Ray William Johnson: True Story Podcast - This Millionaire Soccer Player is in BIG Trouble // The Quincy Promes Stabbing Story
Episode Date: April 6, 2026Quincy Promes, once a star forward for the Netherlands national team and Ajax, has seen his career derailed by a series of high-profile criminal convictions. After a 2020 family party ended with Prome...s attacking his cousin in the knee, he was sentenced in absentia to 18 months in prison for aggravated assault. This was followed by a much more severe six-year sentence in February 2024 for his involvement in smuggling drugs through the port of Antwerp. For several years, Promes avoided his prison terms by living and playing for Spartak Moscow in Russia, which has no extradition treaty with the Netherlands. However, while on a winter training camp in Dubai in early 2024, he was detained by local authorities following a traffic accident and subsequently arrested on a Dutch extradition request.

Do you know this famous millionaire soccer player?
stabbed his own cousin?
Now the guy's name is Quincy, and Quincy is 28 when this story starts, and he's living in Amsterdam,
and Quincy is a professional soccer player.
He plays for Ajax Football Club, which is like a soccer club in the Netherlands.
And they're apparently paying him good money around the equivalent of $3 million US dollars a year.
But for Quincy, all this money just isn't enough.
So on the side, he decides to get involved in...
in drug trafficking.
And he starts importing cocaine from Brazil to the Netherlands.
And like he'll not only finance these operations,
but he'll oversee the shipments and stuff too.
Like, how does he have time to do all that?
Well, anyway, one day, in 2020, he's got a major deal in motion.
Quincy's expecting two cocaine shipments from Brazil,
hidden inside large containers of salt.
And altogether, this shipment is worth roughly $82 million U.S.
So he's shipping a lot of drugs.
And as the one in charge of coordinating everything,
Quincy messages his goons,
and he tells them to go pick up the product as soon as the product gets there.
But here's what he doesn't know.
The Dutch police have been onto him in his drug operation for a while now,
and they've been watching him.
In fact, they've accessed the app that he normally uses to communicate with his goons.
So now they're reading all his back-and-forth messages,
and they know all about these shipments
like they know when they're all arriving.
So they inform the Belgian police
because the shipments are actually coming in
through the port of Antwerp in Belgium.
And so Belgium police move in.
And bam, they managed to intercept one of the shipments.
Now, at this point, the Dutch police
could find Quincy and arrest him.
But they decide not to do that.
Instead, they keep monitoring him.
They wiretap his phone
and they listen in on every one
of his conversations, because they want to not only build a strong case against him, but they
want evidence against his co-conspirators as well. So Quincy doesn't get arrested, and he continues
on living his double life, making millions, a well-known soccer player in public and a drug
trafficker in private. But then that same year in 2020, he does something really crazy.
One day, Quincy is at a family gathering, a bunch of his family members are there,
and Quincy learns that his cousin stole some jewelry from his aunt.
And he gets super pissed off, and he starts arguing with his cousin.
And this argument gets heated.
And then Quincy suddenly just snaps.
And he pulls out a pocket knife, and bam, he stabs his cousin in the knee.
Now, cousin doesn't die or anything like that.
But later, he does report the incident to the police.
And so, bam, Quincy is arrested and thrown in jail.
And after a couple of days, he's released from jail while he waits for his trial.
And of course, he's expected to stay in the Netherlands while he waits.
But after a while, Quincy starts to think ahead.
If this case goes wrong and he gets convicted of stabbing,
then he could be looking at serious prison time.
And that would destroy his life and his career and everything he's worked for.
So he decides he's not going to stick around.
to face any consequences, and he flees the country and he heads all the way over to Russia.
And there, he starts a completely new life and he signs a deal with a Russian soccer club,
Spartak, Moscow.
Now, we don't know if Quincy chose Russia on purpose or if it was just a coincidence,
but either way, it was a really smart choice because Russia doesn't have an extradition
treaty with the Netherlands.
So he's safe there, and he continues on playing soccer in Russia.
However, as the years pass, things don't necessarily get any better for Quincy.
Because a few years go by, and it's now 2023.
And by now, the trial for the stabbing of his cousin officially starts.
And of course, Quincy doesn't show up because he's in Russia.
So the court proceeds without him.
And at the end of it all, he's found guilty and he's sentenced to 18 months in prison,
if they can ever find him and arrest him.
But his problems don't end there.
because around this time the Dutch government charges him in the drug trafficking case they had been building against him.
And they set a court date for that and once again, Quincy doesn't show up.
So the court moves forward without him again.
This time, he's found guilty and he's sentenced to six years in prison.
Again, if they can ever find him and arrest him.
So the Dutch police contact Interpol, who issues an international alert.
Meaning if Quincy ever leaves Russia, he risks being flagged and arrested.
So he's got to stay in Russia.
And that's exactly what he does.
He stays there and he continues to play soccer.
In fact, during this time, he becomes one of the team's top goal scorers.
Now, you would expect someone who's internationally wanted to keep a low profile.
Oh, but that's not what Quincy's going to do.
He's feeling pretty untouchable at this point.
He's out at parties, he's flexing his lifestyle on social media,
he even starts making music, because I guess he's a rapper too.
He raps about like crime and violence.
He even raps about drug trafficking sometimes.
Now, here's where things start to get a little complicated for Quincy.
It's now 2024, and Quincy's Russian soccer team travels to the United Arab Emirates for a training camp, and he goes with them.
Now, this is obviously risky for him because the UAE actually does have an extradition treaty with the Netherlands.
Meaning, if anything goes wrong, he could be arrested and extradited.
Regardless, he goes to the UAE anyway.
I guess he feels safe as long as he stays with his team.
And so while he's there, he trains and he plays matches,
and police don't really bother him and he doesn't run into any problems.
Then, Quincy, being Quincy, he starts screwing up.
One day, he's driving around Dubai and suddenly,
Scoopoo!
He gets into an accident.
And it's not a big accident, but it is an accident.
And instead of stopping and exchanging insurance or whatever they do in Dubai,
Quincy decides to just drive off and leave the scene.
Not long after that, it's time for his team to leave the UAE.
So Quincy heads to the airport as well.
But what he doesn't know is that the UAE police have identified him as a suspect in that hit and run he was involved in
and they've quietly been tracking him.
and just as he's about to leave the airport,
bam, he gets arrested and taken into custody.
A few days later, they release him,
but only on the condition that he doesn't leave Dubai,
because he eventually has to go to trial for that hit and run.
So now Quincy stuck,
and his team returns to Russia without him,
and eventually, after months of trying to get him out of the UAE,
the Russian soccer club just terminates his contract.
They basically fire him.
So now Quincy is without a soccer.
team to play for. Well, that's not gonna stop him. Because he goes and he signs a one-year deal
with a soccer club in Dubai. So now he's back in the game and several months go by. And Quincy,
he's still in Dubai and he's still playing soccer for that new team and he's still flexing his
lifestyle online and he's even still making music and stuff. And so it's starting to look like
bro is gonna get away with all of his crimes.
until
the Dutch government steps in
and they contact the UAE government
and they put in a formal request
to extradite Quincy
and so bam
Quincy is arrested again
and this time he's extradited
back to the Netherlands where he's now serving
his combined seven and a half year
sentence in prison
