Starting point is 00:00:00 It is time for our annual D-BACs time capsule episode. We're going to talk about the good ones and some of the bad times from this 2024 season. So don't go anywhere. We're talking about it in 30 seconds. Welcome in to Studio K, presented by our friends at Circle K. And this is, of course, another edition of the PHMX D-BACs podcast. We never stop. We never stop.
Starting point is 00:00:33 There is no off-season for us on this show. My name is Derek Montia, occasionally known as your mayor of PHMX. This man. is your thunder stick, and I will never tell you why he's called that. Occasionally, no, as Jesse Friedman. And welcome it to another edition of this show. We had some fun last night out in Arizona Fall League game together. I can't suggest you as a baseball fan going to check that out enough.
Starting point is 00:00:56 I know this time of the year might be tough for some Arizona Diamondbacks fans. You might want to be ignoring baseball altogether. I found out that some of you that I like a lot are ignoring this show. Yeah, that's right. I'm calling you out in our Discord. But, of course, we appreciate you guys for loving baseball. And again, Arizona Folly will be gone before we know it. So make sure that you go out there and check those guys out because it's a whole lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:01:21 It is. Yeah. I believe there's a game, a Saw River Raptors game that is starting as we speak or about to start. But don't need to divide that audience. Don't go. Yeah, don't. You don't want to be there right now today, at least not for the next hour. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:36 But then go out after the show's over. Yeah, after the show's over, I think that'd be great. Yeah, everyone, everyone have a lot of fun. Elizabeth says, I'm here to heckle Derek, justice for Elise. That's because, once again, Elise is bad at math. So I don't need to get into that. You guys in the Discord know what I mean by that. But we are going to talk about our favorite moments from this Arizona Diamondback season.
Starting point is 00:01:57 And, of course, not just our favorite moments. We are going to put together our annual time capsule, where we are going to acquire our favorite items. We're going to steal them away from all of the sources. that we need to steal them away from, put them into an imaginary box and bury it in the ground for future generations of snake fans to find. But of course, right now what we want to talk about is that baseball is down to their final four teams. And right now, the seven best players essentially in baseball since 2020 are all left in the game, making this postseason a whole
Starting point is 00:02:31 lot of fun to watch. Yeah, yeah. There's a lot of, there's a lot of star caliber, uh, players that are remaining in the postseason, which is a really good thing for baseball. We talk a lot about, you know, having the biggest markets represented, right? The Dodgers are obviously still in the picture as well as both of the New York teams. But it's not just that. It's also about having some of the best individual players in the game, some of the most marketable individual players in all the baseball still in the postseason, still in this final four. Well, and healthy and playing and all contributing to their teams.
Starting point is 00:03:07 And it's kind of funny because some of the ones that the, you know, some of these guys are contributing less than their counterparts that aren't anywhere close to the top of this list. But there, there's just a lot of marquee name value in this postseason right now. There really is. Yeah. I mean, Shohei Otani is a pretty good place to start on that front, frankly. Aaron Judge is a pretty, is also a pretty good, pretty good starting point for that. So, yeah, it's, it's, I am sure.
Starting point is 00:03:37 that Rob Manfred and his commissioner's office friends are all very happy about how things have transpired and perhaps rooting that the Cleveland Guardians do not amount to come back. Well, I mean, last year's ratings, we talked about it. We were honest about it. Last year's ratings, not great for the World Series. In fact, based on the percentages of viewership of households in America, it was the lowest watched World Series in history, basically, Jesse. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:11 And not in actual terms of millions of viewers, but yeah, it wasn't, that did not break 10 million viewers last year total for the World Series. So it's just an interesting, you know, turn to this season where now all the teams left aside from, like you said, the Guardians aren't, are big market teams. And I mean, as much as it sucks, because usually you hate those. teams unless you're a fan of them. You're not really, you know, not a fan of the Dodgers, but secretly rooting for them, no matter how much you guys accuse me of doing that. And I mean, maybe, you know, the Mets have a little bit of an underdog tone to them, you know, but still they are
Starting point is 00:04:51 one of the biggest, you know, or, you know, highest spending teams in baseball. But it does feel like because of the caliber, because of these guys, you got Otani, Judge, Juan Soto, Jose Ramirez, as Freddie Freeman, Francisco, Lindor, and Mookie Betts, all still playing in the postseason. It feels like that's why they are just killing it in the ratings right now. And I mean, we know we did get information about that game, the game five of the NLCS and how viewed it was not only here in the United States, which got 7.5 million viewers, but in Japan it got 12.9 million viewers. That'd be the NLDS, right?
Starting point is 00:05:29 NLDS, yeah, NLDS, game five of the LDS. Yeah, that was between Yamamoto and you Darvish starting. Yeah. Right. You can't really, you can't really create a baseball game that would be more appealing to that audience than Yamamoto against Darvish in an elimination game with Shohei Otani playing in that game. Right. It doesn't get any better than that. And that was also, we said it at the time, that was the first, the first postseason game ever that was started by a Japanese-born pitcher on both sides.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So it was really cool for the sport. And yeah, I think oftentimes we can forget here in the U.S. that there are a lot of, a lot of not just baseball fans in other countries, but a lot of Major League Baseball fans, like a lot of people who are invested in these teams who live overseas. And these numbers absolutely bear that out. Well, and the ladies here, Elise and Elizabeth, both voiced their opinion about the NLCS kind of being not fun to watch.
Starting point is 00:06:31 And it hasn't been great because it's just been one blowout after the next. But it is averaging right now or did average on Sunday 8.26 million viewers across Fox Sports's TV networks, making it the most watch LCS game on any network since 2009. So we're back. It's pretty crazy. And also, I mean, that's going up and this isn't anything new. But I mean, that's going up against Sunday night football and then Monday night football the next night. So baseball's been having a decent showing.
Starting point is 00:07:02 You should be watching postseason baseball if you are a baseball fan. And even with these games not being very entertaining, like you guys said, a lot of people are watching. A lot of interest is there. Absolutely. Yeah. It's interesting to me that that's, I believe that's an average viewership number, like throughout the entire game. And that game was not particularly close, right? It's not like this went down to the wire.
Starting point is 00:07:26 You would sort of assume that people might have dropped off at some point. and yet the average number is still really high. Yeah, I mean, naturally, I guess we kind of wonder, like, how would these numbers be affected if it was Diamondbacks Dodgers at this point? The world that many people watching right now probably wish that we lived in. Yeah, I think we all know that these numbers are probably a lot lower. And I don't think any of our audience members really care about that. And I don't think that a lot of other fan bases really care about that.
Starting point is 00:07:57 it is it is good for baseball at the end of the day i'm sure it helps their bottom line uh but i also thought that like the rangers and debacks being in the world series was was really cool right yeah like i think it was a sign of of the parody in the game the fact that i think baseball suffers less from the issue we see in other sports where you either kind of have the ability to win a championship or you don't depending on you know i guess who your best player is or who your best top two players are or whatever. Sometimes it feels like football and basketball can can kind of veer in that direction. But baseball is not is not like that. It is a different sport. It is all of these are team sports, but baseball in a unique way, you know, any team can can really go on a nice run
Starting point is 00:08:46 this time of year. And yeah, unfortunately for those people, this season you're going to wind up with. I mean, I guess the Mets are still like they're a good story in their own way. You know, They're not a team that was on top of the world and winning 110 games or anything. But obviously a big market at the same time. Nicholas, who has confessed he's already not watching the postseason, said, I will extra not watch if it's Dodgers, Yankees. Right, right. Like the ratings get higher, and yet there are some people who are defiantly against it at the same time.
Starting point is 00:09:17 And that's understandable. I don't care if it's two teams that I absolutely couldn't care less about if they win or lose. then I mean Would you watch Would you watch a Dodgers Yankees World Series? Well yeah because as everybody knows That I'm a secret Dodgers fan right At least that's how all the accusations are you're getting pretty
Starting point is 00:09:40 You're getting pretty close at this point there No I mean I would watch it because it's the world series And I watch the World Series every year regardless of who is in it But it's not like I would care It's not like I would find myself rooting for either one of those teams and that's really, I think, what people want, right? You wouldn't root for the Yankees? Probably.
Starting point is 00:10:03 I probably would. Okay, okay. I just, I mean, what are we talking about? It's mostly to bother Sean to pause is what we're not talking about. He's trying to back me into a corner, Damon, is what he's trying to do. Exactly. No, like, we're talking about if you have to choose. And I think if you're a Diamondbacks fan in that world, you're picking the Yankees.
Starting point is 00:10:25 right there's no real like there's no real hard feelings with the yankees if you're a diamondbacks fan because we got them because you beat them right like they still haven't been able to get revenge for that world series yeah i mean they they got out scored by what was it 30 30 runs uh in that in that world series even though obviously the debacks only you know they needed seven games to finish the thing but yeah i think it's pretty obvious if you're a diamond backs fan at least i would think who you'd be rooting for in that scenario. I have a tweet here from December 9th, 20203, and it says, can M-O-B finally get what they want after seven years?
Starting point is 00:11:05 And it's a picture of the Yankees and a picture of the Dodgers. And I quote tweeted it on December 9th, 20203. And I said, I would tattoo pinstripes on my body if this ever happened. If you guys want to know where my head's at. Yeah. This still stands to this day. Yeah. Yeah, that's very true.
Starting point is 00:11:25 We're going to hold you to you that, Damon. Well, maybe you should be rooting for the guardians right now. You probably shouldn't have to tattoo pin stripes on your body. We haven't given up on the Mets yet. We haven't. We're Mets Nation. We're still. So you're not, you're not tattooing the pinstripes if it's Mets, Yankees.
Starting point is 00:11:44 You're doing it. Yeah, no, that's a different kind of pinstripes. Those are as prominent of pin stripes. They do their pin stripes sometimes. It's a different thing. I will say this, uh, in regards. to that terrible world series of the Yankees and the Dodgers, you just,
Starting point is 00:11:58 you want a rooting interest, right? Like, I mean, again, like you said, the Mets, at least give you somebody you feel better about rooting for, right?
Starting point is 00:12:05 I mean, that it's any sport. Any sport is fun when you have something to root for. That someone said that they were a fan of the Fuka now a hawks, I believe is what it was, but yeah, see, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Vote meteor. What is there a meteor? What is happening? I think, I think the meteor is like it's the alternative, right? Correct. That's the third thing that we root for. Oh, yeah, I root me.
Starting point is 00:12:32 I root for destruction of the planet before I have to watch those teams face each other. That's a shoot. Anyway, I don't know, man. It's it is what it is. It sucks that it's like that because, again, it feels like every time the ratings are good for baseball and the teams involved are good for baseball. it's usually bad because it's going to be teams like this. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:56 And the Mets, even though they are a more compelling story, I think, than some of these other teams, they're still leading the league in payroll, right? I mean, it's hard to, it's hard to really view the Mets as some kind of underdog, you know, coming out of nowhere, like, yeah, you spent like $340 million this season. So, I mean, granted, some of those players are not on this team. anymore. But that's a luxury that the Mets have that a lot of other teams do not, right? If the Diamondbacks have a whole bunch of money tied into Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer
Starting point is 00:13:30 when they're pitching for other teams or hurt for other teams, then that costs them, right? It doesn't really cost the Mets all that much. They're still able to go out and make the moves that they need to. Well, Ryan says that the Mets stink, the Yankees stink. They all stink. I'm just here for the blot you have. you're going to be disappointed once again, Ryan. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:13:53 I'm sorry for, but stick around. We'll see what happens. You never know what ads are going to pop up in the show. No guarantees, though. Do not miss that. All sorts of fun to be had out at the dealership. See dealership for details on that. All right, Jesse. Well, it is time. It is time. I know this is a huge episode for us because it is time for us to compile our 24 Diamondbacks time capsule items. We did this last year. It was much more fun because it was after the postseason and after all the wonderful things they did. Now we're left trying to wonder how many bad things do we put in the time capsule this year. You got a nice balance.
Starting point is 00:17:24 There's some fun moments in here too. There are lots of fun moments. There are lots of fun things for us to preserve. And of course, there's the very, very important things like our number one item, or at least my number one item, is one order of Korean pork belly nachos. That's right. I've been talking about these Korean pork belly nachos all season long. And if you didn't get them, you missed out, son. I don't know what to tell you.
Starting point is 00:17:49 I tried people to convince Derek that it was a bad idea to put the Korean pork belly nachos in the time capsule because there's a preservation issue here, Derek, that I think needs to be discussed. These Korean pork belly nachos, when the time capsule is opened, I don't know, how long is it going to be? 20 years from now, like, what are these nachos going to look like? I mean, that's the fun part. I mean, that doesn't sound fun at all. Dinosaur Dracula does this with Woppers all the time. He freezes them and he finds a way to preserve them. I'm not, it's not.
Starting point is 00:18:25 There are so many preservatives in those, Jesse. They're going to be fine. I bet they look exactly like they did on day one when you open them up. But yeah, no, that's, they just got to be, they got to be preserved. It was the best, best snack food item of the year at Chase Field. What do you got? Okay. On to a more, more important thing.
Starting point is 00:18:45 How do you? So on March 25th, this is one of those exhibition games at Chasefield that they play before the start of every season, always against the Cleveland Guardians. That's how it's been recently. And Derek, there was rain, not just outside Chasefield, not just landing on the roof at Chase Field. there was rain inside inside and in a stadium that has a roof the irony the game was rained out and you can see some of the the water droplets here it's a good shot yeah and you can sort of see people running for the exits because i mean naturally in arizona people don't really know what to do when it starts raining just are you supposed to sit there and get wet is that yeah but
Starting point is 00:19:42 like when you're when you're in a facility that the roof was open to start the game, but when you're in a facility that does have a roof, you're maybe not generally expecting to have it rain on you. But that is exactly what happened. Mother Nature will make fools of us all. Yeah, so the item, the physical item that we are collecting for the time capsule is we're just going to borrow a small slice of the Chasefield turf.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And it was this turf that was, ultimately the reason that this game was called off because it was an exhibition game. There wasn't really a reason that this game had to be played. And Toro Lavello, the Guardians manager, Steven Vote, you know, the umpires are all trying to figure out what to do. And they came to the conclusion that you don't really know how turf plays when it gets wet because it's not designed to get wet. So we are going to, we are going to take some of that turf for our time caps.
Starting point is 00:20:41 The first ever rain, the first ever rain out. in Diamondback's history at home, at home. I have the item of all the items. It is the item. I mean, this is probably almost as good as the Korean pork dully nachos. Few things are. But the most important item of 2024 that is going into our time capsule is Matt Hilton's beekeeper helmet. As you all remember on April 30th, that infamous day against the Los Angeles Dodgers
Starting point is 00:21:13 Diamondbacks had a bee problem, to say the least. It was very close to us, Jesse. We were both present that day. We could see the bees forming. We didn't know what exactly it was, but we saw people pointing up, and lo and behold, a huge colony of bees had taken up on the netting behind the backstop of Chase Field.
Starting point is 00:21:39 And, of course, this hero was calling. out while he was at his son's t-ball game in surprise arizona which is wild i love that he was at his son's deep all game blue sky pest control company i believe who has a they have like a deal with chase field you know that that's who yeah yeah uh and they and and much like batman much like other superheroes right i mean those those those gentlemen are also at cocktail parties and they're doing stuff in their general lives and then crime strikes and they have to jump into action jesse and they have to go out and and solve a problem. And Matt Hilton absolutely did that.
Starting point is 00:22:17 And it wasn't just the fact that he came out and solved the B problem, Jesse. It was the way the man, he's soaked up the spotlight. A bit of a showman, bit of a showman. He's a star. He's an absolute star. He talked about rising, rising to the occasion. And he threw out the first pitch, too.
Starting point is 00:22:35 He became like, he became the story of, of, of the game. Yes. Of like the month for the Diamondbacks, basically. I don't think there was a bigger story for the Diamondbacks in the month of April than Matt Hilton, the beekeeper. And Damon, who is searching for that lovely photo you just saw. Apparently, Damon, you said like when you when you searched Beekeeper in our images database, that Matt Hilton is just what came up because he's like the beekeeper. I'm sure a lot of you guys are familiar with Getty images when you just type in Beekeeper, simply beekeeper. should have given you millions of images that you would have had to sift through to find one.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Nope, he's the beekeeper of all beekeepers. Just he owns the occupation at this point. So it was a one hour, 55 minute delay, which is a very long time. They got they got pretty close to just calling this game off because again, Matt Hilton was in surprise. It's a bit of a drive to get from there all the way to Chase Field. And this game, fortunately for Diamondbacks fans, for the people who stuck around and waited it out, it did end in fantastic fashion for the diamond backs it was the Dodgers were in town um the debaks wound up scratching jordan montgomery who was scheduled to start that day they went with a bullpen game
Starting point is 00:23:52 um and they won this game because in the bottom of the 10th inning christian walker hit a walkoff to run homer against uh nebile chasmat debax legend and tory told him to hit to the eff and moon and troy before he stepped up to the to the plate yes tory told him to hit it to the Effing Moon. So it was a crazy day. There was a point where we were in the press box and there was almost the low point, the moment of despair when we heard there was now a time limit being put on Matt Hilton's arrival at the time we didn't know his name.
Starting point is 00:24:26 We didn't know who it was going to be. But a time limit was being put on this situation and should it not get rectified soon enough the game was going to be called. Jesse and I were already discussing what our plans for the show and what night we're going to be should that happen. And then like one of the wrestlers at WrestleMania 9, here comes this hero being driven out on the cart like the true legend he is. And just from the moment you saw him, he was at his hands up in the air. He was exalted.
Starting point is 00:24:52 He knew he was here to save the day. So, yeah, that was an amazing, amazing night. Groundhog Mama in the chat says I was at that game. The music they played in the stadium was very B-themed, which, yes, I can also attest to. I remember Let It Be I remember black and yellow They yeah the The stadium DJ was really on point
Starting point is 00:25:15 They had a lot of space to fill too So yeah sometimes Sometimes when that moment comes up Everybody steps up and everybody stepped up in the moment Jesse everybody stepped up so The subplot with the B game Is is I guess relates to Jordan Montgomery
Starting point is 00:25:31 Because Jordan Montgomery As I said earlier was scheduled to start this this day and because of how long it took for the game to start, the diamond backs understandably decided to scratch him. And so he wound up pitching the next day against the Dodgers and got totally shelled, gave up six runs and three innings. And that was really when Jordan Montgomery's season sort of took a turn for the worse. People might have forgotten that Montgomery was actually quite good in his first two starts
Starting point is 00:25:58 this year for the Diamondbacks had a 2.77 ERA. Are you blaming these? Are you blaming Matt Hilton? Who are you blaming? I don't know. I'm just saying that before the B game, Jordan Montgomery was good. And then he and then he was scratched and then he pitched the next day and he was not good that day. And it was a pretty rough season the rest of the way.
Starting point is 00:26:21 So do with that what you will. Groundhog Mama says put Monty in the time capsule. That's not going to keep him from taking his player off. We did discuss that, Karen. We genuinely did. We thought about it. Jesse was not okay with that. No, Jesse, Jesse vetoed a lot of things.
Starting point is 00:26:36 I'm trying to keep the time capsule like a container of like physical objects. David wanted to put Gino's goggles in there. Jesse said, no. Because Gino's goggles are not real. It's just like a little thing that he does every time. You just put them in that shape and then put the gloves in the box. But you know what is real? This time capsule we're doing.
Starting point is 00:26:59 It is very, very real. Yeah, I've talked with ESPO. We have we have a time. capsule curation budget actually assigned. So we are going to be collecting all of these items. I did steal the victory vest. So the victory vest is going in in because I don't know, Jesse. I don't, I love the victory vest.
Starting point is 00:27:21 They decided to make it private this season. They decided to make their celebration of the player of the game private. And I don't know. Maybe maybe this isn't showing up your opponent. it, you know, like maybe that's what they, maybe they wanted it just to be about the team and them kind of honoring themselves, uh, internally without it being, uh, an external thing. But, uh, sports are sports are more fun with this type of stuff. And I hate that they took the vest away from us and made it private. So I'm going to take the vest away from them. And I'm going to put it in our time capsule. Yeah. serves them right. serves them right. Yeah. Think you nailed it. What do you got? Uh, uh, uh, Andrew Saul Frank, uh, did not have a great, um, uh, a great. 24 season. He did not wind up pitching a whole lot in 2024 because news came out, Derek, in early June that Andrew Saw Frank had placed a number of bets relating to baseball.
Starting point is 00:28:19 According to Major League Baseball, he wagered $445.87 on 29 bets, 28, where MLB related, the other was a college baseball parlay. and all of these games happened back in 2021 and 2022, so some time had passed. Say that number again, the total number of dollars? $445. Do you guys realize how little that is? David bets that every week. No, like, actually, if you were to check my total amount of money bet in my account,
Starting point is 00:28:52 be jaw dropping. No, like, that's a professional baseball player. Yeah. Like, I'm probably 10 times that amount. Right. 20 times out of amount. I get it. And I think that's what was so, so kind of tragic about this is that clearly he made a mistake
Starting point is 00:29:07 and he shouldn't have done that. And, you know, he was suspended for a reason. There's no black and white. If you spend under this amount, you're fine. Yeah, right. It is black and white and it makes sense. But also to lose an entire season in Major League Baseball for less than $500 of sports betting is it's unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Well, and here's the thing is we have gambling partners. We talk about sports betting all the time. We say sports, it makes sports more fun, right? And it feels like when you talk about $445 and 87 cents divided up amongst 29 bets, this wasn't someone that was trying to make huge months of money off of the game or had insider knowledge and was trying to turn his profit. Yeah, no, no. We've seen things like that in basketball and in other sports where there was actually somebody
Starting point is 00:29:53 that got caught doing something substantial. Now, again, this is black and white. There's no, like, minimal amount or whatever. So if you bet a dollar on the game that you play the game of baseball, you are guilty and you are susceptible to this same type of suspension, right? But it just sucks. It sucks that that happened. It's unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:30:15 And yeah, I think that for his own good, we're going to take Andrew Saul-Frank's cell phone away and put it in the time capsule. Yes, yes. We will do that. This is a live action shot, actually. No, no, no. I see soccer. It's soccer. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:30:30 I took this picture. Okay. Well, still, we're taking that away. We need to give me the phone right now. We're putting it away. I don't know if this is fair because he, this is almost like a time capsule of his own. But I'm taking Jock Peterson's back collection. And I am putting his back collection that he stole from other players.
Starting point is 00:30:53 Yeah, I was going to say, is that just like stealing stolen property? I mean, there's no honor among Steve's, right? Or there is, I don't know, is there honor amongst thieves? There's no honor amongst these, right? So if he steals, I can steal from him and it's fair game. Oh, that's the big crad bat right there. That was my favorite of the entire season. This was from Players Weekend.
Starting point is 00:31:13 This was really cool. Let these guys do this all the time, by the way. Let them have cool shoes and cool bats. My God, like, we sit there on other sports and show fashion and show what guys are wearing and make such a big deal about it. And it's such a cool part of the game. I don't understand why this needs to be relegated to just one weekend. But, yeah, Jack Peterson's amazing bat collection that he uses,
Starting point is 00:31:35 like someone would use a golf set, right? Where he goes in and he has to find a certain weight for the occasion or whatever. Or maybe he's just looking for the spirit, the vibes of that guy. Like he's like, oh, I need an Aaron Judge bat right now. You know, he pulls it out. It goes out. I don't care. I'm stealing his bat collection and we're putting that in the time capsule.
Starting point is 00:31:55 This is a big time capsule, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We got lots of space. Yeah, we do. Yeah, we just had to make the time capsule like, like a hundredfold in size in order to fit all of these bats. But, yeah, Jock, that was a storyline throughout the season, right? Jock obviously had an amazing season for the Diamondbacks. So it wouldn't have felt right if we didn't have some sort of Jock Peterson memorabilia included.
Starting point is 00:32:18 And I think his back collection is the perfect thing. Perfect thing. What else you got? Yeah, I guess we go to the All-Star game, which was in some way. underwhelming for the Diamondbacks because they had just one representative this year, Derek. Somehow, some way they just had the one. It was Cotel Marte who was representing the Diamondbacks in Arlington at the All-Star festivities. However, he was not alone in terms of Diamondbacks personnel because Tori Lavello was also there
Starting point is 00:32:48 with the entire Diamondbacks coaching staff. So we are taking manager Tori Lavello's jersey. Sorry, Tori, if you had this somewhere special in your home. He said like the Dan Patrick show his pants, right? So we can have the jersey. We're definitely closer to him than Dan Patrick is. I would hope so. I would hope so.
Starting point is 00:33:07 We were out there. We were talking to him on the red carpet. No, but again, it's, I think the idea here is that this was a special, this was a special honor for Tori. Right. Like, this is an honor that's bestowed upon the manager that reached the World Series. And we don't know if Tori Lubello is going to get another opportunity at this honor to manage the National League. We hope so.
Starting point is 00:33:29 We definitely hope so as Diamondbacks fans. But being his first and potentially only, yeah, this would be a fine edition. I think Catelle is going to have future All-Star appearances, but this might be the only one for Tori. Also, it was special for us, man. We made that trip out there, and we had an absolute blast. We put in a whole lot of work to make those shows happen. But we had a lot of fun being out there for all of the All-Star festivities. And then our trip up to Chicago as well.
Starting point is 00:33:56 We got to eat a lot of good food. Jesse wouldn't let me put her Tato barbecue in there, but I definitely would. You keep wanting to put food items, Derek. We could have a little cooler in there with all these items or something to preserve them. I don't know. The cooler is going to stay cold for 20 years? Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Well, we do have to put the bat that Corbyn Carroll hit his pinch hit to run walkoff Homer with against Kyle Finnegan on July 29th because Jesse, that was a big moment for this team. Yes. And it kind of capped off an incredible month in July. And then, you know, continued their run there into the month of August to play in their best baseball of the season. Yeah, a few angles on this one from a team perspective. This was an incredible win for the Diamondbacks. They scored a whole bunch of runs against Kyle Finnegan in that ninth inning. I believe it was eight to four entering the bottom of the ninth.
Starting point is 00:34:51 The Diamondbacks scored five runs to win the game nine to eight. They trailed six to nothing earlier in the game. So this was a six-run comeback. Arguably the most remarkable win the Diamondbacks had all season. We weren't planning to do a live show that day. But me and Damon wound up hopping on and doing an emergency show because it was just an outrageous baseball game. But more than what it meant for the team, it meant a lot for Corbyn Carroll, too.
Starting point is 00:35:19 This was, I think, the day where things really started to turn around for him. He did not start this game. The Nationals had, I believe, a left-hander on the mound. So this was back when Corbyn was starting against righties, but not really starting much against lefties or at least hitting low in the lineup. So this was a pinch hit home run for Corbyn. And I think that just says so much, right? The fact that at that point in time, he was still kind of going through it.
Starting point is 00:35:44 There were some positive signs, but especially against lefties, he still had looked pretty lost. And he was the Diamondback's best player a year ago. And yet he was not starting in the last. this game, not for rest purposes, but because he just was really struggling at that point in the season. There was a great story from Nick Bacoro over at the Arizona Republic, kind of detailing Corbin and him coming out of the extended funk that he went through in the first half of the season. And he pinpointed this day. He talked about taking 500 swings on July 29th and how he kind of felt like things were starting to click for him on that day for the first time. And sure enough,
Starting point is 00:36:22 he hits this walkoff to run homer and from that point through the end of the season Corbyn started to look a whole lot more like the player that we saw the year prior. Groundhog Mama says was that the game where Derek was already asleep? Yes. I believe it was. Yeah, I gave up on that game. I gave up on that game in like the fourth year. Yeah, that's why it was me and Damon because Derek was about two hours.
Starting point is 00:36:43 I woke up to a lot of text messages the next day. Yes, I was also very well rested. I mean, it was pretty early in the night when Jesse was like, do we have to go live after this. It was probably like 8.45, I feel like, and Derek was like, just silence. Just correct. Just straight up, straight up silence. All right. Let's talk about the fact that I put my phone in a completely different room when I go to lay down in bed. And I do go lay down in bed at 8 p.m. some nights. That's fair. Because I like sleep. I don't believe in the phrase, um, you'll sleep when you're dead. Because you're dead. And it's not sleeping. I love sleep. So I'm going to get as much of it as I can while
Starting point is 00:37:19 I'm alive. But yeah, that's definitely why I needed to put that in there because I don't remember that moment. So I just want to make sure that that bat exists and is preserved for future generations. What else do you got? Yeah, one more before we take a quick break here. We've got a whole lot more time capsule items to go. But the baseball that Tori Lavello took from Paul Seawald on July the 31st.
Starting point is 00:37:46 And many of you watching the show now were here. in the ballpark for this moment. I know for a fact because this was also our Chasefield pool takeover, which a shout out was a lot of fun. And we plan to do that again next year. So be sure to come out and join us if you can. I mean, we're throwing one of the pool towels in there too, for sure. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:38:08 One of the pool towels absolutely belongs in the time capsule. But this day, obviously July was a rough month for Paul C-wall. This is the month where he ultimately lost his, his, his, closing role. But this is the first time where Tori Lavello basically said enough. And he was like, I'm not going to let Paul Seawald blow this save. I am going to call on another reliever to try to get the job done. And he winds up handing the baseball to Ryan Thompson.
Starting point is 00:38:41 And Thompson was not as sharp as maybe you would have liked that day, but he did manage to to finish the game and seal a Diamondbacks win. And that was a turning point in terms of the Diamondbacks bullpen usage. We did not see Paul Seawald in another save situation the rest of the year. It started out as Ryan Thompson. Then, of course, it went to Justin Martinez. We saw A.J. Puck show up in some ninth innings late in the season. But July was really rough.
Starting point is 00:39:10 And unfortunately, the Paul Seawald struggles late in games was a part of of the 2024 Diamondback story, right? That was a really, really rough month for him and yet another season in this franchise's history where the closer that started the year was not able to finish the season in that role. Shane wants to put you in the time capsule. That's because Shane really wants to make a fantasy football trade with me
Starting point is 00:39:38 because I have both Devonte Adams and Amari Cooper who both were just traded to better situations. And I've become very popular. suddenly in our staff fantasy football league. She just wants to play ball. That's what he says. But if he really means it, he would trade me Malik neighbors. That's all that's all I'll say on that front.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Damon's trying to trade me guys that he's releasing off of his team before I could even decide if I wanted to go. Yeah. Yeah, that was a tough one. Things are great. I'm pretty sure I offered that trade though before the Devante Adams trade happened. Yes. Yes. So to be fair.
Starting point is 00:40:13 To be fair. Yeah. And then Lizard had a great. Lizard was wide receiver 11. He was. But now he's the third receiver on the Jets, so he's not worth very much. No, no, not anymore. Well, of course, like Jesse said, we have more items to put in our time capsule on the other side of this break,
Starting point is 00:40:27 so don't you go anywhere. Of course, unless that place you're going is to Heel of River Resorts and Casinos, because I highly recommend that. I would hope that you would wait until this show ended, but it's always a good time to go out to He La River Resorts and Casinos. You can visit any one of their four locations, Wild Horse Pass, Lone Butte, Vkeva, or San Tan Mountain, I've always be Quevea, right? I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:40:51 I struggle with that one. But of course, make sure to check out all those beautiful resorts. They have wonderful options for you guys to go stay. Staycation here in town is a wonderful thing to do. Or at least have a fun night out with over 4,500 slots in live table games as well as their incredible sports book for you to go watch some sports and of course get down on the action. Head to Heila River Resorts and casinos and let them show you what next level is all about.

And stay tuned for info on how you can come hang out with us. You do you at Heela Vervea Resorts and Casinos. Visit playatheila.com for more details. And it is Thirsty Thursday around the office, by the way. We are talking about how thirsty we all are today. And of course, we have to stop by America's Thirst stop to quench that thirst.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Right now, of course, if you join the Inner Circle for free over at, Circle K, by downloading the Circle K app today, you can get your first five polar pops for absolutely free. And then after that, you get any size for just 79 cents. That includes Frosters as well. Frostor is the superior drink just because I love frosty beverages that are frozen blended drinks. They're amazing. I live in Arizona. I always need to, I always need to be cool.
Starting point is 00:42:07 Even during the winter months, the winter months, I still need to stay cold as much as possible. And Circle K helps me do that. Of course, visit Circle K right now and make sure to check out that inner circle program for free. Terms and conditions apply, participating locations. Visit CircleK.com for details. You also save yourself 25 cents per gallon on your first five fill up. So do not miss out on stopping by Circle K. Get something for yourself and fill your car up.
Starting point is 00:42:33 All right, Jesse. Well, we got some more items here for the time capsule. We had some discussion about which clothing items we wanted to put in there. Of course, you had to make sure that there was some sort of. attire. Well, yeah. I mean, we were thinking about giveaway items. None of those really kind of struck, or maybe the, maybe the commemorative ring. That was a pretty cool giveaway item this year. But then we moved into, I thought maybe like, Geraldo Pardomo, where's a lot of cool yellow stuff that we've talked about all season long, maybe just to represent DOMO and all he's done for this team. But no,
Starting point is 00:43:04 I figured out the perfect item, Jesse, the perfect item, because it helps all of us. It helps Damon, and it helps the team. It helps Josh himself. This is the most important item. I would argue. in the entire time capsule. Right. This means everything. We are going to put in the time capsule Josh Bell's Navy Blue sleeve. And that's so that we can save Josh Bell from himself.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Josh Bell refused to change the color of his sleeve on his right arm this season. I don't know. I mean, he was with teams that had Navy as part of their color scheme before, but he couldn't get on board with a nice teal one or maybe a gradient sleeve like we saw Corbyn have. And I don't know if Josh Bell is going to be a part of this team. in the future.
Starting point is 00:43:45 So maybe this is just unnecessary. But based on how much aggravation it caused Damon alone that he would wear it night in and night out, we're taking the sleeve and we're putting it in time capsule. I will say in Josh's defense, I think he, I think he might be, hear me out, I think he might be dealing with some trade deadline trade fatigue because this was the third consecutive season in which he switched teams at the trade deadline. Oh yeah. And eventually you just get tired of having to switch.
Starting point is 00:44:15 swap out the sleeves and all the stuff to fit the new colors in the house. It just Josh Bell is he's he's a simple man who just wants to go out there and hit some bombs. And he did that for the Diamondbacks. At least the first week, he hit a whole bunch of home runs. The rest of the way, not a ton of power, but by and large, he was quite good for the Diamondbacks in the second half. I can't get over how bad this looks. Like it just makes me just like sick to my stomach sitting here. I needed you to see it one more time before he wrapped up this.
Starting point is 00:44:45 season because we're not sure if we're going to get to see that again. But I'm sitting here and I'm looking at his teams he's played for and it's like, where did he get this navy blue sleeve? Like I understand he, okay, so it fits with the Marlins. It doesn't. No, I think it does. Navy blue. No, but it, but it fits.
Starting point is 00:45:02 It fits the palette. It's not like, because like the diamond backs. The diamond backs aren't yellow, right? And yet, and yet you guys are praising Haralo Prudomo and Jock Peterson for wearing a bunch yellow it's not about matching the exact team colors it's about fitting the scheme all right and i understand i hear you there and i understand that but where i disagree is i think when you the marlins do have a shade of blue in their color scheme when you why i'm taking it away when you use a different shade of blue all of a sudden now we have problems do you realize how many times i've had to hear
Starting point is 00:45:39 this conversation so man diamondbacks acquired josh no oh my god give me that sleep and put it in the box put it in the box right now. Close the box. Josh Bell would play. I would look at Derek and be like, have you seen this baby? He was seen it. It would delight me every single time. It would delight me every single time.
Starting point is 00:45:58 All right, Jesse, what do you got? Well, I don't really think this is my item to present. But there's a lot of... You can pick one off the list. You don't have to do the next one. No, no, I'll do it. I'll at least start it. And then you guys can say whatever you want to say.
Starting point is 00:46:14 but there was a big moment for the diamond backs on August 10th. The Philadelphia Phillies were in town. One Catel Marte had recently left a game with an ankle injury. And in some ways, it was the diamond back's worst nightmare on August the 10th when Garrett Stubbs slid into second base and appeared to be needlessly aggressive. there's a kind of range of opinions on whether that was a dirty play or not. Catelle after the game did not seem to think it was a dirty play. It absolutely was. But regardless of how you feel about it, Cattel Marte did reaggravate his ankle injury that day.
Starting point is 00:46:59 He wound up leaving the game. And initially, the word was that he was fine, that it was still a contusion and there was nothing else really going on. But Cattel wound up needing to miss a little bit of time. the next game that he tried to play, he left the game pretty much immediately. And then he wound up actually going on the injured list as well and missing even more time. And even toward the end of the season, we know that this continued to linger for him the day that he asked for a day off in the final week of the season. A game with the Diamondbacks lost against the Giants.
Starting point is 00:47:33 That was also connected to this ankle injury. So however you feel about it, it was a significant moment for this team. Groundhong mom is right Stubbs goes in the time capsule And I'm taking the food back out Jesse's right We're not putting the Korean barbecue Bres in there
Starting point is 00:47:49 You can just Whatever happens to him Happens to him No Garrett Stubbs is a criminal And he deserves to be arrested by the police And charged with crimes For what he did To the Diamondback season
Starting point is 00:48:01 And I'm glad to fill He's got eliminated as quickly as they did Because they deserved it He deserved it And what are we putting in there What are we putting in the time capsule It's Garrett Stubbs is a Philly Fanatic costume, the one that he wears all the time because he is the second
Starting point is 00:48:15 mascot for that team. So there he is. Fun fact about this Philly Fanatic costume that we're putting in there actually. This is the costume that Garrett Stubbs wore all season at the bank. He would go around, take pictures with children. You know, you know the spiel, typical mascot spiel. But he actually, when they put him in the lineup this day, he left this exact Philly fanatic costume in his locker. So that's where we're taking it from because, you know, obviously he had to put his actual uniform on that day. So yeah, that's that's, we're putting, we're putting the costume that costs us our season in
Starting point is 00:48:52 there. Yeah. I have, I have no, no, uh, further comments. I'm sick over this all over again. I guess I talked about it. It was apparent in the moment as, as someone who is, who is, you know, in there talking, talking talking with these guys after it at the game, that Tori Lave. Velo when we asked him about how he felt about the stub slide, he seemed, it was more of a tone of
Starting point is 00:49:19 voice thing. He didn't openly say that he thought it was dirty, but his reaction was very different from Catele's reaction. Cotel just kind of instantly was like, no, no, I didn't have a problem with it at all. Tori did not really seem to be on the same page there. And yeah, understandable. I mean, he wasn't breaking up a double play, right? That wasn't the situation.
Starting point is 00:49:41 There wasn't really a reason to be as aggressive as he was in that moment, at least I don't think. So I think it's a valid, a valid case for sure. I don't think it was intentionally dirty, but it definitely was a dirty slide. Like it hurt a guy and he went five feet past the base. I could not watch that and say that there was, now, I mean, the extra effort might not have been with the intent to hurt him. But the extra effort was definitely there to like knock the ball out. out of his hand and just some old school gritty baseball that we don't allow anymore because it causes injuries to star players that then miss time and then their team misses the playoffs
Starting point is 00:50:24 by a single goddamn game. Well, also Tori and Stubbs have a bit of a history as well. Like Garrett Stubbs, there's, he went on a podcast a while ago after the playoffs last year where he basically was like kind of talking down to Tori for using Garrett Stubbs's pool, jumping in the pool conversation as motivation for the Diamondbacks and was like, if you need that to fire up your team, I mean, by all means and was kind of being disingenuous about it. Sure. I'm sure Tori isn't really the biggest fan of Garrett Stubbs.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Guess what? It worked. Neither are we. Yeah. Feeling mutual. I will. I think I misspoke earlier. I don't think that Ketel had already injured the ankle.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I think this was the this was when the the ankle injury saga began and then there were a couple of other episodes to follow where he tried to return and did not look so sharp. So but yeah, it lingered. It was a factor the rest of the season, even though Katel was able to play most of the remainder of the games. He clearly was not was not comfortable in the box for for that whole time. Jesse on August 19th, our lives changed forever. My life specifically because I found it. new best friend. You did.
Starting point is 00:51:40 Just a new person to share my life with and go on fun adventures with and just, you know, create lifelong lasting memories. You're talking about your wife, right? Who? No. No, I'm talking about Archie Bradley. Archie I miss you right now. Archie Bradley, one of the greatest heirs of the Diamondbacks in history.
Starting point is 00:52:02 One of the most charismatic D-backs in franchise history became a part of our show. And we are forever thankful that we've been able to spend this time with Archie, have them on the show, get to do the stuff that we've gotten to do. More importantly, the conversations we've had off air that none of you get to see, those have been especially incredible. So, again, it's just been really cool. And for that reason, and based on his beard regiment that he let us know about, we're taking a little bit of that beard oil from Archie. And we're going to put that in the time capsule. Yeah, this, Archie actually could have been on today's show. I think he, I think he might have been normally.
Starting point is 00:52:43 Unfortunately, he's out of town, so we don't have an Archie appearance this week. But, yeah, Archie has been such a fun addition for us having him on about once a week, especially as the playoff race ramped up, having his perspective was really valuable. And yeah, it's not over. We expect to have Archie back on next week and here for the foreseeable future. Yeah, it's a lot of fun to have him on. And I mean, we're both huge fans of the guy. And I know, like, it's just been really cool to get him,
Starting point is 00:53:11 gets to know him on a personal level. Also, for me, it was a proud fatherly moment when I came back from getting a drink of water to see Jesse and Archie going over Archie's stats together. And I was like, oh, they're nerd-n-out. All right. But we never know where Archie is, to be honest. And I have no idea where he is right now. But I hope he's safe.
Starting point is 00:53:32 And I hope he's drinking plenty of water. Okay, so our next Next next You want to do the next one? Sure Yeah You thrown an apology While you're at it
Starting point is 00:53:45 While you're doing this one Yeah No no no No we've been We've been over this But on September the 8th Pavin Smith had a pretty good baseball game And it felt it felt like we needed to
Starting point is 00:53:58 I don't think this was the only three homer game By it by a Diamondbacks player this season Gino Suarez, I know had one for sure, but it was pretty incredible. This was a big game on national TV with Justin Verlander on the mound, and Pavin Smith hit three home runs in this game. He had an opportunity to hit for the home run cycle in this game, which has never happened in an actual Major League Baseball game. He was not quite able to pull that off, but still a remarkable performance from Pavin.
Starting point is 00:54:32 And also it just felt right to have something Pavin Smith related in the time capsule because... Like an apology note? No, no. It felt right to have something in the time capsule because Pave and Smith far exceeded expectations this year and had an OPS of right around 900. He really came up big in some spots down the stretch. So what specific item did you want to take? We are going to put a lock of Paveen's hair in there. Let's throw a lock of Pavon's lunch.
Starting point is 00:55:02 just red air in there so we never forget the guy that some people are calling ginger Jesus in my in our in our discord but I that's that might be sacrilegious so I'm not going to go that far but thank God for Payman Smith and thank God for that lock of his red hair. All right. So next item that we have is a terrible item and an item that we probably shouldn't preserve for future generations but it's more of a cautionary tale as to what can happen to your franchise or any team at any point. I put this one in there and it's actually tear-soaked. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:39 Oh, that's a good idea. Yeah, it's got a little bit of- I cried all over on accident. But, yeah, the item that we're talking about is the score sheet for the Diamondbacks game on September 22nd versus the Milwaukee Brewers, aka the largest blown lead in franchise history, Diamondbacks blowing an eight-to-nothing lead. in this game or yeah it was eight to nothing in the third inning uh and yeah that's this is this is the game this is the one game we're going to think about for a very long time considering how the
Starting point is 00:56:14 diamond backs fell just one game short of the postseason yeah i was going to say it's you know it would have been terrible but it's not so bad because it didn't wind up making that big of a difference at the end of the day uh but uh boy did it it kind of If the Diamondbacks had had not blown this eight-run lead, who knows? Maybe they'd still be playing postseason baseball right now. And it wasn't just the one game. And, you know, anytime you blow a lead this big, it's going to be painful. Tori Lavello in his exit interview acknowledged that he feels like something changed to this day.
Starting point is 00:56:51 The Diamondbacks lost a little bit of momentum and they looks a little bit hungover, you know, the two first games that they played back in Arizona against the Giants. and yeah if the diamondbacks managed to win any one of any of those games the this one or or any of those games in that final week the diamondbacks would have made the playoffs this is this is one we're going to remember for a long time i mean from from that point on jesse the diamondbacks lost a lot of baseball games to end they lost five of their last seven including including that one yeah and if they'd won that game they would have it would have been a four game sweep of the brewers i mean it would have it would have have been almost unthinkable if they could miss the postseason at that point. But you got to play all nine innings. And the Diamondbacks dominated the first three. And then the Brewers just kept on chipping away.
Starting point is 00:57:43 And there was a fly ball that Pavin Smith clanked in right field that sort of stood out as kind of a turning point. He's doing good. Do you see, you will never apologize? You'll never apologize. I said earlier that Pavin out a great season. I don't know what more you people want for me. But yeah, that, that was a really tough one. AZ Catch G, thank you so much for your super chat.
Starting point is 00:58:08 Azy Catch G says the Pavin, the three-headed King Snake that game. He really was incredible in that Pavan Smith game. The September 8th game, yes, yes. This game, not so much. That game, not so much. What do you got? Yeah, going, kind of marching toward the end of the season here. We give out our local BBWAA awards
Starting point is 00:58:30 in the final weekend of the season. I got to be a part of that this year. And we have a most valuable player award that goes to a Diamondbacks player every year. And the winner was Cotel Marte this year. And rightfully so, here is a picture of all of the boys.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Just the boys, all the fellas of which I am won, apparently I gave Zach Gowan his most valuable pitcher award. But really what we're focusing on is Catell, who you can see there. And I think this, This is, we needed to have some sort of Catelle Mento in here at some point because this was not another Corbin Carroll led Diamondbacks team.
Starting point is 00:59:10 This was a Catelle Marte led Diamondbacks team. Not to say that Catell wasn't really good last year as well. He absolutely was. He was even better in the postseason. But Cotel Marte carried the Diamondbacks throughout 2024 and he absolutely deserved the award that he got. Yeah. I don't think there's much else you can add to that. It wasn't just that the Diamondbacks was,
Starting point is 00:59:33 or that Catell was the Diamondbacks MVP. He was in consideration for the NL MVP at one point. His numbers justified that. So unfortunately, going back to why Garrett Stubbs is trapped inside of this time capsule to never be released again, it was a huge impact on that final stretch, that final two weeks of the season for the Diamondbacks to not have Cotel Marte at 100% and to not have them on the field for that.
Starting point is 00:59:59 them in so many games. So yeah, it's unfortunate that that happened. And of course, he was just, he was vital. And missing him and him not being it right, it also showed how vital he was to the Diamondback success.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Yeah, should we go to the next one? Do you want to, you probably don't want any part of this one. No. You can do the last one. So, yeah,
Starting point is 01:00:20 we talked about this. I told you about this one in there. And I did it anyway. We talked, we talked about the September 22nd game and how, that was a real backbreaker for the Diamondbacks. They had that 8-0 lead.
Starting point is 01:00:34 They wound up losing that game. But that's not to me, Derek, when the season really ended for the Diamondbacks. They still had a shot. They still had a homestand against the Giants and a Padres team that didn't really have any motivation to win in two out of the three games. And yet, after losing the first game against the Padres, the Diamondbacks on Saturday, the day before the end of the regular season, they had an opportunity to win a baseball game
Starting point is 01:01:03 against the Padres B team. The Padres did not start all of their normal position players. They started Randy Vasquez on the mound. And Randy Vasquez went out and threw six scoreless innings against them. And they could not score a run to save their lives. And then the most stunning thing that happened that day came in the top half of the ninth inning when AJ Puck, who had been absolutely sent.
Starting point is 01:01:27 sensational for the Diamondbacks throughout his time with the team. He hung a slider to Kyle Higashioka and Higashioka did not miss it. It broke a scoreless tie, gave the Padres a 1-0 lead, and the Diamondbacks wind up losing a game that they really, really, really had to have. And for it to come in this situation with AJ Puck watching a ball fly as far as that one did, And it wasn't just that one. It was Brandon Lockridge. You also hit a home run immediately afterward.
Starting point is 01:02:02 It was, it was tough. It was, it was a brutal way for the Diamondbacks to lose and ultimately for their postseason hopes to slip away. That was one of the worst sporting event experiences of my entire life. Yeah, you were, you were there, right? Like, I wish there was like a way we could put the high fives of Padres fans over top of my head that were happening between rows. Well, I think like,
Starting point is 01:02:28 Jesse just wanted this ball in there no matter what. First he wanted it as the Randy Vasquez game ball. And then I said, no, absolutely not. And then he just found another way to put the same baseball in the same container. Found a loophole and put a different baseball from the same game. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:02:43 the Kyle Higashioka home run, which was just, yeah, just an unbelievable moment. That ball. Yeah, you can throw it back if you want. It's going in the time capsule.
Starting point is 01:02:54 But if you want to throw it out of there, I can't stop you. Last but not least, it's another sad item, and that is an item we can only speculate on if it existed. Oh, I feel pretty good that it existed. We know, we know. We know it existed. We're fairly certain we saw it getting wheeled back to whatever
Starting point is 01:03:13 levee's stand it was going to be sold from. But the last item is a case of the alcohol that we know lived somewhere at Chase Field on Monday, September 30th, while the Diamondbacks watched that double header between the, the Mets and the Braves, hoping that they would get to crack those bottles of champagne and those bottles of beer and spray them all over each other because they made the postseason. And those cases of neutral. And those amazing cases of neutral, which are delicious and refreshing, by the way.
Starting point is 01:03:43 And instead, no, no, those, that alcohol would und drank. It got covered up and never to be seen ever again. I don't know. I don't know about that. But we'll give it a home is the point that I'm making. And this item might not necessarily make it into the capsule after all that we talked about here at the end. We were on a real high there for a moment. As we got here towards the end, things that's sad.
Starting point is 01:04:08 But it wouldn't be it wouldn't be right, Derek. The idea of a time capsule is you want people many years from now to be able to look back and get a sense for what happened. And we can't have a bunch of just positive items. Like we have to have some, we have to be real about. But the neutral cans can be empty. It's like what I tell Max about these weed containers over here. These jars don't have to actually have wheat in them. I can take the weed out and keep it and the jars can still be there.
Starting point is 01:04:36 And nobody's going to know the difference unless somebody blabs about it on their stupid show. I don't know. Somebody just did. But yeah, that's pretty much it for our time capsule. We hope you guys enjoyed it. We want to hear from you guys. So make sure to leave your items that you want in the time capsule in the comments and live chat. We appreciate you guys doing that so much.
Starting point is 01:04:58 Ernesto wants the collective sadness and disappointment of how the, how the season ended. Oh, I'll carry that with me for the rest of my life. Oh, yeah. That lives inside of all of us. That's the time capsule in our hearts whenever we think back upon this season and 2018.
Starting point is 01:05:14 Ugh. Well, we do have a few more ads before we get out of here. So make sure you guys don't go anywhere. We're not done yet, David. Nice try. He tried to get out of here. David tried to pull the plug on the show. Holy cow.
Starting point is 01:05:33 But of course, once we're done drinking that leftover alcohol from Chase Field, we need to pair that with some zbiotics because of zbiotics is the best way to get over any kind of feelings of feeling terrible the next day after a fun night of drinking. Because let's face it, after a night of drinks, we don't bounce back the same way. We used to at least one of those guys in this room doesn't? The other one just is smart enough not to always do that. but I'm not. I'll tell you this, though, Zbiotics, thanks to Zbiotics,
Starting point is 01:06:02 I bounce back faster than ever because Zbiotics is a pre-alcohol that was first genetically engineered by scientists, by the way, PhD scientists to tackle the rough mornings after drinking. Starting point is 01:08:55 Well, we appreciate you guys so much for stopping by. We hope you enjoyed the time capsule, and I hope you guys have fun digging it up in 20 years. Good luck with those nachos I left in there. Where are we burying it? The same park where the Diamondbacks planted all those trees last year. Okay. The one that I did, remember when I planted trees was Randy Johnson?
Starting point is 01:09:15 That park. I know that park where I know where some we can. Where what? What park was it? It's up by me in the North Valley. I don't want to disclose it because then it's like, I'm telling you. We don't want anyone to find it yet. Yeah, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:09:28 No, because then there'll be people digging it up in like three days because they want all that stuff. Elizabeth says Barry in Saul's yard. That's a great idea. Maybe that's where our sunglasses are very shady rays. I still like him to bring those into us. That would be great. But of course, we appreciate you guys so much. We thank you for joining us.
