Join us to hear from your favorite returning Survivor ...players! Mike Bloom sits down with returning contenders Jonathan Young and Kamilla Karthigesu for a preseason interview that gets right to the heart of strategy and self-perception. Mike leads the penultimate podcast of the season’s preview, inviting listeners into the mindset of two favorites from the new era as they prepare to face a star-studded cast and outplay their reputations. This episode centers on how Jonathan and Kamilla approach Survivor 50 after leaving bold marks on their original seasons. Jonathan, famous for carrying his tribe (and a ladder!), shares new plans to blend into the background, using advice from Boston Rob and Matt Van Wagenen to adapt his challenge beast persona but not stand out too much in a crowd of big threats. Kamilla dives into the mental whirlwind of coming back so soon after the Survivor 48 finale—she embraces new confidence, targeting puzzlers and strategists, and breaks down how her edit changed her perception among the cast. Both players explore the “Friend or Foe” game, revealing who they’d work with, who scares them, and how rivalries shape their social strategy before the season even starts. – Jonathan’s strategy: Hide behind bigger targets while quietly learning from Survivor legends – Kamilla’s shift: Trading her underestimated status for a reputation of honesty and puzzle prowess – How jury comments and Survivor 48’s edit put Kamilla in the spotlight—and why she wishes they’d hidden her game more – Preseason reads on castmates: Both share their early “Friend or Foe” calls and reveal surprising alliances and rivalries – Funny moments like Jonathan forgetting Emily’s name and Kamilla’s strong opinions about Kyle’s return Will Jonathan’s plan to fly under the radar work, or is he destined to stand out? Can Kamilla use her new confidence to outwit a cast who now sees her as a threat? Survivor 50’s preseason is full of shifting alliances and strong personalities. We make a lot of predictions on this podcast, and a lot of times my predictions are not so good.
but if yours are, Cal She is the largest prediction market in the United States and lets you do something unique, trade on whether things will or won't happen.
Forget against playing against the house like you would on a typical sports book.
Cali is about peer-to-peer trading.
Buy a yes contract when you think something is going to happen like will the Seahawks win this big game this year.
Will Kendrick Lamar win the album of the year?
Or by a no contract on things that you think won't happen.
Will Rob Sesternino ever win a reality show?
You're trading with other users similar to buying or selling a stock so you can jump in or out.
In short, CalShe is where you put your money where your prediction is.

Hi, everybody, and welcome back to another Survivor 50 preseason podcast.
My name is Mike Bloom.
It's the penultimate preseason podcast for Survivor 50.
And I've got quite the story to pen about the two contestants.
here my interviews with two standouts from the new era.
We are talking with Jonathan Young and Camilla Cartigaysu,
a man who was notable for carrying a ladder
and someone who might need a ladder
to get something on the top shelf.
But hopefully these interviews have been top shelf for you all.
If you missed out on any of them,
you know how to check them out.
Hopefully you do.
If you don't, just a quick reminder.
We know Survivor.com for all of our Survivor.
Survivor Podcast and Rob has a website.com slash YouTube for the video versions.
Let's not delay any further and dive right in to my first interview.
And it's of a man who had quite unnotable dive in season 42 in one of his
myriad unbelievable challenge performances.
Jonathan Young, I feel like even in the early stages of the new era of Survivor 42,
Jonathan kind of seemed like a man out of time.
This was somebody who is probably most renowned
for being this fantastic individual challenge performer,
often serving as the crux of his tribe's winning streak in the pre-merge,
stringing together a couple of very impressive performances on his own end in the post-merge,
also being a natural provider back at camp.
He has a beach service provider in real life,
and so it carried over quite literally,
into the game.
The question is, how much is Jonathan going to build upon that reputation
versus perhaps steering into a bit more of the strategic social varieties of the game?
Well, if he's looking to do the latter, he has someone he has become friendly with
over the past few years who may know a thing or two about that.
Some quick facts on Jonathan Young.
He is currently 32 years young, originally from Godston, Alabama, currently lives in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and perhaps as the city indicates, he is a beach service owner.
Let's get into it, shall we?
Without further ado, here's my interview with Mr. Jonathan Young.
All right, Mr. Young.
Good to see you, my friend.
Likewise, likewise.
How are you doing right now?
I'm doing great.
I'm a little exhausted.
said it's been a long couple of days because a lot of press wanted to cover season 50.
So we're out here at 3.45 in the morning.
Mm-hmm.
Getting it done.
Listen, you're a lifestyle that's, you know, up with the sun, down with the sun, right?
I am.
I'm that kind of guy, but the problem is, normally I'm moving.
Mm-hmm.
We're not moving a lot in those tents.
That's very true.
We've got all these giant personalities in a little confined space and we can't talk.
Well, let's talk about all the moving and grooving you've been doing since 42.
Mm-hmm.
You still got the beach company?
going on what's been going on in your life? I sold my beach service. I started a new beach service.
We rent jet skis and we delivered it to people's houses. We pick it up at the end of the day.
Interesting.
Love it. Oh, nice. I started a non-profit and it's called Young Strength Missions. We go down to
Nicaragua. We're going to go down to Honduras this year to build houses for the homeless.
Wow. So it's been a blessing. And I couldn't have done it without Survivor.
Interesting. Young Strength Missions was born through Survivor. Interesting. Well, I also know
If anyone follows you on social media, you become a bit of an acquaintance of, you know,
a fellow Florida resident in Survivor in Boston Rob.
Mr. Rob.
So did he give you any sort of sage wisdom?
Because he knows his way around a returning player season or two, right?
Or three or four.
Just a few, yeah, just a handful.
So Mr. Rob wrote me a letter before I came out here, and he said,
I opened it on the plane.
So I opened it, and he gave me three things of advice.
Number one is to smile
Number two
Is to look through the game
Look at the game through the opponent's eyes
Try to see through their lens
Number three is you can control
Which you can control
Don't worry about the rest
If there's a tribe swap you can't control that
There's no use putting effort
Into something you can't control
You know who else gave me a really good bit of advice
Was Matt Van Wagnin
Mr. Matt.
He said, I asked him the first go-around.
I said, what's a little bit of advice
that you would give somebody like me to make it to the end?
He said, don't get comfortable.
And I never got comfortable.
So I think that's one of the reasons I made it as far as I did.
Well, let's talk about things you were comfortable doing in the game.
And I think the way a lot of people perceive you, you know,
is the fact that you are an asset in challenges to say the Lee is literally carrying your tribe through
and you are a provider.
Yes, sir.
So coming in with that perception, is that something you want to steer into again?
Or is that something you're trying to curb considering that those types of things could label you as a threat as well?
The thing is in this season in particular, there's so many big threats.
I believe I can hide behind them.
I haven't been on On Fire podcast with Jeff Probst.
I haven't won a million dollars.
I've got nobody from my season here working with me.
Yeah.
All of these things are, it's ammunition.
It's for the target.
There's so many big targets out here.
You got Ozzy who's played, what, four times?
You have D, who's won a million dollars.
I'm going to enter the game the same way that I did the last time,
which is they see me as a provider,
they see me as a challenge beast,
but that's all I want them to see me as.
Meanwhile, I've been sitting at the feet of a legend for three years
learning from Mr. Rob himself.
So you are, as you mentioned,
the only person from seasons 41 through 44 represented
here. And while the new era might be perceived as like, you know, all the new cast get along
with each other and go to all these events together, do you feel, for lack of a better term,
out in an island, compared to all the people from 45 onwards out here?
I feel like I'm a free agent because of what you just said.
Only player from season 41 to 44.
Right.
I don't think that New School is as close as everybody thinks.
Interesting.
I think it's a facade a little bit.
I really do.
I think that they go to the parties, they shake hands,
but there's a little bit of still playing Survivor,
even when the game's over.
Old school is more bare bones.
It's what it is, you know,
it's straight and narrow like Colby.
He's like Captain America.
He's straight and narrow Colby.
I think that's the type of player I want to play with.
People like Colby, but in the new school, Joe,
all these people that have always been reliable.
A lot of the new school players aren't as reliable
as the old school players.
Something that you and I talked about after your finale was the fact that, look, you've made no secret, the diet that you usually participate in.
And you said that, you know, especially in the new era where it's very meager supplies, that your body was hurting by the end of it.
So in anticipation for your second time out, did you change anything like nutritionally to get your body more used to the experience?
The first time I came out here, I was doubling down, eating two meals for every one.
But now I switched it up.
I'm eating less.
And I'm going to gradually eat a little less.
coming to the game. Because like if you have four cups of coffee and you're a caffeine addict,
what's the best way to do it? You wean off of it. Right. So I'm trying to do the similar thing with food.
It's going to be a hard process regardless. Yeah. But if the fans voted for rice, it'd be...
That's the thing. You're like, you're like, all right, oh, hey, did anybody vote for rice just to make sure, for my sake?
The downside to having rice is the provider in me goes, well, shoot, I'm not going to be as useful
without being able to fish for food. That's very true. Well, you mentioned,
some people out here. Let's
unpack this. I'm going to play a game with you, sir.
Yes, sir. This is a game called friend or foe.
Ooh, okay. We're going to go through the cast.
Okay. And for each person, you're going to tell me if it's a friend,
someone that you're looking to join up with,
or a foe, someone either you're not getting good vibes
from or someone you might feel could be a threat that you want to get rid of.
We can probably have a brief explanation if you want to.
Yeah, I have pretty good explanations for this.
Oh, yeah. Well, let's get into it. Let's start with Jenna.
I would like to work with Jenna. I think she's a friend.
She seems to be down to earth.
She was on the first season of Survivor ever.
Yeah.
I think she could be used.
You mentioned him before, but Colby, you want to expound on that?
I want to work with Colby just because he's a straight shooter as well.
These old school players, they have a way that is completely different of New School.
I think I can use that.
Knowing how New School kind of plays, I can use the old school to help me.
How about Stephanie?
Absolutely.
But Stephanie, I would love for her to be my number one.
Oh, okay.
After seeing Ms. Stephanie on other reality TV shows, it made me want to play with her even more.
What was it about her?
The way that she can't lie.
Stephanie can't lie well.
She's very, she says what she thinks all the time.
Yeah.
Part of the reason she's out here is because she's energetic.
She's outgoing.
But with that comes she can't lie.
It always comes out with Ms. Stephanie.
If something's on her mind, she's going to let you know.
Now maybe on the opposite side.
of that.
Surrey.
Ooh, foe.
Mm.
Friend for a minute,
foe at the end.
Miss Surrey is scary
because she's so good.
She could be on the Mount Rushmore of Survivor.
Mm.
Because of everything that she's done in the game
and around the game
with all these different reality shows,
winning one.
Yeah.
I really think Miss Surrey would be good at first,
but a foe at the end.
How about Ozzie?
Friend.
Hmm.
You didn't say any sort of like
only one of us.
can survive challenge beast.
I will tell you this.
I hope to God they put me up against Ozzie
and we can see who the real challenge beast is.
There we go.
You're looking at even just like one of those one B1
physical matchups.
Oh yeah, like swim a mile and get that buoy
and come on back.
I hope Jeff does that.
How about coach?
Friend.
You're going to call Mr. Coach out there?
No, I think I'm going to keep
the Mr. and Mrs.
out of the game besides for Mr. Jeff.
Okay.
Just because people will know.
notice and they'll think that it's a target for there that I'm working with these people or not
working with these people because I didn't call him mister or her miss right so it's going to put
a big target on everybody's back so I'm going to keep it simple call them by their name so what
do you think about coach of coach is a friend I think he is a little out there but I think
I'll be able to see it coming when the time is right I'll be able to cut him all right how about
Aubrey phone any reason why
Uh, we don't have the same energy.
Interesting.
And I don't have the same energy in the game.
And I don't think it will mix well.
What energy are you picking up from her right now?
I'm picking up that she is standoffish.
Okay.
And when you're standoffish in the game, it normally means something.
And it means that it's not good for you.
Hmm.
How about Chrissy?
Friend.
Hmm.
Even though she's a challenge beast, I think Miss Chrissy is.
a really good
player and a good person
to have on your side.
You can also be like fire making, am I right?
Yeah, that's right.
We can bond over that.
Yeah, how about Angelina?
Oh, that's a toss-up.
I don't know.
Okay, yeah, middle road here.
Yeah, Angelina, that's up in the air.
She's very bubbly and friendly.
I like that, but I don't know
how far it goes in the game
and if it is just gameplay.
She's a hard one.
How about Christian?
For some reason, I love Christian.
Okay.
I really love Christian.
Just his weird personality and how his expressions are all over the place.
I love that about him.
I'll be watching him, and he'll be, like, doing calculations in his head.
And I get a kick out of it.
I think he's a good guy, and I would play with Christian.
How about Mike White?
Just so I can get on White Lotus.
No, I would love him.
to work with Mr. Mike.
I'd say he's a friend.
What is it about him?
He doesn't have to prove anything being out here.
I think he's a multimillionaire that's done so well in life.
Yeah.
I think it translates into the game.
Everything out of the game comes into the game.
Yeah.
In some way, shape, or form.
And so we got a guy that's a multimillionaire that has a TV show.
Who doesn't need to be here?
He just loves the game.
Yeah.
And I love the game.
So that means, and I honestly don't need to be here, but I love the game.
Right.
We have that in common.
So.
I mean, on that note, someone who showed a lot of love for the game at the time, Rick Debbins.
No, he's scary.
Hmm.
I would work with him for a minute, but then cut himself.
He's very, he's sneaky, man.
How many idols did he find?
How many, honestly, like three or four in one season?
I just, and he was on fire with Jeff.
probes. I think there's so many
targets out here that I'm going to
look like a big old fly on the wall.
There's so many people out here.
Hopefully they don't have the swatter.
Yeah, right? Hopefully they don't have a giant horsefly swatter.
But I think I can point my finger at least half the people
here before they get to me. Well, let's talk
about maybe one of them, another on firehouse as we moving to the new era.
Give me your thoughts on D.
Foe.
You can't do everything that she did
and think that you don't have a target on your
back. If Dee wants to come and work with me, I'll work with her. I'll work with anybody
first. But at the end of the day, I think Dee is going to be dangerous because she won the
game. That means that she's very good. And she deserved to win. And then Mr. Jeff knew that she
deserved to win and put her on fire with Jeff Probst. And then she went to the challenge.
And now she's back here. What was that? A year, two years ago? Yeah. Maybe. So she's moving
real quick through all this stuff
and she's putting her thoughts out there
when you get on a podcast
and every episode you spill what you think
then you become a threat
give me your thoughts on Emily
well I've been a hard time
yeah give him talk to me about with the paws
let's go through your head right now
which one is Emily
the um turtle neck
long blonde hair from 45
I'm drawing a blank dude
Emily
Turtleneck
The one who's been sitting around
In the turtleneck
I don't remember
Dude
You haven't seen her around
From 45 from D's season
The one who played with Caleb
And had that big growth arc
And got voted out with one vote
Either you're the best liar
In the world right now
Are you have no memory
But Emily
I'm blown away
Maybe it's because I'm so tired
Yeah
Yeah
What color hair does she have?
Blonde.
She has like blonde, curlier hair.
Oh.
You got her?
I know who it is.
Okay, perfect.
Flipping?
Yes.
I think of her as flipping, dude.
My bad.
You call her by her last name?
I love her last name.
Yeah.
She's so quirky.
I would work with her.
Yeah?
Yeah, I think that she's...
I won't let her know that you pause for a good two minutes.
Oh, my gosh, dude.
I don't know how that slipped my mind.
I've been smiling at her for three days.
I would work with Emily for sure.
She's, she's, uh, she's good vibes.
I think that she speaks her mind too and she can't really help it.
Yeah.
And that's great for me.
Because number one, if I have people like that around me, her, Miss Stephanie.
Yeah.
Then it takes a target off me because I don't always say what I'm thinking.
Mm-hmm.
But some people have to.
Yeah.
And those two have to.
Let's get into Survivor 46.
Give me your thoughts on Charlie.
Uh, foe.
Mm-hmm.
I'm not a Swifty, Charlie.
I'm sorry.
I don't know much about Taylor Swift.
Same kind of thing with Aubrey.
Is it Audrey or Aubrey?
With Aubrey.
It's the same kind of thing with Aubrey.
How about Hugh?
Hugh is a toss-up, but because of how he played.
He played a game where he was so up and down.
He even asked once to vote me off.
Right.
What am I supposed to do with that if that happens to me?
I'd vote him off.
Yeah.
I think for a minute, Q's going to be good.
Mm-hmm.
But after a while, I have to cut him.
At first, work with Q, maybe after Merge,
right after Merge, cut him.
How about Tiffany?
Mm.
Rimm.
What's with the pause?
You know, I have a hard time with all New School.
Interesting.
I don't mesh as well with New School as I don't.
do old school. After talking to Miss Stephanie outside of the game when we're doing these little
get-togethers to raise money for whatever we want to raise money for. Right. It's called Over the Edge.
We go to this. Oh, yeah, yeah. I remember looking at social on this, yeah. And I've seen her twice.
And I just, I feel more connected to old school players. Interesting. Yeah. All right, let's move on to 47.
Genevieve.
Genevieve is scary because she's very smart.
She played a great game.
And if she made it to the end,
she would have won a million dollars.
I think that everybody knows that.
The only thing with Genevieve is I think she's got a good heart.
And if she wants to work with me, again, I'll work with anybody.
But I can't let her get too far in the game because she's almost too lovable.
Let's move on to 48 here.
You mentioned him before.
Give me your thoughts on Joe, though.
I think Joe's a friend.
Because of how he played, he was very loyal.
He's a man of his word.
He stuck to it.
He made it to the final three.
Joe's somebody that I could play with all the way to the end.
How about Camilla?
Camilla's a foe.
She's very sneaky.
She got the final four just by,
her and Kyle's relationship.
You're probably going to mention Kyle next.
Oh, of course.
Kyle is definitely a foe.
They are very, very good at this game.
And if you're too good, then you need to get out early.
It's a returning season, right?
Everybody's returning.
So why keep the millionaires around?
There's many, many things I could say to get people to understand how important it is.
to kick the winners off.
You want them to win another million dollars?
It's true, yeah.
We haven't won any money,
but they won a million dollars.
Yeah.
So why are we keeping them,
why are we keeping them around?
Well, let's talk about some more unknown factors here.
What are your thoughts about these 249ers?
The devil you know is better than the devil you don't.
Okay.
Both of them are foes.
I have no idea about them.
They could have won,
one of them.
And I think that's very,
nerve-wracking to everybody around.
These two people show up that have never been seen before,
but they're good enough to be on season 50.
We know everything else about everybody else,
at least somewhat.
We know nothing about these people.
So sometimes when people return,
they tend to take tenants or things
from the person who won their season
to bring into their own game.
Did you take anything away from Marianne's game
that you're trying to incorporate into your own?
Mary Ann, she played a very out of sight, out of mind game.
She wasn't seen a lot.
She didn't come out until she wanted to make a move.
So if I'm able, I'm going to stay out of sight out of mind.
But being 6'4, that's going to be hard.
It's hard to play a game like anybody else.
Even Mr. Rob, I've thought about it for years now.
I can't play Rob's game.
Yeah.
I can't play Mike's game.
game. I can't play Mary Ann's game, but what I can do is take a bit from each until eventually
I have a game that works for me. Who is one person from a previous season that you wish was out here
for Survivor 50? Oh, my main man, Mike. There we go. I wish Mike was out here. He deserved it.
I think Mike would have been a great accomplice through all this. Yeah, and you would have been able to
get revenge on that firemaking. That's right. I would put me and him in firemaking if it's around.
Yeah, it's around, that's the thing.
All right, last thing I usually ask in these interviews,
if you could bring a celebrity or a fictional character out to the island as a loved one,
who would it be?
Now, when we did this last time, you said Lauren Daigle,
do you want to double down on that,
or do you want to take another bite of the apple and pick another one?
I want to pick another one.
All right.
A fictional character?
Or a celebrity?
Basically, anyone who's just not a friend or family?
Iron man.
Iron man.
Now, is it like Tony Stark or is it like, he has to be in the suit at all times?
Has to be in the suit at all times.
his little face mask can lift up, but that's it.
I want to see Iron Man.
I just want to give you advice as to, I don't know.
Yeah, he's one of the smartest people in the world.
Exactly.
Jerry Rigsom sort of like, says, like, you've been lifted a lot of logs.
Have you thought about this police system up there?
Maybe Batman. Iron Man or Batman.
They're both pretty great.
I mean, either way, it'd be fun to see him sweat on the beach doing those in those costumes.
Oh, my God.
Well, this was a super heroic conversation.
Sir, always great getting the chance to chat with you.
I know it's been a lot of hurry up and waiting, but I have been waiting to
for the chance to chat.
And it's been, it's been awesome, man.
It's an honor.
Welcome out here.
Thank you, bro.
It seems like you've got a really great headspace for where, how you're approaching things,
given your own perception, giving your perceptions of everybody else.
And I'm just, I know, I cannot imagine how excited you are.
Oh, I'm very excited.
I've been waiting for four years, dude.
Yeah.
And I'm ready.
I think it'd only be appropriate that Survivor's equivalent of like a Thor
Submariner mashup would pick Iron Man as his celebrity loved one.
what perhaps represents the more cerebral take he wants to have on this game.
I mean, listen, we saw the BR rules work out to a certain extent for somebody like
Philip Shepard back in Karamoid.
And I do think that Jonathan has a level head as to he could get all the advice in the
world, but at the end of the day, he has to play within his own self.
And it seems like there's going to be at least some people that will be vibing with that
sense of self as well. When we come back, we'll be talking about somebody who discovered her own
new sense of self very recently on Survivor 48. My interview with Camilla coming up after this.

Forget against playing against the house like you would on a typical sports book.
Cal she is about peer-to-peer trading.
Buy a yes contract when you think something is going to happen.
Like, will the Seahawks win this big game this year?
Will Kendrick Lamar win the album of the year?
Or buy a no contract on things that you think won't happen.
Like, will Rob Sesternino ever win a reality show?
You're trading with other users similar to buying or selling the stocks

Camilla Cartagetesu made a killing on Survivor 48 by being unsuspecting.
Of course, probably the primary narrative of not only her game but the entire season was
this relationship that she had
with Kyle that seemingly was
incredibly under the radar,
while especially this strong majority
alliance dominated the
end game. But Camilla
was able to prove her own strength
as well, considering she won
a couple of immunity challenges, including
a very impressive comeback
in the finale. She was able
to showcase a lot of personal
growth, and we saw
at the after show,
the jury pretty much declared that
had Camilla made it to the final three,
she would have won the game.
The bad news is,
assumingly,
all of the Survivor 50 cast
also saw the jury make that statement.
So as we've been talking about with Joe,
with Kyle,
it's been only a couple of weeks
since the Survivor 48 finale aired
when Survivor 50 began.
So she is very fresh on the mind
of a lot of people.
And for what
worth Camilla's relationships with the other two members of 48 are complicated to say the least,
both her specific one-on-one relationship with them as well as the way that they are perceived.
But regardless, it is tough to shake the stars from her eyes, quite literally, as she is surrounded
by some living legends from her perspective, including her favorite player.
Some quick details on Camilla, if you don't know already.
31 years old, originally from Canada, Toronto to be specific.
Currently lives in Foster City, California, and she is a software engineer.
We get into the U.S. and UI of her approach to her second stint on Survivor, and hopefully
you're going to enjoy it. Without further ado, here's my interview with Camilla.
I'm going to imagine your mental state right now would be a whirlwind to say.
the least. Oh yeah. Considering that, I mean, you and I spoke a couple weeks ago. Yeah. You were
watching your own season play out as I, assumingly, you were in the talks to come back out here.
Oh, yeah. Again, what has sort of been the adventure for you of the past three or four months?
It's been crazy, getting the call for 50. I don't even remember that call fully. All I remember
was being asked, what are you doing this summer? And I said, I'm free, I'm free, a thousand percent
free? They're like, are you, are you sure? Do you need to check your calendar? I'm free. I'm free.
Yes, yes, yes. I didn't check my calendar. I'm pretty sure I'm missing stuff right now.
I had to like turn down things and say that I was going somewhere for the summer.
You're like, I just was on a reality show. I'm taking a break for myself. Yeah. Yeah, I took a sabbatical.
I'm like, I need like mental health sort of break. You know, watching the whole season air and come to
an end. I'm like, I need some time off work.
Mm-hmm. Time off work here.
This is your new work. Yes.
Well, yeah. From that.
perspective, like, what is your headspace in terms of how you're approaching the second season?
Because you got to watch, granted it's an edited product. You got to see people both on the island
and online talk about your game. Yeah. How much are you sort of digesting that with the Camilla,
the new new Camilla, I guess, that you're bringing to the island too. Yeah. I guess the,
now it's really the new Camilla is that I don't care what the people online said. Like,
some people were like, oh yeah, she's just Kyle's goat or whatever. I'm like, you just didn't see the vision.
You just didn't see what I was capable of.
But like nothing will take away from how I felt the morning after waking up from 48.
I feel great about all of that.
And so I think there is an interesting dynamic, I assume, with some of the players here, where I feel like some people that are on 50 are here and they feel like they have to prove something to prove why they deserve to be here.
And then there are other people who are here that are like, they have this reputation to maintain and they don't want to tarnish that reputation.
and I'm here and I'm like, none of those affects me.
I don't care.
I'm confident in how I played 48.
So now I'm like, realizing that sort of frees me to play how I want to play.
I'm not playing for other people's perception.
Yeah, I mean, that's the thing is that there's been, there was so much discourse this season about,
oh man, and with no disrespect to your cast members, but like I very much, like,
I wish Camilla got a chance to play on a different season with the good people, you know,
manifesting it perhaps the wish came true.
So how are you approaching that from that perspective?
You know, did you learn something from that'll be a more stringent sort of structure
than now you're bringing into what is seemingly going to be a much more fluid game,
the one you want to play to begin with?
Yeah.
I think if I did not play 48 first and if I jumped into a season like 47,
I would have outplayed myself out of the game.
Interesting.
Okay.
The only reason I really was able to stay along in 48 was that Kyle was the patient one
between the two of us.
I was always itching to make a move.
And Kyle was really good about the timing.
Yeah.
And so now that I've learned from him and got a better feel for timing,
I think I'll be more patient this time.
Hopefully not play myself out of the game and watch other people.
Hopefully they didn't learn their lessons.
People like Genevieve and stuff didn't learn their lessons,
and they played themselves out of the game for me.
So hopefully that helps this time.
Let's talk about perception here,
because I would imagine that some of these people were watching 48 very closely,
knowing they were coming back out.
And the last thing they saw was an after show where they said,
oh, Camilla, what a one in a sweep if she made it to the end.
So what do you think your perception is coming in?
Are you going to try to report that, against that?
Yeah, I hate that they erred that.
I hate that they erred me in such a good light.
I wish they just showed me as a goat who didn't do anything.
But no, I actually don't wish that.
That's wrong.
That would be a lot worse for me.
It is scary.
People just saw me and Kyle
straight up lie to the majority of our cast
and get away with it.
And despite what people say in their exit interviews,
people did not know me and Kyle are working that closely.
Set the record straight.
Yes. I'm just going to say,
I got texts from people after certain episodes in 48
saying, damn, I didn't know you two were working that closely together.
And then go in their exit interview and say,
oh yeah, I knew they were working together the whole time.
I'm like, okay, guys, I have them.
the text. But yeah, there is that. But I want to spin it as a, oh my God, I was so loyal to
Kyle. I was so loyal and so honest to him that I told him we couldn't sit next to each other
in Final Three. I didn't even try to guilt him into taking me there and hopefully, you know,
sell myself as the actual honesty and integrity player of the season. The irony. It's the die and
live a hero or live long enough to see herself become the villain.
So when it comes to the idea of being underestimated, this was something you wielded like a cudgel.
Yes.
This is something you and I even talked about before the season.
You were able to use it incredibly effectively.
To be kind of, do you think you can do that again?
I don't think I can pull it off again, which is so frustrating because I didn't play 48 expecting to manage this perception of me for a returny season.
I thought I was just going to play 48 and that was it.
And I'd get one chance to play Survivor and that was it.
And so I wanted to use everything I could, which was the old little old me.
can't do anything. Please help me. Oh, look at me now. I'm like this strong person.
That's all gone. That was all I, that was the only thing I wanted to do in this game and use
that and like take advantage of how people felt. Yeah. About me towards that. And now I can't,
I feel like I can't repeat it again because I've gone everywhere. I'm like, I'm new Kamala. I'm
so confident. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I don't, I don't think people will buy it a second
time. From a prep perspective, I mean, you and I certainly talked about, you know, you're working on
that physical acumen and you were able to showcase some incredible come from behind skills
when it comes to puzzles. Was there anything different considering especially the short turnaround time
of how you prepared for your first season versus your second? I spent a lot more time making
fire. You like, like, all right, put a gale force wind right in front of the fire. Let's let the
worst case scenario happen. Seriously, the night before flying out here, it was 11 p.m. I was already
in bed and my husband woke me up and he's like, you're going to make fire one last time.
Oh, I love that.
And so I did it.
I feel confident now.
I spent a decent more time in the gym, more focused on legs in my core because that was a problem.
Like, I couldn't jump as high as other people, and that's a lot of legs.
And I spent a lot of time the first time around working on things that weren't important, like benching, which I just like seeing the number go up, but it's not really helpful for Survivor.
Could have helped in your conversations with the majority, though.
Like, look what I bench.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, there was a conversation where I'm like, guys.
I can bench like 85 and they're like, hey, that's pretty good for someone your size.
I'm like, yeah.
Now I can bench 100.
Well, let's start benching the competition.
Let's see.
Let's start talking about the weight that's around you here.
We're going to play a game called friend or foe.
Okay.
I'm going to go through the cast.
Oh, fuck.
And you, that's going to be a third category.
And you tell me if they're right now, friend, someone you want to work with,
foe, either someone that's like, you're not fiving with or someone like, you're, you know, assessing as a threat.
And we can get into explanations.
and we can certainly get into some of those pre-existing relationships.
Yes.
But let's start from the beginning here.
Okay.
Jenna.
Friend.
Okay.
Yeah, I don't, I mean, I remember from All-Star, she was like, let's get rid of the winner.
So I'm like, hey, Jenna, I'm down to get rid of the winners.
She wants to do that again.
Let's run it back.
How about Colby?
Front.
What was that laugh about?
Okay, I think, here's a thing.
And it's the same thing I wanted to do in 48.
I wanted to get into an alliance with someone who is like, no one would expect,
or suspect that we were working together.
Exactly.
And I don't think me and Colby,
I don't think there's anyone who's like my polar opposite.
I think it's Colby.
I think he's the complete opposite of me.
He hasn't even like made eye contact with me this entire time.
So I'm like, people would never suspect that we would work together
because I don't think we have a single thing in common
other than we need food and water to survive.
What about Stephanie?
Friend.
Okay.
I loved watching her growing up, Heroes vs. Villains.
Kevin wanted to be her so badly.
I was going to say, you'd be like,
I also saw someone dislocate their shoulder.
Yeah, but she bounced back from that fast.
Like, she is strong.
Even to this date, like Heroes v. Villains was so long ago,
she still looks amazing.
Mm-hmm.
Super physical, and I'd like to work with her.
How about Sarat?
Foe.
Mm, okay.
Yeah.
She's scary.
She's so good at this game and so good at, like,
all the other games out there.
Also, she's had enough time on Survivor.
Enough, like, she's, she's, she's, she's beyond Survivor now.
She's, she's been on the Trader.
She's been on Big Brother, Survivors Australia, Survivor Australia.
Why is she here?
Again, she's been here enough.
She can go.
Ozzie.
Friend.
Okay.
Because I think he's also, like, very different from me.
And that's sort of something, some, the type of person I want to align with is, once again,
someone who, you know, I could be in a secret a lot.
with and no one would actually suspect.
Could that be coach?
Coach is like
Bestie number one
million. Coach is my favorite player.
Coach is my favorite player of all time.
What? I didn't know this.
Yes. Coach is my favorite player of all time.
I was
fan girling when I saw him here.
He looks so badass in person.
He just oozes this
coolness, this confidence about him.
I love it.
I want to wake
up every morning on the beach with coach and we're going to do whatever the fuck he wants in
front of the sun and harness whatever energy he's doing. I want to do that with him every
single morning. All right. How about Aubrey?
Friend. Okay. Friend. Even though I think like we are more similar in the, you know,
brainy whatever type of things. Um, she, I don't know. I mean, it's, I feel like she's someone
who initially friend and then come merge foe very.
very fast. And also, I need her as a friend because there is someone that you might ask about,
you will ask about later on, who definitely has her as foe. And I have that person as foe. And so
I need to align with her so we can get that person out of there. Exactly. Like the enemy of my
enemy. Yes. How about Chrissy? Friend. I have too, I've got too many people as friends.
I mean, you're taking some interesting pauses here, though. So talk me about your thought process.
Okay. I need to separate friend.
foe in the game versus did I like watching the monster?
I mean, that's going to be a certain thing, though.
It's like you're going to experience very quickly, like, is it a what you see is what you get?
Or is it more so a like, oh, wow, the internet certainly painted you in a way that I didn't expect.
Yeah.
I think that's a problem is that with almost everyone out here, I like rooted for them hard when I was watching their season.
And so it's hard to shift my mind and be like, you're playing against this person.
You can't be rooting for them.
Very understandable.
And so, like, I was rooting for Chrissy real hard, but also she's very smart.
She's good at challenges.
So honestly, you know what?
I'm going back on that, and I'm going with Fo.
Okay.
Yeah.
There we go.
Let's get to our David versus Glythe group, Angelina.
Friend.
Okay.
I think she's very entertaining.
And from what I remember, okay, I feel like the people now, when they talk about David
versus Goliath, everyone loves Angelina.
And I remember being a little irritated watching her.
Oh, people, yeah.
People did not like her at the time. Yeah, at the time, yeah.
There were so many Heroes vs. Villains 2 cast for season 40 that had her on the villains' tribe.
Okay, exactly, yeah. And so I think she'd be someone good to keep around because she would irritate other people.
Hmm, okay, how about Christian?
Foe.
Okay, fell brain.
Yes, we can't have too many, too many brainy people, and I also want to get rid of, I want to pull a David and get rid of all the filthy puzzlers from the season because I only want one puzzler in the end.
I also don't want competition in the team, like the tribe challenges, because that's stressful.
I liked that last puzzle I did where there was no competition, so I want to get rid of all the puzzlers.
We're going to make every challenge a final five challenge.
Yes, yes.
How about Mike White?
Fall.
Because this, I can't read him during pregame.
Every time he walks into a room, he looks lost.
He looks confused.
It's a while since he's been out here, to be fair.
But, I mean, it's not even out on the island.
It's just everywhere you see me.
looks confused. I don't know what it is about him. I can't read him. So I'm going to go with
Fault. Also, he was very close to winning his season. Some people say he should win and, you know,
there's discourse about that online. Um, so no, I feel like he's someone who if they make,
if he makes the merge, he can very much run away with the game. So Fault. How about Rick Devons?
Gutt says no. Fuck. Fuck. That's the third category.
I think he's, he's someone who I really deeply want to be friends with.
with. Okay. But for my own, like, gameplay, he should be foe. That man survived everything on the
edge of extinction. Right. Just kept coming back, kept winning immunities, kept finding idols. That's very
scary. And I feel like in a season like this, I mean, we don't know if there's going to be
idols and advantage is hidden around. And if there are, he's going to get them all so full.
All right. Let's move into your beloved new era. Yes.
Let's talk about Jonathan. Is this another unlikely ally you were mentioning before?
Friend to start with, foe once I don't need him anymore.
Okay.
Yeah, so friend to throw me through the water in Tribe Challenges.
And then foe afterwards, because I also don't think we have much in common.
Other than, I like benching now too. He looks like he likes benching.
Jonathan, 85? That's a good number.
All right, how about D?
Um, friend.
Okay.
Friend because she also played a very honest and loyal game.
Mm-hmm.
She was like the C-B-4 was intended to be like the Reeba 4.
Mm-hmm.
Someone got scared a little too early and flipped everything on its head.
And so I think she played the game that I didn't want to play but was very safe.
Mm-hmm.
And so it would be interesting to see if she was.
wants to do that again, I'd be down.
All right. How about Emily?
This one's hard.
Mm. Yeah, it seems like you're going through a lot right now.
Yeah. Because I'm like, friend, because I remember her being a little like rough in the beginning,
but she did have that, that growth arc. Yeah. Yeah. So if she's learned from that.
Which is something that you very much connect with. Yeah. I mean, I've, I've talked to her outside
of the game and she seems fine. She wasn't off putting at all. So maybe that doesn't work.
Because I was like, oh, friend keep her around if she's off putting. She'll bother
other people. I don't think that's going to work. I don't remember if Emily was good at puzzles or not.
Maybe this is my very much conscious bias and I'm like, if you're nerdy, you're probably good at puzzles.
I'll go with foe. Okay. All right. Let's get to season 46, Charlie.
Friend. Mm-hmm. Okay. I've seen a lot of the, I'm sorry to bring this up. I've seen a lot of
the comments after our 48 final tribal council where, you know, I was helping kind of,
out and I saw all the online discourse about this is what Charlie wishes he had.
Mm-hmm.
Charlie deserved this.
And I'll be like, Charlie, I'm here for you.
I'll be here for you.
Maybe it can play up to that.
I don't know if he's, I assume he's over it, but I feel like some people say that they're over things that happen on Survivor.
And when I meet them in person, they're still clearly not over it.
Yeah, exactly.
So maybe, maybe I can take advantage of this.
All right, let's get into who I assume you had pegged as Aubrey's possible foe and yours as well, Q.
Yes. Q, Q, I've told people this Q is my favorite survivor player of the new era, but that just means I enjoy watching him on TV. I don't want to be on the same beach as him. I don't want to play with someone who's going to like say one thing to me and then four hours later say vote me out of the game. Like that unpredictable. I don't like it. Also, he was the person who was like, if you like Aubrey, you got to go. Aubrey's smart. He's here.
With Aubrey, which is hilarious.
I can't wait to see them to interact.
I think that'll be hilarious.
I can't wait to see Q interact with so many people.
With Aubrey, with coach, you know, goes on.
But also, the unpredictability is why he's...
Well, let's talk about something that he interacted with quite a lot.
Tiffany.
Tiff.
Tiff is friend.
Okay.
Yes.
And part of it was like, yeah, I was rooting for Tiff.
But I also liked how she was there for Kenzie at Final Travel Council.
There we go.
I respect someone who can, like, not be bitter and be there for their number one.
and if we're number ones, I hope she'd do that to me too.
Fellow Canadian Genevieve, what are your thoughts?
Foe.
Whoa.
Okay.
There's only room for one Canadian.
I mean, Survivor casting has shown that as a play.
Yes.
Yeah, they can't have too many of us.
Also, she's scary because 47 had all the like flips and whatnot.
I didn't, I don't want to play against that.
I want to be the person doing it and getting away with it.
Yeah.
I that's hard to play with.
She also seemed like she was a very good liar.
Mm-hmm.
Because she was able to do all of this and pull off all these blind sides.
So that's a little scary as well.
And I'm pretty sure she like demolished one of the puzzles on 47 as well.
Maybe it was like the, I don't know if I'm misremembering, but I feel like she killed a puzzle too.
And so I'm like, puzzlers get out.
All right.
Let's get into some very complicated relationships.
Joe, what are your thoughts about him coming in here?
This one is, this one's tricky.
Okay.
So this is what, when I was like, when I did my exit interview, I'm like, I didn't say everything.
Yeah, I was going to say.
Me and Joe worked very closely on 48.
Oh, okay.
Joe was one of the people who told me that David and Mary were throwing my name out there,
the day of the Chrissy vote.
Like, he came up to me and he's like, those two want to get rid of you.
I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure you're still around.
Wow.
None of that was shown, which is perfect for me.
Yeah.
Um, like me and Joe worked actually very closely converge.
Um, and so I'm hoping Joe doesn't hold it against me that I lied to him multiple times in 48 and that maybe we can work together this.
Okay.
Kyle.
I'm mad that he's here.
Hmm.
If Jeff had told me, Camilla, do you want to do 50?
By the way, Kyle's here.
My answer would be fucking flies.
Oh my God.
That wouldn't be my answer.
Welcome back.
Welcome back.
That would be my answer.
My answer would be no.
I don't want to be here if Kyle's here
because that would put a massive target
on both of our backs.
Right.
I don't like the fact that he's here.
I feel like he's just going to be
like this anchor tied around my ankle
that like and people are just going to see both of us
as a target as long as both of us are in the game
and it's just going to be harder to play with him around.
Would you, if given the chance,
vote him out to try to loosen that shackle?
If people keep bringing it up
and if it's clearly a thing that people are thinking about,
I'm going to have to, sorry, Kyle, get rid of him.
What are your thoughts on the 49ers?
Are you picking up anything from them right now?
Really, they must have fucking stopping.
You got to get used to it.
You're back again.
So you're at Bula Beach all over again.
Fuck, yeah.
Also, I know why they had flies everywhere.
It's because stupid Kevin would put, like, coconut shit in his hair.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I didn't do that, and they're all over me.
But the 49ers, yes.
I think they both did very well.
Okay.
I think we have a winner here.
And I think I just, I'm pretty sure both of them are people that are going to be full.
Okay.
Yeah.
Who is one previous survivor you wish was out here?
Davy from David versus Goliath.
Mm.
He was my day one pick.
I loved watching him.
And I thought, like, once I got the call and I thought, who would I want to play with?
Davey was the first person that came to mind.
Amazing.
Last thing you know, I'm going to ask.
Now, when we did this celebrity loved one question last time, you said Brimstone from Valorant.
Are you going to double down on that or do you have another pick?
Can I pick Coach?
I mean, if so, it's going to be very like, Coach, step over to the other side of line.
Okay, you know what?
Since Coach is already here, I'm going to my second favorite survivor player of all time, Philip Shepard.
Bring the specialist out, baby.
I feel like if him and coach were on the same season, it would be like an atomic explosion.
Yes, yes.
It'd be our Oppenheimer.
Yes, yes.
Okay, my real answer for the last question was Davey, but imagine if Philip were out here.
Oh, my God.
It would be.
We just end Survivor after that.
That's it.
That's the final season.
There's no more.
Oh, man.
Well, I'm glad we didn't keep it brief unlike Phillips underwear this time around.
You know, I say this with no disrespect to either Joe or Kyle, but I really do think Camilla's coming in.
with the most unique perspective of the three.
Now maybe it's partially because the two of them made it to the final three
and feel like, especially given Kyle's success from his strategies,
that there's not much that they need to change.
But I find a lot of Camilla's perspectives incredibly intriguing.
The idea that she could almost couch herself as the honesty and loyalty player
of the seeds and about how she worked with this guy
to the point where they eventually had to turn on each other
at the final four.
The fact that she had this other kind of underground relationship,
at least from an edit perspective,
with Joe.
And of course,
her very mixed reactions for Kyle being here,
not due to any sort of personal slight,
but just because, as she says,
it might be the weight around her ankle.
Or, as Rob would allege,
this could all be another lie that was spun to me,
much like some things that were very tactfully withheld
when I talked with Camilla only a couple of weeks beforehand.
Regardless, I cannot lie.
I love getting to talk with Camilla, as well as Jonathan,
as well as everyone in this cast.
And believe it or not, tomorrow, we close it all out.
My final two interviews of not only the Kalo tribe,
but Survivor 50 in general, Mike White and Tiffany Irvin.
So you know you don't want to miss out on those two.
We're all 100% completionists out here on these RHAP streets.
So please, we know survivor.com for our Survivor podcast feed
and Rob has a website.com slash YouTube for the video versions of all of these interviews.
Thank you all so much.
I will have a much longer gratitude-filled outro in tomorrow's podcast.
But as we start to really barrel down the end here,
the end of, I guess the beginning,
because the season hasn't even started yet,
I just cannot thank everybody enough for checking out all of these interviews.
It has meant the world to hear that you all have been loving what these players have been bringing,
either ones that have surprised you, further your expectations of them, or a combination of both.
I really did have the time of my life out there, and that time will come to a close tomorrow.
In my interviews with Mike White and Tiffany Irvin.
Thank you all, as always, so much for listening.
Until tomorrow, everybody, take care.
Bye-bye.
This episode is sponsored by Kalshi, the largest prediction market in the U.S.
Cali allows users to trade event contracts peer-to-peer rather than playing against a sports book available across the country, including California and Texas.

We make a lot of predictions on this podcast, and a lot of times my predictions are not so good.
But if yours are, CalShe is the largest prediction market in the United States and lets you do something unique,
trade on whether things will or won't happen.
Forget against playing against the house like you would on a typical sports book.
CalShe is about peer-to-peer trading.
Buy a yes contract when you think something is going to happen.
Like, will the Seahawks win this big game this year?
Will Kendrick Lamar win the album of the year?
Or buy a no contract on things that you think won't happen.
Like, will Rob Sesternino ever win a reality show?
You're trading with other users similar to buying or selling the stocks.
You can jump in or out.
In short, CalShe is where you put your money where your prediction is.
Here's how it works.
Users must deposit $10 to put $10 on a trade and then are rewarded $10.
Download the CalShe app and get $10 when you deposit with code SB60.
Use promo code SB60 when you sign up to get $10 when you trade $10.
