Starting point is 00:00:00 What's up guys, it's Andy Frisella and this is the show for the realest sake of body of lies, the fakeness and delusions of modern society. Welcome to motherfucking reality. Guys, today I have a short episode for you. All right. It's not going to take too much of your time, but I do believe that this story about something that I learned is going to greatly benefit you, especially you guys who are not where you want to be yet and are maybe just getting started on where you want to go. Maybe you're just waking up and you're saying, hey, you know what? This is my only life and I'm going to fucking live it. OK, I have a story that I think will make a big difference for you that I'm going to tell you in just a second. Before I tell you that story, I'd like to remind you guys, you know, we don't run ads on the show. I can make seven figures, at least maybe eight figures
Starting point is 00:01:03 running ads. I don't do it. It's not something I want to do. I want to provide value. I want to feel like we're providing value. And the way I know we're providing value is if you guys share the show. So if you could give us a share, you know, I'm not asking for a free share. If it sucks, don't share it. All right. I'm asking if it taught you something, if it made you think, if it brought some value, if it made you laugh, you know, give us a little share. All right. We love you guys. We appreciate you guys. We've stayed at the top of the list for years and years and years and years, all based on word of mouth. And honestly, dude, that makes me feel amazing. It makes me feel like we're part of a really
Starting point is 00:01:38 awesome thing here, which is the way the world should be, right? Like you do good, good shit happens. So if I do good, share me. If I don't do good, fuck me, right? All right. I'm cool with that. So what I wanted to talk to you guys today was about a story I did on my Instagram yesterday. Okay. I got on there. I started talking about where I used to be and what my biggest failure was. And then talking about, you know, how we have to grind through day by day, by day, by day to catch the momentum to carry us to where we need to be. And so I want to tell the story a little bit of, of how I discovered what I'm about to tell you. And what I'm about to tell you is this, you right now in your supposed weak state, all right, you're not finished state, whether you are 500 pounds or whether you're a hundred thousand in
Starting point is 00:02:39 debt or wherever the fuck you are. Okay. I want you to understand something. You are mentally capable and strong enough to make that change now. And to prove this and explain to you what I'm talking about, I'm going to tell you a story. Back in 2016, a lot of you guys might remember, but some of you don't, all right? Some of you guys don't follow me from what I do for an actual living, which is run companies. You follow me for the podcast. So a lot of you guys don't know that I used to be really fat. All right. I was 350 pounds in 2015. And going into 2016, at the beginning of the year, I had been working and I dropped 20 pounds and I was right around 330 pounds. And on January 4th, 2016, I posted a video on my Facebook and through our
Starting point is 00:03:34 company that showed me with my shirt off, getting out of bed, going down into my basement and doing some work. And I wanted to show people that, you know, where I really was, because at that time I had already built some companies. I was financially successful, but I was trash. Okay. And, and I was a shit show in my fitness life. And honestly, uh, some other areas too. I was drinking a lot. Not that I don't still have a drink from time to time, but it was a big part of my life, way bigger than it should have been. And it was really hard for me to put that story out because I was afraid. I felt like a fraud, right? I own these companies. I'm talking about how to win and how to build shit. And I can't even control what goes into my mouth.
Starting point is 00:04:30 And that felt pretty shitty. So I decided I was going to be completely transparent and show people, Hey dude, this is where I'm at and I'm committed to fixing it. And ever since then, uh, I've been committed to fixing it. Okay. So that was January 2016. Now I want to zoom in on the first couple of weeks of that journey. All right. Now the first day, you know, I did that video. I saw the footage. I was super embarrassed and super frustrated. And I went down, I started doing my workout. You know, I got done with the workout. I look in the mirror. I didn't look any different. Well, no shit. Right. But I just got done working really fucking hard. I mean, I was breathing
Starting point is 00:05:17 heavy. I was sweating. I was, you know, I felt good. And you guys all know what I'm talking about. And then I look in the mirror and I'm like, fuck man. Like what the fuck? And I would get down on myself. And I think that's a natural reaction, right? To tell ourselves, right? We all want the instant gratification. And as silly as it sounds, we expect to see some differences literally immediately. It's just not the way it works. And I had to force myself past that feeling all right past that feeling of thinking I can never do this this is going to be really hard how long is it going to take when am I going to be done and you know those questions were coming from a place of ignorance because I assumed that when I got to a certain place, I could go back to what I was doing,
Starting point is 00:06:05 which you can't do. And I know we all want to hear that. And you're hearing that right now and you're cringing and you're saying, well, fuck, I like my life. I have fun. I enjoy it. And just trust me on this. You don't know what you're talking about. All right. You haven't lived the other side of this. You haven't lived the side where you look in the mirror yet and you say, holy fuck, I'm so proud of that person. You haven't lived it yet. So you really can't speak on it. Okay. You have to listen to people who have gone through that journey and they will tell you how much better their lives are in literally every way. All right. And there's not a way my life isn't better. Not a way. There's not a single way. Okay. And tremendously, by the way, I would go back and do all of those things
Starting point is 00:06:53 over again, a million times over if it meant I would be where I'm at today and know how capable I am of becoming what I need to become at this point in my life. All right. I have total confidence. I truly believe I know I'm going to have losses. I know people I'm going to get punched in the fucking face. I'm going to look stupid a hundred times over again still. But I know that I can push through that shit. And that was earned through this process. This is also why I started 75 Hard, to basically streamline the mental process of you grasping it quickly, which then gives you the power to adhere to the program, which will then change your life. Okay. I'll talk about that later. If you want to hear about that, it's episode 14 on this feed.
Starting point is 00:07:43 All right. But that's not what this show is about. What I want you to understand is that right after you take that picture, dude, and you're looking at yourself and you're like, fuck, that is the hardest it's going to be. That is the hardest it's going to be. And if you can make it through that and still tell yourself the truth and still be willing to get up the next motherfucking day and do it again, you are starting to understand what this is about. Okay. You are going to have to force your way through any change. And this is not just about losing weight. It can be about gaining weight. It can be about building a company. It can be about building a family. It can be about building an organization. It's literally
Starting point is 00:08:25 applicable to really any situation in life. The very beginning is hard as fuck. This is the same situation that I had in business. It's very parallel. Okay. Hard. You have no momentum. You have to force every single action, every single day, every single workout, every single meal has to be forced at first. But then you make it three or four days and you're looking and you're like, fuck, okay, that's good. And our natural reaction is saying, all right, let's celebrate. No, dude, that's the problem. We're celebrating too soon. You've heard me talk about this before. All right. You have to keep going. And once you go two weeks, three weeks of winning, you start to understand this is not rocket science. This is
Starting point is 00:09:13 building habitual actions and catching momentum and riding the momentum to where you need to be. All right. But here's the thing. And this is the point that I want to make to you. That first year I lost 110 pounds. I got all the way from 350 down to a hundred and I'm sorry, not a hundred. I've been a hundred pounds and hundreds since I was like in second grade, but I went down from 350 to 240. Okay. And I was proud of myself. And so the video team and I, at the time we went out and I said, I want to wear an 80 pound vest to simulate close to where I was in weight. And I want to do the workout that I was doing. And if you guys remember, I used to walk this hill that I called Death Mountain. Now, Death Mountain was a long hill. It's like half a mile long. It's probably a 45-degree straight-up angle,
Starting point is 00:10:14 and that sounds easy, dude, but it isn't, especially when you're overweight, especially when it's hot, when we get real hot here in the summertime in St. Louis, Missouri. Right. So I put this weight vest on and I started walking up the hill. And dude, I am fucking dying because at that time I had lost so much weight that the hill that I was working on, you know, it felt a lot easier. But I put that weight on, dude. And I thought about how I lived and how hard it was for me to move. And what I ended up coming to the conclusion after the workout, and by the way, I was so fucking spent. I nearly threw up and passed out from the fucking heat on that day. It was one of the worst that I've ever felt after a workout or putting that weight on and doing the same workout I had done every day for a year before that. All right. And what it did was it reminded me
Starting point is 00:11:10 of something very important. And I remember I told the guys this on that day. I said, hey, man, you know, that fat motherfucker that started, that dude was tough as fuck because that was hard. That was so much harder than it is now. And the point that I realized is this. I was actually as tough as I needed to be then. I just didn't realize it. And so what you have to realize, guys, is where you're at in life and where you're wanting to go, what you're going to do right now is going to be the hardest that it's going to be. It's going to take the most focus that you're going to have to put in. It's going to take the most amount of effort and it's going to be really fucking hard.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Okay. But what's going to happen is you're going to catch the momentum. You're going to keep moving forward. You're going to get lighter. You're going to get stronger. And if in business, this happens too. It happens in other ways. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:04 You're going to make relationships. You're going to get some cashflow coming in. Things start to materialize that actually make you better. It makes it easier to move. Okay. So when this starts to happen in fitness, right, you start feeling stronger, you start feeling lighter, you start moving, you start getting proud and all that shit. And we forget about what I'm talking about, about how thankful we should be to that person. And for me, that person in 2016 that was willing to own what I really was and was willing to do something about it and was willing to do something about it no matter what the fuck it took. Okay. That motherfucker was tough. We want to talk about what's tough. That's tough. All right. Tough isn't running
Starting point is 00:12:51 an ultra marathon. Tough isn't, you know, doing all these things. Okay. Those are tough things. But what's fucking tough is admitting what you really are, dedicating yourself to the process of improving it, whether it be your business or any other area, your fitness, doesn't matter. Commit to the process of improving it and then move forward day in and day out. You have it in you right now. A lot of you guys are looking in the mirror and you're looking at your dream and you're saying, I don't fucking have it. And you do. You just haven't gained the perspective to realize that you were actually strong enough now. You were actually tough enough now. And you were actually in a position now to move towards that goal. And we psych ourselves out. We tell ourselves,
Starting point is 00:13:43 fuck dude, that guy has something that I don't. David Goggins has something I don't. Okay. Frisella's got something I don't. Fucking Iron Cowboy's got something I don't. No. They just started and they dedicated themselves to whatever the fuck they needed to do day in and day out. And their lives got better and their lives changed. And I am extremely, extremely thankful for that fat ass in 2016 that got sick and tired of living like shit because that's the truth. I was a fucking fraud. I was weak. I was insecure and I'm a million trillion percent better now. And I am so thankful for that guy. And you should be too, because that guy is in you. You just have to let it go. You have to discover it and you have to go out and you have to do the
Starting point is 00:14:41 things day by day by day to pull back the cover on who the fuck you really are. Because I promise you guys, there is nothing different between anyone else that's doing what you want to do and you other than they realize that they had it in them today and they started to fucking go after what they wanted today. This is the biggest thing that I see young people struggling with. And when I say young, I don't mean young in age. You could be 55 years old listening to me right now and thinking, you know what? I didn't live my whole life. I didn't do the things I could have done. I never believed in myself because I didn't think I had the strength. I didn't think I had the power. I didn't think I had the ability to do that. And you can look at that person that is you in the mirror right now
Starting point is 00:15:29 and realize that you can do it now. Okay. You are capable right now of making that fucking change. And I don't give a fuck where you come from. I don't care what your hardships are. I don't care what your story is. We all have it in us, all of us. So think about that. Every single great story that you observe, every single person that you look up to, every single person that you want to be more like and you want to emulate, start it exactly where the fuck you are right now. So what are you going to do? Are you going to keep telling yourself over and over again that you're not capable? That's something different about you? That's this isn't for people like you? Are you going to make excuses as to why you can't get it
Starting point is 00:16:16 done? Or are you going to hear what I'm saying? And remember that you have everything in you that you fucking need right now. You just got to go.
