He's been talking Star Wars non-stop for months.
But what did he say when he came face to face with Kylo Ren?
Will you join us?
I build a lightsaber.
This is magic. Share it at Walt Disney World Resort, the most magical place on Earth.
You have really old eyes, but I had a great time with you.
You got a dead tooth? I think you should get that looked at. How did you get here? How did I be here? But what's it all about?
Oh forget it
I saw a movie Daniel O'Brien
Two best friends and comedy writers
If there's an answer they're gonna find it
I think you'll have a great time here
I think you'll have a great time here. I think you'll have a great time here.
So hello again and welcome to another episode
of Quick Question with Soren and Daniel the podcast.
We're two best friends and comedy writers
give each other questions and give each other answers
and give each other shit and give each other permission
to screw up and be imperfect.
Give each other some fucking grace.
I am so grateful. Insurance is underwritten by either Independence American Insurance Company or United States Fire Insurance Company and produced by PDZ Insurance Agency Limited.
The ASPCA is not an insurer and is not engaged in the business of insurance.
My name is Daniel O'Brien.
I'm the senior writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the author of How to Fight
Presidents, and I'm joined by my best friend, Mr. Soren Buie.
Soren, say hello.
Tell them a little bit about yourself.
Hey, hey, everybody.
I'm Soren Buie.
I'm a writer for American Dad, still to this day.
Yeah, you might be thinking,
actually none of you are thinking this
unless this is the first time you're listening to the podcast,
American Dad is still on,
in your really high voice like that
when you really don't know if something's true.
Is American Dad still on?
American Dad is not only still on,
it's gonna run for eternity.
It'll outlive all of us.
When the earth is eaten by the sun,
it'll still be playing on some moon base in their hotel.
Can I?
Oh, America Dad's still on.
Can I tell you something that's lovely
for a number of reasons?
Yeah.
Great, I'm gonna.
So on Monday, I met up with my childhood best friend,
Joe, whom you've met at the wedding
and shared communication with. Great fella. with my childhood best friend, Joe, whom you've met at the wedding
and shared communication with.
Great fella, a real salt of the earth, sweetheart.
And we'd met up for St. Patty's Day
of all the absurd things for people
in their late thirties to be doing.
And he was telling me that since meeting you
and talking to you at the wedding and spending
a little bit of time with you, he decided to check out the Soren seasons of American
Dad.
It's very sweet to me.
A, it's incredibly effective advertising.
I mean, not effective.
We can't do it at scale.
We can't have you go around meeting people and have them be like, I want to support Sorin.
But it's like, I don't know, I've never left a wedding and decided like I'm going to consume
that person's body of work now that I've met them in person.
But it was effective advertising for him and it worked.
And it's also just like, that's a real sweetie move on his part to be like, that Sorin is
nice.
I want to support him.
And they just started watching all of the Soren starting seasons of American Dad.
And Joe's relationship to that show was like mine, which is we watched it when it came
out and then you sort of disappear from it for a while.
And then you watch it when Soren's on.
So he's been going through that whole journey and he's like, this show is so funny.
It is. He's like, we show is so funny. Like it is.
He's like, we're done with all the Soarin' episodes.
We started to go back.
And the old ones are good too.
I'm like, yeah, it's a good show.
There's always the danger.
Like my dad, when he started watching it,
he was like, I just started at the beginning.
And I was like, well, don't do that.
Don't start there.
But yeah, that's very kind of him.
He is always a front runner between you two are like neck and neck in the who is the nicest
person in the entire world.
Who's the best of us?
Me and Joe?
Yeah.
I don't know about that.
You guys are both, I think you know that growing up, you made it an effort to be a very sweet
kid and be a good person.
And he also comes by that very naturally.
Yeah.
He's just a kind, good person.
I shouldn't say just.
He is that and then probably a lot of other things.
But in the time that I met him, he was all of that.
Yeah.
Well, Daniel, I want to talk to you not about a good show today.
I want to talk to you again about The Bachelor. today. I want to talk to you again about The Bachelor.
But The Bachelor, The Bachelor, The Bachelor update.
I had a small panic move because very quickly,
every other week, Soren has been recapping me
on what happens on The Bachelor,
a show he has never watched until this season,
a show I have never watched before either.
And I went from not being very invested in it to being incredibly invested to how the
show is presented to me in these twice a month installments.
And some combination of the surveillance state and me sharing our podcast when it comes on
Instagram has tweaked my Instagram algorithm a bit.
So it started feeding me other podcast hosts doing bachelor recaps.
People who do this regularly, like Instagram correctly was like, this guy sure seems to
enjoy hearing about the bachelor.
And I was like, yes, but it's very specific.
And Instagram was like, no, I know. You want someone in front of a microphone on Instagram.
I was like, I know you think that, but I don't.
I only want one person doing it.
And in fact, I can't have these two women
spoiling The Bachelor for me.
I can't, because I saw bits and pieces of stuff coming in.
And I was like, I need to go into this fresh.
And I need to just completely purge all of my info
from Instagram.
Well, that's sort of haunting.
I mean, it's only been us talking about it.
You're not like hunting that information out.
So somehow it has gotten into the algorithm
that you heard about the Bachelor.
Because I'm not getting served that stuff.
It's like, oh, this dude already knows this stuff.
We also don't really do Instagram.
And I do Instagram.
And I will occasionally collaborate on a reel with the quick question official Instagram
account.
So that will go into my feed.
And Gabe, who is our sound engineer editor and our social media department is very good about tagging and I don't know,
SEO for those things.
So I'm sure there was some bleed over from there
from me going from sharing Reels and collaborating
on Reels about Bachelor to my present now.
I have noticed that I haven't gotten any
promoted Instagram accounts about fixing all the
fucking shit that's wrong with my house all the time. God knows I talk about more than,
I talk about that more than The Bachelor. Well, you're going to be excited to know
then it's almost over. The house? The misery of The Bachelor is almost behind you.
I always come on and do like two episodes at a time because there's just, despite the
fact that show is two hours long, there's not enough shit to talk about when you just
watch one episode.
It is a slog.
It is a slog.
Is one episode two hours long?
Yes.
Every episode is a movie and a bad movie that's too long. It's a Ridley Scott movie. Oh my is a movie. And a bad, like a movie that's too long.
It's a Ridley Scott movie.
Oh my God.
Yeah. Every episode is the last duel.
Yeah.
I have a dog. His name is Jackson.
There is not a single thing I wouldn't do for my dog.
I care about him deeply.

The ASPCA is not an insurer and is not engaged in the business of insurance.
So there are two episodes I warned you that were coming up.
One was that the girls, there's like a tell all where the girls who,
I'm really gonna try and be good about this,
where the women who didn't get chosen yet
all get together for a rehashing of what's gone on.
Now this gets filmed, I'm pretty confident,
after the show is already over.
So there's no new information coming to any of them,
especially the bachelor, cause he's on it.
He comes on and like talks to them.
But there's no new information that he's gleaning
from all the clips that he's now seeing
of the women when they're not with him.
So I think by this point, he's already made his choice.
He comes back on the show, these women all get together
and they just hash out their shit because none of it's solved.
All of them have left a lot of loose ends,
especially with their fights.
And they just pick up right where they left off.
Like they don't, they all had held onto
every single grudge that they had.
That I think, while it sounds very compelling,
is just a lot of people shouting over each other
and being angry, and there's very little
to talk about there.
I will talk about Carolina a little bit,
but the real interesting thing is Fantasy Suites,
which was the other thing coming up,
which is where he gets to have a chance
to finally have sex with every single one of these women.
And I'm shocked that the show allows this
because it's so chaste up until this point.
Everybody talks about love,
but they talk about it in like the grand scheme
of like how you love a family and never in like the,
so just like break it down for me.
How big is your dick?
Like we never get any of that.
Like the stuff that would be crucial to a relationship
and knowing whether you're sexually compatible.
They pretend like that doesn't exist for a very long time.
So anyway, let me just quickly start with this rundown
of how the women all see each other again.
Alex is on that.
Alex, if you're not following, Alex is my daughter's speech therapist.
The reason I started watching the show in the first place continues to be very charming
and is wonderful.
There's a moment where there's a fight happening on the stage, a verbal fight happening on
stage and it's two women on either side of her and you watch her on the stage go and
just slowly move back out of the way to the point where she's basically like lying
down. It's wonderful. This is also the only time that guy, Jesse, who is the host of the show,
I think does anything on the show. He kind of tries to lead the conversation, but he's worse
than like a presidential moderator, a debate moderator. He doesn't do shit. These women just fight and this one woman, Carolina,
is the woman that everybody else hates.
And she is sticking to her guns.
She's a corrector, which means like,
anytime a woman says something,
she's like, that's not exactly right.
That's not fair.
Like that, she has to like really set the record straight
and it's never what I knew.
Anybody else's interpretation of what has happened
or even how they're feeling, not correct.
Carolina doesn't like it.
And she's also, I realized in this episode,
what's like really dangerous about her
and the reason all these women dislike her
is she's just a time suck.
Like she's a consumer of your energy and time.
She is, she wants to explain herself,
but she will really make a meal of it.
She takes her time doing it and never really says much,
but talks an awful lot.
And I didn't realize it till one of these women,
Dina, who was like the,
I consider maybe the smartest one.
She was-
You wanted Dina to win?
Is that right?
Nah, I mean, I want Alex.
And then I, and then my second choice is Juliana
and Juliana is still in it.
Cause I pick right.
Sure.
So Dina's like that.
She's like, she starts to interrupt Carolina.
Carolina's like, can I finish?
Can I finish?
And she's like, yeah, but you've been taking nine minutes
to say what you want to say.
And I was like, you're absolutely right.
She does it every single time.
She has like, sometimes she's right. She does it every single time.
Sometimes she's right in some respects, like the way she talked about the show
and how weird it is that we're marrying this guy,
but it's like, baby, you signed up for this.
This is the plan.
And also, you stop saying that over and over again.
You've taken so long to say the things you wanna say.
Anyway, there's not a lot that's very compelling.
The llama came back.
They brought the llama back on stage.
What?
By what logic?
I don't understand.
May talk to Alex briefly and they'll say-
The llama doesn't have much to contribute.
Not load bearing, easy lift.
But the llama is,
it was such a hit in the first episode, I guess.
Like people were talking a lot about this llama
that they talk about it as,
Alex, you actually did find true love on the show.
Can we bring her out?
And they bring out the llama
and Alex makes a big show of like, I love this llama.
This was my llama all along I've decided.
And so that's nice.
And the llama gets like a lot of airtime.
Everybody else like also pretends
that they really like this farm animal
up on stairs with them.
And that's pretty much it.
He does come on, the bachelor comes on
and like also hashes some shit out with these women
because they have some access to grind with him as well.
And he's pretty diplomatic.
I mean, he does a pretty good job in general
of like making them feel seen and heard despite the fact and he's pretty diplomatic. I mean, he does a pretty good job in general of like making them feel seen and heard
despite the fact that he's like,
but also I don't wanna be with you.
Which is like a really tough needle to thread.
Yeah.
There's not a ton that goes on.
Now, this is like the real meat, fantasy suites.
Yeah, that was the explicitly sexual thing, correct?
Yeah, there's three women for fantasy suites.
There is Zoe, Juliana, and Latia.
And I don't know if you remember from hometowns,
which I talked about last week, Latia is Mormon.
And comes from a big ass Mormon family.
She is already decided she's not having sex
at fantasy suites.
Hell yeah.
And is pretty upset with the fact
that he's gonna be sleeping with these other two women.
She's pretty confident he will.
But she's not gonna get any sort of commitment out of him
that he's not gonna do that.
So really they save her for last.
They get to talk to other women
who have previously been on the show.
And at this point they're losing it.
Previously been on the show,
just like other iterations of The Bachelor.
Yeah, other seasons.
I don't know if they're the winners
or if they're just like ones that went really far,
but they get to talk to other ones
because I don't blame them or producers for like,
thinking you might need a little advice in this circumstance
because these women are spinning out.
The idea that you are,
there's somebody that you're falling in love with
who says a lot of the things that you wanna hear, talks about falling in love with you and how he sees himself with you and raising
children with you. And then 12 hours later is going to be having sex with another woman telling
her the same stuff. It's a pretty haunting, it's a tall order. So these other women come on and
they say, Hey, I also went through this and do you have any questions for me?
And Juliana, who is my now, my favorite choice.
She's like, yeah, how did you survive this?
I don't wanna be, I have a choice right now.
I can either continue to try and fall in love with this guy
or I can just save myself.
Like I can put a wall up and not deal with this anymore.
And if I win the show, I win the show,
but this is not gonna ever be a relationship that lasts."
And she's like, yes, great question.
And she gives her kind of like that rom-com advice
where she's like, you just, you gotta open your heart.
You don't live if you don't open your heart.
Like that's what living is.
So Julie, I was like, okay, I'm gonna do it.
She cries to him.
She complains that this is, I don't know, like fairly.
She complains that this is a bad situation
that she doesn't like that he's gonna be sleeping
with other women.
He's like, I hear that.
Period.
Yeah.
I hear that, but you understand why a show like this would be appealing to a person like
me, right?
This is why I was on the show.
It would make a very unbelievably romantic story for the two of us if I said, screw the
fantasy sweets.
I'm not doing this part of the show.
I'm running away with you right now
because I'm so sure of that.
And we live happily ever after.
That would be pretty romantic.
Seems pretty unlikely.
Seems like not gonna,
just doesn't seem like a great foundation
to start a happily ever after.
And in the meantime, I am certain
that I can fuck these other women right now
as part of my job.
And that just seems like the better path forward for me.
There's a weird conceit too,
where as he's talking to these women,
they're all like,
Grant, you've shown up for me
in ways that other men have not.
And I'm like, oh, bless your fucking little heart.
This guy is having sex with three other women
and you think that he's showing up for you.
Anything that he's ever done for you was a producer's idea.
Like he has not done a single thing for you.
He listens to you.
He does, he listens really well.
He cries with them.
When they cry, he cries with them.
And he says a lot of the right things
to make them feel very seen and heard.
And he did that.
But other than that, he is not showing up for shit.
For all those other guys in your life who didn't show up,
I'm about to do one thing that they definitely never did.
This is another way that I'm an exception.
Right.
And it is three nights, like three straight nights.
So he's like bouncing from one cabana
to another essentially.
Cause they can't leave him in the Dominican Republic forever, which I mean,
I don't think I could do that. Even if there were like biological imperative,
like even if there were like three of the most gorgeous women in the world and
they're like three nights in a row, you're going to have sex with these three women.
I think I would be like, I don't think I want that. I think I won't enjoy it.
I think that sounds really bad.
Can we space it out a bit?
Yeah.
For all of our sake.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's been talking Star Wars nonstop for months,
but what did he say when he came face to face with Kylo Ren?
Will you join us?
I build a lightsaber. This is Magic. Share it at
Walt Disney World Resort, the most magical place on earth.
So he sleeps with, he has his first date with Juliana, he sleeps with Juliana. The
next morning is also very funny because they continue to pretend the show is very
chased where the things that they talk about are a lot, mostly what they're The next morning is also very funny because they continue to pretend the show is very chaste
where the things that they talk about are a lot.
Mostly what they're talking about the next morning
is just the conversations they had the night before
as opposed to we finally did it.
The closest you get to finding out
that they actually had sex is she's like,
I think I had a lot of questions answered last night.
I'm like, yeah, that's exactly right.
I think you probably did.
I think you had a lot of questions going into this.
But also neither one of them has ever like,
that was a great night.
Even that, you're not getting that.
They're saying that was an incredible talk we had.
Like, no, talk about the sex that's why I'm here.
No one's even like, I need like a gallon of water
because of all the questions that I got answered last night.
It was such a special talk that I need to lie down.
I need some electrolytes to recover from the emotional conversation that we had.
And I need to take a shower independently of everything. So he does that day with Juliana
and then she's like, all right, bye. And he leaves and goes directly on a date with Zoe.
Zoe is a woman who I have a very hard,
I can't get a read on her because I never think of,
either there's no real Zoe or I've never seen it.
There's never been a moment where I'm like,
oh, the mask has slipped a little,
this is who she genuinely is.
She's just like a very put together person
who doesn't ask questions, gets a lot,
like only answers questions.
Not a person I would ever like, really, she's a model, she wouldn't,
it's not a person I'd ever wanna hang out with
in my real life, but I think is like right up his alley.
Like this is exactly what he wants.
He goes on a date with Zoe, it's boring, they fuck.
They have some sex.
She doesn't really talk about the other women too much.
And then he goes on his date with Latia
and Latia is who we've all been waiting for
because Latia is like, please don't sleep with other people.
And I don't wanna have sex with you either yet.
And he goes on this date with her.
I just gotta set the scene.
When they go on these dates, there's like a day date
where they go do some exploratory thing
like doom bugging or zip lining.
And then they have a night where they talk and ostensibly eat dinner, but they don't do that.
And then they go back. And then he at the dinner, he's like, hey, I have something for you.
And his hands are an envelope. L3 Girl's an envelope. They open it. It's a card written by Jesse.
And Jesse's like, hey, just a little something I wanted to offer you guys.
If you don't wanna stay in your separate rooms
and you both agree, I've got this fantasy suite for you.
And then there's a little key in there.
And you watch Grant, Grant hands these women this letter
and then watches them read it.
And it gets a little bit creepy to see him like,
try to see what they're, try to read them as they're reading it.
Yeah.
Latia reads it and she's like, okay, Grant,
I want you to know that sex is not on the table.
And he does the same thing he does when he,
when she like tells him she's Mormon,
he doesn't know what that means.
He puts his chin out and starts like blinking
with his whole face and nodding.
Sure. Like, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, blinking with his whole face and nodding like,
I'm processing this. And she's like, I don't want to sleep with you tonight. Sex is not on the table. And he's like, okay, I respect that. Do you still want to stay in the room with me?
Right. As he's looking off camera to the producer who promised him sex every night, he was like,
no, totally. I get that. I just need to just check real quick.
I'm just gonna go over my contract one more time
because the man with the clipboard said.
Yeah, that was promised.
I was promised something.
I won't go into what it was.
It does seem like, no one is saying this,
but the read I'm getting from it is that
as she's saying no and he's asking if she the read I'm getting from it is that as she's
saying no, and he's asking if she still wants to stay in the room, is he's thinking to himself,
could we just do some hand stuff?
Can we just do other stuff other than sex?
I know sex is the thing that turns God's attention, but there's lots of other cool shit we could
do that God won't even know. Yeah. She says, she also says a really weird thing
when she says sex isn't on the table.
She says, I don't think I'd be comfortable with that
and with all the other people around.
And I was like, what does that mean?
And I don't know if she's saying that there's the other
women who are nearby and she doesn't like that fact that like she'd be sleeping with him knowing full well that there's other
women who are feeling the same way she does. Very emotionally intelligent if that's the truth.
Or she's saying there's a lot of camera crew. I have to say this out loud that I'm not going
to have sex with you. When these cameras are off and no one is around, we'll see, like we'll roll the dice then. I don't think she sleeps with him.
He stays the night, he brings her breakfast in the morning,
he like puts breakfast on the bed for her in the morning.
She is by the only one,
the only one who looks like she genuinely just woke up.
The other ones are already wearing eyelashes and stuff
when they get up in the morning.
I think that, I think, and I like her a lot more for that.
I like her that she was just like, no, I'm waking up.
Like, this is how I look.
And brings her breakfast.
They talk a little bit more.
And by the way, their whole date,
she goes zip lining with him.
At the beginning, she talks to this woman
from a previous bachelor and she's like,
hey, you were religious too.
You wanted him to wait.
And he did.
He said he wasn't gonna sleep
with any of the other women there.
And then he slept with one of them.
How did you deal with that?
And the one was like,
it was emotionally devastating for me.
I hated it.
She was like, okay, good.
This is all really good advice.
Great.
And she's like, what I would encourage you to do
is he told me and that's what really fucked me up.
So the minute that you see him make clear,
I don't wanna know what you've done with the other women.
And Latia's like, that's a great idea.
I don't want it to run the date.
I don't wanna be thinking about the whole date.
I wanna just, and so she does that.
She tells him, I don't wanna think about it.
Guess what she does the whole date.
I bet she thinks about it.
Way worse.
Way worse to not know.
No, by the end she does I think.
I think the next morning she asked him.
But the entire date, she is a mess.
She's an emotional, like a nervous wreck
trying to zip line and like about to throw up
while she's zip lining because all she can do
is think about how this dude that's in front of her
that she thinks she's falling in love with
has just been having sex with two other women. Two. And so it's like a haunting position to put them all in. The whole conceit of the show,
I know that everybody else is already used to this, they're calloused to it. I'm brand new to this
and I hate it for them. I hate that they do this to people.
do this to people. As he's as he's cramming his dick into some zipline harness and she's like he seems he
seems pretty sore.
It's pretty tender in the harness parts.
Why do you suppose?
Yeah he's just like he looks a little drained.
He's gaunt. He's gaunter than normal.
There's one more thing about the date with Latia
that I wanna mention.
He says that, it's the first time that he's talked logistics
with any of these women
about how they would actually be married,
how any of that could actually work.
And he asked her if she would even,
if she'd moved to New Jersey, which I didn't remember,
but I guess is where he lives.
Great. And she was like, yeah, she'd be open to moving there, quitting her didn't remember, but I guess is where he lives. Great.
And she was like, yeah, she'd be open to moving there,
quitting her job or whatever she had going on
and moving to New Jersey.
And then he asked her, what's your timeline for kids?
Now, Latia is 30, 31, I think.
And Latia is like, I want to have kids in the next two years.
And he goes, cool.
Also, Latia, if someone says you want to move to Jersey,
ask a follow-up question. Yeah, where? Find out what county. Yeah, Latia, if someone says you want to move to Jersey, ask a follow-up question.
Yeah. Where? Find out what county.
Yeah. What? It's a very diverse state. We've got a lot of different kinds of places in New Jersey.
A lot of different slices of Americana available in New Jersey. Pretty grim, someone pretty grim.
in New Jersey. Pretty grim, someone pretty grim. So he asked her, she said she'd moved in New Jersey.
Then she says that she wants to have kids in two years. And she thinks obviously for like,
that's what doctors say and stuff. She's like, I think it'd be important for me to have kids within two years. Cut immediately to his interrogation with just the camera. He's like,
that's a little early for me.
And I don't-
This whole thing, this whole time was kids and family.
I know.
But I mean, also she is saying essentially,
I just met you.
We are still essentially strangers.
The amount of time that we spent together
has been a cumulative probably five hours.
And I'm ready to have children with you in two years.
Like there's not even a time to get to know each other
really in two years.
It's pretty crazy.
And, but he likes it.
He's into it.
Even though her timeline's different than his,
it is, he is interested in getting somebody pregnant fast.
And so he, by the time the rose ceremony rolls around, he chooses Latia and he chooses
Juliana and Zoe gets the boot. Zoe, to her credit, then he has this moment where like,
it gets this far, he has to break up with each one of these women. Like he has to go
as he goes and walks them out of whatever gorgeous place they are. And he's like, Hey,
are you okay? And she's like, yeah, I'm all right.
I hope that you find love.
He's always pretty cool about the whole thing.
And then she flies home from the Dominican Republic
because the guy that just told her over and over again
that he's falling for her and that he could see himself
spending the rest of his life with her was like,
actually, I don't think so.
I think we had sex and that was pretty fun.
And now I think you should go home.
Yeah.
It's gonna be hard for you to understand,
but you failed the sex part.
That's gotta be how it feels.
We get a little sizzle reel of what's coming up
and it's the final finale,
which I think is maybe even longer than two hours.
But it is, what we get is him just vacillating a lot.
He cannot decide between these two women.
I don't know if this is a conceit of the show,
if they always do this because they have to keep it
compelling, but it does seem like they're getting
to the point where these women are on the way
and Jesse the host is like, you gotta tell me
which one to send in first,
because it's gonna be pretty important.
And he's like, I don't know.
I honestly don't know.
And then there's a moment where he's having his one-on-one
with the camera and he stops for a minute.
Cause he's like, I just gotta think.
And you can hear a producer being like, we gotta go.
And so it sounds like he's not totally sure
in the next episode.
Now, hey Grant, remember, remember we said in the beginning
this is like the, this is the one decision you have to make.
All the others, we picked all the places,
we picked all the women,
we gave you breakfast to put on the bed in the morning,
but Grant, look at me.
This is the, you need to pick, buddy.
You gotta pick, big guy.
We even gave you the suits you were gonna wear.
We picked a whole color palette for you.
You were going to be in plum this whole episode.
And look how well that worked out for you, except in the Dominican Republic where you
definitely sweat through some shirts.
But yeah, he can't decide.
And I think that's already a fuck up.
I think no matter what happens after this, the fact that he's not saying there's clearly
a front runner means that even if he doesn't
mean it, it means that at some point one of these women will watch the show, whoever he
chooses.
Let's say he goes with Juliana, God willing.
He goes with Juliana.
Juliana will eventually see the whole show.
She'll see how he talked to the other women.
She'll see how earnest he seemed with all of them. And anytime there's a fight between them,
anytime that they're not getting along
or there's like a tough challenge in the marriage,
how could you not think that he's immediately wondering,
should I have done the other one?
Should I have gone with the other choice?
And if he is earnest about this, he can't choose,
he's gonna be thinking that every time that they like,
there's any sort of struggle or a hurdle for them,
he's gonna be like, fuck,
I wonder if it would have been like this with Platia.
Yeah.
And that feels pretty dangerous.
That feels like a bad way to start a relationship.
That's a dangerous thought.
That's, I think how different things would be
in my marriage if somewhere between engagement and wedding,
Shay at some point was like, man, I'm so happy.
And it was really close between you
and this other guy.
Yeah.
It was really touch and go for a while.
And there were some moments where I just wasn't sure
which one I was gonna pick.
I'd be like, are you fucking kidding me?
I was always sure.
What's going on here?
Yeah, what a terrible plan.
And already these people are,
I would say, pretty insecure.
The whole, you have to find somebody a little insecure
to go on the show.
Some of them, voice it.
Some of them know for sure.
Like, Juliana talks a lot about how she's been hurt
in the past and that she's been cheated on and stuff.
So the idea of him sleeping with another woman
and falling in love with other women at the same time,
she doesn't ever feel like she's been first choice.
So this, I don't even think, yeah, even if she is chosen,
I still think that she's gonna be wondering if she was
the rest of her life, presumably.
I'm a little worried about them,
these women that I've come to know.
I know, all your new friends.
Two hours a week, I've gotten to know them pretty well.
And I'm a little worried for both of them.
I think that they're both great people.
He does say that, I mean, Julianna is so fun.
Julianna is like a really fun person.
He has fun with her.
She seems authentic.
Latia, he talks about as being the person
that he imagined when he went on the show
that he might find.
So I think that she is somebody who,
she is just an empty vase that he is like
filling a lot of stuff into himself.
Where he's like, this is the, look at the,
that's the body, that's the person.
And now I'm just gonna throw all these other attributes
at her because that's what I want in a person.
And she hasn't proven that they're not there.
And so I think that he's battling there right now with somebody
that he found and somebody that he imagined he would be with, or the platonic ideal of wife.
I mean, he's young, so he doesn't know that that's what he's doing necessarily,
but it's a little scary, man. It's a little scary.
Yeah. She's wife-shaped. She's about wife height. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
He had like a, yeah, there was a silhouette in his mind.
And when all these women went through him and they got out of the limo, he was like,
next, next, next.
And then one fit the silhouette and he was like, this is the one.
Bad wife.
The last thing I want to say about the show is that as I was watching it and feeling very bad for them,
as he would ostensibly go cheat with other women, was that I think I would handle it differently than all of them. I don't know if anyone or guy has done this on the show, but all they talk about
is how worried they are about the fact that he's going to sleep with other women and how that doesn't
make them feel very good. And if you were the person who you knew that was going to happen, it was sanctioned by the show,
you know that it's going to happen no matter what, you just ignore all that. You don't be
honest about it. You say you don't talk about the other women if you don't want to, but you're like,
at the end, you're like, hey, this is a unique opportunity for you. You should really have some
fun. And you treat it that way.
And he gets to walk away from that with a clean conscience
because he's got to be feeling it too.
If somebody does that for you,
I think you're the only person he's thinking about
the rest of the episode.
He's like, whoa, that was incredible.
And I think that really locks you in.
Man, it would be hard to do.
But if you can just not be honest for a little bit
and just treat it like, I'm cool with this, I get it,
I get the whole situation, I'm gonna put my best foot
forward with you sexually, but also good for you, man.
This is gonna be great for you.
I think you should be really happy.
Have fun, just go for it.
It projects so much confidence.
It's insane to just be like, yeah, you wanna fuck those other two girls?
That's totally fine with me.
I'll go, you know what?
Have fun.
I'll go last.
Even that, I will go last, I promise you.
Or I'll go first, wherever you want me to go.
It's totally fine.
Wherever you'd like me to go.
I am not threatened.
Have fun.
Wherever you slot me in.
Yeah.
It's good, good with me.
And it's, I think that's a huge success because he's not expecting that at all. You
know what you're going to get from fantasy suites with the other women. You know that
it's not going to feel good for anybody. And if one woman is like, it's not about me, this
should be fun for you. This is the best part. Go have fun. I think you'd be like, oh shit,
that was cool.
I wonder what other stuff she'll be cool with if I marry her.
I guess that's true.
That's a...
You're really presenting something that is a bluff and being like, this is how I feel.
Honey, you'll never...
I just hope we never have to deal with this again.
Honey, you'll never guess.
I found another fun opportunity for me.
Remember how you were so cool about the last one opportunity?
That was for the show, Grant.
We do find out a little bit more about him at least.
We know that he does more than just basketball.
He also does finance, which is-
Ah, sucks.
Fun.
And we know a lot about his family.
I guess that's not true.
We know the same thing over and over about his family.
He grew up with his sister and his mother and his dad,
but his dad was dealing with addiction
his entire childhood.
So he saw some violence in the home.
He saw the way that a lot of lying
and now his dad is back in his life
and he feels very close to his dad.
But every single time that these women open up to him,
he comes back with that.
He's like, well, and now let me share something with you.
This is how I grew up.
So he's felt betrayed in the past.
That's why I think he connects with Juliana so much
because Juliana has been,
she sounds like she got really bad.
She's been through the wringer.
But anyway, she's been,
ever since Alice got thrown off the show,
who was obviously my favorite,
I've been like, all right, well, it's gotta be Juliana.
Juliana is like, she's a good person.
And now it's even gotten to the point where,
if it's not Juliana, I'm like,
maybe that's better for you, Juliana.
You are so fun and bubbly.
I bet you could be a bachelorette.
And isn't that how it works?
You find, isn't it also a casting moment?
Yeah.
I don't know why I'm asking you a question.
I don't watch the show, clearly.
But there is still one more left to find out.
He's got to pick between Latia and Juliana.
Yes, he has to pick between these two women.
And he's got to pick between what will essentially be,
I say ostensibly a lot,
what will definitely be a Mormon life going forward.
He wants, she wants to be Mormon,
she wants to raise her children Mormon.
And so he's gonna have to make her,
he's gonna have to learn what Mormonism is first of all.
He's gonna have to figure that out.
And then he's gonna,
and I don't know that she even drinks much or drinks at all.
She's a serious Mormon.
I don't think so.
I'm trying to think like-
Or Giuliana.
Giuliana is fun.
Giuliana is actually from, her family's originally from New Jersey.
And she, I don't know if she still lives there, but yeah, that's where her family's from.
And she's just been so cool.
She's been so cool the whole time and so up and game for everything
that I'm like, just pick that one.
Do the one that you like,
not the one that you thought you would be with.
Okay, we do have Mormons in New Jersey.
I didn't think we did.
Yeah, I think they're everywhere, man.
I mean, they're everywhere,
but I'm just trying to like,
because their places of worship are so distinct,
and I don't recall ever seeing one.
Oh, right. Yeah, so Mormon temples...
I don't know what...
Under the banner of heaven is why I know all this.
Mormon temples are beautiful.
There's some of those beautiful structures in any city,
and it's because they're built with the intention
that anyone looks at that and thinks, yes, God lives there. Like that's God's house and it
should present as God's house.
Right. I'm seeing an article from October, 2024. NJ is getting its first Mormon temple.
Congratulations.
So that's perhaps why I haven't seen one before.
It's because we have not had one.
Okay.
So yeah, you can find some Mormon friends here, Latia and Grant.
You can learn what Mormonism is and then move to Union County.
I stayed near the Newark airport when I was coming to your wedding because we had a night
to kill and we weren't ready to stay in the really nice hotel yet.
And I can say that that area is right next to a prison.
It's pretty dark.
Yes, Newark is rough stuff.
Okay.
Well, that's the show.
I hope that you enjoy it, Daniel, as much as I've hated it.
I enjoy it.
It confirms what I've already known about these reality shows, which is that they are
the most watchable things ever.
They're just addictive and you need one thing to get you in.
For you, it was Alex.
I'm very curious if you continue watching.
Because years ago, on a family vacation,
I was in high school or college.
And we were all in a house in Wildwood, New Jersey,
on the beach.
And it was raining.
And my sister-in-law, Marnie, just put on Project Runaway, because we're all stuck in the house, and it was raining and my sister-in-law Marnie just put on Project Runaway because we're
all stuck in the house and it's raining and that's I'd watched almost no reality shows.
I didn't know squat about fashion or modeling or clothing design. She put this show on and I watched
not just that season because we were watching it together in this house on vacation for like the
next six years I would say I watched Project Runway until Heidi Klum left because it was just like,
you know, one thing gets you in the door and then these shows are just so well oiled, they're so
well produced, they know how to get eyes on screen and they just get you. And I just like, I need something like,
it went from Bravo to another network
or Heidi Klum left and like, oh, thank God.
Maybe now I can be free.
Now I can have this part of my life back
and I don't have to have regular
Project Runway viewing parties.
I can see what other shows exist.
I am very excited to be free of this.
It's like finishing a big book that I had to carry around.
I don't want to be with these people anymore. I'm ready to be done. I see what you're saying.
I mean, the fact that I can watch a two-hour show and stay compelled the entire time is a real credit
and a testament to what the producers are doing to make the show seem interesting. Conversations between people,
just talking heads over and over again,
seem very interesting.
Like, I'm ready to be done.
I don't like the show.
I watched the circle, the very first season of circle.
And I was like, ah, I guess I do like reality TV.
And then I watched anything else.
I watched Survivor or The Challenge.
And I was like, no, I don't.
I don't actually enjoy any of this.
Yeah, but it's sad that Alex is there.
We got to see her again, which was really nice.
She got a chance in the Tell All episode.
They were like, what happened?
Jesse was like, you looked like you were the one.
And she was like, that's so funny you say that.
I thought so too.
But we don't get a real moment where she can ask Grant,
hey, what the fuck?
I thought it was going really, really well.
You never had a bad thing to say about me.
We never get that.
I think that would be a fun component
to add to every season for right before the season finale
for the Bachelorette of one by one,
even if it's just like, it's purely superficial,
you're not my type, move on.
He should have to go to each person and say,
here is why.
Here's why I didn't choose you.
Yeah, yeah.
And it can be like some bullshit little thing that we saw
or yeah, he can absolutely say, you're just not my type.
But just he should be able to, yeah,
you should be able to get some closure
for every single woman who doesn't make it
because some of them feel very blindsided
and the audience does too.
The audience is like, what?
Why?
And you don't know if this was like a jury selection
by producers, if they're like, look, we get two,
you get two.
And we need to keep these women on the show.
That could just be like a parade of cruelty.
If it's just like, yeah, we just didn't feel feel a spark next. Yeah, I was looking for a connection and it just didn't didn't happen for me next
It's your neck
Next your dick is working smile when you drink it does a weird thing
Don't like it you have really old eyes, but I had a great time with you
You have really old eyes, but I had a great time with you in your hometown.
You've got a dead tooth.
I think you should get that looked at.
You must not know because you would have done something
with it by now.
All right, well, that's going to do it for our show.
Thank you, Daniel, for letting me do this
and for listening to me.
Of course. And thank you, Daniel, for letting me do this and for listening to me. Of course.
And thank you everyone at home for,
if this is not your favorite part of the show,
man, thank you for bearing with it.
Yeah.
This has been quick question with Sorin and Daniel.
You know that, or maybe you don't.
We didn't ask a single question this time.
If you wanna find more episodes of this show
where we talk about other stuff and like,
sometimes we do shorter episodes,
we get a little bit more in the weeds.
That's in our sister podcast, which we're calling,
I don't know, after dark, I guess.
It's every other week, we do it through Patreon.
If you subscribe through Patreon, you get those episodes
or you can get it through Apple podcast subscriptions.
If you liked our theme song, that's by Merex.
You can find their music anywhere you listen to music.
They have full albums at merex.bandcamp.com.
We are held together, our sound engineer, editor, producer,
Gabe Harder does it all for us.
And oh, if you like this,
if you listen to this only and you want video,
we do a YouTube version of this.
You can see Daniel and I today.
Daniel actually came in more hairy than me,
but I look like I slapped on a hat and a sweatshirt
and came down to this podcast.
See, I came in more hairy than you?
Hairy.
Oh, I see.
Poor Daniel's still dealing with house stuff,
which we didn't get to talk about today.
No.
But we will.
Thank you, bye.
Bye.
I've got a quick, quick question for you, all right.
I wanna hear your thoughts,
wanna know what's on your mind.
I've got a quick, quick question for you, all right.
The answer's not important,
I'm just glad that we could talk tonight.
So what's your favorite?
How did you get?
When will I be your number?
Words without words are all that you've got
Do we know?
Oh forget it
I saw a movie, Daniel O'Brien

I think you'll have a great time here.
