Good day, everybody. It has been 10 years since Pints with Aquinas started.
Ten years. Some of you weren't even born. Or maybe you were like five. It's ridiculous.
And so today, my producer has taken a few phone calls from people. And I haven't heard these yet.
And we're going to play them. And I'm going to respond to them. But first, I just want to thank everybody for supporting Pints of Aquinas over the years.
I started it out. It was just an audio podcast in my basement. This was back when there was a handful.
of Catholic podcasts. I couldn't think of more than five, probably. And so it's been wild to see the
landscape change. I had a job at the time, like a real job. And I remember I'd be at conventions
for this job. And people would come up to me and they would say, they would only want to talk about
pines with Aquinas, which made me feel very awkward because, you know, it wasn't my job. And my
beautiful wife, who I love, I went to her and I said, hey, I think the Lord wants to
us to take pints with Aquinas full time. But if I quit my job, we would be making $30,000 a year
because it would be through like Patreon at the time. And we'd have no health insurance,
which was really scary because we had four kids and my beautiful wife who is sick a lot and
often goes to hospital. So it's a bit of a downer. I'm sorry for laughing. But anyway,
because she's so beautiful, she said, yeah, let's do it. So man, I'd love to go find that podcast.
back in the day because I had I quit my job and I remember recording a podcast and telling everybody
hey I would just really love it if you could support me for five or ten bucks a month or something
and people started to do that and it was really was it scary it was kind of scary but my wife and
I are crazy so anyway it's really grown from there and so I just want to say thank you to everybody
it's been really this has been such a beautiful adventure I have had such a great time meeting and
discussing beautiful things with beautiful people. And so many of you have written in and told me
how different interviews have changed your life or brought you to faith or helped you come back
to faith. And so, you know, that's really edifying. I want to say thank you too for everybody
who's encouraged me when I made this shift to Daily Wire. It was not without its controversy.
But so many of you have been so kind and supportive in the comment section, you know, you gave me
the benefit of the doubt. You said, okay, like, let's just try.
Matt and see, you know, maybe he's right. Maybe the show won't change. Maybe he'll be able to produce
more content. And so many of you have written and said, this has not disappointed. So I'm so
grateful to you. Final thing I'll say, I'm so grateful. I think we sent personal letters to over.
I'm going off memory, but it was about 140 monasteries and convents and begged for prayers.
We did this right before the move to Daily Wire. So thank you. Thank you so much. All right, as I say,
So we've had a bunch of people call in.
My producer Maria sourced these phone calls.
They're essentially voice mails that I haven't heard yet,
and I'm going to play right now and respond to it.
So here's the first one.
Hi, Matt.
This is Anna Maria.
I'm calling to tell you about how Pines have influenced my life.
When I was 14 years old, my parents realized that I hid the face
and was just a deeply unhappy person, an angry person.
an angry person.
And so they took me out of school and homeschool me.
And as I was exposed to the faith in a new way through homeschooling,
I began asking a lot of questions, hard questions that I thought would never be answered by Catholicism.
Wow.
And through that, I found your show.
My mom loves your show.
And I always heard her talking about it.
And so I started watching it.
And thankfully, you and your guests answered so many of my questions.
Awesome.
And so I'm just really grateful because of the show and now almost turning 19 soon.
Come on.
How much?
This is, man, the older I get, the more I just cry over anything.
My dad does this.
My dad's like 70.
And he comes over and visits us.
and like sees the grandkids and just like turns into a puddle. So, sorry about that. Um,
this is so beautiful. I'm so glad. This is what's amazing about doing a show for so long. Like,
and before the show, I would travel around and give high school talks and talks at universities.
This was like a thousand years ago. That's when I started doing this. It was literally a thousand
years ago. So Andrew Claven came up to me and said that when he was six, he heard me speak.
Um, no, but I meet people and they say, yeah, like, you.
I met this nun, and she said, you came and gave a talk to me in our school.
It's crazy.
I keep forgetting how old I am.
Okay, back to the voicemail.
The show has taught me who the Lord is.
And I just, I love our Lord very much now, and I'm not sure where I would be without pints.
And I'm just very grateful for how you have shown me the Lord.
So thank you and God bless.
That is so beautiful.
I'm pretty sure you said your name was Anne-Marie or Anna-Marie.
Let's check that again.
Hi, Matt.
This is Anna Maria.
Anna Maria, maybe.
God bless you.
Thank you so much for sending that.
You know, I want to give a bit of advice to everybody who runs a YouTube channel out there.
It can be so tempting to think that everybody is a troll.
Because when you're online, there is a lot of trolling.
There's a lot of sardonic comments and bitterness.
But when you meet auditing, you know,
people like in the world, it's not like that. Thank goodness. It's not like that. At least that
hasn't been my experience. I gave a talk at Penn State recently. And there was a line of people and
I was meeting them. And it was so funny because I had my guard up. Like at some point they were
going to like call me a dirty Jew for joining the Daily Wire or something like that. Because
that's like a solid 10% of my comments. And so like they would say, hey. And I'm like, what are you
going to say, okay, what am I going to respond? And they were all just so normal. Like, thank you.
Your show has helped me. So that's my advice. I'm sure you're not being called a dirty Jew,
but maybe you are. But, yeah, like, get outside and meet people who engage with your content.
Because when you actually meet human beings, the story is much different. It's like this. So
thank you very much, Anna Marie. All right, let's play this next one.
Hi, I'm Jacob Klein. I'm 28, and I've been listening to find that again.
Hey, I'm Jacob Kleinhens. I'm 28 and I've been listening to Pines with the Quineas
since I was 20.
Pines of the Aquinas has prepared me for my vocation of leading my wife and children in the faith.
It also helped me to learn our Catholic faith better, which led to me starting a local
young adult group about seven years ago.
That's amazing.
That has grown to over a thousand people getting involved over the years.
Did he just say a thousand people getting involved over the years?
Let's see.
Over a thousand people getting involved over the years here in Midwestern Ohio.
So God willing, Pinesworth Aquinas will continue for many years, informing and inspiring people that will impact generations to come.
Thanks.
God bless.
Jacob, thank you very much for that.
That's really kind of you.
And God bless you for doing the hard work.
You know, it's one thing to run a podcast.
It's another thing to try to start something in person, which is really where I think all of this YouTube activity ought to be leading us.
So God bless you for the good work you're doing.
Yeah, that's amazing.
And, you know, you said may Pines with Aquinas remain for many years.
years and you know I hope I mean what I'm about to say I and if even if I don't mean it because I'm
filled with self-love and whatever I think I should mean it namely may the good Lord do whatever
I remember hearing an orthodox priest saying preach the gospel die and be forgotten and that's good
advice. So I won't pray that pints last any more than a, you know, a day from here. But just that,
yeah, so many, there are so many amazing people who are stepping up to the plate doing YouTube content now.
Amazing people. So when I become senile and it's time to quit, that's okay. All right, let's take a look at
this third one. Hey, Matt. My name is Laura. I'm very nervous leaving this message. But I just wanted to say,
Thank you so much. I was raised Catholic, but drifted away in adulthood like a lot of us.
For years, I felt this poll to come back to the church, but I didn't really know how to take that step.
I first heard you on Ben Shapiro show, which led me to Pines.
Interesting. I get this a lot when I'll do these bigger interviews on Matt Walsh's show or Ben's show.
Have I ever been on Matt Walsh's show? I don't know. I forget.
I've definitely been on Ben's show and other people's show.
It's really crazy to see people who kind of accidentally stumble across it
and then go down the pints with the Quina's Catholic rabbit hole.
So I'm so glad, Laura, that that happened with you.
The episode that really changed things for me was The Shroud.
Something about that conversation just cracked my heart open,
and it made faith feel real and historical, not just something that was sentimental.
And it sparked this curiosity in me and not just myself and my husband as well, which has been such a wonderful gift for me because I don't want to do this journey on my own.
What's really wild is that this journey that you've kind of led me through happened just prior to a breast cancer diagnosis.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I really don't think I would have been able to get through the diagnosis, the treatment,
and now the recovery the same way without being back within the church.
The rosary especially, it became my anchor and my quiet guide and my comfort throughout the day.
And by God's grace, I'm cancer-free.
Praise the Lord.
And I feel more at peace in my faith than I ever have.
ever before truly a blessing.
My husband and I are now trying to raise our two-year-old and five-year-old in the fullness
of the Catholic faith, giving them something that we laughed when we were growing up.
Yeah.
And your show has been such a blessing to our home.
It genuinely helped lead all of us back to Christ.
So I want to thank you and tell you that your work truly matters, and it has changed my
life. Thank you. Laura, you're so beautiful. Thank you for sending me that beautiful message,
even though you were nervous to do so. I'm very grateful for it. And God bless your husband,
who's blessed to have a good wife like you. And God bless your two beautiful children who you're
raising in the faith. How lovely. Yeah, the interview you're referring to is my interview with
Andrew Dalton, Father Andrew Dalton on the shroud. I want to see how many views that has.
because that was amazing.
3.5 million views and it was a three hour and seven minute podcast.
That was an outstanding episode.
Maria, if you can link to that below.
If you haven't watched it, go and watch it.
It hasn't got 3.7 million views for no reason.
Andrew Dalton's amazing.
I remember halfway through that episode,
I felt so convicted by the Holy Spirit that people were converting.
while they were watching this part of the show.
And I even said as much.
I think I don't even, I forget, because it was a while ago,
but we stopped and said a prayer for all those who may right now be converting
because of what they were hearing.
And so many people in the comments actually said that that was true.
So come on.
Yeah, Father Andrew Dalton, what a guy.
Thank you so much for sending me that, Laura.
That's really beautiful of you.
We have one final voicemail.
Hi, Matt.
This is Joanna calling from the UK.
I just wanted to tell you about how.
how Paisal de Quimus has helped me in my faith journey.
When I was giving birth to my little daughter about two years ago,
I played an intercessory prayer to marry to ask for the faith to get through a difficult birth
and for me and my daughter to make it through okay.
I don't know why I did this because, although I had been raised in the Protestant faith,
I've been an atheist for most of the past 30-odd years,
so it was a very unusual thing to do.
but we made it through
and I really believe
God intervened for me in
making that breath of success
and bringing us through it all right as I had asked
via Mary for him to do
shortly after that I listened to your
episode on Ben Shapiro's show
balancing faith and reason
again an unusual thing for me to do
but it seems to get to the very gist
of the issue that I was grappling with
why did faith and reason
seem to be incompatible with one another
and if they are incompatible which one should I choose
and that show really answered my prayers.
It was the reasoned I'm trying for.
And after that, I dived into the Paintsbett catalog and realized not only a faith and reason,
not incompatible with one another, it's actually more reasonable and supported by reason to have faith.
See, these are my favorite stories, right?
Just like Judaism led into Christianity.
Ben Shapiro is leading into Pines with Aquinas.
Good job, Ben.
And this freed me in so many ways to believe in God and trust myself to God.
And so here we are two and a bit years later on, a year and a half later on.
I'm regularly attending Mass.
I'm being catechized in the more sort of traditional way.
Praise God.
By the priest and the wonderful people at my local Catholic Church.
And so happy in my faith and full of love of God and Jesus Christ.
And a lot of that is thanks to you and to paint.
So thank you and keep up for good work.
Gali, that's really beautiful.
Thank you so much for that.
And thanks to everyone.
Again, I know it sounds like cliche to say this.
So I kind of feel it feels fake saying it, but I really mean it if you have supported us in any way
From 10 years ago, like there's people who are watching probably here who are like I was listening to 10 years ago and I gave you five bucks a month on Patreon or
I used to be part of that Marco Polo group you used to do and like thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Because this is a community, right? In a way, I know it's not a
like in person flesh and blood community, but it's a community in this sense. We have people all over the world who have been following the show who
who have been supporting this show.
So it involves you.
It involves the people the show has reached.
It involves my beautiful guests.
Thank you for being a part of this.
And yeah, this has been a real delight and a real honor.
It's important, I think, to pause from time to time.
And just stop and reflect and thank God for the fruits that he has allowed out of this little apostolate.
God bless you.
Thanks.
Thank you.
