Rev Left Radio - Announcement: Rev Left Summer Design & the Socialism Conference

Hey everybody, I just wanted to jump on really quick to make a short announcement. David and I have thought for a long time and got a lot of feedback from people saying that they want another way to support the show. There's Patreon, there's Buy Me a Coffee. But some people are wanting like summer merch. You know, people have mentioned tank tops or hats or when it gets cold hoodies. And we have our little collaboration with Goods for the People. Goods for the people.com. We have two designs up on that website right now.

that, you know, and go support them. We get zero money from that. It's just a collaboration to help their little, you know, cooperative fashion design thing to get going and to have some revenue to continue to develop. And, you know, we worked with their artists and we have really cool designs over there. But we wanted to do something separate with the design from our friend, Coffee Stain Comics. Nick from Coffee Stain Comics. He made stickers for us. And in the process of making those stickers made a totally unique.

design that he drew, you know, he just drew himself. That's a Rev. Left Radio, sort of like unique logo, symbol thing. It says the Rev. Left Radio with hammers and sickles and a lightning bolt going through it. It's really cool, really unique. We compensated Nick and we'll give him a bunch of the free merch as well. He gave us the green light to turn that sticker design into clothing design. And so we're going to do it through Patreon. Patreon has this little option for merch that you can.

can do through Patreon to make it as easy as possible. And people, you know, you don't even have to be a member of Patreon to do it. But it's going to go up. It's up now. You can go check it out. For summer, we have men and women's t-shirts, men and women's tank tops, and also hats for the summer. And in the fall, we're going to do hoodies and coffee mugs and stocking caps as it gets colder out around the country and around the world.

So that's coming in the fall. and about $5 to $9 of the price goes to supporting us. So this is a way that you can get a cool shirt. We kept the prices reasonably as low as we could while allowing a little bit of margin to come and support us. So if you don't like the monthly subscription of Patreon, you're not really wanting to do the one-time donation through Buy Me a Coffee. You want something immediately in exchange while also helping the show.

Here is a third way for you to do that, to support the show, I mean. And in exchange, you get this really unique. totally, you know, unique design that I worked with, Nick, to create. And, yeah, you get a, you get a rocket. I got a tank top myself. I got a hat myself. I'm wearing it right now. I love it.

The tank top doesn't shrink in the dryer, which is huge. I'm, you know, I'm 6'2, so often when I buy clothing, they're, you know, they're right at the waistline where they look decent before you wash them. But by the time you wash them, it's fucking a belly button shirt. I hate that. And so we tried really hard to find material that doesn't do that. The t-shirts, we're going to confirm that. But the tank tops for sure do not have that problem. So I assume the t-shirts won't as well.

So all that is to say, you can go on Patreon. There'll be a link to the store directly in the show notes of this announcement episode. And people can go get some cool shit from a unique design, from an artist who's also a listener of Rev Left. and also support the show. In the meantime, and I also want to re-mentioned the fact that I got accepted to speak at the Socialism Conference this September in Chicago. The Socialism Conference runs from September 4th through September 7th. I don't have the exact time and date quite yet, but I did get accepted.

I will be giving a speech there followed by a 45-minute Q&A. I would love for Rev. Left listeners to attend that, to show support for me as I get up and try to speak in front of an audience, Having an audience there would be nice. I've never been to the Socialism Conference, so I'm not sure how it's structured. But it's a cool opportunity to get out there to meet comrades, to meet listeners, and to make cool connections, and hopefully to offer something meaningful to the conference itself. And if you are on our Patreon, at any tier, we are going to do a Patreon-only meet-up after I give my talk at the Socialism Conference. So just patrons. We'll meet up at some public place bar restaurant
