Rahimi Harris and Grody.
Of course I follow my Grady on Twitter.
I love you guys, and I'm thrilled to be here.
I've been listening to the score for many, many, many years.
Middays 10 to 2 on 104 3, the score.
Ball center field.
Peters coming in.
White Sox went it 15 to 2 over the twins.
It was an impressive big lead debuted for David Sandlin,
and Davis Martin gets the ball tomorrow a chance to win the series.
That's right. Take that weird-ass Minnesota Twins.
It's C.C. Sabathia's quote, not mine.
This is Rahimi Harrison Grotie on 104. The score, that is the voice of John Triffon on CHSN.
And the White Sox just put it to the twins last night in every way possible, I think,
when you consider that it was a 15 to 2 drubbing. That's how you get it done.
Byron Bucson's own run didn't even matter.
Didn't.
And I don't have a lot of opportunities in my life where I can say that, Marjor.
That's true. He has been a stinger to the White Sox.
And we'll get to David Sandlin.
The rest of the league, by the way. He's in the top five in home runs.
Yeah. And we saw him flying around the bases the other day against the White Sox, so yeah, he's still Byron Bukston.
Because Sox are lucky. So are all the teams at the division that that that man has spent so much time on the injured list.
But I loved their offense last night because they had a five-run fifth, a five-run seventh.
Both were vastly different in the way they scored the run.
in the fifth inning.
They were just nickel and dimming and causing
to station to station.
Causing Minnesota to look bad on defense at times.
And then in the seventh inning, it was like cleanup time.
It's like the thumpers have arrived.
And Mutataka Morakami gets his 20th.
Chase Midroth with his fifth home run this year.
A grand slam!
A grand slam! Which matches the five home runs that he had last year.
So it was kind of because you had the rookie David Sandlin
making his major league debut,
kind of a perfect win for the White Sox last night
with the way the offense had the crescendo
and David Sandlin after Byron Buxton was awesome.
I'm no expert,
but you could say that David Sandlin got run support.
He did get that.
Two touchdowns worth.
And two extra points.
He could be comfortable.
Yes.
Yeah.
And David Sandlin showed the pride of OASO, Oklahoma,
Boomer Sooner, former teammate of Kate Horton at OU.
Oh, yeah.
That was a world.
of a team. So he goes out there and at what point did you realize he had thrown no pitches per
inning? I'm like, what? How are you getting guys out on nothing? Just flying through. You are making
this like incredibly easy. There's another nine pitch inning. Retired 18 straight batters. I mean,
made short work. This wasn't just a gem. This was a hell of a performance in every way,
shape, and form. He only threw 61 pitches and he went six inning. Could have gone out there for the
seventh. I guess at that point, Will Venable's probably thinking, let's leave him wanting more,
the crowd, let's get you out of here with an absolutely sparkling outing. Not much more you
could have done in his role than to absolutely go out there and just shine. And that's exactly
what we saw. To the efficiency point, 61 pitches. Oh, how? It's all it took over six
innings where he allowed just the one run on one hit. And it was it if you didn't see the game from the
very start last night. The very first pitch that he threw was called a strike by the umpire
immediately reviewed. Byron Buxton goes to the helmets and says, I want that. And it gets, his first
pitch gets taken away and turned into a ball. Next pitch, Byron Buxton hits the ball out of the
park and you're like, oh boy. And then as Layla said, he proceeded to then retire the next 18 straight
men and not flukeishly.
He really had terrific
command. He looks good out there.
Big, strong kid who apparently
had a late growth spurt
in his life, like watching the telecast
last night. Yeah, boomer damn sooner,
dude. Yeah, like later
high school, he goes
from like 5'9 to what he is now between
6-1 and 6-2, and it
made life possible for him in Major League
baseball. And that curveball
was snapping. Nice.
I was a tight curve ball. That's
wouldn't, I mean, to have that much polish on the breaking ball, I know it's typically what
happens when you come from a program like Oklahoma or a college world series program.
That is the idea.
You got miles on your arm.
But to be able to do that at the big league level, just the confidence he had in facing
twins hitters where he didn't need to necessarily throw fastball.
He's like, no, I'm going to go cut fastball right here.
And then we're just going to throw you a heavy diet of change up curveball.
And it worked.
That is confidence when you can be that break.
in your arsenal and then settle down after that Buxden home run and just go out there and
absolutely dominate.
Completely efficient.
He becomes the, see, this is the beautiful part about the Chicago White Sox this year.
Yes, they are winning and they are continuing to develop.
It is complicated.
I can't predict where the White Sox are going to end up.
Maybe they're right, right where they are right now.
Maybe what the White Sox are.
It's not inconceivable that they could expand to 10 games over at some point in time.
But this is the sixth White Sox.
pitcher to have made his major
league debut. It is the 10th
overall player on the White Sox
to make their major league debut
this year. So it's exciting.
It's beautiful that whenever
gets and or
Will Vennible works with these guys, it
seems to work when they put them in place.
So it's fun to see, to sort
through these guys and see who's going
to stick and who's not. Dare I say, Mark,
that they are putting people in positions to succeed.
Holy cow. They are.
And that's exactly what happened.
I mean, called him up at the right time,
when 61 of your first major league pitches,
that you only need in a single game,
and 41 of them go for strikes,
and you throw a heavy diet of change ball,
change ball, change up curveball.
That's incredible.
Like, I, that was a hell of a performance that we saw.
One of the best pitching performances we've seen in town this year,
and it was a guy doing it in his debut.
Jim DeShays calls the slider a slide ball sometimes,
So I think that's okay.
Change ball?
Side piece.
Yo, what's up with your slide piece?
There's a joke there somewhere.
Where's the joke?
Slide piece, yo.
Did you find it?
Where's Marshall?
He's got those slide pieces, right?
That would imply he has a main pitch.
That's true.
He pretty much wards that off lately, it would seem.
Yes, I didn't even know I could walk into that joke.
But just a fabulous game all around from the White Sox.
And on a bobblehead giveaway night, which was fun too.
Whose was it?
Was it Midroth? Was that the Chase Middorf?
Was it? No, no. That was Monday when I was there.
We would know if it was mydra.
I didn't get there in time for a Chase Miseraw-Haw-Hed.
I forgot what night I was watching the post-game show and they had the bobblehead.
It should be Sam Antonacci because we're not even talking about that guy.
I mean, he had a blistering single up the middle early in the game when the game was still on the line that got past the pitcher.
He was Sam Antanachi.
Go ahead and hit me, I dare you.
Three for four with three RBIs last night, the left-handed.
hitter, Antanachi. Did you see Nishita messing with Antinacci in the dugout too?
I did not. They were just teammates having fun, playing with joy.
That's what those, that's what you just, you just said the word. That is the word of the white socks. The white socks are a joy. Again, I don't know where it's going. They, I don't care. Where we're going, we don't need roads.
Well, I just, I don't want them to regress, though. So I don't want to see them all of a sudden. Like, I feel confident. It's kind of hard to not regress from like that pitching performance at 15 runs.
Mark, you know.
Well, no.
How about this, Leila?
I'll see with that and raise you a Davis Martin.
He pitches tonight.
Today.
Today.
Today.
Davis Martin today.
Ryan Porth, go into the game today.
Our program director.
All right.
Ryan Porth.
Bye,
sir.
Must be nice.
Must be nice to be able to just go to this.
I have a few friends going to the socks game today.
You're right.
I got asked if I could play hooky and I was like, no, I have to talk about sports to
then watch the sports.
Guys, we're going to the White Sox game.
Ray, gas up the score.
vehicle.
All right.
By the way,
on your bobblehead,
your White Sox bobblehead calendar.
The Kyle Teal and Edgar Carrow
Bobblehead is Saturday,
May 30th.
What was last night,
though?
There was nothing.
It was the night before last.
I got mixed up.
Okay.
I'm a glitch in the Matrix.
So yeah,
that's on the 30th.
And Colson Montgomery Bobblehead
on Saturday, June 13th.
Okay.
I just saw the post game show and they had the
bobblehead.
Maybe they,
I forget what night they had it.
But that's the stuff.
When people are making jokes, when you get the props,
the bobbleheads, the giveaways, and everybody's hitting,
and then the pitching is good.
And the guy who makes his debut retires 18 straight batters,
you really can't ask for more.
No, you cannot.
And we'll see what David Spartan,
and with his 7-1 record and 204 ERA does tonight against Tage badly,
Badly, Badly, Badly.
Yeah, that sounds like to me, the pronunciation.
What?
Sox dub.
Soxed, oh, yeah.
They beat the Giants when Davis Martin was on the hill in San Francisco.
When Leila makes predictions, they come true.
Not always.
If I could predict my life, I'd be in a much different place right now.
I would like to know what predictions you would like to make for yourself and your personal life.
Would you like to share it with 50,000 watts of radio right now, Leila?
I'm going to do laundry this weekend.
Does that count?
Absolutely that counts.
Good enough.
Guys, I try to do laundry on my weekdays because, like, why would I do chores?
on the weekend and inevitably I end up doing chores on the weekend.
It's really easy to put off doing laundry.
It's like, what else am I doing?
I could do laundry while I'm watching the game.
Do you have in unit?
Yes.
Laundry.
Yeah, it's a flex.
You have no excuse.
Right, but no.
So there's my life prediction.
Layla will put off laundry yet again until her days off like a dork.
Got that.
Put that in the open for tomorrow.
Butte.
There you go.
I got you.
What compelling audio.
Okay.
So we have more from Hallis Hall and Mark's uncoverings
with the Bears coaching staff.
And we also have, I think, a question that a respected football mind asks.
And before you get all up in arms about it, let's try to look at this reasonably as a team.
Next.
