Welcome to episode 69 of positive successor.
Continuing on with the Bible, let's get into it.
Bricks without straw.
Five.
Afterward, Moses and Aaron went to,
to Pharaoh and said,
This is what the Lord, the God of Israel
says. Why my people go
so that they may hold a festival
to me in the desert?
Pharaoh said,
Who is the Lord?
That I should obey him and let
Israel go. I will not
know the Lord and I will not let
Israel go.
Then they said, the God
of the Hebrews has met with
us. Now let us take
a three-day journey into the desert
to offer sacrifices to the Lord our guide, or he may strike us with plagues or with the sword.
But the king of Egypt said, Moses and Aaron, why are you taking the people away from their labor?
Get back to your work.
Then Pharaoh said, look, the people of the land are now numerous, and you are stopping them from working.
That same day, Pharaoh gave us disorder.
The slave drivers and four men in charge of the people
You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks
Let them go and gather their own straw
But require them to make the same number of bricks as before
Don't reduce the quota
They are lazy
That is why they are
Crying out
Let us go and sacrifice to our God
make the work harder for the men so that they keep working and pay no attention to the lives.
Life in Bible times. Making bricks. People made bricks by mixing mud with straw and pressing into molds,
then putting them in the sun to dry. An acid in the straw made the bricks stronger.
One person could make only about 65 bricks each day.
There are ruins in Egypt that all in one structure have made bricks made with straw, bricks made with stubble or rough grasses, and bricks made of pure clay.
Then the slave drivers and the foreman went out and said to the people, this is what Thoreau says.
I will not give you any more straw. Go and get your own straw wherever you can find.
it, but your work will not be reduced at all.
So the people scattered all over Egypt to gather stubble to use for straw.
The slave drivers kept pressing them, saying,
complete the work required of you for each day,
just as when you had straw,
the Israelite foreman appointed by Pharaoh's slave drivers were beaten and were asked.
Why didn't you meet your quote?
to bricks yesterday or today as before.
Then the Israelite foreman went and appealed to Pharaoh.
Why have you treated your servants this way?
Your servants are given no straw.
Yet we are told, make bricks.
Your servants are being beaten, but the fault is with your own people.
Pharaoh said, lazy, that's what you are.
Lazy.
That is why he keeps.
saying, let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.
Now get to work.
You will not be given any straw,
yet you must produce your full quota of bricks.
The Israelite foreman realized they were in trouble when they were told.
You are not to reduce the number of bricks required of you for each day.
When they left Pharaoh, they found Moses in the wit,
and Aaron waiting to meet them.
And they said, may the Lord look upon you and judge you.
You have made us a stench to Pharaoh and his officials, and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.
God promises deliverance.
Moses returned to the Lord and said,
Oh, Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people?
Is this why you have sent me?
Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name,
He has brought trouble upon this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.
Six.
Then the Lord said to Moses,
Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh.
Because of my might hand, he will let them go.
Because of my might have, he will drive them out of his country.
God also said to Moses, I am the Lord.
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty.
But by my name, the Lord, I did not make myself known to them.
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of canon, where they lived as aliens.
Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
Therefore, say to the Israelites, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
Let's live it. Exodus 5.1 through 21. When things go wrong. Read Exodus 5 1 through 21, then answer these questions.
When Moses did what God said, did something good happen right away?
Whom did the Israelites blame when they were told to work harder?
How did Moses feel when he obeyed God and the troubles of the Israelites slaves were made worse?
Sometimes things get worse before they get better.
In the end, Moses led the Israelites to freedom.
Remember, some things that have happened to you, draw an up and downline to show ups, happy times, and downs, unhappy times.
in your life. If you keep on doing what God says, as Moses did, where do you think your line will go in the end?
I will free you from being slaves to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with my
acts of judgment, I'll take you as my own people. I will be your God. Then you will know that I am
the Lord of your God, the Lord your God.
who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians,
I will bring you to the land.
I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham,
to Isaac and to Jacob.
I'll give it to you as a possession.
I am the Lord.
Moses reported this to Israelites, but they did not listen to him
because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
Moses said to the Lord,
yet the Israelites will not listen to me.
Why would Pharaoh listen to me?
Since I speak with fluttering lips.
