Felt confident and yeah, I mean certainly looked like he felt confident last night. That's good. Good sign They did a good job on the broadcast last night of pointing out when he got hurt on December 12 The push that he did on the right knee and you know, he grabs at him, he misses the rest of that game, misses two months. And then they, the play he made, was it the first or second shift of the game where the puck bounces over the right side and he just pushes really hard, hit runs into the post, makes an unbelievable save. But I'm watching that, I'm like, oh, I could barely watch.

It does bring up the point that he's he's very hard on his body. Oh, right. It's not that hard when you constantly watch how aggressive he is and he's a big body, a big frame. He's heavy that how there could be wear and tear over the years with with that big of a of a mass. He's got his retirement to use crutches. Lay it on the line now.

I would like to see him get rewarded with a nice contract. And that's something we haven't talked about. But like he hasn't had he hasn't made big money for a guy who's been awesome in the NHL for a while. There's no one out there that would look at his medical records and go, Hey, how's a six year deal for you. But he's got to be 10 teams. His goaltenders stink or die in a half.

He's in the first year of his contract here. Let's go. It's just easy here, boys. Come on. Oh, yeah. Right. Right. Don't walk out the door just yet.

There's just, it's just, if you want to talk about a real short window where you can make maybe five or six million dollars for a year or two, I think you could maybe go there. And you gotta watch the rest of the season, right? You just gotta. I mean, he literally just signed a $5 million contract for two years this offseason Yeah, so he just made that money that you're talking about anyways alright

Let's go to a very Ruby on Anthony stole ours and what he saw last night in Seattle Having tech issue we got a computer malfunction up there. Alright. Yeah. Okay, good one. Yeah, I know it's great obviously. I mean he's a big part of this team. We know that. When he was out we missed him, but I played a heck of a game. There you go.

Well, just you know, having Stoller's look that good coming off of a two month absence where, you know, he didn't miss a beat. He feels the same way every little sentence you can say about it. It applied last night. You know, I've been saying the thing that you guys have been, not you, because you're a nice guy, but Kipper's been looking at me rude with a hairy eyeball, that I actually have

a bit of hope here that this goaltending situation could propel this team to some higher heights than they've been in years past. Watching that game last night, he was unbelievable and he's been offered two months and he's the second best goal in the league and their other goalie's good. I'm okay. I'm okay with what you're saying up until just the point where it's like,

but if it does falter a little bit, if it does pull back a little bit, I'm more hyper-focused still on what's missing or what's not quite right in front of them. Well, yes But but they've never had this kid they have net in this whole Matthews and Marner era. Oh, no, no they've never had you got to go back to Belfort and pod van and and Kujo to even have anything that Remotely resembles this and listen, Freddy was good.

No, Freddy's not even in the same conversation. So, no. And I get it. Yeah, there's a lot to be excited about because I'm looking around the league and there's not a team that can touch that right now. No. Just need one of them, you know?

So you're going to stay on goaltending here? It was. Okay, go. When the Leafs tried to shore up their power play this off season, they had Riley and OEL and they're like, one of them should be able to play the point. Saying one of them doesn't always feel great. And it's kind of how I feel about their goalies here. Like surely one of them will play well

in the playoffs, right? But to see the other guy, the first guy's gonna have to fail, I am curious to know if one of them becomes the guy. If it's like, this is our guy, we got 28 games left, is there time for one of them to become the guy so it's not a one of these guys will do it, who's gonna do it? that you're thinking about that

You're thinking about thinking about if you have two starters. You don't have one right? That's what you're getting here. You said it much better than I I don't envision Either one of them going on a three or four week heater in the playoffs No, you think it'd be tag the other guy in as he'd be? Yeah, I think if... It may be that year where you go 1A, 1B, and I'm not saying that you wouldn't get consecutive starts in the playoffs. You can go 2 or 3, but there might be that game where it doesn't look that great, and you go to the other guy, and you let the other one regroup or reset, because there's been a lot of regrouping, a lot of resetting over the last few years. And I just think that there...

And you lose the playoffs. Everyone loses. I think they're just... Many of them are just built differently. The mentality of that workhorse and net seems to be kind of dying a little bit. And I'm sure we'll get into this more in our national hour with Al Mark, who every Ottawa fan and probably everybody in the organization, we're going like, but we need you here. We're playing Tampa Bay. It's a huge game.

You think they're bummed he wasn't in last night? And he was nowhere to be found to start. Dr. Sisonoff visiting with him again? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like you have the chance, like you have the edge in that and clearly the Stars still need to shoot it in the net and lots of things need to happen for you to win.

But goaltending is a pretty big part of it. That's starting pitching. You can win 2-1. Yeah, well, they've lost a lot of games too. These two tendies. Well that's just the other part of the equation last night. If it was a Samsonov in that last night, was that another game that they could find a way to lose? That's a good question. Yeah, it's not like we stole ours, had to steal the game.

No, we didn't steal the game. Another goal, we couldn't let it slip away. I saw a lot of pressure and I saw a lot of missed opportunities by Seattle and you know if they got a bounce or a break. What an exciting team they are. Yeah, is anyone from Seattle listening? the year before. Yeah. And then he moved on. They had Todd McClellan and Dean Evison. As options. As options. Turn them down to go for Dan Bilesma. Oopsies. Okay. Think about that for a second. Yeah. And mistake. How many other teams were fighting for Dan Bilesma? You know what I'm trying? Yeah, I'm trying to make sense of why that would happen and I got to say from what I know of or hear about Bilesma, it's not like he's a warm and fuzzy guy to be around. You know, like it's not like it's, oh we did this because you'll be great with the media or whatever. Like, I don't know. To me it seems like passing up on particularly Evison, who's turned Columbus around as, well,

McClellan obviously doing great too. The more you hear out of Seattle, the more you think that it was like a real collective group that made the coaching decision on top of whatever power Ron Francis had. But this was, Dan Bilesma was handpicked by a number of people in that organization Maybe they're selling themselves on him being with the guys that are moving up to the organization kind of like that's probably Trying to be like the you know The John Cooper of Seattle who coached the admirals and came up with all those guys. It's like oh All those guys are Shane, right? in this yeah yeah basically it I guess

where do you want to go you want to go with the the the lines the second look of Marner Tavares and Nylander yeah you want to hear a good radio ah I need more we got a clip on it I need to. All right, let's go to head coach Berube. Clip four. They, they were fine, but I thought they could execute it better on some situations that they didn't. They normally would, you know, just kind of missed handled pucks and didn't, it didn't execute the path at the time. Because there was opportunities for them to you know strike and get some opportunities

but I didn't think that they executed well enough. I think in general our team maybe execution with the puck was a little off tonight for me. So that's kind of exactly it for me Kip was that I thought on any other night where they looked a little sharper they could have made a couple of plays there could have been something there but there wasn't something there. Yeah, it's You know how critical I am of of needing to see more puck movement It's almost as if they over passed last night. It's like we're with all the boys here dish it about Yeah, I could see that a couple times in the offensive. Yeah, they just overdid it a little bit Did you catch Craig Borube pregame?

I think it maybe was with Masters on the broadcast or it was just like, you know I'm really concerned about them getting to the middle of the ice and playing on the perimeter is like he was pre pissed about it Oh really? Yeah, he's like, you know, I'm because they asked me what that quite and science gets there Yeah, but like, you know, he's like I thought these like I'm worried about them being too much on the perimeter and you know The past like basically everything that he said in this thing he was Pre-worried about and pre pissed about it just it felt like they were Kind of tripping over each other and they weren't in the right spots and I just I didn't I don't think I will say good mix I think when you have talented players, it's harder. It takes some time for them to figure out how they work together

I really do You know last night didn't click immediately by any stretch. Yeah. I didn't like Willie's game all that much, but I'm not sure if it's something that you could keep together for a long time here. I think to your point, you can always just in a flash put them together if you need something or a different look. But to think that this can last long, I don't really see it. The expected goals by line last night, 40% for the fourth line, 38% for the Tavares line,

like nothing there and then 83% for the 85% for the Matthews line so they're the only line that was any good I'm just looking at the leaves on the ice right now yeah it's they're in BC and the lines are the same as they were going into the game yesterday so it looks like they're gonna go back to it tonight I mean you have Domi on the top line but what did Domi end up playing last night? 13 something? Not a ton. So, you know, he's on the first line, quote unquote,

but I think his shifts get limited here and there. So I think Matthews and Marner played over 24 minutes or something last night. So anyways. Is that right, 24 minutes? Maybe I'm not right. No, I got it, I got it right here. 20, almost 23 for Matthews and Mitch is 25

We had a three-minute shift at the end of the game you got stuck out there at the end and yeah Yeah, so that's what happened. All right, nice high stick high stick or no. They have one guy there filming it like that was it. So they were above you and they showed the above you. Like, that's great. Very helpful. Really good stuff. So they all thought it was a high stick. But that angle cannot definitively tell it to them or tell the officials. Therefore, the call on the ice stood. That's why it was a good goal because they only have one camera.

The way you know it was a high stick. So for the record, happens pretty quickly. The whole thing. The way you know it's a high stick is Nise doesn't want to admit he touched it. He sends someone else first down the line, whoever shot it to make it look like that shot went clean in, and then when they say it counts, he's on the bench hiding his face, being like, what is going on here?

And I'm like, I'm watching it, and I'm like, okay, give us a different angle. There's gotta be an ice level angle. I was saying, I was watching with my dad, I'm like, okay, wait, can we get it? There's gotta be another angle. No, another angle, same one. No, let's go to third time, fourth time.

Same angle all the time. I'm like, what's going on? Like, what do we gotta do now? Do we have to, like, if we only have one camera, why don't we get like a sketch artist at ice level, right? and then come up with a decision. You know what's very funny about what you're saying is we used to have a goal judge that was just like Dave from Wendy's or some guy who sat in that box was looking through the net and the posts and he had a button and he's like, yeah, I think from here it went in and everyone's like, well, can't refute that. Light came on.

That one guy saw it, he thinks for a second. The goal light wrong. He's from the city that, you know, of the team that scored. But he haven't thought about Dave from Wendy's in a long time I'm starting to get hung is a really nice guy no I just it was it was like but it's usually the low angle right like it's the angle from the opposite end of the rink that they shoot down that's the telling one but it's like they didn't happen are we good do you have more insight on this like who who's at fault for that? There's been a lot of talk recently about beliefs being interested in Dylan cousins from the Buffalo Sabres. While I agree that he'd be a great fit for the Leafs, I am more interested in his teammate Bo M'Byram, a 23 year old

defenseman, former fourth overall pick with great offensive skills, and a Cup pick with great offensive skills and a cup champion with the avalanche in 2022. I believe he could fill the leaf's need of a true power play quarterback this year and in the future, similar to Akail Mekara or Quinn Hughes. What would it take to acquire him from Buffalo? I'd be willing to give up a Cowan or Minton and if we could get both of them potentially package it with a future first-round pick Thank you for providing exciting least content this season as on the ice

I know he can he has 27 points 53 games Which good six goals is more than double the Toronto Maple Leafs High-scoring D. What I like is he plays 2309 per night. Yeah, they have good D and they must like him. He's played every game this season He's there somehow plus eight he's a very saber. Yeah, he's their second best D behind Dullin. Oh Yeah, you're not a power guy.

Well, no, but power's still young and he's still learning. And why the hell would they trade them? Why is this guy in the trade room? Because they... Too many guys who do that. Too much money. And power plays offensive D. Darlene can play some offensive D.

So, just to kind of follow up a little bit... Good question, Matthew, by the way. ...is that they've got now this Samuelson kid who's hurt at four million. I hated his contract when he signed. Four to five. Yeah. For like forever. That's a weird one. It's a seven year deal for a guy who everyone's like who? So if by chance they can move that money out. Matias. Matias? If there's a chance that they can trade his contract out, there might be a chance to sign Byram. Till 2030, yeah.

So just to kind of spin this back to the Toronto Maple Leafs, like a Dylan Cousins and Byram trade to the Leafs is a blockbuster beyond blockbusters. You're giving up maybe Minton and Cowan. And I'm not even sure that those are the right answers this year.

You're talking about two young guys who've never been in the playoffs. Well, Byron was. Oh, Byron was. Yeah, Byron was. My bad, my bad, my bad. And one more equation then you got to find a way to get Morgan Riley's contract out by next summer Because you think Byron does that yeah, yeah, you're gonna you're trading him because he is now your Riley's not going anywhere

Aside from season's ticket holders, maybe they could offer one night only at discounted

rates to get those fans in that can't afford to go to the games at those inflated ticket prices.
