Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to an HBO podcast from the HBO Late Night series Real Time with Bill Maugh. The crowds do it. They stay in a good mood even as the country's falling apart. It's just I applaud you. I don't even know where to begin. I'm going to start with this. There's a new poll out. I'm not making this up. They asked people the first word that came to their mind when they said Donald Trump. First three choices, idiot, incompetent liar. Those are the first words. And not to suit my own horn, but the fourth. word orangutan. So I think, yeah, Trump fired the FBI director James Comey.
Starting point is 00:00:57 And his deputy press secretary went out there and said, Comey had to go because he committed atrocities. Atrocities. Oh, yes, like fact-finding, truth-telling, you know, atrocities. Comey apparently was asking for more money for the investigation. And that's when he got fired. It's kind of like breaking up with your girlfriend when she asked to move in. You know.
Starting point is 00:01:24 And then, just in case the Nixon comparisons weren't obvious enough, who does Trump have to the office yesterday, right after he fires Comey? Henry Kissinger. Henry Kissinger. Agent Orange, meet President Orange. And, of course, to me, the funniest part of the whole thing is Trump was shocked. Literally, I believe that, that people were upset about him firing Comey. He thought they'd love it.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Nobody knew. Nobody knew. Obstructing justice was so complicated. Okay, thank you very much. Catch all new episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher every Friday night at 10. Or watch them anytime on HBO On Demand. For more information, log on to HBO.com.
