Starting point is 00:00:00 January 2nd. 2022, baby. I feel bad for the people that start off the year with, like, their house catching fire. Be like, oh, ready? I'm not starting off on the wrong foot. I'm starting off on the floor. I legitimately thought I got fingered by a ghost last night. I'm gonna break.
Starting point is 00:00:15 The horse? Five, four, three, two, one. Happy New Year. Whoop, whoop. Old, play Old Lang Sy. The, what? uh for all the patient we forgot and uh it's a it's an old skosh song how do you know the name of that how do you know the name of things how would you how do you think you spell old lang
Starting point is 00:00:40 sai old then lang already wrong god damn it what it's it's all old a u l d all right well you know what or something like that whoever came up with the dictionary you gotta fix it but it's a it's a it it's a song for remembrance and uh you know uh commemorants looking back on the past journey so you can play it on a a cruise ship a birthday a funeral but oh uh you can they play they play it on new year's eve happy new year's eve everybody welcome to the picky boys podcast in 2022 well today is new year's eve but no today's actually new year yeah oh yeah sorry today's year we're we're happy new year we're we're recording this on new year's eve but it is january 2nd yeah 2022 baby we've this is like this this is like our final like our
Starting point is 00:01:34 time capsule this is like the last the last skin of 2021 you know like a snake yeah yeah we're shedding that that good you know that year definitely shedding shedding that year definitely a year yeah although you know who knows yeah putting on a new skin yeah yeah i keep seeing these memes there was like it's 2022 yeah yeah 2020 i mean t-o-o yeah yeah i mean come on just stay away like relax everybody when i see a lazy meme there's nothing that pisses me off more than a lazy meme and you know i want to see the person who's behind that lazy meme and be like you know what that makes sense yeah yeah 2022 hopefully not hopefully we have a brand new year of good things good things you gotta start the year off good yeah yeah yeah i i feel bad for the people
Starting point is 00:02:23 that start off the year with like their house catching fire be like oh ready yeah because first like i know people say like oh well the oh the your your new year's resolution doesn't matter like like it's you shouldn't let it guide you you know there's always there's always those the influx of people in the gym and i get that and i hate the oh you shouldn't have uh resolutions you should have lifestyle changes it's like let me get in shape for three months then ruin it the next month and then try again and then wait till next year once i push it off too long like leave me alone yeah exactly and come on you know it's just like i i understand you shouldn't wait for the new year just to do the good things in your life it's a nice little but you know it what like
Starting point is 00:03:04 like like we always say like when we reflect on a year you don't you don't reflect you do it by year so it's it's it's just a natural point to start from and i and so so you know good luck unless you're already broken it oh that sucks okay i mean but no but this is this is the this is like the the the oxymoron of new year's okay is that uh on new year's eve i get ferociously blackout drunk yeah and then january 1st i'm a shell of human being yeah yeah and also like oh yeah my new year's resolution for the year is to drink less like i'm drinking till 3 p.m the fresh starting line of the new year yeah it's like i mean 3 a.m it's like i'm not starting off on the wrong foot i'm starting off on the floor yeah yeah i'm trying to get myself off the ground
Starting point is 00:03:52 someone's floor where am i it's january 1st i go oh god i need to make it I need coffee. Hair of the dog, please. Is that a real cough or is that in character? Yeah, I caught Ami. Oh, Jesus Christ. Yeah, we start January. The point is the year starts January 2nd.
Starting point is 00:04:13 The year starts January 2nd, which is today. So hopefully you're doing good and haven't failed any of your resolutions yet on the real New Year's Day. Yeah, on the real one, which is today, right now. We're experiencing it together. Yeah. You know who I hope doesn't have a good year? Who? There was this...
Starting point is 00:04:30 So I was at the deli or grocery store getting meats. And what would you call an older Karen? Kind of like a grandma Karen. Like a Kraken, I was thinking. I don't know why you've made it nautical. Is that the C? Yes. Nailed it.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Nailed it. 2022. No, I would... Also Karen? No, no. I would name it like a Betsy. Guilford? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Is that a man? Yeah, exactly. Like a Dottie. Dottie, yeah. Fuck you, Dottie. Yeah. Yeah, so I was at the- Or Mildred.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Yeah, I was at essentially the butcher section, you know, where you're getting the meats. And Mildred, that's a good one. And this Mildred freaking douche. So you know how the meat, like getting meat works, right? Like normal people, you're in line, you order it, and you don't just wait there like a slup and fucking wait for the meat and waste your time. So I ordered the meat while he was slicing it, the deli slicer, and I went to go get my other things. So now I have my stuff and I did leave the line, but I ordered.
Starting point is 00:05:39 And then I came and the line got very long. So I was just sitting, I was standing at the end waiting for my stuff. And the guy said, all right, what else do you want? Because, you know, he couldn't handle the whole order. and i said it and then this lady all way down the back of the line said you know there's a line right like while i'm holding my meat and then i think what i like i don't think i said anything that bad back to her but the line looked kind of shuck i was like i've been in line since before you were born lady so so like you know it was it wasn't like oh sorry ma'am it was a little
Starting point is 00:06:10 aggressive but and then everyone looked at me like oh wait where where are you right now like Are you at a real grocery store or are you at a New York store where it's so close together? No, no, no, like a C-Town or like a Stop and Shop or something like that. And so you ordered the meat and then you physically left, like you left more than a 10-foot distance? Yeah, yeah, yeah, because it was like I needed like two pounds of American cheese. This guy was going to be slicing. Oh, you're totally in the wrong. How am I in the wrong?
Starting point is 00:06:39 No, I mean, I understand what you're saying. You don't just wait there in front of the line because then if there's two counter people, that doesn't allow the line to move. But you don't just go away. That is so dumb. What a waste of time. You don't just walk away because what does he do with the cheese if you're not back? No, no. Just slaps it in the corner?
Starting point is 00:07:02 Yeah. First of all, yeah. And second of all, I made it back. And then starts with the next person, and then you come back, and Wally's in the middle of cutting the olive loaf for Mildred. I understand your need for efficiency, but this system only works if there's smart people like you. And every public system should be designed for dumb people.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Damn it. And so that system would never work. You have to stay there or else it all degrades into chaos. The real answer you're saying is like dumb people should have to wait in line. But if I pass the IQ test at the meat counter, I should be able to walk around and get my stuff. And also everyone took the comment like really taken back. Like I was supposed to respect this old bitch. And it's not like I said, hey, grandma, relax or I'll break your hip.
Starting point is 00:07:59 You know, I didn't pull that one out. Well, that would have been aggressive, especially, again, because I think in this situation, you're actually wrong. Literally, if I make it back before that last slice of cheese, I'm not innocent until proven guilty. But that's not what it's about, though. And then I didn't even need shit, and I kept ordering. That's when I was wrong, because she upset me. I was like, you know what? I'll take ham.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Oh, you know, turkey, too. I don't even like this one. Give it to me. That's unfortunately just not what it's about. Because there are plenty of things where, oh, if everybody did it right, then we could all enjoy the faster, easier, more efficient route. But people won't do it right. And so, therefore, everybody cannot have those privileges. It's actually similar to one of my biggest pet peeves of all time is when you're getting off a highway and you're on the exit.
Starting point is 00:08:59 and there's a line for the exits and then somebody goes right right before the exit stops and and merges in and cuts the line it's technically a zipper merge at the end like right at the exit point is what is supposed to happen like that is the best case scenario from a traffic pattern analysis perspective okay but but but we as human beings or at least as new yorkers are cannot be trusted to do such maneuvers and and and so and so that and so that's that you guess you just gotta wait on line like everybody else or sacrifice your car and try to jab your way in no you have to jab your way in you have to jab your way in i mean that's like 20 minutes i'm not gonna i'm not gonna miss my exit because of that but but because i mean i'll
Starting point is 00:09:52 jab my way in if i have to get in there but come on i'm not i'm not talking about that but but but But if I do it, I'll jab and I'll go, sorry, sorry. Sorry, sorry. Also, like, what does that have to do with my thing? Or do you just want to get that out? The point is that we can't all have the rights we should be afforded because of a select few who would leave the cheese on the counter. Leave the cheese on the counter. And then again, Mildred would be ordering her pastrami, and while she's ordering pastrami, and it is now supposed to be her turn, then this guy goes, hey, yo, where's my cheese?
Starting point is 00:10:38 Hey, I wasn't done yet. Why are you serving her? There's a line, lady. It was two pounds. I just go, oh, God, I got a loaf of salmonella. First of all, that man's voice, way too intimidated by society to put up a fight. True, yeah. i always say salmonella salmonella yeah yeah let me have disease bread yeah just can you get some
Starting point is 00:11:01 bread and then just put some raw chicken chicken juice on it please actually i want a raw chicken sandwich please yeah uh so unfortunately that like simply sweetly in every way possible 2022 is going to be spent inside of a machine oh my god because i just got i for for christmas i i I used some money I got, and I bought myself a Quest 2, the Oculus VR machine, and joined the Metaverse. And, dude, you can't get me out of this thing. Danny literally hasn't, like, he's like, oh, come hang out. And he's like, yeah, I will later. And he just runs back upstairs and puts on his little headsets, and I just hear stomping and falling and things knocking over.
Starting point is 00:11:44 When I'm not in it, I'm thinking about being in it. Yeah, Danny has a real, like, the first month of something is just, you can't stop him for a while. Well, you know, I mean, it's, I don't know. I truly think with this, I mean, not to the degree that it's been, but with this product, you're not going to be able to, this is not going to be a fad. And there's just too much to do. I was actually, because my sleep schedule has been sheet. It's been sheet recently. I was looking up VR cameras.
Starting point is 00:12:19 like we put it there and just have we could have someone just sit there kind of and watch us you know like a vr thing like they can be here too oh like the people watching like okay okay yeah like a vr you need the vr camera so so we can just do the podcast in vr yeah i mean it would be both like we i meant like someone who has vr like you like a danny can sit down and like watch it watch the podcast but also like look between oh yeah yeah yeah yeah oh but they can't see what's over there i mean we'll put up a curtain yeah but what if it escapes i mean oh like like the metaverse person could run around i don't know the technology no talking about the what's back there yeah i mean you know we'll we'll clean that body up we'll move that around all right
Starting point is 00:13:05 all right fine we'll put it in a vr camera but yeah i didn't say no whoa whoa that's some that's some zeros that's not what i'm saying no no but but yeah but no this is this this stuff is amazing i get that i can first of all i can be i can be in this thing for 10 hours yeah that that's the more impressive part like i'm in vr for an hour if i'm really playing a game that moves around maybe not golf or something or if you're watching something but i can't be in it too long i'm not i'm pretty good with motion sickness too but there's something it's just bashing golf that's a very that's a fairly intensive game you're standing in one spot and swinging i'm talking about a shooter where you're like don't cover jump that's true it's full body movement no i
Starting point is 00:13:44 understand the movement i'm talking about just like the having to go true no i i i can be that thing for 10 hours uh um um i'm planning on moving or at least testing out every experience that i can in the in this world i'm gonna work in the world i'm gonna i'm gonna paint i won't do it i have been i've been painting so much it's been it's this has been astonishing for my creativity that I obviously needed to get out, but I just didn't want to spend money on materials. Yeah, and you also didn't want to go vandalize a billboard. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Well, I've also been classically painting as well. Oh, look at you. With a canvas and whatnot. I think I got... I legitimately thought I got fingered by a ghost last night. Let's get into it. Yeah, sure. So, like...
Starting point is 00:14:38 All right, so this is what happened. I've been watching... A lot of good horror movies came out. I've been watching horror movies and I was laying down on the couch and my phone, like I didn't really feel it, but my phone fell out of my pocket while I was laying down and it just went in such, such the perfect position where I turned and it literally went straight like in between my crack and I kind of, I kind of like actually got scared because it felt like a finger, like someone was touching me and I literally out loud, oh, I got scared.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Wait, what are you talking about? Wait, what? Like my phone. Speak slowly. It fell? My phone fell, like I was laying down on the couch I was laying down So my phone fell out
Starting point is 00:15:15 I think I said that, I was on the couch Yeah, I didn't hear it Because I was like, how is this a bed? How is it How did it go in his ass And how did he drop it And then did it go through the cushion Like I was laying on my back
Starting point is 00:15:32 Did it go through the box ring That's a real ghost then That's like a ghost I think I ghosted finger it scared the shit out of me it's like those just those little moments where it's like oh i'm an idiot yeah yeah no i've i definitely had that there there are some couches that really do feel like ghost of the void oh dude my couch could swallow shack bro yeah like i feel like i could i i yeah your your couch your couch specifically like i feel like if i put my
Starting point is 00:16:01 like into your couch i could like step in is that gold like i can step inside it's a gluttonous hungry couch and it's so goddamn annoying oh my god and then some of them are even worse than your couch because at least the good part about your couch is when something falls it it goes straight like falls and you could it hits the floor and you go that's on the floor now i don't know you you go god fuck damn it but but there are some couches that for some reason they thought it was a good idea to like have an enclosed oh did i bottom yeah and so and so now your stuff is literally in the couch dimension and you and and you can't just lift up the couch to get it and you really have to you know get your you have to fist that thing like you're birthing a horse
Starting point is 00:16:45 you gotta put your arm really deep you hear you hear all you hear all the crabs yeah and you hear all the neighing and you're like and you're like i need this phone those are those old school couches i didn't know this was in there yeah i didn't expect that that's what it's like no i don't know that's what birthing a horse is like to my knowledge yeah i mean that's what it looks like joey no it's a kangaroo that's unbelievably a kangaroo uh a winnie no that's what that's that's the poo no no that's that's what a horse does like does yeah that's that's the winnie that's the winnie yeah that's the winnie yeah yeah you know what piece of culture we missed out on because we're new yorkers
Starting point is 00:17:35 um the horse riding serious horse girls like supposedly okay here we go so supposedly like horse girls are like a or like a a group of people um not a ride this is this no this is you know they're like group people that like their activity is riding horses and supposedly they suppose supposedly there's like a you know there's like a horse girl you know stereotype you know and what is it and we i and and we don't even know i don't know a horse girl yeah me neither like someone who owns a horse i don't know i don't know that's like just taking i don't know someone owns a horse because you know owning a horse here is like this like i feel like this very pompous activity yeah it's like the it won the triple crown where on earth are you
Starting point is 00:18:27 gonna find a horse and a place to ride the horse oh these are a place to ride horse no way maybe the only people that are lucky enough to ride a horse freely are the cops at central park those they even still have horses yeah they do or they make that up but yeah i don't know why they have horses i know it's fucking well to get me just like a you can't just drive through central park you know maybe it's like oh i gotta go and you fucking that's true you actually have a good vantage point as well up there you ever been on a horse i mean i don't think the vantage point is the is the uh no i've never been on a horse side note really i don't know why that's surprising i'll be honest we just had this whole no horses here so is your hymen still intact i think so
Starting point is 00:19:03 yeah oh good for you no no i played baseball oh a lot of sliding i think you'd tear that shit ride up i don't think that's i don't i i guess any any if you think i know how to rip behind because you don't know how to ride a bike either oh that's a good point the bike and fuck you by the way i yeah either either way i can ride a bike i was very i i rode a horse once incredibly uncomfortable dude it's very uh the group of the group of people that i was with one of the horse nade buck buck that bitch right off the back sometimes i've seen it happen where the horse does that and then just keeps going it like falls on the person it's like it's just like body slam them yeah yeah it's like it's like they're in wwe now it's like oh i didn't like
Starting point is 00:19:49 what you did that's a dead person yeah i am yeah that is a dude horses are terrifyingly strong they're so big but yeah i saw i saw this horse just buck this lady off and and you know the horse the the guy in front is like don't worry don't worry he can sense your fear it's like well i am i am afraid i am rattling like i'm like oh my god it's like please please don't happen to me this thing cannot buck me off and it didn't but it's it was semi hard to control sometimes also like just like watching people ride a horse very they are riding that damn horse like the ones that are riding it riding it yeah yeah yeah but but that's also the thing as a as a as a as a big bigger boy big bull what what what what am i like like i just have this pre-installed fear in me
Starting point is 00:20:40 that i'm gonna break the horse the horse dude truly like i like like or what or or or the chair or the or the or anything anything that i can break by sitting on it i i'll break dude and it's so unfortunate that in the back of my mind that's that's what i'm thinking is i'm gonna i'm gonna i'll break it i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm going to break it like and everyone's gonna laugh at me yeah no one's gonna laugh at me and i'm gonna have to go to a horse funeral it's like yeah exactly i think we're not riding no more like like we're gonna have to put it down because it broke its ankle yeah the owner's like you gotta do it pal yeah it's like this this this horse was in world war ii and you killed it i've seen this horse carry a tank and then you
Starting point is 00:21:29 shattered its ankles shattered it but yeah so i'm i'm just anything i can sit on i am afraid that it'll break oh dude i mean i feel like that's any like the dreaded the dreaded old chair that everybody has that everyone's that all the people who know know all people that don't know sit on it you know because if someone if if some normie breaks a chair then everybody laughs and says oh it must be the chair but if i sit on a chair that is broken yeah somebody else broke it yeah then they go oh jesus christ oh damn it come on lay off the cupcakes buddy yeah like look what you're gonna buy me this my grandma's chair yeah we were we were at a apartment once and we're it's like you know it's the the musical chairs of death or ridicule i guess but
Starting point is 00:22:14 you know our skinniest friend happened to be the one to break the chair so we could all laugh at him yeah that's the best case scenario yeah it's like okay same same thing so anyone exactly like a horse like if the like if if you know a jockey you know a little frenchman gets up and gets up and shatters the horse's ankles but that's a weak that's a pussy horse you know you don't blame the person yeah but well well well so so this is see this is like i just don't know anything about horses like so this is like what the guy was telling me is that you're not going to break the horse like this is this like this isn't even close to this this isn't even work for this thing like it is all muscle it does does not care that you are on its back i mean they've like think just
Starting point is 00:23:00 think about cowboys you know they had a dynamite on this satchel yeah yeah exactly gold on this one you know a prostitute hanging over the back tied up but i haven't done it since one day i'm okay one day one day in the future and we have a bit a million subscribers and we can afford our own like show that we can produce properly we're just gonna do the picky boys does the things that we were ridiculing from afar and see how we like yeah yeah is it really that bad that's gonna be the name of the show that whole thing quotations yeah um i'm okay i don't gotta ride a horse i would love being the ones like danny look what you're gonna do today no no you can't be like the the like the joe rogan to my fear factor that can't you that that's that's getting
Starting point is 00:23:56 off too easy yeah yeah you're probably right you gotta joe rogan also should have had to drink like some kind of horse cum or something like i feel like he got away way too easy yeah that's true he there should have been like a there should have been like a if if all the teams beat under the time then he had to do it yeah you know reverse card yeah yeah or like today you guys are facing me you know or something it's like whoa and he's like you have to drink this horse cum and then get out of my guillotine chokehold it's like okay well yeah i mean the shit they used to do in that show is depraved yeah that someone said like like it like the show is somehow worse in reality than it is in my memory like when i watch an episode i'm like oh my god like this is
Starting point is 00:24:45 like first of all like truly repulsive and like to a degree where it's almost not entertaining yeah the eating the eating stuff was all right but i'm talking more i think i'm not talking about the eating oh you said repulsive yeah i thought you meant the eating oh well i mean i mean the eating stuff is part of it yeah but but but even just like the the here's a here's a fucking olympic-sized swimming pool of cow guts and blood you you have to find the the spleen but only with your mouth it's like gross like okay that's this isn't fear i'm just upset you know like who is the executive producer and we gotta keep an eye out on this guy because he's on watch yeah this is fucking jigsaw here yeah yeah uh no i i mean more like the all right so you guys are gonna be
Starting point is 00:25:34 uh submerged in water and they're gonna be metal bars trapping you underneath shimmy them out and try to breathe i'm like oh you know what like it's just i don't want to do that broken joe listen joe i don't want to do that you know it's like i'm not really afraid don't want to do it yeah those those ones always seem less scary to me because you know you assume there's a team of medical professionals there that wouldn't actually let you die in this in your typical fear situations like the height and the water like you wouldn't you would think you wouldn't actually die yeah but there's always a chance where this douche didn't buckle my harness and i'm falling a hundred stories or this metal bar gets jammed a little too tight there's always always that true but but
Starting point is 00:26:19 but that's but that that's why i think the the other stuff is more scary is because they can lean into that because they know like they know we can put this person in a vat of cockroaches for 10 hours and they're not going to die. There's no threat of death. We could dump a thousand snakes
Starting point is 00:26:38 on this man and just see how long he lasts. Because of that they go harder on those stunts. Yeah, it's disgusting. I've always wanted to be on TV. But not in like a What do you want to do? I don't want to be in the system. you know though oh like you don't want to be an a-list actor i don't want to be i don't want to
Starting point is 00:26:57 be an actor i just want to be on tv you know okay like like that's that's that's why these shows are such a good oh so like this you can or like you run behind like a news station and say something stupid yeah yeah oh yeah i i was i i was uh on the today show what like not i was i wasn't like a guest i was like seven years old they weren't like and here's danny moriarty well I feel like everything you've ever done happened between seven and nine. Yeah, I lived a very fulfilling life. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:27 It's like after nine, you could have died and been happy. Yeah, I'm trying to live this year like I'm nine years old. Like I'm nine years old. No, but yeah, I saw, it was a concert series. I used to be really into Daniel Powder.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Who's that? He's the guy who sings Bad Day, and he used to wear a beanie with a brim on it. So you have. And I saw him live, and I was very excited. And I got to see Al Roker. This is when he was still fat. And I asked him some dumb questions.
Starting point is 00:28:07 On air? No, no, no. But I said, ow, ow. How big's your shoe size? No, I asked him, like, why are we... I want a globe where it doesn't feel like you're upside down. You know, like if a person in the South Pole is standing on the South Pole, why don't they feel like they're upside down?
Starting point is 00:28:35 He does that in your dreams or crutches. He goes, I don't fucking know, kid. Get out of here. Yeah, he just said gravity, which is like not the answer. That is not why you – I mean – I don't think that's why you feel like you're not upside down. Like it didn't matter what the question was.
