REAL AF with Andy Frisella - Luck Versus Faith, with Andy Frisella - MFCEO101

Episode Date: October 20, 2016

Too many people attribute other people's success to luck. They don't really believe that hard work and persistence are the reasons that people do great things in life. They don't have faith in the pro...cess of execution. The first view of life allows you to sit on your ass and make excuses. The other view demands that you act and trust the process. The view that you hold determines the person that you are and the success you will enjoy in life.

Starting point is 00:00:00 I want to be a motherfucking hustler. You better ask somebody. What is up guys? You're listening to the MFCEO Project. I'm Andy, I'm your host, and I am the motherfucking CEO. Guys, if you're new, welcome. Tuesdays, practical advice. Thursdays, Thursday Thunder. Today is a Thursday. Guess what that means? Thursday Thunder. Thursday Thunder is a little bit different than what we normally do on Tuesday. Tuesday we say practical advice. That means actual tools that you can implement into your life. That is what practical means. Thursday thunder, rip your fucking face off, mushroom slap you in the side of the head, leave you wanting to go home and think about your life and wonder why the fuck you listen to this podcast. Guys, today I want to talk to you about something. I've say, that's luck.
Starting point is 00:01:31 They look at a pro athlete and they say, that's luck. He was born that way. They look at a successful business person. They say, man, he was in the right place at the right time. That's luck. They look at somebody who become a famous actor and they say, oh, if he wasn't in that coffee shop at this specific time, he would have never been who he is because he would have never got discovered. It's luck. Okay. People are so quick to point the finger and say luck when they see something big. All right. And here's the irony that I want to talk about here. When you take that same person and you talk to them about work and putting in the work up front and putting in the work before they actually earn the paycheck or before they actually produce the result, they don't believe in the faith
Starting point is 00:02:33 that the result is going to be there. They don't believe that if they do what they need to do, if they follow the plan that somebody else lays out for them, they don't believe that the result will be there because they don't believe in the faith. They don't have the faith. Two concepts, luck and faith, both unforeseen worldly mystical forces that you can't verify with concrete data or tangible touch, but people choose to believe in one and not believe in the other one. Why is that? Because I can tell you right now, if you take a hundred motherfuckers that believe in luck and compare them to a hundred people who believe in faith in the result of the work, you're going to have a hundred people who have built some level of success
Starting point is 00:03:47 versus a hundred people who haven't built a damn thing. Two parallel ideas, two parallel forces, luck and faith. What's the difference? Well, I'll tell you the difference. One requires you to get up off your fucking ass and do something. The other one doesn't. One requires you to take responsibility for your actions and admit to yourself that if I do this work, I will get this result. And I either want to do this work bad enough because I want this result bad enough or I don't. The other one lets you sit on your couch watching the most current episode of The Walking Dead, eating your fucking bonbons, and pointing your finger at everybody else who has done something that you are capable of doing and saying,
Starting point is 00:05:00 that guy's lucky. What kind of person are you? Are you the kind of person that will accept responsibility for your own actions, your own beliefs, your own results? Or are you the kind of person that points at everybody else and says, that guy's got something I don't. That guy was born with something I don't have. He was raised in circumstances that I don't have. He has this that I don't have. And he's just a lucky motherfucker. What kind of person are you? Because that simple delineation between your belief system of what we're talking about right here is a 1 million percent indicator of where you're going in life.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Success is an equation. Success is A plus B equals C. It is math. It is not magic. It is not mystical unicorns dropping their rainbow turds on your head that make you grow success all around you. It is not luck. You have to come to terms with that from day one. You have to come to terms that your actions produce a result and that your actions will always produce the result that they deserve to produce. If you're a shitty salesperson, guess what? You're not going to sell shit. If you're somebody that focuses on yourself, guess what? You're not going to get much in return.
Starting point is 00:06:52 If you're somebody who's not a good communicator, guess what? Nobody's going to fucking listen. you have to understand that your actions will produce an equal result of your skill set, of the quality of those actions. That means that accepting that faith in the result of the work isn't enough. What it means is, is that you're going to go down a path. You're going to have weak skills in the beginning. You're going to realize that you're not producing the results that you want. And guess what, guys? That's completely normal. We all go through that. All of us suck in the beginning.
Starting point is 00:07:41 All of us. But what you have to realize if you want to be a true champion in whatever it is you decide to do is this. You're going to suck in the beginning and guess what's going to happen? You're going to make adjustments. You're going to have little failures. You're going to have big failures. You're going to have people tell you you can't. You're going to have little failures. You're going to have big failures. You're going to have people tell you you can't. You're going to have people shit on you. You're going to have people hate on you. You're going to have people do everything negative that could possibly be done to you. But guess what? You are going to learn from every single one of those instances and they are going to make you better, which means the actions you
Starting point is 00:08:25 take after those points are going to produce better results. This is a process. This is a journey. Nobody starts out in year one or fucking month one for some of you really impatient impatient motherfuckers and is great at what they do. And because society puts this instant gratification in our face all day long, the lottery winner, the overnight success, the instant fame, they put that in our face because the story of working 20 fucking years or 10 years isn't sexy. It's not something that people want to pay attention to. But I'm going to tell you right now, 99.99% of the success stories on the face of this earth are built that way. So you can either choose to commit to that process or you could choose to point your finger and say, that guy's lucky.
