Starting point is 00:00:07 Hello and welcome to the PHNX DBAX podcast right here on PHNX. My name is Derek Montia, occasionally known as the mayor of PHNX. And occasionally, I'm known as someone who is going to scream about MLB negotiations on this podcast tonight. Joining me, of course, is the more level-headed member of this duo. It's my friend, my co-host, the vice mayor of PHNX, the one and only Jesse Friedman. I'm kind of with you, Derek. I don't, you know that of the two of us, you're probably the more likely one to scream on the air. Sure.
Starting point is 00:00:46 But this is puzzling what's going on. I mean, I guess in some ways it's not necessarily the most unexpected thing just because we're getting into the holiday season. And there really isn't, I mean, in the minds of the owners and the players, in some ways, there's not really much of an advantage to getting a deal done, you know, around now as opposed to maybe a month from now. I feel like they're not really that concerned about it. They have bigger fish to fry. And, you know, what that means is that they're looking to get something in these negotiations. They're after something. They each have things that they're interested in in pursuing. And they're not really going to rest until they get that. And neither side is getting anywhere close to what they want in how the current negotiations, um, have played out. So that's that's kind of what we're looking at here. I'm going to start off by asking the question, Jesse. Does baseball even want to end the lockout? Do they even give a shit about it ending? Because per a sports illustrated article by Stephanie Epstein, according to two people familiar with the process entering Thursday, which would be today,
Starting point is 00:01:55 the league and the union have not met since the collective bargaining agreement expired. at 11.59 p.m. on December 1st. Jesse, I have, I believe I have defended Rob Manfred before because I feel like he somehow gets this bad rap as being, you know, a terrible commissioner. But I'm starting to get on the Rob Manfred is a terrible commissioner train. I'm starting to look, I'm looking at tickets. I'm looking to book a ticket on that train because I feel like I might be interested in taking that journey. He spewed a lot of a garbage about being available and wanting to talk. And in reality, nothing is getting done, right? Like you said, baseball of all sports planned their season better than any other athletic event possibly could. They gave themselves Halloween off most years. they gave themselves the entire month of November off, December and January.
Starting point is 00:03:05 They're spending the holiday seasons at home with their families, cozy by the fire, having a good time. Baseball has a great schedule. I think part of it, like you said, is the fact that this is the time of the year where they don't do anything at all anyway, regardless of if they were in a lockout, regardless of the $1.5 billion spent in free agency as these teams rushed to get it done prior to this date. But it really is starting to feel like baseball, especially the owners,
Starting point is 00:03:37 don't want to end the lockout. It feels like the owners have all the leverage here. Baseball could have potentially seen a strike. But apparently the lockout was a way to prevent the strike from happening. And there wasn't a very strong case for the players going on strike anyway. So it's questionable if they were even going to go that route. now here we are with the owners making the decision to proceed with the lockout and all of this talk about talking is just talk because there no one's talking it's all talk jesse it's all talk about talk and they're not they're not doing that they're not talking it really is it really is i mean i think at this point it's pretty clear that that this is politics in some ways right it's it's each side i mean it's it's kind of like a like a staring contest to see who blinks first, right?
Starting point is 00:04:32 Exactly. It's, yeah, it's basically a stare down to see, all right, who's going to start to compromise first. And the players don't want to compromise and the owners don't want to compromise. And they also probably want to enjoy the holiday season. And so what you wind up with is a bunch of people who are just probably going to kind of call this off for the next couple weeks and, you know, do things with their families. I have heard, you know, there are some. things happening, not on the core economic issues, but there have been some conversations around other things that are maybe a little bit, you know, maybe not quite as far up high on the agenda.
Starting point is 00:05:09 But you're absolutely right there. Who's having those conversations, though? Are those conversations just being had internally on one side of them trying to get their requests? I think I've heard that I've seen reports that the two sides have talked about some of those things, but they're not getting at the part of the issues here. And until until they're willing to go there, nothing really productive is going to happen. Because the other issues are just not as important and they're not really the reason for the lockout in the first place. Right. And I get what you're saying. Really at the core economic structure is the reason for the lockout. And that's the bigger deal. But that's a whole other thing that we're going to discuss momentarily. My bigger thing is some of that those stipulations,
Starting point is 00:05:55 some of those requests that the sides have wanted are absurd players in the last CBA gave up like huge contribute you know like they they negotiated and they gave up huge things they wanted in exchange for nothing in exchange for extra buses or extra extra seats on the bus or bigger buses or whatever right like the last CBA you're right there were not many changes and it's funny if you go back to an article that Jeff Passon wrote at the time when the previous CBA went into effect. He literally spelled out that we're set up for a mess of a negotiation in 2021. And that is happening right before our very eyes right now. Another thing that's happening right before our very eyes right now is Johnny
Starting point is 00:06:43 venerable's son from the P.HNX Cardinals podcast apparently has a hold of his phone. And his son is a very young, adorable child. and apparently he is FaceTiming our boss, Saul, who's on vacation on his honeymoon right now, just FaceTiming him over and over again. And I get to see these messages and I find it hilarious. And I just needed to bring you guys in on it. If you're a fan of the PHNX, D-Backs,
Starting point is 00:07:09 or I'm sorry, Sun's podcast, that's what's going on in Saul's life right now. So Saul is getting FaceTime right now by Johnny's son just repeatedly. And I just, I love that. This is my family, guys. I haven't met Johnny's son, but based on what I know about Johnny, being repeatedly FaceTime by his son actually sounds like a pretty hilarious story. Like an adorable experience.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Yeah, yeah. While we're on the topic of our PHNX family, I do unfortunately want to send my heartfelt condolences on behalf of Jesse and myself to our friend Petey from the PHNX Coyotes podcast who recently lost his father. And we just wanted to tell you, hey, we love you, PD. And, you know, we, we know that this isn't easy, but we wish you the best. And I hope you can be strong for your family. And, you know, I saw the videos today that they posted and definitely was a beloved individual.
Starting point is 00:08:08 So the world lost a great man. And, you know, we love you, PD. So we would just want to send you our wishes here as well. Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. And that's in between me, of course, screaming about baseball. But I think, I think PD would appreciate that, quite frankly. But, you know, when we talked again about some of the things that the union wants, what the players want, you know, some of these, when you really take a look at it,
Starting point is 00:08:37 some of these issues, as brought up in this piece on Sports Illustrated, were things that neither side was never going to go for. The union was never going to make players free agents for the first time in their career at 29 and a half years old. Yeah. When you think about that, that's just fucking ridiculous to think about you can be a free agent for your first time at 30. I understand baseball is a, you know, it's a different sport.
Starting point is 00:09:09 It's different than any other sport. You have these guys, they spend the majority of their 20s in the, you know, in the minor leagues without ever making it out. Sometimes no matter how good they are. Sometimes it's just based on certain regressions and the fact, you know, not everybody's going to be Bryce Harper. And even Bryce Harper spent his fair share of time in the minor leagues before coming up. So, you know, it's one thing to say that they want a little bit more time at a major league level. It's understandable as an owner of a team. But it's also fully ridiculous to expect players for for their first time that they can be a free agent would be essentially at 30 years old.
Starting point is 00:09:52 One thing I will say, I will say on this is I don't necessarily want to defend the owners here, but it's important to point out that on average, players currently hit free agency for the first time after 29.5. I know it sounds late in your career, but you need six years of service time. And most players don't get to the big leagues at 23 and a half, you know? Right. So from the majority of players under the 29 and a half rule, they actually would reach free agency earlier than they, then they would otherwise. But the issue is, is that you're, you're basing that on average. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:10:31 That's not necessary. There's also guys like Carlos Correa who would be under contract for, you know, eight years before they hit free agency. And that's, and that's ridiculous. And the problem is Carlos Correa, he's the one who's making all the money, right? he's pacing the market. So that's why the players are so against this idea, because the guys who really pace the market for everyone else, those are the guys who are reaching free agency a little bit earlier. And that's the problem for them here. Also, another no go most likely was that they wanted to allocate bonus money to young players by taking it away from their future pension that
Starting point is 00:11:08 they would receive. And again, man, that's like Robin Peter to pay Paul. That seems like It kind of seems like that seems like the whole, you know, what we talked about with the training or the loan system for young players where they can essentially agree to give a certain percentage of future earnings to this company that will loan them money for housing and for food and all that. And prior to this change that Major League Baseball made this year where they will be taking care of the housing for their minor league players, that was a big deal. You know, these guys don't make very much money and the money they do make, they don't
Starting point is 00:11:49 have the money to eat well and have good accommodations and train, you know, and someone like Fernando Tatis Jr., who did take that kind of deal at a young age, not only scored with a huge contract, so it did essentially pay off for him, but, you know, he kind of bet on himself in a way. The only crazy part about it is it's a percentage of future earnings and with how much that guy makes, that company got paid out. It paid off for them too. Absolutely. You know, but one thing I will tell you that we'll pay off is if you go over to the Draft King's Sportsbook app right now, you use our code of PHNX and simply for betting $1 on any NFL team to score, which, by the way, it's been a very long time since they haven't scored in a game. You will get $100
Starting point is 00:12:37 in free bets instantly, as long as that team scores any points. You've seen the commercial field goal, safety by the deal. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. If they score one point, which is pretty impossible in football, I don't think they can. But if they somehow score one point, you get that $100 in free bets. And then you take your free bets. And then you go over and you start playing on some same game parlayas.
Starting point is 00:13:00 You combine multiple bets from the same game for a bigger payout. Even combine multiple games. Get yourself a nice. a nice seven, eight game parlay, like my friend Jared hit this weekend, didn't have to, you know, really risk too much in order for that to pay out pretty nicely for him. So remember, the more legs you add, the more money you win. Draft Kings is safe, secure, and reliable. Best of all, you can deposit, withdraw your cash whenever you want.
Starting point is 00:13:26 So download that Draft King SportsP app and use our code of PHNX to get that $100 in free bets instantly. Remember, Draft King's Sportsbook is an official sports betting partner of the NFL. 21 and over only Arizona only gambling problem dial 100 next step new customers only eligibility restrictions apply see draftkings.com slash sportsbook for details and I'm still stuck on this Jesse I don't even
Starting point is 00:13:48 what are we even doing here what are even doing here per another article on the athletic the two sides the owners and the union aren't expected to even discuss the game's core economic structure until some time in January.
Starting point is 00:14:07 Right. So that's, when they say that, that's not even, that's not even these extra stipulations and the changes to the game that they, they want to make. That, that, that's mainly the meat and potatoes of what they're concerned about here, right? Is the core economic structure. It's, uh, it's a mess, Derek. But the good news is that it will all be over by January. You're so full of shit, Jesse. I swear to God.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I can't, I can't believe. that you addressed this before I did. I had it on the rundown. I think your January 28 date is in jeopardy. Quite frankly, I think a lot of things are in jeopardy. I think the pitchers and catchers, I think my date's in jeopardy. I think Valentine's Day is in jeopardy for a lot of wives
Starting point is 00:14:53 of MLB player union members and maybe even some owners. They're not going to have a fun time around that time. Yeah. We get to Valentine's Day and a new deal isn't done. that's when I won't that that's when I can't hear that they're not talking if we're to pitchers and catchers reporting and you tell me that they're still not close on a deal or they still haven't come to terms on a core economic structure the the season is indeed in jeopardy right I don't know what part we can't figure out what part just yet right but once you start
Starting point is 00:15:25 cutting into that pitchers and catchers reporting time now you're now now now you're impacting at least spring training at the very least because those pitchers and catchers are still going to get their little bit of time before the regular position players show up, then they're all going to have some time together to work out and train before they start playing games. It's just the way baseball needs to work.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Unfortunately, just like when they're injured, it's not something that they could just come back from being injured, feel better, and start playing baseball the next day. Typically, they have to literally go start in games at minor league level or on the back lot or, you know, it's simulation games wherever
Starting point is 00:16:00 in order to get themselves ready to play, this game at the major league level again. So it feels like, it feels like, I hate to say it. You know, I don't want to discredit you, but it feels like your gait might be bullshit. I'm starting to think you maybe, maybe don't know what you were talking about. You said that so nicely, Derek. You're like, I don't, I don't want to discredit you.
Starting point is 00:16:25 No, I don't. I don't want to say you're a liar. I don't want to say that you're a fraud, like Johnny Venerable's son would probably tell saw on a facetime call but i do want to say i believe your january 28th date is definitely in jeopardy yeah we'll see derrick we'll see i i still feel confident personally so you know i'm not i'm not too too worried about it but uh but you're right i mean january is going to roll around and it sounds like not much we're not going to be in a very different place on january 1st as we are right now from what we're hearing.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It is lockout season, yes. And, and yeah, I mean, there's a lot, there's a long road ahead here in these, in these negotiations. What I can say is that once they get close to February 1st, things I think are going to change in a hurry, just in terms of the motivation level of each side to get this done. Because the moment that date gets pushed back,
Starting point is 00:17:25 the pitchers and catchers report, you're talking about owners, losing money, you're talking about players losing money. And, you know, they're going to play the long game, right? Like, they're more concerned about the long term structure of how they're earning money in the long term, at least from the player standpoint. Yeah, like it's worth sacrificing this amount of time. Yeah. Yeah. They, you know, they're willing to sacrifice a couple weeks of pay right now to get that done. But I do think that both sides are going to have way more motivation as the date gets closer. And the reality is right now there just isn't much motivation, right? This is,
Starting point is 00:18:01 this is like, this is like in college, at least this is how it was for me, Derek. But it's like that group project that's due like a month and a half away, right? Like your teacher gives you the assignment super early. And at some point, you're going to have to meet up with your group members and figure out what you're going to do. But like, you're not going to meet up with your group members in like week one or week two. You're going to meet up. Yeah. No, yes you are. Jesse. See, this is the exact lack of planning I'm not talking about. You need to meet up with them right away. You need to get on the same page.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Were you that kind of college student? Oh, man. Let me tell you, I was not. Because of my failures at failing to prepare, much like our pal Richard Williams said in the King Richard movie, you prepare to fail. And I started realizing it's like my Christmas strategy, Jesse. People think I'm crazy. People think I'm crazy. they're like they're they're either very mad at me for getting my Christmas shopping done early and throwing it.
Starting point is 00:19:00 That's me. That's me because I haven't started and it's December 16th. Amazon has a delivery workload right now. Exactly. Exactly. Or they're telling me I'm crazy for doing that early. Very few people appreciate it. Very few people go, well done, Derek. Good job. Way to not be a, you know, last minute shopper kind of. Yeah, we just all hate you. I know. That's what it comes down to, right? it didn't start out that way. It started out with me stopping at Walgreens on the way to my brother's house to buy my fucking niece a gift.
Starting point is 00:19:32 And then me feeling like a scumbag for doing that and being like, I'm never going to, I don't want to be this person. Okay. The real question here, Derek, is what did you buy your niece at Walgreens? Ah, man, let me tell you. Okay. So Walgreens has a very small, but a very efficient toy section. You cannot go here in Phoenix, I'm going to tell you right now, avoid your super
Starting point is 00:19:54 markets, your supermarkets aren't going to do anything for you. If you're not going to a Target or Walmart, I'm telling you your last minute toy shopping cannot be done at a fucking grocery store. You need to go at least to Walgreens. It's a small section, Jesse. It's probably the size of like my arm width, right? Yeah. They have quality toys there.
Starting point is 00:20:13 You're getting Transformers. You're getting LOL dolls. You're getting games, puzzles, action figures, stuff like that. And you're not getting the copycat. You're getting at the store. And you guys all know what I'm talking about copycat action figures. But this is the reason why I've learned how bad it can be. So I choose to learn from my mistakes in the past and make myself a better person.
Starting point is 00:20:33 We should all grow and be better, right? So baseball, yeah, this is their first work stoppage in what, 26 years or whatever. It's still a goddamn work stoppage. It's still something completely that isn't needed. And it's still something that can ruin people's interest in this sport. I am not directly saying at times that the, by the way, I failed to bring this up. But shout out to Brett Johnson.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Oh my gosh. Brett Johnson is here. Our buddy's here. Mayor of Thundersick, let's go. We've officially ghosted all of the comments. Yeah, we did. We did. We apologize.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Brett's talking about Rob, used two baseballs, man, Fred. Yeah, no, I'm with you, Rob. We had Anthony Rizzo pointed out the difference in the baseballs, by the way, that he thought it was noticeable this last season. And I don't know why he's coming out with that. Like, it's some sort of controversial thing now. Nor, I'm also curious.
Starting point is 00:21:23 how people are interviewing Anthony Rizzo, but that's a whole other thing, because I thought we're not allowed to talk to those people during this period of time. So we'll see what happens. But I don't know. I mean, look at what the Red Sox are doing, right? Red Sox spent all of yesterday
Starting point is 00:21:35 fucking making Pedro Martinez's bubble bigger. Right here, for every 100 likes this get, we'll make Pedro's bubble bigger. Yeah, did it get out of control? Of course it got out of control. Of course it got out of control. How out of control it got? You know, this is the internet.
Starting point is 00:21:50 So it got really fucking out of control. got 20,000 likes. So this is where we're at. This is what we're doing on the internet now. This is how we're entertaining people. Because again, going back to this entire situation, the union and the players, union and the owners have not even sat down once
Starting point is 00:22:12 to have a discussion since the collective bargaining agreement. And I know what you're saying earlier. Side conversations are happening. People are still talking. It's kind of like this whole thing with baseball. we can't talk to certain individuals because they are not, you know, they're MLB employees. So we can't have them on this show as guest. But I can still talk to him.
Starting point is 00:22:35 He's still a human being that exists and we message each other. So, you know, there's things like that going on that I'm sure those kind of sidebar conversations are happening. And I'm sure there are still things being worked on, you know, how close are you guys on this? Maybe you guys think maybe you could, you know, not want to. do this or whatever. And yeah, and there's still a lot of
Starting point is 00:22:57 things to iron out, but it's very concerning to me that the main focus here being the core economic structure it's not even going to get looked at until, until they're like, until, you know, New years comes and goes, until three Kings Day has come and gone. They're
Starting point is 00:23:13 cleaning up, you know, later. Maybe they'll get around to it. I don't know. It sounds like you know, like my winter chores, you know, like I'll get around to it eventually. We'll get around to, resuming baseball eventually, but I'm not so sure about that. We do tell you this much, though. You can go on to go phtonx.com and read about other sports because those are happening,

You can either become an annual member and you will get the free t-shirts from the p.nx locker.com. They're wonderful, wonderful t-shirts. Starting point is 00:23:58 only discount you'll also get access to our members only discord uh and you can go in and uh please if if you're a fan of the coyotes podcast uh leave leave pia a lovely message and let him know we're all thinking about them around here but um somebody that america is thinking about and has on their minds jesse is show hey otani of course it's it's he's on my it i dream about him every single night, but per recent tabulation by sports reference, the entire entity that baseball reference is a part of, we're going to take a look at the most popular player pages on their website by state. This is fascinating.
Starting point is 00:24:38 This is fascinating. A couple of things I find fascinating here. How often Hank Aaron shows up here as far as the number one, like what are these players look like shoeless Joe Jackson what is going on with some of these you know looking up these are these are looking up stats on baseball reference like shoeless Joe Jackson holy shit yeah everyone in Tennessee they just can't get enough and I don't get this whole Whit Merrifield contingent over here that boggles my mind too I mean it kind of makes sense right Kansas City right there yeah well again this is I don't think this is an indictment of Arizona or any of these states when it comes to
Starting point is 00:25:28 Shohei Otani dominating so much of America, right? I think that he is an absolutely incredible player. He is a phenom. He's unlike anything we've ever seen. And that's, and that's just his stats, right? Like that's just, that's just the fact that he's a pitcher that does all of this. And it's, you know, again, just to give you an idea, if you remove Eduardo Escobar out of the equation as not being a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks any longer, Shea-O-Ha-O-Tani had more home runs alone than our top three home-run hitters combined.
Starting point is 00:26:06 He also pitches, I'm told you. And he also pitches pretty goddamn good, too, right? I think the thing that I found to be incredible about him is that, and I, and I, I, you know, It's the only way I can put it. He's adorable. Shohei Otani is adorable. He is just so wholesome. He is like innocence personified as a baseball player.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Other other players that I find to be entertaining or funny are usually that, right? Like they're usually kind of a class clown type. They're Josh Colemanter, you know, Josh Coleman. Yeah, there you go. A hilarious individual, right? And it almost seemed like when he was a member of this team, he was doing it so that he could secretly get like a sitcom gig or something like everything he did was funny and he's just actively a funny person but show hey is different show hey is like not trying to be that
Starting point is 00:27:03 he's just literally being himself and himself is like this version of a kid grown like big with tom hanks another movie i'm sure you've never seen uh i knew it but you know in in the story of big jesse it's about a kid goes to a Zoltar machine at an arcade and he's tired of being like because he's even short and small for his age. So he wishes to be big and the machine grants his wish and he becomes an adult, not just big, but he becomes a full grown man, Tom Hanks. And then the movie is about, you know, a child being in a man's body and trying to like be an adult, right, as a child. It's a great movie. It's an all-time classic. You got the big piano scene, right? I'm sure you've seen that. where he's playing chopsticks on a piano with his, no,
Starting point is 00:27:52 God, I fucking hate you. You make me feel so old. Okay. But, you know what I mean? There's, uh,
Starting point is 00:27:58 there's this legitimate like innocence to him. And that's kind of what. He's a great guy. He's a great guy. And he really is. And so I don't know. We, we started off this conversation a bit as a,
Starting point is 00:28:09 like I said, a bit of an indictment against Arizona, considering he's, our most reference player. But yeah, it, first of all, if you look at the state of
Starting point is 00:28:18 Texas, they have some pretty goddamn good baseball players in that state. And he also is the number one searched player in the state of Texas, right? With the Houston Astros and everything else that they have going on, Texas Rangers, that's still the number one guy there. There were a lot of guys, like there's a lot of people here that aren't surprising, you know, Joey Votto and such. Like a lot of these guys, it kind of makes sense. Albert Pooleholz, especially being the legend he is popping up, that didn't surprise me at all.
Starting point is 00:28:47 it just still surprised me just a bit with this entire like Barry Bond's Hank Aaron, you know, coming up and especially Hank Aaron coming up in multiple states. That's just nuts to me. But anyway, I love baseball. I love the fact that people are still interested in old stats like that. Like enough for that person to lead the, you know, page views for all baseball players in those states, right? Can you pull it up one more time? Yeah, let's go.
Starting point is 00:29:18 So, okay, so if I'm not mistaken, it's pretty small. So it's a little bit hard to tell. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The state of Massachusetts also has Shoaheotani. Yeah. That's where the Boston Red Sox played, Derek. And they also have, they also have Joehoyotani. I've heard of them.
Starting point is 00:29:38 I'm also a little concerned about what's going on down south where we see Albuerto Mondes. Yeah, what is that about? What is that about? Did they just slip him in there to see if we were paying attention, or is that really the case? Is that, what is that? That's Alabama or Mississippi? I honestly, it's been too long of a day for me to answer that question right now. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:01 But anyway, yeah, this is, it's weird. Christian Yellich also in Alaska, dominating Alaska? Come on now. Is he from there or something? That's weird. Yeah, yeah, what exactly is going on with Christian Ellick in Alaska? That doesn't really, that doesn't really make sense. Um, okay, we're,
Starting point is 00:30:18 sense in baseball right now, Jesse. That's the state of Mississippi, by the way. Yeah, okay. Yeah. Yeah, there we go. I couldn't let that slide. We should probably know, we should probably know our states, Derek.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Well, I know you're a math teacher, but I'm, I'm hanging this one on you. Yeah. But yeah, we, we love, the important thing is, is there's a reason why I have a button up shirt
Starting point is 00:30:40 with Otani all over it. And it's because I fucking love him and a lot of people do. And yeah, that's really what comes down here. I've, I've totally. perpetuated this problem too, because I totally look up Shoyotani's stats on baseball. All the time. Well, because they're amazing. I almost feel like people look up his stats because
Starting point is 00:30:56 it's so unbelievable. You know, you have a baseball friend who tells you that and you're almost like, nah, that can't be right. A pitcher? Yeah. And for a stat nerd like me, it's also fascinating. Like, how exactly will his stats show up on baseball reference? Like, normally they only show pitching stats or hitting stats. They don't show both of that. Oh, that's a good point. Yeah, like, are you talking about up in the first bar when you pull it up, right? Yeah, it's like, what exactly are they going to, like, how exactly are they going to format this? So anyway, yeah. Well, you're omnipotent Jesse, so you're the one that should know here, which we got going on. That's going to be in the system.
Starting point is 00:31:36 Oh, yeah, that one's not getting removed. That was not getting deleted. I mean, we still got this one in there, Jesse, so let's not forget. Yeah, all right. Yeah, clearly they don't really. It can always be tank season. It can always be, it's staying season already for the coyotes. That's going to be a long year for those guys over there. Let me tell you. But not as long as the 162 baseball game or game baseball season, which might not even be 162 games this year. We have no idea what's going to happen and when these sides are going to talk.
Starting point is 00:32:03 But I promise you, once they do, we will bring it to you. We'll emergency pod. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter time or day. I will call Jesse's school. I'll call it a bomb threat. I don't care what I have to do. I'll get Jesse out of class.
Starting point is 00:32:15 and we will do an emergency pod. If you're calling a bomb threat, Derek, we may have bigger problems. Oh, okay, that's drastic, but all right, well, I'll see if I can figure something out. Before we go, I wanted to give you guys my draft king's pick of the week. Obviously, it's going to be another pick about NFL football since we don't know when the hell we can talk about baseball. Maybe we'll start doing KBO here soon enough. But I do like in the Arizona Cardinals games versus the Detroit Lions. I like the spread.
Starting point is 00:32:42 I like the Cardinals covering the minus 12 and a half spread. I think that they will win by two touchdowns. I think that Kyla Murray will be back. I think that this team will bounce back nicely. And unfortunately, they're going to be without DeAndre Hopkins for the rest of the season. Speaking of Hop, I think that there is a weekly special that I don't like. It's Kyla Murray basically having over 250 passing yards, over 25 rushing yards, a passing TD, and a rushing TD. I just don't know if he's going to do all of that, especially without D. Hop and still not being at 100% himself.
Starting point is 00:33:14 but a couple of other things I do like on the Draft King Sportsbook app is the Dallas Cowboys covering the spread at minus 11 over the New York Giants. And I also like the Tennessee Titans at plus one over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
