How we doing, everybody?
It's Rahimi and Grotie on 104.3 to score.
There should have been some celebration after yesterday.
I spent it watching the postgame show, but it was a fun day.
Wasn't that enough celebratory for you to have watched the White Sox game and then watch
the post game show?
I got to tell you, our guy, Anthony Kay, my guy, after a bit of an outing for him where he saw
a few batters, I was like, well, maybe he's.
this isn't the day. And then guess who showed up? Situational hitting. And Sean Burke. That too.
And Grant Taylor and the rest of the socks. They're amazing as we do welcome you into the program
officially. It is the Rahimi and Grotie show on 104.3. The score. We're open. The texts are coming in.
We're always refreshing. 312, 644, 67, 67. The White Sox beat the Guardians yesterday,
four to three to go up 2 in this best of five American League Division series. And for people,
who can't see us right now. Layla just gave the perfect reaction to hearing what the words I was
saying, and that's just the slow shake of the head. It's amazing what the White Sox have done
in this postseason. And it's also amazing that when we look at how they are doing it, Leila,
and it's this weird fine line between progressive thinking in a baseball organization, maybe
the future of baseball, the way the pitching staff is being used, and the bullpen is,
being used and the fine line.
The other part is, all the socks just don't have starters that they can put out there
to begin games and they're doing what they have to do.
So it's desperate versus meets progressive.
Does that make sense at all?
Oh, yeah, because it challenges group thinking baseball enough,
but then they also have a lineup that's good enough to hit their way out of it.
And that is my point in all of this too is, I think of the basketball phrase,
making your shots covers up a multitude of sins.
when you hit your way out of a lot of jams, guess what happens?
You win ball games.
And we see it again yesterday.
I mean, just again, the White Sox have good two strike approaches.
They have two out approaches.
You know, there's two out hitting on this team.
Like, I'm not complaining about the runners in scoring position number with this team.
Because you've got guys like your number nine batter coming through in clutch times.
You know, Braden Montgomery with the double, you know, that ends up taking the lead at
three to two. There were two players there in scoring position, and both of them ultimately end up
scoring because of Chase Midroth with the single, and then he advances. So, I mean, I just can't
say enough about how their lineup day in and day out will score run.
Chase Midroth. She's so good. And then previously, you know, Colson Montgomery doing what he
did, like in both the Houston series and this one, like you can count on your six, seven, eight, nine
hitters to do some things. And that's what's made this equally so impressive to me. Yeah, the pitching is
terrifying. But you at least know you've got a lineup that any spot in that lineup, you can get a
situational hit that can help you win you a ballgame. And that was as good of an example as any.
Right. And I don't even like when people are like, who are they going to start. I don't know.
I don't know who they're going to start. I kind of don't care who they're going to start because
you know that whoever starts, there's going to be somebody coming in shortly thereafter. And you
don't know who the hero in that pitching staff is going to be yesterday.
It was a couple of guys.
Sean Burke, five and a third, one run, one hit.
He retired 13 in a row at one point.
And I was worried about Sean Burke.
That's why none of this is predictable.
Sean Burke, the last time we saw him pitching against the Astros was a dud.
He gave up three home runs.
And going beyond their career innings, too, that's another factor.
All these pitchers for the White Sox are in no man's land.
right now. So that's why you can't predict what
Sean Burke is going to do. I didn't
think he was going to retire 13 in a row
yesterday. He gets pulled with two outs
in the eighth inning for Grant Taylor
who did allow a scary
triple. And he was getting,
there was some hard hit balls
against Grant Taylor yesterday. The Joe
Adele's, what was that, three or four
inches away from being a tie
ball game ball? I thought it was
tied up. Yeah, I mean, the perimeter
rules would dictate, if you didn't know them
well in Cleveland at that point, you're going
is that considered a home run in a way
because of where it hit on the wall
where it was just me being extra stressed.
But they survived that as well.
And that's the point.
But again, my droth helps get them to four to two.
You know, you get the insurance
with two outs from these guys.
And that is just so incredible to me.
And then there's the part where
I'm stressed after watching Anthony Kay
and then seeing what happened with the error
by, you know, part one of the shons
being Newcomb coming in.
Newcomb, that was a bad moment.
And listen to Will Vettable and how calm he is early in the game.
When Lauren Jabara is asking you the same thing that we're all asking,
do you have enough pitching?
Well, you went to your bullpen early.
How does that change how you deploy arms the rest of this game?
Yeah, you know, really the plan coming in as we evaluate their lineup
was going to be K-plus Nuke to get through DeLard of the second time.
So we're still in a good spot.
Nairator, they were in a good spot.
Well, and he had made Will Venable, and I wonder how White Sox fans felt about this.
I didn't really do the deep dive on White Sox Twitter yesterday on Will Venable because people are always quick to go after him.
But that was in the first inning, Guardian scored two off of Sean Newcomb on the chopper.
One run is legit.
Bad throw allows another run to score, throws the ball away.
But in that spot, when he comes into the game, Adele is at the plate.
Ball won, and Will Venable says, you know what, I'm going to go ahead and walk these bases loaded.
Right. And you're like, hmm, because Adele had like struck out four times in the preview.
Like, he's been a strikeout or nothing guy.
But then even in the series that they had in the regular season, the last regular season series they had,
I was like, oh, that's why they traded for that guy.
Yeah.
Like you knew he could, he had a good September, you know, Joe Dell did.
Yeah, no doubt he did.
So he walks him with the bases loaded, and then Lowe comes up and then does the damage.
I mean, it was not like to defend Newcomb a little bit.
That's a chopper.
It's not a hard hit ball, any of that stuff.
But he made a terrible throw in that spot, did Newcomb.
So that's a scary moment.
But I kind of felt Will Vennable.
Cleveland does not look scary at all.
Like this is, and I said this in our pre-show meeting, and maybe I shouldn't even bring it to the air.
but I will.
I'm not even worried.
I hope the White Sox win tomorrow.
I really do because they'd be partying like it was 1906.
The last time the White Sox clinch a playoff series at home,
and it would be great because it's going to be a blackout game.
The White Sox are going to win this series.
Cleveland just looks like a dead team right now,
and that's not to take any credit away from the White Sox
because they look really good and really smart and really timely
and really clutch with some of the performances that they're getting.
Cleveland kind of sucks right now.
I think that they're like at a bad, they're in a bad place right now at the wrong time,
kind of like the Cubs at the end of the season, like good team, good organization that looks
like they're done.
I just can't, I can't be that confident in counting them out, even with the White Sox,
clearly flipping home field.
And I felt really good after the first game.
But then to take the second game there and to do it against the guy who had the second
most strikeouts in baseball and Gavin Williams, like that's another part of this.
only Jacob Mizorowski had more strikeouts in the regular season.
So you got through what I think are there,
their two horses, right?
In Messick and Williams.
Great point.
With rest.
Yeah.
With rest.
But even then, even then, I'm just still so, like, I had to triple check.
I had to triple check.
I was like, that's not right.
It can't be 120 years.
Like, I know it is.
But then I, like, it's just one of those where your brain is psyching you out,
even though you know the numbers.
Yeah.
And then you're trying to absorb it.
So that's still where I am with all of this.
Gavin Williams, by the way, to your point, the White Sox won the game where the opposing team starter had 11 strikeouts in the game.
So, like, Cleveland is throwing everything they possibly can at the White Sox, and the socks are just like, get out of here.
Real quick here, speaking of that.
I like the text.
Get to the choppa.
I mean, that's how you feed.
Yes, get out of there before they change the score on you.
Go.
Get out.
Exactly.
There's no doubt.
And the texture to Grody.
Get your ice cream.
Goody, you weren't at Journey last night?
It was a badass concert.
Yeah, isn't that awesome journey at the United Center last night?
Don't stop believing vibes out at the UC.
Incredible.
No Steve Perry, though.
And I have seen that version of Journey, by the way.
I thought they did have Steve Perry back.
I don't think he's back.
Am I missing it?
Did Steve Perry slide back in?
I don't think so.
We can only keep up with so much.
Yeah, little Steve.
And they were having fun with it appropriately.
Chuck and Ozzie were having fun with it on the Post Game show.
Yeah, because they do the show from the United Center.
And then of course
Don't Stop Believe in was the theme.
So I can't say I'm
Even that feels
special.
The Don't Stop Believe in
Like when you hear the song.
Well, just the journey was playing that night.
Oh, no, no doubt.
No, I love that.
That was great.
I mean, no, by the way, no Steve Perry.
Okay, no Steve Perry.
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Yeah.
I had heard that maybe he was back with them or something.
There were rumors.
Okay, that's what it was.
And then he came out and denied the rumors.
Oh, so I didn't hear the follow up to the rumors.
That's why you are who you are, Ray Diaz.
The guy that does it.
The lead singer is pretty good, though.
I mean, I guess you better be pretty good and sound enough like Steve Perry if you're going to replace Steve Perry.
Because Steve Perry is thought of he is your favorite lead singer's favorite lead singer in a lot of cases.
Like people like rock stars.
Has an incredible octave range.
Oh, yeah.
You can say what you want to say about Journey.
There's a little cheese in Journey.
There's a little cheese.
There's no doubt about it.
But that man right there is one of the best, one of the greatest lead singers of all time.
So if you went to the UC last night, I hope you enjoyed yourself.
Yeah, we have a couple of people who did it on our text line, so that's good to know.
And then we also have people who I agree with, 224.
Also, don't jinx this, Grody.
We've seen the Guardians' devil magic before.
Exactly.
I hear you.
Exactly 224.
I ain't counting anybody out.
I'm not going to be afraid to say it.
I know what I'm seeing with Cleveland.
And I just, I hope the White Sox just knock them out tomorrow.
so we didn't have finish him that's right yeah take him out take him out sweep the leg do what you
have to do let's keep this party cooking we got a white socks party going on here in our studios today
i don't i don't feel comfortable saying that even really i don't want to mess with the fates
okay well we can feel good we're not going to come in here and be droopy about the white socks
i don't know if i can call it a party okay i'm party and lela's not we'll see maybe russ doris
i'm quietly happy russ dora
will be the mood decider.
How about that?
Yeah, he can be the deciding vote, the tiebreaker.
My little party, your realism going on.
I don't know how you guys feel.
I'm just, I can't like verbalize everything.
Can I tell you how I feel about this?
Because maybe you feel the same way.
Don't use the P word.
I'm already.
No.
Where you're on the street.
Hey, I want some party.
Whoa.
No, I'm talking about the one that's like, you know.
Not that word.
No, like where you're on the street and then everybody walks in a line and, you know,
there's, don't use that word.
Okay.
Oh, okay.
It rhymes with lemonade.
Got you.
Ray?
Oh, yeah, quickly how I feel about it is.
I'm happy for the White Sox, but I'm a Cubs fan, so I feel like I can enjoy this without
all the pressure of like my favorite team is in this.
I feel like, you know, like I would be kind of dreading if the Cubs are in this position.
Like, oh, man, it's going to fall apart at any minute.
But I'm kind of just like, because I'm just enjoying this.
And I do want the White Sox to keep going.
And I'm like, nobody move.
Everybody stand right where you are.
And that's how I would feel.
That's how I would feel
with the Cubs.
You can't change.
You can't change clothes.
Like, I don't need to change in anything.
I don't think it's to the level of Patrick Mahomes.
Definitely change skivies.
But, like, and brush your teeth.
But elsewhere, other than that, I'm like, nobody move.
Everybody wrap yourselves in bubble wrap right now.
I cracked open a new container of Old Spice today.
I went with, I know I was going with the bear glove.
No bear glove this time.
I went with swagger.
That's why I'm sounding grown up today.
Go back to bear glove.
Go back to bear glove.
the bear glove right now.
Brody, that's my favorite one.
Swagger.
You go swagger?
That's right.
It was a quick decision.
I went to CVS.
I took a late night CBS walk.
I was like, I got to get, you know what?
I saw the swagger.
Sports walk.
That's what it was.
It was a post sports walk.
Old Spice keeps sending me, their PR team keeps sending me like
influencer emails asking how I incorporate Old Spice into my game day routine.
And I'm like, well, I'm a woman.
So I don't.
But I do talk a lot about bear glove.
That's true.
because I did.
I was a bear glove guy
until I was a swagger guy.
But if you think I need to get
bare glove again,
I won't purchase some bear glove.
Nobody move.
Tell you what,
let's get to Russ.
We got to get to Russ Dorsey.
Get his deodorant sense.
And I know your dad's not moving
because Ricky will not kill the vibe.
I bet Russ.
Russ smells good.
He probably has designer deodorant.
It would be my guess.
He probably gets his online
from a special place.
That's my guess about Russ Dorsey.
We'll find out next.
We're going to continue to talk about the white socks
next with our guy,
Russ Dorsey.
This is absolutely Rehemi and Grotie on 1043, the score.
I am marinated in Marri-Glove.
Heck yeah, it's Rahimi and Grotie on 104.
The score, Russ and Dorsey will be at the rate for the big game.
Tomorrow, White Sox and Guardians game three and a best of five,
which with the White Sox lead two to nothing as we speak.
This segment is being brought to you by almost free teat.com.
Save on dental implants today.
And Russ is joining us on our video stream to watch, search the score Chicago on Twitch and YouTube.
Russ Dorsey, what's going on, man?
what's going on, guys.
How are we feeling?
We're feeling pretty good.
I will try to characterize it properly.
I feel like partying with the White Sox
because I don't think they can be stopped
in this particular series
against that particular team.
Layla's taking a few deep breaths,
trying to be realistic about things.
Where do you stand on it?
Because I just don't think
the White Sox are going to be stopped
against the Guardians in this series.
I don't think anybody cares what I think right now grows.
I want to hear why
Layla, does she not think that the socks can be stopped?
It's just that I, come on, Russ.
They got their first playoff win in Houston since 2005.
Then they get their first playoff series win since 2005.
Now they have the chance to do something at home that they haven't done in 120 years.
I just don't.
Which is crazy.
You know, I think about the Rick Holland that got used against him in the last version of the
rebuild and I just, you know, I just really, I just don't want to be overconfident here.
And I feel like every time I assume Cleveland is out of something, they're not.
Jose Ramirez exists to me.
And while I am happy to see what happened in the first two games, does he exist?
I just, uh, exactly.
See, I don't like tempting face.
Russ.
I just don't like doing it.
Here's my thing, Leela.
I hear you talking from like a place of trauma been hurt before in White Sox history.
and you can't live life that way.
It's not even white socks.
It's just my own baseball life.
Like it goes back to other issues like 2011 world series.
Let's work on this then.
No,
this isn't about me.
That's the point.
Wherever you heard, show me on the doll where you were here now.
I was heard of the baseballs.
You can't go from year to year thinking about, well, this happened this one time and
then this happened.
If I'm watching, if I'm going off of this series,
which every series is its own thing.
The Chicago White Sox have proven through the first two games of a five-game series,
they are a better team than the Cleveland Guardians.
They've pitched better.
They've come up with big hits more.
You talk about Jose Ramirez.
That is not Jose Ramirez.
No.
Playing for the Cleveland Guardians right now.
Like that is somebody completely different.
Tim Anderson would kick his ass.
You know, Tim Anderson.
I'm not going to say all that.
I'm not going to say all that.
Steve, you have a line too.
What I will say is Jose Ramirez is a perennial MVP.
candidate that when he comes up in a big moment, he strikes fear into you. That's not the
Jose Ramirez that we're seeing right now. And I don't know, I know he had the handmade bone
injury early. I know what that injury does to a player, saps the power, takes a long time for
that thing to regain the strength. I don't know if that's still bothering him, but he does
not look like that same guy right now. I have no confidence that anybody in that Cleveland
Guardians lineup outside of maybe Chase DeLotter, Travis Bazzana, if he gets a hold of something,
can really do damage.
And maybe last night you see a couple of balls that they hit deep to left center field
on a night that's not chilly.
Maybe those balls hit the wall or go out in different circumstances.
But in the circumstances that the White Sox had, they didn't.
And I think the White Sox should be given a lot of credit for the way that they've played
through the first two games of the series and through this entire postseason.
And I think I looked at them going into the posing and said, well, they don't do this well.
They don't have pitching.
I don't know if this bullpenning thing work.
And they say, you know, Russ, take all those opinions and shove it.
And so I'm done counting out the Chicago White Sox, especially in this series.
If you go into the next series and you move on past Cleveland and you play the Tampa Bay race, fine.
That's a really good baseball team that's doing a lot of things well right now.
But until then, I believe in the Chicago White Sox that they can get this thing done.
I think I knew.
I think maybe the moment I knew in this series was game one.
when Anthony Kay comes in in the fourth inning
and Brian Rokio comes up in a big spot
and they get him to line out because he's just,
he has crushed souls this year
against a lot of teams.
So I kind of knew it at that moment.
But Russ Dorsey, I do want to ask you about
what has been the Grant Taylor experience in this postseason.
He does it again yesterday.
What do you have you thought about him
and what do you think about how long this can last,
however much longer the White Sox are a part of this with Grant Taylor?
And really, Russ, a lot of these pitchers,
in no man's land in terms of the demand that has been put on their arms relative to their past,
which is usually very small for these guys because they're all young.
Yeah, you're running off of adrenaline right now, Groton.
When you get to this time of year, a lot of guys are.
Guys are banged up.
Guys have met their innings limits or limitations or where they were at career highs.
None of that matters in October.
You're going to take the baseball and you're going to throw it.
And I look at Grant Taylor and I see a guy that with every outing, it appears,
that he is gaining more and more confidence.
And I think that's something that is a great thing for the Chicago White Sox.
Overall, when I look at how the White Sox have had to put the puzzle pieces in place
of how they have tried to optimize their bullpen right now,
Will Venables done a great job in terms of what matchups work for that moment, right?
Going from, you know, Anthony Kay to, you know, what Sean Burke did.
I want to say something.
Sean Burke had the best outing I've seen him have in maybe eight weeks.
Like that's the Sean Burke that we saw in June and July when he was one of the best
pitchers in the American League.
If you get that version of Sean Burke, you feel really good if you're the Chicago White Sox.
And if you move on to the ALCS, yes, he's going to have to like make an actual start,
not this tandem start thing.
And you feel really good if that guy that you saw in the back half of that game can give you
five innings. But I think for the White Sox, when you look at what they've been able to do,
things have fallen into place. And look, Gavin Williams was phenomenal yesterday. And yet the
White Sox were like, Gavin Williams, that was a really good start. We have our bullpen game and
you can't stop it. And it worked. You are right about that. If there was ever truth to the whole
pockets of the order and pockets of the game, that seems to be Will Vennible managing this for us
pretty free and easy. We just talked about the comments he made during the game to Lauren Jabbar,
the sideline reporter for TBS, who asked him about what had happened after the Anthony K.
Outing, and then Newcomb comes on, and he was calm, and he said this was the plan, and the plan
yet again worked. And that's, that's, I think, I don't know how many times we sit here and go,
I don't know if it's going to work this time, and then it's continued to do so.
Hey, you look like a genius when it works, and that's what Will Vinnable looks like right now. Like,
Until one of those guys has a blow up, it won't matter.
And as long as the White Sox are winning games and popping champagne, it won't matter.
And so I look at them going into game three in front of a crowd that has been waiting for a big moment.
That is wait, that no now.
If the socks were trailing, it would still be crazy.
If it was a 1-1 series, it would still be crazy.
Being up two to nothing and having a playoff game in your home ballpark to clinch a spot in the ALCS for the first time,
since 2005. That place is going to be nuts tomorrow. And I'm really excited to see how things unfold.
All right. So let's look ahead to that. And I feel like this is like the hardest question I can
possibly ask. Who will be, who will throw the first pitch for the White Sox in the actual game? I'm not
talking about the ceremonial stuff. Who starts? Who starts? Who starts? Who starts? I mean, like,
where's Davis Martin been? Does he, does he get a, does he get an inning or two? Like it's, it's just every
everybody and anybody's on the table.
How do you think they line up the pitching for that game tomorrow?
That's a good question.
It's the hardest question there is right now because it could be anybody.
Because you're up to nothing, does that change how you go about it?
Right?
Because it's not nuke him anymore.
Yeah.
Because he did it yesterday.
Like, do you go.
Hagen Smith, you go back to Hagen Smith?
Do you go back to Hagen Smith?
Maybe.
I would.
Yeah.
Especially with a two nothing.
thing lead. He's your best at this opener thing. And if he can give you two plus innings,
you probably feel really good about the back half of the game, especially because the
socks have had the advantageous schedule where you have game off day, game off day game.
And so your bullpen is probably more rested than it would normally be in a five or seven
game series. So I don't see a problem with going back to Hagen Smith, if you're the Chicago.
some Eric Fetty, a dash of
Eric Fetty in there.
We just had a dash of
Eric Fetty.
I think Anthony K gets a day off.
You're in charge
about the K. Anthony K.
probably gets a day off.
You're not going to see Sean Burke.
So those are two.
Grant Taylor.
We saw Davis Martin.
When was it? That's a great
question. It has been a little while.
Yeah. So maybe he's your bulk
guy? Maybe.
I can't see him not
getting into the mix.
Because if you're trying to look ahead, if you're the
White Sox, if you win
and then you move on,
you're going to have to have guys lined up
to make actual starts.
Because the bullpen thing
works in a three and five games.
But in the seven game series,
you actually need guys to make
real starts.
And so, you know what I mean?
Well, and that's why what we saw from
Sean Burke was so important yesterday. And who
knows how that changes the trajectory if he doesn't come in as a bullpen guy or his mental
like the way he the way he's processing it but to your point russ to see sean burke as you said
pitch as well as he did in the last eight weeks and looking a little bit like he did in june and
july that could portend well if the white socks do indeed make it to the next round because like
in a seven game series like if we're just going to say all right socks move on k and burke would
likely make a actual start in a seven game series wow right right
Maybe Davis Martin makes a start.
Now, you could still do the tandem thing with, all right,
Eric Fetty follows at one of those guys.
Maybe he follows multiple guys.
But you're going to have to pick and choose who makes a bulk start for you
or takes the bulk of the innings.
But yeah, as far as tomorrow, I know we're getting ahead of ourselves.
I'm like, all right, if you move on, you get in trouble doing that.
And we can do that as pundits.
But for the White Sox, you have to win that day's game.
You start thinking about, well, tomorrow we can do this and then the next thing.
That's how you mess around and now it's game five in Cleveland.
And you're just like, oh, we messed up.
But I think the White Sox are in a fantastic position.
You've afforded yourself the opportunity to play the hand that's in front of you and it's a pretty good hand.
Well, and David Sandlund is another.
I mean, he's on the ALDS roster.
He and Davis Martin both are.
So I have to think that somehow, some way those two are getting into the mix and either
tomorrow's game or the possible next one.
Noah Schultz. Yeah, man. It's like and it's all
been working. Our Russ, the most important question we do
have to let you go. What kind of deodorant do you use?
Oh, that's not where I thought that question
was going at all. Yeah, no, that's where it's going
because I made this with the old spice switch. I went from
Bear Glove to Old Spice Swagger and people are
imploring me to go back to Bear Glove because somehow that's
like better luck, I guess. People is me.
I told him not to change. Yeah.
Yeah. She's don't go changing.
So I said that you might have designer deodorant for Russ Dorsey.
I'm a Dove men's care guy.
Okay.
All right.
Smells really good.
Yeah.
I think my two and one shampoo conditioner, I believe, is Dove.
So, yeah.
Oh, by the way, gross.
If that's what you do, you should stop doing that.
Oh, really?
Actual shampoo and an actual conditioner.
Okay.
Okay.
I hear you.
All right.
I will.
I guess I need to make another stop at CBS on my walk home today.
Yeah, I love CBS.
For your birthday, Grotes, I'm going to have to put like a little,
little Russ men's care package for you.
I love this.
I appreciate it.
Russ, you're the best, man.
Enjoy, enjoy the rate.
We look forward to talking to you next time.
Thanks, guys.

Coming up next,
what will Bears running back
DeAndre Swift's role be going forward?
It's crazy. We're asking that question.
When we return, we will give you the why
on Rahimi and Grody on 104.3,
the score. It is Rahimi and Grody
on 104. 3, the score. There has been
a little bit of a mystery
going on with the Chicago Bears,
and it's not Kyler Gordon. It's
DeAndre Swift to fump
the other day and didn't really see him much in the second half of that Bears win over the New York Jets.
And it left a lot of people wondering was DeAndre Swift benched in the game?
And Ben Johnson didn't really commit to that language after the game, only to say that it didn't have anything to do with an injury.
So I thought we got a little bit more clarification.
And I want to play this for everybody from yesterday's Zoom with Ben Johnson.
He met with the media yesterday.
And it was asked this question by Weedman.
Dan Weiderer regarding D'Andre Swift.
Ben, on the Swift fumble, small picture lens,
what was your kind of vantage point on where that occurred and how it occurred?
And then big picture, how do you communicate with him in terms of how he regains kind of opportunity?
Yeah.
I think, I think small picture lens like you're talking about,
it was one of those things that we felt a lot of confidence,
just how we're moving the ball throughout that day,
that that was really what was going to hold us back
as if we shout ourselves in the foot.
And so we can't have it.
Everybody on the team knows that.
And it certainly is a little bit of a buzzkill
when you have a low momentum going.
It feels like we're moving the football.
Second down, I believe it was,
and we're going to make it third manageable.
And, you know, it's just, like I said,
it's a credit to our defense being able to step in
and stop the bleeding in a lot of ways.
You know, there's really no message that needs to be said to anybody.
Nobody wants to put the ball on the ground.
Nobody wants to turn it over.
Nobody wants to drop the ball.
You know, it's just we all have to have short memories.
We've got to learn from it.
And coaches, players, all of us, we're going to do some things that we don't like at times.
Could be a bad play call on my end.
Could be a mistackle by our defense.
You know, all those things.
They happen.
Learn from it and move on.
Will he have his same role going forward this week as he had
last week?
Once again, we'll see what it looks like throughout the week.
Each role's determined through the week of practice.
And that's the one that got me.
And see.
Yeah, it's one thing to bring up everything in the way Ben Johnson did,
which was reasonable and understandable.
And he, of course, taking accountability the way he does even in that soundbite.
But at the end of the day, that fumble was costly to D'Andre Swift.
He did not get a carry after that fumble.
Roshan Johnson, who I thought was in the doghouse, suddenly reappeared on that drive.
Yes, when it wasn't the Kyle Menungai show, it was Roshan Johnson spelling him for a successful run, as you mentioned.
11 yards is successfully moving the chains as we know.
So that was the other part of this was, oh, suddenly somebody who I thought was not very valued has suddenly become valued in this equation.
It is clear that there's an issue there of some kind.
for Ben Johnson to so readily give you the information of Tyson,
Bajun is who we're going with this week.
I'm sorry.
Then to turn around and in the other breath say,
we're going to reeval,
we're going to evaluate his role throughout the week.
Ben Johnson,
who you crappin is all I have to say about that.
What are you talking about?
He uses the language,
Buzzkill.
He then said,
it's no message being sent to anyone,
even though he was benched.
And then he says,
we're not committing to anybody. It depends on who practices well this week.
Just come out and say it because it's good. The standard is the standard, right?
If you're not meeting the standard, even if you're DeAndre Swift, who had 124 yards and three
touchdowns in his first game at Carolina, come out and say it, man. Who are you crapping, Ben Johnson?
I've got nothing to add there. I think you added a lot, actually.
Yeah, I mean, I'm looking at it. It doesn't look any better when you read it on a piece of paper, by the way.
Once again, we'll see what it looks like throughout the week.
Each role is determined through the week of practice.
Right. And he was sort of stumped by that too.
I mean, if he's really going with the no message sent and all of that kind of stuff,
he would have been like DeAndre Swift is our number one running back.
The way Tyson Baygent, as he proclaimed, hey, he's the number two running back for a reason.
Why couldn't he say that about DeAndre Swift?
He's your number one running back for a reason who just got paid, Ben.
So you honor the depth chart for one position on your offense, but the depth chart
on another position on your offense is not as set.
What did you do, DeAndre Swift?
Is there more to this than we even know other than a little bit of regression?
I mean, the first game was awesome for him in the Minnesota game.
16 carries 45 yards, zero TDs, 2.8 yards per carry and the fumble.
And the fumble.
Which I do put a slight excuse there because of the crappy conditions and the ball was being.
It was raining.
It was nasty out that day.
It is not as easy to hold.
Hold on to a football in the rain.
No, it's not.
So I will, yeah, that has to be given right there.
The Philadelphia game, 20 carries, 84 yards, 0 TDs, 4.2 yards per average.
But, I mean, like, I don't mind it.
Like, I'm not mad the idea that that Kyle Munnungi would get more of the carries or, hey,
DeAndre Swift, you need to play better, but just come out and say it.
Come out and say it.
Coming up next, let's continue to talk about the Bears and Patrick Manley, who does a great job
with his hits here on the score. He does an awesome job
on the pre and post game show and he is a
diligent watcher of film.
So we will get his take on
what he saw in this Bears game
against the Jets, a closer look, and
maybe we'll even look ahead to the Green Bay Packers
with Patrick Manley as well, who has had his fair
share of Bears Packers games as well.
It's all coming up on Rahimi and
Grody on 1043, The Score.
