Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up QAA listeners? The fun games have begun. I found a way to connect to the internet. I'm sorry, boy. Welcome listener to Premium Chapter 186 of the Q&ONANANANANANANIS podcast, the Roblox, Nazis, and Xenomorph episode. As always, we are your host, Jake Rockatansky, Liv Egar, Julian Field, and Travis Vue.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Hello everybody. We are here grouping together to come up with the biggest nonsense possible for an episode where we all get to kick back and best of all, listen to the first entry in Jake's new trilogy that we have been performing live. This will be the album version, you know, that I get to do post on. And also, we have live with us. So she's finally not sick. And, you know, she was meant to perform Marjorie Taylor Green. Live, now she gets to perform it in studio. In studio, exactly. Yes, yeah. You get every little inflection of her acting skill that she learned at the Jacques Lecoq School of Clowning. Exactly. This is exactly like how they do it on the live albums.
Starting point is 00:01:14 You know, you have a bunch of different artists in the studio to record the album version, and then live, you can't always get everybody, you know? So I'll also be able to score it a little bit better because it's, you know, I don't have to trigger the stuff live. And, you know, just, just, just. like music, some of you will prefer the live version, some of you will prefer the studio album version. There's like only, there's like hundreds of people out there that will be able to
Starting point is 00:01:40 know the difference because they'll have experienced it. The others will, they'll take what we serve them. They will accept what we put on the plate. So this is the first chapter, I guess, in a three-chapter journey. Jake will be performing the second one in the first, essentially the first of the two big legs of our tour which will be seeing us in October, starting with the second, then the fourth, sixth, eighth,
Starting point is 00:02:05 10th, and 18th, going to all kinds of places. We go into freaking San Diego and then Berkeley and then fucking I don't know, Austin, Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, fucking Denver, Colorado, fucking Los Angeles,
Starting point is 00:02:21 dude. So yeah. Pyongyang to show support for Juchay. Yes. We're going to be going there. We're going to be going to Italy because we've been invited by a prime minister, Hitler Melons, or whatever her name is. We're looking forward to that. And also, on this episode, we've invited Liv to continue to dish out the pain and bring us some of the twisted tales that she so specializes in, I suppose at this point, having brought us, what, Star Wars, which was hell. TikToks. There was, um, uh, on the Twitch, on the Twitch shows there was, um, Darmann. Oh, yeah. That's horrible. Pain, very bad.
Starting point is 00:03:05 And, and then there was the episode where we covered, uh, Club Penguin. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a barrage of pain. Uh, and this, this week's particular pain, uh, is in the Roblox Nazis category somehow. So that should be fun. If you're not familiar, Roblox is like a kind of children's, uh, massively multiplayer online game that looks kind of like Minecraft and has become insane, so huge, big economy in real life and in the game and has basically just destroyed children's
Starting point is 00:03:38 lives, which we are all for. Anti-child podcast, Hugh and Anonymous. We're the opposite of pedophiles who are attracted to children. We are repulsed by children. So there we go, guaranteed that we will never, I don't know where I'm going with this. and people are really leaving me hanging. So I'm going to shut up and we can kick right into it. I think we'll start with the Roblox.
Starting point is 00:04:02 As usual, Jake's story will be dessert. So Liv, you know, the instruments are out on the table. We're strapped into the chair. Let's go. What's first? The drill, the knife, the stuff. I will say this time Julian did ask for it. The other times it was just like, I was like, I guess I accidentally.
Starting point is 00:04:20 I don't know what happens. And it just produced mind-rending stories. This time, Julian was like, do it. So it's not my fault. I think I do. No one can get mad at me. Get mad at Julian. I'm an aggressive person.
Starting point is 00:04:31 You know, I dish out microaggressions. And so, yeah, I kind of deep down feel like I deserve this. Roblox Nazi LARPERS. Roblox is a land of contrast. Oh, fantastic. Great opener. Sure this is a quality paper, not written a light night before. Boy, Julian is really on his bullshit today.
Starting point is 00:04:50 She did it on purpose. I'm playing into her. Purposefully bad opener. Webster's Dictionary defines Roblox. While it was initially intended as a baby game, its custom mapmaker allows for a great deal of possibilities. Essentially, it's molded into a massive social game with even adults playing it, where one runs around in their custom-made avatar, is able to talk with and interact with
Starting point is 00:05:13 others on the many different custom maps that its in-game mapmaker facilitates. There are maps for everything conceivable, from functioning first-person shooters to the fantasy PVE games, to deep space exploration tycoons, to, I think, the most popular theme within Roblox, which is role-playing map games based on real life. In these maps, you can buy and sell property, rob people, kill them. It's very similar to the GTA role-playing games, which is like, that's what you do. You make money and you murder people, and then you run from police, which in this game are other human beings who have taken up and applied for the role of Roblox cop. So voluntary cops, that's really virtual voluntary cops. That's worse than this, just your profession.
Starting point is 00:06:01 You're just a cop for fun now. The degree to which people have sunk time into producing expansive role-playing communities in some of these servers is pretty shocking. And as might be obvious, people sometimes take these Roblox larps a little bit too seriously. A byproduct of this is a phenomenon that's been relatively well documented and is the use of role-playing Roblox servers by the far right to recruit young people to their political ideology. This is most commonly done in servers that allow for role-playing of political organizations. One of the best examples of this is the weird Roman larp covered by Cecilia
Starting point is 00:06:31 the Nastassio's piece in Wired. A far-right group had made a bizarre pretend version of a Roman outpost in Parthia and used their connections on other servers, many of which are targeted explicitly for children like Star Wars role-playing games, to draw young impressionable people to their home base. This Parthia map had a strict social hierarchy set around its leader and explicitly condemned things like race mixing, feminism, and homosexuality. It was sort of like a pretend-larp version of Caesar's Legion and Fallout. Oh, boy. But even this bizarre world of far-right Roblox communities gets even weirder.
Starting point is 00:07:05 When looking for insane things to bring onto this show, I found a relatively more obscure version of the far-right Roblox world, one that I'll give credit to someone named Sam Stewart for writing about initially. This is a political group on Roblox by the name of the American Valkist Party. You have been listening to a sample of a premium episode of QAnon Anonymous.
