Continuing on with the Bible. Let's get into it.
David counts to fighting men. 24.
Again, the anger of the Lord.
Again, the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against him, saying,
Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.
So the king said to Job in the army commanders with him,
go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dante's Beersheba,
and enroll the fighting men,
and enroll the firemen,
I may know how many are there, there are.
But Joelle replied to the king,
May the Lord your God multiply the troops a hundred times over,
and may the eyes of my lord, the king, see it.
But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?
The king's word, however, overruled Joab and the army commanders.
So they let the presence of the king to enroll the fight a man.
of Israel.
After crossing the Jordan,
they camped near
Aurora,
south of the town and the
George,
and then went through
Gad and onto
Jazzor.
They went to
Glead in the region of
Tatim
Hodshai, and
on to Dan
Janjohn
and around
toward Sidon. Then they went toward the fortress of Tyree and all the towns of the Hivites and Canaanites.
Finally, they went on to Beershibah and the Nejav of Judah.
After they had gone through the entire land, they came back to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and 20 days.
Joab reported the number of the fighting men to the king.
In Israel, there were 800,000 able-bodied men who could handle a sword.
And in Judah, 500,000.
David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men.
and he said to the Lord,
I have sinned greatly in what I have done.
Now, O Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant.
I have done a very foolish thing.
Before David got up the next morning,
the word of the Lord had come to God, the prophet.
David's seer.
Go and tell David, this is what the Lord says.
I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.
So Gad went to David and said to him,
Shall there come upon you three years of famine in your land?
Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you.
Or three days of plague in your land.
Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer
the one who sent me.
David said to God,
I am in deep distress.
Let us fall into the hands of the Lord.
For his mercy is great,
but do not let me fall into the hands of men.
So the Lord sent a plague of Israel,
plague on Israel,
from that morning until the end of the time
designated.
In 17,000 of the people,
people from Dan to Beersheba died.
When the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord was grieved because of the
calamity and said to the angel who was afflicted in the people, enough.
Withdraw your hand, the angel of the Lord was then at the threshing floor of Arauna,
that Jubis said
When David saw the angel
who was striking down the people
He said to the Lord
I am the one who has sinned
And done wrong
These are but sheep
What have they done
Let your hand fall upon
Me and my family
David builds an altar
On that day God
And Gad went to
David and said to him
Go up and build
an altar to the Lord on the
fleshing floor
of Aranua
Arayuna
the Jubisite
so David went up as
the Lord had commanded
through GED
when
Ara Yuna
looked and saw the king
and his men coming
towards him
he went out and bowed down
before the king with his face
to the ground
Arayuna said,
Why has my Lord the king come to a servant
To buy your threshing floor?
David answered
So I can build an altar to the Lord
That the plague on the people may be stopped
Arahuna said to David
Let my Lord the king take whatever he pleases him
And offer it up
Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and here are the threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood.
O king, Ara Yuna gives all this to the king.
Ara Yuna also said to him, may the Lord your God accept you, but the king replied to Ara Yuna.
No, I insist on paying you for it.
I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.
So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid 50 shekels of silver for them.
David built an altar to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings.
Then the Lord answered prayer in behalf of the land and the plague on Israel was stupt.
We have reached the end of the chapter of 2 Samuel.
Did you know why was it wrong for David to count his army?
243.
The Bible does not say why it was wrong,
but many people think that this was a sign of pride
and how large David's army had grown.
Others think that David had begun to rely on military,
might instead of on the Lord.
But even Joab knew it was wrong.
He tried to keep David from ordering the census.
If I'm correct, this is where I have not read yet.
Did you know who were the Ghibionites?
21-1.
The Givianites were canonites who had tricked Joshua into making a treaty of peace.
See Joshua 9, page 246.
King Saul broke that treaty and tried to wipe out the Gibbyanites.
Second, Samuel 21 tells what David had to do to make up for soul's sin against the Gibbeonites.
Did you know what is another name for a song of praise?
A song of praise can also be called a peace song.
David wrote many of the peace songs in our Bible.
His most famous Peace Psalm in Peace Psalm 23, page 618, where he said,
The Lord is my shepherd.
Did you know who were David's mighty men?
238.
David's mighty men were war heroes.
Each of the mighty men was a famous fighter who had helped to win a great victory over Israel's enemies.
Some of these heroes in their recruits were.
courageous acts are highlighted in 2 Samuel 23.
Did you know why was it wrong for David to count his army?

Let's live it.
To Samuel 24, 18 through 25.
Using your own money.
David wanted some land where he could build an altar
and offer sacrifices to God,
where he can build an altar,
and offer sacrifices to God.
Read to Samuel 24, 18 through 25,
and find out why David insisted on paying for the land and animals himself.
Which do you think would please God most?
