What's up guys, it's Andy Priscilla and this is the show for the realest, say goodbye to
the lies, the fakeness, and delusions of modern society. And welcome to motherfucking reality. Guys, today we've got Q and AF. And as a reminder,
if you get something out of the show, if you enjoy the show, if you learn something,
if it answered a question, if it helped you navigate something, if it gave you a new perspective,
made you laugh, give us a share. Okay. We don't run ads for the show. I don't run ads on the show.
The reason I don't do that is because it's annoying as fuck.
So in return for not doing that,
I would just appreciate if you would help us grow the show.
With that being said,
DJ,
what's up?
What's going on,
baby?
What we got today?
As always,
guys,
got three questions for Andy.
You guys, please email your questions in to askandy at andyfussella.com.
And with that being said, let's get right into it.
All right.
Question number one.
Andy, when's the right time to reward yourself?
Right.
Like I've been waiting to reward myself.
I have a business.
I'm at a place where I stacked up a good amount of win streaks, right?
You know, my people are good. My family's good. When is the right time to reward yourself?
And how do you do that? I reward myself every single day. I get up. I work my ass off.
I do my work. I go work out again. And those are rewards. Okay. I like to reward myself through
challenging myself. I like to reward myself through growth. I like to reward myself through
getting better. I think those are the proper rewards. All right. Investments into yourself
so that you can invest into others. And when you do that, you don't have to worry about rewarding
yourself because the rewards are in abundance. They come to you without you really even thinking about it.
Now, I'm assuming that is a question regarding material rewards. Look, man,
it's a personal preference what you need to be rewarded with. You know, I would just say this,
a lot of people reward themselves for doing shit they should have been doing anyway.
Okay. Like you, you go out and you know, you work hard for a week on your diet and then you go,
you say you're going to reward yourself with beer and fucking pizza. Like what the fuck are you
rewarding yourself for? You're supposed to take care of your body. You're supposed to take care of your brain. You're supposed to take care of those
things. You know, a lot of people want to flex online and buy shit they can't afford so that
people that they don't even know will admire them. Guys, that ship has sailed. You know,
people know what fake is. They know that, you know, like it's cool for a day and then you got
to pay for it. So there's the repo man. Yeah. So like, you know, rewarding yourself, I don't know, like in the early stages of business,
I think it's important because you got to remind yourself that you're working for a better life.
And I understand that. But, you know, the mentality of rewarding yourself seems to take
precedent over the mentality of actually doing the work on a daily basis and becoming excellent at that.
And the thing is, is that when you become excellent at everything that you do and you take your life serious and you look at just the ability to get up and live healthy and execute and do build and contribute and be better as an actual reward, the material rewards just come. I don't sit here and think about when I'm
going to buy my next car or fucking house or watch. I shop for that shit constantly.
There's not a day that goes by that I'm not looking online. And when I see something I like,
I get it. But that's the result of 20 plus years of putting in the highly focused efforts on myself, my mind, my mentality, my body, making investments in my team and my companies.
And at the end of the day, the more I give there, the more the rewards come.
So I would be real cautious listening to anyone who has an actual like answer like, oh, this is when you reward yourself.
You're going to know. OK, you're going to feel like it's time.
You're going to know it's right. And, you know, one time I can remember, like, I don't know, 10 years ago, 12 years ago, I was looking at a BMW 750 and, uh, you know, at the time that was a huge
car for me. Like that was 130 or 40 grand. And, you know, I had never owned anything like that.
And I remember asking my dad the same question, like, how do you know when it's time to do
something like that? And his answer was, you'll know, like, and that, I think that's very true. I think you just know, you know, um,
I, I do think a lot of younger people reward themselves in opportune times, you know, when
you, when you could be using those funds and that effort towards building and building and building
and building. Um, but I'm going to tell you, and this is the truth, you know, uh, being able to
walk into a building like this, you know, that's one of the most incredible facilities on the planet for a corporate headquarters.
I'd put it up against literally anybody else's.
You know, we may not be Google or Facebook, but, you know, we'll get there.
That's the reward, man. The reward is coming in here every day and seeing what you built, seeing people who work for you, accelerate their lives, to have them buy new cars and move into
new houses and build careers. That's the ultimate reward, man. And I think that, you know, it takes
perspective to recognize that. But you'll never get there if you reward yourself at the inopportune
times, in the inappropriate times in the beginning, You'll never get to the real reward. So I'd be cautious with rewards. I would live below your means. You know, a lot of
people feel like they got to flex and pretend like they're successful. You know, I saw someone
online the other day who said, you know, what do I what would you rather have money or notoriety?
And I mean, like I could tell you because I I've had both, you want money period. Uh, cause money solves a fuck ton of problems.
All right. So it, you know, you're, you're 23 years old and you buy a fucking Huracan because
you think you're fucking flexing on the internet. Real motherfuckers like me are laughing at you.
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm, I'm like, you're an idiot. Right. You know, uh,
I see 27 year old guys with 15 cars and they're all leased and they're this and that,
and they're pretending. And to me, I just, I mean, to me that discredits them. You know what I'm
saying? Like I look at someone like that and say, well, shit, that guy's probably not going to be
somebody I want to do business with because their priorities are out of whack. You know, now if the
guy's 40 years old and he's fucking put in his time or 30 years old and he's
put in his time and he's built something that's undeniably like successful, do whatever the fuck
you want. Sure. The problem is a lot of people just do whatever the fuck they want before they
can afford to do whatever the fuck they want. And it keeps them from ever experiencing the real
rewards of business, which is not things that come back to you it's the things that you contribute and i mean bro like i i get to come
in here and literally a day doesn't go by where somebody hasn't bought a new fucking car or a new
house i mean it's every day now yeah you know we've got three not just like basic cars no like
drive through a fucking parking lot like it's fucking pimping. And I take pride in
that, you know? And none of these people are scraping by, like they're building real careers.
And so, you know, I think the perspective changes as you age and as you become more mature. And
look, dude, I'm not saying you can't buy a nice car when you're young. You know, sometimes you
got to feel good. And sometimes that's the only thing that's going to make you feel good. You know? So I have,
I have an understanding of it from all sides, but I would just be cautious to not overly reward
yourself because when you do, it straps your ability to truly grow. And when you can't truly
grow, you never really get to the main reward, which is what you could do for other people. So fire. That's fire. Great question. And it actually great answer. I mean, but it
actually leads into this next question, because you talked about, you know, these day to day
rewards that you have. Yeah. And this question basically is asking it like, I mean, you talk
a whole lot and I know it because I'm with you every day. There is when you you talk about fucking consistency right like yeah there ain't no one more consistent than me i've never
met anybody no right i've never seen a fucking video there's not a motherfucker listening to
this show i don't care how much money you make i don't care who the fuck you are i don't care what
you do yeah you will not you you are not you're not working harder than me and you're not more
consistent yeah period yeah and that's it and anybody in this fucking building will attest to that one thousand percent but how
does it not get boring like that's the question doesn't get boring because i know what i just said
is fact and it gets me excited yeah when i'm out there and it's fucking 18 degrees outside and i
think of all the people trying to come take my fucking market share my lunch and i know that
they've got their feet kicked up uh smoking a cigar, I laugh. You know what I'm saying? That's the reward. The reward is I'm widening the
gap between me and them while they think I'm up here fucking off. Right. You see what I'm saying?
So like, I don't even show all the work I do because I don't want them to see all the work I do
because I want them to continue to smoke cigars and put their fucking feet up and get their fucking asses beat. So that's how I like to live. You know, a lot of people don't understand
that. That's not boring. It's exciting as fuck. Dude, when I work through an entire, dude,
it's a different mentality, man. Most people just ain't going to ever have it. I would suggest
trying to cultivate it, but you know, it's going to take a long time for you to cultivate that kind of mentality.
It's a fucking pure, competitive, animalistic mentality of like, I'm going to fucking win no matter what the fuck it takes.
And I am. I'm not smart, dude. I'm not a smart human. I'm not an exceptional human.
There's nothing about me that's special. I just know that the only way that I can win is by working like that.
It's the only way. It's the
only way I know how to win. So like, I don't have like these other motherfuckers that smoke cigars
and fucking, you know, we see them doing all kinds of different shit every day and not, you know,
maybe they have more talent than me. Maybe they have more skills than me. Maybe they have more
resources. Uh, but the only thing I could control is that they can't fucking work harder than me. And they're not going to be more consistent. I wake up every single fucking day and do the
exact same shit. And I've done that for years and years and years. And that's why my life looks the
way it does. And I'm not willing to fuck with that. So why would I fucking change that? You
know, a lot of people say, Oh dude, you need to take a vacation why would i take a vacation from this life you know i'm saying like my every day's a vacation i live at a fucking
resort right you know i'm saying like dude my fucking house is like a fucking resort it is like
i live in a resort like every day i do whatever the fuck i want which happens to be working harder
to get better at winning. And I like it.
So, you know, while you're trying to take a vacation from your fucking shitty existence because you won't put in the time or the work or the fucking years that it takes to build,
I'm over here getting better because I built my own fucking oasis in my life.
You know what I'm saying?
So, you know, it's not boring.
It's exciting as fuck.
Dude, what's not exciting about walking in here and seeing young men and women fucking
build careers?
What's not exciting about coming in here every day and getting better?
What's not exciting about kicking ass in business?
What's not what's what's fucking what's not exciting?
Right.
Like y'all motherfuckers got your priorities fucked up.
That's the problem.
You want to go out Thursday night through fucking Sunday and party with your fucking
loser ass friends who ain't going to do shit in their life. And then you want, and you think that I'm bored
motherfucker. That's the most boring shit you could ever fucking do. How many times you done it?
A thousand, 2000, 5,000. You already did it. How about dedicating and getting locked in on your
own personal development and your own building so that
you could create something that you don't have to escape from, you know? So like, just because you
think that would be boring for you doesn't mean it's boring for me. I talk to Gary Vee about this
all the time. Gary Vee works his fucking ass off. That shit that he says is not fucking bullshit.
He likes to work from fucking when he wakes up to when he goes to bed and that's what he likes and people criticize him for that no he fucking loves it you you motherfuckers don't
understand there's people out there like us that love that shit we love it we love it if i didn't
have it the fuck would i do dude you know what i do i lay in bed all day yeah yeah okay so you know my fucking question
back to that is why is your life so boring that's real don't you get fucking bored it's real you
know i'm saying yeah like fuck dude yeah motherfucker's been listed too much liberal
crazy pussy shit just being honest dude it's funny because we were just talking about this i think
it's weakness bro it is this is fucking weakness that's been perpetuated and installed into our society
over the course of the last 25 years and everybody wants to fucking cry and bitch and whine about all
the shit they don't have in the life they don't have when they're not even capable of operating
that life like if you took an average motherfucker and put him in my seat right now, he would crumble in a fucking hour. Okay. Just walking through the fucking door. Yes. So you guys, dude, it's true.
It's real. Yeah. And you guys think you're ready for that. You have to go through this process of
building and learning and fucking failing and then learning some more and building again and
then failing. And that process takes a lifetime and there's nothing boring about it.
It's exciting as fuck. Are you going to get kicked in the nuts a whole bunch of times? Yeah.
But there's a whole lot of times where you're not getting kicked in the nuts. And I can promise you that you're getting kicked in the nuts more than I'm getting kicked in the nuts.
I purposefully get kicked in the nuts so that I'm stronger, so that I'm more equipped,
so that I'm better. I look for opportunities to
hurt me. I look for opportunities to fucking put myself through shit because I know when I come
out the other side, I either learn something new or I got fucking stronger. And that's exciting.
That's not boring. Boring is living how you motherfuckers live. Okay. So that's how,
that's my take on it. No, that's real. I was saying we were just talking about this the other day because, I mean,
literally, guys, every fucking day it's fucking copy and paste, right?
And, I mean, it's been fucking, what, two years?
I did it for years before I knew you.
Yeah.
But what I'm saying is the times that we do get out of that, right,
we still have a fucking good time.
And guess what?
We're still getting shit done, too.
When you guys saw me up in Utah and and i'm shooting machine guns and shit guess
what all my work got done that day yep not no all of it okay all of it all my work gets done
it just does okay and and like dude there's an unrealistic uh expectation
that you know the government's to somehow come in and make people
successful or improve your life, bro, they're only going to take from you. They're only going
to push you down. The only person that can save you and build your life is fucking you, man.
And that's not going to change no matter what government trends happen, no matter what they
try to install, no matter what. Okay. You're matter what okay you're only gonna win if you
fucking make yourself win and that's a decision and it's a decision that you make every single
day when you open your fucking eyes and you know it's certainly not boring like i to me that's a
it's like a ridiculous question like bro i fucking have the coolest life ever yeah like
you know what i'm saying? Like literally,
like how do you get bored? What the fuck are you talking about? Boring. Yeah. It's not boring.
Yeah. That's two for two guys. That's two for two. All right. Final question, Andy. So, uh, we,
you, you, you fenced it at this a few times, right? And I got, I had a couple of questions
on this. Uh, nothing makes me happier, dude. Then when I when I know I'm out fucking working, everybody like they don't people don't understand that about me.
Like like, dude, you guys see me out there when it's fucking minus 18 degrees in the fucking snow and you think, God, that must suck.
I promise you, I got a huge fucking smile on my face the whole fucking time.
You know why? Because I flip through Instagram while I'm doing it and I'm watching what my competitors are doing. I'm watching what the people who think
they're going to beat me are doing. And guess what? None of them are doing that. Not a single
fucking one. Not a single fucking time. That's fucking exciting. You could actually see yourself
getting better in real time. That's how I like to live, dude. That's fucking real. Yeah. Shit. That's deep. Uh,
all right. Last question. And so I had a few questions on this. You, you, you've hinted at
this a few times. Can you tell us the Andy, the carpet cleaner story? Got a few people asking.
Yeah. Yeah. Tell us about it. Yeah. So, so, uh, you know, when we started business, um,
we didn't have anything, you know, we, Chris and I started our business with 12 grand.
First day we sold $7. Second day we sold $0. Third day we sold $23. Uh, first three years we,
we made zero, like zero. We worked at bars and gyms and shit like that to keep the company open.
Well, the company, it was one store, keep the store open. You know, six years in, we had the
opportunity to grow our company and we added some stores and 10 years in, we had six stores.
And first form was just kind of like this idea that we had started working on.
And, uh, you know, we both weren't making any money. You know, our dream was always to make money. We weren't making it like you're not, we, I made 58 fucking thousand dollars my first 10
years in business total. So like we weren't making money. Not only were we not making money,
I could have made more money working at motherfucking McDonald's. No bullshit. Okay. So, um, so we, we started looking for other things to do and Chris was going to, uh,
wanted to go to, uh, OCS school in the military to become a pilot. All right. So he was getting
the eye surgery and the shit that he needed to do to get that, to get that taken care of.
And, uh, you know, I was basically exploring other opportunities. And my dad and I,
my dad was looking to get into business, back into business at time. And so we decided that
we were going to look into the Sears carpet cleaning franchise. And we went through the
whole discovery process and, you know, discovery day where they show you everything about the franchise. And, um, it went so far as to, I went to Columbus, Ohio and, uh, did the onsite training.
We went to a couple of people's houses and clean their carpets and shit. Um, just, you know,
like I'm shadowing a real crew. And, uh, during the training, um, I threw my back out like real bad. Like I had to go to
the hospital there. Then I had to fly back. Then I was in bed for like 30 days here. Like I couldn't
fucking move. Yeah. And, um, during that time, you know, we had a lot of time to talk about,
uh, this, how we're going to make this franchise into, you know, a good company and all these things. Right.
So the guys, we came down to closing and we signed the papers to fucking to, to become the franchisee.
We got home. My dad and I were having a beer and we started talking about it. And, and my dad was
like, I don't know if I feel right about this. And I'm like, I don't either. I feel weird about it.
So we called the fucking guy up who we just signed the papers an hour ago. And my dad said,
where are you at? And he's like, oh, here in whatever hotel. And he's like, what room?
And the guy told us, we drove over to the fucking hotel room. We took the fucking papers,
we ripped them up and, and I went back to work fucking selling supplements. And so I was about
fucking one inch away
from becoming Andy the motherfucking carpet cleaner,
which I would have dominated at that too eventually.
But the point is,
none of you would know who the fuck I was.
And so that's how close you can come
to being completely derailed
off of what it is you're supposed to do.
And the reason that we decided to, to, to basically,
uh, you know, cancel the deal like that, like literally after signing it was because dude,
we realized like, dude, I'm, I, you know, I'm, I'm not, I'm not made to fucking operate within
somebody else's system. I'm made to create systems. And we, we talked about that and, you know, so that's how close it came. It came real fucking close. And, and, and that's wherever
the story picks up where Chris and I had that conversation where we're like, you know, Hey man,
and this led to a big revelation in our business. Um, because Chris and I then had a conversation,
uh, after that where, you know, I was like, hey, look, dude, we're not
doing this thing. So I think we should, you know, think about how we could do our business.
And we had a conversation and we both agreed. We like say, hey, you know, we might not become,
you know, as wealthy as we wanted to become. And we might not become these, you know,
rich baller dudes that we always thought we would be.
But it's pretty cool helping people.
And, you know, every once in a while over that first 10 years, we would have someone come in, you know, and they lost 100, you know, 50, 60, 100, 200 pounds.
Right.
And they come in and you see them and they're fucking crying or giving you a big hug or they're giving you a genuine thank you.
A lot of people like made us food, like just all kinds of super, really impactful, appreciative people who appreciated what we did for them.
And we just had a discussion like, OK, well, we might not ever be wealthy, but instead, let's just focus on on creating that result as much as possible.
And that's when our business changed.
That's where we started growing 100% every single year. That's where it got fun. That's
where it got fulfilling. And by the way, that's where the money came in. So we went from nothing
to literally crushing it in a very short amount of time by just shifting our focus from ourselves making us money to
providing the solution the best possible way. And that's what we continue to do. When we have
board meetings here in our companies, no matter which one it is, the conversation is never,
we have to sell more. It's okay. How do we provide a better result? How do we provide a better
experience? How do we innovate these things? And the perspective is is not from what can we get it's always how can we contribute more understanding that if we
contribute more we'll sell more right so that's that's uh that's how that happened and you know
it was probably one of the closest uh definitely the closest thing i ever came to to being derailed
from i mean like dude
we're fucking like we signed the papers right you know what i'm saying that guy was like man what
the fuck oh yeah he was he was he didn't understand it and he was definitely because we weren't nice
about it because he was trying to he was trying to uh like be like oh well you already signed it
well look motherfucker do you really want someone in your organization that doesn't want to be in it
yeah you know what i'm saying so we just took the fucking papers from him and that was that
and we never heard from him again so um it is what it is yeah so that's how that happened that's a
great story i love that yeah i don't think anybody's heard the full ones i think that was
i don't think so yeah i think i might have told it some many years ago on mfceo but i can't remember
yeah that's fucking awesome man that's three for three my books well dude it's always three for I don't think so. I think I might have told it many years ago on MFCEO, but I can't remember. Yeah.
That's fucking awesome, man.
That's three for three, my books.
Well, dude, it's always three for three.
I pay your fucking paycheck.
You're right.
No, fucker.
What's it going to be?
One for three?
What's it going to be?
