Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to an HBO podcast from the HBO late-night series, Real Time with Bill Maugh. Thank you very much. Sit your fine asses down. Thank you very much. What a happy group, huh? I think I know why they're happy.
Starting point is 00:00:32 The race war has been postponed until after Labor Day, so that's great. Oh, well, look, I'm here to entertain you while Nazis roam the streets. I think of myself as Liza Minnelli and cabaret.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Oh, it was quite a week, right? I mean, it sort of made you miss the innocent days of last week when the president was just threatening nuclear war. Back when Virginia was for lovers. But, yeah, if you haven't been keeping up, the end of the world, that was last week, try to keep up.
Starting point is 00:01:11 The good news is Trump is not starting World War III. The bad news is he's restarting the Civil War. Well, I mean, you saw that shit that happened in Charlottesville, all the violence, and then Trump immediately made a statement where he asked all Americans to look into their hearts and ask why they harbor so much hate and resentment against Nazis. Because it's times like these that we look to our president to bring us apart. Oh, it's it.
Starting point is 00:01:49 So now Trump is trying to make it about the statues coming down. You know, the great historian. Donald Trump, who knows so much about history, everything in history. He says, you know, they're taking down the statues of Robert Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Who's next? Washington, Jefferson? Oh, when his friend Frederick Douglass heard about that, he was pissed off. All right.
Starting point is 00:02:16 Thank you very much. We're going to do this. Okay. Catch all new episodes of real-time with Bill Maher every Friday night at 10. Or watch them anytime on HBO On Demand. For more information, log on to HBO.com.
