind of team i know it's going to be hard because this n o west isn't going to go anywhere they're
going to continue to be good it's just you know you got to take those few positive things that
happen and and make the best out of them you know especially in a season like this so there were some fun
there were some fun moments man i mean we've got we got two no hitters we've got uh some fun walk-off
here and there, not too many, but a few.
The debuts were fun.
Seth Beer hitting a home run in his first.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Like I said earlier, Henry Ramos's story and just how he played at the end of this season.
You know, I don't know if he's going to continue to be with this team or if he goes elsewhere,
but I think he's going to continue to be a big leader.
I think he earned it with the way he played here at the end.
So a lot of great stories happen.
And I feel like this really is the start of, you know, some hopeful things to come, right?
But at the same time, too, much like the, much like Seinfeld, I feel like the season ended with the Arizona Diamondbacks sitting in a jail cell waiting to see if they're actually going to have to spend all of this time in prison for their past transgression.
So hopefully they don't.
Hopefully they don't have as many people come out and testify against them as the old Seinfeld.
