Hello, everybody, and welcome back to Rev. Left Radio.
So we have been on the air for five years.
It's been a whirlwind.
It's been absolutely fascinating.
I've learned so much from my guests.
I've been so humbled by our audience.
We never expected Rev.
Left to even break the bounds of our local community
when we started doing this show as basically a media,
an education arm of our community organizing efforts here in Omaha.
But very quickly, it became a national and then an international show, much to our surprise, and it's just been a fascinating ride.
And we thought that it'd be really cool to mark our five years to kind of look back through our catalog and pull out some of the best ever, if you will, Rev Left episodes, and re-put them up here on the feed for the entire month of April.
Every episode brings in new listeners.
Lots of listeners have just come on board in the last year.
So, you know, episodes deeper in our catalog might get overlooked or never even seen by some listeners, especially newer listeners.
And so we thought this would be a really cool way to rectify that, you know, throw back up some of our best of all time episodes and allow, you know, me and David have a little bit of a break.
We haven't taken any time off of Rev. Left since we started five years ago.
And while we'll still be doing guerrilla history and Red Menace and Rev. Left Patreon episodes this month, I'm going to be working on some of our time.
other stuff, focusing on my family, trying to deepen actually my meditation practice, and just
see if I can, you know, use this month to kind of get offline, focus on mental health, focus on
family, and in the meantime, relive and re-give some of these best ever episodes. So these episodes
span the sort of gamut over the five years. I think it's worth saying that, you know, some of these
episodes may have lower sound quality than others. Obviously, we've sort of gotten better and better
at keeping the quality of sound
as higher and higher as the years
have gone on and we've learned more
but, you know, earlier episodes
might not have had the best. If not on our end
then perhaps sometimes on our guests' end, but
again, nothing too
distracting. So for the entire
month of April, every other day
we will release a best of
and then when May comes around, we'll just jump
right back in to our normal pattern
of releasing brand new episodes,
brand new interviews, all of that stuff.
I'm going to try to work on some mini
episode monologue-style episodes to sprinkle in our catalog going forward, see what success we have
there. But overall, I just wanted to, you know, spend this time to say, thank you to everybody
that has supported the show in any capacity over the last five years. We deeply appreciate it.
And thank you to all the guests. It was incredibly hard to pick just 15 or so episodes out of
hundreds to pick as our best ever. And there will be plenty of people who disagree.
with certain ones that I've chosen, very hard to take some episodes off just to get to that
15 number episodes that I wanted to share, and maybe we'll do another best of down the line
a little bit and be able to include some of those that we miss this time. I also tried to
go further back in the catalog, so lots of episodes that we've recorded perhaps in the last year
or so are certainly worthy of being in that upper echelon of best ever episodes, but because
they were so new, so recent, we figured most listeners who are listeners right now would have
probably have heard those relatively recently, so we didn't want to necessarily re-upload those
so quickly. So a lot of the episodes are kind of from further back, you know, before 2021, at
least. And again, they focus on the core content of what made Rev. Left, Rev. Left, which is
our socialist and communist politics. So we really hope everybody enjoys this, this sort of
looking back over five years, pulling out some of our best episodes.
Just know that if an episode that you liked or if you were a previous guest and you were on and it did not make this list, it is nothing to do with whether or not that was a good episode or whether or not we loved it.
We had some certain confines we had to work in and so we pulled out some of the ones that we thought would be the best to put forward this time around.
But perhaps there'll be other opportunities in the future to go deeper.
And just in general, if you're a newer Rev Left listener and you've been listening to our new episodes but never found the time to go back through our back.
There's hundreds and hundreds of episodes there.
So these best of episodes will probably hint at that.
It'll be refreshed some people who might have listened to it when it first came out, but have since forgotten.
And for the newer listeners, make sure you don't miss these episodes.
And if you like some of these old best ofs, definitely go back and check out our catalog.
But thank you to all our listeners.
Thank you to all our supporters.
Thank you so much to every guest that we've ever had on Rev Left.
We deeply appreciate it.
And here's to five more years.
Thank you.
