I want to be a motherfucking hustler. You better ask somebody.
What's up, guys? You're listening to the MFCEO Project. I'm Andy. I'm your host,
and I am the motherfucking CEO. Guys, the whole point of this podcast is not just to teach you
about business. You don't have to be a CEO, okay?
But what you have to realize is that the principles of being a CEO, specifically an MF CEO, apply
to being the CEO of your own life, guys.
And that's what this podcast is about.
It's not just about running a business.
It's not just about making money, although we do talk about those things. But more importantly, the values, the techniques, the tools that we talk about are all
about improving yourself, improving your life, improving your earning potential, and a bunch of
other shit that we're going to cover. So if this is your first time, welcome. I'm here with my
co-host, as always, Vaughn Kohler, a.k.a. Vaughn the Impaler.
What's up?
Things are good.
Do you know what famous rap song debuted 20 years ago yesterday?
No idea.
Gangsta's Paradise.
Oh, man.
Yeah.
That makes me feel old.
Yeah, you are old, and I'm even older.
Yeah, you're an old motherfucker.
You're within striking distance of how old I am.
I'm like five years younger than you.
Did you listen to him?
Coolio?
Yeah, Coolio.
Yeah, man.
I was like seventh grade.
That was like the jam.
No Limits told you, right?
That was like the boner jam.
Like, you know, you're dancing up on your girl
and you're first starting to get boners
when you're like 13.
It was like him and Master P back then.
Yeah, and then you got to like back up
because you're like,
you don't know if it's cool or not.
Was he the original?
But then when you're like 20, you just do it anyway.
Just put it up on there.
Was he the original Corn Rose?
Yeah, man.
I think he was.
He's the original Boner Jams of my life.
Yeah.
Fucking now too.
I saw that yesterday on Facebook Time.
If you're a guy, you know what the fuck I'm talking about.
There's songs about it.
There's songs about rubbing the boner up when you're grinding.
It's so awkward.
Yeah.
It depends.
Yeah.
It depends.
As a girl, you're all like, you know, getting your thing on and then the guy's just kind
of swaying from side to side.
It depends.
And then you feel it and you're like, oh, shit.
It all depends.
There is, there's situational boners that matter.
All boners matter.
Situational boners.
All boners matter.
Personally.
You know that shirt's getting me.
Personally, I liked Weird Al's remake much better all right so amish
paradise oh yeah that was good yeah weird i was good man yeah he is i liked all his songs yes
so today before we get started i was thinking about this you know guys we've we we and i say
we because all of you listening are part of this mentality,
but we represent, and this isn't just a podcast guys. This is a movement for betterment and
reclaiming of the American way of life. You know, taking responsibility, kicking ass,
not being a little fucking bitch, you know, not whining about how unfair things are. And, and basically
guys making no excuses for our situations and going at every day and attacking. And I just want
to say, because we're getting a tremendous listenership now, you know, much more than we
had in the beginning. And I just want to say how much I appreciate that because like forever, man, I felt alone in the way that I think because of the way society
just pushes this pussified mentality down our throats.
And I'm fucking tired of it, man.
The community that we've built, the friends that we've made, the support that we get for the show, it really brings me to a place of, you know, hope, you know, for the
future. Because I feel like all these things that have made America great, the willingness to work
hard and all the things I mentioned before are starting to be and have been for the last 15,
20 years kind of washed away.
And so I just want to say and express my gratitude to you guys listening how much we appreciate that.
You know, and with that being said, guys, you know, we don't advertise this podcast.
We don't put people out there. So if you think that there's other people that are like-minded that would enjoy the message that we all share in common,
the beliefs that we all share in common.
Guys, bring them in.
You know, I'm not saying, hey, bring in 100 people,
but bring one motherfucker.
You know, we're not charging for this.
This is a work of passion for us,
and it's something that we believe in.
And I know the reason you guys listen
is because you believe in that mentality as well.
So if there's other people out there. Dude, bring them into the family. You know, that's something
that I think we haven't done enough of as a group. And, you know, introduce them to the podcast,
you know, get them involved somehow. And let me see who they are. Tag me on Instagram so I can
show some love to these guys. Absolutely. You know, when you talk that way,
I know that there's a certain segment of society that always,
whenever somebody talks about making America great again
or going back to the values that we used to have,
there's a certain segment of society that mocks that
because they're these, really,
it's just like a whole group of asterisk holes who say,
well, wait a minute, you know,
you just want to snowcoat the history of America
and you want to completely, like, deny the fact that America's done
all these horrible things and, you know, whatever.
Whether it's, you know, and genuinely we have made mistakes.
You know what?
What I always tell these people is that when we talk about greatness,
we're not talking about perfection.
We're talking about greatness, not perfection. Okay. Greatness is, is, is an, is a, is a high performing average.
Right. You know what I mean? I mean, and it'd be stupid to say that the United States has
always done the right thing. Right. They haven't. No. So, but, so I always like, you know, whenever
you, I have to admit that sometimes I always cringe a little bit because when we start talking about this stuff.
It's where you focus, right?
And we're going to talk about that today, actually.
We don't have notes for today's podcast, so it's going to be interesting.
I don't know how long it's going to take.
And usually I have a good idea.
Today I have no fucking idea.
So welcome to the fucking roller coaster that is today's podcast.
I don't know.
But we're going to talk about focus, okay okay but people choose to focus on the bad shit and and instead of saying okay we still have
this or we still have this value we still have this good thing or we still have this and this
and this they say fuck it man this place sucks blah blah blah and if that's you get the fuck
out of here move to fucking canada you know get the fuck i don't we don't care but the point of of you know what I'm trying
to say with that is like you know before we started this podcast man and I really started
getting vocal about what I thought I really felt like I was the only one thinking a certain way
you know I felt like I was fucking crazy you know I'd say shit or think shit or type things out and
I'm like god dude what's wrong with me why Why do I think this way? And why does everybody else think this
other way? But come to find out, it's not just me. There's millions of other people that think
the same way that don't, you know, that don't go around spouting off everywhere they out everywhere
they can on the internet, because you know what? They're busy fucking working. You know what I
mean? They're busy building. They're busy busy creating they're busy being productive members of society
and i feel like our group our family that we've created here are those people you know and that's
that's really cool i think yeah absolutely on on that level uh i do have to say this i think one
of the reasons that people have resonated with you so much and the things that you say is that for a long time now in America,
their common sense has almost been censored.
And it's gotten to a point
where people are afraid to say things that are true
for fear that they're going to offend somebody.
And I think the fact that you have been able to step up
and say things that everybody else is thinking,
but just were afraid to say.
I think that's why there's been so many people that have resonated.
You know what I'm saying?
Well, you know, I just believe that if something offends you, then it's not them.
It's you.
Maybe you should fix you.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Right.
Or instead of saying, does that offend me?
Say, is it true?
Because sometimes-
Well, that's what I mean.
Yeah, yeah.
Right.
And like people hear shit, they get upset, and then they blame the other person for being
upset.
Well, dude, if it's the truth and it upsets you, maybe there's something that you need
to fix with you.
Right.
And there's not enough of that in this country today.
Right.
The fact that people even get offended about shit.
I can't imagine being so fucking weak emotionally that somebody could say something that would offend me.
Right.
Do you understand what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Like to where I would say, dude, I'm really offended by that.
Right.
Like I can't even fucking imagine how big of a pussy you have to be.
It is outside of my realm of thinking completely that they have actually in places like Harvard, they have safe zones.
Have you heard about this safe zones are places where you're not allowed to say certain things because
they could be culturally or, or otherwise insensitive. Yeah. We're really preparing
next generation for what real life is about. Yeah. You know, your boss comes, your boss comes
into fucking reprimand. You're telling you that you're doing a shitty job. Excuse me, sir. I'm
going to go to my safe zone. You can't talk to me like that. You know what I mean? know what i mean oh you're fired oh oh well now you can't fire me because i'm a safe zone
right you know get the fuck out of here it's pretty insane yeah so guys um bring us one person
you know what i'm saying and let's let's build the family all right with that being said i want
to talk about something today that is a mystery, it seems to most people, and that is momentum.
OK. I feel like momentum is the most powerful force that we have.
And and everybody knows what I'm talking about. Let's let's use the example of, you know, working out. Okay. Everybody here who's listening
to this podcast, most people have probably done some sort of fitness routine and there's times
when it's just effortless, man. You wake up, you, you go, you do your workout, you work out hard.
It feels great. It doesn't take a lot of mental energy. You're excited to do it. And this usually happens when you're getting results
and the next day and the next day and the next day.
And you're carried through the work by momentum.
And this can go for your job too.
You know, there's days when you come to work,
everything is easy.
It's easy to execute.
It's easy to do things perfect.
And when I say easy, I don't mean it's easy
because you sit on your ass and look at YouTube. I mean, it's easy because you are actually executing properly
with what it seems to be little or no effort. You understand what I'm saying?
Yeah, you're in the zone.
You're in the zone. And people assume that quote unquote, the zone is this magical force that comes into you from
some other place that only comes sometimes. And then sometimes it's not there. And on the times
it's not there, you have to grind really hard and it's really a drain. And that's true, right?
So everybody knows what I'm talking about. Sometimes you have it, sometimes you fucking don't. And when you don't have it, you've got to grind, right?
That's 100% true.
Every single champion and every single successful person and every single wealthy person, every
single millionaire, every single athlete knows what I'm talking about.
When you don't feel like doing something and you have developed the discipline
to do those things regardless of how you feel properly and consistently, that is how you win.
And I've said that a million times. But what I want to talk about today is how to actually take
your momentum and learn how to implement and control it because it's not a magic thing. It's something that you are
in control of and you are in charge of and you can create at will if you know how to do that.
Okay. So does that make sense? It does. So let me see if I get you totally. So not just keeping
things moving, but directing that momentum in the right direction, I guess is what I'm saying.
Well, basically creating it when you need it.
Creating it when you need it. Gotcha.
So I feel like a lot of people just go through the motions and they're in a situation where they're grinding really hard and it seems like everything's extra tough.
It's the opposite of what it's like when you're in the zone.
The opposite of the zone is like you're moving with like bricks on your feet. Right.
Right. Right. So what if you could take the power of being in the zone and always turn it on or off and be in control of it? Oh, I like it. Yeah. You see what I mean? That's what I'm saying.
All right. And I think most ultra successful, high performing people understand how to do this.
Okay. So that's what I want to
talk about today. There's a couple things that you can do that can make this something that you
control. Number one, you have to be conscious of where you put your focus. All right. What are you
focusing on? Let's look for the example of your job right now. We'll stay on that.
You come to work for Monday through Wednesday, and you're in the zone.
You're killing it.
You're crushing it.
It's easy.
You're in your high-level momentum, so you're executing at a high level with what it seems relatively little effort.
All right?
Thursday or Friday come along, and for some reason, you don't have that. You come to work Thursday. Maybe you went to dinner on Wednesday night and had a couple of drinks.
Maybe you were up late. Maybe something threw you out of quote unquote your routine, the zone.
So you come to work and it just, it sucks. You have concrete on your feet. You don't feel like
doing the things that you need to do you're certainly not moving at the same
pace at the same energy that you were the previous three days what do you do okay so you have two
options one you can grind out that day Thursday and actually have three options you could fucking
do nothing you could be a lazy fucker and go hide in the corner and try not to get fired. Two, you can grind out that day, which successful people know how to do.
They do the things they don't feel like doing.
So you could just grind it out.
Three, if you understand how to control your momentum, you could turn your momentum on
and get right back in the zone on demand.
Okay.
So that is an extremely powerful thing. And what that takes is a couple things.
One, you've got to focus on the right things. Think about when you're in that state of
grinding or not wanting to do what you need to do. What are you focusing on? Okay. Are you focusing
on the work that needs to be done? Are you focusing on the benefit of the
work that you're going to achieve? Are you focusing on all the new customers you're going to acquire?
Are you focusing on all the benefits you're going to bring them? Are you focusing on how happy
they're going to be? Are you going to focusing on how their happiness is going to bring you money?
Okay. Or are you focusing on, I've got to send 27 emails. I've got to make 15 calls.
I've got to go on these sales calls.
You see what I'm saying?
Yeah, absolutely.
All right.
So there's two things.
You can focus on the fucking work or you can focus on the benefit of the work.
And when you focus on the benefit of the work, and this goes same thing for being on a diet.
Okay.
When you focus on a diet, when you focus on what you're having to give up instead of what
you're gaining it's much harder okay like for example when you're on a diet and you say i can't
have pizza or i can't have french fries or i can't have beer okay you every moment you go without
that your brain is screaming pizza french fries beer, which makes it fucking just an agonizing experience.
Instead of focusing on the fact that you're going to be in shape, you're going to feel comfortable, you're going to look good, you know, you're going to go to the pool, you're going to meet chicks, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
You see what I'm saying?
So it's all about, it starts with learning how to control your focus.
And you have to control where your mind goes and what you look at and it needs to be on the benefits
that you're gaining at all times,
not the work that you have to do.
You know, if you looked at the,
if you're standing at the bottom of Mount Everest
and you're looking at the fucking top
and you say, fuck, I gotta climb this gigantic mountain.
You think anybody who climbs Mount Everest thinks that?
Or do you think they focus on how awesome it's going to feel
when you're at the top of the mountain? That's how champions focus. They control their focus. So the first step to
creating momentum and getting momentum on call, on demand, whenever you need it, is to be able to
focus on the benefit, not on the work. Okay? So that's the first little step. that make sense it makes total sense i'm actually
writing this down for and as a relevant topic i mean you think just to build on that you think
olympians think about training for four years straight or do you think they think about holding
that gold medal yeah they do that's all they think about right so you have to train your mind and
when you're in business or you're in uh like like, let's say you're an employee, right?
You don't come to work and think about how I've got to sweep the floor and I've got to wait on
these customers and I've got to do this. You think about how much value I'm adding to the company,
how I'm going to be recognized for that value, how it's going to move me up and how I'm going
to have awesome career opportunities because of that. And you think about it on a minute by minute by minute basis when you're doing things. Okay. So you ha it takes training.
It takes habit. It takes a reframe of your mind and practice to master this, right? It's not
something that you can just do. So when you try to start doing this, you're going to catch yourself
thinking about the work. You're going to catch yourself thinking about the work.
You're going to catch yourself thinking about waiting on this customer is a pain in the ass or sweeping the floor is going to suck or, you know, any of the other things that we might have to do.
You know, I've got to be on the treadmill for 45 minutes.
You're going to catch yourself thinking about those things and you have to immediately recognize it and think about the
benefit. Okay. That is, that is like the, the step that's like this step inside the step,
right? I'm giving you the practical, you know, thought pivot that you need to master.
So the minute that you recognize yourself focusing on the work and not focusing on the benefit,
when you have to do the work that you're going to receive. You have to stop, fucking recognize it.
Hey, I'm thinking about the wrong, I'm focusing on the wrong shit here.
And focus on the benefit that you're going to get.
Can I add another layer to the conversation on this topic?
And then if you don't want to go this direction, you can just steer it back.
So one of the guys that I work with is a physician for the Cardinals and he works with a lot of the, you know, the Matt holidays of the world and the different people who are, you know,
big time baseball players. And one of the tools, or I should say two of the tools that he uses to
help keep them on focus. I'd be curious to hear what you have to say about this. He, he tells them
that they should have two lists. One list is what, what do you find most important in your life? Or
what is the most important it's
called the what's important list okay and the second thing is what what can i control that
so it's the things the things i value and the things i can control and basically he tells those
guys you know when you're taking heat from you know the media for not playing well or there's
other things going on in your life like peripheral issues focus on those two lists. What's important to me and what can I control?
How does, I mean, what do you think about that?
And how does that figure into kind of what you're talking about?
It doesn't.
It doesn't.
So I'm going to stay on track.
Okay.
So the point of what I'm trying to teach you guys is how to create momentum.
Okay.
Flip the switch, put yourself in the zone.
All right. okay flip the switch put yourself in the zone all right so learning how to control your focus
immediately and and purpose purposefully is step one and how do you do that you got to catch
yourself when you fall into those negative thought processes number two how do you how do you create
momentum all right guys look when you are in a place of negativity, in a place of being down, in a place of, you know, concrete blocks on your feet, not feeling like doing the shit that you do, you've got to learn to celebrate the small steps as victories.
OK, and get enthusiastic about it. All right. If you don't feel like working out, you know, when you go into the gym and you're fucking sitting down for your first set and you do three or four exercises, uh, in a row,
dude, you need to think about it and be like, fuck. Yeah. I didn't even feel like working out.
Now I'm starting to feel good. Now I'm starting to feel, get some, get some momentum going.
How many of you guys have had that happen? You know, where you went to the gym,
you didn't feel like doing shit. You went to the gym. By the time you left the gym, you said, God damn, I had one of the best workouts I ever fucking had. You know why? Because the gym forces you to go through the motions. And when you're going through the motions, seriously, it's called momentum through motion. I don't know if that's what it's called. That's what I fucking call it. Okay. And that means like you could
force yourself through the physical motions of whatever it is that you're doing and the momentum
will come to you. All right. And this is why people who, when they don't feel like doing stuff,
they sit on the couch. This is why they're the worst kind of people because they never experience
how to create the momentum. A lot of people now think about this when you go to the gym, right?
How many times have you gone to the gym, not felt like working out, walked out and felt great? How
many times has that happened to you, Tyler? Never. You feel like a piece of shit. What do you mean?
Hold on. Resate it one more time. You said how many times? How many times have you gone to the
gym, not feeling like going to the gym, walk out and be like, fuck yeah, I'm glad I worked out.
Oh, I did work out. Okay. Yeah. Well, fuck yeah. Right. And I always force myself on those days that I don't want to work out. I forced
myself to do fucking legs because I know even if I'm going to go through the motions of legs,
I'm going to have a hell of a workout still. Okay. So everybody who works out understands
that feeling. They know what it's like to walk in a gym, not feeling like it. They know what
it's like to walk out of that same day feeling fucking awesome. All right. So there's a lot of power in that because a, you were in a negative state when
you walked in B you're in a positive state. When you walk out, people assume that's some sort of
fucking magic. That's not magic guys. That is your physiological movements are connected with the way
that your brain thinks. And when you go
through the physical motions of doing something that creates a positive feeling such as exercise,
you could totally turn around your thought process and create that momentum. So the same thing goes
for like when you're working, when you're trying to, uh, you know, get through the day. Like I
said, you're a little hung over. You don't feel like doing your shit, dude. The first thing you should do is pick up the fucking phone and start calling people.
All right. And get busy, get in that routine of like working and moving and, and hustling
because dude, 30 minutes later, you know, you're going to be like, man, that was two minutes.
I'm going to call this next guy. I'm going to call this next guy and think about the benefits
that you're having. when you call joe blow
the first time and you know you made a um a good call and then you call mary sue and then you call
sue ann all in a row and you make three good calls what happens you're back in the fucking zone
because you're going through the motions even though you didn't feel like it right now a lot
of people and what i'm my purpose of wanting to talk about this, guys,
is that you have to be conscious of this
because a lot of people will do this
because, like I said,
the people who grind through will do this
and then momentum will come back,
but they won't realize that they created that momentum.
It wasn't just like a
feeling. Am I making sense? So what I want to point out is that you guys are in control of this.
And when you can control that momentum at any time, that becomes extremely powerful because
you can turn on and turn off the way that you feel at any time, right? Like when I go speak to people,
I know how to get myself in the fucking zone
before I go on the stage.
When I come in here to podcast,
how many times do I come in here to podcast
and sit on my phone for 30 minutes
and don't talk to anybody before I even start talking?
And it comes right out and I get right in the fucking zone.
You know why?
Because I know how to get myself in the fucking zone.
I know how to create the momentum.
Part of me creating momentum is how I intro the podcast.
That's why every time you listen to the podcast, guess what?
It sounds the same, right?
That's because that's part of my momentum that is purposeful to create the momentum
of the show, all right?
Everything I do is that way.
And every successful person, every successful athlete, it doesn't
matter what they do, CEO, businessman, it doesn't matter. They understand that they are in control
of this momentum. Okay. And if they don't understand they're in control of this momentum,
they're at least the person who knows that if they grind out a little bit, the momentum comes.
Okay. So I'm trying to put you a step ahead of that and be aware that you could turn it on and
off. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. It makes total sense. I mean, just going back to what
you're saying and I'm being Captain Obvious here, but when you said you walk out of the gym and you
feel great about yourself and what, to me, what's so great about your system and what you're
suggesting to people is that you really do get an emotional payoff from even the small victories.
And that emotional payoff of saying, hey, the best version of myself
basically told the worst version of myself what to do to get lost.
Yeah.
And in showing yourself that it can be done,
man, there's a huge emotional payoff, which then contributes to more of that.
It creates confidence. It creates a sense of confidence
that you have a powerful skill
that you're in control of.
And people don't realize that.
They float through life.
They sort of just kind of take it as it goes.
And they say, some days I have it,
some days I don't.
But you have it every time if you know how to have it.
Right.
That's the point.
Right.
And when I'm talking about momentum, you know, I'm talking about momentum in your job or in the gym right now.
But, dude, you can also relay this to your life.
You know, every morning I wake up, I do the same thing.
I get up, I go brush my teeth.
It's the first up, I do the same thing. I get up, I go brush my teeth. It's the first
thing that I do while I'm brushing my teeth. I think about all the great things I have in my
life. I think about my wife. I think about my dogs. I think about how fortunate I've been in
business. I think about all my friends here at how, how lucky I am to work with people that I
actually enjoy being around. I think about the tremendous communities that we have with first form with supplement superstores with MSCO project and all the people
that like seem to actually give a fuck about what we're doing and how awesome of people they are
and what the, just the ripple effect of that community. I just think about all those things.
And, um, you know, and I think about how thankful i am to have the
dad i had the parents i had and you get what i'm saying absolutely and that puts me that state of
gratitude it's a practice of gratitude okay that practice gratitude puts me in a place that gets me
positive immediately all right the first thing most people do, what do they do? They roll out of
bed and they look at their phone and they see on their phone a couple of things and then they see
two or three things that annoy them. So what do they do? They roll out of bed. They're fucking
annoyed because they saw some bullshit posts on the internet like, Oh dude, you know, cause that's
what Facebook's become, right? It's just this massive annoyance. Everybody on there is a fucking moron.
I mean, seriously.
More and more, yeah.
Right.
And it's a wine fest.
So you're automatically rolling over, opening up Facebook, and seeing a bunch of fucking whining.
How do you think your day is going to go?
Right.
You know what I mean?
So you have to be in control of these things.
And successful people know how to do this control of these of these things and successful
people know how to do this i don't i don't wake up and look at the fucking internet i wake up and i
go brush my fucking teeth and i think about how thankful i am to be me and to be surrounded by
the people that i that i am and then what do i do then i go i don't go i don't go fucking email
okay i go read my 10 pages for the day and I do that first thing.
I'm pouring good shit in my fucking brain.
I get that out of the way.
Right.
Then I go fucking do cardio for 45 minutes or I go to the gym.
All right.
Now we're talking about three massively fucking positive actions that are good for you.
That puts you in a state of positive momentum
for the day. There's a lot of fundamental books and stuff that give you those tips.
Your first energy of your day is your best energy. So like fuel it with positivity so that you have
the rest of your energy to spend for the rest of the day. So putting that negativity first
thing in the morning, that's not going to do anyone any good.
Well, no.
And that's why most people go through their day hating fucking everything.
You know, and they're crabby as shit.
They can't be productive.
You know, you ask them how their day is going.
It's okay.
And it's 10 o'clock.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I'm curious if, as you're talking, I'm thinking about how to apply this to my own
life.
And obviously everybody listening is doing the same thing.
So would you say it like this, or is this a fair analogy or reinterpretation of what you said?
Everybody has inside them a critic and a dreamer, okay?
But with most people, the critic says, for instance, there's no way you're going to be able to lose 300 pounds and most people's
attitude in responding to that critic is the dreamer in them says no no i i can lose it i
can lose 300 pounds but what i what i feel like you're saying that is far more effective is that
when the critic says you can't lose 300 pounds the dreamer comes back and says well i don't have to
this is what i have to do today this is this. This is what I have to do to get momentum going today.
These are the small victories that I have to do today.
Dude, winning is made up of small wins.
It's not, you know, you don't get hit a grand slam in the World Series
by fucking walking out on the baseball field and hitting a grand slam.
You know, you start at fucking T-ball.
You know, you guys have to realize that momentum is created through motion
okay it's created through the habits that you have on a daily basis and you have to set up those
actions on purpose if you want to create momentum on purpose all right if you don't understand what
i'm saying i'm talking about a routine for production. I'm talking about figuring out what it is that you can do on a daily basis that is going to be, put you in the best state
for the most productivity and the, with the perceived least amount of effort. All right.
Anybody could come to work and be miserable and grind out, but that's no way to fucking live. Nobody likes grinding 24 seven. All right. The purpose
of grinding should be to propel you into a state of momentum so that you can get what you need to
have done with perceived least amount of effort. Does that make sense? So that you're flying
through the day, you're having a good time, you're positive, and you walk out knowing that you did the best possible job you could and you killed it, but you
still have all this energy. Okay. That is a super huge key to being successful because at the end
of the day, it's hard to be successful. It takes a lot of energy. You have to fucking understand how to
create it. All right. And you create energy and not only is this good for you, it's good for your
customers. Think about when you talk to somebody, how many of you guys have talked to somebody
who you, before you said a fucking word, you knew this person was going to be a pain in the ass. Okay. Or you, the opposite, you knew this
person was going to be good. Why is that? Because people give off fucking vibes, you know, like the
Jamaican say, Oh man, I feel the good vibes from you. You know, like, dude, that's a real thing.
And the way that you're projecting those vibes comes from the way, the mood that you're in.
And that comes from the momentum that you have or have not created.
So when you talk to somebody and you're fucking having awesome momentum, your energy's at a high level.
Guess what happens?
They pick up on that and they say, damn, dude, this guy's awesome.
And you know what they do to awesome motherfuckers?
They buy their shit.
Okay? And you know what they do to awesome motherfuckers? They buy their shit. Okay. So it's important when it comes to like sales or it comes to being in a business. If you're the CEO, for example, like me, if I don't have high energy and I go fucking talk to my, all my employees about the big vision for our company, do they believe it? If I'm fucking talking about it like, Oh guys, one day we're going to be a billion dollar brand.
And I really hope that you'll, you'll fucking put it, your heart and soul in it to be a part of that.
Or do they, do they believe it when I come in and I said, yo motherfuckers, we're going to kick
everybody's ass and step on everybody's fucking throat and curb stomp every motherfucker that
stands in our way until we're a billion fucking dollar brand. You guys with me or not? You see what I'm
saying? It's a big fucking difference. And dude, that's not fake. It's genuine. And people pick up
on that genuine. That's the whole reason this fucking podcast has anybody listens to it because
I have so much fucking energy that it goes through this microphone into your fucking ears and it gets you excited.
And I could talk about fucking shoes. I could talk about sunglasses. I could talk about fucking
dog shit. And you guys would be excited about dog shit. And you know where that comes from?
It comes from the enthusiasm in my heart. Okay. And that comes from the habits that I have to
create positive momentum that put me in the fucking zone at all fucking
times. Okay. So understanding how to control your momentum is not a hippie wishy-washy blue fucking
rainbow, you know, Smurf fucking whatever, you know, unicorn shit. It's not that it's not fluffy,
fuzzy, feel good shit. It's practical advice that you can use to be effective and execute at a high level,
which means make a lot of fucking money.
Right.
So when you guys are listening to this shit, you know, you guys know I'm the least fluffy,
fuzzy guy out there.
Um, and I believe in this and I know it's fact. Is there science?
Sure there is.
If you want to read quantum physics
and you want to fucking read a bunch of shit
that is hard as fuck to read,
but at the end of the day, just trust me on it.
It's going to make a huge difference.
Everybody knows that enthusiasm is a huge deal
and the more you have enthusiasm,
the more effective you're going to be at selling, the more effective you're going to be at selling,
the more effective you're going to be at managing, the more effective you're going to be at anything
that you fucking do. If you're building, if you're a landscaper and you're enthusiastic about
the job that you do, is your job going to be better? Exactly. Because you take pride in it
because enthusiasm leads to other things. It leads to attention to detail. It leads to pride. And you know, when those people have enthusiasm, you know what
they're focused on? They're focused on the fucking result. You know, I know some tremendous
landscapers out there and you know what they focus on? They don't focus on the money they're making.
They focus on the reaction the owner's going to have when they see their fucking masterpiece that
they've created. You see what I mean? Yeah. it's like what sal was saying the other day with the stuff that he sold
he always focuses focused on the end of the what was it the product that he had some sort of mesh
or something he said what was what was the end result what did the life of the person that bought
this look like right you know and how how good did it feel to be able to help that person?
Right. Yeah. So, so dude, so when you want to learn how to turn yourself on and off,
control your momentum, the first thing you have to learn is focus. Okay. The next thing you have
to learn is that on the days you don't have it, you have to force it by going through the motions.
All right. The third thing you have to learn is to set your life up in a way that creates natural momentum for you.
All right.
And for me, that means starting my day off every single day with gratitude and then positive information that's going to help me be productive and then exercise.
Okay.
And you could probably switch to exercise with the positive information or even combine
them together.
All right.
Is that what you were referring to when you use the phrase create a routine for production?
Yes.
Okay.
That's what you're doing.
You're creating an everyday routine to get you in a state of production.
All right.
So those three things together, guys, can help you create momentum and put you in a place to where you're flying through your day.
You're enthusiastic. You're excited, which is contagious, which makes other people want your stuff or they want to be around you.
It can absolutely 100 percent help you sell more shit, can absolutely 100% help you be more attractive to
the opposite sex, can absolutely 100% help you be promoted, okay? If you don't think I want
enthusiastic people around me at all times, which that's actually the fourth point, is surround
yourself with other people of enthusiasm. Surround yourself with people
who have the same kind of enthusiasm and momentum,
or at least seem to have it,
or understand how to create it on a daily basis.
Don't spend your time with fucking energy vampires.
Don't spend your time with people
who suck the living blood out of your body
with complaining, negativity, frustration, whining, crying, bitching.
Dude, cut those people out.
They don't deserve a place in your life.
They just don't.
Because, dude, they are constantly taking from you like somebody on welfare.
They might be taking money, but they're taking your life.
They're taking energy. They're taking your potential to do something great with every fucking comment, every bit of attention that you give them,
they're taking from you. Can't surround yourself with people like that. All right. So what we say,
focus. Focus on the work, but not, excuse me, I'm going to run through this because I've been
taking notes. Okay. So don't focus on the work but the benefits of the work.
Number two, learn to celebrate the small steps as victories.
You talked about momentum through motion.
Number three, might be 2A instead of three,
but three is set up your life in a way that creates natural momentum.
No, that's three.
Okay, figure out what you can do on a daily basis
to create a routine for production.
And then four is surround yourself with other people who are enthusiastic.
Don't spend your time with energy vampires.
So guys, this is not fucking fluffy bullshit.
These are practical steps that you need to take.
Practical steps.
If you don't know what that means,
that means that you need to take action on them.
It's not something to think about.
Okay, we talked about this in last week's podcast with the sales., practical steps, practical steps. I can motivate you all I want. All right, dude, you
could come to my office. You could come see me speak. You can listen to the podcast. I can
literally motivate you to talking about anything. I can talk to you about anything. You'll be
motivated. It's a gift that I have. okay? That is not the point of this podcast.
Thursday Thunder, that's the point of that podcast.
The Tuesday podcast, today's podcast, practicality.
What can you do to improve yourself?
Okay, we talked about sales.
Today we talked about controlling your momentum.
Extremely, extremely, extremely valuable skill.
Extremely important.
Guys, I urge you to take the time to master this skill it is not going to happen in one day it is not going to happen in
one week if you can learn how to control your momentum and you can learn how to make yourself
effective where it feels effortless you will never fucking work a day in your life okay that's where
these people say this shit like oh find your passion and you'll never work a day in your life. Okay, that's where these people say this shit like, oh, find your passion
and you'll never work a day in your life.
That's true.
But the reason why you don't work a day in your life
is because you are constantly coming to work
with positive energy, strength, momentum on a daily basis.
And when you do that, that is not fucking work.
That is fun, okay?
And guess what happens when you find
that what you do is a lot of fucking fun?
You become pretty fucking good at it too.
And guess what happens when you become pretty good at it?
You make fucking money.
It's not that hard to understand.
All right?
Now, if you're working at fucking Burger King right now, good for you.
I'm happy that you're doing the fucking work and that you're taking the initiative to have a fucking job.
How do you take that job and make it fun? Dude, you start taking pride in the details. You start getting
excited about people's reaction to the quality of the food that you're putting out or your
manager's reaction to the quality of the job that you're doing. Okay. And you take pride in that
because even if you don't want to become Mr. Fucking Burger King and own Burger King franchises, you are
creating habits that will help you be effective to the next place that you go. And I see so many
people out there, and I say this a lot because it's so true. I see so many people out there that
are completely floating through life and wasting an opportunity to improve their future success because they don't
like where they are now. You know, they don't like flipping hamburgers. They don't like painting.
They don't like, uh, doing construction. They don't like this. Okay. They don't like, uh,
you know, whatever, whatever the job may be they're at. So they don't try. They don't take
pride in the details. They don't do the extra work. They don't learn how to create momentum
on a daily basis, you know, but in every single one of those fields that I just fucking mentioned,
there's, there's billionaires and multimillionaires in those fields because they
understood what I'm talking about in this podcast.
You see what I'm saying? Every entry-level job that you have, there's a million dollar
opportunity in that job. It's seven figure earning potential at a minimum. If you can
learn the fucking skills that I'm talking about. So it doesn't matter where you're at.
What matters is that you understand that ultimately
you're working for yourself. You know, you might be working, your check might say Burger King on it,
but at the end of the day, the long-term investments that you're making, those are for you.
That's for you. You know, the ability to go have a job and pay your bills is one thing, but what you do in that job, you go the extra miles, you know, being disciplined, uh, learning how to like, how to, how to do everything where you're basically in the minor leagues
for what you're going to do next. You know what I mean? So if you're just going to go show up at
fucking Burger King and not do your job and not give a fuck about it, you're going to eventually
get fired. You're going to go to your next job. People just wait for the right thing before
they're going to start trying. But I'm going to tell you, what's going to happen is A, the right
thing will never come to you because you never piqued the curiosity of the right thing before they're going to start trying. But I'm going to tell you what's going to happen is a, the right thing will never come to you because you never piqued the curiosity of
the right person through your work ethic or your attention to detail because you fucked off where
you are. And you might've talked to fucking somebody who could give you an opportunity,
but you know, they said they didn't see anything special about you because you don't give a fuck
where you are. Right. Or two, um, you know, you, you do see some sort of opportunity or you do come
across some sort of opportunity and you, you've happened to fall into it and you don't have the
fucking skills developed in yourself or the core values developed in yourself of, you know, things
like we're talking about today, which, you know, it was just a little bit of it, controlling your
own momentum or production and learning how to do to perform at a high level. And guess what happens? You waste the fucking opportunity. You see what I'm saying?
So you can't be just floating through and expecting that it's going to turn into something
if you're not applying yourself, no matter where you are. If you're a fucking janitor,
it doesn't matter. Be the best fucking janitor. Right. You know, there's a common thread that I
feel just runs through so much of what you talk about.
And it's, again, applicable to this situation.
It is that the average person who does not succeed is just one who simply in every aspect of their life, in every area of their life, they're passive.
They just sit around.
100%.
Like in this situation, you've talked about people waiting
until they're in the right mood.
That's not going to work.
No.
But the truly successful person doesn't wait for momentum to come
like it's magic creates momentum.
Exactly, exactly.
Takes initiative.
Dude, this is why working out is such a good parallel to success.
There's not one person on the history of earth ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever that has gone to the gym feeling like shit and worked out and walked out of the gym saying, man, I wish I would have done that workout.
It's never fucking happened.
Right, right.
Okay?
It's never happened.
There's a reason for that.
Because you control the fucking momentum
and you could control momentum through your fucking motion. All right. And your business
life is no different. It's the same thing. If you don't have the momentum, dude, cultivate it
through your motion, pick up the fucking phone, send fucking 20 emails, do what you would normally
do on a day where you are in the zone, and eventually you'll be in the fucking zone.
And even if you only do half of what you normally do on a normal day,
you're still moving forward.
Well, yeah, that's the grind out, right?
That's the guy who grinds.
But we want to be the guy who creates the momentum.
You know, like I said, there's three guys.
There's the guy who does shit and hides in the corner because he's hung over.
There's the guy who grinds it out, and he might only get half of it done, but he's still moving forward. And then
there's the guy who knows and is aware and conscious of the ability to control momentum
and create it. And he comes to work and for 20 minutes, it sucks. But for the rest of the day,
he's rocking and rolling. Okay. That's the guy you want to be. Yeah. All right. So let's re-tap
one more time. Practical steps. Control your focus, right? That was number guy you want to be. Yeah. All right. So let's re-tap one more time,
practical steps. Control your focus, right? That was number one. Learn how to focus on the benefit,
not the work. Right. All right. Number two was- Learn how to celebrate the small steps as
victories. Parentheses, create momentum through motion. Okay. Go through the motions when you
don't feel like it and understand that when you do go
through the motions effectively, the momentum is going to come.
Okay.
Number three.
Set up your life in a way that creates natural momentum.
Figure out what you can do on a daily basis that is a routine for production.
Okay.
Start your day off positive.
Don't go to your fucking phone.
Don't look at all the whining and bullshit from all the average motherfuckers on Facebook.
Go to your fucking brush your teeth.
Think about all the great shit that you have.
A house, a car, decent income, girlfriend, wife, boyfriend, all the shit you're thankful for.
Think about that.
Follow that up with some fucking physical activity and some good shit in your brain.
All right.
And point number four.
Surround yourself with other people who are enthusiastic.
Don't spend your time around people who fucking suck.
Right.
That's the bottom line.
And dude, by the way, and let's hit on this again.
You are not loyal to anybody who fucking takes from you.
Okay.
Oh, it's my mom. Oh, it's my mom.
Oh, it's my brother.
Oh, but it's my sister-in-law.
Fuck them.
If they're going to take from you,
if they're going to take your energy and hold you back,
cut them the fuck out.
And if that's hard for you to swallow, I get it.
But it comes down to you or them.
And what's it going to be?
Good question. You said
one point that if someone's neutral for your success, they're actually against your success.
That's right. So you need, you need to surround yourself. It's hard. It's the hardest thing you
could ever fucking do in life. Becoming successful. Right. Okay. You have to have people that are
going to help you propel on those days where you don't feel like it. You have to have people that are going to help you propel on those days where you don't feel like it. You have to have people that you could pick up the phone or text and they're going to say, dude, you're being a fucking bitch. Let's go. We can do this shit. Right? You can't surround yourself with people that are going to say, man, I don't have it today. And they're going to say, oh, dude, that sucks. Right. If you surround yourself with people like that,
you're not going to get anywhere.
Because then, you know what you'll be doing?
You'll be drinking margaritas at fucking noon on Tuesday
and talking about how your life sucks.
Right.
You know, hey, let's go have a drink and talk about it.
No, motherfucker.
How about this?
How about you get your fucking ass off the couch,
go to the fucking gym,
and then you go to work
and do what the fuck you're supposed to do,
and then we'll fucking celebrate tonight
after you had a kick-ass day. You see what I mean? Yeah. Big difference. Yeah.
So no neutral, no negative, only positive. Right. All right. And I know people, people hear that
and they cry. Oh, you're so harsh. You know what? You gotta be harsh. You've got to be that way.
If you're not hard as fucking nails, dude, about certain things, and dude, there's plenty of places for empathy.
There's plenty of places for being soft.
But dude, certain things, they're non-starters.
You've got to fucking stop it.
And having negative people, I don't give a fuck what their last name is
or what their relation is to you or who they are.
Dude, you've got to fucking stop letting them suck you out.
Because, dude, it's going to ruin you.
You know?
You are right, 100%.
So, guys, that's really all we got for today.
Finishing up real quick.
Point five is listen to the MFCEO project on a regular basis.
Yeah.
At the end of the day, guys, this is about you executing this.
You can listen to me all you want.
You can listen to anybody you want.
It doesn't matter who you listen to.
You can listen to fucking every single motivational speaker.
You can listen to every single fucking business guy.
You can listen to everybody.
But at the end of the day, if you don't take conscious action to do these things, it's not going to fucking matter.
And I know that's obvious for a lot of you, but a lot of people think, and I call them success zombies. They think the more they consume, the more they're just going to become that. It's not
that way. This is, this takes conscious effort. It takes, it takes a fucking, a real life execution
and practice to do these things. So don't just listen to this shit and
think it's going to happen. That's not how it works. You know, years for me to develop the
skills I have, I'm talking about years and years and years and years and years and years of conscious
effort. You know what I mean? Like conscious effort. Now it's, it's now to me, it's automatic,
but I'm talking about conscious effort, dude. Getting out a fucking notebook, writing the shit down, you know, checking off the power
list every day, doing the things I needed to do, you know, and forcing myself through
these steps for years.
And that's what you guys have to dedicate yourself to.
So guys, don't just listen to this shit and fucking think it's going to happen because
it isn't.
All right.
Learn how today.
Learn how to control your momentum.
Take the fucking four steps that we gave you.
Put them into practice.
All right.
Vaughn, what's your social media?
At Vaughn Kohler, V-A-U-G-H-N-K-O-H-L-E-R for everything.
Mine is at Andy Frisella on Instagram.
My, uh, I'm doing a lot on Snapchat, MFCEO-1.
Guys, if you are not following what I'm doing on Snapchat,
you're missing out because I'm doing many, many episodes every day.
It might only be a minute long, but they're good points.
It's something that you will take with you.
We've got some big things coming up that i can't
wait to talk to you guys about um our first book is going to be out around december is that right

anything that you could possibly even fucking imagine or has been done before period this isn't
this isn't fucking your typical motivation fucking book. This is something different.
It's something unique.
I've only told one other person besides the people sitting in this room, which is my wife.
It's going to be fucking fantastic.
I can't believe I just said that word.
That sounded really awkward.
You mean fantastic?
So fantastic.
At least you didn't say fabulous.
It's going to be fabulous.
That sounded weird.
All right, guys. guys look thanks for listening
bring me a fucking friend and i'll see you next time
