In early 2017, William "Billy" Boyette and accomplice Mary Rice led law enforcement on a violent, week-long manhunt across the Florida Panhandle and South Alabama. The spree began on January 31 with the double homicide of Boyette's ex-girlfriend and her friend in Milton, Florida, followed by two more fatal shootings during carjackings and home invasions in Alabama and Beulah, Florida.

So this guy is an absolute psychopath. Now the dude's name is Billy, and Billy is 44 when this story starts, and he's living in Florida. And here's the thing about Billy. Billy's got some serious anger issues. Like when he gets mad, he gets physical. Like he'll punch people and whatnot. And because of that, he's been in and out of prison for assault and domestic violence over the years. Here's a mugshot if you want to see.

But now he's out. However, there's a problem. Prison didn't change him. Like, he still has all of those anger issues. And to make it worse, he also has a drug problem. So it's only a matter of time before things get out of control. Like one day in 2017, he's hanging out with his girlfriend, this woman, Alicia, and they're at her house. And Billy, he's been using drugs, and so he's all high now and paranoid. And at some point, he decides he wants to get even more high. But he can't find his drugs. Maybe someone stole them, maybe he used them all and forgot. We don't actually know. But in his paranoid state, his mind immediately jumps to Alicia, and he starts accusing her of stealing from him. So they start arguing, and they get into a huge

fight. And that is when Billy completely loses it. And suddenly, pow, he attacks Alicia, and he starts choking her. Then he kicks her in the face, then bam, he smashes an unopened bottle of soda on her head. And so she's clearly injured at this point and she needs medical attention. But Billy, he doesn't want to let her leave to get help. So he just holds her hostage there in her own house. Now eventually, he takes her car and he leaves, leaving her behind to suffer. And after a bit of time, Alicia manages to gather enough strength to call a taxi and the taxi takes her to the hospital. While she's there, she contacts police. And so police arrive and she starts explaining to them that Billy attacked her and that she wants to press charges against him.

So now police have a warrant out for Billy's arrest. A few days later, Alicia is discharged from the hospital and she knows it's not safe to go back home. I mean, Billy could show up there. So eventually she checks into a motel to lay low for a while, at least until police catch Billy. And while at the motel, she asks a friend of hers to come stay with her. So that friend comes over and stays with her for a while and keeps her company. Meanwhile, Billy hears that Alicia talk to the cops and that there's a warrant out for his arrest. And he gets super pissed off, and he goes looking for her.

And eventually he somehow finds out where she's staying and he shows up to the motel. And there he threatens her and he tells her to drop the charges or else he'll kill her. But Alicia, she's done putting up with his nonsense. She knows that if she backs down now, this is bound to happen again, to her or to someone else. So she doesn't back down. She tells him that she's not going to drop the charges. and Billy ultimately ends up leaving. But he's still mad, and he starts thinking about all this.

I mean, he really doesn't want to go to prison, and if police catch him, Alicia will definitely testify against him, and he can't let that happen. So he comes up with an insane idea. What if he just murders Alicia? I mean, that way, there would be no one to press charges against him. So here's where the story gets dark. Now that Billy's got this new plan, he goes back to the motel, where Alicia is, back to her room, and he knocks on the door.

And I don't know if he's pretending to be nice or what, but as soon as she opens the door, Billy enters the room and he pulls out a pistol. And blam, blam, he shoots Alicia. Then, blam, he shoots her friend too. After that, he steals the keys to Alicia's rental car. And from there, he goes to pick up this woman, Mary. Now, here's the thing about Billy. Billy, he's a player. While he was dating Alicia, he was also secretly dating Mary.

So Billy goes to pick up Mary, and she knows something serious just went down between him and Alicia. But, for whatever reason, she agrees to stick by Billy and be his accomplice. And that's when these two decide that they're going to go on the run, and they flee the state. Meanwhile, back at the motel, police arrive. And they start investigating. And it doesn't take long for them to realize that Billy is responsible for these murders and that he stole Alicia's rental car. So they put out an alert for her missing rental car.

And a few days go by. And by now, Billy and Mary are over in Alabama. And they know they can't stick with this stolen rental car for long. I mean, they need to ditch it. And that is when they spot this car. Now, this particular car is being driven by a 52-year-old nurse. just coming home from a shift. And so Billy and Mary follow this nurse

all the way back to her house. And when the nurse parks and gets out and walks toward her front door, suddenly, blam, blam, Billy shoots her. Then he steals her keys and Billy and Mary both drive off in her car. But then, down the road, that car actually gets a flat tire.

So they pull over and they abandon it and they disappear into the woods. And there, in the woods, woods, they set up a little camp completely away from everyone off the grid. And two days go by. Now, maybe they're running low on supplies or maybe they just want to keep things moving. Either way, Billy and Mary both decide that they need yet another car. So they come out of the woods looking for one that they can steal. And that is when they spot a nearby house with one parked there. So Billy goes up and he knocks on the door and a woman answers. And as soon as she over,

opens the door, boom, Billy grabs her, and Mary ties her up. And then they steal the keys to her car. Then, for whatever reason, Billy decides to kill her anyway. And so, blam, blam, he shoots her. And unfortunately, she doesn't survive, and she also has an 18-month-old son there. Watching all of this go down. Luckily, Billy doesn't shoot him. He actually leaves him alone. But after that, they take the woman's car and they start driving. And they drive for a while and they eventually stop and they check into a motel. Meanwhile, police, they're still investigating all this, piecing things together. And they know that Billy and Mary have been out here murdering all these other women. And they release Billy and Mary's photos to the public, hoping that someone can identify them.

Until that very night Mary leaves the motel And she goes out to get some groceries So she drives that stolen car Over to the gas station And there, one of the attendants recognizes her, I guess from the news And quietly he calls the police

And so police show up And they low-key follow Mary back to the motel And as soon as she enters her motel room Boom, the SWAT team surrounds the building and they order Billy and Mary to come out. But Billy and Mary refuse. So now they're officially in a standoff. And this standoff goes on for three hours.

And eventually, Billy convinces Mary to go outside first. And she does. She goes outside. And as soon as she walks out, Billy takes a gun that he's got and blam. He unalives himself. And after that, bam, police arrest Mary. Here's her mugshot. And ultimately, Mary goes to trial and she's found guilty and she gets sentenced to life in prison.
