Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up guys, it's Andy Frisella and this is the show for the realest, say goodbye to the lies of fakeness and delusions of modern society and welcome to motherfucking reality. If you're watching on YouTube, yeah, I'm wearing my workout shit. I came straight from the gym. I'm going to record this. I'm going to go right back in the gym. The reason I came in here to record this is because it's important. All right. A lot of you small business owners, you guys out there trying to build a brand, trying to get something rolling, you need to pay very close attention to the next, I don't know, 20 minutes of your life. Okay. Cause I'm going to save you a whole bunch of years and a whole bunch of fucking money. What I'm going to do is a little bit unusual. As you know, I have been recording podcasts since 2015 and I've talked about a whole lot of shit,
Starting point is 00:01:06 including the points I want to make today. I've actually covered them in a previous episode, and I went back and listened to that episode. I don't think I could say it any better than I did there. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to feed you that episode right here on the end of this intro, which is about 20 minutes long. Now, if you are in business, if you plan on being a business, if you plan on making a living, if you plan on building a brand, if you plan on building an income, I want you to understand something right now. You cannot do it alone. You are going to have to have relationships within your industry. And what I see from the young entrepreneur crowd, and sometimes the not so young entrepreneur crowd, is the same fucking shit. Okay? You get yourself
Starting point is 00:01:53 a name. You get yourself a little traction. You might even have yourself a building or an office of some sort. And you start to talk shit. You start to mention your game plan, you start to mention your competition, you start to think you're really fucking cool. And then all of a sudden what happens is your sales start to dry up. Okay. You can't figure out what's going on. You can't figure out why it's gotten so much harder for you. And I want to save you that frustration. And so what I'm going to do is I'm going to have you listen to this next episode and it's going to give you four to five clear steps that you need to understand perfectly as a young entrepreneur working to build your craft or your business or your project or your team or your cause. Because I'm going to tell you right now, what's going on
Starting point is 00:02:43 out there in the entrepreneur world of, you know of getting a little traction, flaunting around like you fucking got a 10 foot long dick taking you to the shit, that's going to get you fucking smashed. And I'm going to explain practically and clearly why that is right now. So listen up. But I do have something I want to talk about today. A lot of you guys are really focusing right now on trying to build your personal brand because you've realized that we don't know what's going to happen with the economy. We don't know if you're going to have an actual job to go to. We don't know if they're going to shut down everything again. It looks like they are just like I've told you they would the whole time, but there's uncertainty. So a lot of
Starting point is 00:03:24 people are trying to build their own thing. And I just want to revisit something that I think is super relevant to younger entrepreneurs. And when I say younger, I mean, people who are new to the game. And this could, and when I say entrepreneur, I mean, if you're trying to build your personal brand too, okay, this is, this goes hand in hand, whether you're starting a company, whether you're starting a personal brand, it doesn't matter what you're trying to build your personal brand too, okay? This goes hand in hand. Whether you're starting a company, whether you're starting a personal brand, it doesn't matter what you're starting. It is important that you understand
Starting point is 00:03:49 the next few points that I'm about to talk about, all right? When you start out in business, it is very, very hard to get anything going. And it's very tempting as a young business owner or a young entrepreneur or a young influencer to want to see someone out there who you think is getting it done, right? They're where you want to be, sort of, and to talk shit on them publicly. And I want to talk to you guys about why that's a terrible strategy and why it will actually
Starting point is 00:04:23 keep you from getting where you want to go. Now, remember, I've been doing this for a long time. This is my 22nd year in business. All right. I understand how this works very well. And so when you're new and you're in the game and you might be a couple of years in, you might have a million or $2 in sales and you might think you're figuring it out, but I could tell you, you'll never get to that 10, 12, 50, 80, 200, $500 million mark and more without obeying what I'm about to talk about. And I'm going to tell you why. So it's very tempting for us to talk shit when we don't have anything going for everybody. It's very tempting for us to say, well, look at that fucking guy. He's not as good as me, blah, blah, blah. He may not be,
Starting point is 00:05:11 but apparently something he's doing is working and he's probably been doing it longer than you. And he's probably in a place for a reason that you want to be. All right. So the first reason you don't want to talk shit on the person is this, it brings unnecessary attention to the competition. Now, if you're a little brand, all right, and you start procuring and developing and bringing in your own customers, these customers are your customers. And the minute you open your mouth and you mention another brand or another product or another company or another person, you're going to pique their curiosity. And you think that because you're talking badly or negatively about that person, that they're going to also believe
Starting point is 00:05:57 you, but they're not. What they're going to do is they're going to go look and they're going to say, well, why does Tony think this and this and this about so-and-so, right? And then they're going to go look and they're going to say, well, why does Tony think this and this and this about so-and-so, right? And then they're going to go see what this company's about or what this person's about. And guess what might happen? They might like that person more than you. They might like that company more than you. They might like their products more than you. And then what'd you do? You just gave away one of your customers that you worked really hard to get. And this happens every day. This keeps small businesses small every day. All right. So rule number one, never bring unnecessary attention to your competition. Okay. Rule number two, when you talk shit and you think that your
Starting point is 00:06:37 customers are like, yeah, really what they're saying behind the scenes is fuck dude. Why is this guy so worried about this other guy? Why is this guy so obsessed with these other guys? They must have something that he doesn't. And customers are smart and they see that. And so when you unnecessarily draw negative attention to these other brands, people will go out. This is not 2012 where people just jumped on the train and believed anything you said. This is 2020. All right. And what happens is people go out and they do their own homework. They do their own research.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And usually what they find out is that you're full of shit. And that the reason you're talking bad about them is because you're jealous. And they can recognize that you're trying to emulate a bunch of things that they're doing, but then also talking shit on that person, which makes no sense to the customer. And they ultimately end up seeing you as insecure, inferior version of that brand, of that person, of that influencer. Okay. So that's point number two, the customers hate it and they're smart and they figure out why you're doing it. Point number three, here's the thing that you really have to be careful about when talking shit. And this, I think this point keeps people or puts more people out of business
Starting point is 00:07:51 than really any of the other points that I'm going to cover here. If you get on a bigger company's radar, okay, they have more resources than you. They have a bigger audience than you. They have more money than you. They have a bigger reputation than you. Those things, they probably have bigger supply chains. They probably have the ability to do things that you can't do. And they probably have the ability to do them a lot faster. So when you talk bad about another company and then you end up getting on their radar, a lot of times those companies will just come up with ways to make shit hard for you. Try to do everything they can to make your life difficult just because they can. This happens all the time in business. So you never want to get on
Starting point is 00:08:39 somebody's radar that has more power than you. It's a smart strategic move. All right. And a lot of you guys don't think about that. You don't realize that if a big company takes a little company and takes their idea and brings it to market, it's not your idea anymore. It's their idea. You don't understand that. So stop getting yourself unnecessarily on people's radar that have the power to basically take everything from you in a business sense. It's not good business. It's terrible fucking business. All right. And fourth, and by the way, third, that reason right there is what really, it either costs you for moving up or it'll put you out of business and you won't be able to figure out why you'll be able you'll be sitting there all these things keep happening to you
Starting point is 00:09:31 and you'll be thinking what the fuck why is my ad spend going up why why is this company doing this why are my products not getting because dude the other company saw what you were doing and then took it right from you and went and put it into play. And you can't recognize that. So guys stay off other companies radars. And here's the fourth point. The fourth point I think is the most important point here. All right. One day when you get big, which you will, if you keep working hard, if you keep your head down, you keep your mouth shut, and you do what you can do to be the best you can, you will garner some piece of the pie. And if you're smart and you can learn from your mistakes and you're willing to endure,
Starting point is 00:10:16 you're going to be able to build that into a significant piece of the pie. And when you build that into the significant piece of the pie, you're going to get on some of these big companies radars as default. Now that's not a bad thing because at the top level of business, most of these bigger companies, they work together. The CEOs, they're friends. The CEOs are hanging out on the weekends talking about how they're going to do this and this and how they're going to help each other continue to win. And a lot of you guys don't understand that. At small business level, you know, it's a lot of shit talking. It's a lot of boo-hoo and it's a lot of, you know, oh, you know, Tony's doing this and this and this.
Starting point is 00:10:56 And Nick's doing this and this and this. And Andy's doing this and this and this. And dude, and that's what small business is and that's why it stays small. All right? But when you get up into the big leagues where you're trying to get to, there might come a time where you want to be friends with that guy that you hate right now for no other reason than he's where you want to be and you're not. So the problem with this is, is that when you get to a point, let's say you go out and get to a point where you're respected, you have a big piece of the pie
Starting point is 00:11:23 and you're on the radar of the pie, and you're on the radar of the market leader or whatever, right? And you say, well, fuck, I want to really go meet that guy. I don't want to talk to him. They're going to remember those swipes you took because they see them even though they may not acknowledge them. And what's going to happen? They're going to say no to your meeting.
Starting point is 00:11:41 They're not going to work with you. You're not going to get in the quote unquote club, and then you're going to have a problem because now you're stuck in the middle. You don't have anybody to work with. You don't have anybody that'll do you any favors. You don't have anybody that'll help you or consult you or teach you how to do anything more than what you know how to do. And what are you? You're dead in the water. All right. Business comes from people. People make the business happen. You have to remember that behind every company you talk shit on, there's a competitive motherfucker back behind it that is paying attention to what you're saying, no matter how big or small you think you might be. And when you talk trash on people, they decided
Starting point is 00:12:24 they want to work with you. And then what? What if one of those companies was the company that was going to come in and buy you out so you could exit? What if one of those companies owns another company that could sell your products all over the world? What if one of those companies could manufacture something for you? You're severely limiting your options by doing these kinds of behaviors, guys, and it kills more small business than any other point. Talking shit kills more small business and keeps more businesses small and keeps them financially struggling than any other point. And if you do it, you're welcome to do it. But if you do it, you're, you know, you're welcome to do it. But if you do it,
Starting point is 00:13:06 I think you're pretty stupid because there's a lot of very smart reasons as to why not to. And all it takes is you humbling yourself and saying, yeah, you know, I am being a little bit jealous. You know, that guy's where I want to be. I want to be like that. What can I learn from him? How can I be like them? You don't have to hate people like that, guys. It's okay. It's okay to emulate. It's okay to learn from. It's okay to look at and admire, even if they're in the same space. Okay. There's plenty of people I look up to in my business that are better at what they do than I am in all my businesses. Okay. And I respect those people. And guess what?
Starting point is 00:13:45 I'm friends with those people. You know why I'm friends with those people? Because they're good people and they help us win. This is how business works. So you need to work on switching your mindset from the little, you know, beginner business level and start thinking like a big time CEO right now, because the sooner that you get this shit out of your system, the faster everything's going to go for you. Now, guys, those are ironclad rules, okay, that I've learned over the last 20 plus years of my life. By the way, I've been the guy that's gotten his ass beat by bigger people for running his mouth. I've learned this lesson the hard way. It probably cost me five or six years of my life. And honestly, I don't want you to have to pay the same price I
Starting point is 00:14:28 had to fucking pay for my own stupidity. All right. So go back and listen to that again. And if any of it rings true for you, correct the situation, keep your head down, work hard, do the right thing and shut your fucking mouth. And things are going to go a lot smoother for you. All right. You never want to violate these rules I talked about in this show. You always want to keep them in mind. And remember, when you see people violating them, they're rookies. They don't know what they're doing. Okay. And it's only a matter of time before they get smashed too. Now, if you like that, if you learned something, share it. Okay. I don't run ads on this show. I don't ask you guys to pay for the show. I don't waste your time. Look, we grow this show if you grow. This is valuable information. Share it. If you thought it sucked, don't share it. Okay. I'm
Starting point is 00:15:18 just letting you know that's the deal. If we do good, tell a couple people. If we don't do good, I don't care. All right. Don't tell anybody or tell everybody. I don't give a shit. The point is, if you value the show, please share it. That's our fee. That's what we ask. And go out and use the information to win. Stole, counted millions in the cold Bad bitch, booted, swole Got her on bankroll, can't fold Just a note, headshot, case closed
