Hello and welcome to another episode of the Regulation Podcast.
This is episode 114.
My name is Jeff Ramsey with me as always, Andrew Pan, Gavin Free, Nick Schwartz, Eric Badoor.
How's everybody doing?
Good.
Badoor.
Trying to inject the podcast with different and renewed enthusiasm.
Who is the most fun last name to say?
Oh, Eric?
I think it might be Bador.
I think it's Gavin.
No, I think the Buh.
And your last name is.
the most fun.
Yeah, see, I don't.
Badour.
I don't even, I don't dislike my last name.
I just never think that it never lent itself for, like, a nickname or, like, people saying it.
I was always called Eric.
I was the third Eric in a friend group, and the other Eric's went by last names, and I was Eric.
So, like, I, that's how much my last name does not lend itself.
No, I think it's just you exude Eric energy more than anybody else.
Is that right?
I will say, I think Gavin, no offense.
buddy, I think he has the worst last name to say because it's one syllable.
It's hard to, unless your last name was bang or something like that.
I like it.
No, I love his name.
It's a great name, but for saying you want multiple syllables.
Saying it is not fun.
Yeah.
Adore is fun because it's almost in the air tonight.
It's on the way, it's buba, but da, but da, but da, buba.
There's a singular part to that.
If you only had to hit one drum and bub, Bubba, badura, but da, ba, bu, ba, ba, ba, ba,
I don't know if I can hear him coming.
When I think of that, I just think of Phil Collins' big ass face.
Oh, from Genesis.
You think of his real face and not his spitting image face?
Oh, dude.
Dude, the spitting image stuff we have to get away from.
I hate it so much.
I like that you were voluntarily watching that music video the other day.
So it came on randomly.
sent a picture to Gavin.
That's awful.
That is like, ugh.
Did anyone ever call you baddie, but were there you in there?
No, and also, they wouldn't.
Nobody remembers that you in there in my last name.
No, not that you, Andrew, the other you.
Who?
You should stop talking to me and just talk to Andrew.
Well, Andrew said, but do.
And I was like, no, no, the first you.
It's not pronounced.
Boo.
What?
Boodoo, right?
What?
Boodoo?
Because he has two U's in the last name.
It's true.
So, if you add a U in, if you, boo, boo,
I'm not adding use.
There's plenty of use there.
Yeah, but I thought you were trying to like emphasize how it sounds.
I thought you're trying to like flush it out.
No, no one called me that.
Yeah, I wouldn't even think of that.
No.
I only, it's like a French last name, but I think it's like Belgium.
I think there's a Badoor in Belgium.
So I think it's like an actual place.
Well, they do speak French in Belgium, so it would make sense.
I think they probably speak a lot of things in Belgium.
But like when you search Badoor, Belgium, it's this.
It's like, it's like old churches and stuff like that.
Is that a Bador?
I think it's a church in Badour.
Oh, okay.
If you Google Bador, what's the first image?
Let me find out.
I'll test and see if it's the same.
Now, that's interesting.
What is everybody's first image for their last name?
That's a good question.
I'm going to find mine.
When you search it, I'm like the third or fourth image, but this, it's a church.
Yeah, okay.
We're synced up.
We're synced up.
Yeah.
Yep, there it is.
I'm this.
Some guy named Aaron Ramsey.
Oh, Aaron Ramsey?
soccer player that's gonna be a break show card you have to
chase at some point
first ramsie
yeah there there's gavans
that's just free it's just the word free yeah
yeah that's suck
what about pantin let's see
it's a chair what the fuck
the panton chair
Nick's got Ben Schwartz that's cool
that's Andrews
Andrew has the best one now it feels like it's
mocking you know
yeah it does
But I'm okay with it.
That's fair.
It's a beautiful chair.
How could it possibly be a chair?
That's incredible.
Do you think it's the one unbreakable chair for you?
Like, nothing you could do could break that one.
Oh, I don't trust that chair at all.
It's been around for a hundred years.
That chair?
Says it's the 100th anniversary of the Panthin chair.
The panton chair looks like it's a catapult ready to be launched.
Like you sit in that and it would bend back and then go.
Yeah, for those who are just listening,
Imagine someone's made a chair out of a baby bell wax.
It's exactly what it looks like.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, you form it into a chair.
Like, that's what it is.
It looks like a Dairy Queen plastic spoon that you left out and got melted by the sun.
It does.
It looks like a chair you would have in grade school, like one of those orange seats you would sit in in grade school, but in a space grade school.
Right?
Like future grade school chair.
Yeah, like a 2060 grade school chair.
Grade school, 2060, that's the chair you have to sit on.
Speaking of schools, I have a question.
I asked Eric, and he wasn't helpful in his answer, which is fair.
It's not against him.
It's not his fault.
Yeah, you're just kind of like laying it out that way.
Thanks, man.
No, no, I'm very clear that it's not.
Oh, yeah, those chairs.
Jeff just shared the chair.
Do you guys have anxiety dreams where you go back to school?
No.
Sometimes.
Nick does.
What about you, Gavin?
that all ended for me when I moved to America for some reason
really no school here so interesting yeah too far too far away
for the school to get you I couldn't imagine being in an American school so they just don't
happen Nick what age are you would you say roughly when you have those dreams
oh it's a good question I feel like I'm back in my like just 20-21 like tail end of college
so college I haven't studied you know what I mean it's the final so I think that like these are
kind of a common anxiety dream for people, and I have them, but I was homeschooled from high school
onward. So whenever I have them, I'm back in like the fourth or third grade and it's current
day me with like a bunch of kids. And that's always part of the dream is me being like, I don't
want to fucking be in this class with all these kids. This sucks. You're silly, Billy Madison.
I have Billy Madison anxiety dreams. It's part of the process. I never considered that could be a side
effective homeschooling. No. It never occurred to me that other people would dream in a different
stage of their life and I assume that like high school would be much more common, but I don't have
a point of reference for that. So to me, it's always like me and a bunch of like 12 year old or like
14 year old kids. It's terrible. It made me wonder if I went back, if I did the Billy Madison
thing, would I stop having those dreams? Because the dream is always about I have to go back and redo.
that grade for whatever reason.
Maybe you should try it.
Yeah.
Why did you switch to homeschool?
A lot of factors.
A lot of different factors.
None of them funny.
Oh, okay.
Wow.
None of them appropriate for the context of this podcast.
That's the funniest non-futty answer I've ever heard.
100%.
Oh, my God.
But it is a weird byproduct.
Me and all these fucking kids, it sucks.
Before we go too much further down the road of Andrew
and a bunch of children in a classroom,
I realize the other day we have done a poor job of mentioning
that the Regulation Store, Regulation Store.com,
has had a restock.
So if you wanted to get a Sunset Patch or a black metal shirt
or a regulation patch T-shirt or regulation podcast t-shirt
or a Gerpler, those are in stock.
Also, we're down to one ratty boy shirt, Eric.
We have one Radyboy
shit, like that's down to just one
Gavin, that's down from two. Gavin,
there were two. Now there's one.
Yeah, no, let me
Let me rephrase that. We're down to one Rattie
Rattie Boy design. I'm sure we have multiple
copies of that design, but we just have
two designs, now we have one. We did.
We're sold out of the other one. That's, that's different.
So which was the least successful Rattie Boy shirt?
Both equally. I think they both
suck. The first one.
So anyway, if you ever wanted
to get a Gerbler or a patch shirt or
a black metal shirt or whatever or just a regulation-ass t-shirt they're in style.
That's all. All right. Resume Andrew and kids. There's nothing to resume. That was the end of the thing.
I'm back. Maybe I should, maybe I should repeat the grades. Maybe I should try Billy Maddening it in
real life. I'm sure I could get the curriculum mailed to me. I'm sure I could just buy the books.
I need a teacher. Gavin, would you be my teacher? Would you be my second grade teacher?
Yeah. How much stuff I need to learn for second grade? I could do it. I don't know. I guess I feel like
at what point, it would be funny for you and I
to figure out at what point do we both need
help, the submission and the grading.
What grade do you first think you need help in,
if you had to guess?
I don't know, maybe like certain aspects of
science or not, maybe like history,
seventh. It wouldn't be till the tail end, I don't think.
I think the first, I bet you
could knock out first and second grade pretty quickly.
We did it linearly.
You think that's as far? What?
I'm thinking middle schools
where I get tripped up. Yeah, I'm thinking like seventh or eighth grade
before I have to ask someone for like,
hey, so yeah, like this thing.
This is based entirely on
the game show, are you smarter than a fifth grade?
And so you made it out a second?
Like what? What?
Well, Jeff, surely you would need help
a little bit earlier because I remember doing Roman numerals
in like three.
Third grade.
But here's the thing.
I don't think I would need help.
I'd be learning them for the first time.
That's true.
And I think I could follow along pretty easy.
I guess, yeah, in that context.
I was just when you asked like, what would you need help with, I was thinking about all the
people that stumble on are you smarter than a fifth grader and try to base off that
range.
I wonder if I could just list everything learned in second grade and you tell me about it
and I'll just tick it off if you know enough about it.
And then we can see if we can get through it a day.
This like vague system of now you need to know more.
Go find more out about that and come back to me.
I remember speaking of like specific anxiety of school, but I think of
school yard not getting something. Nobody explained to me what rhyming meant and I had to
do in first grade a paper where you had the rhyme like connect which of the symbols
rhymed, what the items were. And I didn't know what rhyming meant and it was the thing
where once you finished you got to go play and I just sat there. I tried to
convince one of my close friends to let me cheat off them. They would not help. And it just, I
timed out. And I remember the teacher walking over and saying, you didn't get any of them.
Such shame. And then I had it explained. What was the, what did you miss? I don't know. I don't
have any, any memory of the context of it. What I specifically remember is not getting any of it,
being incredibly stressed about it during the time and embarrassed. Then having to explain
to me and then at home being like, oh, okay, well, this is this and this is easy. I just didn't
understand how this. Do you think there's the possibility that you were standing outside the
classroom when you heard about it? No. Not in first grade. Oh, what grade did you start standing
out? Six. That was a grade six thing. Did you do that with homeschooling ever? No.
I did not. Stand outside the kitchen. So to graduate second grade, Andrew would be expected to
display reading comprehension, multi-paragraph writing, addition and subtraction within a hundred,
place value up to a thousand, and to show understanding of basic measurement and concepts of time.
Easy.
How you feel about you good there?
Yeah.
Concepts of time.
The thing I remember most about second grade is one, if you want a game, you'd get a free sour
key from the teacher.
That was sweet.
And 9-11 occurred in grade two.
I remember that as well.
Those are my,
my grade two memories.
What is a sour key?
What is a sour key?
What is a sour key is?
Is this a Canadian thing?
That's crazy.
This is Canadian thing.
It's like a gummy shaped key
that is coated in sour keys?
Yeah.
Classic key shaped gummy candy
coated in dusting of sour sugar
regarded as a nostalgic favorite,
popular in Canada.
Whoa, those are a Canadian thing?
That's crazy.
I don't think I've ever had these.
They just look like gummies.
That's crazy.
The thing I don't like is the ones that look like they've gone up someone's ass.
Yeah, those aren't great.
The chocolate ones aren't as good.
But, wow, I can't.
That's bad.
This would be like learning that Kit Kat is regional.
Like, this is crazy.
Poofing.
That's dirty.
Yeah, they're not visually.
Those are crazy looking, right?
Holy shit.
I agree.
I learned recently that you guys, that 7 up is like a,
is a bullshit soda for you guys in America.
What the fuck does that mean?
That it's like a C tier that like Sierra Mist and or story is the other.
It's Sprite and Story as opposed to that.
Dude, listen, hold on.
Stop.
You're talking about it.
I love, you're talking shit.
I love story first of all.
That's what I was told.
But Starry is almost disappeared.
You can't buy it in stores anymore.
It's seven up and Sprite are the only two in that.
category that have any kind of prominence. Sierra Mist is all but gone. The only thing close is
Fresca. Star, story became Sierra Miss. It hit the NBA in a big way. I wanted to support it.
And then it disappeared. It's on the bargain bin. You get it at like fucking, uh, at like big lots now,
unfortunately. It is a, it's a seven up and Sprite world. See, that's what I, it's the same here,
but I was told by a different American that that's not how it was. Whoever told you that is not a real
American. They're pretending to be an American. And they explain me.
me, and I didn't know this, that
7-Up is a
Pepsi-branded product everywhere
in the world, but the U.S.
It's a Kurek, Dr. Pepper, in the U.S.
I didn't know that. I didn't know that either.
Well, they make 7-Up tropical,
which is like the best one.
You guys talk about that, and I'm so jealous.
I don't get it. It's so good. Dude, it rocks.
That's a good one. I wish
Sierra Mist and Starry were around more.
I like them both more than 7-Up. You just can't find
them. Interesting.
Maybe it's because your American friend is
buying up all the stock.
Maybe.
Yeah, maybe they're trying to get me to invest.
I'm a starry investor.
I'd like to try it at some point.
But I hated Sierra Miss.
Sierra Mist I thought was bullshit.
I didn't like it.
Hey, before we go too far,
well, I guess we're pretty far in.
Should we mention the image
that we released on social
that Andrew drew and talk about that at all?
Sure.
Yeah, can you?
Because I wasn't there when it happened
and I had people like texting and asking me
like, so is it a wolf or what?
Because what the fuck?
Well, I think we were talking about the shapes lab,
and Andrew said, anything is a shape.
Anything can be a shape.
Where did this take place, Gavin?
I think it was before we streamed.
Yeah, I don't think it was on camera.
It wasn't on camera.
It was before we streamed.
We were just talking before we went live.
So I said, is X a shape?
And then Andrew drew X, where X is the,
I'm obscuring what the word is.
Eric, what is that?
That is, when I saw it,
because I wasn't there,
I looked at it and I went oh it's like a wolf
So he tried to like draw a wolf
And it's Andrew it's Andrew trying to draw something quickly
And I figured that's what it was
Should we wait another week before revealing it
To get people that only listen to the show
Get their answers in to see if
Because it was posted on socials
I didn't see any right guesses on socials
But maybe
Weird comment lever
Is this a kind of like leave the poll up
Until someone votes your way
So that's exactly
That's 100% what he's doing
No, no, no, no. I just, I want to give people an opportunity to guess.
He's right, because it hasn't appeared in content.
It's only shown up on social with no content.
It's just a random post.
Yeah, I totally agree with him on that.
Yeah, I was going to make the thumbnail a puppet, Phil Collins, but now it's going to be Andrews.
Oh, I love that.
Takes a God.
Maybe Wolf.
Let me say this.
When drawing this shape, and I've done a few of them now.
You know, people talk about when making art.
the like the sacrifice of not being able to translate what's in your head to what comes out externally.
I've never felt it more than doing this.
That is not what that is representative of is like 85% of what I want it to be.
I'm imagining you trying to scroll this down so you can go outside and play and then the teacher comes over and says you didn't get it.
Mr. Free is a great teacher name.
It is.
Oh, it is.
Wow.
It's a good teacher name.
I heard the rumor is that kids call him Mr. Free Period
because he doesn't make anybody do any work.
Whoa.
That'd be great if I was just a teacher of free periods.
Yeah.
Or you just would like so lax.
You know, that was what you were known for.
Yeah.
I can see it.
Yeah.
I just taught everyone to pretend to work
and we'll actually have a secret free period.
Everybody's favorite teacher in Goof World is Mr. Free Period.
Oh, definitely.

You brought up the poll, the coffee news poll thing.
Rythe was very confident that a lot of people knew coffee news.
Sort of, I had sour key confidence, you could say.
But that was quickly explained as a regional thing.
That was shocking.
I thought a lot more people would know about coffee news
and that you guys were just sort of an anomaly.
And so we did a poll.
and that was certainly not the case
and then I joked that
well if we did a second poll
then it would be more reflective of how I thought
the first poll would go
so then a second poll was done
and that was certainly not the case
I do not think we need a third poll
I think the results are pretty clear
not nearly as popular
as I thought
but the people that know
no I've been seeing posts all over the subreddit
people finding out in the wild, people being like,
I go to this coffee shop all the time, never noticed it.
It's here. It's just here for me now.
And I'm loving it.
I will say, it seems to have hit the community in a big way.
There's a lot of coffee news talk and excitement and fervor
in a way that I didn't expect at all.
It's great.
Oh, we have a screenshot of the poll.
Much closer.
No is 417 votes to yes.
is 139.
No third poll needed.
The results are definitive.
I really like,
okay, let's do it again.
It is good title.
But yeah, people loving the coffee news.
I love coffee.
Like, I have such a history of coffee news.
I distinctly remember Wendy's was one of the coffee news spots
that I would regularly go to.
And it would be like a thing where I would,
as soon as he walked in the door,
it would be available to grab.
So I'd grab it.
My grandpa would go in the line
to order us food.
I'd get us a table
and I'd try to do all the coffee news stuff
before he reached the table
with the happy meal.
Got to spot the 10 differences
on the back.
It's very important.
I was on the clock.
Great memory.
Is this why we make those videos together, Andrew?
Oh, shit.
No, no, it's not, but it taps into it.
Is Jeff your granddad in that scenario?
Yeah, Jeff's
and Grandpa Ramble.
And I
No, those are just fun.
Those are just great videos.
Which, as you brought up when we recorded one,
our least performing gameplay videos,
and I don't know why that shocked me.
I was genuinely shocked by that.
I had to double check.
It was like, wow, of magnitude.
Wow.
Nobody wants these.
Nobody.
But we love that.
But we love Andrew and I love making them.
The more people, the more,
and it's that I hate this part of me.
As I've gotten, I used to love it.
I used to feed it.
But as I've gotten older,
I've learned to hate it.
I,
the less the enthusiasm from the audience,
the more I want to make those kinds of videos.
Well, are they actually good videos?
And they're just being slept on because of the content?
Oh, they're great videos.
I think they're fun.
They're chill.
They're very vibey videos.
Just me and Andrew hanging out.
You've played I spy.
You, Gavin, have played I spy with Andrew.
And you've seen how that goes.
So what do you?
We have an I spy 80 days video coming out that I'm very excited.
coming out. You're right. There's an I spy video coming out. Yeah. There's an I spy video coming out and
80 days audio coming out. No, there's some video. There's some video in it. So you want to put out
a video where 80% of the video has no video? Absolutely. Because I think it's great content and also I think
it's such a salad cream by me that it deserves to be seen. You think it's great
Great content.
Yeah, in the context of what we make as a show.
Yeah, I think it's perfectly in line.
I mean, think about it, Gavin.
The point of that video specifically is to point out things and find them in the video.
And there's no video.
So audience is going to love listening to that.
Andrew switched Game Boy games mid video.
And by mid, it was probably like 25% into the video.
But then stopped recording and never started recording again.
That's correct.
But obviously all of us, we monitor our recordings.
We can see them happening on our other screen.
Right.
And yours is, I assume, still in a box on the floor somewhere?
No, I got two screens on my desk.
Well, your third screen, because you can't use your second screen, right?
Yeah, third screen isn't available, yeah.
But isn't available.
Are you positing?
I'm sorry, are you positing that you know his setup, Gavin?
He does.
I apologize.
He does.
He does.
He knows it.
I just want to point out, Gavin, this is a dangerous game for you.
And I say this respectfully because you're right.
I'm fully in the wrong.
But last time...
This is the Glass House's podcast.
It is.
Absolutely.
Last time I had a technical difficulty and you commented on it in the video, in the preamble
to the video that we're recording, you had a technical difficulty that fucked up two videos.
Oh.
because we did two parts.
Yeah, I think I mentioned it in the...
Maybe.
Regardless of you mentioning it, it's very funny.
I'm just saying, you got to be careful.
Watch your setup.
Because you're right.
I'm not arguing in any way
that your analysis of what happened is wrong,
but last time you did this,
it blew up in your face as well.
It did, but it's for the same reason
in that because my English setup is,
it's not exactly like my American one.
I don't have a screen to monitor on.
It hadn't yet arrived.
You have it now?
Got it now, yeah.
We'll set up.
Nice.
That's awesome.
I have a really cool thing I wanted to share that you don't know about.
Jeff doesn't know about.
Nick probably doesn't remember.
But quite a long time ago,
triband, who makes What the Car in a bunch of other really cool games,
reached out to us.
Because they make a game called What the Clash.
and they wanted to put some regulation cosmetics into it.
Oh shit.
The first official, like, reach out we've had from a video game company being like,
hey, we like what you do.
They gave us a code for what the car, and that was a really fun stream.
And so we had a meeting with them, and we talked about, like, different regulation things that could be in the game.
And it is finally here.
We have cosmetics and what the clash, and I will post photos of them in the chat.
They're fantastic.
So it's a game where your character is a hand and like the body is your arm.
And so all the cosmetics in the game are like rings or like stuff you can do the hand.
So the first cosmetic we have when you put in the code, I'll walk through the process.
But we have a series of rings and a pencil that you can unlock.
Oh, wow.
And I have an example of this is the character just with the pencil.
It's a hand with eaten the pencil.
and we had a member of the community
because you have to, I guess, reach a certain level
to unlock the rings they got far enough
so that they could unlock all the rings
and wear their guy.
It is so fucking cool.
It's a black logo ring,
a green logo ring,
and a purple logo ring,
which I think is a great touch.
It's very cool.
It looks like a fistful of pop sockets.
It's, yeah, maybe...
See, I want that to be the thumbnail,
but I can't.
It's stupid...
So cool.
Tri-Manda's a wonderful company.
I'll walk through how to get it.
It is,
the game's called What the Clash.
It is exclusively on Apple Arcade.
To get the code,
you click the Challenge Friends tab,
then click Join,
and then type Gerple in the code box,
and press join.
And that will unlock the cosmetics for you.
They'll be in your things.
You can put them on your character.
So it doesn't cost anything.
It's just a free.
No,
it's totally free.
The cosmetics,
it's just a really cool thing
that they reached out
and wanted to put some regulation stuff
in the game.
And it's so cool that they were
willing to do that. That's so awesome. Like, that's the first video game regulation or
Fri-Face for that matter has officially appeared in. That's so cool. It's really cool. So,
huge shout out to them. I thought those days were behind us, but I guess not. That's so awesome.
I love the dumb character design too. I, uh, it's the only time I've wished that I was an iPhone
user because I can't play the game, but everything I see, I'll like the games for it. It's like
kind of a mini-game battle with your friends type thing. And it looks so much fun. They make
wonderful games. Not compatible with soy. Not a soy compatible game, unfortunately. But with all of the
prices of everything quadrupling, it feels like every month in the tech sphere, maybe I buy an iPhone
as my next phone that just sit on in case this one breaks. Why would you sit on it? Well, because I don't
need one now, but if my phone breaks in, let's say, six months, to get another phone would cost
eight times what it does currently. Yeah, but if you had it to sit on and had it,
waiting. Why don't just use it?
Because the whole point is that it's, that would be my next phone.
But I think, I think Gavin's saying, why can't your next phone start now?
I guess it could, but like if I'm thinking, here's, here's my, my thought process on that.
Uh-huh.
Let's say that this, I've had the soy phone for a few years now.
Okay.
It is probably past the halfway point of longevity.
If I start fresh, I want to start fresh.
I don't want to start fresh.
And then if that one breaks, go back to a phone.
That is, has a lot of mileage on it, and I will need to start thinking about getting another replacement for that phone.
You don't want to get a new phone because it might break and you might have to use your old phone.
Why would you have to use your old phone?
So let's say I get this iPhone in this scenario.
If it breaks, then I would go back to my old phone.
Why?
phone? Why wouldn't I? What would be
what phone am I using in the scenario in which the iPhone
breaks? Just fix, get the iPhone fixed? Yeah, I guess. Okay.
You can get like extended warranty on it.
I just don't, I don't understand why you would go backwards with,
like, so does that mean in order for you to, because it's halfway
for your phone that you're on now, would you prefer getting an old
phone instead? I've never.
got a new phone.
The soy phone's a new phone.
Well, yeah, it's relatively new.
And it's very kind of.
The only time I've ever gotten modern phones
is when Gavin has mailed me a phone
that he is an extra of.
Every other time.
Old phone.
If you...
So you say, like,
you wouldn't get the PS5
if your PS4 was in shit condition.
That, well, that's not quite
one to one because there would be, like,
things I could only do on the five
that I couldn't do on the four.
Yeah, you can't play...
Clash figure, whatever it's called.
What is it?
Yeah, but that's just a singular...
That's a single...
Like, the ratio to...
As excited as I am to play what the clash, as good as it is,
that would be in the grand scheme of phone usage
relatively small compared to a console
where I would be spending all of my time playing games on it.
Right, but you get the spirit of what he's kind of driving at here, right?
I get the spirit. I get the spirit.
I think you guys make some valid points,
and I would, uh...
I'd reevaluate it.
I guess my takeaway from this is
I don't know
I don't know what I'll pick ways
but we'll figure it out
Boy if that doesn't sum up the podcast
we'll get to it
I guess if this phone breaks
I could just get it repaired
that's my takeaway
the one that you've got now
yes
how would that not work for any future phone
that's my point
that's your point
I'm trying to illustrate
Great growth. I'm saying that like what you guys said has me reflecting and changing my entire strategy of if this one were to break, I could just repair it.
Yeah, I just didn't know how you came up with the original strategy.
Because I didn't consider a world in which I would repair the phone.
Every time I've broken a phone, I've then bought like an umi digi and moved to the next umi digi.
Is that why you haven't plugged in your other moda? It's because no, one of the other ones?
I just don't have space on my, I need to
rework my entire desk and it's a whole,
it would be a whole job to do.
Or you could just monitor on the other monitor.
Yeah, I guess, yeah.
Careful, you're going to make them
reconsidering too many things.
Can I, can I,
I'm going to come and evaluate
your strategies.
Of course.
Book a ticket.
There was something recently.
Oh, evaluate.
Look, a ticket. Let's go.
I wish I could remember what it was.
Was it a strategy thing?
It was a strategy thing where I'd always done something one way because it worked.
And then for the first time I thought about, is this the best way to do it?
And the answer was no.
And I changed it.
And it's way easier.
Oh, I love this.
See, this is, this to me, this is the regulation podcast.
I just wish you could remember it.
Yeah, I'll think about it.
Maybe it'll, was it related to the bathroom?
No.
Kitchen?
No.
Sleeping?
No.
Working? I think it was a work thing.
Well, that narrows it down a bit.
Chucky back?
No, definitely not.
It may have been, and this I don't think is right,
but this is just a thing that I've done recently
that has made life more convenient.
I post the schedule every week on our Patreon,
and I post the image,
and then I do a written version of it below the image.
and I have written out the schedule
every single word of it from start
every time I've done it
up until like a week ago
where I made a template
that I could copy and paste
and then just insert
on the things that change
because 90% of the time
I'm having to rewrite
that there is a regulation break show stream live
on Twitch at 4pm Central Time
at the regulation pod
at the reg pod
I thought
Why aren't you just copying it from the image?
Well I am like I'm sourcing a lot of the time
from the image.
image.
He still has to type it.
I still have to type it.
Oh, you type the image.
I'm manually typing, yeah, so if people just want to read the schedule or if maybe there's
a disability thing or it's just, in my mind, it makes it more accessible.
So I write the schedule out in text as well as having the image.
And I would start from scratch every single time I do it until very recently I wrote a template
of the days and sort of the things that are always there.
But do you make the image?
No, I don't make the image.
why not?
Did you make us,
did you make a shape with your hands there, buddy?
When you said, why not?
Because it sounded like you were going to keep talking.
It sounded like a shape was happening, yeah.
Are you still here?
Well, I've got, I'm considering.
I'm making sure I understand it.
Can't you just paste,
can't you just copy the image and paste it as text?
On an iPhone you can.
I don't, I've,
I don't know if Umi Diji lets you do that.
He hasn't upgraded yet, right?
Oh, you're doing this on a phone?
I'm largely doing this on my phone, yes.
I also will sometimes do it before we, because we get, we have a meeting not to get to in the weeds on this, who cares?
But we have a meeting on Monday where all that stuff gets finalized.
I will sometimes write the schedule post text-wise and schedule it for later on Monday.
And then once I get the image, just immediately drop it in and release it.
So most of the time I am doing the written part of the schedule without having the image part of it.
I see.
Fair play.
Okay, that passes the free test.
I feel like my dynamic with this teacher is improving.
I'm feeling good about my next report.
Well, let me be clear.
It passes what I know about it.
Sure.
Yeah, there's something we don't know
that we're going to find out
and it's going to change the whole thing.
It's, there's no way about it.
Because I don't think that was the thing,
but if it comes to mind, I'll let you know.
But with that said,
Gavin, it's sound like you wanted to talk about something.
Well, I was very inspired a few,
it was probably over a month ago at this point,
where Jeff was tracking some of his stats
and he made a pie chart
and then I immediately started tracking.
Yes. I wanted to track something for a month.
And here are my results.
Oh, interesting. Okay.
Time poo was actually coming out.
Time spent on toilet.
Oh, wow.
I hate that. I've got 89% of the time
was spent on the toilet not pooing
and 11% of the time poo is actually coming out.
Does that 89%? Does that encompass,
is that just like idle time on your phone
or is that struggle?
No, it's not strong, it's just the time in between pooing.
Okay. And is that for a month?
Yeah.
How many poos do you think there are represented in that chart?
Oh, at least two a day.
So 60.
And I think I was just a little bit disappointed in the amount of wasted time.
Like, there's a lot of non-pooh time there.
You could have done so many tail sinks in that time.
89% of your toilet time is not spent pooping.
Yeah.
Although I did include, I included wiping time.
time. Maybe that should have been
wipe in time.
Disqualified. We have so many
great options for thumbnails this week.
Time poo was actually coming out.
It's perfect. I want to get into
sort of like the how.
Like what's, I want to get into, I want to do a strategy
evaluation on what you did here.
How did you determine these things?
Like, I guess what I'm asking is, did you sit down and
start a timer and then like hit like the lap
button or like what did you do?
Yeah, I had to start.
And then I would hit lap and then poo come out and I'd hit lap.
Got it.
And I'd have to do some totaling.
Uh-huh.
So you have the, you have like the total amount of time then.
Because what we have here is percentages, but I'm really curious about time spent on toilet
total.
Interesting.
Yeah, I'll have to recolate my screenshots and provide you that.
Do you think that you had any performance anxiety and that maybe has skewed the data?
Great question.
I don't think so. I never felt like you guys were watching me while I was doing it.
Well, no, but you're tracking it. So I just wondered if there was an internal.
It's not so much of us being there, but like you feel like you're on the clock.
No, I don't think the viewing of the experiment affected the experiment.
Interesting.
The observation.
Now, I will say, I think when Jeff originally pitched this, the idea was that we'd have to guess what the chart represented.
And I'm glad you didn't do that here.
I'm glad that you didn't make us guess because I would be very disappointed with what the action.
result. He's also the only one to remember to do it in the first. That's not true.
We can't ding him for that. Not true. Oh, do you have your pie chart? I don't have it, but I've been
trying to come up with one that I think is worth doing. I literally had this thought yesterday where I
thought, I think I might have something that is worth doing, but I need to get the data done. I mean,
this is shit coming out of an ass. Like, you can't be like, whatever idea. No, I agree, Eric,
the bar is more trivial. Significantly. I can get on.
this tomorrow, I think. I was, I was trying to think of, I was trying to think of something
that would be tough to guess, but like, not impossible. I forgot the whole aspect of having to guess.
No, but this is great data. I think it's good data, yeah. But maybe I'll track someone else.
I think you could run this same experiment back for another month going forward and that the data
would probably be different enough that we wouldn't necessarily guess it was the same thing.
based on the image.
I actually have an idea for a round two of this for you, Gavin,
that I think will provide interesting and important results.
Whoa, round two, number two?
No, round two.
Round two.
Number two round two.
Number two round two.
Yeah, number two round two is what we're looking for.
Hit me with it.
This is, I'm assuming time on a toilet in America?
No, that was assuming good toilet.
I would love to see it separated from America and England
to see if there's a disparity or a difference
because you always talk about how different
your American shits are than your UK shits.
Yeah, much more frequent, the old American ones.
Yeah, like I wonder if the pie chart is radically different
in England versus in the US.
Ooh.
I'll have entire days in England where I don't
don't even consider a poo.
Like sometimes it's like once every two days.
Yeah, that's what the army was like for me.
Do you miss it?
Not the army, but like not having to like shit
all the time every day?
No, I'm used to it.
It's okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm not mad at it.
I like shitting.
I just think about shitting.
I'm not trying to jump on Gavin's shitting here,
but the thing I like about shitting is it feels like progress.
Mm.
You know?
It's like taking out the trash.
You're getting rid of stuff you don't need.
You're unburdening yourself.
Like cleaning out a garage.
Would something going in feel like progress?
Well, yeah, because that's fuel.
You got to put gas in the car, otherwise car don't drive.
No, I mean, I can't put gas in the car.
You can't make progress.
if you're standing still, you know?
But if it was going into your butt?
Well, I don't put food in my butt.
I didn't say food.
Oh, what do you want to, what should I put in my butt?
Well, just, if you were, if you were putting something in your butt for pleasure,
would it feel like progress because there's movement?
Or does it have to be outward?
I'll have to ask you because I don't, I haven't had the experience.
I mean, I've never put something in my own butt.
What?
These are, this is, listen, we're getting, it's like, it's like getting great.
You know what I mean?
We're referencing a very old
thing with Gavin where like every girl
he dated put her finger in his butt
and he never asked for it.
It just kept happening.
Yeah, I just had it happen twice back to back
and I was like, what am I exuding?
That's a lot of times.
Twice back to back is a lot.
Isn't it?
Isn't it?
Yeah.
And I realized when I said
I'd ever put something in my own butt
I put the emphasis in the wrong place.
Yeah.
They should have been like this.
I've never put something in my butt.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because then it made it sound like I'm just constantly putting stuff.
Putting stuff in a lot of books.
Anyway, I don't know, man.
I don't think so.
I like the unburdening of the butthole personally.
It just feels like, yeah.
The whole process feels cleansing to me,
even though I know it's inherently dirty.
Interesting.
This is great data, Gavin.
And I think this gives like so many options for other data points for you
that I would be excited to see.
Yeah, I felt like if I started here, then the world is my oyster after this.
Yeah.
I think that's very fair.
Maybe you, maybe the next could be some sort of the oyster-related pie chart.
Like time spent eating oysters compared to other food?
Yeah, potentially.
I don't know.
That's gonna be less than 1%.
Oysters per day.
Andrew, did you have to do homework when you were homeschooled?
It's all homework. What do you mean?
Damn, damn, he fucking, dude, he fucking got your ass, dude.
Surely there was like active teaching time and then like do this between.
So here's how it worked.
Okay.
There was a program.
It was like, I was homeschooled, but there was a physical school just in a different city that existed for it.
Like I could have gone to a physical school for my teacher.
And once a week they would come down into like,
like a convention type area, a public space that you can rent out, and you could go in for
like in school teaching, essentially. I didn't do that. You would get sent your curriculum and
you would just complete it at your own rate, what was the idea, but there were certain points
in which you had to hit with deadlines, obviously. Oh, so you never actually like received the
teaching? Not specifically unless I went to the physical class. How many times did you go to the physical
class, would you say? Maybe twice?
And did you ever miss a deadline? Or were they pretty
easy to keep them? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Absolutely did I miss a deadline? I was terrible.
Just the worst. The game is quite high, though, isn't it?
Oh, gamer score.
All-time high. I'm not proud of this, but I remember one time
faking, being sick in grade seven. So I could play
Saints Row and get a call during the middle of the day.
and it just like not not seeing the number or anything just answering it and answering it by going like
oh oh no teacher calling and they're like oh my god you sound so sick you stay relaxed and I was
like so glad I answered like that were you just being funny when you answered like that or no no I was
like I didn't know who who's calling I might I just try to be sick because I'm trying to be sick
and I was right whenever I hear that when people have to do that I just wonder like why are they answering
in the first place right uh
and yeah, I don't know.
When you were trying to stay home from school sick,
did you ever do the thing like in Ferris Bueller
where you put a thermometer next to a light bulb
or under your arm for a couple seconds
for your mom came in?
Oh man, I fucking, my thermometer lived next to a light bulb
when I was sick.
I don't know that I was ever sick.
I honestly, I don't know that I have ever truly,
as a child, was ever truly sick
or if I just didn't want to go to school a lot.
Interesting.
The Hulu original series Furious
is coming to Disney Play.
Starring Emmy Rossum, Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating serial killer.
Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur.
Don't miss the three-episode premiere of the Hulu original series Furious on July 27th, only on Hulu on Disney Plus.
I went home once because I fell in mud on the way to school.
How, like, how deep was the mud?
So deep.
It was a...
Really?
Oh, man.
Is it a bog?
It was called like, it was called Cottlebrook Nature Reserve.
I used to cut through it to get to school.
And it was a little bit hilly.
But yeah, in the depths of winter, like after a freeze, it would all turn into slop.
And I just slipped at the top and I just slid all the way down while I was trying to get up.
So I was like rolling around in it as I was sliding down.
And I was just head to turn mud.
And I was like, I don't know what to do.
You became like a catamari ball of mud is what I imagine.
Like you were just a giant circular ball.
And it was doing that thing where I was trying to walk out of it, but it was just packing more mud onto my shoes.
So I was getting taller and more unbalanced.
And I was like, I think I have to go home.
Do you think you looked like Andrew when he got out of his chocolate bed?
Yeah.
Did you have a quick shower before a long shower or whatever the fuck?
No, I had to go home and obviously sit in the mud for a bit and then shower afterwards.
we come on with the mud
makes sense to me.
Oh man.
Speaking of Andrew,
our friend Andrew,
I,
you know,
I moved recently
and I had to pack up
my old house
and as I'm unpacking
and putting stuff away
in the new house,
I'm finding little bits
of shit here and there
that I forgot about.
One of the things about
roosteat end
and f***ase ending
and then regulation beginning
is we had a period of time
where there was no office
and so a lot of the f***er face
stuff when rooster teeth
got shit canned
ended up in my house
and I tried to send it all back to the regulation office when we got one,
but things get missed here and there.
I stumbled on this this morning, and I was delighted.
I forgot this existed.
I just sent you guys a picture.
Yes, I realized I took the photo wrong.
It's the Nanaimo News Bulletin Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 edition,
with an article Nanaimo Man sets every world record in Garfield video game
and a picture of Andrew with a mustache glued to his face.
That was prior to Fri-Face even existing.
That was the thing I did.
That's pre-pandemic.
Andrew Patton,
former Halo champion,
turns to less violent gaming.
How cool is that?
Yeah, I have a few copies somewhere around.
I love that you posted that sideways.
Yeah, I didn't even realize until I did it.
I'm going to get that framed and put it in the office.
Definitely.
If we're talking about news,
in the middle of this,
by the way,
I got a meeting request
from coffee news.
A meeting requests?
So, tomorrow
what?
At the time of this recording,
there's a coffee news meeting.
What?
We can,
I can invite whoever,
but if we're going to be in the office,
then we can just take it there or whatever.
What do they need to meet about?
So,
to see the interest
in us advertising
within coffee news, I guess.
I don't know.
Maybe they've seen your polls.
Could be.
They want to get the word out.
The thing that,
I really wanted to talk about in this episode was an idea that Andrew pitched the other day
that actually is kind of off the back of something me and Jeff had talked about previously.
Andrew was saying, you know, with coffee news and what it is and like the excitement of like how
we're like, oh, this coffee news, whatever. He's like, what if we did a goof news? What if we did,
I mean, Jeff, it's essentially the zine idea that we had a while ago. We've talked about doing a zine
since FIFace started. Yeah. But with
more precise layout and design.
Yeah, exactly.
So the question that I had asked was like,
how hard would this layout be?
And then I was saying like,
oh, maybe we can like put it out digitally.
And Andrew's like, I didn't even think about that.
That's a good idea.
We should also put it out physically somewhere,
which I think is such a funny idea.
I love the idea because we have Nunya in Austin.
That is a regulation spot.
That would make sense to have a coffee news in.
If they were willing to have goof news in a Nunya.
And just the idea that it is filled, it is shock filled with regulation references, and having
normal people interact with this paper that don't understand any of the context or anything is
very funny to me.
Will it be true, though?
Will it be real regulation news?
I don't know.
That's something we could decide.
I felt like I had this idea actually this morning of typically when we've done sausage
talks, it's been like how stuff works behind the scenes.
I thought it'd be fun to do a coffee talk where we like just figure out what goof news is.
sort of lock in on the different parts of it.
I'd love that.
That's like, I just,
I want to explore goof world more in general.
That's why I pitched you guys
the fun facts about goof world.
Like, did you know the G in goof world
stands for Gatorade?
Like, nobody knew that.
A little piece of,
let's some of goof news for you.
That could be,
it was a freaking goof news.
I just,
I think the coffee news format
is so perfect
because we have so many,
like fake businesses from uniform
to thank me later.
like, well, you know what I mean.
In-world businesses,
very legitimate in-world businesses.
Yeah, like shapes, that we can do ads for.
There are so many amazing artists in our community
that are making things, like being able to have them come on
and like maybe make like an ad piece,
like, because that's what coffee news ads are.
Unfortunately, modern coffee news is just filled with AI slop ads
from companies that do not care that are advertising on that.
But like if we could bring in some people from the community,
I think that'd be really cool.
I do like the idea of having some real news in there that's tied to our actual progression through the podcast.
Like a headline that just said like Andrew finally unpacked third monitor, I think would be really interesting for people.
That would be a cool way to...
Yeah.
Oh, that'd be great.
You guys realize we're courting coffee news while also creating a competitor for coffee news at the same time.
Maybe that's what the meeting is actually...
We're undercover agents.
We're trying to get...
We were saying we got to go.
go somewhere and take, we gotta go get a coffee news.
So that way we can, we can totally steal their layout.
Oh my God.
What if we get real advertisers,
but the advertisers can only be other online podcasts?
And then we have like banner ads in the, like, oh my God, dude.
Like we could have mega 64 submit an ad.
We could have, you know, 100% eat could do one.
We got to charge them double.
You know, tales from the stinky dragon, cut them a deal.
I know times are rough for them.
What?
Yeah, no, I'm really into this idea.
I need a physical copy because I realize that the layout and the design is going to come down to me.
Probably, I'm guessing in the five of us that's going to end up being me doing it.
That's going to be a lot of work.
Well, it's going to be a lot of initial work.
Once we have the format down and it's just going to be, you know, rotating stuff in and out.
Oh, you're employing Andrews patented template technique?
Yeah, we'll have a hundred.
100% Andrew's patented template technique.
Jeff, it took me two years
to put that in the rotation.
I'm proud of you, but start day one with templates.
Starting day one with, well, you know, I have the
whole five years of being a journalist thing.
And so I'm not excited about the onset of the work for me,
but once I get through that, once I fight through that,
this could be very cool.
Yeah, I'm into it.
And I'll, I need a physical one to make.
But yeah, I'll get started on it when I get one.
I would, and I'd love to go through that with you, Jeff,
because to me, coffee news is like such a specific format.
got some new stories.
I was trying to think of like,
what would be,
because I think just doing horoscopes
would be dumb,
like what would be the goof version
of a horoscope that they could exist?
Like a little like spot the difference type thing,
but regulation style.
Like I just think they're...
I love the idea as well of a,
of like a on this day,
like on this day,
Don's and Loas tackled sort of thing.
Oh, that's great.
Like this is sort of,
this pitch session being
what I was thinking,
you may be doing a sausage talk for it.
I would love to
see, we'll have to build, we should do this
anyway just for the lore of regulation.
But we should build out a calendar
of regulation
holidays and events, like
the day that the first high five
happened, stuff like that, you know?
And then we can pull
from that, like a Chase, I don't know if you guys know what this is,
but a Chase's book of world events
is like a chronicle of
all the, you know, important birthdays
and, you know, the most important things that happened
on each day of the year. My mom in the
80s worked at a savings
alone and one of her jobs was to
program the crawler at the top
that said fun facts about shit.
And so she had this big book and then she would go
through it and be like, oh, you know, June 19th
is Garfield's birthday. Okay, we'll throw that
in. And then I would just go to her office
and when I was bored, I'd read it. Yeah,
that's so cool. Yeah.
I'd like to do that for regulation anyway.
I was thinking about that the other day.
Absolutely. Just for our own use, not to
mark it in some way. For sure.
Eric brought up, it would be a really fun
thing because we have the cookbook for
patrons for free. Like if you're a membership, you can just download that or you can buy it
independently if you're not. Putting this is like another thing for patrons that they could download
for free a digital version of it. Absolutely. Yeah, I think that way people don't have to worry about
like, oh, I didn't get one. It's like you can print your own goof news. But we maybe we try to find
a physical location. Maybe Nanya would have us imagine going to a bar and there's just a thing called
goof news. I would take it. I would take a goof news. I'm very excited about goof news. I'm very
I'm very excited about goof news.
Yep.
That's a good idea.
I love this idea.
I think it's a lot of fun.
We have to have like a like submit your own goof news link, email address somewhere in the in the newsletter so that people can correspond with us.
Of course.
I have an ad, physical ad, PO box.
We'd use our PO box that way people can write it into goof news.
I love that.
I'm so excited.
I never thought coffee news would come back in my life in such a way.
But when is the meeting tomorrow?
Is that is one, is it during, when you guys are in the office?
It is. It is.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
So we can.
Wild.
Yeah, we can do it together, I suppose.
I guess, like, it makes sense because, you know, as I said, I, the experience with people
that know coffee news is it's shocking to learn it's not local, that it is this large franchise
thing.
So it makes sense that there would be meetings and, like, organizing for ad space and all that
type of thing.
But it feels like such a low-key go-with-the-flow operation because of how.
kind of flimsy and available those papers are.
Yeah.
It's like one sheet, like two page, like front back type thing.
So the concept of there being like actual organization and maybe some level of department
to it is very funny.
It kind of segues into a draft.
We're going to, I'm very excited.
We're going to record two drafts tomorrow.
Go ahead and preview those for the audience so they can get excited about it or not
or really dread them if they're not excited at all.
But talking about these things still being.
around like this or the penny saver. We're going to do a gone but not forgotten draft tomorrow
where we just list our favorite things that have died in our lifetime. And not people as much,
but, you know, more like technologies or, you know, it's not pets. It could be a person. I guess it could be,
but if you wanted to be. It was described as not people. I was thinking more like the floppy disc,
you know, or whatever. I think that's so fun, Jeff. But you can take whatever angle. And then I think
this is a Nick idea, beef not beef draft. I believe it's a Gavin here.
Is that a Gavin idea?
Yeah, I think so.
Oh, I'm sorry.
Gavin, I almost gave your idea to Nick.
Oh.
Take two.
I'll take it.
I think it's a Gavin idea.
They usually are.
Anytime you think they're not, they are still a Gavin idea.
It wasn't?
I don't think so.
No, it was my idea that he gave to Nick's and I wanted to give to Gavin.
All right, somebody had the fucking idea for beef, not beef.
I was almost certain it was Nick.
Gavin's pretty certain it wasn't him.
But I think that's really excited about that one, too.
Yeah.
I did a lot of research.
Then it's been a minute since we've done drafts.
So I'm always jazz to get back into draft lab.
Oh, speaking of lab, I had an idea.
Well, I didn't have an idea as much as I had a title, a name that I wanted to flow
you guys.
And then maybe an idea will come of it.
I woke up the other morning and the first thing I thought of was Shapes Lab live.
What are you talking about?
Like, what if we do, here's what I'm thinking now, as I say it out loud and I have to
have something to follow up with.
What if it's like a live stream where we do,
like the hot dog frame
or the giant Eminem but live
and we're wearing like Lulu Lemon clothes
because it's like Shapes Lab
you think like you know
you think about like people working out
but then it's us building the things in Shapeslap
but we do it as a live set of a prepared video
we do it as a live stream like in a
vintage live stream. Shapeslav Live.
I don't under I guess
I guess I'm confused about what we're
what we're doing. I think
in Shapes Lab live
we could build a live
hot dog frame, which was what Gavin wants to make.
Or we could build a live...
Is that a shape?
Hot dog frame is a square, dude.
Yeah, square rectangle.
Okay.
Okay, I get...
No, I mean, you got me.
What isn't a shape?
Everything's a shape.
Yeah, you know, you're right.
You can talk to Andrew about that.
I don't know how to draw that.
I also would like to reiterate.
I had a name more than an idea,
and I was hoping that the four of you
would use your talents to help fill out the idea.
Well, I feel like other stuff
that we've talked about
that no one
that no one really wants
to do
can also fit
into shape slab
like we have that
fricking
porta potty
we could
rebuild it
as a part
of shape slab
live
true true
true
you did buy
the rivet gun
we should put it
to use
we can't
yeah we have to
drill out the rivets
and then re-rivet
it back together
I will say
in defense of
not doing that
yet
we've got like
nine months
left in this house
and then we're getting the fuck out of Dodge.
I'm trying to have less than nine months in this house.
Yeah.
We could have even less.
Like, we could just, yeah, we could have as little as you want.
We just need to have a meeting with a real estate agent to get the ball rolling.
And then we can find anywhere else to live.
And we just got to do it Jeff style.
You know, just sign a lease, break a lease.
You know, that seems to be working out for him.
So it shouldn't be a problem, right?
I'm not saying we should break a lease.
I still haven't broken my other lease.
I'm still on the fucking hook for it.
I need that house to rent badly.
Are we rat free?
There were not turds last time I came in,
but the time before there were new turds in a different area.
Yeah, but wasn't somebody coming in to inspect the rat attic?
Yeah, I haven't heard back yet from the landlord,
but I'll check in with him.
I mean, that sounds positive, right?
Maybe it's a positive.
That is positive.
I think it's incredibly positive.
And he seems to want to be proactive.
He seems as horrified by.
the rats as we are and I know he wants to do a good job for us and buy us. But even if we
eradicated every rat within a fucking city block of our building, I want the fuck out at some
point in the next nine months. It's a great first spot where we knew what we didn't know what we
didn't know. So now we know. I don't want to fall through the floor. You know, I'm scared of
every smell in the place. I just, I think it's time. I think it's been a great spot for us to figure it out.
a great first spot, Eric. You're absolutely right.
But I think we're in the, we're in the vicinity
of a second spot.
Do we want to have the same vibe though? Like, kind of shitty?
Well, I mean, yeah, I mean, we got to go with it.
Yeah, I don't think we have a choice.
I think that's probably just going to be kind of what it is.
I don't know that it's a, man, wouldn't it be really awesome if we had something that
was really cool and cutting edge? It would be very cool.
I don't know if that's, I don't know if we're capable of that.
But I guess it's a fun thing to keep in mind.
I one time visited a YouTube
where they had a giant airplane
hanging inside the building
like we could go that route
No
Maybe not
maybe not the budget for that
All I want for the new place is you guys
To build me ramps so I could get over cables
Because I can't get over cables is Dilbot
A lot of the cables you use
Need some 3D printed ramps
Well I think I think the issue is that
The cables have to run all throughout this house
Like we don't have a choice
So it's like this is just sort of what
all these cables are everywhere
so we would have better cable runs
we could do ceiling
ceiling
cables
yeah exactly
we can
we can make it more
accessible
for those with wheels
those with wheels
me as dill
would appreciate
so I've been trying to investigate
and I can't leave one of the rooms
so
stuck in that
yeah you said you were going to
investigate the other day, but I didn't see you.
I loaded in to do it, but also because the cable broke that would snap off if I'm being charged,
which I was at the time, I can't disconnect from it with force.
Yeah.
I think we should charge you on a table so that you could disconnect with gravity.
Oh.
That's how it broke to begin with, didn't it?
Yes.
How could it break again?
That's true.
Tush.
There's so, so many breakable parts on Dilbot.
but I will say
that's sort of my last thing
and circling back to coffee naves
I was so delighted
when I before the episode came out
I reached out to Tina
to see if they had thoughts or experiences
with coffee news
they immediately knew it not only then they know it
they had a screenshot pre-saved
ready to go in the past
of their excitement of finding
coffee news in the wild
Tina gets it once again
you guys really are the same person
Yeah, Tina is the Andrew Knower.
I don't want to put that on them, but they get it.
Circling back to rats now, Gavin, you set up a rat cam.
Have you had any hits on the rat can yet?
Oh, yeah. You set up like a rat cam?
I'm scrolling through, right as we speak,
I'm looking mainly at night. I'm just sort of scroll wheeling through when it's dark,
and I'm not seeing any action, which is wild because the new rat turds we found were fresh,
and they were not under the intake thing.
Yeah, they weren't an event.
Interesting.
But yeah, I've not seen...
I think these rats are crafty
and they know they're being observed.
Or shy.
They're shy rats.
I think it's entirely possible.
Oh, Christ.
Yeah, I haven't seen nothing on Rat Cam.
Keep me updated, please.
On Rat Cam.
Have you seen what it looks like?
No.
I didn't know anything about Rat Cam.
Let me get you a little...
He set it up last week.
Is it just like a cam pointing into the vents,
or what is Rat Cam?
It's just on the floor looking at kind of where we found the new poos.
Looks like this.
That's awesome.
Wow, that's kind of creepy looking.
That says rat cam.
Kind of where the swiffer is is where the rat turds started.
They're onto the carpet, yeah.
I don't like that you keep calling it rat cam, and it's pointed directly at my desk.
Well, obviously, we need to see all rats.
It's for everyone's safety.
Let's put a ratty boy shirt in the background of this shot as well
We only have one left
Hurry hurry and get the ratty boy shirt now
Because once it's sold out it's never coming back
That's my solemn vow to you
Hey you know how we do random live stream sometimes
Yeah like shapes lab live
What up one night we just let rat cam run live
Ratcam run live rackam live
I like that idea
It's live all the time.
Is rat cam attached to a fake rat to try to draw the rat to it?
I'm not trying to get the camera shagged.
I just want to see a rat.
Okay, you know what?
You sold me on it being a bad idea,
because I also don't want to see the POV of that.
I don't remember if this...
I don't remember if this was talked about on the podcast,
but in like December of last year,
Casey Wilson, who's an actress,
was going to,
going to like a vacation home and there were rats in the vacation home.
So she set up a revolving camera system where there are like five cameras throughout the house.
And it was just a 24-7 live stream.
And it was called Rat Watch.
And if anyone saw rats at any time they were to report the rats.
So I think it's a good idea.
I think that I think what I guess what I'm saying is there's a market for this.
I would love
for us to do
like an overnight rat cam
on Twitch every once in a while
I think that'd be so cool
Shapes Lab rat watch
Huh
Okay
What
Shapes Lab presents rat watch
Slop your rat bingo
And the only prompt is see a rat
Surely we should just stream
From Andrew's eyes then
Because at least then we could have
We could, the stream could tell him
Where to go
Not with all these fucking cables on the floor
I'll tell you that much
Quality of this camera seems way better than Andrew
You can be honest
I don't know
I don't know about that.
I don't know about that.
I think this camera's 4K.
I just posted a little preview.
I know this version.
I think we know about that.
Yeah.
I don't know about that.
Don't count it'll out.
I could stick this one to your head if you want.
Ooh.
Oh, I like that.
We can make a poor man's VR.
It could be like the Blair Rat Project
and it's just me walking around the office
in my little camera.
See a rat looking in the car.
the corner.
The Dill Rat project.
Hey,
you said bingo.
Speaking of bingo,
I am back on Sloppy Joe's bingo in a big way.
You move into a new place.
You want to mix things up.
So I've decided to get really into sloppy jose bingo.
I've started a new list of prompts.
My goal is to add about a dozen new prompts.
And then I want to remove about 20 that I don't think we need anymore.
So I want to refresh the lineup.
I'll keep you guys informed.
But I'd like to do a new Slopy Jos bingo here.
the next, you know, month or so
with a whole, like, a whole new refreshed bingo board.
I love it.
Have we ever drafted new prompts?
We've selected them with the audience, with Falcons.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't, I think we did a Halloween prompt draft.
Halloween, yeah.
I think that's exactly, I think that's what it was.
But it wasn't us making prompts.
It was we built, uh, there was a giant list of prompts that the audience had made
and we were drafting those could put into play.
Yeah.
But I just think at 2026, things have changed.
And, uh, I want to get.
get rid of some some stuff's duplicative some stuff just doesn't come up like pink taxi got to go right
there's a few yeah yeah so anyway uh keep you guys informed but we should please put that on the books
sometime in the next month or so to do one i really hope uh that there's a sloppy joe location in
grand theft out of six and that we could do in gta there has to be there has to be right
gta bingo do a video game version of sloppy jo bingo would be a phenomenal evening i'd be very
excited about that maybe rock star i'll make a mini game that'd be so funny that'd be so funny
if that was our first piece of content in GTA6.
It should be.
Dude, that'd be amazing.
It's a great idea.
We just need them to release online at some point.
We'll see you in 2028 or 2029, maybe.
Yeah.
Why'd they wait three years to release their first GTA6 video?
Okay, we gotta get out of here.
We gotta wrap this up.
You know how 501 is the best part of the week?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think like noon on a Thursday is the worst part of the week.
Because the podcast is about to be over?
Yeah, because we stopped doing this.
You get the worst part of the week
followed up by the best part of the week
in pretty short measure though, which is cool.
There's barely 24 hours difference between the two.
That's true. And we got hooky day coming up.
We just had hooky day.
I mean, it was yesterday.
You guys didn't play hooky?
It was yesterday.
Dude, Emily took off work. We played hooky all day long.
We had the fucking time of our lives.
It was great.
I missed it.
Shit.
Oh, you did.
dude. Oh, man.
I was working like a bitch.
Me too!
You guys shouldn't have done that. You should have taken
a hooky day. We ate so many
snacks. Yeah, we ate so many snacks yesterday.
I ended up feeling sick like the rest of the day
because we ate so many snacks. Same. Same. Emily and I went to Bahama
bucks and a donut shop later in the afternoon
and had donuts. I was so fucking sick.
It was awesome. Yeah.
It was the best.
Don't worry.
Next hooky day. Last hooky day of the years coming up.
I believe it's September 10th.
910.
910.
So it's not too far down the road.
7.
What was it?
When's 8-9?
We are...
What?
We did 7-8.
We did 7-8.
Now we do 9-10.
Yeah.
You're right.
8-9 would be an unofficial, unsanctioned hooky day.
That's pretty ridiculous.
I think that one should be open to those who forgot about 7-8.
Is that your hooky makeup day?
Yeah.
August 9th is hooky makeup?
I'm looking at the calendar for 9-10.
It's a weekend, right?
It says Sunday?
So we're looking at 8.
No, it's a Tuesday, I think.
I get confused because all the dates are backwards.
September 10th, boys, to Thursday.
Oh, Thursday.
Gonna have to schedule.
We have to record the podcast on Wednesday or Friday.
Oof. Crazy.
It is what it is.
It is what it is.
We abide by the laws of goof world.
Speaking of.
And now we end the podcast.
Beyond the lookout for goof news in your local coffee shop in the near to not so near to never future.
I'm so excited to meet with them.
We should openly encourage local establishments to just download and print out their own versions to give away at their shops.
Are they breaking some sort of IP law?
Who's going to enforce it if it's our product?
Oh, our one. Oh, yeah, for sure.
All right, well, there you go.
Thanks to listen to another episode of the Regulation Podcast.
Strong finish by Gavin.
This has been episode 114.
And you can tell, listening to us, you can tell, we're really honed in.
We're iron sharpens iron.
And rat sharpens rat.
There's no iron.
There's no iron here.
We'll see you next week.
Thank you so much.
Bye.
On July 16th, the Hawk lands on Netflix.
From the mind of Will Farrell.
Oh, Mama, I'm back.
Come in a new original series.
Get ready, get ready.
That's it.
Did I stutter?
When an iconic pro golfer.
Lonnie?
Lonnie.
Hocked out!
Takes one last swing at greatness.
You were a big shot golfer.
I still am a big shot golfer.
No one.
Dad, I'm the Hawk now.
Will stand in his way.
That's how it's done.
The Hawk, only on Netflix, July 16th.
