Starting point is 00:00:00 I have nothing to add to that. Is everybody ready to do a podcast just now? I'm ready to podcast at the drop of a hat. I feel that mic coming around the corner. There's actually a theme song that's going to play. Is it the theme from Heat? Yeah, it is. That's our theme song.
Starting point is 00:00:14 We lose a lot of money when I play. It's a different theme song every time. I just don't know. But it's always Tangerine Dream. Matty, what do you want me to say you're from? Your podcast? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Which is No Gods, No Mares. No Gods, No Mares. You have no idea how many intros I ruined. I have two podcasts. I have No Gods, No Mares and one called Temporal Culture War. Okay. Which is a Star Trek show that I do
Starting point is 00:00:42 about the show Star Trek Enterprise and how horrible it is. Oh, watch me nail both of these. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I have a, I mean, which things, I have like 85 things to plug at any moment in my life.
Starting point is 00:00:53 If I mentioned one of them with your name at the start. No Gods, No Mares is fine. and I can plug things at the end. Last week, I got the guy's name wrong. Yeah, we had Joe Quazawa on, and Alex pronounced it too Polish, and he was a little frustrated.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Yeah, how would you say my last name if you're you? Lubchansky. Nailed it in one. Right off the boat. Okay, we're recording all the things? Yeah, it's all going. So my great-grandfather Abraham would say it. Good.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Cut it. Print it. I'm hitting the song. Please dance. and you know for the sound of that robot you're back at the quarators podcast america's premier quora based podcast hello how's it going hello i am well and you i'm also good greeting over The show has begun now. We have a hell of a show for you this week.
Starting point is 00:01:58 First business is first. Warrior's Weather Report. Pretty much summer. It's like the summer, but it's April. We've eliminated the concept of 65 degrees the last two years. It's like 50, and then it's like 80. And I would love to have something in the middle. No, no.
Starting point is 00:02:17 It was inefficient. You're either up or you're down. I don't like it. And when it's up, you do wish it would be 50 again for like a day. And then you're like, no, turn it off. Oh, I don't want that anymore. Well, who is that telltale voice right here? Just on the other side of the river there.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Well, we have a very special guest for you today here on the podcast. Stop this, Alex. You could do this. Wow. You could do this. Come on, push through. You got it. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Let's go. Who's behind door number two? You're not going to believe it. All the way from the No Gods, No Mayors podcast, we have illustrator and podcaster extraordinaire Matty Lubchansky on the show today. Matty, hello. Hello. I'm very glad to be on.
Starting point is 00:03:02 I came all the way here from the furthest anyone could possibly be. The next county over. There was an incredible journey that took place just off screen, just behind the velvet curtain of the show. I rode the G train for an entire 12 stops. And this, according to many Brooklyn residents from other parts of the country who live here now, is the most harrowing thing a person can do. Well, you've done the important step of unlocking bus travel in New York City, which really opens up the map. Yeah, so what's really cool about the bus in New York City is that you can fucking get on it and it takes you a lot of places.
Starting point is 00:03:37 It's like when you have the third map expand in Elden Ring. Oh, right. Where you're just like, oh, I can go anywhere. I can actually fast travel. Yeah. and they are driving at top speeds they're going 60 in a 35 every time it's awesome and then you will just completely stop entirely for 10 minutes in a row while you're stuck behind one sideways car i was on a bus yeah i was on a bus to reese beach once like the just the public city bus going
Starting point is 00:04:04 to the beach here in new york and the bus going over like that weird little there's like this one service road that's like a very sharp little hill the bus got air oh and i'm not kidding i left my seat it was tremendous everyone like screamed like we were all gonna die hurt my butt not to get too stuck on bus talk but i did bring my baby on a bus for the first time this weekend and there was a moment where i was like oh none of us are strapped into nothing huh i think some real bus baby vibes from this yeah uh coffee is for closers on the bus nice dude thank you um well the theme for this week is politics. Big city politics
Starting point is 00:04:46 around the world. You have a sound for that? Yeah, I got a sound for that. Killing spree. That's pretty good. That is a killing spree. It's politics. Uh-huh, honey.
Starting point is 00:04:56 That's why it's the best. Do you have sound effects on your podcast? No. So what we do is we have our beautiful producer, Sam, who lives in Europe somewhere. Holland.
Starting point is 00:05:10 No, I think he is Armenian himself. but he lives elsewhere. But what we do in our show is we say, Sam, can we get some whatever music? And then I go listen to it a week later and he's done it again. Wow. Every so often I will record,
Starting point is 00:05:24 I'll have a dumb idea for a musical stinger and I will go play it on a synthesizer. It's a pretty good system, but I just doubt it has the efficiency of having 40 sounds that are unlabeled on a board. You try to remember where they are, but the colors repeat. And then slam it around
Starting point is 00:05:41 until you find the one you were originally trying to click. I'm watching, yeah, like if you're only listening to this, I am watching you sort of operate what appears to be a very complicated Simon Says. Yeah. Who's that Pokemon? Who's that Pokemon? Great guess.
Starting point is 00:06:00 It's the Roadcaster. Okay, we should go on Quora.com. Have you been on Quora before, Matty? By accident, many times. Every time I've Googled something and it comes up, I'm like, I'm not going to get the answer I want or need, but I will click on it because I have
Starting point is 00:06:16 a curious mind. They should take more ownership of how many people are there by accident. Yeah. Because they act like you're there on purpose. Few are there on purpose. It's sort of an all roads lead to Quora situation. It could be like a fun random spot on the internet like what StumbleUpon used to be.
Starting point is 00:06:33 It's just Google StumbleUpon. If you Google any question, you end up on Quora. But you're sick first. That's the you're very ill and you're desperate stumble upon again stumble upon a website where you just go to it
Starting point is 00:06:44 and then it's a random it sends you somewhere there used to be more than four websites upon things so you'd press a button and it would be like
Starting point is 00:06:52 here's a website at some point there was like a landing page where it was like here's a bunch of random shit and you used to be able to go submit your site to it
Starting point is 00:06:59 back when I worked for a comics publication called The Nib for like 10 years I was their social media person despite being completely unqualified for it and one of the things
Starting point is 00:07:08 was like every morning like submitting our shit to StumbleUpon. That's insane. Please StumbleUpon. Please. We worked so hard. If people could stumble upon us.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I didn't know you had to submit something. That's very funny. You could roll yourself up like the carpet man and be like, please step on me. Stumble onto me.
Starting point is 00:07:25 You guys know about the carpet man? Yes, that's a guy just like in Manhattan, right? Who hides the carpets. He goes to like a lot of like, you know this? I'm familiar with the concept.
Starting point is 00:07:33 I didn't know there was a character. There is a guy in New York City and he's at a lot of like beer dance parties and he'll go to like sex parties. I'm like, be like, no one notices this carpet in the corner
Starting point is 00:07:44 because he's rolled up in it. So it's a sexual angle to being in a car. It is a sexual carpet, man. It's cheeky, it's sexual. We love it. It's not like a, I don't know, a furniture king's punishment. No, no, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:58 He's been taken over by the furniture peasants and they rolled him up into a carpet. Wrap him up! the world's easiest to escape old boy. Yeah. Oh, man. Mid-tard being the furniture jester. Find your tongue or you'll find yourself trampled.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Joke's on you. He's getting off. All right. Space of the Week. Yes. We like to start the show by going on a different space on the website. It's kind of like a subreddit. This is Space of the Week.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Space of the Week. That's good. Okay. This face says, what would the police do? And this is... Police! Well placed. Police procedures and interactions with them.
Starting point is 00:08:45 That really covers a lot of interactions, doesn't it, Jeremy? Yeah, it does. This is 21,000 followers, which is pretty big for Quora. Is there a specific thing you wanted to look at on here, Alex? I wanted to look at interactions with the police. Oh, okay. Fair enough. And their procedures.
Starting point is 00:09:00 If possible, if we have time. I feel like there's a lot of police officers on Quora in general. Well, they have phones and a lot of time. Yeah, they are kind of just hanging out on Quora in the subway. I was going to say they're pulling people over and be like, what do I do if someone's got this license plate? Yeah, but if they were paying attention for five seconds, they could be catching a lot of criminals.
Starting point is 00:09:19 They really are. They'd rather talk about how Hillary sucks. There is a space for that. The other day I went in the subway and it was pretty late at night and I was going through like the little lobby vestibule area of the subway and they were like I shit you not like nine police officers there which is even a lot
Starting point is 00:09:37 for currently a murder and they were all there was nothing going on they were all arguing loudly with each other like screaming and I you know as I got like a far enough away they could not see me but was within earshot I was like shoot him
Starting point is 00:09:52 see what happens that is a kind of any social interaction you have with your police co-workers does have the underlying threat of, like, and we're all armed. I've never had a job like that before. Has a cop, an on-duty cop, ever shot another on-duty
Starting point is 00:10:09 cop before? Almost. Almost certainly. Probably every day. You don't hear about it a lot. On purpose, on purpose. Well, they have the wording down where it's like a bullet was received by the active officer in a buddy situation. It's very sexual.
Starting point is 00:10:26 A bullet involved wounding. They call that a spit roast They don't call it a spit roast She made that up We got a spit roast on our hands We got a spit roast over at the office I do want to say Because I spent a lot of time
Starting point is 00:10:43 Lambasting The Quora website on this show Going on Quora on your phone Is a nightmare I'm on the phone all the time I used to take screenshots all the time watch are you if you tried it on the watch you just got this yesterday i checked my steps and then i go to quora from the watch most we should record this whole podcast on the watch actually
Starting point is 00:11:05 alex got this apple watch yesterday and was texting me so excited like guess where i'm texting you you're texting from the watch well i spelled maddie's name wrong he said that's not how you spell it i said i'm texting on my watch actually he said i'm on my phone and then you said hold on i bet watch i mean it's kind of it is just a phone that you've strapped to your wrist It is not that different from the phone. It's just another phone. You've got a miniature, smaller phone. Well, then I could have two phones.
Starting point is 00:11:31 Phone just means computer now. Phone just means computer. These are days. I know. I got a phone on each hand. I just want a regular damned coffee. Honestly? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Well, here's the thing is I found out I could write it off because I'd time people for two minutes all day long at my other job. But that's neither here nor there. Sorry, I interrupted you. You're on your phone. You say it's bad. Yes. Well, and that's how all of the police are on Quora, is they're going through the app.
Starting point is 00:11:58 You'll regularly use the search bar, and it will tell you nothing exists on the entire website. Yeah, that's true. And you're like, that can't be true for anything. Dreaming of a better world. Yeah. It's like politics of the possible. It's like, there's actually nothing here. Wouldn't that be so nice?
Starting point is 00:12:14 If they had a message that popped up that was like, you know what, just get off our website, I would understand it more. I feel like I've been Goodwill hunting where I'm like, every day I wake up and hope Quora doesn't exist anymore. Well, let's scroll around and see what questions are on this page. I'm really sorry. Just really quick at the top there. There's this guy, the first post. There's like a little self bio under it.
Starting point is 00:12:34 And it just says, I help victims of crime obtain justice. That's what you want on this space. Now, Matty, would you be surprised to learn that this is an answer hidden behind Quora Plus? But don't worry. And that we're paying for Quora. We're paying for it now. so that we can read this Quora Plus content.
Starting point is 00:12:51 We have Commander Adé Hill is writing in from England and Wales. English body. How is he writing from England and Wales? Wait a second. He's on patrol. He's straddling the borderline. This is an English police officer
Starting point is 00:13:08 oppressing Welsh people. So yeah, the question is, can the police use evidence against you if they find something during a search warrant not related to the warrant like drugs? and he says yes. They certainly can, my dear. I just like this bio.
Starting point is 00:13:21 These are people writing questions who have clearly never been arrested in America. I worked for the king, is his other bio. That's a really good bio. That's a great bio. A lot of people on this website are retired police officers who are now writing memoirs.
Starting point is 00:13:34 I'll have you know I was the king's carpet man. And his credentials, it says he was the police advanced driver, which is a great tongue-in-cheek way to describe a senior citizen driving. He also is in the space Quora-ing in the toilet. What it says. Quora-ing in the toilet.
Starting point is 00:13:51 What it says. The Quora ring, it's like the Apple Watch, but it's a ring, and it just goes like Quora. He really is in there. He's saying he's turning 50, and he's sad about it eight years ago. You look great. So he says, should I change the picture of me to a picture of real me eight years ago? I think he did do that. Good for you.
Starting point is 00:14:10 Good for you, Abby Hill. I like knowing what you look like. I do like knowing what they look like. I like seeing a face to the question. Drink it in. Driver for the king. I'm going to go to the questions on here. Can the police use evidence against you?
Starting point is 00:14:27 Most of these are just like, what can the police do to me? What are some real life stories of police officers confronting the most shocking and unimaginable criminals? And there's an emoji of a ninja. A ninja. Well, that's one of the most unimaginable criminals. It would be quite shocking. What would you do?
Starting point is 00:14:42 To encounter like a ninja, like in the traditional ninja costume, doing something illegal. How might one be apprehended even? At great expense. I would watch a movie where a police officer tries to catch one ninja. Ninja police. There's another great Glorieters Films idea, ninja police. This answer is sad, but I'm confused by the phrase, a stinking pimp. Oh, because it's an unimaginable criminal.
Starting point is 00:15:11 as if this pimp was working a young girl. It's the stinkiest thing you could do. Do you think he literally was smelly or do you think that they just mean it as like... Yeah, you smell him before you see him. Like a gosh darn pimp. Yeah, just think you're like a young girl. Your life is already so hard
Starting point is 00:15:28 and you got this stinky pimp over your shoulder all day clogging up your nose. That's from Fred Schloss. He's a police officer from Las Vegas who knows about witch doctors. That's a tough beat. Whoa. I really would like to know what he knows about witch doctoring.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Okay, witch doctor is another space. It does only have three contributors, but I am interested enough. He is one of them. He's a police officer who knows about witches. I don't see anything about witches, though. It seems like, here you go. How do I use magic to stay sane as a witch? Magic with a K.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Yes, of course. Please, that implies that it's real. Yeah. I believe. Magic CK. That's right. My least favorite comedian. You got to watch his hands.
Starting point is 00:16:10 uh this is i don't know which doctor space is a little uh bear yeah this is one woman's blog yeah it's kind of a blog i'm into the concept of it yeah they gotta they gotta thread that out throw it out i've gotten too far i've strayed too far from what would the police do this is big city politics if you want to get something done in the city you gotta go through the police What happened to Kobanermani456? Great question. No answers on that. He fell off.
Starting point is 00:16:40 No answers yet. I don't know what Kobanermani456 is, but I assume it was. The question was from Chris, who knows English. We're really straight so far. You don't have to click on all of these things. We got to reign it in. I was trying, but now the website's not even working. I have control today.
Starting point is 00:17:00 All right, well, let's go to our real questions. Okay. Oh, with the police, too. They just hang around. We got some philosophical questions here for you on Quilosophy. There are philosophy questions on Quora, which is kind of all questions on Quora, by the way. I hear that, big man. Do you agree that people with extroverted personalities should be banned from any type of leadership position because they are annoying and talk more than they think?
Starting point is 00:17:31 Yep. That's my answer. Original questions are so rare. This is like some real, like, as an introvert kind of shit. It's like, as an introvert, as someone who likes to go to bed early, am I being oppressed? The answer is, of course, yes, you are, by me. I like to recharge by a movie night. Also, should we kill all of the extroverts?
Starting point is 00:17:57 They should put those questions into the debates, though. Like, you know, how many people do you talk to at a party? Things like that. Are you an int J? Keeping extroverts from politics would be so hard. They're the only ones in them. Yeah, that's the whole thing. They're the only ones who want to do it.
Starting point is 00:18:10 But I guess this is the thing is you need to like the reluctant king. Yeah, it's that stupid thing that's like the only people who should want to seek power are the ones that shouldn't do it. Yeah, yeah. The other thing I just said very clearly. Who's that great emperor who toiled his fields? Like Philadelphius or something. What? Philadelphius?
Starting point is 00:18:31 well philadelphia's was a guy yeah so he toiled his fear he toiled fields i think i think you mean the word tilled yeah he tilled fields too get a lot of stuff with fields this guy would not leave his fields this man was in fields it might have it might have been philadelphia there was there was a roman emperor who was doing that shit it was like working on a farm philadelphia's a roman name philadelphia's i don't Yeah, it's crazy how many American cities are named by crazy how many. I can think of two, which is Philadelphia and Cincinnati. Oh, I didn't know that either.
Starting point is 00:19:06 I think that's the one, even. What the fuck? It might have been Cincinnati. Yeah, this whole thing, the swords, the plowshares, man. I've been meaning to tell Jeremy about Cincinnati for some time. I know every town. It's just so convenient we've got there. Every town in New York is Greek.
Starting point is 00:19:18 I know that, but I didn't know about Philadelphia. Every town in New York is Greek. Pretty much every upstate New York city. Is that true? There's like Syracuse, there's Detroit, there's Albany. Well, there's also like, there's a Rotterdam, New York upstate. Sure, yeah. You don't mean like ethnically.
Starting point is 00:19:32 No, no, I didn't mean ethnically. No. They're like, yeah. Greeks all over New York. God. What happened to America? No, I guess the trope I am evoking here is the reluctant leader who's thrust into the position and then carries it with great stoicism because they're genuinely not interested.
Starting point is 00:19:53 They just want to be in their damn field all day. Toiling. and toiling, which they're used to, but instead they have to sign laws and decrees and so forth. Right, right, right. But that's very rare. That's why it's so much fun when it happens. Jimmy Carter.
Starting point is 00:20:08 I'm trying to think of who has a farm. George W. Bush, that great president. Yeah, he just wanted to paint. He did not want to paint. He wanted to, he was always like cutting brush. He was always clearing brush. Every time they're like, hey, George W. Bush, why are you killing a million people?
Starting point is 00:20:24 And he's like, hold on. I have to go put on jeans and a cowboy hat and big, big gloves. I've got fields to toil. With a controlled flame, you can actually clear more brush than with your hand. But do the voice. Now he uses the brush to
Starting point is 00:20:40 paint beautiful pictures of the fallen fellas. To me, I think kind of exonerate everything he did. He did the first ever reverse Hitler. We went from killing all those people and then painting. That's so interesting, Jeremy.
Starting point is 00:20:55 They literally never considered it. I think that should be a question we ask. Don't you think it's interesting that George Bush actually did a reverse Hitler? A great core style question where you just have an idea and you want to brag about it. Yeah. See if there's any answers on this because it is going to polarize the electorate. Extroverts are so annoying. But, you know, this kind of gets me thinking that, like, I feel like every extroverted politician should have a sort of, like, shy Smithers type that they could, like, tap out and, like, tap in or just have someone whispering.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I don't know, just to balance it out. Sometimes too much charisma, you get too wet and you can't listen. I agree, Claire. I think that yin and yang, you kind of need both cool archetypes involved in the leadership process. If you want to represent shy people and outgoing people, I guess. Right. Yeah, exactly. We have some answers from E.M.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Read it. Who says leadership positions are inherently authoritarian. Extroverts are more likely to seek the spotlight and more likely to lie, but the problem is outmoded influence regardless. Extroverts are more likely to lie is a crazy thing to say. Because they're more likely to talk. Yeah, well, that's true. But also considering like every person who's like,
Starting point is 00:22:28 I'm an introvert is constantly making shit up to not go to things. What are you talking about? They love scheming. Can we say it? They're people who scheme. Well, you know, who's more likely to like a start a war is an extrovert. because they're like, I want to hang out. They want to show you all their soul.
Starting point is 00:22:43 You're just more likely to start a civil war. Oh, you're right. But then you got your Dick Cheneys. You got your Dick Cheneys who are doing all the dirty work in the back, all quiet and shy, like shooting their friends. You think he's an introvert, Claire? He was George W. Bush's introvert. That's what she said.
Starting point is 00:22:59 He was George W. Bush's introvert. The vice president should always be an introvert. I just want oil. I just want to focus on weapons manufacturing. kumar pothos's leadership is not about being extrovert or introvert or ambivert which we have not discussed i don't know what that is i guess it's both uh every person on earth yeah you're describing i'm kind of an ambivert yeah i'm kind of sometimes i like doing stuff and sometimes i don't you can say i'm kind of an ambivert a term that is real you could say i go
Starting point is 00:23:33 both ways in terms of being loud and extra uh anyway it all about the qualities one possessed to be a leader hari om thank you happy living with a smiley face in between happy and living this is the most like for kamar this is the most like uncle text of all time this is like your uncle or aunt emailing you like happy living it doesn't matter what's important is that we're all together as a family just get out there and lead society yeah uh shiom says are you referring to trump which i was not an angle i was considering he is a mentally deranged extrovert okay he is an extrovert he has committed a lot of sins war violence and hatred he's he's he's committed hatred protests and sins and will be punished by god all right and he will be punished
Starting point is 00:24:29 by god i actually forgot for a moment that there's a freaking cheeto in the white house i'm so glad that i was reminded he's a damned extrovert yeah sometimes i go check my bag but there's none in there because they're all in the white house he actually gained energy from talking to people he does though he actually does because that's also where he gets all of his ideas it's just like every time he ever speaks it's like i'm actually very curious who the last person you spoke to was because that's all you're saying is just the last thing someone said to you it's a man who benefits from a cipher yes you just get in the group chat with them and you all set each other off yeah as as someone who's like sort of like descended the same sort of like
Starting point is 00:25:09 outer borough dipshit milieu uh i feel very strong and i know a lot of i personally know a lot of Donald Trumpian people in my life like family members I feel very strongly I could get him to say some really
Starting point is 00:25:22 wacky shit if he gave me 15 minutes alone with the man it's my most demented theory about myself it's that
Starting point is 00:25:28 and I can go on The View and get them to shut up for a moment and listen to me I believe both of those things I think I could do it we just need to give you the chance
Starting point is 00:25:34 I just need the chance I'm from Long Island I feel like I know one million Donald Trumps yeah of course yeah they're everywhere they're everywhere
Starting point is 00:25:41 bigly they really like good fellas like I don't know You can talk to him about stuff. Yeah, I love Goodfellas. It's a good movie. I call it a good movie.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Trump's favorite movie is Sunset Boulevard. That's like real. That's incredible. I think he has said that. He's watched After Hours. He would love it. Yeah, Sunset Boulevard is very funny because he is maybe the person on Earth
Starting point is 00:26:01 least prepared for a close-up. There was something going around recently, too, where he said he loves Citizen Kane, but he was like, it's a movie about a guy who got everything he wanted. That's right. i just love films with cool sleds i think i saw that on some website yeah i saw that also and then it was like i also the other day watched the devil's advocate okay and they use his
Starting point is 00:26:22 kicks fucking ass number one there's an incredible uh criterion channel collection right now it's like corporate thrillers and they're all good cool um but in that one i'm almost positive and don't tell me if i'm wrong but they use donald trump's for the apartment of like a rich piece of shit donald trump-esque guy and that they basically let they trump was like yeah no problem you could use it because he thought why you'd pick me yeah because you want an apartment that kicks so much ass right it looks like the devil lives here it's actually it's not the devil's house it's the it's the other guy right he's like they're the the guy that like keanu reeves is like this is too far for me that guy yes i was very high when i watched the film last year but i
Starting point is 00:27:01 remember a lot of uh images yeah that's what's important al Pacino does not as the devil does not live in an apartment he lives in a clock tower yes with no bed and he spends a lot of time on roofs you watched it yeah you gotta check it out you gotta check it out i do not remember what happened uh but to answer this question in the end we have to agree both kinds can be good so let's move on to our next question you don't want to read this answer from frankest castle who's like i guess a play on the punisher who says yes and they also shouldn't get to be friends with stephen king what oh yeah i don't know what that means am i missing some context is frank is a reference to like frankism like i think it's just frank castle isn't that the punisher it is the
Starting point is 00:27:41 punisher i like that says this needs improvement i don't see that i think it was perfect okay next question please okay sorry oh baby here's a question that's warrior oh i see what the fuck money down a rat hole question number seven why do idiots pay seven dollars so a loser with a nose ring like a pig can make them a coffee with fake syrup. I love coffee. I drink two pots a day. And U-Ban, is it U-Ban or Folgers?
Starting point is 00:28:10 I don't drink coffee. Does just fine if you make it nice and strong. This is by user D. Leary. That's just a money down a rat hole question, but this is a very interesting account who had a lot of different questions that I thought were worth covering. It feels rude to target people specifically by account,
Starting point is 00:28:33 but I will accept their questions as submissions. This guy's username is incredible. Sold my bakery and retired. Dream. That's the username. He's in the space why World War II was actually won by America. As opposed to what? Red Army.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Okay, okay. Which is the truth. Yeah, yeah, that's fair. Okay. I thought this guy was from an alternate timeline where Hitler won World War II, but he had a book about how that's not true. Let's read his bio.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Read it, Claire. Graduated from high school at age 17. That gave me a chance to join the Air Force to avoid the infantry in Vietnam. The Air Force promised me a career in technology. Where they actually sent me was to baking school and a nuclear air base in England. On the GI Bill, I got an English degree at UCLA. And I got a law degree, Juris Doctorate, from the law school. But realized I really, really hated paperwork.
Starting point is 00:29:26 got a california veterans low interest loan and started my own bakery in an abandoned warehouse in a ghetto in downtown los angeles guess what property values went up through the roof sold by bakery for 6.4 million in 2019 and retired they bulldozed my bakery the instant they bought it and put in condos wow what a bio the end okay i just gotta say 6.4 million pretty nice for a bakery sale respect to in an abandoned warehouse in a ghetto $7 by the way too much for coffee $6 million for my shitty
Starting point is 00:29:58 bakery in a ghetto come on isn't this a real guy at all do you think any of this is real this is the realest guy the realest guy I've ever seen this is like someone doing this happens all the time on No Gods
Starting point is 00:30:14 No Mayors where we'll be talking about a politician who's like this exact age and every one of them has this kind of Forrest Gump ass life where it's just like, oh yeah, I just fell ass backwards into so much money and success and got to go to college for free and fought in a war
Starting point is 00:30:30 and also I'm a horrible racist and I hate queer people so much. I was in the baking part of the army. I did my time. Uh oh, here we go. Do you think this guy heard about a part of the army called the Doughboys and got really,
Starting point is 00:30:48 really, really confused? His most recent question is about Kyle Rittenhouse and George Zimmerman, which I kind of forgot about. Is this George Zimmerman is now homeless, which kind of has a great
Starting point is 00:31:00 Greek tragedy element to it. Is that true, though? Is he actually homeless? I don't know. No, Kyle Rittenhouse is also a rich guy. What are you talking about? Is George Zimmerman not homeless?
Starting point is 00:31:10 Because I kind of like the Greek tragedy element to it, where he was hunting people on the street and then loses his home. Kyle Rittenhouse, the last thing I heard from him was he made a video game
Starting point is 00:31:19 about himself. That was really bad. Right. Game design is a lot harder than people give it credit for. Yeah, sorry, Kyle. I just want to point out that all of his questions seem to invoke the size of people's penises. I don't even want to talk to someone
Starting point is 00:31:32 because it made his penis feel big. Now he's pouted. And the next one, how come when a cop leaves, he will always have a need to show he has the biggest penis? Why do cops do that? Why do cops do that?
Starting point is 00:31:44 That's a great question. In city politics, this is something you're going to have to deal with. You can teach kids who ride the short bus not to step in front of cars. Why do ICE agents step in front of cars? Wait, he's a liberal? He's a dynamic figure.
Starting point is 00:31:59 I'm so confused. He contains multitudes. He's an ambivert is what he is. I'm California. Do you know the final reason after everything else why I really hate Trump? Gavin Newsom is the only person with name recognition as opposing Trump,
Starting point is 00:32:10 and Trump is going to make Gavin the next president. God help us. You have a great point there, sold my bakery and retired. this is the most like i'm politically homeless guy in the world like i hate donald trump but also the worst thing in the world is when someone giving me coffee as a nose ring millionaire bakery owner former bakery owner that's true not if you tried to get a baked good from him now you'd be out of luck i'm reading this one why are stupid people trying
Starting point is 00:32:40 to pretend that the ice agent thought he was in danger he was playing with his little phone in his hand if my wife asked me to check if there was a prowler outside i had my 38 special i wasn't taking selfies snaps to that girlfriend wow what are you talking about oh he's talking about dune everything trump too makes sense if you think of him as baron vladimir harkonnen yes the answer is yes friend i actually know this guy we actually i'm excited for one of donald trump's uh grandkids to kill him I guess in front of everybody I just got to the part
Starting point is 00:33:18 in Children of Dune where the Baron is like taking over Alia's brain and he's like can we have sex with young boys now like alright
Starting point is 00:33:26 okay Frank Herbert the Baron's back in Children of Dune spoiler alert he's back he's back Alia has the because Alia
Starting point is 00:33:33 was exposed to the water life in the womb she is the she is the memories of all human beings basically so that includes Baron Harkonnen
Starting point is 00:33:41 her grandfather okay So he sort of manifests as like a ghost in her brain. Yeah, he takes over her brain. Is it a forest ghost? She's Abomination. Yeah, she's... First thing you get to understand about Alia
Starting point is 00:33:52 is that she's Abomination. Can we talk about a book I have read like Liza Minnelli's newest memoir? Okay, see, this is why I'm on the show so we can talk about Liza Minnelli too. Liza Minnelli is also Abomination. Abomination. She has the old ancient pharaoh taken over her brain.
Starting point is 00:34:09 That's Yu-Gi-Oh. You're confusing Liza Minnelli and Yu-Gi-Oh. All the time, Jeremy. They have a lot in common. You know what? I'm going to redirect the podcast again. Go back to the city questions. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:34:24 There's a compromise between Liza Minnelli and Baron Harkov. I was in Mexico City recently, and they have all these stores there that are named after celebrities, but they're fake. And there's a store we kept seeing called Liz Minnelli's, which I really liked. That's pretty good. That's fun. Here's a question. Is life the most valuable thing? For example, in court, a criminal says of his tortured victim, quote, I didn't take the most valuable thing, life.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Say a person is in a car accident and has three hours, eight days to live. End of question. This is a good post because it leaves you wanting more. I do like being on trial for murder and having these cute turns of phrases for the judge like that. I think the answer is yes. Are they like gaming out, killing a person, and getting away with it? Or torturing a person? Your Honor, check their valuables, their life.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Checkmate, Your Honor. You just turned to leave the courtroom. I assume this will be fine. I think you'll find I merely cut off both of their hands. There are direct answers to this. I wonder if the question was changed. Heart Wings says, for some, yes, and for some, no. Which is a good answer to most questions on the website.
Starting point is 00:35:44 We can see if it was changed. I can go to the question log. Okay. Quora is a very good website. We can go to the question log and see if it was changed. This has not changed. Ah. This is what it was on Valentine's Day this year.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Amazing. It can be a lonely time from Eugene Anthony. This guy's from upstate New York. Ooh. Okay. Do we want to read some answers to the question? I'm not reading his whole extremely long. Oh, he's Ukrainian.
Starting point is 00:36:11 I'm an idiot. Leave Eugene alone. Don't listen to me. Heartwing says you were not convicted in court for what you didn't do, but rather what you did do. The lady across the street decided she liked smoking better than her life. A great husband and two kids.
Starting point is 00:36:23 My dad liked bourbon better than life. Again, leaving me wanting more. Yeah, Gabriel says it is more than valuable. It is all we truly possess. Without it, nothing happens and no movement occurs. Big up vote for you, Gabriel. That's true, actually. Upvoted.
Starting point is 00:36:41 I don't know. I would just say yes or no. Nobody thinks this is weird. Life is the most valuable thing. Eugene is responding to someone's answer here. Yes, with a long answer. Yes, but by driving the victim of many things, among other things, life becomes meaningless.
Starting point is 00:36:57 For example, kidnapping children from a parent leads to a meaninglessness of existence. Of course. But without everything else, would there be life? A criminal struck a pregnant woman in the stomach with unpredictable consequences. and you're going to tell me that without life everything else is impossible for example a kidnapper held a lot of examples of criminals a kidnapper held the victim for 20 years until
Starting point is 00:37:22 she escaped is that also a case with where without life everything else is a criminal just this guy he's confessing to something i think i think this is we're seeing like a mastermind's confession laid out all the things that he's done i do really picture like a hamburglar style criminal. We could look at what he looks like. Someone who defies the law. He just looks like a normal dude. He's wearing the domino mask, but who isn't? In their profile. Jeremy keeps pulling up
Starting point is 00:37:48 Eugene like he's going to take him down, but Eugene's too fucking real. His most recent question was, what do the film Titanic and B. Vassiliev's novel Not Listed have in common? And no one knows. No one knows. No one knows anything about it. I think you should tell us.
Starting point is 00:38:03 What should I do if everyone said this movie is for idiots? Four idiots, four idiots. But I liked it. They say it twice because they're so disgusted. Well, this guy, I think, is a criminal. I think you're right. He's doing crimes.
Starting point is 00:38:20 He's torturing someone. We found your quarrel. It's never as you think. No one can predict the future, says Sweet Christine. It's a great name. Uh-huh, honey. Next question. Okay, sorry.
Starting point is 00:38:33 We got some good stuff here. Yeah, we have a lot of questions. I should move on. So this is the quiz course. our politics question unlike the other ones which were philosophy questions what button do i hit for that yeah okay so this is politics this is what politics sounds like yeah this gets you thinking why are men in america legally allowed to have long hair great question alex thoughts on this i do feel targeted by this question it doesn't make me feel okay i wrote this one as a bald guy
Starting point is 00:39:04 it's gonna be hard to stop i think you know just you're gonna be enforcing state mandated haircuts if you have everybody so here's what you would do is if you have everybody in mandatory conscription already then you have like active control over them and you can make them cut their hair but like finding me and making me cut my hair like i go to uh work where i see like seven people and then i come here to podcast like who's gonna come cut my hair who knows my hair's too long right there's no social controls to do it that's why uh give the cops scissors it's easy you there especially you've already got this thing in like a little ponytail so it'd be very easy one snip i'm out of here right well i put it up there because i was so confident that
Starting point is 00:39:48 wouldn't happen but i might be different if i think they're gonna do that they should the the technology now where you get on airplanes and they take a photo of you they'll just have that in every building, and it'll check if your hair's too long. Okay. Yeah, I think AI would do it. Yeah, easy. I got good hair. Also, you have to go through the thing where you're naked. People like my hair. The police at the airport where they
Starting point is 00:40:09 scan you. Oh, the scanner? The thing where you're naked. The thing where you're naked. And then I go like this. Jeremy's always naked at the airport. Yeah. Because I'm trying to get through security fast. You don't have to take your shoes off if you're naked. He also hoops up. I call that thing the penis detector.
Starting point is 00:40:25 It is a penis detector. Because that's all it does. I wouldn't know. Penis spotted. Hey, yes. I like this person trying to have a funny answer because of the long hair act of 1972. You know, I read it and I was like, did I miss one?
Starting point is 00:40:43 This is like the sort of joke you would see on like a web forum in like 1997. Yeah. Pretty good. Like a joke of the day kind of forum where everyone's trying to write the funniest joke about a headline. Sort of like a wait, wait, don't tell me style.
Starting point is 00:40:57 joke yeah this is from miss angel smith we've followed phdsc we've seen this she's a uh a troll on this website liberal troll proud maggot impersonator hey question for everybody when you see someone line put the little lower lowercase t after manga when they're when they're getting mad at the manga people what the fuck is that is that are they trying to say maggot I think so. They're trying to say maggot. It's like drunk-esque. Fucking goddamn.
Starting point is 00:41:28 You know, your drill sergeant might call you a maggot. Sure. And that's, I guess, a valorous position. To be clear, she's a Republican pretending to be a liberal, right? Is that what it is? No, no, no. A liberal pretending to be a Republican. She's a maggot impersonator and Donald Trump's number one hater.
Starting point is 00:41:46 And she's got a cool AI portrait there. She's doing based lib posting, Jeremy. Oh, okay. She's on Quarrior's podcast. Okay. She lives in heaven because Donald Trump won. Okay. What is that?
Starting point is 00:41:57 Satire. Oh, this is a magnum. It's satire. You got me again. Twice in two seconds. It's opposite day on Mrs. Angel Smith's page. That's what the bio should say. Opposite day.
Starting point is 00:42:08 So you're not confused. Is war good for cryptocurrency? Yes. Easy. This is a fantastic war. It's just so brief and direct. The top answer here is I would say that revolution, financial crisis is better
Starting point is 00:42:21 because it is going against establishment but war may also cause gains people trying to move money and liquid easy to move currency hard to say i think revolution would be good for cryptocurrency full disclosure i was uh quiet for about 10 minutes because i was asking my financial advisor to uh give me some money from my stocks my stocks from your crypto stocks my crypto stuck no i don't i have normal style you gotta get some let's just say war is paying off i'm glad i started it yeah i don't know how uh cryptocurrency would be affected by a complete like devaluation of the dollar yeah i mean i think that is what we're gonna find out soon yeah i mean it will affect
Starting point is 00:43:14 city politics as well. Which is what the podcast is about. I feel like it's good for buying and selling arms. Oh, yeah, for sure. And you can get weed or whatever. You can get weed or whatever. The Silk Road. Have you guys sold any of your gold yet?
Starting point is 00:43:30 What's up? Have you guys sold any of your gold yet? Oh, no, it's buried in my backyard. Now's the time to buy the gold. I definitely have. I've sunk all my money into Iraqi dinars. What is this? It's on the come up. You don't know about the dinars? this really seemed like uh like a joke that was gonna kill this crowd
Starting point is 00:43:50 hey why don't we just this zip on many listeners will be like dying dying of my cool iraqi dinars i don't think i know what this is it was early in like trump one term it was like uh fucking were you alive 10 years ago um he's so young are you young i'm 19 years old I'm 32 and Alex is 35 and he thinks I'm a child I'm older than both of you significantly so during Trump won there was a thing where they were like
Starting point is 00:44:22 oh the Iraqi dinar has been completely devalued and it's like if you buy in now it's going to be worth like a bajillion dollars so all these like let's call them maggots were like sinking all their money into Iraqi dinars the currency of Iraq
Starting point is 00:44:38 I don't remember this but that's very funny the republic of Iraq and it never happened obviously it didn't have a big payoff everyone was just buying Iraqi currency for some reason
Starting point is 00:44:48 it was very bizarre like 2017 phenomenon it was pretty funny too many things have happened I feel like I probably knew better at the time but I feel like
Starting point is 00:44:56 there's been so many things that have happened with Trump well you should consider putting your money in it remember the pee tape people were obsessed with like I don't know
Starting point is 00:45:03 I remember the pee tape I need like a big short kind of movie about Dean Ars so I need A Margot Robbie hot woman to sort of explain what's happening. A beautiful woman just explained it to you.
Starting point is 00:45:17 I can't see her. You can't see the cameras facing away from me, sorry. I am in a bathtub, which is what you can't see. I can hear it, though. You're sloshing around. We made some changes to the guest chair. It's a tub now. It's the guest tub.
Starting point is 00:45:36 We started explaining stuff in there. Most guys are not into it. They don't like being in there. But it worked out for this one. I like this answer. Not the answer, but I like the guy's name is Mike Pipe. Mike Pipe. And he's an INTP.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Mike Pipe. So he should run for office. That's a top porn name. I'm just letting people know my opinion, which goes against the grain of conformists, mostly. Cool guy, I bet. I have opinions people don't like. I'm normal, people scare me This guy lives in Bath
Starting point is 00:46:14 What an incredible coincidence You're sitting in Bath Likely for a pipe to be in Bath Now that same-sex marriage is legal Is it okay to eat at Chick-fil-A again? I have not seen anyone make this argument What? I bet it did occur to a lot of people around the same time.
Starting point is 00:46:39 Is it okay? I really like their chicken. Well, because they were oppressing same-sex marriage. Right. But then they lost, so can you have the chicken now? They're still giving all the money to the causes. But they lost, though. Can I watch Harry Potter, please?
Starting point is 00:46:56 I don't think Chick-fil-A is even that good. No. It's not. It's fine. I think they've come up with better fast food chicken, I think, since this was a hot topic issue. That's true. Yeah, like the Popeye's chicken sandwich.
Starting point is 00:47:07 Is Popeye's probably also evil? Probably. Yeah, they're all evil. Because it's a big company. Yeah, I think if you're really into a fast food chicken sandwich, what you should try is going to get a chicken sandwich at anywhere. Yeah. Oh, sure, yeah. That's how I feel about that.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Check out food of any kind. Check out food. I knew this guy a long time ago who moved to New York, and he was telling me how he went to Subway for lunch every other day. And I was like, you know you get a sandwich, right? You live in Manhattan? yeah that's pretty bad but you can go to any we call them bodegas here uh but you can go to any fucking corner store get a sandwich that's about the same quality for half the price what are you talking about it's going on i would say better i'd say better than something better better subway
Starting point is 00:47:50 i've a lot of the ingredients feel like i'm eating like a landfill it's that has been repurposed oh yeah i had a friend in high school that worked at a subway and they would receive the food and like these horrible tubes yeah meanwhile i worked at the the chad quiznos in high school nice i was such a partisan for Quiznos. We used to get real meat and veggie deliveries every day. We had a walk-in fridge. We had a whole fucking thing. We were really making those sandwiches.
Starting point is 00:48:15 Were you an artist? We were not called sandwich artists, but I was a Quiznos sandwich maker. They were here on the front lines. I was a worker. I was on the front lines. That's when I started smoking because I got an extra
Starting point is 00:48:31 break every two hours if I smoked. So I began So I began smoking as like a 19-year-old. You're toasting your lungs. That's right. Big hit with Quiznos fans in the audience right now. Quiznos and others were toasting. They also had the best weird commercials.
Starting point is 00:48:47 I know they had the singing little sock guy. It's the hamsters. The singing hamster socks. It's the We Love the Moon YouTube guys. It's awesome. And they made the We Love the Subs. All of 2007 was great. Meanwhile, Subway had the pedophile.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Subway had the pedophile. Yeah, he was famous. His pants were too big. Yeah, that's right. The dinar was through the roof. Everything was good. Obviously, this must have been covered somewhere, but was there ever an occasion where Jared from Subway
Starting point is 00:49:18 was caught with his pants off and was like, they're just too big. I can't keep them on. To commit a sex crime and the police show up and he's like, my pants fell down because they're too big. Officer, I've had an amazing transformation. and all the cops are laughing
Starting point is 00:49:33 he's like it's from the commercial that happened yes yeah that did happen okay I'm just checking it was in the news yeah it was actually a really big story
Starting point is 00:49:42 it was not funny it was sad are there any good answers on this I'm going into the ones that need improvement here those seem like the worst answers
Starting point is 00:49:50 Keith Howard has written a manifesto about this the only reason one would not be okay with eating a Chick-fil-A is perhaps if you were vegan, vegetarian
Starting point is 00:49:58 had dietary restrictions or was mentally ill Flawless victory. Chick-fil-A's food is the best fact. What if some of their founders believe in a more traditional sense of the word marriage? Do their beliefs affect the quality or taste of their food? No. And if you think it does, then you might have a weak mind.
Starting point is 00:50:18 It's influenced by your own belief system and intolerance. He's not fucking around at all. He loves his chicken. Keith has worked at four different Chick-fil-A locations across the U.S. Okay, this guy actually does. Those guys are rambling across the country going Chick-fil-A to Chick-fil-A to work at them. This is a lifelong soldier for Chick-fil-A.
Starting point is 00:50:40 It's funny to me that this is a 10-year-old question. I don't think I realize how old it is, but that makes sense. It was more relevant at the time. It was funnier to remember it now. Yes. This guy says no because they put pickle on their sandwich.
Starting point is 00:50:51 Oh, I like pickles on the sandwich. That's actually a credit to them. It's also the secret for how the chicken is moist is they marinate it in pickle bran. So they have to. Which is a thing you can just do at fucking home, by the way. Right, sure. Well, you can do anything at home, I guess.
Starting point is 00:51:05 You can do literally anything at home. If you believe in yourself. I'm having gay sex at home, yeah. It's a bunch to Keith Edwards' chagrin. It's allowed now. It's allowed now. I'd like to see you do that at Chick-fil-A. So originally the question was, hold on.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Originally the question was gay marriage. Yeah. And then someone changed it to same-sex marriage. and then it was changed to gay marriage again and then changed to same-sex again and then gay again. So Sarah Madden has been fighting with the Quora content review.
Starting point is 00:51:39 There is a war going on for your mind. And this guy changed it to capitalized F. I don't understand how random people can change. It's like Wikipedia. Anybody with an edit can go in and make their voice known. Now she's fighting with this guy over the spelling of Chick-fil-A.
Starting point is 00:51:55 All right, this is not interesting. Move on. It is interesting. No, what's interesting about that is it was happening on December 26th, 2018, which is the day after Christmas for like a four-year-old question. I should be with my family right now, didn't you know? I'm debating how to spell Chick-fil-A in a question that is several years old. So this is a very interesting hodgepodge kind of question. The question itself is not like a, I don't know, a dynamite phrasing or anything, but the answer is very instructive.
Starting point is 00:52:23 And the question is, what should I absolutely not do when visiting the USA? We have an answer from Linda Collins, who appears to be dressed up as some kind of ninja or assassin. Oh, should I click on that and see? Yes. She has a leaf. She's hidden behind a leaf. She's actually someone with bangs and is behind a leaf. She's in the Hidden Leaf Village.
Starting point is 00:52:40 Actually, yeah. And she's a freelance writer. Okay, here's what you shouldn't do in America. Okay, great. One, big picture of a cop pointing a rifle at a guy's face. Don't get out of your car without permission if you are being chased by the police. Always sit in your seat, put your hands on the steering wheel, and wait patiently. I don't know anything about guns, but to me, that looks like a sniper rifle.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Yeah, it really does. Right in his face. This guy's about to get really killed. He should not have been speeding or whatever he was doing. Number two, don't say 13, Friday, or three. Because Americans believe those numbers and dates are symbols of bad luck and disaster. That's true. Do we feel that way?
Starting point is 00:53:21 About the number three? Yeah, three is good. Don't say the word Friday to anybody. That's why we just say F-T-G-I-F. That's why I say, thank God it's, you know, F-J. That's why that one movie is so scary is because it has two of these things back to back. Number three, don't intentionally not tip as this can be embarrassing for both parties. Well, it's kind of embarrassing for one of you mostly.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Usually cabs and restaurants require 10 to 15% tip. Hotels also require $1 to $2 per day. tip for baggage handlers and room attendants? Okay, that's a good question. Four, don't ask someone's age and the price of personal items. And don't say, you've gained weight when you
Starting point is 00:54:06 meet the others, because that is all a personal matter. That's true. Number five. Wait, would you say, you've gained weight to someone you've just met? You can in Europe. It's fine there. Technically, like since I was a baby. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, all children have gained weight if they've
Starting point is 00:54:22 grown larger. Number five, and this is another source of discourse don't send watermelon fried chicken or soda to black people it's rude
Starting point is 00:54:30 yeah I mean soda seems not like the other two I'm not sending watermelon to anyone I'm not sending soda
Starting point is 00:54:39 to anyone of any race or creed I guess if you have like a very specific kind of charity where you send like yummy snacks
Starting point is 00:54:48 you shouldn't racialize it my charity mails watermelons to people it's kind of extra spongy by the time it gets to you it's in a bag a bag of watermelon in the mail number six don't take pictures or make recordings of on private property without permission sure yeah it's pretty new york is a single party consent state motherfucker that's what i say to
Starting point is 00:55:09 you number seven don't publish photos of children sure that's true anywhere really number eight don't gamble at home oh my god i didn't do that jeremy didn't like that one don't gamble at home It is against the law for private gambling. Do you know about that? I didn't know about that. Yeah, it is illegal, but everyone on earth does it. What are you talking about? How you gamble is legal and welcome in a casino.
Starting point is 00:55:35 How you gamble. This is all run by a casino, this question answer. It's all an ad. I'm kind of willing to flout the law to not be around the vibes that are inside of a casino most of the time because it takes any of the fun away from the gambling to have kind of like a smoky desperation wafting around you while you do it. Yeah, like what's fun is like putting $5
Starting point is 00:55:57 on a pool game between you and your friend. What is not fun is anything else related to gambling. Yeah. Period. Well, it's fun to let it all ride. You ever do stand-up in a casino? Not in a casino, no. It's really sad.
Starting point is 00:56:09 It's not fun. Though I've been in a casino several times and thought, I'm glad I'm not performing here right now. Yeah. that seems like it would be really difficult you ever stay in a casino and then you get up at like nine in the morning to get breakfast and there's people gambling at nine in the morning you get an early start and there's like oh there's just like people like at the slot machines at nine in the morning eating breakfast like pull in the slot machines now these this is a coffee flavored
Starting point is 00:56:33 coffee now we've walked into something we've walked into something and i think about a lot which is so like i was talking my wife about this who was just in vegas for something and all the slot machines no longer have the ka-chunk. What? They took away the ka-chunk. They took away the ka-chunk. I'm looking right down
Starting point is 00:56:48 the barrel of the camera. Ka-chunk. It's a button. It's a button. So you're just sitting there going da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. That's wrong. Which is like, no.
Starting point is 00:56:55 I want the ka-chunk, the spinning, the clanking. All the sounds should be there. It should be analog. If I'm at a machine that's been programmed to rob me, I better get to ka-chunk before it happens.
Starting point is 00:57:04 We pull a lever at least. Yeah, give me a toggle. A lever. Some kind of aesthetic satisfaction that goes off. They just know you'll hit the button more. That's what's... Yeah. What's the thing that's on a boat where you go like...
Starting point is 00:57:17 Oh, yeah. That would also be good. A thrume. That's what they're called. It's a toil. A toil. Okay, well, you should also not eat in the subway or walk between cars on the subway.
Starting point is 00:57:29 And then there's a big picture of a burger. And don't take pictures with people in dolls' clothes downtown. What? What does that mean? You will be blackmailed, it says. uh yeah this is so as yeah so as the only reference to as the as the only doll here i can i can i can i confess this i will blackmail you try to take photo of my clothing especially if i'm below 14th street uh when you're on the street and someone offers to give you a cd don't take it and pay for
Starting point is 00:57:58 it sure fine okay that's good advice actually and then don't discuss religion or politics with people you don't know well and then there's a gift or else you might as well be the guy from Supernatural if you do that. It's one of the handsome brothers. And they fight demons together. Well, well, well. If it isn't the handsome brothers. That's what demons say to them.
Starting point is 00:58:19 Great. Those are the rules. That's all you need to know before you come here. What was this written five years ago? If you take a doll's clothes, you'll be blackmailed. Hearing Bill Maher say that after the new rules music. New rules.
Starting point is 00:58:33 Don't gamble in your home. Okay. It's legal and welcome at a casino. That would be fun if you just actually said do rules. Oh, the person who made this answer only has one question, which is how can I be graceful and elegant? That's a good question. That's what we're all waiting to know.
Starting point is 00:58:53 Step one, be graceful. Step two, be elegant. Next question. Boom. You just have to have it. Practice, practice, practice, and find a leaf. If they were real, would creatures such as fairies and elves legally be humans with human rights?
Starting point is 00:59:05 This is city politics. They would have elf and fairy rights. They wouldn't have human rights. They're not humans. This is not what the movie Bright was about. Oh, you're right. This is what the movie Bright is about. In-depth explorers.
Starting point is 00:59:20 Well, I think the elves have rights, and the orcs do not. They're heavily racialized. Joel Orkerton is in that movie. Do you know this movie, Claire? Bright? Is this the Will Smith movie? It's Max Landis' movie.
Starting point is 00:59:32 Yeah, it's Max Landis' movie about Will Smith as a cop and his partner as an orc. He's a damn orc cop. In fantasy Los Angeles. There's like a... Beverly Hills as elves and like downtown
Starting point is 00:59:43 like Compton as orcs. He said it was going to be a Star Wars. It was going to be a Star Wars. And then what happened to Max Landis? No one knows. On paper it sounds really good.
Starting point is 00:59:54 Totally, totally. This could be him because Max Landis is kind of known for going to random forums and being like, will anyone read my screenplay? Does my script have juice chat?
Starting point is 01:00:05 Well, he would hang out on the cracked forums in like the mid-2000s. Our previous employer. What a cool guy. Yes, that's right. I forgot about that. Yes, our old job. We were just friends with Max Landis. He used to see me clogging the toilet.
Starting point is 01:00:20 But yeah, he definitely could have written this. I don't know. Let's see who the question asker is. Just to get more heat. That was Blake Bollinger, who's a computer science student. I got to say, you know, it's rare that the questions look exactly like the question asked or looks exactly like you would guess he would based on what the question was. Blake Bollinger is a LMFAO style 2009 white man.
Starting point is 01:00:47 You think he looks like someone from the band LMFAO? I think neither of those guys are white. Right, but I'm saying the era of music. So this guy's related to, in your mind, this guy's related to Barry Gordy? Yes, I think that he has, well, he's not like in the band, he's just, that's the kind of look he has.
Starting point is 01:01:06 Oh, he's sorry. He skates on stage. This is just a guy who is sorry for party rocking. Right. In 2008. Got it. That's all I'm saying. Sure.
Starting point is 01:01:14 He has 104,000 questions. Oh my God. So we know he didn't write bright because he has been writing elsewhere. He's busy. He hasn't done anything in three years, so I guess he kind of gave up on the dream. But he does know about life and living.
Starting point is 01:01:35 A lot of his questions are about getting into school. We were demonetized one time for playing that song. Yeah, well, you don't even sing it. Right. Well, it sounds too much like it when I sing it. I think you should maybe apologize for party rocking. I'm sorry I party rocked on that. There's a lot of answers here.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Do I even want to read any of them? I don't know. You were so excited about this question. We've got to read the answers. Okay, read this one, Alex. Okay, Angus says... But do it in an Australian accent. I'm not good at that one.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Possibly. Nailed it. I think... Keep going. I think there'd probably need to be some redefinition of laws. And then say our guest's name from last week. you're going a little you're going a little kiwi by the way you're veering kiwi you're going you've gone to the kiwi side either human there it is didn't
Starting point is 01:02:35 refer exclusively to h sapiens or to replace a human with something that covered other intelligent reasoning beings. Perhaps sapiens might become a name. That's a good idea. A name. The thing about this is that Star Trek
Starting point is 01:02:55 solved it, which is that person refers to anyone of any species. Oh, yeah, that's smart. And human refers to human beings of the race human.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Okay. That's not very funny or interesting, but it is. It is correct. And then there's a gif of Dobby the house elf. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:12 He's a... Smart noise to him. He's, I guess, legally a person but not a human. What's the whole thing in those stupid fucking books? It's like they discover they have slaves and they're like, it's not that big of a deal. It's the new Star Wars. Sometimes you have to have slaves. Sometimes you gotta have them.
Starting point is 01:03:27 Some people are worse. The thing is with slaves, the work is free. That's right. That is true. I don't want to give too much of an endorsement here, but that's just the reality of the situation. Let's end the show probably. Should we do a listener question real quick? Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:03:45 We're going to have a question. If you would like to write us a Quora-style question, please write in to Quora. I'm going to our emails. Quorators at gmail.com. Jesus Christ. Please keep your answers or questions under 30 seconds. We would love to hear from you.
Starting point is 01:03:58 And this is our segment, Would You Rather. Jesus Christ. Would you rather? This is your segment. Would you rather? What podcast are you on? Mary Kill. This is your segment, Is That Okay?
Starting point is 01:04:13 Is that okay? I'm going to click this one that says deputy judgment on it. I have not tested any of these, so if these are bad, I'm sorry. Just because the Fulton County Sheriff's deputies reckon they're big, tough, good old boys don't mean them or their kids scare us. Don't they know that God is judge? That does sound like a Quora question. It really does.
Starting point is 01:04:39 It's tough to answer in the outright, but... I would click on you and find out more if I could. I guess in the abstract, I just agree. We've kind of backed ourselves into a corner with this topic where we ask people to send us bad questions, and then they ask us, and we're like, I don't know how to answer that. It's not even a question. It's just like the website.
Starting point is 01:05:04 Well, that was Would You Rather. Good job. That was really good. Is that okay? this has been would you rather and i'm lmfo okay let's close this down people which one of you is the other's uncle by the way i just want to alex is my uncle he's so young because i'm just a boy at 32 years old i'm raising you right and our love is what i was the youngest person you knew until you had a baby that's right and now it's the baby now you're way older by a significant
Starting point is 01:05:39 amount and much heavier yeah you're definitely heavier than the baby i'm saying yeah yeah the baby's only like 20 something pounds i'm like 25 pounds kind of a size four and baby baby sizes are different than adult sizes i was gonna say that's pretty small but she is i mean she's a baby that's what we're discussing maddie thank you so much for coming on the show i'd like to hear more about your sample size baby um yeah thank you for having me where can our listeners find your works. Oh, God. Everywhere. All over. I have so many things. You can go to maddelibchansky.com and find out
Starting point is 01:06:13 all. You can get my latest book, Simplicity. You can listen to my shows, No Gods, No Mayors, or Temporal Culture War, which is a show about Star Trek Enterprise in the early 2000s. Yeah. When is this coming out? Monday. Monday. One week from today.
Starting point is 01:06:28 If you are in London, England, you the listener, I will, me and my co-hosts of No Gods, No Mayors. We'll be doing three live shows Saturday and Sunday. One Saturday, two Sunday at the Big Belly Comedy Club
Starting point is 01:06:43 on South Bank. Live.nogodsnomayors.com to get tickets. It's going to be really, really fun. All three shows are different mayors that we are covering. Sick. Mayors, mayors, mayors.
Starting point is 01:06:55 We're going to have a musical guest. Oh, wow. Yeah, it's going to be great. That's awesome. It sounds like an action-packed bonanza. If you're an Anglo. That's an incredible thing because it is Western-themed.
Starting point is 01:07:06 I thought you said that. That's right, just like we planned. That's right. So run, do not walk to Maddie's shows. Yeah. If you are here for more of our show, I have good news for you, Cowpoke. Every Thursday, there's another one.
Starting point is 01:07:19 If you pay $5 a month, you get twice as many of the shows. And we go on other websites there, and that can be a thrill in itself. So you're going to want to check that out. Even the guy who owns that bakery would think that's a reasonable price for more podcasts.
Starting point is 01:07:32 He would. Well, it is a reasonable price because it's less than a coffee at this point. It's kind of insane. I don't want to get political here, but four podcasts for $5 is like a venti of value. Neither of you have nose rings, which means it's okay for me to listen to. Right, right. That's exactly true. My wife has one.
Starting point is 01:07:50 Well, she's not doing podcasts, is she? Sure. I mean, I've never met this woman. We're going to close on out here. Bye. Thank you for listening. Goodbye. Goodbye.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Goodbye. Bye.
