What is up guys you're listening to the MFCEO project I'm Andy I'm your host and I am the
motherfucking CEO today is the 4th of July all right and I've got a special short podcast for
you guys because I know you guys are out celebrating the 4th and you're out you know
hanging with your friends drinking beers having good time, barbecuing as you
should be. But one thing I want to address with you guys, and I think it's an important message
that we all think about, not just today, but every day. And this doesn't just go for Americans.
The points I'm making here are
relevant to all our listeners across the world. You know, we've got listeners all over the world.
We have listeners in literally like a hundred countries. This goes for you guys too. So just
because this is an American holiday, try to take the points that I'm going to speak about and apply them to your life. Okay. So guys, here's what I want you to think about. All right. This country, the United States
of America was founded on the shoulders of men who believed in something important. They believed
in something better. They believed in a better life for their families. They believed in a better life for themselves.
They believed in a better life for the future generations that were going to come to this
potential country at the time.
And the risks that those men had to take were enormous.
The likelihood of failure was enormous. How were they going to liberate
themselves from a country that was much more powerful than they were? How were they going
to unite people? How were they going to bring people together? How were they going to do all
these things that I'm sure most people thought were impossible? Okay. And guys, you have to think about every single idea
that has been materialized in the course of humanity that has been meaningful, that has
been impactful, that has actually meant something to the world. All of them seemed impossible.
All of them got laughed at.
All of them that got told they were going to fail.
But yet, where does all the great shit
that we have in our lives come from?
It all comes from people
who in the face of massive adversity
decide that they're going to move forward regardless.
They are going to make the thing that they want to happen, happen no matter what anybody says,
no matter how many times they get laughed at, no matter how many times they get called crazy,
no matter what, they are going to make this happen. And that is what you guys have to understand.
Nobody out there has it easy.
None of the ideas that you think about are going to be easy.
None of the people out there doing the shit that you want to do had an easy path.
They all had to deal with these things, guys.
And the point I want to drive home with you guys today on the 4th of July is
this. There have been hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people in the course of the
history of this country who have done selfless things to set up the platform that you have now as an American to go out and create awesome shit, not just for yourself,
but for your family and for the future generations of your family. All the success in this country
has been based around people who think about legacy. They think about what their life is going to mean and what they are obligated to do
to make things that they do matter. Okay. And I want you to think about that guys,
because far too often we as Americans, as people, as people of the earth, think very selfishly about ourselves.
Okay?
And when you think about success and when you think about what you want to build and
when you think about the things that you can do, if you're doing it just for yourself,
it is far easier to fail than it is to succeed.
But what about not doing it for yourself? What about doing it as an obligation for all these people who have come before you to create the opportunity that you've never even thought of that have given themselves selflessly for you
to have an opportunity, what about also on the other side of that, the people who are going to
come after you, your children, your great-grandchildren, and far generations beyond,
what can you do to help that? What can you do to pay homage to those people? What can you do to improve
and thank the people who have worked for you and you don't even know their fucking names?
That's what obligation is about. It's not about you. It's not about driving a fucking nice car.
It's not about making trillions of dollars. It's not about making trillions of dollars.
It's about thanking the people that came before you by not wasting your opportunities.
And it's about not wasting your opportunities now so that the people that come after you can see what is possible.
Far too many of you guys think about yourselves.
You think about what's it going to mean to you.
You're far too selfish in the way that you see the world when if you would actually open your eyes,
become a little more selfless, look at the world in a less selfish way, you would understand and
see the pressures that have come from the past and the pressures that will
apply to the future and you will be much more motivated. Your success will mean much more to you.
Your work will mean much more to you and you will find it that much easier to succeed because of all
those things. So stop making it about you. Yes, today's the 4th of July. Yes, we're celebrating
the birth of the greatest country in the history of earth. But here's the deal, guys. What do you
have to celebrate? What have you been giving? What have you been contributing?
Because ultimately, that's what makes this country great. It's not about what you take. It's about
what you fucking give. And I want you guys to remember that shit, not just today, but all the
days of the year when shit gets hard, when you want to quit, when you want to fucking call it in
and say, oh, I've had enough. Remember, there's been thousands and hundreds of thousands of people
who have come before you that have sacrificed for you to have this opportunity,
and there's going to be thousands and hundreds of thousands of people after you
that you could potentially inspire by capitalizing on the opportunity you have now.
Success is an obligation.
It's not an option.
