Starting point is 00:01:10 And here's the thing about Porco. He really, really wants to be seen as a rich kid, someone with wealthy parents. In fact, he wants this so bad that he lies to everyone on campus. He says his family is very well off, and they own multiple oceanfront homes, and he has this big inheritance coming one day. He even spends money that he even spends money
Starting point is 00:01:31 he doesn't really have in order to appear rich. He wears a lot of expensive clothes and he's always buying rounds of drinks for his friends. Like drinks are on me! Now the problem with spending money like this when you don't have it is eventually you run out. So Porco runs out. And so in 2002 he comes up with a diabolical plan to get some more. He'll just steal some of his parents' stuff and sell it on eBay. So one night, he's back at home at his parents' house for Thanksgiving break, and I guess they're
Starting point is 00:02:06 in the other room asleep, and Porco cuts the screen on a window to make it look like someone broke in, and he steals two of his parents' laptops. Later, he sells them on eBay, and he makes some cash. The next summer in 2003, he's on break from school again, staying with his parents, and he decides to rob this veterinary clinic where he's working. So he breaks into the clinic one night and he uses the code to disable the alarm and he steals a digital camera, a camcorder, some pocket computers and a cell phone. And again, he sells most of that on eBay and he makes some more cash.
Starting point is 00:02:43 A few months later, he's back in school for the semester. But then he gets kicked out because he's a terrible student and his grades suck. So now he has to move all the way back home and live with his parents. which Porco absolutely hates this idea. However, now that he's living back home, he sees this as an opportunity to steal from them again. And one night, that's what he does, the same thing he did before.
Starting point is 00:03:10 He waits until his parents are asleep, and he cuts a window screen to make it look like someone broke in, then he steals another laptop and he sells it on eBay later. After that, it's like 2004 now. He forges a college transcript, and he manages to get himself readmitted to the college that he got kicked out of previously in Rochester. The problem with that is that his parents no longer want to pay his tuition for him because he already flunked out of school the first time and they don't want to waste their money again.
Starting point is 00:03:42 So his shady ass goes and applies for a high-interest student loan for $32,000. And in order to qualify for this loan, he forges his dad's name as a co-signer. Around the same time, he forges his dad's name again on a second loan from a bank, and he uses this money to buy himself a brand new Jeep Wrangler in yellow. Because remember, he wants to appear like a rich kid who can afford new cars. Here's the thing about loans, though. You have to make payments on them. And Porco definitely isn't making payments on these loans.
Starting point is 00:04:17 So the lending institution sends him a letter, letting him know that his payments are delinquent. But then they also send a letter to his co-signer or his alleged co-signer, aka his dad. And so Porco's dad calls up Porco. Porco isn't answering the phone. So his dad emails him like, what the fuck is this loan you took out? And Porco, he tries to lie about the amount like, chill, dad, it's just for $2,000. But his dad doesn't believe him. So his dad is basically like, I'm calling the bank and telling them to remove me.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Then the next day, Dad learns about the loan for the Jeep Wrangler, because Porco's defaulting on this loan too. And so now Dad is even more pissed. So he emails Porco again, and he tells him not to do it again. Or he'll file a forgery affidavit, which would end up getting Porco in a lot of trouble. Then Porco's mom jumps into the fight, and she starts emailing him about how disappointed they are in him. Rightfully so. Now, ultimately, they remove Porco as an officer. user from their credit card account, which, you know, cuts him off.
Starting point is 00:05:25 And so at this point, Porco is very worried. I mean, he's broke, his parents cut him off, his checking account has negative $115 in it, he doesn't know what he's going to do. But then he realizes there is another way to make a lot of money fast. If his parents die, then he'll get over $1 million in life insurance. Plus, then his dad won't be able to file those forgery affidavit David's against him. So he decides he's going to murder them. And about 10 days later, he sets that plan into motion. So it's nighttime and it's late. And Porco drives from where he lives at the
Starting point is 00:06:06 university all the way down to his parents' house over 200 miles away. When he gets there, he uses the code to deactivate the security alarm and he goes to the garage and he grabs an axe. Then he sneaks upstairs with the axe, and he goes into his parents' bedroom, where they're sleeping, and he raises up that axe, and boom, he attacks his dad over and over again. Then he starts attacking his mom. Once they're taken care of, he goes and he cuts the phone line. I assume this is so they can't call for help if they just so happen to survive the attack. Then Porco flees the scene, and he drives away. A few hours later, it's daytime now. and dad, he doesn't show up for work.
Starting point is 00:06:53 And this guy is an appellate court clerk, and he's always very diligent about showing up on time and whatnot. So when Porco's dad doesn't show up to the courthouse for work that day and isn't answering his phone, his coworkers immediately know something is wrong. So they send a court officer over to his house to do a welfare check. And the court officer gets there, and the front door is a little bit open. So the officer peeks inside, and that is where he feels.
Starting point is 00:07:20 finds Porco's dad. But here's the really crazy part. After the attack, Porco's dad, he didn't just die in his bed. He actually had severe brain damage and he somehow got up and he started going about his normal morning routine. He walked to the bathroom,
Starting point is 00:07:38 he went downstairs and tried to load the dishwasher, he packed up his lunch for work, he even sat down and wrote a check to pay one of Porco's parking tickets. Then he went outside to grab the newspaper and he accidentally locked himself out, and then he found a hidden spare key, let himself back in, and that is where he finally collapsed and died. But the even crazier thing is, even after the brutal attack with an axe,
Starting point is 00:08:04 Porco's mom is still alive. I mean, she's hurt, but she actually survived the attack. So immediately, police are on the scene, and they're investigating all this. And while Porco's mom is literally being tended to by paramedics, the police ask her straight up, did your son do this? And she nods yes. So police call Porco in for questioning,
Starting point is 00:08:28 and they ask him about the murder. And he tells them some bullshit story that he didn't even leave campus that night and he had slept on the couch in the dorm lounge. But police get a hold of campus security footage and the security footage shows him in his yellow Jeep Wrangler leaving Rochester that night. So now they have more than enough evidence
Starting point is 00:08:47 to make an arrest And so, bam, Porco is arrested. Here's his mugshot. And ultimately, he goes to trial, and he's found guilty, and he gets sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
