The Lord appeared to Abraham. near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.

Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. let a little water be brought and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree let me give you something to eat so you can be refreshed and then go on your way now that you have come to your servant very well they answered do as you say so abraham hurried to the tent to sarah quick he said get the three seas of fine flour and knead it and baked some bread. Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant. He hurried, who hurried to prepare it. He then brought some curds and milk in the calf that had been prepared and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near

them under a tree. Where's your wife Sarah? They asked him. There in the tent, he said. Then the Lord said, I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah, your wife will have a son. Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childberry. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought. After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure? Then the Lord said to Abraham, why did Sarah laugh and say, will I really have a child now that I am old? Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the point in time next year and Sarah will have a son. Sarah was afraid so she lied and said,

I did not laugh, but he said, yes, you did laugh. Abraham pleads for Sodom. When the men got up to leave, they looked down towards Sodom and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way. Then the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham? What a, I am about to do. Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him so that he will direct his children in his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just,

so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him. the Lord said, the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great, and their sin is so grievous, that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know. The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham approached him and said, Well, you sweep away the righteous with the wicked. What if there are 50 righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare this place for the sake of the 50 righteous people in it?

Far be it from you to do such a thing. To kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you, will not be the judge of all the earth do right. The Lord said, If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I was spared the whole place for their sake. And Abraham spoke up again, Now that I've been so bold has to speak to the Lord,

though I am nothing but dust and ashes. What if the number of the righteous is five less than four fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people? I find it 45 there. He said, I will not destroy it. Once again, he spelled to him. What if only 40 are found there? He said, for the sake of 40, I will not do it.

Then he said, may the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only 30 can be found there? He said, I will not do it. I find 30 there. Abraham said, Now that I have been so bold has to speak to the Lord, what if only 20 can be found there? He said, for the sake of 20, I will not destroy them.

Then he said, may the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only 10 could be found there? He answered, for the sake of 10, I will not destroy it. When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left and Abraham returned home. Sodom and Gomorah destroyed. 19. The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and a lot was sitting in the gateway of the city.

When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. My lords, he said. Please turn aside to your service. house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning. No, they answered. We will spend the night in the square. But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and enter his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom, both young and old surrounded the house. They called to Lott. Where are the men who came to you tonight?

Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, no, my friends, don't do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them, but don't do anything to these men for. They have come under the protection of my roof. Get out of our way, they replied. Then they said, this fellow came here, has a alien, and now he wants to play the judge.

We'll treat you worse than them. They kept bringing pressure on the lot and moved, forward to break down the door, but the men inside reached out in the pole, pulled back into the house and shut the door. They struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they connect on the door. All right, guys, we're going to wrap up here. You're going to start back up with the two men and said to a lot. For now, I'm going to tell you about praying for others. Read Genesis 18, 16 through 33 in your Bible. This is an important story about praying for others. Now try to answer the following three questions. If you need help, discuss the

questions with a friend or one of your parents. How do I know that God cares about the people I pray for? Who else should I pray for besides the people I know and like? How does this? story show that God will answer my prayers for other people. Make a list of people to pray for and things to ask God to do for them. And then use the list when you pray each day. So that's where we're going to wrap up. And I'm going to pick back up with the two men and said to a lot. Thanks for tuning to another interesting Bowery.
