Provoked with Darryl Cooper and Scott Horton - EP:58 - Netanyahu Jerks Trump's Chain

Episode Date: August 14, 2026

Darryl Cooper & Scott Horton discuss reports about Israeli influence on Trump and question the reliability of the intelligence while focusing on the political significance of the timing. They also exa...mine what these episodes suggest about Trump’s relationship with his advisers and the broader public image they create. They then turn to the issue of strain on U.S. military personnel, including reports of poor morale and suicides aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, and they connect that to the pressures of prolonged deployments and war. They also discuss changing American support for Israel, inflation and debt, and the effects of economic instability on saving and social trust. Later, they touch on media, corruption, pardons, and influence peddling in the current political climate. They close with audience questions, including a short discussion about faith and returning to religion. Starting point is 00:00:00 When West Jet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different. People thought denim on denim was peak fashion, inline skates were everywhere, and two out of three women rocked, the Rachel. While those things stayed in the 90s, one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get when WestJet welcomes you on board. Here's to WestJetting since 96. Travel back in time with us and actually travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years. All humans break.
Starting point is 00:00:31 The difference between humans and gods is that gods can break humans. Now, end this war. You're watching Provoked with Daryl Cooper and Scott Horton, debunking the propaganda lies of the past, present, and future. This is provoked. Oh, my goodness, how time flies. It's Thursday night. Again, me and Daryl Cooper are here for you to entertain you and telling you about horrible things. Hey, Daryl, how are you doing?
Starting point is 00:01:10 Doing all right, brother. I've been building a miniature chicken coop all day because one of my chickens was getting its ass kicked by the other chickens and so we had to separate them for a bit. Man, that's too bad to hear. But nice to... Chickens, have you spent much time around chickens? Not too much, but they are...
Starting point is 00:01:28 A lot of hypnotized one. Nice. They are... Well, first, they're the stupidest creature that exists. But two, dude, they are absolutely ruthless with each other. Like, any sign of weakness. anything at all and they are on you. Like there's just no kind of mammalian, you know, sort of group.
Starting point is 00:01:47 It's just, it's over. They're brutal to watch. Hands at a pecking party. That's what Murphy says and one flew over the cuckoo's nest, right? Yep. Yeah. So, well, man, there's so much terrible stuff going on for us to talk about tonight. I'm not sure exactly which we're to go in.
Starting point is 00:02:08 But I think maybe let's just start with our, With our thumbnail for tonight's show, quite entertaining. The Israeli prime minister jerkin Donald Trump's chain. Now, I don't know, the CIA tells the Washington Post all kinds of things, Daryl. Sometimes it's true, but a lot of times it ain't. And so I don't know if you had a chance to dive into this thing, but I wonder what exactly you think of it. Yeah, well, this is a theme that I seem to come back to a lot when things like this happen,
Starting point is 00:02:40 is whether or not what they're telling the Washington Post is true in any given instance, really the interesting thing is that they're telling it to them and what is what is really going on, like why is this happening? And this one is really interesting because if you, you know, I had to check this. It stuck in my memory that this was right because it was my, my grandfather's birthday that same day, but July 8th was the day that Trump got smuggled out of Turkey and put on that secret plane and sent to the UK on this Israeli tip that they're talking about right here. That same day is when he announced that the ceasefire was
Starting point is 00:03:14 over, the MOU was torn up, and he started attacking Iran again. That was the day that he comes out. He's like, I'm not talking to them. They're scum. They're a bunch of evil, just lying scum. That was later that same day that this supposedly happened. So congratulations
Starting point is 00:03:30 Masa, Netanyahu. Mission accomplished again. But again, this shows you that there's some people with access who are inside the system who see what's going on and they don't like it, at least. If the CIA did assess that at low confidence, I mean, it's just another example, just like when we got into this war to begin with, when Netanyahu gave Trump that presentation in the situation room, and Vance, Rubio, you know, Susie Wiles all told him that this doesn't really sound like a good idea and he just
Starting point is 00:04:02 did it anyway. It's just another example of that. If the CIA said, boss, we have low confidence in this, we can't substantiate it and he took it seriously anyway not just to take precautions to get himself out of Turkey secretly or whatever but then to restart the war it just really kind of shows you
Starting point is 00:04:20 where the shots are being called you know and it doesn't matter what anybody else in the system tells him like his marching orders are coming from Tel Aviv yeah I mean the fact that they briefed Rubio on the thing and he went and then got on the plane
Starting point is 00:04:35 and flew away and did not get shot out of the sky, thank you very much. I mean, just goes to show what a hoax it is. I mean, I guess we don't really know that this came from the Israelis, but it sure sounds plausible. And as you say, obviously they have the means and the motive and the opportunity, but especially the motive, to do this to jerk his chain.
Starting point is 00:04:58 But then, see, on the other side of that is just Trump and his politics, which are completely centered around himself, has nothing to do with the United States of America. but Darrell, I mean, he looks weak. He looks weak. A shorter man is telling him what to do, right? Like, I mean, sorry to be so crass, but isn't that contrary to the way that he would prefer things are perceived out here in the world?
Starting point is 00:05:27 Yeah, and you know that because he does definitely take it personally when, you know, he hears that. He comes out every once in a while with one of those rants about they're not, calling the shots. We're the only ones calling the shots. Nobody tells us what to do. And he'll have those rants one of these days. But like the emotion that he comes at it with really kind of shows his insecurity with regard to the issue. And he doesn't doubt them when they tell him this stuff. He goes, okay, guys, if you say so, one more, tell me another one. Yeah, that's what's crazy. As if you would think that there be some. Well, this was July. But I mean, still, that's months into this thing after they already steer.
Starting point is 00:06:07 him wrong and he knows it, you know? Yeah. And it just, you know, it really makes you kind of question what else is going on. I mean, because it's very clear that he just does not care what anybody else tells him. I mean, one call from Netanyahu, and it's just, it overrides every other piece of advice he's getting from everybody around him. And so, yeah, it's troubling. But, you know, you would think that there would be some, you know, that the well, that the well, of credibility that the Israelis can draw on, even with him, has to have some bottom, right? But you would seem like,
Starting point is 00:06:43 okay, I've cried wolf 14 times and Scott has shown up all 14 times. I would be less confident that he's going to show up the 15th time. Even though he's already shown up 14, you know, on one hand, it's like, well, we've manipulated him all these times before. I'm kind of confident, but on the
Starting point is 00:06:59 other hand, like, it's a certain point. But we're not there yet, obviously. And, I mean, I don't think we really show any signs of getting there. And look, and forgive us both audience for not stipulating this part for everybody who's not completely clued in on the recent news here. They smuggled them out of there in a food truck in order to get him onto this military plane and fly him on to England here as the decoy. And so, I mean, I got to tell you, Daryl, to me, there ain't nothing humiliating about a food truck.
Starting point is 00:07:31 But for Donald Trump to have to climb down off of Air Force One, in a food truck and like maybe an air condition one full of food and blue collar stink or whatever and then he's which whatever he's not that upper class of a guy you know what i mean he's been around working men plenty but for him to do that and have to go and sneak away like that that is a severe public relations black eye for him the kind that he would severely resist in any other case you know and you got to wonder what's the chain of custody of these rumors i mean did they not ask, the Secret Service, just heard it from the Israelis, and they just went with it. They didn't call the CIA or the FBI or the NSA to get some double check on this. Does anybody know? If there's
Starting point is 00:08:18 a guy with a man pad, let's go ahead and shoot him in the face with a sniper rifle from far away so that he doesn't use it. Or if there's not a guy with a man pad, then where's this intelligence coming from? And what are we talking about here? And it doesn't seem like we have that here. You know what I mean? Like, they just went with what seems so silly, you know? One of the things that Joe Kent was talking a lot about when he first left government was that the Israelis are very canny about, you know, they don't share stuff like this usually through just interagency channels where it's going to get vetted like that. They know they know to go around that. Make sure, you know, in the past like Lindsay Graham tells this person, now it's in the media and now you're sort of, you know, that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:09:01 They're really good about that. And so it's, I mean, again, like if they had just smuggled him out, that would be one thing. But the fact that he tore up the MOU and restarted the war that day, I mean, mission accomplished. Again, you know, you got to give the Israelis like the kind of credit you give an evil genius, I guess. But man, it's just ugly to watch. And, you know, you have to imagine, too, especially just looking at all the rhetoric back and forth between Israel. in Turkey over the last year or so, especially that, you know, wasn't just designed to get them to re-escalate with Iran,
Starting point is 00:09:39 but also you're in Turkey and you had to get smuggled out in a food truck. Like they can't protect you or they won't protect. Like, you know, so like that clearly, to me anyway, would have been like a target of this operation as well as his relationship with, with the Turks in Erdogan specifically. Nice little bit of collateral damage there to go along with the main target, huh? Have you seen those pictures now that are come out the last couple days of him golfing? And they've got air defense batteries and barbed wire and stuff all around him.
Starting point is 00:10:11 It's like... Because the Iranian's going to get him. Although, I have to say, we covered this. I published the book by Ken. You guys can see over my shoulder here, the Trump assassination plots by the great Ken Silva, where he debunks the earlier rumored Iranian assassination plots against Trump. One of them, very obviously, was the FBI put up job. at least like 80% of it or something.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And the other one I'm not as clear on, but it wasn't the Ayatollah sent him anyway. But we know that this worked on Trump. You know, I saw a whole thing with Dave and Dave Smith and Tom Woods, where they were talking about, like, what is the secret in the sauce that actually convinced Trump to do this? Because it just doesn't quite make sense.
Starting point is 00:10:51 And that's what it is. It's the assassination threats. But on the other hand, though, millions of people came out for the funeral of the old dead Ayatollah Communei, in Iran and in Iraq. And a great many of them very publicly swore eternal revenge. And, you know, Mearsheimer kind of got upset at me for saying, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:15 those Shiites sure do like victimhood and revenge seeking and stuff. It's part of their culture, you know? And then he was like, oh, never mind that. Just anybody would be upset if you killed their leader. You know what I mean? We could have gone to the war with the Soviet Union if it had been them that hit, JFK, for example, or something like that, you know, which he's right, but also I'm right, that for whatever reason, the Vietnamese Buddhists are like, okay, no hard feelings, just beat it,
Starting point is 00:11:42 okay? You know what I mean? But like, we can pick a fight where the Iranians were, we got a thousand-year grudge here that where we just pick this fight that we absolutely should not have done, and we've given untold, as they might call them lone wolf or possibly very organized people, the motive, if not the means and the opportunity, to attempt to get to Trump. I mean, they did kill the Ayatollah on the opening day of this war. And I'm not saying fairs, fair or whatever,
Starting point is 00:12:11 but I'm saying from their point of view, that's the way they're going to see it. And so I don't believe anything the Israelis say. But if it was the CIA saying it, I might listen to them. You know what I mean? On this, because I think that he has put himself in danger. He's put future presidents in danger
Starting point is 00:12:27 with his crazy shit that he's done. done here. Yeah, and really, I mean, just removed any kind of, excuse me, any shred of moral authority that we might have had left. I mean, just completely through that in the trash, you know, between just the surprise nature of the war, assassinating the leadership, hitting the girls' school while we were at it. And for me, especially, like, this just grates on me worse than the others, probably because I was in the Navy, is the way we did that ship we blew up, you know, off of India, off of Sri Lanka. That's just...
Starting point is 00:13:00 That story for people who forgot with it. India was holding a naval exercise of which the Iranians were participating and in which we were participating. At the, none of the ships that were going to be participating in this naval parade that they were putting on this, this operation, practice operation, were to be armed. They had no ammunition on board, period. We were part of, we were scheduled to be part of that, that operation. and so we knew that.
Starting point is 00:13:28 And so we pulled out just before the thing went through, and we didn't participate in it, like a couple days beforehand. The Iranian ship that was there participated. And on its way out, this ship we knew was unarmed, our submarine, we had a submarine out there, sunk it, blew it off, all their guys go into the water, and then, dude, this is the part that, again,
Starting point is 00:13:51 this is, I mean, centuries of naval tradition. you rescue the sailors you put in the ocean and we just drove right off and left them for the Sri Lankans to go pick up. That is, I mean, I can't believe honestly that the captain of that submarine did it and that the Navy went along with it. It's just disgraceful.
Starting point is 00:14:12 It's absolutely disgraceful. Yeah, well, especially the fact that, you know, the Indians are our friends. And as you say, that the U.S. Navy was scheduled to participate in the thing and then turning on one of the other nations participating in the same joint thing. And then so far from the battlefield. All they had to do is put on a red and blue light and tell them to pull over and they would have.
Starting point is 00:14:37 They had nowhere to go. They didn't have to kill a single man. That's an ugly, ugly man. And well, so speaking of Navy stuff, this is in the news here. I'm not exactly sure how it started, but I know it's all over the place now. We have a piece here from anti-war.com, Darrell Cooper. It says Pentagon emits to, oops, this is Yemen. and killing people. Sorry, wrong one.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Oh, hell. It was about, it's on the top of anti-war.com about the Abraham Lincoln sailors. Oh, yeah. It's shopping off. So there, once this story came out, the first thing that I saw about it was some podcaster that I don't know who it was, but he said he heard this from
Starting point is 00:15:15 his girlfriend's son or some kind of thing like that. And then the next thing I know it's coming out everywhere. And Larry Johnson, the former CIA officer, had a piece at Sonar 21 this morning, which everyone should sign up for his morning email list. He has a great article every single morning. And he had one that's letter from some military officer, a Navy officer from whatever way back,
Starting point is 00:15:36 saying, oh, there's suicides all the time anyway. And if they say that there have been five attempts or six attempts, I'm telling you it's five-fold that. There's no way that it's only five or six. And Lincoln has been at sea for 150 days. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. I'm going to say... 250 days.
Starting point is 00:15:55 150 days. More as soon as I said that. And so apparently they're all going nuts. They're out of all their supplies and they haven't had short leave in forever. And there have been at least five or six minimum, apparently, who have attempted to jump,
Starting point is 00:16:15 which I guess means either there's a net down there like a Chinese iPhone factory or their buddies grab them and wrestle them to the ground, but I know you were in the Navy, so I want to hear many of your comments about this, but before you go, I want to, before you go on with that,
Starting point is 00:16:30 I wanted to also just show real quickly, our friend James R. Webb, James Webb, he is a Marine, so a cousin of yours in that sense, and he got a message here. This is a tweet that he put out today. And by the way, he has a great podcast, too, everybody, if you like,
Starting point is 00:16:46 guys who fought in Iraq and are now great anti-war guys. Anyway, so Jim Webb says that he got this message from a mom whose son is aboard the Lincoln and she's just madder than hell and saying anybody who says this is what you signed up for you don't know what you're talking about and cut her boy some slack and all this this is the position that they're put in you know it's funny man i kind of use this as a turn of phrase without really thinking it through all that much darrell for a long time that like maybe they didn't even have to necessarily lie us into iraq it was just it was going to take a year and a half to build up the force in Kuwait
Starting point is 00:17:21 to do it and the Turks wouldn't let us go from the north. It was only going to be Kuwait. So they had to lie to us for a year and a half. They had to just fill the dead air for a year and a half while they're building up the invasion force to do the thing. So that makes sense. And in killing that dead air, they got people prepared for this is happening all right and all of that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:17:41 And including got the Navy prepared for make sure that all your ships have the rations they're going to need for fire and missiles and launch an F-18s over the next few months and whatever it is, and everybody was ready to go and do their thing. Where Trump, you know, I don't know exactly what preparations, anybody in the services made or how much warning they had that he was going to do this, but sure seems like he's got incompetent leadership over there in the office of the Secretary of Defense, and they don't really know what to do. They would have switched this ship out with a different one if they could have, and I know we got like 11 of these things, so it seems like somebody ought to be able to
Starting point is 00:18:19 relieve them. But anyway, now you say lots of things, sir, please. Yeah, I mean, I real quick about the first Iraq war, I mean, looking back, they may not have had to lie us into it, but it still shows that they had a bit more respect for us that they felt like they needed to. Right. And they just, I mean, Trump's not the first one who started this, but, you know, I think after Obama lit into Libya, he didn't even give a press conference for like two weeks or something to talk about it. So that ship, apparently is sailed. Look, a lot of the stories that you see about the things they're feeding the guys on the ships
Starting point is 00:18:57 and stuff like that, it sucks, but that happens on deployment sometimes. We used to have pizza night on Fridays on the ship I was on back when I was active duty, and our supply ship, you're supposed to keep 45 days where the supplies on board. You get supplied when you go into port, or you can get replenished underway by a supply ship, They, you know, can use helos and they attach lines and put, you know, pallets of supplies like across the line. So you can do our stuff. And if you're just one of those, like we did, our supply ship had problems and wasn't
Starting point is 00:19:31 able to meet us and we had to go off and do operations, things can get kind of ugly. And so on pizza night one Friday, we literally had unfolded hot dog buns with ketchup and American cheese. And that was our dinner. So it happens. That sucks, but it happened. I was raised on that pizza bread. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:51 And when you see stuff like this on a carrier, look, there's like upwards of 6,000 people on a carrier, depending on exactly how their mission configured. You know, there's, it's a small town, I mean, or, you know, but a substantial town. You know, like it's a big population of people. People get pregnant on ships. They try to commit suicide on ships, all that.
Starting point is 00:20:13 You don't have five or six or more people trying to commit suicide in a spurt over the course of a whatever, a couple months or month, however long, I can't remember if they said or not, but it's been over the last recent period. That is remarkable, and that really does. You know, the last time that this happened, similarly, it caused a huge uproar within the system. It wasn't a deployed ship, but when the Gerald Ford was being built, the crew had moved on to it, but there were just massive delays in the construction, the commissioning of the ship. And so the crew was just, they didn't have beds.
Starting point is 00:20:50 They were sleeping on the floors everywhere for months and months and months. And they had a spate in one year. And this goes to, this will really give you an idea. I mean, because this was a scandal at the highest levels of the DOD. They had, I think it was nine. It might have been eight, eight or nine people commit suicide in a 12-month period. And that was a massive scandal. So this is, this is not just a shitty deployment.
Starting point is 00:21:14 This is another level, you know. And I think probably they probably are having trouble getting supplied out there just because, you know, supply ships are not easy to defend if you need to defend them. And so they would have to pull quite a ways back to be confident that they could. I mean, the carrier, like, again, when you do a resupply at sea, you pull up next to the supply ship and you match your speeds and heading and you go along, you know, parallel to one another. and you put lines across. Sometimes you put fuel lines across. I guess you wouldn't do that on the carrier since they're nuclear. And your position is completely predictable for several hours, for a half a day or something like that.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And so they would have to get way, way out of range. And just with the operations, I mean, in the speed of these things, carriers are pretty fast. But that probably means taking two, three, four days off of being able to be able to, able to light off any sorties, you know, and so they just maybe haven't been willing to do that. But yeah, five or six suicides over the course of a few months, and if it's more than that, it's even worse. But if it's just that, that's a major crisis. I mean, that shows that the morale on the ship is really, really in the toilet.
Starting point is 00:22:31 And, you know, it's not surprising. And it's not just, I guarantee you, here's the thing. I've been on, like, I've been on a nine-month deployment active duty. When I was a DOD civilian, I would go out with strike groups. Sometimes I would ride with one ship their entire deployment or most of their deployment, just training their guys, making sure the whole strike group had an expert around that could come, help them fix air defense system issues that the crew wasn't equipped to be able to handle. And I would go out there for long periods of time.
Starting point is 00:23:02 I've been on lots of ships that were on eight, nine-month deployments, 10-month deployments. I've been on ships that were out to sea without being able to have any rest and recreation on land for 60, 70, 80 days, which is rare, but it happens. And people don't like it, but you don't have half a dozen people trying to commit suicide in a month or two or three or whatever either. Like, this, it's partly the length of time they're out there
Starting point is 00:23:33 and the shitty conditions they're suffering through, but it's partly, I think, probably the stress of the mission. And also, like, I don't, we have something we call general quarters or battle stations, right? Like, which is we do these drills all the time. Every Navy ship that's out deployed that's not doing active operations is just doing drills, firefighting drills, et cetera. And you do these general quarters drills where they sound an alarm and they tell everybody and you have an assigned space that you go to, you put on all your flash gear,
Starting point is 00:24:02 your fire resistance flash gear and everything and you go and you get on the radio and you man your particular battle station, right? If there's a real deal threat, I mean, they'll call you to general quarters and you might sit there without going to bed for 24 hours or longer. And with these guys doing this kind of thing where there are like legitimate threats, they may be, they may be doing that kind of thing all the time. So it may be just the stress of the operational environment, added on to the length of the deployment and the bad conditions on the ship. But then also, look, man, they have these people get, they have internet access, maybe not when they're running active operations or something, but they have it from time to time. They're part of this sort of public discourse on
Starting point is 00:24:47 what it is they're over there doing. And, you know, the way that a lot of us over here feel about it, where even people who aren't necessarily in an uproar over it are sort of like, wait, what, what are we doing? Why are we doing this? Like, what exactly is the, like, you know what I mean? And that message is getting to them. They're having those conversations among themselves. And it's the thing about the military, man, is like you, you, look at what happened to us in Vietnam. You know, it was really like once we, it wasn't that we're, oh, we're taking so many casualties. We took more casualties in World War II, World War I. It wasn't just, you know, it's really rough out of here. It's so hot and humid and the enemy's nasty or whatever.
Starting point is 00:25:30 whatever, it was, we hit this point where people were looking at each other guys next to him being like, what are we doing? Like, why did my friend just get killed or why are we out here like being stressed like over what exactly? And once you hit that tipping point, it's military morale can fall apart very quickly. And as long as you're talking about guys on ships and whatnot, you know, it manifests as people purposely clogging up toilets or, you know, trying to commit suicide in extreme cases or something. You don't notice it in terms of a lost battle the way that you would, you know, with ground troops or something. But it really does show, I think, a massive, massive morale collapse board the ship. And if it's happening on that one ship, you know, it's happening in the strike group itself.
Starting point is 00:26:19 And, you know, it's, yeah, I mean, it's just, what do you, I guarantee you. Like at the very beginning of this thing, they were seeing Trump out there saying this would be over in two, three days. We're going to knock the hell out of him. That'll be that. And blah, blah, blah. And at this point, they don't know how long they're going to be out. And so, you know, it sucks. And yeah, like the tweet that Jimmy put up from that Sailor's mom, it's true.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Like, you know, it's not that they didn't sign up for this. Like, they signed up knowing that there were going to be times where it sucked. That's part of the package. the military. But why does it suck? What is it we're out here doing? Like what is the what is the point of all this? Why am I enduring this, you know? Of course, you sign up to serve your country, but you end up serving your government. And that's a totally different thing. Now you're at the whim of all these guys. This is, you know, every young man wonders, not that I'm like really obviously got the temperament for joining the military, but I at least had to consider it when I was a teenager,
Starting point is 00:27:22 you know? But then that was the whole thing. thing Bill Clinton was the president. He was going to send me to Bosnia to enforce the new world order. I'm not going to do that. You know what I mean? There's not even an option to consider. This isn't serving my country. This is serving the butcher of Waco and his, you know, evil mass of bloody blood-soaked criminals. So forget them. And then he was replaced by somebody even much worse, in fact, and on and on like that. So that's it's even worse in this case. They don't learn that until they're older. And they're already joined up. Yeah, and it's even worse in this case because it's not even that, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:00 your government, at least when Bill Clinton sends you to Bosnia to enforce the New World Order, that's sort of a whole of government decision. You know, you could tell yourself, look, somebody's got to, somebody's got to serve in the military for the United States of America. And, you know, the government that we elect is the government that decides where we go and they can make good decisions or bad decisions. But my job is at this point, you got literally, the Secretary of State and other government officials being like, oh, yeah, we went in there because the Israelis made us. Right. How are you?
Starting point is 00:28:32 It's crazy, man. Like, it, yeah. You know, you left out about the guys on the ships, but this has to be of some consideration, is that the Iranians got hypersonics now. And all your best, Aegis radars and Gatling guns and missiles can't shoot those down. They're coming in at mock what, eight or ten? I mean, some of them come in. And at a low angle that you can't shoot down, right? Yeah, you can't shoot them down, that's for sure.
Starting point is 00:29:01 I mean, your best shot with when you've got one of those things coming in at you is just to try to run and hope that, you know, it can't, because most of these things up until very recently, being able to change course, like when you're at your terminal phase, when you're going that fast to be able to turn without tearing your air, frame apart is very difficult. But some of the bigger countries with more advanced militaries like the Russians and apparently the Iranians have learned how to do it. I'm not exactly sure how the Iranians, if they, I mean, the claim is that they do have that capability now. I don't
Starting point is 00:29:43 know where they would be getting the follow-up targeting information if they did want to change course. I doubt it's like a radar lock or something. I don't think that would make sense with a hypersonic, but still, I mean, it really does, it adds a lot more stress to it. Because I mean, dude, carriers, people don't, I was on a ship on a destroyer one time. In the destroyers, you know, just like all throughout modern naval history and today, there are like fast ships. You know, there are, there are ships that race around and can get to a place quickly and set a picket or whatever. We were out in the Indian Ocean and all of a sudden there was a big typhoon coming toward
Starting point is 00:30:16 us. And we were told, turn around, pedal to the metal. get the hell out of here. And so we tear off at our max speed of a destroyer, which I'm not going to tell you what it is because it's classified, even though it's on Wikipedia. But when you're a target of the U.S. government like I've been, you have to be careful. So, but I'll tell you this. We're going hauling ass, top speed
Starting point is 00:30:39 in a destroyer, and I'll look off the back of the ship and you see this little dot on the horizon. And it starts growing and growing. And the carrier comes and blows by us like we were standing still, dude. Yeah, those things are fast. And it's amazing to see when you see this giant thing moving that fast. It doesn't seem like it should be. And so if it, you know, like a ballistic missile, as long as we get early warning on it, which is obviously a problem in theater now too.
Starting point is 00:31:08 But as long as we get early warning on it, you know where that ballistic missile is going. You can chart its trajectory and a carrier can, you know, if it takes eight, ten minutes or whatever to get to the carrier's location, you can cover a lot of great. ground in eight, ten minutes, get out, get out of the way. Hypersonics, no sir. Like, you know, A, we're probably not going to get early warning on that. And B, honestly, like, it's even questionable. It would depend on a lot of, like, how your doctrine is set up on your air defense ships of whether they would even pick it up once it's within, like, air defense range. And so, because, you know, in order for, like, look, your, like, your radar is sending energy out to the environment all the time. That energy is bouncing off of birds, it's bouncing off of clouds,
Starting point is 00:31:55 it's bouncing off of missiles, whatever, and comes back and the computer, the signals process down to a digital code, and then the computer has to sort out, okay, what am I looking at here? Okay, this is something worth, you know, tracking. I'm going to try to pick that, et cetera. Now, you would have just nothing but white static all over your screen if it just showed everything that is coming back at you. And so you have to really have it set up in a way. way. And a lot of this is programmed into it, but some of it you can, you know, you set as doctrine on the tactical side is it needs to know like, okay, if I have a target and it all of a sudden goes from, you know, Mach 3 to Mach 10, just drop that track that because nothing does that.
Starting point is 00:32:38 You know, and if I do start allowing things that do stuff like that to show up on my screen, it's going to let in all kinds of false positives and false detections. And so sometimes, you know, you can just filter out legitimate tracks like that. Extremely, I mean, just put it this way, there's no defense against them. Like, our most advanced ship, ships, strike group, networked air defense, everything, where they're talking to each other, sharing track information, targeting information, everything. And our only recourse with those missiles as of now is to run.
Starting point is 00:33:13 That's where we're at with those. Oh, sorry, that's my fault. That time it was my fault. The other time I didn't miss the button, the other time it was Windows update screwed me up on my driver. That was sabotage. But anyway,
Starting point is 00:33:27 yes, and look, the only thing that's going to account for that then is, you know, the next generation of laser defenses or something like that. But,
Starting point is 00:33:35 yeah, I mean, not going to do it, you know? No, and we, I mean, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:38 we've been working on the directed energy stuff for a long time, and there's a reason it hasn't been rolled out yet. I mean, we just, we have, like,
Starting point is 00:33:45 physics problems that we have not been able to overcome. you know, in terms of... I saw some footage that purported to be the Israelis using some kind of late... Oh, no, no, no, they exist. Yeah, they exist, but they're very sensitive to environmental conditions.
Starting point is 00:34:00 That one was destroyed pretty quickly. Yeah, out on a ship, you have to be able to, A, generate the power you need for one of those things, but then B, you have to be able to dissipate the heat. You know, you need a heat sink that can deal with that, which is very difficult when you're in a limited space, like out on a ship. So, yeah, I mean, that that would be the answer, you know, and just, I'll just, yeah, there's a reason we're still using missiles.
Starting point is 00:34:26 We just, there's a lot of problems we just haven't solved yet. Yeah. Um, all right. Let's talk about how everybody hates Israel now, and so at least we got that going for us. Everybody I know gets the Jerusalem Post morning email, right? And you got to, man. A toxic brand. U.S. support for Israel.
Starting point is 00:34:47 quote, collapsing among Democrats and Republican expert warns. Speaking about the changing attitude toward Israel in the American political arena, Cheyenne said that being anti-Israel in the U.S. today is a hot commodity. It is worthwhile and rewarding. So, of course, they're making this like, oh, I guess you're just cynical, Mr. Cooper, cashing in on the let's stop butchering babies to little pieces angle there. It's a huge market, right? As Bill Hicks would say.
Starting point is 00:35:19 So, yes, it's a very hot commodity to have the slightest bit of morality in the face of genuine evil. But so there you go. You know, I was going to say, I think that moral objection is why they're losing or have lost the Democrats. You know, they don't like Israeli influence in the U.S. because Israeli is mean and they're making us be mean. But they really kind of committed a fatal mistake, I think, by, you know, they, like Netanyahu, and there were people and a lot of people in Israel who pointed this out at the time when he defied Obama and came over here and gave that speech before Congress, that he was doing the one thing
Starting point is 00:36:01 that every Israeli politician knew you could never do, which make, which was make Israel a partisan issue in the United States. And so he threw all his, his eggs in the Republican basket. but the thing is on the right, yeah, you can get away with killing brown babies and stuff, you know, and explain that away to people on the right a lot of the times. But they start to take it personally when they feel like their sovereignty is being violated and their president is being bossed around and treated like a bitch, you know? That's the kind of thing that loses people on the right for you. And they were just too brazen about it, man.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Like, you know, they came out of the shadows and were just too brazen about it. And I'll tell you what, like this, that you see. other articles coming out of like American Zionist rags and Israeli publications talking about like in the future years, you know, over the next decade or so how are we going to repair the image? How are we going to change this? Well, I'm telling you, like the people that Israel has lost over the last few years, they are never going to change their opinions ever. I mean, it's just because they might be, you know, inhaling their own smoke about how, yeah, that's just because you guys keep lying about us so much.
Starting point is 00:37:12 But that ain't what it is. It's the truth that got them. And it's going to be, yeah, too late. Well, it's the truth and it's the, it's the truth and it's the response to it. You know, these people who have done this, who have switched to an anti-Israel position, or who went from neutral to an anti-Israel position, they've been called names, if not directly, but then indirectly from people, you know, there are a lot of conservatives out there who used to watch Ben Shapiro or listen to Mark Levin or whatever. And now they
Starting point is 00:37:45 realize, yeah, he's not coming to my house and knocking on my door and calling me an anti-Semite, but he's talking about me because this is how I feel. I mean, they understand. And so that hardens people in their position, you know, and a lot of the people, you know, people also knew going into it is very similar to how, you know, when, when Trump was up for election in 2020. And You know, I was, or rather in 2024, I was like his people that voted for him in 2020, I mean, I don't think he's going to lose a single one of those people in 2024, just because if you voted for him in 2020, that means you sat through four years of just being vilified and demonized and propagandized and you still voted for him.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Those people are going to be locked in, right, for 2024, and they were. It's kind of similar here. Like these people who have taken a negative position on Israel, even if it's just the Gaza war, they knew that they were taking, you know, especially if they said any of these things publicly, they're taking like literal personal risk. And when you make people put skin in the game to take a position like that, they don't give it up easy. And so, I mean, when you add to that, the fact that Israel just their political system at this point, it's Gaza today and Lebanon yesterday.
Starting point is 00:39:06 you know, Iran tomorrow, it's somebody else. They're already talking about Syria's the next big war. I mean, just they're not, the way they are configured right now and where their mindsets at, this is going to keep, keep going. And it's just going to keep happening. And so it's going to, you know, it's just going to further confirm the opinion that a lot of people have, you know, formed over the last few years. Now, they've got elections coming up.
Starting point is 00:39:30 And my money's on Netanyahu just because he is such a tough political character. And he just has. so much juice. And now I don't know whether they're sick and tired of him yet or not, but nobody likes to change horses in midstream, and he makes sure that they stay in midstream all the time so that he doesn't have to get kicked off his horse here and all of that. But then, and I'm sorry if I'm being redundant about this,
Starting point is 00:39:54 I have expressed this point of view before, but I think it's interesting to talk about, is there are people who say, like, as they're, hell, I might even said this last week, I'm sorry. they're like, you know, center-left liberal Democrat types would want to go, yeah, Netanyahu is a problem. And then it's like, I see what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:40:13 You know what I mean? Like, he just want to use him as an escape hatch and crush him. Hope that he gets replaced here in a few weeks, and then everything can be fine again. And then, so there are people who are very concerned about that, that without Netanyahu as the lightning rod, they're going to be very successful in their new public relations campaign
Starting point is 00:40:31 to whitewash what they've been doing and what they're going to continue to do. only without jerky, you know, as the brand name leading the thing, right? And my thing is, that's true. Like, if the next guy is Noftali Bennett or anybody else, that will take some pressure off because people don't know them and they do know Netanyahu. And they have reason to resent Netanyahu that as far as they know,
Starting point is 00:40:55 they don't have reason to resent Naphtali Bennett, even though he's the cause of September 11th. They don't know that mostly. And so, but the point is, even though Bennett is just as bad as Netanyahu, Yahoo, maybe they differ on which things to be worse on, but they're no better in quality or worse in quality either of them. But the thing is, is he ain't one-tenth the man Netanyahu is in terms of being a bully and getting done what he needs done. He's got a network of friends and associates and agents and their employees all throughout the UK so that when he needs
Starting point is 00:41:30 something done, he picks up a phone and things happen. You know, when he, makes a threat, he follows through and it sticks. And people know there's a reason that Congress clicks their heels every time he walks by and all of this kind of stuff. So without that, Naphtali Bennett's worst ain't as bad as what Netanyahu could do. You know what I mean? Certainly in terms of influencing the U.S. government. So it might buy them a little like a pressure valve release in terms of public relations, but it would set them back very far in terms of their ability to push people around going forward. I'm virtually certain. So, yeah, and it would, you know, he's, over the years as his coalition has had to become more and
Starting point is 00:42:15 more radical in order to gain a majority, there's a lot of hardcore people over there now that are, is hardcore, a guy like Ben Gavir and his party is, you know, he's still in, in part held in check by the fact that he's part of the majority government. You know what I mean? And he has to sort of, he has to keep things together a little bit. If those people, if the really hardcore ones find themselves on the outs because the Labor Party forms a coalition that excludes them, you're going to start to cease. I mean, even though they're going to do all the same things and everything that Netanyahu would do, you know, it's, yeah, there could be serious internal problems. I mean, there's a, that's a concern in Israel. I've had Israelis tell me, like, guys
Starting point is 00:43:01 who were journalists in Israel, who are not, you know, like, like Gideon Levy types or something, you know, they're not like, they're just, but they say, like, the idea that, like, there could be civil war in Israel, sounds crazy to anybody who doesn't live there. It doesn't sound crazy to Israelis.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Like, that's something that they talk about and think about. They look what happened to Rabin. I mean, what he had on offer from a Palestinian kind of angle was like a ruse. It was not even a pseudo. state. It was some half-ass bando stand some sort of kind of thing that anyone would reject. But the Netanyahu fans were like, this guy's got to die. And then they killed them. Yeah. And that was 30 years ago. So, you know, and they've just, things have gotten much
Starting point is 00:43:51 crazy over there since then. No question about that. But I wanted to do this one thing, because this is a little bit of white pill for us, right? A little bit of hope is this is the expert consultant, pollster, surveyor, person reporting their results here in the Jerusalem Post, that is. Quote, the entire idea around the world that Israel projects strength and that the Israel lobby projects strength and that it is not worth messing with it is an idea that has collapsed in the U.S. Today people are running for the Senate on hostility toward Israel, and that is what wins, votes, and victory. So that's a little oversimplified, but that is the world that we're moving. into and that's them accepting that fact that yeah and i think part of it is it doesn't even necessarily
Starting point is 00:44:37 have so much to do with the specifics of the israel case it's that it's kind of become a proxy for are you capable as a politician of acting independently or not right if so this is the way you prove it because this is the one that you can elect somebody from outside the system some crazy real estate guy from queens or whatever and he can break all kinds of norms and do all these things, but he still clicks his heels when Benjamin Netanyahu walks by. And so it's become that proxy. And it's a good proxy for it. I mean, it's, yeah, that's exactly what Glenn Greenwald said on my show the other day, which by the way, the provoked show is brought to you by Scott Horton's substack and Derrick Cooper's substack. Here's mine, and here's
Starting point is 00:45:23 my interview of Greenwald, where he said that very same thing. It's not exactly so much about Israel is just that's the perfect symbol of whether you're bought and sold or not. It's a perfect symbol of whether you are willing to tell the truth or whether you're willing to be taking control of by whatever powerful lobby, especially a foreign one with blood all over it. So that was fun hanging out with Glenn Greenwald. I've been interviewing him for 19 years now, I guess. The first one was in 2007. I posted that one on my Twitter there. And then by the way, I also interviewed Lindsay Snell. I'm pretty sure you're familiar with her. She is the very brave journalist who documented the rise of the bin Ladenite caliphate in Syria in the Obama years.
Starting point is 00:46:02 And she has, her YouTube channel is called Things Are Not Good, I think. And she's great. And I just interviewed her all about what the hell is going on in Syria now. And then, hey, look, everybody, here is Martyr Made substack. That's him, Darrell Cooper Martyr Made. And he's a historian. He does these long-form podcasts, including right now, he's working on World War II. From the Germans point of view, oh my God, go and get some at Martyr-Made's substack. That's subscribe.martermade.com and go ahead and buy some Liberty Stickers while you're at it, liberty stickers.com. All right. Now, look, enough of that. Point being, yeah, you're right. And politics, and this is what I was talking about with Greenwald, things are getting all shaken up.
Starting point is 00:46:41 And obviously economics has a lot to do with it. The data centers and all of that is a huge controversy. And then, of course, you know, the reason that Joe Biden lost, obviously, and the reason that Trump, more than any other thing, is in so much hot water right now. Price inflation as a result of monetary inflation, and it's just completely destabilizing this society and driving people completely nuts. And like, I don't know what I did, what I clicked on,
Starting point is 00:47:13 but the YouTube algorithm now is on a steady stream of showing me stuff about Gen Z, dropping out, refusing to work, refuse to obey your rules, refusing to even try to, you know, or regretting any education that they got or warning each other not to get any and saying that they're just going to absolutely choose to do the minimum because there ain't no point in working hard because nothing pays enough to afford a thing. And young people can't get married.
Starting point is 00:47:45 They can't start families. They can't all the things. And it's all ain't the free market. It's all government intervention. and distorting everything in the market and ruining people's lives. And, you know, I was joshing around at the expense of the MMT lady today,
Starting point is 00:48:00 the modern monetary theory that says, oh, no, you can create all the money you want. It's just fine. And I was kind of just joshing around at them because there was a line graph that showed the price of groceries. And it's just, man, you don't even want to look at. It's insane. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:13 And it great, like, we have our wives do the grocery shopping. We know we got to pay the credit card bill, but still, like, we don't want to see the number what it takes just to eat. week to week. It's nuts right now. And from now on, the prices are never going back down again, right? The only question is whether your real wages are ever going to catch up with the cost of living is all. But hell, I went off on a tangent and I forgot something about, I was angry about prices, Darrell, God dang it. World, check it out. Let me jump in because you're hitting on,
Starting point is 00:48:41 you know, something people hear price inflation and it seems like something economists talk about, you know? And a lot of times, They don't talk as much about just the social, sociological impacts of inflation, how inflation just absolutely tears societies apart. It does, you know, it's like similar to like when you read about the Hall of Domeur, anytime there's like a really bad famine like in Lebanon and Syria during the First World War is, okay, yeah, a bunch of people die and babies can't, you know, babies don't survive and stuff because there's no food.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Yeah, but then the famine ends. And now you've got a society of neighbors who, stole from each other to feed their kids. All of these knock-on effects that sort of come along that now you've got to live with. And inflation is why. I mean, you read books about the Vimar inflation. Obviously, it's an extreme case. It wasn't just that people were able to buy things and now I'm poor.
Starting point is 00:49:38 I thought I was middle class and now I'm poor. It's there are just deleterious like social and community effects that really are sometimes unrecoverable. I mean, Darrell, it makes inflation such a bad thing. It's in the communist manifesto. It's Plank 6 or something with the income taxes. You need a central bank so that you can destroy the currency that way to eliminate the differences between the bourgeois and the working class by making all the bourgeois the working class. So that the bourgeois then can't be the cushion between the working class and the rich. Now everybody's poor except the rich.
Starting point is 00:50:14 So now they can all line up and do a revolution and this kind of thing. So wait. So wait. rewind, wait, how do you destroy the middle class with inflation? Yeah, and how do you get inflation? Let me see all of their savings denominated in their currency. And so how do you get inflation? I want to take you back on a trip down memory lane to 2004.
Starting point is 00:50:38 When George W. Bush, we had two wars going on, we had his big prescription medication bill that he pushed through. Everybody was sounding the alarms. There had never been a deficit. anything like what George Bush did in 2004. Harvard magazine headline, the deficit danger, Cato Institute, how Bush bankrupted America, Economic Policy Institute,
Starting point is 00:51:01 Collision Course, the Bush Budget and Social Security. Because he ran in 2004 a $412.7 billion deficit. Headline out today, July deficit. it. Just last month, $432 billion last month, bro. And last July, the interest payment on the debt, the interest payment, right, was $92 billion last July. It was $118 billion this year. It's like a 30% increase in one year, which tells you two things, not just that the debt's bigger, but the interest rates are going up. The maturity rate on the debt that's being held is going down, so they're turning over more quickly so they're more sensitive to interest rate changes. And we're projected
Starting point is 00:51:50 now for fiscal year 2026 the federal interest costs, like the amount that they have to pay in interest on our debt is $1.17 trillion. And it has officially crossed that famous, you know, or infamous threshold where it's now greater than defense spending. Maybe that's why they want to jack defense spending up to $1.5 trillion just to get it back above it. but they don't they're probably not smart enough to realize they have to borrow that money too but it's bigger than medicare bigger than social security bigger than defense spending that's the interest on their day not bigger than social security but bigger than everything else though annually it is bigger than social security are you sure well now you're making me doubt myself now
Starting point is 00:52:35 but i'm pretty sure that's what the article said but maybe not look that was the only thing it was smaller then but that could have changed that could have changed you know i say I want to, like this, here's the thing that I wonder about. Like, you remember, uh, when Bill Clinton got, you know, sat down by Alan Greenspan and told that, you know, these promises you made on these certain programs and stuff, you're just going to have to cut back on that because the debt's just too large. And so he did that in 2004, we're in an annual deficit of $412 billion. And, oh, it's just going to bankrupt us. what's going on. Now we are, I mean, running that every month, or not every month. This was a big month because of the war and stuff, but in a single month, we're running what would have been a
Starting point is 00:53:23 record deficit 20 years ago, one that was just five alarm fires in every headline and every publication. And the modern monetary thing sounds stupid to me, but there's a part of me that's like, this wasn't, like, where we are now was not supposed to be possible. Like everything was, you know, the bond vigilantes were supposed to step in. or like whatever. Like, and so where does this, I want to get Bob Murphy on here or something just to like kind of try to explain to us. Like, the only thing I can think of is that, you know, you've got so much capital sloshing around the world. You know, Norway's got a sovereign wealth fund and it's got, I don't know, three trillion dollars in it or whatever.
Starting point is 00:54:03 And the Norwegians can't go bury that in mayonnaise jars in their backyard. They got to put it somewhere. They can't put it in a bank because if you put a trillion dollars into a bank, you now own the bank. you can't put it into most companies because now you'll just own that company. You've got to put it into a vehicle that is actually capable of absorbing trillions of dollars like that. And as long as that's out there and the U.S. Treasury is, you know, the prettiest girl at the ugly party, I guess, then it can go on and on and on. Like, that's the theory. But then, when you look at this, I mean, once you hit a point where people realize that the only way you're even making your interest payments on your debt is by borrowing more money to do it.
Starting point is 00:54:47 I mean, it seems like at that point you've crossed a threshold that no amount of funny business can get you around, right? I'd love to talk to Bob about that stuff and have him explain it for us. Yeah, well, so I just did a great interview with him, but I didn't ask him that specifically. So I'd be happy to bring him on here. And, you know, I don't know if you have noticed, but he's, you know, I don't know if you have noticed, but he's, he and Adam Heyman have done like three or four shows about how wrong you are about all kinds of stuff. Oh, I know. I love Bob. That's all good. That's all good. They always do it, you know, in a spirit of friendship, but they're like, that good.
Starting point is 00:55:19 He doesn't know what he's talking about. My right wing communist. We're already run up on an hour. This one's going to go a little long because we got a ton of super chats. And there's still one other thing I want to talk about. I don't know if you have any other things. But I was just going to say, yeah, that was the thing that I was going to say about the MMT lady was I tagged her in my thing. And I says, oh, I guess we need the MMT people to create more currency to give us so we can afford these rising prices, you know? And it's just such monetary quackery, these people. And it's on their advice that Biden said, nah, we hear nowadays that you can just cut loose
Starting point is 00:55:52 and it's fine and whatever, you know, Dick Cheney deficits don't matter times a million. And it was first Trump in the CARES Act in the first term. And then Biden came in with his own COVID bill plus the infrastructure bill and all this. And they just, this wasn't even the Federal Reserve and the banks loaning out new money. This was the Congress ordering the Treasury to write trillions of dollars of checks of new government just straight into circulation. And just it was one third of all the currency ever created in just this decade. It's absolute crime against the American people.
Starting point is 00:56:25 And that's exactly what is wrong with everybody else here is what these MMT people did. And in fact, I didn't get into all this with Bob, although I did have a very good interview with Bob, just a few days ago, which people can find on the Scottward Show channels and whatever. But I did hear, I guess it was a speech that Bob did, and maybe with someone else, I was listening to it while I was mowing the law and not watching. I think maybe it was him and somebody else. And they were doing a presentation about MMT. And this is what these cooks believe.
Starting point is 00:56:55 And then they're playing a lot of clips of the MMT people giving their own speeches, explaining what it is that they believe in how this is all supposed to work. And how it's all supposed to work is, as I guess this, you know, Stephanie, what's her name, lady would say, is that, well, yes, of course the government can create all of this money in order to direct it to certain projects, this and that. But of course, don't forget, you have to also raise taxes really high and engage in huge propaganda campaigns to encourage people to buy government bonds, not because they need this revenue to fund the government you have.
Starting point is 00:57:33 understand, not in this bookkeeping trick, but to soak up all that extra money. So the government needs to create all this money and spend it on all of their friends and then they need to raise taxes on everyone to prevent inflation. I mean, this is just a crime. Like, I'm sorry, I almost said something horribly sexist there. But my point being is that this is just the worst of economic quackery. And look at what they've done to us, dude. It's just, just, And by the way, on the most basic level of inflation, and there are great many people who've written a great amount of stuff about this at the Institute and at Mises and other places,
Starting point is 00:58:12 but just on the most basic level, when you have this kind of inflation, it makes it impossible to save. And then when it's impossible to save, that means assuming you've got any disposable money whatsoever or investable money whatsoever, it means that then you've got to go and waste it on shit coins that are going to crash,
Starting point is 00:58:30 or you've got to go try invest in this, stock market, even though you're a working guy and you don't really know anything about the stock market, man, and you're going to get taken by the sophisticated there. Or you just spend it on drugs and just having fun and the bigger barbecue, the better because there's no point in saving. You can't. You have no place to put it. And it changes the whole psychology of the society, dude. That's right. It ruins everybody's way of thinking about stuff, right? It encourages high time preferences. Yeah, it forces
Starting point is 00:59:06 high time preference. You know? Like there's a reason that poor people are the ones who waste their money that they don't have on lottery tickets. It's not because they skip statistics in high school and they don't, they understand they're probably going to go
Starting point is 00:59:19 their entire lives and never win the lottery. But when that's, you know, the, like where your mind's at, where you're looking ahead and you just don't see a way out, if there's an opportunity to just fix it overnight, some get-rich-quick thing or just any kind of short-term thing, maybe there's a chance. That's where it just forces, and you see this even in like, you know, with like large
Starting point is 00:59:44 investors in a different way, obviously, they're not buying lottery tickets, but where, you know, you have something like the California pension fund, the state pension fund, trillions of dollars, that, you know, it's got to make. I think it's seven and a half, eight percent every year in order to be able to pay its pensions that it owes to all of the retired employees. If it doesn't make seven and a half, eight percent, it's got to take on debt in order to make those payments. And so they got to do it. And if you can get six and a half percent for a 10-year treasury, which is like close to the 100-year average, it gets pretty easy to make, you know, without too much risk to a pension fund. But once those get slammed down, I mean, just because you're printing money to soak up a lot of
Starting point is 01:00:29 the debt that's being issued, well, then the money's got to go into riskier things and then riskier and riskier things. And that's kind of, that's, it's what's happened over and over again. It's really, really happening now. And, you know, it's just, I feel like, you know what it feels like, the next thing I wanted to talk about, I'm going to tie this in. It was, I don't know, I'm sure you saw this, the story. This is like, they were literally, this is, dude, the Trump's administration is driving me nuts, bro. It's like, at least in the old days, corrupt, the corrupt government understood that you had to slide the briefcase of cash like under the table. They're just not even doing that anymore. Dude, they were, Trump media was on an investor
Starting point is 01:01:10 call announcing to everybody with great pride that they now have more than 10, which probably means 11 or they would have said, you know, something more than that. But still, more than 10 clients that have signed up to pay 60 to $100,000 a month, most of which are high frequency trading operations. So computer run, you know, trading operations to pay $60,000 to $100,000 a month to have early access to Trump's true social posts
Starting point is 01:01:40 so that they can invest accordingly. It's literally pay us, bribe us with money and you can insider trade based on information. That's just openly what it is. From the president's phone. Yes. It's where the tweets where the information is going to be coming.
Starting point is 01:01:57 Yes. And you know, here's a. the thing is Biden, I don't know if this has ever been done before, but the way it was written about or I recall it being written about when it happened, I don't think it had, because there was some legal question over whether he was allowed to do it. Nobody did anything about it, so I suppose it is now, but where he issued like these blanket pardons, not for people who had been convicted of any crime and I pardon you, but just anything you may have done or may not have done or anything like that, I hereby just wipe that off.
Starting point is 01:02:30 Man, Trump is going to do that for hundreds of people when he leaves office. Him, his whole family, everybody who served in this administration, who hasn't run afoul of them, every single one of those people is just going to get a blanket pardon for anything that's ever gone on. The Supreme Court has got to step in. I don't know how, like, maybe the problem is, like, having standing to bring the case in the first place. But the Supreme Court has got to step in and say, no, you can't do preempties.
Starting point is 01:02:56 blanket pardons like this. Like, that's crazy. Like, the whole point of a pardon is that you've been convicted of a crime and you're, you know, the executive is choosing to pardon. He's been selling them to all kinds of just blatantly corrupt. Blotently selling them, by the way. Like, it's well known. Everybody in Washington knows $2 million and you'll get a pardon.
Starting point is 01:03:18 And he sold hundreds of them. And really bad people, people who have, you know, really ripped off and really hurt people. Yeah, I mean, this is like, it's crazy because you know back you think about like the barisma stuff which is like you know a vice president son who's like taking some money on the slide to be like hey dad you know go easy on these guys or whatever to get a conversation going kind of just old school influence peddling and everybody was so up in arms about it including all of these die hard maga people out there who
Starting point is 01:03:51 this is like nothing we've ever seen we've never seen corruption at this scale and committed this brazen. And so the way I was going to tie into what we were talking about before is what it really feels like is like the last days of the Soviet Union where everybody's looking at the people who were in the know are looking around. They're like, yeah, this thing, this whole thing is over. Like, there's not going anywhere. And they're just stealing everything that's not nailed down and trying to get to the lifeboats
Starting point is 01:04:17 before the plebs figure out what's going on. Like, that is what it looks like to me. And I don't know. All I know is that somebody out there needs to do their patriots. duty and just map out all of the bunkers and private islands and everything that are being put aside by these people so that they can escape the chaos, the rest of us are going to get caught up in so that we can find them when it's time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:40 Once the revolution begins is what he means. Not under the current city, the rule of law. After. We'll hold tribunals and, you know, all that kind of stuff. It'll be done very officially, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course, man. The West.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Hey, look, man, let's get to these super chats. But first, real quick, I just wanted to point out that good old Dave DeCamp is writing at anti-war.com about the Pentagon admitting that they murdered a bunch of innocent civilians in their airstrikes against Yemen last year. Potentially more of that coming. And then I wanted to point out this piece by George, is it Bebe? Or Bebe? Who, yeah, his book is okay.
Starting point is 01:05:19 Here, he's talking about Russia's lockdown of the Port of Odessa as really something like a Trump card here that, you know, could be some kind of turning point, which I don't trumpet these too loudly because, you know, as we've discussed on the show, predictions about the medium-term future of the Ukraine war have proven to almost always be incorrect here, other than those who predicted that it was going to just keep dragging on. We got that right. But anyway, something important over at Quincy, linked at anti-war.com, if people want to take a look at that. And then you want to do some chats and get out here? Yeah, man. Let me. got a whole bunch of chats. Let's skip through them.
Starting point is 01:05:59 Oh, me. Sure. Let's go. Let's see. So we got JD drafts, said, get to catch the show live since I don't go back to work until tomorrow night. Score, also loving the academy, join the day it dropped. Those are like my favorite kind of super chats. Just saying how cool we are and how great everything is and that's it. You're a man, dude. JD8, 20,0001, Dr. Pepper Fund.
Starting point is 01:06:26 or maybe even a burrito. Pretty soon you might not be able to afford either of those things. And Scott's going to be out on the corner pimping himself for nickels so he can get that deep pepper. Will turn for food. Oh, by the way, next time you go out to do Tucker when he's in Maine, I never notice this before because he's going to put you up in a different hotel now. And right by the hotel, like a couple minutes away, there's a skate park.
Starting point is 01:06:56 I drove by it on the way to his studio and I was like, I got to tell Scott about this. I'll bring my board the next time I go up there. And then I will not tell Tucker about that and I will not fall before the show. I will wait until after. St. Michael 93, keep doing what you do. Love from Northern Maine. Way up, way up there. All right.
Starting point is 01:07:17 Corey Bennett, 7848. Hey, Daryl, not a criticism, but ignore everything that anybody ever says before the but. why did you end the Jones Town series the way you did? So the way the Jones Town series ended, and this was a conscious choice. I've had this question many times, but I tell the old story from the very beginning. It's like a long 30-hour series, seven episodes, eight episodes, whatever it is, and I take it all the way up to the end, and then, like, right as they're about to start the mass suicide, and then I play through a lot of the audio of the suicide going on as like the final music of the last episode is playing.
Starting point is 01:07:55 I thought about doing an episode after that where I would just sort of, you know, describe a lot of the fallout and, you know, what happened with some of the survivors and various things. But I just thought that that was a good way to end it because, gosh, I don't know. It was a long time ago that I finished that series now.
Starting point is 01:08:14 But, you know, I, like, the thing is, everybody knew, even people who didn't know much about people's temple or Jim Jones, when they started that series, everybody knew how it ended. Everybody. And so when that's what's coming, really, it's like an explanation of how you get from this, you know, this, this, it's a story of how you get from this small town preacher, you know, with a little integrated church in an Indianapolis suburb to the largest mass suicide and, you know, in history as far as we know. And so it's like,
Starting point is 01:08:49 that's what it was. It was the story of how, how we got from there, from here to there. And that's just how I, yeah, how I thought to end it. Willimar, does that say WAP? How dare you? Oh, no, wow. Okay. The Don is a rat in a maze and he chose to be in their maze.
Starting point is 01:09:08 They just know to give him cheese and he will never leave. That is pretty true. Yeah. Pretty depressing. But, you know, I mean, you've been so validated by the way. and like a lot of people. And I don't blame anybody. I voted for Trump in 2024.
Starting point is 01:09:26 You know, I don't blame any of the libertarians, Dave, anybody who went out and showed for him during the campaign because given the situation and given the history that we knew about, it made sense at the time. But your idea of just like, no, I, you know, I can maybe like part of me hopes that it goes this way, but I'm not putting my faith in any of these people to the point where I want to vote for them. You've been extremely validated by that, man. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Look, you must have seen that footage where Rudy Giuliani's all dressed up in drag and they're like paling around in some department store and they're pretending to make out and all this stuff. Like, anybody who's that close of a friend of Rudy Giuliani is just Rudy Giuliani, dude. You know? Thankfully, I have never seen that video. He would say, you know, oh, good old Ron Paul. I sure like him.
Starting point is 01:10:22 He's smart. And people who agree with me about that like me too. Or like, oh, come on. There's just, and that's my standard for who's worth supporting for office. Ron Paul, not Rudy Giuliani. One of the, you know, one of the things you hear a lot of people say, the people who were MAGA, were Trump fans, but who have soured on him or just been disappointed in this most recent administration is like, what happened?
Starting point is 01:10:48 What happened? And honestly, I don't think anything. happen. I think that the first term, as much as it was based on a bunch of BS, the Russia stuff and whatever, he had the whole system breathing down his neck, reading his text messages, reading his emails, every little, because that was their strategy against him that time, just don't let him do anything. And so, I mean, I think, I think he would have behaved the same way the first time if he had the freedom to do it, but he just didn't. And, you know, the one lesson he did learn is that when he took office again, just put absolute yes sir whatever you say sir right away sir people in charge of all of the agencies
Starting point is 01:11:28 that might be tasked with investigating him or that he would have to worry about as he does this stuff and so there's nothing but sycophants as far as the eye can see and again like you were saying about sympathy for smith and others that supported the guy like or for anybody who voted for him you know i can see that there's a lot of willful denial there too among the educated. Like they go, well, he didn't start any new wars. Yeah, but he did kill like a couple of 10,000 Afghans in a completely unnecessary air war for three years before finally making a deal to get out of there. That's murder. That's horrible. He did the same thing in Yemen. He kept Obama's war for Al-Qaeda and Saudi and UAE against the Houthis going for four years straight,
Starting point is 01:12:14 without a breath the whole time. And then, you know, of course, on the issue of Israel, the Palestinians, he recognized their seizure of Golan Heights. He moved the embassy to Jerusalem, which is a huge symbolic move, saying that the Palestinians can never have the eastern half of it because it is now the eternal undivided capital of Israel as sanctified by the American Empire. And then bribed all these countries to sign the Abraham Accords, fulfilling the Netanyahu doctrine that we win, the Palestinians lose forever, and now everything's great, which is what caused October 7th to happen.
Starting point is 01:12:49 Hamas was saying, man, we have to move now before this gets consolidated too much further. And Saudi Arabia signs up this damn Abraham thing. And that was why they did that, which led to the whole current consequence in all of this. He hired Jared Kushner, his son-in-law, to run all of that policy in his first term. So if you just want to pretend you don't remember all that shit, I guess you can, but this is not. I think where there's two, like the two defenses are a, you know, everything is relative in U.S. politics.
Starting point is 01:13:22 He helped provoke that war. You know, I think on one hand, it's everything is like everything is relative in U.S. politics. It's like who's the opponent and what can we get relative to that? But it's also that even though all those things were the case, you know,
Starting point is 01:13:39 he even all the way up to the 2024 election was still campaigning on if you want to go to war with Iran, vote for Kamala Harris. His like, his brand, was that he started no new wars, right? Even though all that stuff you're saying is true. And so that at least like there'd be a brand preservation sensitivity or something that, you know, as I get it, but, you know, nobody can, nobody should really look back and say that they're super surprised.
Starting point is 01:14:07 I mean, yeah. Hey, this is a fair question for a mutual friend of ours here. The most like elite guy that we know as far as like upper class things. he's known, Tucker Carlson has known Hunter Biden his whole life apparently, and they're the best of buddies because rich people know each other. I can tell you, I can explain this a little bit. I took Tucker, I mean, it was later that day that I did my interview that Tucker did the Hunter interview. And so we were talking a lot about it because right up to the time I left, like around lunchtime, he still didn't know what he was going to talk to him about. Like he was like, I don't know what to ask him. Like Tucker's known Hunter. for probably 30 years or so. Their wives were really good friends back in the day. Tucker hasn't talked to him though in like 10 or 11 years.
Starting point is 01:14:59 They haven't had a conversation or spoken 10 or 11 years. Not because they were angry at each other, whatever. It's just, you know, Hunter was having his problems and Tucker was, it's just, they just haven't talked. And so this was, and people can believe this or not, I'm just telling you, I'm telling you as somebody who was like in the room, right, on that day. Tucker, yes, he's political, obviously. He's a political actor. He's somebody who has influence and he's aware of it. He does have policy preferences that he uses his platform to
Starting point is 01:15:30 try to push, et cetera, et cetera. But at the end of the day, he's a talk show host. And what? My cat keeps biting me on the book. I'm going, Ron. Anyway, he's a talk. Fox show host, man. And so, and he thought, like, look, this guy is doing interviews. He's definitely like, you know, a newsworthy kind of, it's a newsworthy interview for sure. Let's get him in here and have a conversation. He and I have known each other. So, you know, because this is what I suggested to him. And he kind of did this. Kind of, kind of not. But I said, look, you know,
Starting point is 01:16:08 there's a, he can go on Candace or he can go talk to whoever he wants and they can talk about the issues of the day or whatever. What I want to hear you guys talk about, you guys have been like in the bowels of the beast, you know, watching a lot of this stuff from up close for decades. Like, talk about that. Like, give us some inside dish on what it's like. And like, and so that's what it was. He wasn't trying to rehabilitate this guy. He wasn't even sure, you know, after the whole thing was over if, if Hunter was going to go out and like talk crap about him and stuff afterwards. Like, it was just, he just thought it would be an interesting interview. And people, a lot of people are just not going to believe that. They just, they think that there's always an agenda.
Starting point is 01:16:47 You know, there's always something there that is trying to be, like, there's always a, like, a specific purpose to doing something that he's trying to put over. But sometimes that's not the case, man. Like, sometimes you just think this person, like, look, I say this people all the time. Like, because I get this a lot. Like, I went to that dinner last time I was in Austin when we met up. I went to that dinner that Peter Thiel invited me to. It was like me and 10 other people or so sitting around a table. That was in Austin?
Starting point is 01:17:17 Yeah. Oh, okay. I didn't know that. And people are like, oh, how could you go to a dinner? And, you know, Peter Thiel, Palantir, well, I'm like, dude, like, who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall in that room? Like, I would, yeah, okay, I'm going to go there and listen and, like, see what's going on. It's, it was interesting, you know what I mean, to hear these guys who are all billionaires or prominent public figures or scholars like Neil Ferguson was there. That was another reason. I got a chance to punk him in person. but to hear them like saying basically consensus at the table that we were going to be a war with China in the next 36 months.
Starting point is 01:17:52 And they were 100% certain of that. Like just that knowing that is kind of interesting. You know what I mean? Like I want to, it doesn't mean I'm endorsing, you know, I don't even know what half of those people think politically, but it was just interesting. And so, yeah, I think anybody who has a show, like you wouldn't, if you wouldn't take an interview with an interesting person just who's, you know, in the public eye. and has that public interest, you're not really doing your job. I mean, that's how I feel about it. I understand why people don't like it.
Starting point is 01:18:20 Hunter is a dirtbag, and he doesn't really deserve your sympathy. But, you know, that is what happened. People can believe it or not. All right. So we should end with this one, man. Pretty heartfelt thing for you here, Mr. Cooper. This one's yours. I guess I'll read it here.
Starting point is 01:18:37 27-year-old North Iowan fell away from the Lord in my early 20s, But feel him calling me home. Geryl, you and Tucker's E.O. guests have been so inspiring. I'm lost. E.O. It's not equal opportunity. Eastern Orthodox. I want to say executive order. Oh, Eastern Orthodox.
Starting point is 01:18:58 I'm an idiot. I don't know about this kind of thing. I'm still lost. But feel and guiding me once again, God bless. So there you go, Daryl. We got a brother in Christ there, man, coming back to you. Yep. And don't worry, everybody.
Starting point is 01:19:11 we'll get Scott Horton eventually. Yeah, we'll see. You have to get me to read that crap first. All right. Oh, God. I'm not even reading that one. That's stupid. Good night, Daryl Cooper.
Starting point is 01:19:24 Have a good one, man. Thanks, everybody. This has been Provoked with Daryl Cooper and Scott Horton. Be sure to like and subscribe to help us beat the propaganda algorithm. Go follow at Provoked underscore show on and YouTube and tune in next time for more provoked.
