Starting point is 00:00:23 Welcome to positivity successor, episode 377. Today's topic, what we're talking about is revenge. So let's get into it. Revenge. Revenge is something that isn't okay in the world to do. But in circumstances, when someone has a one-up on you, it's okay to get the one-up on them and make it even even between one-up on them. shouldn't have to end with violence or dissension with one another. It shouldn't have to be that way. It should have to still be together. Has friends, a unit, anything, even in relationships, all the social,
Starting point is 00:01:46 communication aspects in life. Because in Let's Live it, Judges 151 through 17. Revenge. Samson was strong, but he was not always good or wise. Once when the Philistines had tricked
Starting point is 00:02:11 Samson, he became very angry and decided to get even to get revenge. Read Judges 15, 1 through 17. Did Samson's revenge help anyone? The Philistines? The Israelites?
Starting point is 00:02:34 Samson? Look at the three situations below in which you might be tempted to get even. What should you do? One, your sister follows your bike and brings it home, with a flat tire. Two, while you are walking down the hallway at school, a classmate runs by and accidentally
Starting point is 00:03:06 knocks your books out of your hands. Three, your parents punish you for something that isn't your fault. Rejudges 15, 1 through 17. Samson's vengeance on the Philistines, 15. Later on, at the time of wheat harvest, Samson took a young goat and went to visit his wife. He said, I am going to let, I am going to my wife's room, but her father would not let him let him go in.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I was so sure you thoroughly hated her, he said, that gave her to your friend. Isn't her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead. Samson said to them, This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines. I will really harm them. So he went out and caught 300, foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs.
Starting point is 00:04:42 He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails. Let the torches and let the foxes loose. And the standing grain of the Philistines, he burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves. when the Philistines asked who did this they were told Samson the Tim Knights son-in-law
Starting point is 00:05:15 because his wife was given to his friend so the Philistines went up and burned her and her father to death Samson said to them since you acted like this I won't stop until I give up my revenge on you.
Starting point is 00:05:35 He attacked him viciously and slurred many of them. Then he went down and stayed in a cave in the rock of Etem. The Philistines went up and camped in Judah, spraying out near Leahy. The men of Judah asked, why have you come to fight us? We have come to take Samson prisoner. They answered, to do to him as he did to us. Then three thousand men from Judah went down to the cave in the rock of Adam and said to Samson, don't you realize that the Philistines are rulers over us?
Starting point is 00:06:27 What have you done to us? He answered, I merely did to them what they did to me. They said to him, We've come to tie you up and hand you over to the Philistines. Samson said, Swear to me that you won't kill me yourselves. Agreed, they answered. We will only tie you up and hand you over to them.
Starting point is 00:07:00 We will not kill you. So they bound him with two new ropes and let him. up from the rock as he approached the high the philistines came toward him shouting the spear of the lord came upon him in power the ropes on his arms became like charred flax and the bindings dropped from his pants finding a fresh jawbone of a donkey he grabbed it and struck down a thousand men then Samson said With the donkey's jawbone I have made donkeys of them With the donkeys
Starting point is 00:07:50 jawbone I've killed a thousand men When he finished speaking He threw away the jawbone And the place was called Ramath La Hia La Hai was very thirsty, he cried out to the Lord.
Starting point is 00:08:13 You have given your servant this great victory. Must I now die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircised? Then God opened up the hollow place in Lehigh, and water came out of it. When Samson drank, his strength returned, and he revived. until the spring was called and and Hacor and it is still there in La Hai
Starting point is 00:08:52 Samson led Israel for 20 years in the days of the Philistines So you see there shouldn't have to even be a revenge You shouldn't have to get one up on each other Revenge is not a good thing unless it's a good it's
Starting point is 00:09:22 it doesn't involve violence in the revenge but still like there should be peaceful and happiness on the other side
Starting point is 00:09:39 this not madness or negativity on the other side there should only be positivity and peacefulness and happiness
Starting point is 00:09:51 on the other side of whoever revenge revenge because shouldn't end in violence, shouldn't end in fighting drama, ending the drama, ending the argument, ending the disagreements, no dissensions, keeping the unity with one another. like a fun prank that you got one up on someone
Starting point is 00:10:28 that should put a fun prank to get one up on you too so that you're even with them like that kind of revenge not the not the extreme revenge I don't condone
Starting point is 00:10:45 revenge at all on this podcast just only if it's fun fun pranks that you got one up on each other, that you have a fun prank to get back on the other person, one up on each other. That's the only revenge that I condone. Not extreme, not an extreme, no extreme revenges. Only the fun prank revenges. So remember that. that when like the scenarios, your sister boroughs her bike and brings it home
Starting point is 00:11:34 with a flat tire should be an apology from the sister to try and get a, try to fix the flat tire. While you were walking down the hallway at school, a classmate runs by and accidentally knocks your books out of your hands. the other the student that knocked it out of your hands should be be apologizing and helping you get picking the books up to get back in your hands you put your parents punish you for something
Starting point is 00:12:13 that isn't your fault trying to clarify with them what the situation was that it was in the situation that it wasn't it wasn't their fault for them to realize and reconcile with you. So I hope this helps each other one of you today. Thanks to turn to Shimbabwe, and our episode, Positive, Your Successor. Remember to look back at the reflections at yourself in the mirror to all the beautiful and handsome people out there
