The smartest guys around
We're about to break it down
Like they're one
At all
Survivor, no way to
Wow
And excited to talk about it here with you
Fresh off of your trip around the world
Stephen Fishback
Just back from Australia
I thought I'm going to come in hot
Talk about three tribes, what a debacle
And holy count
Did the episode deliver today?
Like two
Two good tribal councils.
Like, honestly, like, the first one was good,
and the second one was so good.
I'll push back on that the first one was good.
There was some tension.
There was some questions.
There was some questions.
But, no, I really, I think that the second one really stole the show here tonight.
And I really want to just talk through everything from this wild tribal council with two extra votes,
which forces a tie and almost a rock draw,
where ultimately my winner pick goes home.
What a horrible that this is three weeks in a row.
I lost somebody from my draft team.
This was like a real, a real massacre.
That's what I get.
That's what I get for drafting all women, Stephen.
You were right.
You were right.
You said they're like, don't draft women, and I should have listened to you.
Don't drive.
That's my, that's been, you know.
P.S. though, his historical tribal council, I believe this is the most amount of times
that someone ever in trying to.
Council has had their name spelled incorrectly.
The most misspellings...
Tell Brandon Donnellan to get ready further.
We got to redo the worst, egregious misspellings podcast.
Seven separate misspellings of Linnea.
So there were eight Linnea votes.
Maybe it's six separate misspellings?
Because there's three L-E-N-A-Y-A.
One, two, three, four.
Yes, six separate misspellings of Linnea.
Zero correct spellings of Linnea.
So it really goes out in a historic...
moment for bad spelling. Yes, okay. And historic
night for the misspellings of Linnea. How are you doing after your trip?
I'm great. I'm a little jet lagged, but that's giving me a kind of like a manic
quality. Good, good. We need that tonight. Yeah. Yeah, very
killby-esque. I had the best time in Australia. I saw so many wonderful people. And you know,
let me just say that one of the nicest things about the survivor community and the RHAP community
is that I can go anywhere in the world now, especially in Australia,
and find someone who's like a fan of the show or been on the show.
I can hang out with him.
I saw Shannon Gus in Sydney.
I saw this Carleen Minnie, who's a fan of the show in Canberra,
and I saw a whole bunch of the former survivors, including Eden in Melbourne.
So it was lovely.
It was like everywhere I went.
I had like a local Australian to help me out.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, listen, maybe one day we do the live show.
in Australia.
Don't say that because you're going to get,
unless you're serious,
don't put that end of the world
because they really want you there.
Okay.
All right, well,
we can talk about that
another time.
Double exit interview coming up
on Thursday as well,
where I'll get the chance
to talk to Alexis and Linnea,
the latest two players voted out of the game.
A wild,
and I thought that this was going to be
the end of the pre-merge.
I kind of assume that
it does not look like
that we are going to have
the merge next week
based off of the preview.
but I was about to say, so far, six for six with women being voted out in the pre-merge,
I was not really expecting this year.
People are going to say, go back to the new era where the women thrived in the pre-merge.
Yeah.
Is that true?
Not typically.
But that they used to vote out some men in the pre-merge.
Yeah, you know what?
I actually do think that might be downstream of the 10 person to 6 to, from, you know,
the 6 person to 10 person.
Like typically those bigger tribes, like for whatever weird reason, like do prioritize strength, you know, over over just like pure alliance numbers.
It's been weird.
Like I don't want to necessarily like say that there's any one particular reason why that this has happened.
It's not even like I think it's worth exploration maybe in a different podcast.
But it's not like that we have had like a this guy's alliance, these bros that are just targeting all the women.
So there's probably like, it seems to me it's been a little bit more of just like haphazard that that has been the way that it has gone.
But we certainly can explore that more.
But Stephen, let's just start with the second tribal castle.
Do you know what it might be though?
You said there's no real reason.
I wonder if one of the reason is that they've cast more goofball guys.
Yeah.
So like you're looking at the guys here and you're like, that guy's not threatening.
Look at how goofy is.
They got like Carter out there
and being a goofball.
Honestly, that's the best theory that I've heard
is that it's, even in this episode,
it's like, okay, Maggie's like,
Linnea is a threat.
Go after, go after Linnea.
She's somebody, she's going to win
if we let her get to the end.
And that's been, you know,
Jenna, Alexis.
Anna.
Anna was like super strategist.
Like, no, and even like the most,
yeah, the most.
If we don't get Pat,
they're going to,
she's going to win the game.
She's like the new Kim,
Bradlin.
Like,
nobody's like how,
like,
watch out for Kilby.
Yeah,
Eric's coming out.
Watch out for Lewis.
Yeah.
Watch out for Rhode Island Robb and Eric.
Yeah.
And then you've got these really sharp.
Yeah.
They're like, let's vote out Mike.
Tann's like,
no, not Mike.
Mike is nothing.
Mike is bogus.
Let's get back to voting out the women.
The women are the threats.
It's true.
I think this is,
I think that's the issue.
Like,
they're like so much,
like so obviously more.
strategic than the goofball.
Yeah, honestly, that's not a bad theory.
But we got to talk about this tribal council for Kilby and for Lewis.
And there's so much here to unpack.
My first question when this happened, I texted Mike Bloom.
And I said, like, hey, did they change the rules on the survivor tiebreaker?
Because here's this scenario that we have.
Maggie comes in.
She brings two extra votes.
One for you, Kilby.
One for you, Lewis.
and so we end up with a four-four tie in my mind,
and I'm like, okay, so four votes on Linnea,
four votes on Linuis, on Lewis.
Louis can't vote.
Linnea can't re-vote.
And now, okay, well, now it's going to be four votes for Lewis,
and then two votes for, and Kilby with his extra vote,
can re-vote.
And no, it's four-four again.
Lewis is revoting on the
re-vote. I said to Mike Bloom, I texted
him and like, since when?
And Mike Bloom says that
this has happened before
and Mike Bloom cited that
Surrey in
season 50 also
on a tie re-vote
got to vote again
and he says it's because it's the extra vote
if you play the extra vote you get to
vote again on a tie. How about that?
But so, but like
could like
But Linnea didn't play an extra vote, and she got to vote again on the tie.
I think if there are extra votes involved, it seems a little ticky-tack to me.
It seems odd.
And I don't know if maybe somebody could explain what the rule is better to me.
Do you, if there were no extra votes, if this was an eight-person tribal council and this was a four-four tie, would they say, okay, well, the two people, you can't vote for you, you camp up for you.
and then so only six people will vote.
Maybe get rid of the rule altogether, right?
Like, just like let the people vote.
You know, if it's just because there's like a counteracting factor,
but we're in this world of losing votes and extra votes,
just get rid of the rule where the two relevant people can't vote.
And it's that easy.
Yeah.
So in season 50 that friends of the pod,
Rick Devons and Emily, that they both voted for three,
Surrey voted twice for Emily and Rick Devin
or then and Jonathan and Tiffany voted for Rick Devin's
and so it was a two-two-two tie
and then on the re-vote,
Surrey is still allowed to vote.
Yeah. Well, Surrey.
Yeah.
That's a, you know, come on.
So first, I guess, is this an issue?
Does this bother you at all?
No.
I mean, again, like, I think you just get rid of the rule entirely
where this person isn't allowed to vote.
I think it would be more annoying
if, like, the extra vote only worked on the first vote
And then suddenly, I mean.
Well, then, okay, then how about this?
Then, because if it makes sense, Stephen.
Okay, so if Lewis and Linnea are allowed to vote again on the revote,
why should they be immune from the rock draw?
Like, shouldn't they, shouldn't they also have to pick rocks?
Yeah.
You got to pick a lane with this.
Okay, yeah, kettle of worms.
Real kettle of worms?
A kettle of fish and a can of worms.
Yeah.
I mean, you're a fishback.
You should get a kettle of fish.
Seems like too much.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It didn't bother me, but I do agree that it's kind of like a...
Then let's not spend too much time on it.
If it doesn't even bother you and I feel like that...
Did it bother you?
No, but I'm a little bit like I thought that that was the rule.
I thought that was the whole thing about like, okay, well these two, this is what forces the stalemate.
But if, listen, I don't want to get in the weeds if it's not something that people are annoyed about.
But let's talk about...
I'm sure some people will be annoyed.
Yeah.
Let's talk about Kilby's motivation here because I want to know that was this actually the right move for Kilby or is Kilby just such an agent of chaos in that it was just too exciting for him to pass up?
I think, first of all, I think that has to be some of the motivation, right?
Like there's a huge opportunity to flip the script on this majority group, have like a big moment, you know, and they're not going to forgive him.
It's not just like he outfoxed them.
He like made them all betray themselves for selfish reasons.
You know, he like, he exposed the worst part of each part of those people as they like, you know, screwed over their friend for their own.
Seckless.
Yes, their fecklessness.
So like that's something you don't forget when someone exposes you to like your most like sad inner self.
So I do think he's like brought a lot of ire upon himself.
That's at such a big moment.
How do you not go through with this?
The odds are in his favor, you know, not just because he's one in, you know, he would be one and four in the rock draw.
Yeah.
potentially one in six.
But the, or two and six.
Well, I think he'd be one and four in the rock draw.
One and four in the rock draw.
But also because, you know, that whole idea that the group that's most committed to drawing rocks is the one that almost never has to draw a rock.
Right.
If your group is so tight and you're in, like the other group almost always will fracture and fall apart.
At least that's what I've seen.
Yeah.
I'd love to talk through the pros and cons of this move from the Killby perspective.
So from the more straightforward perspective,
it seemed like that he had made bonds with the new Savu.
The new tribe that he's on.
Oh, no, he's on Dina.
Oh, Dina.
That's right.
But the old Savu, I guess I should say.
But so he made very close bonds with, certainly with Eric.
It seemed like that there's a home for him potentially.
in this group of four.
He could throw Lewis under the bus.
He gets the extra vote from Maggie,
which I presume that he could keep.
I don't know if it was,
if the Maggie extra vote
was only a one tribal council vote
or if you could potentially bank the vote
that Maggie was giving to somebody.
I don't know necessarily,
like you'd have to like freeze frame
on the note that came along with her advantage.
So, but it seemed like he,
it seemed like that he, in confession,
said that he could keep the extra vote that Maggie had given to him.
Right, which I believe.
I mean, I think they would not put that out there if that was mechanically false.
So to lose Lewis, I don't know if Lewis would be particularly missed.
Lewis and Kilby voted together in the group of six that voted against Pat.
Since then, Jenna has been eliminated from the game.
So potentially Maggie and Tanan and Carter are annoyed with a...
with Kilby moving forward.
But I think there's also the element of, you know,
I mean,
classically,
the element is like,
why would you flip over from your one big group to the other little group,
or,
you know,
to the other group when you're going to be at the bottom of that group, right?
Like,
so much has been made of how Saba was so tight and they say,
they speak in terms of we and,
you know,
each of them is unbreakable from the whole.
So,
like,
why would you choose to go with them knowing
you're always going to be an outsider.
I mean, I guess the argument is it's a very different game,
probably by the time you're down to the final seven.
Nobody's really like caring about that kind of thing.
Well, the argument is also a 25% chance of going home by drawing a rock.
And then you've also now really alienated three people who are very angry with you
in Sharonda, Eric, and Christian moving forward.
So there's a downside to go ahead and make this move.
Yeah, there's definitely that downside, and that's, you know, certainly a risk that it rebounds on him very badly.
It's just such a sweet move.
And then, you know, like, you want to be the guy who did that move, right?
It's like, to your point, it's like, it's the Rick Devons era of Survivor.
It is the Rick Devons era.
And I think that to the producers of Survivor, I think that they are really, you know, singing from the Rick Devon's hymnal.
This is like now that, you know, everybody and like production is like, you know,
Yes, yes, we love, this is the open era.
And Lewis is even saying like, hey, this is 51.
This is what we do now on Survivor.
And I think that that is what the open era embodies.
And I think that the audience was probably,
I know I was very exciting tribal council.
I just don't know if this was ultimately the right move.
But maybe that's what survived, you know,
we're tired of people making the right moves.
Make the fun move.
Well, and like this is the kind of move.
that you point to at the end of the game that like stand you know you could drift to the end
as like the bottom of the saboo alliance and like maybe things work out for you in such a way
that like you know the balls fall and you get to like be the winner or you could try to like
have as much agency as you can yeah put yourself in a decent spot and ultimately if this
ups your chance of being being brought back yes you know maybe big brother calls
and you win big brother call me crazy uh i feel like that the winner of the season will not be
either Kilby or Lewis,
but I do feel like that the chances
of either Kilby or Lewis being
brought back has gone up
exponentially. Yeah, and I actually
I'm not out on Lewis.
It's possible, certainly.
Yeah. I think Lewis could very well win this season.
Then let's just talk about it
from the perspective of make this move.
Okay, so here you are,
you're Kilby, you have a shot on,
and Maggie comes in to, here's the advantageous, go after
Linnea. Linaa's like, what did I do?
Why me?
Yeah.
Because she's dangerous.
Dangerous.
Dangerous.
Savvy ladies that this season is full of.
Right.
And so we now end up with four votes on Linnea.
Interestingly, Kilby reveals, I have the extra vote that I came back.
She gave me an extra vote.
I have the extra vote.
I'm not going to use it.
He only reveals one of the extra votes.
He doesn't reveal that it's, but it's not enough.
It's not enough.
It's only, no, we only have three.
We need five.
This is like very smart, I feel like giving a little bit of information to make it seem like they're giving a lot of information.
You know, by saying I've got this extra vote, here's what happened.
They have a total distraction from like, oh, we actually have a whole plan to upend this travel council.
And then ultimately, what I think was so fun was Kilby says, hey, I will go to rocks.
I want to go to. Killby's even disappointed.
He did not get to go to rocks.
Not the Daniel Strunk plan.
No, no.
He didn't open the negotiation by saying I won't go to rocks.
Yes.
He said, I would like to go to Rocks.
Are you surprised that no, none of Eric Chirondah or Christian was willing to go to Rocks for Linnea?
No, because I think, I really just think, like, you know, first of all, I think once it's put to you in that way, like, you know, the first person to kind of claim that, like, immovable ground puts so much pressure on the other people.
And like from their perspective, right, like from Kilby's perspective, like the odds are that someone from
Purple are going to be voted out.
So if you are Christian or Eric or Sharonda, you know, either you're sort of like just eliminating
for someone from Purple or you'll take taking the risk that you are in danger or someone
from Purple goes home anyway versus Kilby only has like one side of that, right?
It's like him.
There's no like there's no other downside of like losing an ally.
additionally.
The Alexis Tribe of Council,
presumably if we're to believe,
the chronology of the episode happened first.
Right.
And the Purple Tribe has been decimated.
A couple of weeks ago,
it looked like a purple is pretty strong,
even after Carter flipped,
that they have such a strong core.
They're these women
that they voted together against Anna
in Sharonda and Linnea
and Alexis and Kristen.
And they have been
scattered all over and the former Savu tribe is in shambles.
Yeah.
It's funny that they're the ones that are so Savu strong when they really are in,
at this point, they're in like the, well, I mean, I guess it really was this episode
that sort of like switched up their situation because it was more even prior to this episode.
Listen, Kristen is not out of the woods either, especially if we're going to potentially
not merge in the next episode.
I mean, Sharonda is going to have to then.
officially, all eggs are now in the helicopter alliance.
There is no, Sabu is going to be Eric and Christian pretty soon.
Yeah, it's really true.
Yeah.
This was a 10-person drive.
Yeah, that's crazy.
You're absolutely right.
Although, you know, Carter Mutinied.
Carter Mutinied, yeah.
So it's really, I think that there's a lot more intrigue in terms of,
then it's going to really turn into like the helicopter alliance versus the people that voted out Pat.
That's going to be the what's going to happen at the merge.
You're probably right. That's really interesting.
Where does Brady fall into all that?
I think that he's honorary helicopter alliance.
I think he's going to the cookout, I think.
Yeah, he's with Devin.
And then where does Kilby fall into all that?
He voted out Pat.
He voted out Pat.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
All right.
That's actually pretty right.
Yeah.
It'll be interesting.
And then I think that Eric and Christian are really not going to have a home unless that they are like charondos plus ones to the Helicopter Alliance and Friends.
What about Mike?
Is he like honorary Helicopter Alliance?
I think he's a little attenuated this idea of a helicopter alliance.
Well, I think that there will be, it'll have to split up.
But I do think it's going to be.
Oh, she voted out of.
Yeah, I think it'll be the Helicopter Alliance and Friends against the people who voted.
out Pat. Yeah. Okay. That's interesting.
Yeah. And then Christian and Eric, where do they go? They're the difference makers.
All eyes are on Christian and Eric at the merch. But yeah, this was down to jewelry.
Yeah, this was a really, really interesting moment. I'd love to talk about the scramble that
ended up happening. You saw people do one-on-ones. We saw Linnea had one-on-ones with Kilby.
Christian had one-on-ones with Kilby. Did you think that any, what anybody said was
effective or particularly ineffective?
You know what? I was thinking about actually, like, how whiny these one-on-ones were.
You know, they seemed like more indignant.
Is this how you read it too?
Like, you know, Christian says, I don't know what else I could have given you.
You know, it sounds like he's being like broken up with.
Like, you tore my heart out, you know, and that was sort of the overall vibe.
Like, we loved you, Kilby.
Like, how could you?
You know, there were a few gestures of like, we can still move forward together.
why would you do this?
You're a game player.
This has been your dream.
Like I thought those were the more effective appeals,
but like, you know,
more putting it on like for him the stakes.
Like you've been like craving this for years.
Why would you put your,
your whole game on a coin?
You know, it seemed like that Kilby had so much leverage
and that people were trying to get Kilby to move.
And he was just like, no, I'm not.
No, no, no, no.
I almost feel like that Kilby
could have been even more on offense and said
to Eric, come with us. Come with us.
Well, that was, I was surprised that,
first of all, that they didn't do that at
the revote, you know? Like, I was
waiting for that appeal at the revo. Like, hey,
we're not flipping, like,
switch now, but certainly... Bro,
hug. Come with us.
Come with us.
I was surprised by that, too, that there was not
more of, like, let's go over. But I guess at the
point in time when it's, like, the unanimous
call, um,
it's like one person flipping doesn't really matter.
Like, they all have to come.
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Let's talk about Lewis, and he was completely down and out, gastrointestinal distress for Lewis last week.
Although we didn't get any of your thoughts on last week's episode.
So disappointed to miss the one where that was a theme.
I'm always happy to apply it on that subject.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So Lewis was down and out, but he's back, and he's raring to go, but it looks bleak for Lewis, that he looks like he's going to be the odd man out.
Lewis pulls out a Hail Mary
And he takes out the blood ring
Stephen
Was the blood ring
believable at all for you?
It was I think that
Sharonda's read
I mean obviously Christian's read
was sublime you know
He has like an expert jeweler
Like a you know
He had the exact wrong person
To try to be pulling this bluff on
But I thought Sheranda's read was very smart too
This is just too
This is like too much of a real thing.
Was the issue so much that Christian was an expert jeweler
or that Lewis had already told a story about the ring previously
and that was really the tell?
But if it had been me and he was like, yeah, it was a raw uncut emerald,
it's like this design.
I'm like, okay, whatever.
Like I probably would not have registered that.
But, you know, I think it matters.
So I think that's where it matters
that Christian has this expertise, right?
He's like seeing in on every one of the,
oh, the uncut emerald.
You know, the same uncut emerald.
You know, I will say that I was duped enough that I made a video earlier in the
week of who's going home at the, who's not going to make the merge.
I thought this was the last episode before the merge.
I made a video called Who's going to home?
And I said, and I watched the trailer.
I said, oh, blood ring.
Blood ring, new advantage in the game.
And you see Sharonda.
She's got, oh, the blood ring.
And they're explained to Linnea.
I'm like, oh, I think that Sharonda is giving Linnea the blood ring.
I don't know what this is going to mean.
What's this going to do?
And I said, oh, they, well, they just had a blood moon.
So what does the blood ring mean?
Are you going to two tribal councils?
for a blood ring?
Is Linnea voting twice?
No, no, Linnea's getting voted out, you idiot.
I mean, especially when it's in a preview, though.
I was a very compelling pitch.
And, like, good for him.
Isn't that, he said it's his wedding ring?
He put his wedding ring out.
Did Sharonda, is Sharana going to give that back to him?
Mm-hmm.
You would think so, right?
It's his wedding ring, but then she just, like, really,
he just really deceived her.
Mm-hmm, yeah.
Well, maybe if she tries to go play it at a tribal council
and Jeff throws him in the fire,
like, no, no, no, no, no, I mean that.
But I think Sarah Lassina is seen in this press,
I think Sarah Lucina gave her wedding.
Well, I don't think it was really her wedding ring.
I think it was like a ring that she just wore on Survivor.
She gave it to Brad Culpepper and said, this is my wedding ring.
And then ultimately, you know, then still like was ready to do whatever.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, very fun, innovative move by Lewis here.
Did you, what are you, are you a fan of this?
Yeah, I mean, look, this is a great creative idea.
now I feel like that in the past
we've sort of frowned upon people bringing stuff in
hey PG you can't bring in all this other stuff
although Abby Maria is a happy birthday to Abby Maria by the way
is accusing
How did they do?
Yeah well that was yesterday that was yesterday.
Still.
So you know PG I think I like was bringing in like Flint earrings
and stuff like that so I guess Markham I think had like
sewn like fishing line into like her bra or something.
Yeah, bring in stuff to make your own fake idols and amulets.
Yeah.
This is the new era.
It's 51.
This is the open era.
It's all happening for Lewis.
Yeah.
But it seemed like that Lewis was going to be dead to rights.
And I would have been sad for Lewis to go home.
I really like Lewis.
Very fun character.
Again, like very innovative play.
You know, huge, you know, and he does seem to be playing a very fun game.
And that seems to be important to him.
You know, he and Carter deciding sort of it to go against Pat.
The whole point of that seemed to be sort of like play a fun, swingy game.
And this certainly is in line with that.
Yeah.
What do you think moving forward is the fallout of this?
Sharonda and Eric and Christian, are they now just persona non-grada number one is Kilby?
And then they are going to be trying to get him out of the game.
No, I 100% think so.
Because again, this is emotional.
Like, he, like, truly, like,
I think, like, the person who exposes the worst part of you and then, like, you know,
the most, like, sad, you know, like, blubbering, you know, miserable self, self, you know,
I don't know, present preserving part of you.
Like, that's like someone who's done something like deeply wounding to your, like,
psyche, to your ego.
So, you know, we all go out there being like, I'm going to stick up for my friends and I'm
going to, like, play a good game, but I'm going to be devious too.
But then when you, like, you know, have to make this, like,
like capitulating maneuver to like save yourself.
I think that's like, you know, that hurts.
So I'm sure they're going to want to get about it in revenge.
What about you?
Do you think this was a good move?
I guess I kind of said I think it's a good move.
Where were you on that?
You know what?
I feel like that this is a flashy move.
I don't know if I can say,
I'm glad he did it.
This is good TV.
I feel like that at the end of the day,
I don't know if we look back and say that this was,
you know, what you would do to win the game.
Yeah, but like, you know, is he better served?
Because here's the thing.
Maggie, it's not just like Kilby is doing this without any context, right?
Maggie has set him up to do it.
Maggie has given him these two extra votes, including one of Brady's extra votes, you know,
or a vote that Brady considers his.
Yeah.
And has said like, hey, do this big thing.
If Kilby then just like, let's Lewis go.
What if he gives the vote back to Maggie after?
He's like, you know what?
that I made good relationships.
Lewis was, he was sketching me out.
He wasn't feeling good.
Here's the extra vote back.
I couldn't pull the trigger on it.
I don't know.
I think like, all the people who are like, what the f?
You just like, you know, we set up this like brilliant move for you to save Lewis,
who was like on our team.
And then you just like let him go.
What if you tell Maggie, you know what?
That it wasn't going to work because on the tie, Lewis wouldn't be allowed to vote.
They were going to like, like, Maggie would be like, oh my God.
I didn't think of that.
Didn't think of that.
No, because on last season,
Surrey was allowed to vote.
They didn't see that episode yet.
They didn't see that episode yet.
I just think that like the idea that he's like winning favor with the Savoos
and that there's like a blank slate on the other side is not accurate.
I think he would be like losing a lot.
You know,
he might be alienating Toka to win that favor with the Savoos.
And like so it's not necessarily clear like I'm gaining four people to lose one person.
I think so in that,
that being said, like I think you save it, save the guy who saved you.
last tribal? I think if I'm being
fair about it, I think that
ultimately, you know,
it's great TV. I think Eric
is going to come back around. Maybe he lost
Christian as an ally, and did
he ever have Charonda? So I think
that probably, at the end of the day, I think
I probably come down that it is
a good move. It is a
wild move. It is a crazy move.
I'm glad that this is happening
in Survivor 51.
I just, I don't know if it's
the move I would make.
Really, you of all people, like, you know, flipping Sesterino, you know, it feels like it really me?
You know, I will say at RAPCon, we had a, I played in a LRG, and I was ready to go to rocks at the final eight, and I never felt more alive.
I was really, I was so into it.
I was so excited.
And also, like, you're thinking, like, you just saw Rick Winby, brother.
You're like, how do I, like, set myself up for a lifetime on these shows?
Yeah.
We're in full Devons here.
Yeah.
I do think, too, like, you know, Maggie came in with her big plan.
Like if you spoil Maggie's plan, Maggie's going to be mad at you.
You don't want to make Maggie mad.
Yep.
There's a whole farmer alliance.
Some pressure on her that she's making.
This is her big move also, that she's taking credit for this.
So I think that there is a lot of factors here.
So interesting stuff.
Yeah.
It's a fun.
It's fun.
I mean, and also like it's just fun.
I mean, it was a fun move.
It's hard to root against it when the, when like, the true strategic pureness is like hard to parse.
But this was obviously the right.
move for television and to have two pure agents of chaos in Kilby and Lewis partner up for this
it was fun fireworks were had. Yeah. And that's the thing too. Like Kilby's whole brand is a force of
chaos, you know? You know, and then when it comes down to it, you don't want to be like, you know,
chicken out. Let's talk about a less chaotic vote on the other side of things. It was Alexis. This was
kind of a foregone conclusion. If Alexis went back to another tribal council, she was going to
get voted out. And we did have some compelling story here of, we heard from Devin and Alexis and
from Ori. The reasons why they wanted to be on Survivor, and a lot of that was really touching.
I thought it was kind of reminiscent of in Survivor 48 when you had Joe and Kyle and Camilla and
Shaheen were like the last four people that were left on their tribe and they were talking about
their backstory and their parents. And I commend the survivor editors that we have left the
backstories in the new era. I'm sure, I bet they wanted to so badly to show pictures of Devon's
family or Alexis as a younger person or Ori's mom. And I commend them for standing their ground. No
flashbacks in the open era.
Really? Like, you think you would have been
upset to have seen the pictures? I wouldn't have been upset, but I like that they've
made a choice and that was something that we did in the new era.
And the issue was not that they did it, was that they did it too much.
But I like that they have committed to not do it in the open era.
I think if you want to bring in a picture and there's a moment like this,
just like, you know, email them. You know, you don't need to get the, you know,
like, hey, can you send us some pictures of your family is some very powerful moment?
Yeah.
That'd be nice. I would have liked it.
Okay.
Well, listen, I like that we are planting our flag on what's different here in the open era.
But we really looked at this story a lot through the eyes of Jelly, who, Jelly, it seemed like that she was the one who was really wrestling with this decision.
And Jelly calls it out in the show.
And also, I commend the show for people in the show talking about this and not just leaving it to for like, okay, just let it be the elephant in the room and let the fans talk about it.
six women have been voted out of the show.
And really, at this point, only four women had been voted out of the show where we saw
Jelly talking about this.
And Jelly is sort of dealing with this like intersectionality of her identity of,
okay, I have the Helicopter Alliance and I have, you know, I am going to like look
out for people that are from this racial part of my identity.
And then I also have my gender identity.
And I have, like, I'm sort of in a no-win situation of I'm either, I'm hurting one of those two things.
And I do hope that the audience gives us two alpha males some grace to try to talk about some of these sensitive topics.
But I felt like that jelly was a little bit in an unfair position here in the episode where for jelly,
I feel like this decision was more on Ori, right?
Oh, that's interesting.
But it looked like they, you know, Ori would maybe have gone with Jelly if Jelly chose to vote out,
Devin.
No.
I mean, that was sort of, I mean, it seemed like.
We saw Jelly talked to, Jelly talked to, like, I think that we saw Ori, like, I think that we saw Ori.
talking with Alexis, but I don't think we ever saw the one-on-one conversation. And forgive me if I missed it,
where Jelly and Ori talked about, hey, what should we do? Are we keeping Alexis or are we keeping Devin?
Yeah, I don't know if we got that conversation either. I mean, we did have Ori saying that in confessional.
You know, on the one hand, he's got his helicopter alliance, his alliance from day one. On the other hand, he has this,
like, he says, like, more than an alliance, like a real bond with Alexis. I mean, certainly the narrative of the episode,
was like this was Jelly's choice, right?
Like she was choosing between.
I mean, and truly like, what a burden to like put on someone to like be so,
to have like all of these different factors with so much, you know,
weight on them like governing your, you know, choices on Survivor, you know,
where her own,
her own position in the game was like third on the list of things she was thinking about.
I mean, I had the luxury and privilege of like only thinking about my own position
in the game.
And that's still overwhelming, you know.
So to also be having to like consider all these other factors.
Yeah, but even if I mean,
again, we didn't see
Ori's real point of view.
And I got the sense that he, you know,
definitely had a bond with Alexis.
But I think that that was more of like,
hey, moving forward as a four,
I would love to keep this thing going.
But, I mean, Jelly's vote
would have forced a two-two tie here.
And now we're going to go to Rocks.
And, you know, you saw Alexis tell
ori, hey, the plan is we should go to Rocks.
Did we not see a conversation?
We saw a conversation between some people
talking about how they had to get rid of Devin.
Like, I mean, obviously we saw Alexis.
You saw Alexis talking, Alexis talked to Jelly about, hey,
hey, Devin is not good for your game.
And Jelly considered it.
But ultimately, you know, I think that, you know, I think that there was,
the helicopter alliance, I think, was sticking together here.
Yeah.
I mean, that was my takeaway, too.
I didn't really think it was a question, you know.
But again, like, I thought Jelly was the decision maker.
I thought Jelly was the one and that Ori would be the one to, like,
you know, that Ori would go along.
If Jelly was pushing to get rid of Devin,
like would Ori have objected to that?
I mean, I think that Jelly could have pushed enough for,
I mean, it seems like that Ori has a better connection with Jelly
than Ori does with Devin.
That, again, that's based off of just of what I've seen in the show.
And if Ori really wanted to, you know, keep Alexis over Ory,
I think that we would have seen more of that.
Yeah.
Yeah, I agree.
I mean, it did, you know, it seemed like this was, you know,
but that jelly was really agonizing over these, you know,
really like impossibly challenging issues.
Yeah.
And jelly was, going back to the first episode, you know,
and it really kind of started this snowball of that she said to Aaliyah
about how, hey, I don't want a woman to go home first.
And it was going to be Jenna.
And she said, you know what?
I heard a lot of men
underperforming in the challenge.
Over-promising and underperforming, I think, was her quote.
And that's what sort of started the ball rolling of,
hey, Brady was saying all this.
And Alia mentions that to Jenna.
And then Jenna goes back to Brady and says,
oh, Alia was saying your name.
And then Brady is really pounded at the table
that we need to get Alia out of the game.
And from that first conversation, though,
was like, hey, we can't, we can't have there be women going out of the game.
Yeah.
I mean, from, I mean, like, there was obviously, just from a pure strategy perspective,
this was so clearly the right move for Jellet.
Yeah, I don't even think it's close.
Like, oh, my God, I'm just saying this.
Like, it's worth, it's worth putting it out there.
No.
You know, this was the right choice from, as a, as a player in a game.
Yeah.
This was the right choice.
There was a lot, she was conflicted here on a lot of different levels.
But, yeah, there was, it made no sense for her to want.
keep the person from the other tribe.
Right. And Devin and
she have been so tight.
You know, they've been on the wrong side and occasionally
the right side of many votes. I mean, I think that
last week was a bigger strategic
conversation of do you
keep Jenna or do you keep Alexis
in terms of the devil you know versus
the devil you don't. But I think
for this vote, I don't think that
there was any sort of
strategic intrigue for
Jelly or Devin. I think for
Ori, he might have been the person
and who might have had some strategic intrigue.
But maybe the fact that maybe Jelly was sort of like entertaining these conversations in confessional,
where Ori may have just, like, defaulted back to, no, take the layup.
This is the layup of get rid of, get rid of Alexis here.
Why go to rocks?
Why make a high.
I have this other alliance.
We're going to merge soon.
What am I going to keep?
I like Alexis, but why am I going to keep her?
Did you have a thought going back to last week's episode?
didn't get to talk about, about Jenna versus Alexis, what should Devin and Jelly have done?
Yeah, I honestly thought that that was the right choice, right? Like for some, I mean, just because
there was so much bad blood between Devin and Jenna, I mean, from Devin's side, you know,
like, I blamed Devin for that. I felt bad for Jenna that that was this position that she was
put in, but I still think it was the right call. I mean, what did you guys decide? How did you
Yeah, I mean, I thought that it would be better.
Because Jenna was running information back to them.
I didn't, like, again, I don't really understand the one-sided feud that Devin has had with Jenna.
Even after this tribal council tonight, when he celebrated about how he was so glad that she was gone.
What did Jenna do?
She just, like, didn't have the shot list.
That was it.
She didn't.
She wasn't really a wedding photographer in his mind.
And she was.
And she was bringing him information.
She was like, hey, Alexis is talking about you.
So I don't know if there was something that we didn't see,
but he just did not like the cut of her jib.
Yeah.
I will say, like, I mean, on the merits,
you think, like, it just makes sense to get rid of,
I mean, I'm sure you, I didn't, I haven't yet,
listen to the podcast with over time.
Yes.
I'm sure that.
You're backed up on all the podcasts from last week.
I have about, I have a 30 seasons of podcast in this.
But, no, but I, you know, on the merits,
makes so much sense to vote out Alexis in that spot.
Because not only do you get rid of someone from the other tribe, but then you like,
then you like solidify.
Yeah.
Ori with you because he's got nobody else to go to.
You don't set up whatever like potential two to thing they had this week.
Like, you know, looking down like, but that said, if you just don't jive with someone,
it kind of makes sense to get them out of the game.
It felt like to me, I felt like that Ori really wanted to keep Alexis and Devin was so
out on Jenna that it seemed like that that was like the compromise that everybody could live with
of like, okay, if it's like a 50-50 between Jenna or Alexis, Ori really wants to keep Alexis.
And so why don't we keep Orii happy?
And at the end of the day, it ultimately doesn't matter because they go to another travel
council and Alexis ends up going home.
And Alexis gets a really tough break here because Alexis is somebody who was in a really good
position.
She tried, you know, both her and Jenna really tried their hardest.
last week for for both of them.
There was just no way that they, they were outnumbered and they didn't even really know
what was going on because the helicopter alliance formed so quickly for both of them.
They both did a great job.
I know, and that's what is so frustrating about these three tribes, you know, is, I mean,
I'm sure you talked about this with Homer last week, but, you know, suddenly we just went
from these three episodes where there were so much room to maneuver and so much room to play.
And like, you know, people who looked absolutely like they were going, you know, going home,
suddenly got saved because of like another faction emerged.
And people who look like they were absolutely safe went home because like
because of a game of telephone.
And that just doesn't happen on these three tribes, you know,
with just five or six people where you have to kind of like get into your little
power cluster and then like hold on to it.
You know, there's just no room to play.
And it's obviously so frustrating to watch someone like Jenna who just just got screwed.
You know, like she just got in a group with three people who were already together.
two of them didn't like her from the jump or one of them even didn't like her from the jump and she just had no nowhere to go and like it feels bad you know it feels okay to see someone get outplayed but it doesn't feel good to see someone just get you know voted out for like nebulous personal you know reasons and then stephen if we're not going to merge in this next episode and maybe there'll be another trailer that shows that that is the case but i guess it's only like day 10 so i think there still are it's not
enough days, even though it feels like enough episodes. I think in the new era at least,
typically it was a five episode pre-merge, and then we would get to our mergerary episode by
episode six. Maybe we're going to play this out. I do wonder, maybe could we go back to two tribes
with 14 people in the game? I were really going to do three tribes with a three-person tribe next
week. I mean, you know, 31, we went from three to two at this point, I think, right?
for like one or two vote, maybe just one vote,
and then back to it and then the merge.
So it can be done.
Yeah, we'll see what they end up doing
with the tribes coming up next week.
Let's go back and talk about
the other tribe that we didn't get to talk about,
which I think actually might have been a fun tribal council
if we would have seen the new Toka go to tribal council.
What do you think's happening there with that six?
I know.
It really seemed like there was a lot.
lot going on where
Brainy, you know,
like,
doesn't,
like it's suspicious of Maggie because she's,
what was it like a penguin or something he characterized?
No,
I think that's the next week's.
I think that's the preview for next week's episode.
He said she's like a baby penguin,
but he does not like how she's very indecisive.
He said that,
she says she has to pee and she has to poop.
Yeah.
And then you've also got,
and then, of course,
Kristen seems like an outsider,
but it seems like all the guys are really into her,
like, knowledge.
Yeah, last week.
We got to see Kristen show up on this tribe.
And it looked like that Kristen was getting along well with Tanan and had been making some bonds.
But it seemed that Carter was really out on Kristen.
We didn't get any of that in this episode.
We actually saw Maggie doesn't really like Kristen because Tanan likes Kristen too much.
Yeah.
Hey, was it hypocritical of Brady to call Maggie a baby penguin when he was so upset about being called a cousin, you know, like a young cousin?
five-year-old with the controller doesn't get plugged in.
Yeah, I mean, is that sort of the same kind of discourse, you know,
that he didn't like being a, you know?
Are you saying that he can dish it out, but he can't take it?
Well, yeah, we've seen him take it.
I think he can't take it, actually.
He can't take it, yeah.
I don't know, maybe he would say this is like a colorful allegory more than he was making fun.
Right. Okay. All right, that's allowed.
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
So if this tribe goes to tribal,
Council, what do you think is happening?
You know, you have these five TOCA members that they were from the original TOCA.
It's just, it's so interesting because now in this tribe, there's nobody from the helicopter
alliance that's still there.
And so, and the helicopter alliance exists, but it exists secretly, which we don't typically
have in Survivor a secret alliance that's actually...
A secret cross-tribal alliance that has like, enduring.
multiple swaps.
Yes.
Which is really interesting.
So we know going into this tribe, or the merge potentially, there's 14 people, there's four
people that are in this helicopter alliance.
The helicopter alliance has a lot of what we would call in Big Brother parachutes where
they have like lots of plus ones like Brady, who like Christian with Sharonda, where
that they could be like bringing numbers with them.
unfortunately for Jelly and Devin and Ori
they've kind of used up all of their numbers
but they still have some other connections
in you know Mike and Brady
from the old Toka tribe
so that gives them what six
and then if Christian comes along
the seven and then Christian Charonda
alliance come from is this just like because
they're like in that sort of Sanu
Christian's never been on a tribe with any other person
that's still in the game except for Sharonda
what about Eric? What about Eric and what about Kristen
and Kristen and Shuranda that they were
from the beginning of the game.
From the jump, yes.
So Kristen could be in a very interesting position
where she's kind of bonding
with the people who voted out, Pat.
She could be an interesting swing vote, potentially.
So it does feel like
that there are two sides that are starting to brew.
Yeah.
That's interesting.
I like how you're sort of,
I like what you said about two sides starting to brew.
It does look like they're sort of, you know,
coalescing.
But yeah, I mean, it's interesting.
because there's so many,
there's so many different,
like little sub factions
that are a part of that we haven't seen play out.
But I think,
I think that's a good lay of the land.
Yeah.
If that tribe does go to another tribal council
or would have gone to one today,
do you think that Kristen would have been the person
who goes home or you think it would have been Mike or Brady?
I think it would have been Maggie, maybe.
Like, you know,
or Mike,
Maggie or Mike.
I don't feel like Brady's actually in any danger.
And certainly the challenges are physical enough that like,
and he's been a real beast in them.
Talk me through about Maggie.
Well, you know,
Maggie was the one that Brady was fixated on.
And as we've seen, when Brady fixates,
you know, he really fixate.
That is true.
She does have the extra vote.
And so that I think it really would have come down to what does Christian want to do.
But Maggie is tight with Tannan who has Carter, and that's three.
And then Maggie does have the extra vote.
If they had gotten wind at all that there was going to be any sort of, like if they were getting votes,
I think she does end up playing that extra vote.
You know what?
I forgot about the Tanaan-Carter connection.
because I was thinking of Carter Brady
that even though they voted against each other.
But I did forget about that scene
where Carter and Tanan pledged their loyalty to each other.
Yeah. Mike looked like that he might have been the person
who was in trouble.
And then he ultimately plays his way out of being in trouble
with a very clutch, like a shot.
Listen, maybe he should be working for the Knicks, not the Yankees.
Yeah, truly.
Yeah.
What else from last?
week was on your mind.
Was there anything that caught your attention from last week's episode?
I mean, you know, what was the argument for Ori being the Zahiro?
He got what he wanted.
He got to keep his person.
They could have gone along and kept Jenna, which would have been a number for the...
So he got to basically have his helicopter alliance thrive,
and then he also got to have the old Savu alliance thrive.
although old Savu is is decimated.
But it did seem like Devin truly was the one who was the decision maker in the
and now you're seeing him celebrate, you know, you think like, well, he really was the one
driving.
He really did.
He did not care for Jenna really at all.
What did you think about this twist this week where, hey, okay, you've liked that we've
been doing a bunch of old stuff.
Okay, it's the open era.
There's going to be a lot more twist to.
We had one tribe win immunity.
and you have to pick to go,
go leave and don't eat
any of the pastries.
Oh, yeah. I'm 100%. I mean, like,
pastries are one of the worst survivor rewards,
right? I mean, they're, because they're like, just like sugar.
And obviously it's calories, but it's not like,
like substance, you know? I mean, it had to been like peanut butter
or pizza. It would be a different situation.
Yeah. So you would have left to go and go,
they didn't even tell you what it is.
But you would have gone and left.
I think I would have.
I think because it does seem like,
you know, even from last season, it seems like
like, you know, there was obviously such a
negative, uh, tinge to so many
of those, you know, journeys, like certainly
Christians being the most obvious.
Uh, but it does seem like the journeys now
are sort of on the more, you know,
less dangerous fun version of things, just fun.
Yeah.
Where there's more advantage and less disadvantage.
What do you, I mean, and I think,
yeah, I mean, I think you kind of want to be the one
doing the thing, right? Like, what do you think?
I don't know. I feel like you're missing out on a reward
and also potentially,
something bad is going to happen to you.
You could lose your vote.
You know, I know it's the open era,
but I don't know how necessarily we have a guarantee.
You're not going to go lose your vote.
I think that you were the tribe that won reward.
So I guess that for the survivor gods,
that they are going to give you something good.
Is this ultimately something great for Maggie?
She actually went somewhere and gave away one of her advantages.
Yeah, but she saves like two of her allies, right?
Which is pretty great.
I mean, Kill me who is just voted with her.
Right, right.
Right, right, right. But she's, yeah, I guess that's a good point. She says one of her allies.
But, yeah, that's a very good point. But she has the power to do that. And then also, you know, you just don't know what that person is going to get. I mean, that's the other thing. To let someone who you don't particularly trust or like, you know, if Maggie wants Kristen out, then to let Kristen get like whatever the magic superpower is. Like I, my strategy generally is just like one of control, which is like very hard in this era of survivor when there's so much like random stuff thrown at you.
But I think, like, you still want to know and control as much as you can, right?
I don't know.
Is that true?
Am I, like, I think there's a world where, like, in this podcast, I'm sort of renouncing all of my core previous belief.
Like, oh, yeah, kill me.
Like, roll the dice.
Let's go.
It's the open era.
You're allowed to renounce all your beliefs.
I've just come from the, you know, the other side of the world.
You were giving, you were telling people how to play in a certain era of Survivor.
And now you're telling people how to play in season 51 of Survivor.
Yeah.
We need to think about this because it was, I'm so like, but as, as this episode.
He's re-release the book.
As our podcast has gone on, I more and more think that it was the right choice for Kilby.
At first, I think I was just high on in the enthusiasm of it.
But now, like, I mean, you know, you don't want to be, even just from a game perspective, generally, like, the fifth person in this decision, as in this decision, you know.
Well, okay.
How about this?
Because I, too have been, like, on the backburner, continuing to think about this.
It doesn't look like we're going to have a merge.
this is a move certainly like playing for we're going to merge tomorrow.
This tribe could go to tribal council tomorrow.
Right.
And then in which case like he's gone gone for sure.
And now there are three in Eric.
And maybe he's like, hey, they're going to vote for Lewis.
Eric loves me.
It's like I'll pull some.
I'll pull Eric over.
We'll vote out Christian.
But you are outnumbered at this point, three to two.
No, but it's a great point.
Like if he lets Lewis go, then he's next.
And like even, I mean, so that's a, that's a really good point.
A point for making the move.
Yeah, for making the move.
Why, do you think it was a point against making the move?
I thought it was a point against making the move in that,
that if you go to tribal, you like, you pissed, now you pit, like, you pissed everybody off.
And now you're down three to two.
But I guess you're making the counter argument of a, if you have to go to a second tribal council,
you're kind of screwed anyway.
Yeah, because if Lewis isn't there and like, we think the Saba group is all together,
like, they're voting for you.
And, like, even if they bring you into the fold, you're still not.
one of the key decision makers. And I think like that's one of my least favorite ways to play
Survivor, like when in the, in the various positions I've been in, when I have been in this sort of like,
oh yeah, I love that idea, guys. Like, let me come along for the ride. Like, it's not even a fun,
it's like a not fun way to play. It's not going to win you votes. If you're just sort of like the,
like, hey, guys, I'm here here too, you know, like the friend who's along for the journey.
Yeah, I think at the end of the day, Linnea, I don't think was going to be working with
Kilby anyway, so it was a shot at a person who was doing something completely different than
what Kilby's side was doing. And so, yeah, I guess we're going to say good move. Yeah.
Fishing for Kilby. Well, hold on. We didn't even play this song. Oh, shoot. Okay. This is going to be
anticlimactic. Who do you think it should be, Rob? Oh, that's such a good question.
What about Lewis?
Fishing for Lewis.
Pitching for Lewis.
Well, Lewis does fishies.
Yeah.
Lewis is certainly the one who is pushing for this to happen.
Listen, Lewis had everything to gain from this and nothing to lose.
Kilby had, Kilby may have pissed off three people.
Lewis pissed off.
No, Lewis got all of the same exact things and pissed off.
Nobody. Nobody's mad at Lewis.
But it's not a strategic move.
This is like asking Erica whether she wants to like flip the hourglass or not.
Like, oh, do I want to be safe, potentially stay in the game or do I want to go home today?
Yeah.
You know what's so funny at the tribal council?
Kilby was like standing there.
He was like, hey, listen, I stick up for my friends.
They were like, you were saying to vote him out before.
Like, well, now I changed my mind.
Different situation.
What about the fishy for Maggie?
So Maggie is one of the people in this episode who has this major decision point.
You know, she gets this extra vote and she can choose which tribe to go to.
Do you think she makes the right choice about which tribe to go to?
I guess she could have gone to the other tribe and given the extra vote to Alexis to vote out Devin.
Or give it to Devin
Just to make sure.
Yeah.
I've never met you before.
She doesn't know about the helicopter alliance.
She said like, hey.
It could look like a tie.
Yeah, Ori and Alexis.
I've never met you before, but I really,
that Devin was very mean to my friend, Jenna.
And so I didn't like that she got voted out.
Here's an extra vote.
So you two vote against Devin.
And then it's just 4 to 1 against Alexis.
Maybe this is a way for Maggie to like, you know,
from Maggie's perspective.
Right. Maybe it looks like a two-two tie in this group and she can help her old her old toka tribe take to take control.
So she's going to help Devin and Jellie. Yeah. Why not? You know.
She was not on the right same side of the vote as them. Yeah, but they're still all, you know, you know, it's like.
She voted the opposite way of them, two different tribal councils. But it's like Brady and Devin said, you know, like we move forward. You know, that's, that was, we vote against each other. Yeah.
Now, this was the more impactful move for Maggie. And it was a good, I mean, it was a very fun thing that she.
set up and she got the person Maggie is the person who got out the person she wanted eliminated.
She made me the only person who got out of the person she wanted eliminated.
How about this? We haven't checked in with you season 51. Are you seeing a winner edit from
anybody? I don't know. I don't know. I really don't know. We don't know what it winner edit looks
like in the open era. That's right. They could have used any winners edit from the past.
This could be a Gabler winner edit season. This could be, you know, like a Boston Robb winner edit season.
Listen, to my untrained eye, I do not feel like that anybody.
is getting an overwhelmingly winner edit.
What about Christian?
No, I thought he was going home tonight.
I really, every time he talks, I'm like,
uh-oh, visibility spike, he's going out.
Yeah.
No, I agree with you.
I really am having trouble because there's so many people.
It's a very, it's a very lovely,
it's a beautifully edited season.
Like, I feel like we know a lot of people.
I don't think we know everybody equally well.
Like, I don't think Mike has been a huge character.
I mean, Tannan, who's had like a lot of key,
decision points in the tribe, I think, has been underedited for all that.
So I don't know about her as well.
But there's a lot of other people who are...
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah, she, to me, I was asked, like, who's, like the dark horse right now?
I do think that Tanan has, like, dark horse energy in that she is, like, quietly seen as, like,
this strategic mastermind of those people that were on the old Toka.
And I think that she could be somebody who's interesting in the post-merge.
I wouldn't be shocked by a Tanan win.
I mean, like, we get enough scenes of her.
You know, we got the scene of her and Carter, like, making an alliance, which kind of came out of nowhere.
And then, like, you know, like, oh, no, we're pledging each other as our number one allies.
Like, and it didn't, like, have any immediate impact, I don't think.
So it did feel like that was something that, you know, felt significant.
We saw her as the one, you know, driving the pat vote.
So, I mean, Tanana's been a hugely influential force.
So I could see, I could absolutely see her winner.
Yeah.
I had felt pretty good about Sharonda.
this was kind of a down night for Sharonda.
Yeah, I've really liked Sharonda.
I mean, honestly, Lewis,
Lewis has like a real,
other than, like, his being sick last week,
you know, you can forgive the guy
for not having any great confessionals.
Yeah, I liked when you saw
when Kilby and Eric were talking about all the things,
and he was like,
what on earth are they talking about?
Yeah.
I like that.
What did you think about the bromance last week
with Kilby and Eric?
It was very funny.
I liked it a lot.
It certainly was one-sided.
I mean, you've got to give Kilby some strategic credit for, like, the way he sort of flipped his hair and played along with it.
Because I'm sure he really likes Eric, but, like, so much of that seemed to be coming from Eric.
Yes.
In a way that, like, Kilby more seemed to be, like, accepting it, you know, sort of like maybe caracade dance.
Not that's putting, that's too negative to poor Eric.
But, like, I don't want to, but, you know, playing into it for the sake of his position in this group.
I think Eric was so happy to have a friendly face who.
was interested in hearing his stories after the however many days at the Sabu Trod.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was very, very fun episode.
We didn't give the Fishery Award yet.
Let's give it to Kilby.
Okay.
What do you think?
Do you like that?
I mean, listen, you did give the Fishery Award away.
We went through a dog and pony show to act like we didn't give the Fishery Award.
Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay.
I thought I was like, I said something, Glib.
No, I think that there's a case to be.
made for Lewis who got all of the same things.
It didn't have to actually do the move.
But, I mean, it's Kilby's night.
And there was no, I mean, there just was no choice for Lewis.
It wasn't like he made a strategic move.
When we talk about this in three years, this is like the tribal council where Kilby flipped, you know, or Kilby went to rocks.
Yeah.
But, I mean, there is a world where Kilby's voted out next and because like, because the rest of Savo was so mad at him.
Sure.
So, in that case.
Will you retroactively take the fishy back?
There's so many times I've given the fishy to the person who's immediately then voted out.
Because they're like the big strategic character and then everybody's like, got to get them.
Yeah.
Okay.
Kelly, Cali and Albanyan.
All right.
What are you going to do?
All right.
Let's talk about what's coming up here on Robbins' podcast.
A double exit interview coming up on Thursday.
So check out my interview with Alexis and Linnea.
That's going to be coming up.
And then, oh, check this out.
that this is huge news.
I just got,
we had such a great show
in Washington, D.C. last week.
We are running it back
in Charlotte,
North Carolina on December 9th.
And we have some
huge exciting news to announce
because it will be
an evening with Dr. Christian
Hubicki.
Oh, that sounds like a lovely evening.
I'm very excited.
We are going to talk
with Christian in person
and get his
take on everything that's happening in the world of Survivor.
And it'll be a really, really fun night with Christian Hubicki on December 9th in Charlotte.
Go to robbers website.com slash events.
The patron pre-sale had been happening, but now we're opening up the tickets to the public.
Go to Robbins website.com slash events for more information.
How about that?
That sounds lovely.
And then tomorrow, look at this, Stephen.
Oh, Drew Baciel will join me.
A big series of cards with nerds on them.
Yes.
Straight from Christian to Drew.
Yes, we got to talk about this big move with Drew Bacil.
He just wrote a book.
We're going to talk about...
A book, two truths and a lie.
Yeah.
It sounds great.
Check it out.
And I'm very excited for Thursday's recap with Drew Baciel.
I'm so curious and so frustrating.
You know, he's going to have the benefit of 24 hours.
And, like, he's going to have all these really intelligent takes.
but I'm very serious to hear them.
But you're first.
You get to say it first.
I know,
but you know,
it's like,
even as we're talking,
I'm like,
there's like more thought,
you know,
so it's,
it's hard.
But I am very excited.
Drew,
Drew also has like interesting.
And he's not,
you know,
he doesn't serve the conventional wisdom.
He always comes in fresh.
Yes,
he comes to do with interesting takes.
I mean,
really,
if you would stay in Australia,
you would see the episode 24 hours
before I get to see it here on Wednesday
and then you would be able to formulate all of your opinions.
I don't know.
That's not how that works.
I mean,
You texted me on my birthday.
It was the day before my birthday.
Your birthday, it could be the first, yeah, because it was, yeah, your birthday beforehand
in Australia.
That's how, yeah.
Pretty sure that's how it works.
Yeah, that's how that works.
I don't know if that's how the TV released the episodes of 24 hours early.
All right.
And then on Friday, I will be back with the patrons live 3 p.m.
Eastern on Friday to take your questions, call in and talk with me about whatever's on
your mind on Friday afternoon.
Then Monday night, I'll be back with Chappelle on the patron.
feed to talk about everything that we can't talk about on the main feed in terms of Survivor on
Club Condo 7 p.m. Eastern for that on Monday night. We also do every week a patron survivor game
night. It's interactive. It's on Cahoot. It's Mike Bloom and Frail Mary and they are playing
games live 7.15 p.m. Eastern. Tonight we made it open to the public. We're also posting them on
YouTube after the fact. So even if you're not a patron, you can watch.
what happened, but you can only play the games with us live on Wednesday night if you're a patron.
So check out Mike Bloom and Frale Mary on Wednesday nights.
And then, ooh, a special Halloween episode of the Traders New Blood.
Find out why there's a jack-o-lantern is a big part of, I guess it's October and spooky season.
Find out when Pooja and I talk about episode several of the Traders New Blood.
Rob, how is your birthday?
Oh, it was, you know, I had a nice weekend with my family prior.
And, you know, I had dinner with the family on Tuesday night.
But it wasn't that crazy.
It was a Tuesday.
Well, I mean, it was a very special Tuesday.
It was a special Tuesday.
And thanks to all, for all of the, I got many, many birthday wishes.
Yeah, you really get more birthday wishes.
I don't think I've seen anybody get as many birthday wishes as you get.
Listen, I appreciate them.
mall that it is, it's a lot to respond to. Yeah. So we had a, you know, nice, nice dinner. And then I still have
one, one other birthday night out, Friday night with the First Lady of Podcasting. I'm going to go see.
Ron Funches is going to be doing stand-up here in North Carolina. How fun. So that's going to be
my big plans for this, this Friday night. Also, check out that Taran Armstrong sat down with this guy,
Drew Campbell.
Do you remember him, Stephen?
I do remember him for like a three weeks ago.
So check out, Taryn, six hours with Drew Campbell.
Wow, six hours?
Yeah.
Wow.
It was like an 89-day show.
Yeah, I guess there's a lot to talk about it.
Okay.
All right.
And then anything else that we have coming up?
Or that's it.
All right.
And then, Stephen, you're fresh off of your time in Australia.
What was going on?
I was there.
to talk about escape the Australian edition.
I was at some book festivals and I spoke at the Wheeler Center on Melbourne.
It was lovely.
It was so cool.
It was just like tons of readers and Survivor fans and R-A-P people.
I also got to give my first ever, like I was part of a panel on speechwriting.
As you may know, I've been a steat writer.
I see a lot of Instagram posts about that.
I was kind of nervous because I don't, I've never like spoken about speech writing before.
I'm like pretty comfortable talking about Survivor or my book.
But it was great.
great panel and then, you know, someone generously asked me a question about survivor speeches.
So it was a perfect opportunity to talk about at the final travel council.
Yes.
Yes.
Like I talked about what made Sue Hawks speech such a great speech.
So it was very fun.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, Steven, it was great to be back here.
Moxie was the answer.
Moxie.
That's what you need for a final travel council?
Yeah.
Yeah.
But yeah, it was so fun to see you.
I know Omer did a great job.
People told me.
I'm going to do a great job.
Yeah, we did have.
I split it up where Omer.
Homer and I did a in-person recap of the episode,
and then we did the live show also in D.C.
Yeah, which I heard was fantastic.
Double duty I got to catch up with.
We had a ton of the survivors in town
because we did the Ramble Battle Royale on Thursday.
Very fun.
Then we need you in the next one.
Yeah.
All right.
Thank you so much for joining us for Survivor No, It all is back again.
Big Thursday coming up.
looking forward to talking much more about everything from this week.
Take care everybody.
Have a good one.
Bye.
