Judah and Tamar, 38. At that time, Judah left his brothers and went down to stay with a,

Judah then said to his daughter-in-law, Tamar, Liv has a widow in your father's house until my son Shula grows up, for he thought he may die too, just like his brothers. So tomorrow went to live in her father's house.
Starting point is 00:02:18 After a long time Judah's wife, the daughter of Shula died. When Judah had recovered from his grief, he went up to Timna. to the men who were shearing his sheep and his friend, Heratha Adolamite went with him. When Tamar was told, your father-in-law is on his way to Timna to share his sheep, she took off her widow's clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, then sat down at the entrance to a name. which is on the road to Timna.

Starting point is 00:04:12 Meanwhile, Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Uda udolamite in order to get his pledge back from the woman, but he did not find her. He asked the men who lived there.

Starting point is 00:05:11 Your daughter-in-law, Tamar, is guilty of prostitution, and as a result, she is now pregnant. Judah said, bring her out and have her burned to death. As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. I am pregnant by the man who owns these, she said, and she added, See, if you recognize who seal and cord and staff these are, Judah recognized them and said, She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn't give her to my son Sheila, and she did not sleep with her again.
Starting point is 00:05:53 When the time came for her to give birth, there were twins, boys in their womb. As she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand. So the midwife took a scarlet thread and tied it on his wrist and said, this one came out first. But when he drew his hand, drew back his hand, his brother came on and she said, so this is how you have broken out. And he was named Perez. Then his brother who had the scarlet thread on his wrist, he was, came on, he was given the name Zera Zara
Starting point is 00:06:33 Joseph and Potty Bar's wife 39 Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt Potipar An Egyptian who was one of
Starting point is 00:06:52 Pharaoh's officials The captain of the guard bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there. The Lord was with Joseph and his prosper, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him
Starting point is 00:07:10 and that the Lord gave him success and everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Paiapar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph.
Starting point is 00:07:40 The blessing of the Lord was on everything. Pottipar had both in the house and in the field. So he left in Joseph's care, everything he had. With Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything. except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well built and handsome, and after a while, his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, come to bed with me.
Starting point is 00:08:10 But he refused. With me in charge, he told her. My master does not concern himself with anything in the house. Everything he owns, he is entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has with the other. nothing from me except you because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God? And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with
Starting point is 00:08:46 her or even be with her. One day he went into the house and to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants were inside, was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, Come to bed with me, but he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house, she called her household servants.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Look, she said to them. This Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us. He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed. When he heard me scream for him for help, He left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house. She kept his cloak beside her until his master came home. Then she told him this story.
Starting point is 00:09:42 That Hebrew slave brought us came to me to make sport of me. But as soon as I screamed for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house. When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, This is how your slave treated me. He burned with anger. Joseph's master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him.
Starting point is 00:10:15 He showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. So that's where we're going to stop and we're going to pick back up at the cup bearer and the baker number 40. Let's live it.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Genesis 39, 1 through 23. when life isn't fair. Draw a cartoon strip story telling about a time when life was unfair to you. Have two of the pictures show what you did after you were treated unfairly. Life wasn't fair to Joseph either. His brother sold him to be a slave and then things only got worse. Read Genesis 39-1-23. What happened to Joseph?
Starting point is 00:11:27 What did Joseph do when life wasn't fair to him? Sulk and stop trying or keep on working hard? Look back at your cartoon strip story. Did you act like Joseph when you were treated unfairly? If not, redraw the last two pictures to show what Joseph would have done. Our dream messages from God, 40. Most dreams are not messages from God, but God has spoken to people in dreams. God gave dreams to the cup bearer, the baker, and the Pharaoh in Genesis 40 to 41.
Starting point is 00:12:13 And Joseph could explain what the dreams meant. When Joseph's interpretation turned out to be right, the Egyptians knew that God had given Joseph. of great wisdom. So, this is we're going to wrap up. Like about 40. The cup bearer and the baker.
