Starting point is 00:00:58 The following podcast is a Dear Media production. Hi guys, it's Mari and you're listening to The Pursuit of Wellness. Okay guys, welcome to part two interview with my assistant slash manager slash executive assistant slash bestie. I was waiting for the bestie part. Oh, you were like, come on, girl. Imagine if I left that out. That's it. Rude. Anyway, this is part two of my interview with Fiona Addix, because we just have so much to say. We couldn't put it in one episode. So this is part two. Our last episode, if you haven't listened yet, was all about Hollywood, body image, food, childhood, fitness, very much a health and wellness episode, I would say. And Fi really opened up in that episode. So if you haven't
Starting point is 00:01:58 listened, I would highly recommend going back because that will give you a better understanding of who she is as a human. Now, we're going to hop into the present day because obviously, you and I work together very closely. I mean, you were really the first Mari team member. I've always had a Bloom team, right? Like for those listening, I have a supplement company with my husband, Greg, and we have a 30 person team with that company. But I have my own brand too. And I handle a lot outside of Bloom and I've never really had help other than you. So let's hop into that. Let's talk about our relationship. Can't we? How did we meet? So I slid in Mari's DMs, quite frankly. Actually saw when I started following Mari right. I think it was like right when she moved to LA.
Starting point is 00:02:46 It is crazy. The algorithm thing, how that works. Like when Mari was in New York, I don't think I ever saw her stuff. Cause I don't know. My feed was just not any New York stuff. The moment she moved to LA, she was like on my feed and I started following her. And it was during the pandemic. And so I was doing workouts at home.
Starting point is 00:03:06 I was doing a different workout. And then she like I found her PDF, like her OG PDF guides. And I bought those. I think it was like a two for 20 deal. I got the first and the second PDF. So I was using those and using Bloom. And I actually had a fitness page at the time. Fitness feed. Fitness feed. She is not. She's no longer with us. Yeah. I actually just logged back in the other day. I was like, well, I haven't posted in like over like a year and a half. Since I actually started working with you, of course. That was just my like, I think about it.
Starting point is 00:03:35 I'm like, was that just like my ploy to get more attention? Honestly, now that I think about it. It wasn't, but it worked. But listen, guys, I knew who Fee was before she even applied for the job because she posted so much content. Like she posted workouts from the Slay app, right? Or from the guides. The guides. From the guides every day tagging me and she'd use Bloom and she would post this great content.
Starting point is 00:03:57 So we would repost it a lot. Like I would repost Fitness Fi all the time. So anytime I was in a content meeting with the team, I'd be like, well, have we looked at Fitness Fi today? So I knew who you were. Anyway, continue. Yeah, they like, I remember they reached out one time. So anytime I was in a content meeting with the team, I'd be like, well, have we looked at fitness feed today? So I knew who you were. Anyway, continue. Yeah. They like, I remember they reached out one time. They're like, could we use like your post on our grid? And I was like, oh my God. Yes. It's like me in my living room. Like, also looking back at this post, I'm like, you guys, I used to like make video montages and I would like dance. I was like, shake a little bit. I would always have like a ponytail. Oh my God. Really embarrassing. Not the ponytail. Literally like half up. Like I thought I
Starting point is 00:04:31 was so cute. I really thought I was doing something. You were cute. I was doing something. I got the job. Period. But so I was following Mari and then one day I was at my office. I had like gone back part time and I got on Instagram. Also, what were you doing at this point? I was working as an administrative assistant to the private equity team at a financial firm in Santa Monica. Yes. It was a great, I think after, if you listen to the previous episode, it was a big adjust from like the previous personal assistant job I had had. And I really wanted like a nine to five where like I left work and I did not have to think about work until I got there the next day. Like I was like,
Starting point is 00:05:08 I don't want my life. I needed time for me and I needed to be able to go back to the gym. So that job was perfect for that. But it wasn't the direction I wanted to go. It wasn't fulfilling. It was very like busy work, but I was good at it and I could have a life outside of work. So I was at the office one day and I got on Instagram like on my lunch break definitely wasn't just scrolling on Instagram at work
Starting point is 00:05:29 and I go and tap Mari's story so this is when Mari had moved and she posted on her story that she was touring the office building right next door to me
Starting point is 00:05:37 and guys when I tell you I like ran around my office there were like two people in the office I was like Mari's like next door right now you probably weren't even actually next door. Actually,
Starting point is 00:05:46 you kind of post. No, I post live time. You do post live time. So like she probably was there. And I was like, oh my God, like I work in the building next door. And I kid you not, I was wearing my Bloom. Bloom like was sending masks with the orders, like Bloom tie-dyed cloth mask with a B on it. I was wearing my Bloom mask. So I sent her a selfie in the elevator and I was like, I work right next door. Like, I love your products. Like, I hope you,
Starting point is 00:06:10 they were touring an office for like the first Bloom office, I think, really. Yeah. And I was like, if you need like coffee, I do, like, I don't know. I was just,
Starting point is 00:06:18 I was literally just trying to like start a conversation with Mari. And she answered. She was like, oh, no way. Like, let me know if there's any good coffee shops or anything. And so I like I literally did not know about me being me. I was like, where's the food? Yeah, I did. I think I was like, oh, there's like Mr. Winston, which like Greg loved Mr. Winston. Miss Winston. Miss Winston's big salad. See, I like I lied. I like
Starting point is 00:06:39 was like, oh, yeah, there's all these great places. I probably went twice. I was trying to tell her things that she I don't know. I was trying to tell her things that she, I don't know. I was trying to keep the conversation going. I still remember the picture. You were in the elevator. And you had like a gray shirt on of some kind. And you had the mask on. It's like a selfie.
Starting point is 00:06:56 It's like the ugliest selfie ever. But it was so cute. And you were so friendly in the message and really helpful. But anyway, continue. Yeah. So to make a long story short, I was like, by the way, if you're ever looking for an assistant,
Starting point is 00:07:09 like, can I just shoot you my resume? Would love for you to take a look at it. Like, even if you don't do it now. And I think she responded, you were like, like, we're not really looking, but like, feel free to send it over, like, for the future, whatever.
Starting point is 00:07:21 So I sent it. And I don't really remember. I think they were like, oh, we'd love to have a phone call, maybe. I think you it. And I don't really remember. I think they were like, oh, we'd love to have a phone call maybe. I think you were impressed by my resume. I was. I was. I saw your experience and I was like,
Starting point is 00:07:32 oh, okay, she's legit. Yeah. But at the time, I don't think Mari even really knew. Like, I don't think you guys even really knew what, you've said, you were like, I don't even know what I would have you do, let alone like,
Starting point is 00:07:41 how do I tell someone what to do? I knew I needed help. But the concept of like, having someone in my house every day let alone like, how do I tell someone what to do? I knew I needed help, but the concept of like having someone in my house every day and being like, please, can you get my groceries? I was cringing at that. It's an adjustment. Yeah. I think, yeah, making that first step. I think it's hard. I think a lot of people wait too long to get assistance because there's like, oh, like I can do it myself. Like it's why not? If you have the ability to do it, why not have someone else like right and you know why not spend time on the things that help move you forward when you can have someone also I suck at domestic
Starting point is 00:08:11 stuff like I fee can tell you firsthand I cannot pack a suitcase for the life of me I'm the least organized person you've met fee helps me just be a better human and a more productive human anyway we saw your resume and you basically convinced me that I needed an assistant. I did. And so I think I started part time. I was like, let me just pick up your dry cleaning and like run your errands and like go to the post office. Mari was like, I hate the post office. I was like, I will go to the post office for you. I haven't been there in years since hiring you. I have not been. So I pretty much did all the things that like everyone
Starting point is 00:08:45 hates doing, like all those tasks every day that like are just annoying. I helped handle. So I did that for six months part time, really just like after work, like weekends, just any time I could fit it in because I still had this other full time job. And then after like six months, my other job was starting to get more like intense again and they wanted me back in the office. And I was like, oh, God, like, how am I going to keep living two lives? So I finally, I think I reached out to Mari and Greg and was just like, look, I really, really love working for you guys.
Starting point is 00:09:13 This is the path I want to go. Like I much preferred working in like health and wellness than finance. And I was like, if there's any way you think we could make this a full-time position, I would really appreciate that. And I kind of was like, otherwise, I can't really keep working for you
Starting point is 00:09:26 because I got to keep, you know. And my other job, I'd been there almost two years and they were trying to like promote me within. I kept having meetings with these new teams. They'd be like, so like, do you want a promotion? And I was like, no, because I knew I wanted to leave. But I was like, let me think about it. I'm sure they were all like, this girl's an idiot.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Like, why would she not take this new job? But I was trying to work for you. But so finally, they offered me a full- time position. And yeah, the rest is history. Was that a scary transition? Because you kind of went from a safe, secure corporate role to working for two young entrepreneurs. And like, you didn't know. I mean, back then, Bloom was not where it's at now. So and I remember your mom being nervous. Kathy was, which is so funny now, because when I tell you guys, my mom is like a bigger fan of Mari than I think she even is of me. She loves Mari so much. And Mari Gregg, just everything loves Bloom. Like, oh, my God, she is slaying in Bloom. She's a Bloom
Starting point is 00:10:22 athlete. All day, every day. That was she, everything. Every product that you could have, she has it and uses it all in one day. It's really impressive. It's pretty amazing. And the Slay app on top of that. Like, she's a private chef now and she like is constantly, she's like, I told all my clients about, like, she's, she like puts it in there and me, guys, it's.
Starting point is 00:10:40 We love her. We love her. But she was not supportive of it at first. She was like, how do you know I kind of was taking a bet on you guys by doing that but I just I knew I wasn't happy and didn't want to keep pursuing what I was doing and I really liked you guys and I really liked I'm good in the assistant type space and then I just I knew it was like a world I wanted to be in. So I was like, you know what, I'm willing to kind of figure it out with them. Then like keep I just had to take the jump,
Starting point is 00:11:11 you know, yeah, make the take, take the leap, make the jump, make the make the leap, make the leap. I don't even think that's a take a leap term. I had to take a leap. Yeah. Also, I think I don't want to be putting words in your mouth, but I think you and I had a very special relationship from the beginning. I don't think I've ever met someone that I could spend as much time with as I do with you
Starting point is 00:11:35 and not hate them by the end of the day. And we had just such a positive vibe together and very productive, but also fun. And at the end of the day, what's the point in working so hard if you're not going to have fun while you're doing it? Right. And I felt like it would be disappointing to let go of a connection like that. And I feel like just even having that spark of a connection at the beginning, we were like, oh, we can do cool
Starting point is 00:11:58 things together. No, like check the words right out of my mouth. It was I remember like leaving work multiple times and just being like, I can't believe this is my job now. Like this is so it was everything I wanted it to be and more. And I made a great friend out of it. And it was just I say it's kind of like all the different parts of all the jobs I had over the last five years, like all the best parts that I like or things I was good at mushed into one. Like whether, you know, the wellness health industry, but then like an assistant role, but like for someone that really appreciates what I do and maybe doesn't just take it for granted. For me, it was like magic. I was like, oh, this person's so good at all the things I'm bad at. Like my life's organized
Starting point is 00:12:41 now. My schedule's organized. My things are organized. Like you really filled a gap for me. But your job over time has changed a lot. Like at the beginning, it was very much laundry, dry cleaning, right? Yeah. A lot of like errands, personal stuff. I helped a ton. Like, I don't know, maybe not everyone,
Starting point is 00:12:59 but like a lot of followers probably saw like I would do Mari's closet. Like I would like organize the whole closet. She was like amazed by that. Amazed. Amazed. Like I would like organize the whole closet. She was like amazed by that. Amazed. Amazed. Like I would organize her legging drawer and she was like, how did you do that?
Starting point is 00:13:11 And I'm like, she's very talented. I have an eye for that stuff. I love like Marie Kondo or whatever. Like I have folding methods. Like I'm crazy. My house looks like it too. It's just like,
Starting point is 00:13:22 it's how I function. I cannot function like mess. I just can't get work done. It's distracting to me. So house looks like it too. It's just like, it's how I function. I cannot function like mess. I just can't get work done. It's distracting to me. So I was like, okay, like how can I help them get their work done even better? Like let's make their home a non-distractive place when they come home from work or, you know, or like we were working from your home. So I didn't want it to be a mess. What does a day in your life look like now? And I know that's difficult because our days are so different, but like, let's say today. So now that I'm on this kind of workout regimen I was talking about in the last episode, I wake up at like between like 6 and 6.15. I throw on a workout outfit.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I walk my dog Benny and then I get to Gold's. I go to the Gold's in Venice, which I actually started going to because Mari and Greg were going there. And like, I was so scared to walk in there the first time. I'm telling Mari, I was like, everyone's like, you know, maybe Mari's not a bodybuilder, but she's like obviously a fitness influencer. I thought everyone there had either.
Starting point is 00:14:20 I was scared too. Yeah. There's like famous bodybuilders in there. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger was in there yesterday. Or no, it was this yesterday morning. I saw him when I was walking out. Like. There's like famous bodybuilders in there. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger was in there yesterday. Or no, it was this yesterday morning. I saw him when I was walking out. Like he's there all the time. And it definitely was intimidating at first,
Starting point is 00:14:32 but like I love going there now and it doesn't faze me whatsoever. But so I go work out. I come home, get ready super quickly, feed Benny. And then I go to Mari's. I get there by nine, sometimes 9.01. What's your commute? I'm trying to be faster. It get there by nine, sometimes 9.01. What's your commute? I'm trying to be faster. It's literally four minutes, but I allow myself like eight minutes
Starting point is 00:14:49 to get there every day. So I get to Mari's. We've started this like block, time block system. I'm not great at it, but Mari's been trying to instill it in me. So I'm working on it. But we look at like our to-do list for the day, our calendar, so we know what we have going on that day. And then emails. Always so many emails between Mari's inbox and my inbox. There's hundreds of emails. Even if I leave the inbox good to go at 5.30 the night before, by the next morning, it is overflowing. So emails.
Starting point is 00:15:19 And then a day like today, we were recording, So we shot up to Dear Media up in West Hollywood. Mari's been doing that a lot lately. So we're up here quite a bit. Record. Team call. Oh, yes. I skipped team call today. Well, we did hop on team call today.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Yeah, like 930. We have team call with Bloom events. We've been doing a lot more events. So stay in the loop with Bloom. Yeah. And then we just kind of go every day. Like you said, every day is pretty different. Some days you're recording.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Some days, like tomorrow's a content day. So Mario would be getting content. Today you're training a new role. So Mario mentioned, but I've kind of moved from her personal assistant now to like more an executive assistant managerial type role. I help Mario more with like her general calendar and like being the liaison between like her agencies
Starting point is 00:16:04 and her PR like just Mari since I started it's actually crazy we talk about this like when I first started with her we'd like nine o'clock I'd roll and we'd sit at like the round table in your like old house we'd be like so what should we do today we'd be like let's like drive up to Beverly Hills and take pictures can you imagine us having time to just like drive up here and like. I'm happy if we have five minutes for lunch now. It's crazy. Like we really, the level that like has shifted since I first started part time with her.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Now it's like, now she has like an agency and talent representation and PR and the Bloom team's like quadrupled. And that's all great. But that is like way more emails, way more meetings. Like we have a lot of meetings. Like yesterday alone, I think we had three or four meetings. So a lot of that. But every day is different, which I love. That's part of the reason I wanted a difference from like the corporate job I had before. I was doing so many like spreadsheets and like they call it expense reports. And it was just so boring. Like it was so, it was the same thing every day and it was boring. And now like every
Starting point is 00:17:11 day is really different. Some days we're traveling, you know, like it's different every day, but it's fun. And yeah, as hard as we work, we really work our butts off. We have fun doing it. So. True. We find moments to laugh and appreciate what we're doing. Yeah. You guys know I have been on a deep dive when it comes to my inner health and the everyday products I'm using. And that includes my cookware.
Starting point is 00:17:43 I cook every single day. So I want to make sure that the cookware I'm using is non-toxic.ware. I cook every single day, so I want to make sure that the cookware I'm using is non-toxic. And that's where I found Caraway. Caraway's high quality ceramic coated kitchenware is free of PTFE, such as Teflon, lead, cadmium, and other toxic materials. A lot of average cookware is going to have toxins in it that are released when you're cooking. We don't want that in our food. We don't want that breathing in. We don't want toxins anywhere. I also love the fact that Caraway kitchenware comes in a variety of chic shades. I went with the green color and guys, it looks so cute in the kitchen. Starting point is 00:19:13 Anyone who knows me knows my dog Lulu. She's always by my side. I rescued her when she was two months old. She's half pit bull, half golden retriever, and she's my whole world. And the same way that I am super conscious of the quality of food I'm putting into my body I'm even more conscious when it comes to Lulu. I want her to be around for a while and to live a vibrant and healthy life. I never really felt good about giving her kibble and then I found out that giving a dog kibble is basically the same as a human consuming a diet of 100% processed food. No matter the species, fillers, additives, and synthetics are not optimal sources for nutrition. Dogs need unprocessed,
Starting point is 00:19:52 high-protein, low-carb diets that kibble won't deliver. Maeve is a protein-rich, raw food for dogs that's just as easy as kibble. It's supplemented for seven essential health benefits, including gut health, immune function, oral hygiene, skin and coat health, hip and joint health, mental health, anxiety, and growth and early development. Maeve supports benefits you can smell, feel, and see, from better health to reduced itching and shedding to regular bowel movements and maintaining a healthy weight. Most dog parents see results in 28 days or less. Plus there's no mess, no prep, no thawing, just open, pour and serve. It's that easy. Who else can say they get to eat all their favorite foods every single day? People love Maeve. They have over a thousand five-star reviews and so do their dogs, especially those notorious picky eaters. Make the switch to raw
Starting point is 00:20:46 today right now mave is offering 40 off your first order at meet mave.com slash pow go to meet mave.com slash pow that's spelled m-a-e-v to receive 40 off your first order that's m maev.com slash pow, P-O-W. Enjoy. We all want to feel and even look our absolute best, but the truth is most people find it challenging to make health a top priority. That's exactly why I created the Dr. Gundry podcast, because if there's one thing I want everyone to know, it's that you do have the power to take control of your health and live the life you deserve. Check out the Dr. Gundry podcast today. What is the best or most memorable moment we've had together? I feel like there's so many. So that's kind of a hard one.
Starting point is 00:21:41 I know mine. Oh, okay. I have two. Can I have two? Yeah. Okay. When I first started with Oh, okay. I have two. Can I have two? Yeah. Okay. When I first started with Mari, she was planning her wedding. So definitely just like her, I would say her wedding trip in general was like one of the best trips I've ever been on. Like we talk about it all the time. We're like, can you just like maybe have like a, what's it called when you like get married? Like a, like a re, like, oh, you know, renewal of of renewal like let's just have like one every
Starting point is 00:22:05 year because like we really it was just such a great trip and like all that planning it turned out so beautifully and we just everyone I think there had such a great time yeah so that was a really big and like Mari and I were on those wedding meetings every week and like just getting there and it all was beautiful and perfect like it really was a perfect weekend or couple days. That was definitely a highlight. And then even our trip to Austin with Yumi and Greg. And we actually were flying there because Mari was going to be on the Skinny Confidential podcast. And that was, like, before all of this, which is crazy. But we flew there all together.
Starting point is 00:22:39 And it was just, like, such a nice trip. And that was a very pivotal moment I feel like in your career that was like I think like the first podcast you ever like a major like the first major one yeah she ever did and like she was so nervous and me and Greg were so nervous I think they went in the building to like say hi to Lauren and Michael and I like waited out in the lobby and then me and Greg went and like got a drink and like hummus. We were eating hummus plates, I remember. Waiting for Mari to come out. And him and I both were like, we know it's going well.
Starting point is 00:23:10 But what if it isn't? Like we were like, do you think she's going to want to like celebrate after this? Or like hold him and cry? So we were both just like sitting there waiting. And then finally we went back and she was like, it was amazing. No, I think you were like, I blacked out the whole time. But you knew it was amazing. And yeah, it was just an awesome trip.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Then we went out and celebrated and like… Barbecue. We went out and I think we took some shots. And then we went to this Terry Black's barbecue. I tell you guys, the sides alone. The sides. The corn thing. Oh my… It was unreal.
Starting point is 00:23:41 You, me, and Greg just sat in silence, chomping on ribs for like a solid 30 minutes, just going, mm. A long time. It was so good. And then we went out. We met so many fans. There were a lot of gals out that night.
Starting point is 00:23:54 It was actually crazy. Oh my gosh, this one, you guys. We get in line at a bar, and there's like a bridal party in front of us. And we're all just like, me, Mara, and Greg are just like, standing there in line, minding our own business.
Starting point is 00:24:03 And this girl, the bride turns up. Also, they're all wearing like cat ears. I remember they were all wearing cat ears. The bride, like definitely a little intoxicated, turns around and she's like, I don't want to scream in the mic. Like, oh my God. Like, Greg, like, she's like, you're all here in front of me. Like, here.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Together. We're all like, yeah. And she was so sweet. And like, she loved Greg and Mari. And we ended up going in with her. We were like dancing in there with her. And she was like, this is like the best day ever. We were in her bridal party. Like suddenly me and Fi were bridesmaids. Yeah, it was amazing. But that trip, that trip was awesome. And I think, like I said, it was such a pivotal moment in your career. And I just think we all, I think that was like, besides the wedding, I think that was like
Starting point is 00:24:44 the first kind of trip you me and Greg took together. And it was just like really nice. Like, I know I joke, but like maybe more siblings than like mom and dad, but like, I don't know. We're like a little unit, you know? Yeah. It's like a family unit and it's, you do fit so well with me and Greg. Like it just works for some reason. And you really have been there for all of the best and worst moments for me. But as you just said, we have grown so much and you've been there every step of the way and you've grown with me, which has been so cool.
Starting point is 00:25:13 Like the things you're doing with me now are so different than the beginning. A hundred percent. Even like our recent trip to New York. It's so different. Like you're planning all the guests on the podcast and when we arrived at the meet and greet, everyone's screaming your name too. Like everything has changed so much.
Starting point is 00:25:28 And things have just gotten like way bigger. And there's way more pressure, I would say. I feel like just because when you're in it, you don't even see it. Yeah. But now just even, we haven't even talked about it. Like I just feel like just talking back to that, so much has changed.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Oh my God. Now I have a podcast. It's crazy. I feel like we've been checking goals off like every few months. But because we are moving at such a rapid pace and like things just come like, I feel like even huge goals that like in the new year, a lot of amazing things happening to people, like huge goals that Mari's had.
Starting point is 00:25:59 It's just like, okay, we're done. Like we kind of just fly by them because things are moving so quick. But like looking back, we'd be like, oh my God. Like, that's crazy. But it's hard in the moment to like appreciate when you do take those things off because it's kind of like,
Starting point is 00:26:11 what's next? Like, I've already done all this. So try to be appreciative of those times. But yeah, we're killing it. We're killing it. I don't know what else to say. But that's not to say. I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:26:23 You have witnessed a few of my mental breakdowns we've had them together because it's you know you're with me every single day and you see the best and worst parts would you say that there is a worst let me rephrase that wait I want to hear what your favorite time was first my favorite time was going to be the wedding okay because to me you were kind of my bridesmaid and even just you helping me get ready and like celebrating with you and running into the ocean. Blacked out at the end. At the end of the night, Greg or Mari, I think we're trying to have a cute like couple moment to run into the ocean together. But I had had too many drinks.
Starting point is 00:26:59 I had some Lulu Long Islands and I was running in with them. And everyone after was like, why did you do that? And I was like, what do you mean? Like, I did not even think twice. I didn't think twice about it. I did not think twice.
Starting point is 00:27:10 And like, I don't even really remember that, but supposedly there were big rocks that we hit. It was fun. We slammed into the rocks. But there was a video of all of us just like
Starting point is 00:27:17 running into the ocean. Best moment. Best moment. But that would be my favorite. Oh, great. What would you say is the worst part about working for me?
Starting point is 00:27:25 Or a negative element? Hmm. There's not really like too many negative. A challenging part. Hmm. That's a good question. I think, honestly, probably the most challenging part for me is like the pace that we are working at now.
Starting point is 00:27:44 And I think getting an assistant is going to help this a lot. But right now, like I'm juggling such a wide variety of tasks. Like even yesterday we finished. So we, me and Mari have this to-do list that we check off every day. And like, we got to the end of the list and Mari's like, we didn't do anything. I'm like, but we did. But like, we were on so many meetings yesterday. And I'm like, the things that I, I used to leave her house every day and everything would be checked off that list because I just had time. Like, I just, like, I had way,
Starting point is 00:28:10 I felt like I had so much more time. And like, yesterday we finished and she was texting me after work. She's like, I know we're like done, but like, we didn't even talk about, I'm like, I know, like the day flew by. So I think probably the hardest part is just like the range of things I'm doing right now.
Starting point is 00:28:25 But I do think hiring someone to help with a lot of that personal stuff is going to take a huge weight off that stuff. And then I can really focus on like, yeah, your projects. And it's almost like the more high level you've become, they want you in the meetings now. And I need you in my meetings now. So you're not just like running around the house doing stuff anymore. You're in the meetings and actively on the projects with me or you're here with me recording. Yeah. How do you handle working with your bestie? Like how would you say our dynamic works in terms of work and friendship? We, Mari gave me a stern talking to, no I'm kidding. Oh. No, but when we started, I think it was when we started full time, we like had like a conversation and she was just like, look, obviously we're friends. Obviously, I want to keep like a good relationship. Like, I don't want to ruin our, you were saying, you're like, I don't want to ruin our friendship by working together, but we need to set boundaries. Like nine to five, we are working. Let's not talk about, you know, personal stuff. After five, the weekends, like, we can talk all we want.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Even, like, lunch breaks, we'll, like, chat sometimes. But, like, we really try to keep the nine to five just work focused. Because, you know, at first I was like, why? But Mari's like, because it gets distracting. And, you know, when, if we start talking about even, like, something personal or emotional, it's like, how do you then get back into, like, okay, now we need to get back into this meeting. It just, it complicates things. So, we really do keep, like, a nine to five, like, how do you then get back into like, okay, now we need to get back into this meeting. It just, it complicates things. So we really do keep like a nine to five, like we are working and we check each other all the time. Like I'll start bringing someone up, Mario will
Starting point is 00:29:52 be like, see, I'm like, okay. She'll be like, after five. And I think that's the reason we've been able to keep like our friendship as it is. And also like, I know to not take anything personally. Like I know if Mari has a stressful day or something like or even her being like can you go do this for me I'm not like I can't believe you'd ask me to do that like I'm your friend like you know also just being an assistant this is a huge thing no task is like too big or too small kind of vibe and like that's just part of the role you know what I mean like I knew what I was getting myself into in a way. So and from my perspective, I appreciate that so much. Anyone listening who wants to get into a role like Fee has or grow the way Fee has, that's the attitude that really has stood out to me with
Starting point is 00:30:36 you. I feel like I don't ever feel bad asking you to do something because you don't make me feel bad. And I am the type of person who'll be like, oh, I'm worried that I offended someone or like, was that too much to ask? Fia is down for anything. She's like a ride or die. There's a few tasks that are a little crazy that I've asked her to do. And she does them with a smile. Speaking of which, what would you say is the craziest task that I've had you do? Mari definitely has like some interesting tasks for sure. One of like the weirdest ones was Mari, very healthy on the outside is trying to also
Starting point is 00:31:12 be healthy within. I don't know how else to phrase that. That was a really weird to phrase that. You went through like, I mean you're still going through it, but like a phase of very much like she wanted to make sure she was like actually well. I think being looking, having abs and like actually being healthy are two completely different things. So Mari went through like a lot of like blood work and she got all these tests done. And
Starting point is 00:31:34 one of the tests was a stool test. And so I had to like take Mari's stool and I think I like shipped it back to them. I don't even, I think I blacked out of my mind, but I think I like shipped it back to them. I don't even, I think I blacked it out of my mind, but I think I like mailed it back to them. Don't phrase it that way. She didn't collect my stool. Mari did, but then she gave it to me. But guys, the funny thing- But it was in a bag, in a box. Yes, it was wrapped up.
Starting point is 00:31:56 It's not like she just like- But still. But guys, I had to keep like, I kept being like, okay, like, did you do it yet? And she was like, no, it's like so like I don't think you kept pushing it off. It was she said it was really traumatizing. It was the most vile thing I have ever done in my life. I couldn't look at myself the same. Honestly, it was very humbling. Yeah. And then she gave it to me and I mailed it. So that was probably like a weird task. Like it was like on my to-do list, like mail stool. Yeah. Welcome to the life. Yeah. But you know, like I have a dog, you have a dog.
Starting point is 00:32:32 I'm like, I've like, yeah, same thing, right? Yeah. That was a good one though. Not your boss's stool, but it's fine. This is an interesting question. What is it like working for someone who has borderline personality disorder now you haven't really seen me at my worst I have improved a ton but I still definitely have BPD what is that like or do you even notice good question I know and I've known I I have even noticed since I started work and I'm not saying it's because I started working with you but since I've started working with you you've really dove into it even more And I've seen such like a positive progression since I even started with you. So kudos to you. Killing it. You know, I think I just, I am very like a well-tempered person,
Starting point is 00:33:16 I think. I don't know really how else to put it. Like Mari said, like I'm like a ray of sunshine, but I just, I know how to diffuse situations. And I think, you know, working with someone with BPD, your emotions I know are like heightened and someone could say something and I'm like, oh, they meant this. And Mari's like, I think they meant this. And I'm like, and I kind of, I feel like I like can talk you off the ledge a little bit
Starting point is 00:33:37 and like give you a different perspective. So, but I feel like at the end of the day, it's just like being there for someone and listening to them and like letting them know that like whatever they're thinking, it's like it's not crazy and it's not like they're just people too. Everyone, you know, goes through emotions differently. And yeah, I feel like I just try to be there for you as much as I can. I don't know everything about it.
Starting point is 00:34:02 I feel like I've definitely learned a lot about it now, which is like awesome. I feel like everyone should kind of know more, just in general, any mental health stuff, like people should be more open to and like, even essentially like letting your friends know, even if you don't think they're struggling with something, letting people know that you're always here to talk, even if they seem like they are in a great freaking place because you never know. And yeah, mental health is like a really big thing to me too. Yeah. So I just, it's something that I hold very near and dear to my heart and I just always want to be there for you. Thank you. Yeah. And I think that's why we work so well together. I don't think I could have someone who gets frazzled easily or has a negative outlook on things because I tend to lean more on the emotional, depressed, anxious
Starting point is 00:34:47 side. And Fi has a way of diffusing the situation. Like even on the car ride here, I got triggered by a text message and Fi helps me have perspective on it. And she helps me honestly move on to the next thing. And you are so positive and that has helped me so much. I remember back in the day, I mean, this is a little bit more intimate, but I was dealing with self-harm still when I hired you. And at one point you hid a certain razor from me because that's what I would use. And you, I think you figured that out and you started hiding them and I could never find them. And I was like, Fee, where are they? And eventually she was like, I didn't want you to self-harm, which truly did mean a lot to me at the time because I didn't really have anyone else looking out for me in that
Starting point is 00:35:33 way. And you knew intimate details that I, I don't know, it was, it was a big moment, I think. And I haven't self-harmed in, I think, since then, which is crazy. But you were a big part of helping me stay positive in a work day where my job can be really isolating. And I think bringing someone like you in keeps me having fun and staying positive while I'm working, which has been amazing. I am currently coming at you guys from the new Bloom headquarters. That's right, we officially have a permanent office. For those of you who don't know, my husband and I started
Starting point is 00:36:15 Bloom Nutrition back in 2019 based on my own fitness journey. I lost over 90 pounds and completely changed my mindset and my lifestyle overall. Now, while I was losing the weight and I was on my fitness journey, I was constantly looking for supplements that would make me feel my best, perform my best, but also tasted amazing. I would walk into a supplement store and just see all of these products marketed to men in like red and yellow and crazy names like Destroyer. And oh my gosh, it was too much for me. And that's where we saw an opportunity to create a supplement company that I could handpick the ingredients for and make taste amazing. And that's how Bloom Nutrition came to be. You've probably seen our greens all over
Starting point is 00:36:58 the internet. Greens are the easiest way to make sure you're getting in all of your essential nutrients. It's full of organic fruits, veggies, probiotics, superfoods, and more. And they're available in five delicious flavors. Mango is my current favorite, but people also love coconut. So I highly recommend trying both of them. Also, so exciting guys, we literally started this brand out of my dad's attic and now we are available in Target and Walmart nationwide. Go on the website www.bloomnew.com to see our store locator. You can check out which stores are near you. I also have a sneaky code for you guys. You can use code POW, P-O-W, for 10% off greens on our website. That's code POW, P-O-W, for 10% off greens. Enjoy. If you've been listening to all my episodes,
Starting point is 00:37:46 you will know that I have been on a wellness journey of sorts. I've been doing tons of tests for toxins, gut health issues, and more. So I am really taking a look at my whole life and all the different products I'm using and figuring out where can I clean things up. And one place that I looked at was my toothpaste. I found out that we swallow five to 7% of our toothpaste every single time we brush. And most commercial toothpastes are filled with harsh chemicals, artificial flavors, and preservatives, not things I want to be putting in my mouth, let alone swallowing. And that's where I found Bite. Bite are dry toothpaste tablets made with clean ingredients that are sulfate-free, palm oil-free, and glycerin-free.
Starting point is 00:38:33 They're so convenient, you just pop a bit in your mouth, chew it up, and start brushing. It will turn into the paste you're used to, but without the plastic tube or messy paste. It comes in this super cute glass jar that looks amazing on your countertop and it's super easy to throw in a carry-on bag or your purse if you're out for the day, headed to meetings, and you want to stay fresh. Byte is offering our listeners 20% off your first order. Go to trybyte.com slash pow, P-O-W, or use code POW at checkout to claim this deal. That's T-R-Y-B-I-T-E dot com slash POW. Enjoy, guys. This is truly one of my favorite discoveries that I've had as of late. I want to talk about that mindset you have. Something I love about you is that you find
Starting point is 00:39:27 the silver lining in absolutely everything. I mean, everything. I'm, you know, a plan for the worst type of person. Have you developed that over time or have you always been this way? I kind of think I've always been that way. I've always been a very optimistic person. I kind of think it's like my best quality and also like my downfall in a way. Growing up, I always, I remember my friends would be like, you need to like get a backbone and like you're just so nice. And I'd be like, I remember being like, if on my deathbed or like on my, whatever, if on my deathbed, like someone's like, oh, she was too nice all the time.
Starting point is 00:40:02 Like that's the worst thing they can say about me. Then like I probably did pretty good you know what I mean but as I've gotten older I've also learned like okay like you do need to know when to stand up for yourself and have boundaries and like that is something I think that I am still actively really working on and it's not my best thing I think a lot of the time I'm thinking of others. I put others before myself constantly. Someone could like run me over with a car and I'd be like, oh my God, I'm so sorry. I was in your that like I was walking during the pedestrian crosswalk and you hit me like, I'm so sorry. I would. I would be like, they probably are so upset that they did that.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Can you tell us about your superwoman pose? I love this. Amazing. Okay. So I actually don't know where this originated from. I know, I think it's an author. My mom told me about this though. So it's like the concept that if you have to do something really hard or like you're about to go into a meeting and you want to ask for a raise or you have like to public speak or just like anything where you just feel nervous and you just whatever you need this so you go find a mirror and probably like by yourself other people around you might be like what the fuck are you doing but you go stand in the mirror and you put like your hands on your hips like superwoman and you stand there and I can't remember if there's like a mantra you say or something but like it's called like the superwoman pose and it's supposed to help you just kind of like you know like superwoman and
Starting point is 00:41:28 I know Mari had something going on and I was you fired someone oh no you gave them feedback yeah okay yeah I gave someone feedback and Mari was like how are you gonna do this like aren't you terrified I'm like well now I am like but I like went in the mirror and I was like I'm doing my and she was like what like I was like yeah it's my superwoman pose like gotta like but I like went in the mirror and I was like I'm doing my and she was like what like I was like yeah it's my superwoman pose like kind of like take on like another I don't know not personality like another uh persona persona yes that's the term yeah my mom shared that with me and like she said she used to do it like at work so I don't know it's just like a fun little technique I don't know how well it actually works but it's just a nice little thing to
Starting point is 00:42:03 throw in there when you're feeling a little. I love that. I think it's a great tip for anyone listening. If you're about to go to the gym, do something hard, hit the superwoman pose real quick. Or the fee pose, whatever you want to call it. I don't want to get copyrighted for that.
Starting point is 00:42:16 It's a thing. So go on the superwoman pose. Okay, let's talk dating and relationships for a second. Oh, gosh. Because, okay, everyone knows I'm married. I've been with Greg for like eight years. I'm kind of boring. But Fi is out here.
Starting point is 00:42:30 Single for how long now? Oh, you just had a relationship. Yeah. I mean, I was single for like five, maybe even a little longer years before my last relationship. So that was a long time. And that was like a majority of my time in LA. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:42:48 Yeah. What do you feel like has been a pattern in your relationships? I know we've talked about this. You just spoke about your mindset with like being too nice to other people and putting others first. Did that carry over into your relationships as well? Yes, very much so. I think I'm like a very,
Starting point is 00:43:07 this is what I've noticed. I'm a very like nurturing person. I'm a cancer sign. I like, I love to take care of people. That is my love language to others is like, let me just like, like I want to cook for you and take care of you and like all that. And that's great. But I've realized that like I, oh my God, getting really deep here. I do that for someone like right off the bat. Like if I am interested in someone, even like friends, like if I'm interested in someone romantically, I am like, let me just like take care of you. Even if they have not like deserved it yet or shown me that I should be doing that. So then here I am like babying them and taking care of them. And then when they don't reciprocate, I'm like, what the heck?
Starting point is 00:43:52 Like, I'm doing this all for you. And they're usually confused. Like, well, I didn't ask you to or like, I didn't even show that I wanted you to do that. And then I'm like, but I did it. And so it's a weird battle because I'm like I need to get better about like not waiting till I deserve it but like letting someone earn that I guess and not just giving it right off the bat because then I always end up like why are you not reciprocating and half the time they're like I'm so confused like I never asked you to do that for me it was really nice and I don't want you to stop but like do I really want to put in work no you know what I mean but
Starting point is 00:44:29 like why would they if I'm just doing it without them reciprocate like I don't know it's like a it's like a dog it's like I'm giving them the treat before they do the trick and then they're like why would I ever do the trick you're giving me a treat that's a good analogy actually it's like Pavlov's like yeah yeah exactly. That's like kind of what my romantic life is. What would you say your attachment style is? Oh, OK. So I got so into this stuff. Oh, my God. I would come in and I'd be like, Mari. Oh, my God. So there's this book. I think it's called Anxiously Attached. It's like a big magnet on the cover. I got the audio book and I dove into that thing. I think I finished it in a day. But it's just a big magnet on the cover i got the audiobook and i dove into that thing i
Starting point is 00:45:05 think i finished it in a day but it's just all about the different attachment styles and i realize i am very much anxiously attached and wait what are all the attachment styles there's secure attachment which is like the good one that's what you want there's avoidant attachment that is like people avoid the situation and then anxious that's what i am there's also another one that's like there's also ones that are like combinations of, I think. That's what I have. Yeah, you're like a combo.
Starting point is 00:45:30 It's called the confused attachment. There you go. We love that. We love that. Shout out to BPD. Yeah, there you go. So it's a confused attachment. So the whole point is that like,
Starting point is 00:45:40 a secure attachment, well, a secure should be with a secure, but like a secure attachment should be with an avoid but like a secure attachment should be with an avoidant or a secure attachment should be with an anxious. But like an avoidant and an anxious should never be together. But weirdly, they end up together a lot.
Starting point is 00:45:54 And it's kind of like until someone changes, like that is never going to work. And for some reason, I feel like I, like a lot of people, I'm drawn to these. Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:04 It's because you're recreating the trauma that you had in your childhood. Yeah. Essentially. That's what I've been told by my therapist. Yeah. Probably something like that. Yeah. For sure.
Starting point is 00:46:14 But so, yeah, I am anxiously attached for sure. I've kind of gone through that. And there's a, I forget like the exact wording of it, but it basically said an anxiously attached person only feels like as secure in their relationship as their last their last conversation with the person like you could literally be dating someone for two years and they could tell you they are in love with you and all stuff like if your last confrontation or whatever with them like is left a little off you will be like oh my god they don't love me I don't know like I just feel like my last
Starting point is 00:46:43 relationship we would part ways and I'd be like it's over like he doesn't I don't know you just you think crazy it's an abandonment issues yes yes I would feel abandoned and I hated that and I think that also comes from like you know coming with divorced parents and just a childhood like that I think it triggers abandonment stuff for sure so that's like a total another thing I could dive deep in. But yes, I'm definitely anxiously attached and I'm working on it. And even in that, they kind of teach you that like they're not supposed to fix your problems and they're not supposed to make you that too. I think I'd be like, well, you need to be secure for me because I'm anxious.
Starting point is 00:47:18 Like that's not how it works either. Kind of like you with your BPD. Like, yeah, obviously, Greg works with you. But like it's it's not his problem. It's not his responsibility. Exactly. And like he's your BPD. Like, obviously, Greg works with you, but like, it's not his problem. It's not his responsibility. Exactly. And like, he's your partner. He's your husband.
Starting point is 00:47:29 He should be there for you and stuff. But like, I need to figure it out for myself. So I'm working on that because I don't like, I want to be secure so I can find someone secure. Yeah. As an anxious, I'm attracting avoidance.
Starting point is 00:47:40 We don't want avoidance in this house. We don't want avoidance. But I feel like on this fitness journey, you have been finding a lot of security in yourself like I feel like I've watched you become way more I don't know you just seem different now and I feel like after your last breakup I've seen you become way more confident in who you are thank you I think I got to the point where I'm like if I don't even love myself why would someone else love me I know that sounds so like corny but like truly if I don't even love myself, why would someone else love me? I know that sounds so like corny, but like truly, if I don't like myself or love myself, why would someone else?
Starting point is 00:48:11 And also just a little shift in my mindset. I used to go on dates and be like, I hope this guy likes me. Like I hope he leaves the day and likes me. And now like I've heard this like on podcasts. I leave a date and I'm like do I even like him like is he even that great I very quickly kind of like the nurturing thing I build people up in my head and I'm like oh it was amazing and then I like kind of I'm trying to learn how to like sit back and be like but was it amazing like he didn't open the door for me we like split the
Starting point is 00:48:40 bill and then I kind of like actually have to think about be like oh wait okay like maybe he's not but I'm just I don't. I have this like fairy tale. I meet someone, I'm like, he's the one. I'm like, no, he's not. So, and I've always at the end been like, oh, wow, okay, like I'm so glad I didn't think that one was the one because he wasn't. Fia, are you ready for a rapid fire fan Q&A? Yes, I will try to keep it quick. I talk too much. No, well, she's dropping major inspo, guys. So we appreciate it, Fi. Rapid fire fan Q&A. Ready. If you weren't working with Mari, what would you
Starting point is 00:49:14 be doing? I have no clue. I would probably still be doing something in the fitness industry. I know we've talked about this. I'd probably like want to be like a trainer or like maybe like a life coach or like some sort of accountability for someone. Cool think I would like to do that yeah are our personalities alike no but I think we complement each other like I think we're actually very different but we work together very well I agree favorite greens flavor oh coconut I'm a coconut girl mango is really good too and actually like the original like the citrus berry original i love the original but the coconut is just so good my favorite what do you look for in a guy are we talking what i actually look for what i should be looking for
Starting point is 00:50:00 my things i always tend to go for are like the kind of frat guy with the fluffy hair that's like probably not that nice to me but I'm learning to go for a secure person and someone that really puts me first and I used to think like I weirdly end up dating a lot of guys my height yeah I'm like a taller girl but like like, we love short kings. Yeah. Harry Styles said at his concert the other night, he was like, we love short kings.
Starting point is 00:50:30 I was like, I love you. Great. Do you borrow Mari's clothes? Yes. It's like one of the best things. She'll be like, should I buy this?
Starting point is 00:50:40 And I'm like, 100% because I will be borrowing it. And you're like, that is one awesome perk, you guys. Mari like, is so nice about it. Like, she'll be like, she'll be like, I'm gonna buy this and I'm like 100% because I will be borrowing it and you're like that is one awesome perk you guys Mari like is so nice about it like she'll be like she'll be like I'm gonna buy this like you would look so cute in it too and I'm like okay listen it's a win for both of us okay it's very nice and we do get sent a lot of clothes yeah so we both get the honor of wearing free clothes which we love we love can you speak about your boob job story? Oh, why did you get your boobs done? And do you have your boobs done? I just told them that you have your boobs done.
Starting point is 00:51:09 I do. I got them two years ago. It was like during COVID. I wasn't in the office. So I was like, that was the time. Like, because, you know, like whenever like if you have a job in office, like when are you supposed to take a week? That's not so obvious that you come back and you're just like, hey, everybody. So I was like, this is perfect timing. I have wanted them my whole freaking life, like literally my whole life. I've researched them my whole life. If you look through my phone album, you'd probably be like, what is wrong with this girl? Like the amount of boobs in my, like I used to have albums of like boobs that like, like boob job photos, not just like girls boobs, but like boob job photos of ones that like I liked. Like I really, it was something I was super insecure about my whole life and I did it and it's the
Starting point is 00:51:49 best thing I've ever done for myself. I can't imagine you without them. Like to me, you are a boob. I am one big boob. They're part of my personality. They fit me. I got them exactly how I wanted them because they fit me so naturally that like a lot of people can't tell and that like they do fit me, you know? I agree of people can't tell and that like they do fit me, you know? I agree. I can't picture you without them. They really compliment you.
Starting point is 00:52:09 Thank you. Go-to song at the gym? You know what I love? Two Friends' Big Booty remixes. They're hour long. So I put them on and I'm like, by the time I'm done with this, my workout will be over.
Starting point is 00:52:21 This song changes every 15 seconds and like it just, I don't know. I've tried to like, Mario like loves like rap and like crazy hip. I can't. Pop Smoke. Yeah, I like it a little. I do like that sometimes. It depends on the workout. But like generally, I like a fast paced little mashup. You got to get that mashup for me on my phone. I'll get it for you. It's on Spotify. It used to just be on SoundCloud. Thank you, V. Now it's time for the question we ask every guest. I started this podcast because I believe everyone's pursuit of wellness looks different. What does wellness mean to you? Wellness to me is, God, I should have prepared for this. Okay. Is I would just mental and physical for sure.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Just through my wellness journey, I've learned it's not just about how my body looks and the number on the scale. It's really about the big picture. At the end of the day, it's like, am I happy? Am I feeling fulfilled? Are my relationships thriving
Starting point is 00:53:25 like do I feel like I have energy everyday it's just like all that kind of combined I would say is wellness to me that was like very broad
Starting point is 00:53:34 no I like that feeling good and like if I wake up everyday and I'm like okay I'm feeling good if I'm not then I'm like okay I need to make some changes
Starting point is 00:53:39 yeah I love it just waking up feeling good everyday that's wellness to me where can people find you online what's coming up give us the plugs oh my gosh okay Yeah. So I love it. Just waking up feeling good every day. That's wellness to me. Where can people find you online? What's coming up?
Starting point is 00:53:48 Give us the plugs. Oh my gosh. Okay. On Instagram, it's Fiona Addix. F-I-O-N-A-A-T-T-I-X. And I think it's the same on like TikTok. I don't really use too much of the other ones, but you can find me on Instagram.
