Welcome to Positively Successor, Episode 379.
Today's topic, what we're talking about is choose friends wisely.
So let's get into it.
choose friends wisely in life in this world, in this lifetime.
We want to make friends in the world.
And the friends that we pick, well, for example, I've been friends with all my high school
classmates, all of them I still are in contact with.
I still communicate with them. I'm still up to date with them.
Because they grew up in my childhood that they are worth staying together with as friends.
Every single one of them, it could be past 1,000, 2,000 that I went to school with.
still keep up to date with each other one of them.
When it's their birthdays, I always wish them happy birthday because it's the
respectful thing and great thing to do.
You always want to choose friends that keep your head up.
Choose friends that cheer you on.
Choose friends that set a good example of support for each and one of you out there.
in a circle.
For me, it's an army.
My length, my length of friends is all an army like a unity,
like a whole, whole squad.
Every one of them is still friends to this day.
And I cherish all the memories the most of what I remember about
going to high school and everything with them.
And I'm so thankful and blessed to be their friends.
Every single one of my friends out there,
I'm so glad to be your friend.
And I'm so appreciative and grateful that you're my friend as well.
Every single one of you, more thousand,
could be up to a million by now.
I got lots of friends out there.
And I'm appreciative and glad and grateful to be your friend to the end.
Because in Let's Live it, Ruth Warren 11 through 2, 3.
Choose friends wisely.
Make a friendship list.
Write down the names of two or three close friends.
Now write some things that a good friend does or,
does not do.
Here are some ideas.
A good friend makes allowances for
your bad days.
A good friend isn't critical.
A good friend helps you
and won't leave you when
you're in trouble.
Read Ruth 111 through
2.3.
Ruth was a good friend to Naomi.
When they both
lost someone they loved,
Ruth stayed with Naomi.
She made her home with
Naomi and kept her company.
Keep looking at your friendship list.
What it help you to choose your friends wisely and treat them well?
Read Ruth 113 through 2.3.
Naomi and Ruth won.
In the days when the judges ruled,
there was a famine in the land and a man from Bethlehem and Judah.
and Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Malab.
The man's name was Elamish. His wife's name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Malan and Killian.
They were Ephraetites from Bethlehem.
Judah and they went to Malab and lived there.
Now, Amalim,
Elamilash, Naomi's husband died
and she was left with her two sons.
They married Malabite woman,
one named Orfa and the other Ruth.
After they had lived there about 10 years,
Both Malan and Kiliang also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.
When she heard Mawab that the Lord had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them,
Naomi and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there.
With her two daughters-in-law,
She left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land, a Judah.
Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, go back each of you to your mother's home.
May the Lord show kindness to you as you have shown to your dead and to me.
May the Lord grant that each of you will find rest in the home of another husband.
Then she kissed him and they wept aloud and said to her,
We will go back with you to your people.
But Naomi returned home.
But Naomi said, return home.
My daughters, why would you come with me?
Am I going to have any more sons?
who come could become your husbands return home my daughters i am too old to have another husband
even if i thought there was still hope for me even if i had a husband tonight and then
gave birth to sons would you wait until they grew up would remain unmarried for them
no my daughters it is more bitter than me
then for you, because the Lord's hand has gone out against me.
At this they wept again.
Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.
Look, said Naomi, your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods, go back with her.
but Ruth replied
Don't urge me
To leave you or to turn back from you
Where you go I will go
And where you stay I will stay
Your people will be my people
And your God my God
Where you die I will die
And there I will be buried
May the Lord deal with me
Be ever so severely
If anything but death
Separates you and me
when Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem.
When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them.
And the woman exclaimed, can this be Naomi?
Don't call me Naomi, she told them.
Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life.
very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi?
The Lord has afflicted me and the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me. So Naomi returned from
Malab accompanied by Ruth the Mollabites. Her daughter-in-law, Arriving in Bethlehem, has the barley,
Harvest was beginning.
Ruth meets Belaz, too.
Now Naomi had a relative on her husband's side,
from the clan to Elam El Malesh,
a man up standing, whose name was Belaz.
And Ruth the mollabite said to Naomi,
let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain,
behind anyone whose eyes I find favor.
Naomi said to her, go ahead, my daughter, so she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters.
As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Belize, who was from the clan of M-L-L-L-L-S.
Just then, Belize arrived from Bethlehem and created the harvesters.
the Lord be with you.
The Lord bless you, they call back.
Belaz asked the four men of his harvesters.
Whose young woman is that?
The four men replied,
She is the Molobites who came back from Malab with Naomi.
She said,
Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.
She went into the field and has worked,
sadly from morning till now, except for a short rest in the shelter.
So Belaz said to Ruth, my daughter, listen to me.
Don't go and glean in another field and don't go away from here.
Stay here with my servant girls.
Watch the field where the men are harvesting and fall along after the girls.
I've told the men not to touch you, and whenever you are thirsty, go and get a drink from the water, jars the men have filled.
At this, she bowed.
down with her face to the ground.
She exclaimed, why have I found
such favor in your eyes that you
have known, that you
noticed me, a foreigner.
Belaz replied,
I have been told about, all about
what you have done for your mother-in-law
since the death of your husband.
How you left
your father and mother in your homeland
and came to live
with the people, what the people
you did not know before.
May the Lord repay you for what you have
done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel under whose wings you have come to
take refuge. May I continue to find favor in your eyes, my lord? She said, you have given me comfort
and have spoken kindly to her servant, though I do not have the standing of one of her servant
girls. At mealtime, Belize said to her, come over here, have some bread and dip in the wine
vinegar. When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate and all
she wanted and had some leftovers. As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men.
Even if she gathers among the sheaves, don't embarrass her. Rather pull out some stocks from her
from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up and don't rebuke her. So Ruth gleaned in the
field until evening. Then she threshed the barley she had gathered and it amounted to about an epaith.
She carried it back to town and her mother-in-law saw how much she had gathered.
Ruth also brought out and gave her what she had left over after she had eaten enough.
Her mother-in-law asked her, where did you glean today? Where did you work?
Bless be the man who took notice of you.
Then Ruth told her mother-in-law about the one at whose place she had been working.
The name of the man I worked with today's belaz.
She said, the Lord blessed him.
Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, he has not stopped, showing his kindness to the living and dead.
She added, that man is our close relative.
He is one of her kids' men, redeemers.
Then Ruth, the mollabite said, he even said to me,
stay with the workers until they've finished harbbing with all my grain.
Naomi said to Ruth for her daughter-in-law,
it would be good for you, my daughter, to go with his girls,
because in someone else's field, he might be harmed.
So Root stayed close to serving girls of Boaz to glean until the barley and wheat harvest were finished,
and she lived with her mother-in-law.
