So Abram left as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abraham was 75 years old when he sat out from Huron. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew, Lott. All the possessions they had accumulated,
Starting point is 00:01:40 and the people they had acquired in Huron, and they set out for the land again, and they arrived there. Abraham traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Morah, at Chichim. At that time, the Canaanites were in the land. The Lord appeared to Abraham, and said,
Starting point is 00:02:14 To your offspring, I will give this offering this land. So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to. From there, he went on toward the hills east of Bethel
Starting point is 00:02:31 and pitched his tent. With Bethel on the west and I on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. Then Abram set out and continued toward the Najib, Abraham and Egypt. Now there was a famine in the land and Abram went down to Egypt to to live there for a while because the famine was severe.
Starting point is 00:03:15 As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife, Sarai, I know what a beautiful woman you are. When the Egyptians see you, they will say, this is his wife. Then they will kill me, but will let you live. Say you are my sister, so that I will be treated will for your sake. and my life will be spared because of you.
Starting point is 00:03:42 When Abraham came to Egypt, the Egyptian saw that she was a very beautiful woman. And when Pharaoh's officials saw her, they praised her to the Pharaoh, and she was taken to his place. He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female, don't men, servants, and maid servants, and camels. But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram's wife, Sarai. So Pharaoh summoned Abram, what have you done to me? He said, why don't you tell me she was your wife? Why did you say, she is my sister?
Starting point is 00:04:38 so that I took her to be my wife. Now then, here's your wife, take her and go. Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his wife and to his men, and they sent him on his way with his wife and everything he had. Abram and lots separate. 13. So Abraham went up from Egypt to the Najiv with his wife, and everything.
Starting point is 00:05:13 he had in a lot with him. Abram had become a very wealthy in livestock and silver and gold. From the Najeev, he went from place to place until he became to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and I, where his tent had been earlier, and where he had first built an altar. there were there Abram called on the name of the Lord now a lot who was moving about with Abram also had flocks and herds and tents but the land could not support them while they stayed together for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together and quarrelling arose between Abrams' herds in the herds, men of lot. And that says Abraham, who Abraham will turn to Abraham eventually. Abraham obeyed God and left his relatives in country because God told him to go to a new land far away. God promised to give Abraham many children.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Abraham believed God's promises and God gave him. and his wife a son when they were old. His son later had his own children, and in this way Abraham became the father of men and Sarah, who Sarai will eventually become Sarah. Sarah was Abraham's wife. She was sad because she did not have any children. God promised Sarah a son,
Starting point is 00:07:16 but she laughed because she was already old. God kept his promise in Sarah's son, Isaac was born. Now, this says how to stop family quarrels. Genesis 13, 1 through 18. The herdsmen of Abram and Lott quarreled about using the land and were to graze and water their flocks. There just wasn't enough room for. both groups to live and raise their animals.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Abram decided to stop the quarrel. Read Genesis 131 through 18 to find out how he did. Most brothers and sisters quarrel at times. Here is the suggestion to help stop the quarreling from the story of Abram. Make up rules such as give the other person first choice. be satisfied with what is left. No name calling and no hitting. Make a badge with Abrams name on it.
Starting point is 00:08:32 When you have a family quarrel, choose a person to wear the Abram badge. What Abram use the rules you have made to decide how to stop the quail. You could even take turns, being Abram, then each of you will learn how to please God just as Abram did. The Canaanites and Berzites were also living in the land at the time. So Abram, to lot, let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers is not the whole land before you.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Let's park company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right. If you go to the right, I'll go to the left. Lot looked up and saw that the whole plane of the Jordan was well watered. Like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, toward Zohar. This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. So Lot chose for himself the whole plane of the Jordan and sat out toward the east. But two men parted company, Abram lived in the land again,
Starting point is 00:10:09 while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord. The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had parted. from him. Let up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring look like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone, anyone could count the dust,
Starting point is 00:10:56 then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am given to you. So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of manor at Hebron, where he built an altar to the Lord. So this is where we're going to stop. We're going to pick up with Abram rescues a lot. So thanks for turning to another Bowery. Remember to look at yourself back,
Starting point is 00:11:41 got yourself in the mirror because you are a work in progress to the beautiful and handsome people out there. And you'll get to where you want to in life. Let's return into another Bowery. God bless. Amen. And have a positive day.
