REAL AF with Andy Frisella - Losers Leave It To Chance, with Andy Frisella - MFCEO97

Episode Date: September 29, 2016

If you want to succeed in life, you can't leave anything up to chance.  You cannot go 40, 50, or 60 percent of the way toward excellence, but then leave a bunch of factors and variables free to han...dle themselves. Of course, some things are meant to be. You can't control everything, all the time. But the people who truly kill it in life are those who take control of every possible factor.

Starting point is 00:00:00 I want to be a motherfucking hustler. You better ask somebody. What is up guys? You're listening to the MFCEO Project. I'm Andy, I'm your host, and I am the motherfucking CEO. Guys, today is Thursday Thunder. If you don't know what Thursday Thunder is, you better fucking ask somebody. It's the day that we come in, we rip your fucking face off, and we throw it to the puppy dogs. I don't know. It just sounded cool, so I went with it. Guys, Thursday Thunder, motivation, Tuesdays, practical knowledge. That's how we roll. Thursday Thunder is solo. Tuesdays with Vaughn the Impaler and Tyler, the Salmon Shorts wearer. So guys, look, I want to tell you a story today. I want to talk to you about something that I feel is very important,
Starting point is 00:00:59 and I'm going to use a story about myself and one of my passions to explain it. As you guys may know, I'm very into cars. I've always loved cars. I've always been a big car fanatic since I was very, very young. And they're a huge passion of mine. And some of you may know that there's a new car coming out, the 2017 Ford GT, which is very, very exclusive. They're only making 250 cars the first year. And to get one, you had to actually fill out an application and meet certain requirements. And the requirements were you had to have a social media presence, you had to be a previous Ford slash Ford GT owner, and you had to make a video explaining why you should get a car.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Very unorthodox thing for most car companies to do. But with the amount of cars that they were not producing and the amount of demand, because the old Ford GT, the 05 and 06, there was 4,000 cars. There's only 250 of these cars first year. That means there's huge demand. Okay. There's lots of guys who have lots of money trying to get these cars first year, that means there's huge demand. Okay. There's lots of guys who have lots of money trying to get these cars and you cannot just go buy one. You have to be hand selected by Ford to have the opportunity to buy one. So when I fill out my application, I, you know, clearly I have social media presence. I'm getting plenty of exposure there. I do have two previous Ford GTs. And people would say, oh, Andy, well, you're a Sherlock for that. Well, no, you've got to consider the fact that there's guys that are celebrities. There's guys that are Jay Leno. There's guys that have five, six, seven, eight Ford GTs. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's really a cult following. So I was not really sure if those two things were going to get it done for me. So when it came time to make the video portion of
Starting point is 00:02:54 the application, I waited until the last day. All right. I waited till the last day for a reason. I wanted to look and see what everybody else was doing. I wanted to watch what they were doing. I wanted to see how they were doing it. And I wanted to make sure that what I did stood out from that. So when we got two or three days out from the deadline, Tyler and I sat down and started Googling the videos. And what we saw was almost embarrassing.
Starting point is 00:03:24 It was like dudes standing in front of their garage, like basically kissing Ford's ass, talking about how good of an ambassador they're going to be, or they were bragging about how many cars they owned, or, uh, they would just talk and talk and talk about the new Ford GT and how important it was to them, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Um, it was disappointing, man. Like I expected to see some, some very good videos. There was minimal effort put out. Um, it just wasn't something that I was impressed by. So what did I do? I went out and made the baddest fucking video that was ever fucking made about Ford GTs in the history of earth. And if you saw my application video, you know that I'm not, I'm not lying. Okay. I posted
Starting point is 00:04:11 the video. It got reposted by all the major car websites. It got tremendous traction. It went viral. It got people talking about myself and Ford and telling Ford that I needed the car. Okay. Now, after I made the video and after I had seen the video, because I was unsure before the minute I made the video and I saw the video, I knew for sure I was going to get a fucking car. All right. Why did I know for sure? Because I kicked everybody's fucking ass in the one aspect that everybody else sucked in. All right. What it means is, and what the lesson I want to tie to this is guys, is I did not leave it up to chance. Okay. So many people go through their whole lives, leaving things up to chance. They go 40, 50, 60, 75% of the way. Let's just call it three quarters of the way to a job well done.
Starting point is 00:05:07 And they leave the rest up to somebody else. Okay. That is loser mentality. All right. You have to understand how important it is to go all the way, to go the extra mile, to do things in such a way that it forces people to take note of you. Whether that be developing an exceptional skill or whether that be going so far above and beyond your job requirements at work or whether it be doing something extraordinary to attract the mate you want, it doesn't matter. It applies to all areas. You have to let go of the idea of leaving things to chance. Winners don't do that. Winners go so far and above and beyond what is actually expected, quote unquote, the extra mile or exceeding expectations that they do not leave anything up to chance. They force the result.
Starting point is 00:06:08 And I get it guys. There is sometimes where not everything is in your control, but you have to separate the idea of leaving things up to chance or using the idea that things are not in your control as an excuse. Lots of people hide behind that. They will say, oh, you know, well, it's this person's will, or it's the company's decision, or it's God's will. And some things are God's will. But most of the time when it comes to success, most of the time when it comes to getting a result,
Starting point is 00:06:42 most of the time when it comes to producing big and earning big, it's not somebody else's will. It's your fucking will. And what keeps you from getting to that spot is your inability to recognize that you are in control of that last 20 to 25%. You are in control of putting so much effort into something that people have to notice, whether it's your employer, whether it's your customer, it doesn't matter. You have to go that far. You have to force their eyeballs on you. You have to make people say, well, fuck, that guy's definitely the right guy for the job. Look how much better he is than everybody else. Okay. But we have a tendency as humans to do what everybody else is doing. We look around at the people who are our peers and we say, okay, well, John's doing 80%. Mary's doing 80%. Susie, she's
Starting point is 00:07:38 doing 72%. So you know what? I'm going to do fucking 81% and I'm better than them. No, you're not because you're not that much better to the point where it's fucking obvious that you're better. Okay. That we're talking about everything in life here. We can talk about fitness. We can talk about relationships. We can talk about business. We can talk about your career within a company. We can talk about being an entrepreneur. What we're talking about here is the extra set in the gym. What we're talking about here is the extra 10 minutes of cardio. What we're talking about here is the extra set in the gym. What we're talking about here is the extra 10 minutes of cardio. What we're talking about here is you making sure that you leave your workspace spotless, that you don't even not just leave your
Starting point is 00:08:15 workspace spotless, that you clean everybody else's fucking workspace, that your project doesn't get done at the last minute, that it's done a week ahead of time, and it's exceeded the expectations of your superiors to the point where they use your fucking project to teach everybody else how to do something. That's what we're talking about. That's taking control. That is not leaving things up to chance. And guys, this is a skill. This is not a habit. This is not something you're gifted with. This is something you learn. This is something you practice. And eventually, yes, it does become a habit, but it's not one that people automatically have. You have to go the extra mile. You have to go all in. You have to quit leaving things up to chance if you want to win. Winners do not leave things to chance. There's not a fucking millionaire or a billionaire on the face of this fucking earth
Starting point is 00:09:15 that leaves things to chance. They do every fucking thing that they possibly can, that they are in control of every single time, every single day for a long, long, long time to win. They control the table. They understand the last 20% is what separates them from everybody else. It's what separates you from where you want to be. It's what separates average from fucking the masters of the motherfucking universe. It's the last 20%. It's accepting that you're in control and you're going to do everything in your power to win. Guys, you have to develop the skill. You have to make it a habit. You have to do the extra shit. And we talk about it. I know it's a broken record. win don't leave shit to chance they go so far above and beyond to separate themselves from everybody else that people can't help but notice and if you want to fucking win that's what you have to do too
