Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, you're listening to Radio Lab. This is Laptop Nasser and what I have for you today is some breaking news. So you might remember last year my colleagues and I brought to you the story of a man with my name of the thief Nasser. Detainee 244 at Guantanamo Bay. Hey, what if Killed Me? What do you have cut your head off on a video if you had been instructed? Hello, duh. Labeled the worst of the worst by the United States government. People who've committed crime stand to lie about it. Detained for almost 20 years. That's why he's still at Gitmo.
Starting point is 00:00:33 Who then was cleared to leave. He's innocent. You have to take everything the CIA says with a pinch of salt. I know he was beaten many, many times. Opened up a hendor as box of horrific truths about American justice. But because of politics and a bureaucratic snarl at a crucial moment, and we're going to load it up with some bad dudes. Got stuck at Guantanamo anyway.
Starting point is 00:00:56 He's somebody who should be home. Should've been home a long time ago. And here's what we have to tell you. After 19 years, he's out. The US government has transferred Abdelitif Nasr out of Guantanamo. We don't know much else yet, other than that as you hear this, Abdelitif has touched down on the tarmac in his home country of Morocco. For those of you that have listened to this series, you know what a big deal this is.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I mean, they haven't let anyone out of Guantanamo Bay in years. For those of you who have not heard this series, this is a real prime time to catch up. You can find the series at theotherlutif.org. That's the other LATIF.org or search for the other lot of wherever you get your podcasts. I'm going to find out more right now and yeah more soon. you
