Raging Moderates with Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov - Ken Paxton CAUGHT on HOT MIC Trash-Talking Trump

Episode Date: September 30, 2026

Jessica's book I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends is out now — pick it up here: https://sites.prh.com/idisagree Jessica Tarlov and Aaron Parnas are back for Raging Perspective wit...h 35 days until the midterms. They open with a bombshell recording obtained by the New York Times: Ken Paxton, the Republican Senate nominee in Texas and longtime Trump ally, is privately admitting that Trump may be hurting him and other Republicans politically. In the recording, Paxton says his numbers — and everyone else's — dropped after the recent Trump-led GOP “midterm convention” in Dallas. How bad is this for Paxton — and what does it mean for the Texas Senate race? Former special counsel Jack Smith testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, as Senate Republicans hoped to secure a public humiliation of Trump’s political enemies. But a moment between Smith and Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) went viral — and not for the reasons Republicans wanted. Aaron and Jessica react, with an eye toward the expression on Katie Britt's face. Trump is working overtime to make "superintelligence" a thing. All executive branch departments and agencies are now required to use that phrase instead of "artificial intelligence," a change announced after a White House lunch with AI — or is it SI? — leaders. The tech leaders signed what Trump called a "morally binding" agreement to establish AI safety standards — a one-page, voluntary pact calling for four layers of controls and auditing, including internal monitoring, outside evaluators, and independent board oversight. Aaron breaks down why Trump is doubling down on AI when it's becoming increasingly unpopular. Also, the U.S. launched its own branded AI chatbot: America.gov. Aaron shares what he’s learned from the site so far.  Plus, a quick check in on the situation in Iran, and Jessica and Aaron take listener questions on Texas, immigration hearings, and Kristi Noem’s divorce. Starting point is 00:00:01 hogging seats on a crowded train, not saying excuse me, watching videos on your phone with no headphones in. Sometimes it feels like we don't know how to act anymore. What we have been seeing increasingly is people breaking rules. Why should I play by the rules if nobody else is going to do that for me? This week on Explain It to Me, How to Mind Your Manners. New episodes, Sundays, wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, welcome back to another episode of the, Raging Perspective featuring me and my good friend, Jessica Tarlov.
Starting point is 00:00:44 If you haven't subscribed yet, hit that subscribe button. You're all about the business, man. Yeah, subscribe everywhere. YouTube, substack. Are there other other options? Oh, it'll be on the Raging Moderners Pod Leader. Anyway, we love you guys. This is, I don't know if this is true for you, but like a big highlight of my week.
Starting point is 00:01:05 It's a lot of fun. Yeah. Yeah. It's so much fun. So I love it. You know, sometimes you get the rundown and you're like, man, this is kind of boring. This show is a banger.
Starting point is 00:01:14 There's really good stuff in here. I mean, listen, if super intelligence had a definition, it would be this episode. There we go. And if our president could spell United States properly, which we will also get to. But I want to start with the leaked audio heard across the world slash Twitter. Ken Paxton, the Republican nominee for Senate in Texas, longtime Trump ally. I remember Trump dipped into the race late, like a week to go, to endorse Paxton. But he had been holding it over John Cornyn's head, and we knew he was going to go for the guy who was impeached by his own party and cheated on his wife really badly.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Though I was kind of bummed that she still came out and endorsed him and was like, it brined did that to me. No Senate seat for you. Anyway, so New York Times got their hands on a recording. from a fundraiser where Paxton talks about his numbers and says everyone's dropped after Trump's recent convention in Dallas. There was a bump. It was a 2.5 point bump for Democrats coming out of their midterms convention. Let's listen to Ken Paxton. Do you feel like, and all these guys know, he's president of Trump, but do you feel like he's a little bit of a doubt? So, to be honest with you, the numbers in case, when we did that, okay.
Starting point is 00:02:39 mentioned, those jobs are numbers. Everybody can't read out. By now, yeah, not good. I wish there was something to do that turned on. I would obviously not. Bad. Well, with a caveat. Like, good for Tala Rico, so. I actually look at this from, like, multiple point of views.
Starting point is 00:03:03 I don't know. This won't hurt, in my opinion, this won't hurt Ken Paxson unless Trump sees it and is, like, upset about it. He's going to see it. So yeah, once Trump sees it... He's not doing anything else. Once Trump sees it, puts out a truth social post or just starts cutting funding, then I think it's going to start hurting Ken Pax. And on its own, I'm like, okay, it's just like, it's Ken Paxx and saying what everyone else is saying, just like we hear it for the first time.
Starting point is 00:03:26 But it is so pretty... I want to know who recorded it. Like, this is like a private donor meeting. I'm just, I'm fascinated. Who's the leak? I mean, there are leaks in the situation room for God's sense. like it's Susie Wiles, Stephen Chung, J.D. Vance. Like, you don't think there's someone sitting in a Ken Paxton donor meeting that's like, I'm just going to record this. It always gets out. And he actually sounded the most normal that Ken Paxton has ever sounded to me, which was a bit of a letdown where I was like, oh, maybe there is a human being in there that is somewhat connected to reality. But I think there is a 0% chance that Trump isn't made aware of this. I think there will be bluster. about it. It's really the funding issue because Ken Paxton has not been able to fundraise well on
Starting point is 00:04:15 his own. John Cornyn historically an enormously productive fundraiser for himself and for the party. You know, big shot across Ken Paxton's bow that last week or the week before, Cornyn did a fundraiser with George W. Bush and they fundraised for every other Republican Senate candidate in the country except Ken Paxton and they did it in Dallas. I'm wondering, and I don't think it's going to happen, but we have seen some pretty high-level defections to supporting Democrats in Texas. You have Carl Rove out there saying, I mean, this Beau French is completely despicable, but he's the one who posted that the shot of the arena had too many people of color in it for his taste. And Ken Paxton could only, you know, muster a mild,
Starting point is 00:05:08 like, that's not okay with me, bro, versus Carl Rose. Like, I'm voting for the Democrat. And then he was talking at Trib Fest and basically said the Republicans are a bunch of Nazis. And the fact that Nick Fuentes even has any access means, like, you can't really support these guys. I don't think he's going to be putting on a blue T-shirt and going door to door. But do you think there is any shot that John Cornyn says that he's going to vote for Talleyco? No, but I do think he's going to vote for Talarico. Quietly?
Starting point is 00:05:37 Yeah, I think Cornyn will vote. I just cannot imagine that Cornyn would come out and say, vote for James. I mean, if he did that, to me, that would solidify a James victory. I mean, yeah. But I think if we haven't heard it yet, maybe that's the October surprise that the Talarico team is holding on to. But no, I don't, I can't imagine.
Starting point is 00:06:03 So Cornyn's done a good job if you've seen what he's been doing over the past. since losing the primary. He's still a Republican through and through, and he's still very much, like, on the party line. But he's, like, towing that line so carefully while also attacking Paxton subtly and going after some of these Republicans in Texas that I don't think he...
Starting point is 00:06:23 I think he wants some position in the party, some respect in the party. Well, and to not be remembered as a traitor. Right. You know, after you have, like, decades-long career, I could understand that that might not be appealing. but if you just look at the ads that his team was running during the primary, you can feel 99.9% confident that John Corny is not going to be voting for this guy.
Starting point is 00:06:47 And I'm always curious, like, what the life is like for the John Cornyn staffer that's now part of the Talarico campaign. And if he would, I don't know if he wants to come on the pod, tell us that there are a lot more like him. Yeah, if you're listening, I guess we could just like reach out to the Tallinnati. Rico campaign and ask. I'm sure that would not happen. But if there are more like him, and I would, I would guess that there are. What do you make of before we move? I don't want to do like a little more like election bat signal stuff. I saw Jim Justice, the West Virginia senator, posting about how out of control ISIS, this follows Roger Marshall in Kansas doing the same thing. And this probably just appealed to my data nerd heart. But in the,
Starting point is 00:07:37 the new Wall Street Journal poll, which has Democrats up eight on the generic ballot. I saw that they did a survey within the survey of the top 10 policies with the highest support amongst Democrats and Republicans, which is totally speaking my love language as a raging moderate. And number one, pass laws to ban surprise medical bills, require health insurance companies to cover services and medicines, cap the maximum price of prescription drugs, cap credit card interest, stop illegal immigration at the border, restrict large institutional investors from buying large families, large numbers of single family homes, pathway to citizenship, capping child care costs. Like, you can see how Democrats are racking up, you know, in that survey, an eight-point advantage.
Starting point is 00:08:23 The only one that sticks out is closing the border, which Democrats obviously failed to do, weren't even trying to do, frankly, during the Biden administration. But what do you think about that? Yeah, I mean, well, I don't know if you saw But the UGov poll came out today showing Dems up 15 in the generic valve Which I don't I don't believe their Democrats Amel like, did you only poll my house?
Starting point is 00:08:46 Yeah, I think it'll ultimately be That's not how polls are done. I don't want to be that person. That's like, oh, they didn't call me. I know how it's done. But 15 is like a tsunami. Yeah, I think it'll end up being six to eight after. Which is still great.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Which is a blue wave for sure. I don't think it'll be 15. But I'm not surprised by any of that. And 90% of the policies you outlined, by the way, if Democrats actually just ran on it, they'd win. That's the most frustrating thing is like, if you want to look to why Mamdani is so popular, he checks off almost all of those boxes.
Starting point is 00:09:26 He saw the poll and was like, oh, the people, all the people. Like, how do you get a Trump momdani voter? Check, check, check, check. Like going after big corporations, check, capping cost of living and child care prices, check, medical bills. All of there. Democrats are going to have a lot of these like convenings that they like to do after this November election. And I think after in all of these meetings,
Starting point is 00:09:52 I'm so excited to go to them when you just sit there and you're like, what did we learn? Yeah, they should look to that poll that you just cited because that is the roadmap for 2020. If a presidential candidate can run on that And just that, Democrats will win. Like say nothing else. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:10 And have a good glow up. I'm being John Ossoff now. But like say nothing else. No. I mean, you literally just focus on that. That's it. And it's so popular. It's so good.
Starting point is 00:10:22 And it's so common sense. Yeah. Like everyone has been bemoaning for years that is it a majority? I feel like it is a majority. of Americans couldn't make it through like a bad medical emergency and, you know, fear going to the doctor and the Kaiser Family Foundation always does amazing polling about this. And I'm like, why are we complicating things with talking about all of this other stuff? Like answer people's questions, of course. Yeah. If they're at a town hall and they bring something up, but like,
Starting point is 00:10:52 I don't have Hakeem Jeffries's phone number. But if I did, I would text him that. I assume his team has already showed him. Okay. I want to talk about another amazing. moment. Eric Schmidt, you dummy. Okay, so former special counsel, Jack Smith, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday defending his two Trump prosecutions and saying he won't be silenced by threats. The Justice Department is investigating accusations that Smith lied to the House about obtaining lawmakers' phone records. There was a moment that went viral, mega-viral, between Smith and Senator Eric Schmidt. Let's watch. Did you go to an NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks on February 3rd, 2024.
Starting point is 00:11:35 What city would that be in? Atlanta. No. Let me just give you a little context. The day before Fannie Willis came clean with her affair with the prosecutor. You know the Atlanta prosecutor that was also trying to get Trump. The next day were you in Atlanta? I do not believe so.
Starting point is 00:11:51 What would you say if I had a series of text messages from your team that said you were in Atlanta at a Warrior Hawks game on February 3, 2024, the day after Willis and Wade announced their affair? I don't think you know that we have this stuff. So I think you've already perjured yourself, but... I recall going to a University of Maryland basketball game where Caitlin Clark was playing. It was Maryland playing Iowa, I think February of 2024. But again, you can check that out if that's...
Starting point is 00:12:22 Could it then be that University of Iowa is the Hawkeyes? Could that be it? And maybe... Who's questioning is this, by the last, Chairman? Are you using your time, Senator? Is this what this is? Are we just having like an open session here? I will begin my questions now, but I think that people should have their back straight before they accuse someone of being a dirt bag and not get the team wrong.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I stand by that statement. Oh, boy. Amy, it's like, it's so perfect. And then she gets like this Midwest moment where she's like, could it be the Iowa Hawkeyes? How did this happen? Does that Safer have a job? I don't know if we can show Katie Britt's face. Right around that time
Starting point is 00:13:05 and the Marshal Service was there with me, you could check if that was the exact date. Listen, I watched that moment live and I was like, this is amazing. I mean, it's like peak United States Senate incompetence because that hearing was supposed to be the big gotcha before the election. Republicans bring in Jack Smith.
Starting point is 00:13:26 They're like, we're going to go after weaponization. We're going to go after Jack Smith. And then it just failed. But the best part about this all wasn't the moment, but the fact that that morning, Eric Schmidt, yesterday morning, Eric Schmidt, had an Axios article leaked, an Axios article leak that said,
Starting point is 00:13:45 Eric Schmidt considered top contender to be vice president, J.D. Vance's vice president, when J.D. Vance runs for president. And then after that, every MAGA influencer from Matt Gates to Benny Johnson were like tweeting out, oh, you should watch Eric Schmidt today. You're not going to want to miss the moment he has coming.
Starting point is 00:14:04 And we didn't want to miss it. It was like this planned thing that Eric Schmidt's team had. They've been like workshopping this for days. They're like, we're going to get Jack Smith. We're going to get him in a perjury trap. And then it all failed. And they like go to Staples and they're like printing this thing out. And John Kennedy gets up and he's like, you see this?
Starting point is 00:14:23 And John Kennedy has had some good moments recently, actually, where he's like, Don Jr. shouldn't get a, cake from the billionaires or the Russian billionaires. And then this happens. Katie Britt, former staffer, Scarlett Johansson, I hope you're available on Saturday. Hot off the presses. Donald Trump hates me. Why does Fox News always put Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Jessica Tarlove, and every Democrat
Starting point is 00:14:49 on saying bad things about the Republican Party and, of course, me? I actually think they get more airtime than pro-Republicans. This is why MAGA and real patriots will never like. Fox. Is that true? I mean, that I don't like Trump and that Patriots hate Fox. No, I don't think that they hate Fox. Why isn't he busier? I ask you again. That's a good question. I mean, he should he should be doing more, no. I mean, I feel like yeah. I mean, the president of the United States should be really focused on fixing his AI chatbot. That's what I think he needs to fix. Because that to me is like, it just gets better. Like, peak.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Like, America.gov is out. And I was like, you know what? Let me like go play around with it. Was there voter fraud that changed the 2020 election? No. Who won the 2020 election? Joe Biden. Did Donald Trump inherit the worst inflation crisis?
Starting point is 00:15:45 No. I mean, like, literally like AI, it was like, it was great. And then today, now it doesn't tell you any of that. I know. They got to it. They got to the superintelligence. Wait, can I add one about it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:58 My favorite was, is it accurate to say that the big beautiful bill on average made the poorest people in America even poorer and the richest people in America even richer when looking at total household resources? One word answer. Yes. Support for the show comes from Grooons. Holden flu season is approaching, which means it's more important than ever to make sure your body has all the nutritional ammunition it can get. Grins are a convenient, comprehensive formula, and one delicious daily pack of gummy bear. This isn't a multivitamin, a greens gummy, or a prebiotic. It's all of those things, and then some at a fraction of the price.
Starting point is 00:16:35 And bonus, it tastes great. Generic multivitamins only contain around seven to nine vitamins. Grunz has more than 20 vitamins and minerals, with 60 ingredients which include nutrient-dense, whole foods that include six grams of prebiotic fiber, which supports digestive health, biotin, and niacinamide, which provides thicker hair, nails, and skin health, super mushrooms which promote brain and gut health, and the old standby vitamin C, which reduces immunity damage, stress-inducing free radicals. Those 60 ingredients are backed by over 35,000 research publications.
Starting point is 00:17:07 I've tried Grooens and found them nice to eat, actually. I don't mind it. It feels like it's healthy at a pretty low cost. Save up to 61% off with free gifts with code moderates at grooms.co that's spelled gr-un-s-s-o. So like any good millennial, I have a love-hate relationship with Gen Z. It's the phenomenon rattling millennials. They just look at you. They want something bigger themselves.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Lifestyles are priority. Motivation is being inspired. But regardless of how you feel about Gen Z, it's undeniable that they're changing national politics. Generation Z is increasingly showing less loyalty to traditional political parties. Many now more likely to identify as independent. So what is going on with the kids? I think the biggest misconception about Gen Z's politics right now is that all of a
Starting point is 00:17:59 sudden they're all socialist. That is just not the case. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They are embracing candidates who are offering new bold ideas in the absence of those ideas from establishment Democrats. This week on America, actually, Gen Z researcher, Rachel Jamfaza joins us to separate Gen Z fact versus fiction. It's not rocket science. And this is, you know, I keep saying like, young voters aren't that complicated after all. It's pretty simple. Catch us every Saturday on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast. AI panic is everywhere.
Starting point is 00:18:31 We do not want a data center in this county. AI models are becoming superhuman in their ability to break in and out of computer systems. F*** the clock, damn Roseboro. I hate those things. But where is that panic really coming from? According to a poll from the New York Times and Sienna, less than 1% of voters listed artificial intelligence or data centers as their top priority in this year's midterms. I'm an old school person.
Starting point is 00:18:59 I don't care about AI. Right. You're saying that doesn't register for you. And sometimes I wonder, do they care about AI in so-called real America? What people in my district are saying is we think the risks outweigh the benefits. This week on America, actually, I'm talking to Michigan congressional candidate Will Lawrence on why he shaped his entire campaign around confronting the AI revolution. Really, it's about control, I think above all. Who decides?
Starting point is 00:19:25 Because people feel like they just are not really given any say-so in the whole matter. Catch us every Saturday. on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast. But this links to what we were texting about yesterday when it came out. Because I said, first of all, it says that your privacy will be respected. And there is no effing way that your privacy is going to be respected. This is like, you know, TikTok on steroids. And second of all, there was no way that they could have built something that would have been able to do the things.
Starting point is 00:20:00 that they said it could do this quickly and silently. Like, we didn't hear anything about this or there were, I mean, I guess if you were like in the know for this, you might have heard rumblings about it, but didn't this feel like it appeared out of nowhere and that there was this big meeting, which good on the heads of the AI companies for finding a way to wrangle him, it seems, into some semblance of a regulatory framework or at least being open to it, because just a few days ago, he's, at the UN saying, absolutely not. I will not participate in this.
Starting point is 00:20:33 So I don't know if Dario romanced him or what happened at that dinner, but they got him to where they needed him to go. And the rank and file Republicans need it because Mike Rogers can't win in Michigan with Trump saying you're going to be like backwards and poor unless you let me have all these data centers. But the fact that we have within hours
Starting point is 00:20:51 that they're tampering was something that's supposed to be the ultimate truth bot. Like people are aware of these things. Yeah, yeah, they are. And honestly, it's like one of those things where it's like, I just don't get how they release that, knowing that that's what, like, how do you not test it? Like, to me, it's mind-boggling that the administration is, like,
Starting point is 00:21:11 rolls out some of this stuff. Like, this AI, like, even America.gov, when you went on it yesterday, it said it's funded or, like, powered by AI, not SI, which is what the Trump administration has been pushing. Like, if you want to lean into all of the changes you're making and the fact that Donald Trump is the greatest thing since slice spread, and he could do no wrong, and there was fraud and all this stuff. How come you don't at least be competent enough to make a thing that says that?
Starting point is 00:21:38 Right? Like, to me, what it was was they just took chat GPT, slapped America.gov on top. GROC. Or grok, slapped America.gov. And that was kind of it. I mean, that's what it was. And I just, they're not even good at being bad. Bad.
Starting point is 00:21:59 You're so bad. Can't even fake good. No. Do you think this switch or movement in his position is going to help them electorally? Or that's kind of baked into the cake that voters don't think that Republicans care about their concerns when it comes to AI? I don't know that this will really impact the election much. I think this is just like another embarrassment. I think the AI conversation is much bigger than America.gov.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I think the data center issue is with the core. of this. And I think that will impact elections, especially in places like South Texas, where they're trying to build data centers in communities. And Republicans are coming out and saying, I won't vote for a Republican because of data centers. So I do think it'll have a big impact on the election. How big? We'll find out in November. Yes, Aaron. We will find out in November. We will. That's exactly what people want to hear. When they're like, oh, let's tune in and listen to the experts. And then we're like, it all comes down to turn out and we will find out in November.
Starting point is 00:23:00 I mean, like, but the- No, no, I totally. I mean, I don't want to be on the hook for it. I think it's going to be a big deal. You know, it's basically the economy and inflation. And then data centers is creeping up there for people. They're clearly, though, trying to make immigration happen as a campaign issue. There's another caravan coming up right now.
Starting point is 00:23:21 The electoral caravan. Marjorie Taylor Green is the clock, right? she's right a couple times a day. ICE is reportedly preparing for a hiring surge to support Trump's deportation campaign aiming to bring 5,000 new employees by the end of the year. The hires would grow the workforce
Starting point is 00:23:39 by about 17% and use substantial new congressional funding, which then Susan Collins allow that to go through, just as a reminder. They just fired a bunch of ICE agents. This is so stupid. I saw this headline and I was like,
Starting point is 00:23:53 y'all, they literally, two months ago, fired like 5,000 ice agents. You didn't because they were invetted properly because they could, they're like 26 day ones that are out on those streets. And there was even reports that they were being forced to pay back their bonuses and they couldn't, it was a whole mess. But anyways, they just fired a bunch of people. Now they want to rehire a bunch of people.
Starting point is 00:24:11 We're going to offer another $50,000 bonus. That really what we're going to do right now? I mean, yeah. I think that is what we're going to do now. But it makes me think putting aside, I guess it maybe it'll just be like, you know, the app, the people who are out coming back in and share numbers. But it does feel like we have, you know, 33 days or whatever it is until the midterms. And we need to make immigration and fear of migrant populations stick as an election issue.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Because on all the other ones, it's not happening or it's not looking good for them. True. That's what they're doing here. I mean, that's all it is. Okay. Do you want to, before we go to questions, I would like your opinion. Because Scott and I went back and forth on this a lot yesterday about what's going on with Iran and the fact that now we're almost back to pre-war levels of crude oil getting out. Do you think that now Iran is on the back foot? Because Scott did not think so. He still thought that Iran was in a much better position. And I feel like this is a big deal for the U.S. side.
Starting point is 00:25:27 I agree with Scott here. Okay. And the reason why is because to me, who's winning this war is not necessarily who's winning it on the ground, but rather who's winning it in the court of public opinion. Oh. And Iran today is in a much more powerful negotiating position in the court of public opinion than they were at the start of the war. No one's disputing the fact that Iran has been severely damaged
Starting point is 00:25:51 and tons of Iranian military capabilities have been destroyed. And yes, you're right, there is crude oil coming out. But that's not the conversation because even with crude oil coming out, diesel prices are still rising, right? Even with crude oil coming out, Americans are still upset with the president over the war in Iran. And because none of that's changing, Iran is still in a far better position today than it was yesterday and then it was on February 27. Okay. I mean, I think that you're right in terms of like they want this to continue on through the election if they can make it so. And they're. clearly want to hurt Donald Trump, but their strategy of being able to control the straight is obviously not in full force anymore at all. And I don't know. I mean, it's been interesting reading a lot of analysts, oil analysts who were really disturbed by the approach that the U.S. was taking, having a different approach now that they're looking. Yeah. that they're looking at this. But what they are thinking is most likely to happen and what the markets are
Starting point is 00:26:59 pricing in, which is even scarier, is that Iran will respond militarily. We'll see what happens. I don't know. I mean, it's an interesting conversation to have. By the way, I didn't realize, but Trump just put that truth social out attacking me. That's why I said hot off the press. Oh, like literally 10 minutes ago. I thought this was like, I had no idea. I thought it was, what you thought I just randomly was like, Hey. I was sitting there and I was thinking like, where the hell is this coming from? Like, I've never seen this before. It literally just happened.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah. Maybe he was watching Raging Perspective. Hi, if you're watching this. He was definitely watching the five yesterday. I'll ask again, why is this man not busier? I don't know. You tell me. What I know.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I'm working. How about this? Next time you're on the five, ask him, say, Mr. President, I see you watch us. Why aren't you busier? Yeah. But it is crazy. like how myopic he is about Fox, that he puts me in the same echelon
Starting point is 00:27:58 as the head of the Democratic Party in the Senate and the House. You're just like, I'm just a girl. I'm just a girl. Like sitting in heavy HD hair and makeup talking about how you're shitty at your job, admittedly. But like, Hakeem Jeffrey Chuck Schumer and Jessica Tarlove is, like, the man's out of his mind.
Starting point is 00:28:21 I mean, here we are. You should go visit him in the White House. I'm good. I already have my signed hats. I'm out. Okay. Questions from the audience. Question for Aaron's attorney brain. Can you put that brain on? How can they deal with the immigrant children without representation and what will happen to them? It's a loaded question. How can they do it? Well, they can do it. The way they do it is, so it's a much longer story than just, I guess, a 60 seconds sound bite. But at the beginning of the Trump administration, they cut a $200 million contract to a organization that provides legal services to undocumented children at the border and unaccompanied minds. They then took part of that money, not all of it, part of it, and redirected it to a different organization that they said would do a better job at providing legal representation.
Starting point is 00:29:14 This organization provides the lawyers. The lawyers sit in the courtroom. Oftentimes they don't show up in the courtroom. and they don't really do much for the kids. The kids also don't necessarily have a right to counsel in all of these asylum proceedings. You're not entitled to counsel always. It's a very difficult situation given the fact that
Starting point is 00:29:36 these aren't criminal proceedings. If they were charged with the crime, they'd be entitled to counsel, but because it's an asylum hearing, it's a little different. What happens to the kids, they are sent back to detention centers and then are oftentimes deported back to wherever the judge signed in order to.
Starting point is 00:29:51 I mean, that's what happens. And we're seeing a cruelty now and it being brought up now, but this has been something that's been going on for a long time. It's not just over the past 18 months. I mean, thank you for your answer. This is really disturbing. It is. Jessica and Aaron, both of us are on this one. I'm from Texas, and the vibe so far is amazing for Dems.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Do you think there's a scenario where both Gina and James Wynn? I'm so nervous. FYI, we all hate Abbott. I think there's a scenario if I were predicting today. Will we know in November? We will know in November. If I was a betting man, I would bet that James will win and Gina won't. But anything's possible.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Yeah. I mean, I do think for all the criticisms of Abbott, he still fits into a traditional Republican mold, which is more comfortable to people than what's going on with Ken Paxton. And I still think, I mean, that's a very tight race. And the Talleyko team is running, you know, understanding that that's the case. So if I took off my rose-colored glasses, I would probably agree with that analysis. But I think that she is running the most incredible campaign.
Starting point is 00:31:06 And we're putting together conversations with a lot of these candidates who you're surprised by are doing so well. And Gina is one of them. And her ad, talking about her decision to carry her baby who she knew would not live, is one of the more powerful political ads I've ever seen in my entire life. I agree. And yeah. And she just has all of the right messaging. And what's great is that this isn't a reversal for her. She didn't like wake up and start campaigning and then have these ideas about where the Democratic Party goes wrong and how we have to treat the immigration system and what you do when you are. running a border state, I think it's a truly magical campaign. And I'm glad that she's getting more national attention. And it's a good thing also that Democrats, like the infrastructure is spending more in Texas now. So obviously, they're seeing the possibility. Any comment on Kristy Nome's divorce, Tom is asking? No, I personally try to stay out of people's personal lives.
Starting point is 00:32:11 That's very big of you. I don't. I love to dive into people's personal lives. I will just say Well, like, no one's surprised, and she's still out with Corey Lewandowski, so I imagine that had something to do with it. But you have to watch Tim Dillon impersonating Christy Knoam's husband. It was on his pod, like, when all of this broke about the breasts. Anyway, Chrissy Nome seems like not a particularly good person, a terrible public servant who obviously used the office to enrich herself and people close to her. but just also someone who treated her husband terribly and humiliating someone like that is unacceptable. Beth Burgess comments, Natalie is probably videoing you both right now. Hi, Natalie.
Starting point is 00:32:59 I don't think so. I mean, I don't know. Maybe she's not busier either. Maybe. I don't know. Go win a war. Go lower prices. That's it for us.
