Erik Maund is a wealthy former Texas auto dealer executive who orchestrated a brutal double murder-for-hire plot after becoming the target of an extortion scheme. In early 2020, Maund traveled to Nashville and had an extramarital affair with a woman named Holly Williams. When Williams' estranged boyfriend, William Lanway, discovered the affair and threatened to expose it to Maund's wife unless he paid him a sum of money, Maund chose to hire private security operatives and former military personnel instead of going to the police.

So what do you do when you find out that your girlfriend is secretly a prostitute? Now, this all starts with Bill, and Bill is 36 living in Nashville, Tennessee, and Bill, he's a part-time mechanic, but he really doesn't have a steady job, so he's kind of broke. He also just moved into his girlfriend's apartment, and they have an extremely chaotic relationship. Like, he's just jealous and controlling and abusive, and it's not good for her. He apparently roughs her up quite often. And one day, in 2019, he's snooping through her phone, and he discovers the worst thing that he could discover.

He discovers that his girlfriend is secretly an escort. You know, like smashing with dudes for money. Now, his girlfriend is this woman, Layla Love. Now, the problem with all this is, like I said, Bill, he doesn't make a lot of money, so he's financially dependent on Layla Love. Like he can't pay his bills without her. So he can't leave.

So then how does he react to finding out his girlfriend is an escort? Well, he steals her phone again and he snoops through it and he gets her client list. So now he has all these random dudes numbers and one by one he calls them and he threatens these guys. He says that if they don't break off their business with Layla Love, he's going to rat them out to their wives. And at least one time Bill does find it. guy's wife and he rats the dude out. So Layla Love starts losing some clients over this. But she's not gonna stop escorting. That's her livelihood. So this toxic relationship between Bill and Layla Love continues. And it's now 2020. And one day she gets a text from a client. This guy, Eric.

And Eric is a repeat client of hers and this dude is rich, rich. And like he didn't even earn this well, like he inherited it. He's an executive at his family's automotive group, so they own a bunch of car dealerships, and so he lives with his wife in a 7,000 square foot mansion next to a country club. Now, despite the fact that he's married and has a kid, he hits up Layla Love and he says that he's going to be in Nashville soon to visit his son in college, and while he's there, he'd like to get together and smash. And so later, Eric comes to town and they get together. And they get together at a hotel and they hook up and after his trip he leaves and he goes back home to Austin, Texas, where he's from. But Bill, he's still a jealous and controlling guy. And at one point,

he snoops through Layla Love's phone again and he finds a text thread between her and Eric and he gets super pissed off. And so he goes and he looks up Eric on the internet and he realizes that the guy's family owns an automotive group and that he's very wealthy. So Bill gets the idea to blackmail him. And so Bill gets Eric's number and he texts him anonymously. And he says that he needs him to pay him $25,000 or he's going to expose the fact that he's been seeing an escort to his wife and family and that he needs to pay him by March 11th. And when Eric gets this text, he freaks the hell out. I mean, this is not only going to screw up his marriage, but it's going to destroy his reputation among his country club society friends.

And so he panics, and he has no idea who's trying to blackmail him. So he turns to the only person he can think of for help. This guy, Galad. And Galad works in private security, and he's done some work for Eric's auto business in the past, plus he used to be a private bodyguard for Charlie Sheen of all people. So, you know, that's cool. Anyway, Eric tells Galad that he's being blackmailed. And Galad's like, we'll just go to the police, bro.

But Eric doesn't want to go to the police. Because that would mean that he'd have to admit that he was sleeping with an escort. So he tells Galad, find out who's blackmailing me. So Galad goes and he hires some goons to help him out with his task. And these goons, they start looking into Layla Love, thinking that maybe they can find the blackmailer that way. And so they find her real identity and where, where she lives in Nashville, and then the goons travel from Austin all the way over to Nashville

to start surveilling Layla Love, because they want to see if maybe she's involved in this extortion plot too. And once they're there, the goons do some surveillance of her, and they start looking into her background, and they discover that she has this on-again-off-again boyfriend named Bill, who is broke and has kind of a history of violence. And so they start to figure, yeah, it must be Bill who's making her. all these money demands. Meanwhile, it's now March 11th, the deadline that Bill gave Eric to pay him the money. So of course, Eric hasn't paid him any money. So Bill calls the landline at Eric's home.

And Eric just happens to answer and Bill's like, you need to pay me by 8 o'clock tonight. And this makes Eric freak the fuck out because he knows Bill is serious. Plus, the guy called his house and his wife could have been there and his wife could have picked up and his adultery would have been exposed. So now at this point, Eric knows that if he wants this problem to go away, he needs to get rid of Bill for good. And Eric, he's never had a problem that couldn't be solved with money. So he's just going to pay someone to assassinate him. And so later, the goons call Galad and offer to assassinate Bill for $120,000. And after that, they call again and they say they need to assassinate Layla Love as well for $200,000 total.

Now Galad, who's just a middleman at this point, he knows that Eric is desperate to remedy this situation and he decides to take advantage of him. So Galad hits up Eric and instead of charging $200,000 like the goons asked for, he decides to charge $750,000. And all that extra money is going right to him. Now, Eric, he has a choice here. I mean, the guy's family is rich. He could just go and pay Bill the $25,000 extortion money with no problem. But that's not what he does. He wants Bill dead.

And to him, it's worth this $750,000. So he agrees to pay Galad. The next night, the goons show up to Layla Love's apartment complex, and they wait around in the parking lot. And eventually, Bill and Layla Love come out and they get into her car. And right then, the goons approach, and they've got guns. And blam! Blam! They shoot Bill. Then, they steal the car that Layla Love is in, and they drive away, and they kidnap Leila Love. And while they're driving, blam! One of them shoots her, and this, unfortunately, kills her.

Then the goons take the car to a big construction area, and there's an embankment there, And they let the car roll down the embankment and crash into a tree because they're trying to make this look like Bill and Layla Love died in a car accident. Which of course isn't going to work because they both have bullet holes in them. Anyway, meanwhile, after the murders, Eric just goes right back to his normal rich guy life. And they start looking at Bill's phone logs and they see that he had been texting

with this guy in Texas, Eric. So now, because this case crosses state lines, the FBI gets involved. And the FBI is able to identify one of the goons as being in the area at the time of the murders and they pull his phone records and they see his communications with Galad.

And eventually, bam, the FBI is able to arrest the two goons. Here's one of their mugshots. Here's the other mugshot. Then, bam, they arrest Galad. Here's his mugshot. And eventually, the feds get glad to flip on Eric, and so bam, they arrest him too.

Here's his mug shot. And so ultimately, Glad takes a plea deal, and as of the time of me making this video, he hasn't been sentenced yet. The two go to trial, they're found guilty, and they also haven't been sentenced yet. While Eric also goes to trial, and he's found guilty,

and he also hasn't been sentenced. yet. So no one's been sentenced.
