The Know-It-Alls, Rob Cesternino and Stephen Fishbach, are to...gether live in Los Angeles to recap the jam-packed two-hour season premiere. Right from the first moments off the boat, Survivor 51 shakes up tradition with 21 castaways, a One World scramble, and an unpredictable tribe formation. Forget mud, forget forced narratives, this season sets players loose, giving them more agency and bigger tribes, leading to an early Tribal Council that leaves everyone talking. Rob and Stephen break down the premiere’s biggest moments, like the show’s return to 10-person tribes and how that changed both strategy and social dynamics. The duo call out the pivotal first Tribal Council, where the vote could have gone anywhere and the Shot in the Dark raises the stakes with double plays. They examine the challenge-based reasoning behind the first boot, the impact of fresh gameplay with agency over “beware” advantages, and the new twist of the prize pot potentially growing season after season. Game-changing moves, like the water cooler info drop that saved Jenna, and bold personalities, from Pantsless Patt to Rhode Island Rob, set the tone for what might be Survivor’s most open field yet. Highlights from the episode include: – The live, unpredictable first Tribal Council and double Shot in the Dark play – The return of 10-person tribes, reviving old-school challenge and alliance dynamics – Kristen’s strong showing in tribe negotiations, and the memorable thumb war showdown – The lasagna alliance and quirky cast intros that add fun to the game – Smart analysis of early challenge performance influencing strategy and the Aaliyah vs. Jenna debate – Discussion about the new idol rules, progressive jackpot, and the shifting meaning of tribe strength With twists both classic and new, and players adapting on the fly, Survivor 51’s Open Era is off to a raucous start. When the game at all?
It's the open era.
We are live here tonight, ding.
Through the magic of AI, it looks like I'm sitting.
No, no, no, no, no.
No AI, baby.
Stephen and I are together here live in Los Angeles.
And so we said, why don't we get together in person and do the podcast?
That'll be fun, a fun way to kick off the open era.
It won't be like this every week.
But we are together and in person and ready to talk about two hours of Survivors.
Stephen, how are you?
I'm great.
Each week that we podcast, it could be any of the previous formats for our podcast.
So you never know what you're going to get.
Just because we're together today.
You know, next week we might be a part.
In the third week, there might be a live show.
You just don't know.
You never know.
And, of course, we got to watch the season premiere, Survivor 51.
A lot to talk about here in the open era and a lot to do here.
and it's so fun to be here with you in person.
I know, this is thrilling.
It's like, you know, but if it gets heated, it might be uncomfortable.
Yeah.
Like, it's like, you know, strong disagreements.
We're here and we're going to go.
I like the wide shot.
Let's stay on the wide shot for most of the show.
I think that unless Stephen's making like a really great point,
then let's go all in on Stephen.
But we'll see if that happens tonight.
Maybe certainly for the fishing.
Yeah.
All right.
So we are streaming live, live live here tonight to talk about everything from Survivor 51.
one's premiere. We'll get into all of that. An exit interview is on the docket with Alia tomorrow.
I will talk with her. Find out everything that she had to say. And then I will also be getting
together tomorrow in person. I'm making the most of this trip to L.A. Tiffany Nicole Irvin and I are
going to get together in person for our podcast coming up on Thursday. That's so fun. Yeah. And of course,
if you're joining us live here, stay tuned for a big brother recap also here Wednesday night on RHAP.
It's all happening. What's happening with Rick?
We could talk about Rick Devons later in the show, but tune in tomorrow night for tomorrow
night, the Big Brother recap for that.
Okay.
This was an amazing episode of Survivor.
I'm very excited about the open era.
I come in every season, very excited, but like I thought that this open era, I was a little nervous.
You know, I thought it was going to be like just like more twists, more crazy stuff,
like more off the wall.
But I felt like this actually like solves so many of the things that we've been talking about
in a way that was so exciting and fresh and dynamic.
You know, so like no birthing, nobody was covered in mud.
Like, that's a real success for this premiere.
Jeff did say that they were birthing the open era.
They birthed the era.
They did birth the era.
Nothing was covered in mud.
That's the thing that I'm most excited about.
Yeah, I really, I enjoyed the season premiere a lot.
I actually was at a screening on Saturday.
They did a big Survivor event, a kickoff event in New Jersey.
So I did get to see this on Saturday.
So I might be a little biased because I watch it in a room full of people that were super excited.
And it was a really fun event.
But I came away from it, like really enjoying it.
I thought it did feel very fresh.
I think that you and I talked a lot about in the 40s, that the new era started to feel not so new as we were going into season 47, 48, 49.
It's three tribes.
You get a group of four.
You know, it was very similar.
This did feel very fresh.
We don't know where it's going.
I don't know if we will ultimately come to say like, okay, we're sick of permanent uncertainty.
but it does seem like that they're bringing back a lot of things that we have liked before in the past.
So I do like that.
I think that my default would be like a little bit more of like, okay, let's just like back off and let the players just play a little bit more.
But I do feel like that we have had an improvement from the new era.
See, I actually think that was a strength of this premiere.
It was that they did let the players play.
Not everything was forced.
And they're giving the players a lot of choices, right?
Like who's going to go on the journey, an immediate choice?
Who is going to negotiate for supplies?
An immediate choice.
I feel like they're putting so much agency into the players themselves.
And then also, you know, it's not like every twist is turned to 11, which again was my fear of the open era.
You have an idol.
It's just a normal idol.
There's no beware advantage.
There's no steps.
The twist is it's back to how it was.
It's just like a normal idol in the sand.
And maybe next episode there will be the beware advantage.
But like I like that some of it, some of what they're bringing back is the simple.
of older eras. Yeah, I thought that even the opening of the show where Jeff came to them,
Jeff did his spiel on the ship, then they got off. And then we were like right into it where I feel
like a lot of these seasons throughout the 40s, we spend a lot of time. They're on the boat.
They're telling us about themselves. They get there. They get to the beach. Jeff pretends he doesn't
know who they are. He's asking them, why do you want to be there? Why do you want to be there?
And we do that like over and over and over. And then we have a challenge to win sometimes
nothing. Yeah. I don't even know what they win. And it's like, you know, 35 minutes before we get into,
okay, we're on the beach. And this was like much quicker. I like that they didn't know what was going on.
It was fun to have everybody on the beach. I think even as we get into later on in the season,
whether there's tribe swaps, whether there's a merge or of course it'll be emerged, but like when we
get to the merge, that there will be relationships that, okay, these people have kind of already met.
They kind of already interacted. And I think that that's going to pay dividends down the road. So I thought
was a very fun start to the beginning of the season. But let's go to the end of the episode
and talk about tribal council. And I think that this might have been the wildest first tribal
council. I think that I'm sure that the, you know, people will have their picks for what the
craziest first tribal council is, maybe a good video to do. This might have been it where we had
a live tribal council unfold a very few times in the history of the show that we had that.
I don't know if the votes changed at the tribal council.
What's your thought on that?
Did the vote change from Alia to from Jenna to Alia there?
I don't think so.
My guess is that they went in with the, with the Alia vote already planned.
I mean, it seemed like the people who were going to vote for Jenna.
They voted for Jenna anyway.
I thought this was so fun, though.
the fact, you know, you had this great conversation between Devin and Brady saying, like,
we have opposite opinions.
We totally disagree.
It's like us.
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
And yet we're going to be friends tomorrow, you know?
Not like us.
No, that's just like us as well.
No, is that like, and they, we're all going to vote differently.
Like, that has never happened before, right?
I mean, never is always a strong word.
That's rarely, if ever happened before in Survivor, where these two groups come together.
They completely vote against each other at tribal council.
And then they're okay with that.
Like, it doesn't affect our relationship.
We can still move forward in this game together.
I mean, I guess there's some relationship there with, like, the idea of voting blocks.
I'm not, but, like, I felt this was different, right?
That this was, like, more, you know, I've got my alliance.
I'm going to stick with them for this, for this vote, but that doesn't affect, like,
our relationship moving forward.
If Survivor could bottle this and, like, I think it could totally open up the game.
You know, the fact that for most tribal councils, and especially early tribal councils,
players come in thinking they have to have all the votes lined up.
There's tremendous pressure to all be on the same page.
And that's why this was an exciting tribal, right?
Most early tribals are a unanimous vote because there's this social pressure to conform.
And the fact that these groups saw that they could vote differently and each vote their own way.
And yet still have the sense of what we can continue working together tomorrow is very exciting.
Here's my question.
Maybe you can help me figure this out in terms of how this all played out.
So we saw everybody in the tribe.
It was all going to be a steamroll against Jenna.
Jenna does well in the puzzle.
Alia struggles in the challenge.
Alia and Jenna talk.
And then Alia mentions that the guys were talking about how that Jenna was on the bottom.
She was going to go out.
Pat fills her in on that.
And so, and Alia had been complaining about Brady.
And so Jenna goes to Brady and says, hey, by the way, Alia was complaining about you.
and he is incensed.
How could you be talking about me?
I didn't even care they were doing bad in the challenge,
but you had my name in your mouth.
So that's it.
I was surprised that Brady was the person who won the day
and got the support where we see a few people talking about,
boy, Devin is a little bit like we kind of see what he's doing.
You had a confessional where Tanan was talking about.
Like he's gaming really hard.
But it seemed like that.
Devin had like a pretty solid hold of the tribe. And Brady, it seemed like did not. I was surprised
that there was so much support for what Brady wanted to do. Maybe Jenna is helping with that
support. Mike is somebody I want to talk about because it seemed like that he was also on board
on that. But do you have a sense of how did Brady get seven people voting with him?
I think it's two things. And I think just simply how inflexible he was, I think probably was part of
I think probably there was a sense of like consensus.
There's that great back and forth.
There's like, like, how much does this mean?
Who asks something?
Kilby.
Kilby, how much does this mean?
He says, everything.
Yeah.
It's like the opposite of Thanos of like, what did it cost?
Everything.
But like, you know, if someone is being that absolute this early, I think you don't want to
piss them off.
And I think, you know, obviously Devin wanted to stick with his friend and his ally.
But do you think did Dev, oh, Dev seems like he's a cool guy.
he's not going to be mad if I don't go with him.
Meanwhile, Brady, he could be a maniac.
And if we don't give him what he wants, I could be next.
I think that's exactly.
I think he was more scary than Devin was.
And there probably was some element.
You know, we see Devin and Jelly and Alia go off and say, like, we are the three that are running this tribe.
I mean, already, you know, such a shift from the six-person tribe to the 10-person tribe, right?
Because if you've just been watching the new era of Survivor, you think, I've got my
three, I'm solid here, but that does not work in a 10 person tribe.
You know, three, not a majority of a 10 person group, but also just like so hard to get like
a tight group together in a 10 person group.
And I bet that that hurt them.
Maybe other people felt like I'm just being told, you know, from Devin, he's like got this
campaign against Jenna.
And I can see that there's already this little group forming and they seem to be running
things.
And I don't like that.
I felt like Maggie was maybe a little more sympathetic to Jenna.
I mean, we certainly saw Pat was obviously on Jenna's side.
So I kind of thought Brady maybe gave the people who didn't want to vote Jenna out and opening not to do so.
Well, the open era has felt more like old school survivor.
And maybe in like a very old school survivor way, it did seem like that the challenge performance did have a lot to do with things where I think that when it was a toss up between Jenna and Alia, it was like, well, Jenna's good in the challenges.
Alia struggled in the challenge, and we can't get rid of Brady because we need him in the challenge.
And I thought it would be the opposite to come in with 10-person tribes, that we've been so used to the six-person tribes,
hey, you can't lose your big, strong guy early on.
You're going to be a disaster tribe if you don't have that person.
I kind of thought that maybe the onus would not be as much on challenge performance in a 10-person tribe.
And it seemed like that this group did care about that.
Although weirdly, I think in the six-person tribes,
people do feel like they can lose their strongest person because they've got the, like,
once you've got your three or your four, you've got the chokehold on the numbers.
Yeah.
If you've got your three, yeah, okay, I'll lose our strongest guy because, like, I know that
I'm still going to be okay, even if we lose another challenge and another challenge.
And I think here with that 10 person group, maybe there's more of this feeling of we have to win
this challenge because I don't know where I stand tomorrow.
Yeah.
And I have to say to the powers that be with Survivor, thank you for a 10 person tribe.
We're so happy because the six.
person tribes. Yeah, we get it. It's dangerous fun. There's nowhere to hide. But there's so much more
to talk about and think about. And there's so many like there's not like it's so not just like an A or B
decision of it. It's either this person or this person. Like there's, you know, eight different things
that could happen based off of this. And there's so much room for the players to play. And I'm just so
excited to be able to, and now I hope like, okay, next week, we're going to switch it up.
And now it's five tribes of four.
But I'm really enjoying having a group of 10 to talk about.
Yeah.
And, you know, there was a period in the 20s when the 10 person tribe became very stale, right?
Like every season people have figured it out, okay, day one, we get our five and then we sort
of like go down the line.
But I don't think that is going to happen as much anymore because of, you know, back then,
like people were not playing as aggressively.
they were not as game savvy as they are today.
They were not playing as aggressively and self-interestedly as they are today.
I think today's players, like, you cannot like count on that five sticking together for a long period of time as much.
Yeah, that's such a good point.
Like the players, I think are so smart.
And I think that even if you just like did not, and I know we're going to have a vote on should we have advantages, I don't think that you need as many twists because the players are so aggressive and do want to play and do want to play.
So I think that giving them the room and the rope to be able to play the type of game they want to play,
I think will give interesting tribal council results in a big group.
But I guess we'll have to wait and see on this.
But for Alia, I do feel very bad.
I feel like that she, like, really did not do a lot wrong here.
And she did not even seem to realize that she was on the chopping block.
And I thought was, am I wrong that Jelly was the first person to bring up Brady's name?
I could be wrong about that.
But, I mean, it may.
So in the water, I think there were four women that were there.
I think it was Pat, it was Pat, Jenna, Jelly, and Alia.
And I think this might have been in confessional that Jelly was saying that, hey, I don't want a woman to go home first.
And so there was some talk about now, obviously, she's an ally with Dev.
And so I think that she was maybe open-minded about taking Brady out of the tribe.
And so I'd have to go back and watch that conversation to see exactly how that comes up.
But I know that there was some talk about, hey, a woman shouldn't go home.
Yeah, and it made sense for Jenna to sort of target Alia versus Jelly because Alia had performed much worse, like notably worse than the challenge.
So I thought Jenna played that very well.
She, you know, took this information, this gift, took it right over to Brady and then like let him run with it.
She didn't like oversell it.
I just like, oh, yeah, I don't know what it was about, but I just heard it all saying your name.
You know, I thought it was really elegantly.
I thought that the Jenna story was very fun where she starts off and she's in the water with everybody and they're talking about themselves.
and she's like,
I don't have that much more to say about myself.
And everybody's like,
red flag,
this is shady,
she's not telling us a lot about herself,
and now she's a fake wedding photographer.
It was a big jump from like,
she's clearly holding something back
to like everything she's saying is a lie.
Yeah,
but it was a good read
that she did have this part of herself,
and we always see on these shows
that, you know,
like we talk about this all the time about,
like we talk about it when we have people
who lie about their jobs.
And you say like, okay, well,
you have this whole part of your personality
that you can't show people like Nate in Survivor 49
who didn't want to tell people about his job
that he worked at, you know, making film.
And he was worried people are going to think,
okay, I have money.
But he didn't get to tell any of his cool stories that he had.
And so part of his personality got cut off.
And it's like, okay, she's hiding something.
But the thing that she's hiding was like
that she's going through something.
Yeah.
And I understand not wanting to share that out of the gate with people you've just met,
both because it's a very vulnerable, personal thing.
And because, like, you know, you don't want to suddenly, like, be crying, like, right
when you've met people, like, that could create a target on her too.
Yeah.
But, you know, a tough situation.
I was hoping for a tribal council that there was going to be the moment where that they
were talking about, like, Kilby was even talking about how she's not sharing things about
herself.
And I just wanted her to say, hey, I just got divorced.
A whole, okay?
I'm going through a divorce.
Now, if you suspected...
I'd be like, oh my God, we are so sorry about that.
Yeah, but we've got to vote her out
because otherwise it's uncomfortable.
It's socially awkward if we keep it around
after having been so rude.
If you suspected someone was not a real wedding photographer,
how would you find that out?
Like, the shot list question was very interesting.
Should a wedding photographer have a shot list?
I guess my question is, why do I need to find that out?
Yeah.
If, if, like, is this a pertinent piece of information?
It's like, do I don't care.
Like, me, like, okay, maybe, let me keep an eye on her.
Yeah.
But I feel like that I'm just going to sour my relationship with her trying to get to the bottom of something for that, like, is really such a nothing burger.
Yeah.
I do think contestants come in so excited to, like, be doing this sort of like sniffing out lies.
And, you know, it's a sort of almost the opposite of what we talk about with people.
lying saying they're so excited to come into the game and lie, that they make up these ridiculous
lies that they don't need to, like, about their careers. And in this case, it's sort of the
opposite of that. Like, I'm so excited to find someone out in a lie that I'm, like, suspecting
everything that's being said. And she might be, like, one of, like, three people that's not lying
about their job. Exactly. Exactly. Like, like, Dev, it was like a good call. It just, you just
happened to get the wrong person. Yeah. But I think she's somebody who, like, could be one of these
characters, like, an Emily Flippin, who, like, starts off on the wrong foot. But maybe, you just
maybe for Jenna, this is like the start of her rise now.
Yeah.
Well, I listen, out of the gate, I do want to, well, I won't spoil it.
So, but I do, I did not think Jenna did that great at tribal council.
I did not think she did such a great job of defending herself.
I thought that, you know, Devin is saying all of these things that are like saying, you're
holding something back.
We're not getting a good read on you.
You know, that's why I'm targeting you tonight.
And Jenna's like, well, I'm not going to say something to give you permission.
I'm not just going to, she wasn't like fighting for herself.
Maybe she knew at that point that she wasn't going home so she didn't feel like she
She played her shot in the dark.
She'd.
player shot in the dark.
Double shot in the dark there.
That was fun.
That was fun.
I really did think that a shot in the dark was going to hit.
I thought Elias was good.
I mean, the fact, too, that like, I thought like, when Jeff said, like, oh, no, we're
going to do this individually.
I thought one of these has got a hit.
Yeah.
I mean, not that he necessarily knows.
To us to the edit.
Yeah.
They made a meal of it.
And I'm like, okay, all right.
I think we know where this is going.
But I thought it would be fun to have both of them up.
If one of them did hit, you get like, one's, like, you know, joyous, you know, joyous response while
while the other is, like, miserable.
but I really thought
Alias was going to hit
they did a great job with that
I truly had no idea
who was going to go home
and ultimately neither of them did
well Alia
yeah
Alia went home
a shot in the dark
it didn't hit
but I really
I'm curious
I really want to go back
and rewatch the live
tribal council again
and see what was going on

Somebody who I have my eye on is Mike in that tribe.
It seems like that he is doing a really good,
somebody who is lying about his job and does not tell people that he is a baseball executive
and works for the Yankees.
And we're not going to hold that against him.
But he is somebody who seems like he's really sharp.
He seems like he's been like in the middle of it and is playing like a very good like under
the radar game so far.
Yeah.
I really liked him.
I mean, as I've told you, I really like him.
I know him.
I played Blood on the Clock Tower with him.
Yeah, talk a little bit about Kilby, who had a very fun start.
He is an extremely chaotic, crazy, very fun Blood on the Clock Tower player.
As you all know, Blood on the Clock Tower is a social strategy game that is really complex.
Kilby is just absolute chaos at it, but in a way that's sort of like big brain chaos,
where he's like doing 10 different things and somehow he's able to like pull it all off and like make magic happen.
But I'm really hopeful that, you know, that he's able to kind of.
like do some crazy moves this season of Survivor.
Yeah.
I'm just trying to stay with that particular tribe.
You got Maggie over there.
Maggie, Panceless Pat.
Pantsless Pat.
Tannas.
That's a really great way for her.
I mean, now I remember her name just as Pants to Pat.
Did she get the pants back?
It doesn't look like it.
She was wearing shorts at one point.
But I don't know, like, in terms of the open era, how much clothes they get.
New era, they got a lot of clothes.
Classic era, they had like very few clothes.
So maybe they'd like change the night.
clothes available.
It seemed like that then they got their backpacks at some point.
Yeah.
So I got to get some kind of cover.
Yeah.
I feel like that pantsless pat was too good.
But I suspect that there was a resolution to her story that we just didn't see.
Did she take her pants off to swim when they jumped off the boat?
I guess so.
Yeah.
I guess that must have been.
Wanted to keep them dry?
I don't know.
I think that she.
Read about the drag maybe?
Maybe it's hard to swim in jeans.
I'm not sure.
Sure.
I get jeans wet.
But, you know, yeah.
Better than losing it.
And then we mentioned Dev, but I think it's worth note.
that I think that Dev has been such a fun narrator of the season.
He saw that I was a little worried that the vote was going to turn back around on death.
Right, because he was so vocal in that tribal council.
Yeah. I'm sticking with my group.
Yeah.
How are you feeling about Brady?
I mean, I don't think he's necessarily going to win, but I mean, he's a interesting character.
He's a big character.
I mean, he's interesting because he's very, I mean, he's kind of that character that we've, I've said we've wanted in the past.
Yeah.
Like, you know, he's, he's hot-headed, right?
at times, that's fun, but also, like, kind and thoughtful.
Like, the fact that he is hot-headed, like, forces other people to play around him.
I mean, it's something I liked about David and Survivor 49 was that he would be very dogged and, like,
not necessarily, like, super strategic all the time.
Yeah.
And I think that's, like, interesting because it creates, it makes, it's like hurdles for
the more strategic players.
I mean, you saw Kilby, you could see on his face.
Like, what do I do?
Like, you know, Brady is not making a strategic choice here.
Like, how do I, like, play this game when this person is.
doing something that's so motivated just by like passion.
Yeah, he's an interesting person to have in the season.
He's a wrestler.
And, you know, we have people like John Hanigan who come into the show.
And I think he wants to be also larger than life.
Right.
And I think he's not afraid of the smoke.
He's not afraid of creating some drama in the season.
And I think that he is going to be like where we, Jeff has said,
we're not going to get villains.
But I think that this is like as close as we get on Survivor.
Right. And we'll talk about Rhode Island Rob.
Oh, yeah. I think he's from Johnston, like Johnston Rob. I mean, he said something else, but I saw on his bio like, you know, Johnston. So Johnston Rob is okay.
Yeah.
Sort of. You know, before we talk about the other tribe, let's talk a little bit about the opening.
And there was a lot here in terms of how we started the show. We kicked them all off the boat and went into like kind of a little bit of one world.
Yep. Scramble for supply.
and then suddenly they're on the beach.
And what I loved about that was,
I didn't know what was going to happen.
You know, even with one world,
I think we knew in advance,
like, oh, they're all living on the beach together.
It was fun as a viewer not having a clue.
Like, I don't know.
Are they going to split into tribes?
Are they going to pick their own tribes?
And, like, finding it out with them, basically.
You know, I think that's, like, a nice element of, like,
dramatic suspense where we don't know what's going to happen.
So 21 players, we are saying,
how are they going to do this?
They end up, I think it's actually a Leah,
who says there's a note, and the note says,
okay, pick one person to go off and leave.
And there's no volunteers until Lewis.
Yes.
Volunteers.
What do you think about Lewis?
I like Lewis.
I mean, bold, I mean, first of all, the Irish accent, of course, extremely charming.
Yeah.
It's wonderful to have, like, you know, an accent, you know, on this.
Yeah. Shades of Mora Higgins.
Yeah.
And then, yeah, I thought it was a fun segment.
I mean, we'll talk about his second.
soon. But bold, I guess, I don't think he thought he was going to immediately be the one to go.
It sounds like he thought he would volunteer than a few other people would have the courage to
volunteer. Yeah, I thought it was hilarious that he raised his hand and then everybody's like,
okay, your funeral. But they were like, yeah, Lewis. Yeah, let's give it up for Lewis, everybody.
Yeah. Our hero. Right. Well, it's, you know, it's smart now. I mean, it used to, right, early 40s,
everyone would volunteer for these journeys. And then you certainly saw by the late 40s.
It was often a terrible idea. You'd lose your vote. Something bad would happen.
to you. I actually kind of like the simplicity of what happened. He went to exile. You know,
there was a challenge. And he failed at the challenge and that was it. Like, that was in, that was
by the way, like this is a guy who literally talked about chopping down a Christmas tree and he
still failed at the chopping challenge. Who is succeeding at the chopping challenge?
If the guy who knows how to chop can't do the chopping challenge, can anyone succeed at that?
Yeah. I mean, it's interesting. Would the challenge have been the same no matter, you know,
who it was, like, if...
Tanan is there, like, she's there, she's getting the shopping challenge?
I mean, that would be, I think that people would be, like, a little bit, like, really?
This is the, this is what the challenge is.
Yeah, it's crazy, though, but, like, I mean...
It might be just, like, you know, an Emily Flippin type situation where she goes on the journey.
It's like, I'm not doing this.
Yeah, right, exactly.
Like, fine.
Maybe he should, maybe it's a bigger hour.
I mean, there was no penalty for not going for the idol.
Right.
Like, it wasn't, it was, and I'll say again, kudos to the producers of, it's not like, okay,
and now you're going to lose your vote at the next tribal council.
And correct me if I'm wrong.
It was just, hey, you can do this.
You can get that idol.
You may need it when you come back, but if not, you're fine.
Yeah, right.
That's exactly right, which I liked.
It was like a challenge.
You could go for it.
I mean, the danger, of course, on these journeys is that everyone assumes you have something.
And so there's tremendous pressure to have something.
And, you know, I think coming back, I certainly would feel the pressure to play an idol
or at least threaten playing an idol.
I think I would have liked this a little bit more.
And it was very dramatic.
poor Lewis, if it was that, hey, you can get the thing off the tree any way you want.
Yeah.
But then it's a lot.
Then he just climbs up.
I mean, it wasn't that high or he like throws something at it.
I just like, he literally chops trees.
He's a farmer who knows how to chop a tree and he can't chop this.
Like, there's nobody who could succeed at this.
Yeah.
I'm sure somebody could have.
Who you know, like, you know, a Brady, a Jonathan, like something.
So, you know, I was a wrestler.
He's not necessarily a tree dropper.
You know, he's a farmer.
You're saying that Lewis has like this great skill of being a tree chopper.
It's not like.
Chop a tree.
Yeah.
It's not strength.
I mean, there's strength.
There's precision.
You know, you got to be precise.
I don't know.
I feel like at some point you should have started going the other way.
I don't think that's how that works.
Doesn't how it works?
I don't know.
I've got no extra.
I would not.
We'd be the worst to people to be cutting down the trees.
Don't call us to chop down your tree.
Let's talk about the negotiation.
Yeah.
Okay.
I listen, no fight for supplies.
A good job, although I have to say the one in Survivor 50 was actually good with Q and Ozzy and coach.
Yeah.
But all right, negotiate for supplies.
How are you feeling?
First of all, I really liked that there were so many decisions that went into this.
Decision of who's going to negotiate, then the negotiation itself.
It was really interesting because my opinion on how the negotiation went changed as the episode went on.
Yes.
So the four items that were up were the pot and the Flint.
Which immediately you're thinking, like, that's the most valuable one.
Right.
The pot, you know, to boil water.
That's the flint to, like, make fire.
Like, that's the most important thing.
Then we have the fishing supplies.
I immediately thought, least important thing.
Nobody ever is able to make a meal out of fishing supplies.
Then you have the shelter.
Yeah.
Shelter supplies and camp supplies.
Which I didn't totally understand the difference.
Yeah.
So I think that, so if I had to guess, or I think it was a building supply.
Yeah.
Shelter supplies and buildings.
So that's building supplies is probably like a stalk.
And then the shelter supplies is probably the tarp.
Right.
And so it seemed like that the story we got was that, you know, Kristen owned.
And like, I think that that is like undeatable.
Like the Kristen owned Kilby in the negotiation.
I know.
So I'm, that was the story I came away with.
But I'm not sure that.
But I think that Kristen did not necessarily get the best thing.
Right.
Like he won the negotiations, but may have lost the war because I hear you.
I'm like, okay, pot, flint, machete.
Okay, yeah, that's actually what you knew.
Was it a machete also?
I think so, yeah.
Chetty is important.
But the machete might be the most important.
But like thinking back to it, like, okay, it's not, you know, the single digies, okay, you are going to get a flint if you win the challenge.
From what I understand.
Right.
Right.
And you don't have to boil the water.
The water is fine to drink.
There's no food.
What do I need a pot for?
So, yeah, I guess the flint is important for, you know,
okay, we want to have a fire to stay warm.
But really, I think that the tarp is the number one thing that you need.
Yeah, I agree.
Tarp.
And then the other thing is, like, they, the Yellow Tribe got the pot and the Flint and the, right,
and the machete.
It was like just after tribal council.
So it's only because they won the challenge.
No, well, after tribal, yellow, right?
Yellow went to tribal council.
And then after tribal council.
Jeff said here's the thing?
Yeah, didn't he say like, okay, you get your Flint and your...
I missed to miss that.
Yeah, I think he said...
Was that a new era thing only of like, I'll keep you, sorry for you, I keep your Flint?
Am I wrong?
I feel like Jeff said like...
We'll watch it again.
Yeah.
I feel...
You know, I can see the chat, but it's very far away.
Sorry to say.
Go up to the chat to see it.
Yeah.
I think he said like, well, you get your...
You get your Flint, you know, and they were celebrating over that.
Like, so like, basically, that's something that they didn't have for three days.
What do you think about that with the, uh, for the tribe that lost, uh, or the tribe that won, the flag went up and it said, sorry.
Sorry for you.
Now, is that because Jeff's not saying sorry for you anymore because he's not taking away their Flint?
Oh, that's interesting.
Or just put it into the sign.
Can't lose.
And it was in yellow's color, too, which was very funny.
Rather than purple's flag going up, yellow's like.
But I mean, and then, um, they were both really thought the fishing support.
were useful. Again, like, I don't know if that's true. Eric caught a fish, Stephen.
That was quite a fish. Okay. Let's talk about what was going on on the other tribe. And I'm sorry, I don't know the tribe names yet. Do you have them?
No. One sounded like survive, but you think yellow was like savvy? Yeah. Okay. We'll get it eventually. There's a yellow tribe and there's a purple tribe. I think this is the purple tribe that we're talking about here. This is the purple tribe. So let's talk about Rhode Island Rob. Yeah.
Um, very fun character.
Uh, first they have the Rhode Island Alliance with Eric and that really goes by the wayside.
Then Rob decides there can only be one.
This only one?
Yeah.
Listen, that's how these robs are.
Okay.
I can only be the one.
You know, it's crazy.
There were three contestants from Rhode Island at the start of this season.
And now I think what wasn't, wasn't Alia from Providence?
Yes.
Yeah.
Um, she's from Providence.
Over represent.
Yeah, crazy Rhode Island representation.
Um, but now already one of them is gone.
And the other is potentially gone next.
Yeah. Okay. So there was a lot with this tribe in terms of what was going on with Rob and with Eric and all of that. Eric got a lot of screen time tonight. It did seem like Eric was going to be the person like Jenna who, if this tribe went to a tribal council, Eric seemed like he was done.
Yeah. Yeah. It sure looked that way. It's he got a whole little montage of people. He had like the symbol crashes of like people are mad at Eric or not mad at him, but they find him a little bit, you know,
maybe don't love his stories as much as others in his life love them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He can bounce back from this.
Yes.
We've seen many have many survivors.
They get off to a rough start.
Baby Andy comes to mind.
And they can get out of this.
But also, you do have Rob here, who now with Carter is trying to bury Eric.
Yes.
Even to the point of making up lies about him about, like, where's Eric?
You know, it must be off looking for Idol.
very, very devious.
Yeah.
Rhode Island Rob, I think, is going to be a very polarizing character on the show.
I think that there are going to be people that they are going to love him.
They're going to be people that he's going to be their favorite character on the show.
Yeah.
It's going to be people that want to love to hate him.
Yes.
And I think that's good.
Yeah, no, very fun.
And in general, I think the casting so far has seemed great because we have a bunch of those people.
I mean, we were tackling that with Brady polarizing.
you know, Rhode Island Rob, you know, for sure, polarizing.
So I feel like having these characters who maybe are not villains, but are like big personalities,
who told the line between.
And I didn't feel like Rhode Island Rob was necessarily playing a part, right?
Like, I didn't feel like he was a wrestler.
There was no K-Fabe here, right?
It was just like, this is sort of the game he's playing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that he was, like, authentically being himself.
Yeah.
And I think that he did seem, though, that he just took to the game like that.
Yes, exactly.
Like, very quick.
It was clearly having some fun with it.
Like, yeah, I'm going to pay a target.
Maybe I'm lying.
But, like, that's the way it's going to be.
I like that.
Yeah.
Okay.
So this is a tribe that would pick Kristen to be the captain.
And Kristen, I thought, really just took to the Survivor game extremely well.
Super fan, Kristen, who when she was asked in their interviews, you know, who was on the Mount Rushmore of Survivor.
She said rankings are arbitrary and reductive.
Yes.
So, you know, God bless.
I'm rooting for you.
Coudos to Kristen.
Who comes in, you know, Super.
prepared, ready to go, like knows everything you're supposed to be doing.
Yeah.
And I think is going to be really fun.
We did not see any interaction between her and Rhode Island Robb yet.
I'm waiting to see that.
The one alliance that we saw her with Sharonda.
Yeah.
And that was fun.
They just like right out of the gate seemed to have some connection.
And I'm, I'm, you know, Sharonda's connected to Ori.
And so it feels like there could be, you know, a good little anchor or a good little
chain for Kristen. Yeah. So just to go back to the one world section of the show, we didn't see
too many people coming together other than we, you know, Rob, we saw Rob and Eric talk about Rhode Island,
but we did see in some order, Sharonda talked with Jelly, who then found Ori and then they talked to
Alia and eventually to Dev, and it seemed like they called us the Helicopter Alliance.
Do you think that this is a story moving forward?
It just seems like it was the one alliance name we got it.
We got it about three or four times.
There was a whole...
A rare named alliance.
It's not like the One World Five.
What does the helicopter mean?
They're just like...
They saw the helicopter.
And they were the ones that saw the crate, I guess.
What about the Lazzania Alliance?
Well, the Lazzania Alliance was very...
really, and that was such a great scene in the episode, that that was Jelly and Ori.
Yeah.
Great scene.
So fun.
I mean, what are you on lasagna?
I am not a huge fan of lasagna.
It's very heavy.
It is very heavy.
Yeah.
It's like a very, you know, yeah, I like a lighter meal.
Too hardy.
Yeah, a little bit too hardy.
I like a lighter meal.
But very fun scene.
Funny that we only got Jelly's comment.
We didn't get Ori commenting on the lasagna.
I didn't say he wanted to eat the lasagna.
We just said, you know, Jelly saying she was going to serve up a lasagna.
Yeah, he did say he loves lasagna, so.
But not in confessional.
He said it in scene.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, we didn't get to he truly loves lasagna.
We don't know yet.
Yeah.
Ori's other big moment in the episode came, he had like the really big like pump-up
speech.
Oh, that was a great speech.
Yeah.
What is what is what is what is what is what is what is that about?
So, uh, that.
Jeff asked who is permanent uncertainty serve or something.
Yeah.
And he said that basically like, hey, like when you're an athlete, when it's your turn, when it's
your time to shine and you go.
You go and you make the play and you know, you can't be afraid of the moment.
Yeah.
Like, yes, that's exactly it.
Even got like the swelling orchestral score.
It was lovely.
Yeah.
So, yeah, the Ori's big moments of the night.
But we do lose Oliah from the helicopter alliance.
Yes.
Which all, you know, honestly, like five was a lot.
So it's not crazy to lose someone, you know, so soon.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
On that tribe also, we had Anna, I thought also.
So it was shown as a narrator a lot.
We got Anna's perspective of, okay, we have, you know,
we have this person.
She talked about-
Prince Charming.
You know, Ori's Prince Charming.
She talked about Christian was kind of like a little bit of the nerd.
Yeah.
She said that Alexis was the princess.
Yeah, someone was like the fairy.
Yeah, Alexis.
Alexis was the fairy.
Yeah.
And so we'll see if any of the, if she's a reliable narrator.
Yeah.
Exactly.
I think they just like that she could do all those voices.
Yeah.
But she's actually in an interesting spot.
So we saw where Rob and Carter, they're a good duo.
Yeah.
And they're together.
They both don't like Eric.
A lot of farmers, by the way.
Speaking of like overrepresented people, like so many farmers.
So many farmers.
So I went to this event at the American Dream Mall on Saturday.
And they did a screening of Survivor 51.
and I got the chance to sit down.
I talked to Jeff.
I interviewed Jeff in front of the audience.
And we were talking about season 51.
You can go and check that out.
It's on the RHAP YouTube channel.
I asked Jeff about this.
I said, Jeff, there's three farmers on this season.
Was that something that was intentional
that you were trying to in the new era?
It was more about the people who,
because sometimes I talk to people,
especially when they're like fans
who are not super.
online. One of the things that they often will tell me is that I want to see them getting food.
They really seem to want to see more about the survival elements. And I thought that maybe that was
something that the show was going for. Jeff said, no, it was just a coincidence. It was just that we found
the people that we wanted to see on the show. It had nothing that that was not an intentional thing.
Wow. That they ended up with three farmers. Because I said that there were not a lot of other farmers
in the new era. Yeah. I mean, truly, I mean, I just thought like, you know, they were trying to get more
of a range of professions because one of the criticisms of the new era was that like every it felt like
a lot of the contestants were all sort of you know social media marketing managers and so like to get like
more like young professional yeah exactly um so to have like a more of a range of professions i thought
was a goal well whether or not it was an intentional goal it seems to have succeeded yeah

You're richer than you think.
Who else caught your attention on this tribe?
Yeah, I mean, we had that Rob Carter-Anna.
Ori Sharana Christian, Eric.
But, you know, just on Anna with Robin Carter,
that seems like a little bit of a weird fit with those two.
Yeah, it's like, and how do that even come about?
I think, like, who, like, Rob was Holder in?
I want to say it was Carter who suggested her,
but it did seem like that it was just like kind of a random pick.
Yeah.
We didn't really get a lot from Lanaya, Alexis, or Christian.
So, I mean, honestly, like,
those are the ones we really saw them.
most of. But I thought the episode did a fantastic job overall of giving us a little bit of everybody.
Yeah. You know, I forgot to mention earlier in the show, I want to take questions from the audience.
So if you've got questions for the know-it-alls, we are live tonight. We can go ahead and take them.
So write your questions in the audience. Sam is going to send them to me on my phone and we'll
take your questions later on in the show. So fire away with questions for us as we're here on premiere
Night.
Whoa.
What did you think of the vote about fire me?
Yes, let's talk about that.
So we didn't have a lot of Jeff in the opening.
We got Jeff, like, set it up.
Okay, go off.
But then Jeff, you know, had some time in the middle of the episode.
Yeah.
And so Jeff talks to them about, hey, this is your season.
And we've got a few different announcements, which I want to go through.
Yeah.
First announcement was, hey, this is your game.
You get to decide how it's going to be.
last game was in the hands of the fans.
This game is in the hands of you, the survivor player.
So first question is, okay, should there be final four firemaking?
And by a show of hands, if it's unanimous, crazy standard.
That was a little bit, you know, respectfully, like, it could just be a majority vote.
Even a super majority.
You know, it doesn't have to be unanimous.
Yeah.
But the players,
Kilby's hand shoots up, by the way.
Yeah.
His hand shoots up.
I think it was Kilby, Kristen.
We saw you.
We know.
Yes.
We saw you.
Maybe Eric.
I wrote, I wrote them down before.
But so we get to five.
Five people say that.
Was it fully five?
Because Jeff said like, I think Jeff said it was just.
I want to say, I think it was, we got to five.
Yeah.
And Jeff's like, I can't believe.
Look at this.
Look at this.
Look at this.
I get grief, follow on social media in restaurants.
And look at the players.
They want the Final Four Firemaking.
I will say, I get why the players want the Final Four Fire.
Yeah, it gives you one more chance to get closer to the end.
It's one thing that the players know is happening.
And listen, like, if we want permanent uncertainty, shouldn't we make, like, like, I thought
the whole idea was permanent uncertainty, not uncertainty up until the final five.
and then it's very, it's exactly going to be certain.
Like, you should mix it up.
Yeah.
This season there is.
This season there's not.
What about that?
But the players practice.
So, you know, if I, if I knew I was going on Survivor,
it's a these people have been like trying to get on the show for 20 years.
Yeah.
And I'm sure one of them is Kristen.
And I'm sure she could make a fire like this.
Yeah.
And says, like, get rid of it.
She made the, get rid of it.
Yeah, she did in the episode.
But I get it.
If I've been studying for this one, this,
one thing for so long, like, it's understandable why, then don't get rid of that.
I practice that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or if you're, you know, they're never going to, like, the one challenged guy who's like,
thinks like, I need that my shot at firemaking, you know, or now I'm never going to
get taken.
They're never going to get unanimous.
Yeah.
There was no world where it was going to be unanimous vote.
I think I don't.
Although I will say in the actual one world itself, I thought there was no world where
they were getting unanimous vote of people saying they wanted to go to tribal council and that happened.
Right.
Right.
You never know.
Yeah.
They did not do a vote on should there be a final two or final three.
Right.
But did you get from Jeff that it could be on the table that there's a final two?
Oh, that would be fun.
I did not get that.
Final four firemaking and then it would be weird to like have a vote out of them.
That would be a strange.
Yeah, it would be weird.
Who knows?
Yeah.
Perfect uncertainty.
Okay.
But I think if they asked like should there be a final two or final three,
I think the players would almost unanimously say there should be a final three.
Of course.
Like, I want one more shot to be at the end.
And then the other question.
Like the players aren't necessarily that once they,
that once they go on to the show,
they don't have the same incentives as us watching at home.
Right.
Should there be no voting out or should there be voting out?
Like, I guess no voting out would be nice.
You know, should you all make it to the end?
Yes, I'd like that.
Yeah, should everybody win?
Yes, yeah.
But we are going to, speaking of everybody winning, okay,
we do have a lot of money that is going to be added to the prize pot.
Okay.
So Jeff says that the Mr. Beast coin,
uh, now just known as the coin is going to,
uh,
they should rename it the Rick Devon's coin.
Oh, that would be good.
Shouldn't they do that?
Yeah, that would be nice.
The Devons Doubler.
The Devons Doubler.
You can have that one for free.
Yeah.
Let's make it happen just by using it a lot.
They should bring Rick Devin's out every season.
It's like Mr. Bees came out this time.
Like, Rick Come back up.
Welcome to Survivor, Rick Devons.
And he comes out and he's like, hey, Jeff, I got the coin.
Like, all right, who's feeling lucky?
Is it a point like this?
I got the coin is a huge?
Maybe it's a big coin.
Yeah.
Maybe it's like, you didn't see on Big Brother, D had like a $5,000 coin.
Like, that should be a giant coin with Rick Devons' face on one side.
What should be on the other side?
Rick Devons' butt?
Yeah, Christian's pants.
That's tails.
So Christian soiled pants are tails.
Rick Devin's face, his heads.
And he comes out, and Rick Devin's, he didn't get to be the shopkeeper.
Right.
But this is way back in.
This is it.
Yeah.
And so Rick Devons should host the.
Devons Doubler every season.
Do you like the
progressive jackpot
of Survivor in the open air?
I think it's super fun.
I mean, you know,
first of all, it was a great moment.
I liked it.
I know that there were some people
who didn't like the moment.
Season 50?
Yeah, there were still some people who were like,
the people on Twitter.
You know, there's some people
are like, oh, the game mechanic is flawed,
like blah, blah, blah.
But like, you know, I thought it was a very fun moment.
I thought it was a fun mechanic
where like you get power,
you're taking a big risk,
but you're getting a potentially big reward.
with the like immediate safety and an idol.
And this, this, like, you know, the incentive of doubling the price pot.
Now potentially in two or three seasons, you've got a $5 million price pot.
People are going to be going crazy.
Right.
So I love it.
I think that we still need to like, yes and this.
I think that it shouldn't be a coin flip.
I think that 50-50 is too easy that we will not get to like the odds that we will ever in
our lifetime get to where the coin is goes against the person four or five times in a row.
It's a lot.
And it's sort of could happen.
But like it's totally reasonable that you could get two or three times that I would go against.
Sure.
And then you're getting a five million dollar pot.
Yeah.
Well, no, I guess a four million dollar pot.
Yeah.
So I feel like it was like what if it's a one and four shot where it's better than one
and three even like a, no, three because one time.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's right.
Yeah.
I just feel like.
I wish it was like a little bit harder.
So we couldn't get that chance where it's two or three years from now.
We're talking about a bit like, like, okay, somebody's going to win $4 million.
Right.
Like I think I don't think it's crazy that you get like, you know, two or three misses is totally within, you know, I mean, that's like, that's nothing.
Okay.
Then I also feel like that the rules based off of how I heard them was that, okay, you flip the coin, you're safe, you get an idol.
Yeah.
And then there will be a regular tribal council following that.
If you don't, you're voted out.
Yeah.
I think the rule should be that no matter what, there's still going to be a vote after this.
So even if you're eliminated.
Like, I think that Survivor dodged a bullet in season 50, where it was the best tribal council of the season.
Yeah.
Leading up to Rick, flip the coin.
Rick, if he flips the coin, like, okay, Rick, you're out.
Good night, everybody.
Right.
We just, like, we built everything up.
Everybody's all excited.
Like we're going to have this great.
And like this like everybody's fighting a tribal council.
Like okay, and now there's no vote.
Right.
Like still vote somebody out.
Yeah.
Who cares?
We're doing like all these crazy like double eliminations.
Like, okay, somebody's going to flip the coin.
It's like, okay, well, all right.
Say goodbye.
Rick Devons.
And now like it is time to vote.
And you can see how much time is left in the episode.
You're going to be like, yeah, there's only about, you know, two minutes left in the episode.
There's not going to be a whole vote after this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that'll be the thing.
And a live tribal council will break out.
It's like, oh, wait, that was.
Like we were voting out Stephen tonight
and now he's not here.
Now what are we doing?
So I don't know why you wouldn't
want to have a vote after that.
And then you go from final three to a final two.
It's the new era.
You have that flexibility.
Open era.
Don't go back to you.
You can't go reverse and go back to new.
New is old.
Yeah.
But now you have the flexibility.
You can mix it up.
Mix it up a little bit.
Okay.
I want to take questions from the audience.
How are we doing on time?
We're good.
Yeah.
All right.
We're going to take questions.
time. We're going to take questions from the audience and I'm going to look them up on my phone and hopefully
we do have questions from the audience. But let me tell you about a big event that we have coming up
in just a couple of weeks. What is it? Three weeks from tonight. I am going to be in our nation's
capital. Washington, D.C., Stephen's hometown, but Stephen is going to be somewhere else. Stay tuned for
more information on that. But we will be there. And I do think that there's going to be
We haven't rolled out the guest list yet, but we are expecting a pretty nice guest list that is going to be there in Washington, D.C. with us on October 14th.
You can go to Rob as a website.com slash events.
We'll do our patron meetup the night before and lots of fun stuff.
So it'll be a great city to do the live RHAP.
And I don't call it the live no-it-alls when you're not there.
No, I appreciate that.
The Washington in October is lovely.
It is nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it would be a fun, fun night.
Okay.
Oh, fishy.
We got to do the fishy.
Oh, okay.
All right.
Am I dropping the gun here?
No, after the questions?
I think so.
Do we have the fishy intro?
Do we still have that?
If not, the fishy theme song is sung by Eric Barger, who became like a big star on Big Brother
unlocked this summer, making Rick Devin's song.
Big Brother Celebrity, Eric Barger.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The great songs.
Very, very funny songs.
And I honored that the fishy songs by him.
So tell me, what are you thinking for the fishy?
Because I think it could go a number of different ways tonight.
I mean, the obvious one in my mind is Jenna, who the vote was basically going to be a pile on on her.
She took this little information that she had from this water chat, takes it to Brady and then, you know, watches the explosion happen around her.
I think that is, you know, she needed to save herself.
And she did.
I mean, to me, that's like a no matter.
What are the other, who are the other candidates?
So I think that, uh, that would be the, that would be the one.
I think that there, you know, sometimes you go off the board.
Yeah.
On everyone.
It's hard because there's no real other standout, like a, like strategic, you know,
win tonight.
Right.
Kristen and the negotiation did very well.
I feel like, I wish I could like, could have seen like a little bit more about what Mike was doing.
Yeah, I know.
I did feel like he, he was.
kind of in.
I feel like that there was like a little bit like he was like in the middle of everything.
I just I don't quite know what he said or did.
Why was the thumb war this like masterful?
The whole narrative of that negotiation was like, I am going to own him.
And then it's like thumb war.
So I wonder is Kristen like a, a thumb war ringer where it's really like if someone's like,
you know, people are playing different thumb war rules.
Maybe Kilby was sort of like surprised with how much arm tweak she had.
Um, she kind of thumbmogged.
him.
And then the confessional was like,
like,
Kilby's weak little thumb had no chance.
Yeah.
Really,
it was like really owned Kilby.
Yeah.
But I just really thought Kilby might have been thinking like classic,
you know,
classic rules and she was doing arm,
arm akimbo.
Yeah.
They called them more a game of chance,
which I feel like I would not.
I feel like it's more of this game of skill.
Yeah,
it does seem like a game of skill.
Do you want a thumb war?
Yeah, sure.
I'll do it.
I don't know.
I'm going to get.
I'm going to get killed.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
So this is not going to work on the podcast.
So what are the rules?
One.
Oh, you've got strong thumbs.
I can see it already.
Really?
I've been working on your grip strength.
All right.
So, and then.
You're just,
oh, no.
See, I did that.
But I did the,
Christy.
You were doing the Kilby way where you weren't moving your hand.
And I was like, well, I've got to do the Kristen way.
You know, I've never done that with another adult before.
So that was, that was, that was,
we can't do this when we're on.
Zoom.
Okay?
Yeah, the AI is good.
See, it looked real.
Yeah, it looks real.
It looks so real.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
We got some questions and we could always keep getting more.
Okay.
Oh, Felipe Lopes wants to know.
Who is Stevens winner pick?
Did you give us a winner pick?
I don't know.
I don't like to have a winner pick because I'm always wrong.
And then if I'm, if and then if I'm right, people are like, oh, he was spoiled the whole
time.
There's no real win for me to pick a winner pick.
But, I don't know, based on tonight, so hard to say.
I mean, there's like, you know, I've got my favorites.
I love Kilby.
I love Kristen.
You know, I loved, I loved, I love Devin, you know, like, there were, there were a lot of
really good ones.
Who do you like?
Who's your winner pick?
So I had made my draft.
We did the podcaster draft last week.
Normally, Nicole and I do, we do a podcast together.
And this is the first time we did not get to.
do a like a full podcast together to talk about it all. But I have been, uh, traveling for,
uh, a week straight now at this point. Yeah. So it just the timing ended up being bad.
Uh, I picked Linnea first in the draft. Yeah. So I'll stick with that was my preseason
winner pick. Yeah. Nicole texted me before the episode and she locked in her winner pick was
Dev. Dev. Yeah. I can see that. I mean, but Dev is like so gregarious.
You know, I feel like there's like Caleb Downside where everyone's like, yeah, I see this guy working everybody.
That was the new era.
This is the open era.
That's true.
That's really true.
Dev also went number one to Taryn in the podcaster draft.
Yeah.
I might do Christian just out of loyalty for the arbitrarian reductive.
Oh, Kristen, sorry.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Out of loyalty to the arbitrary and reductive shout out.
Yeah.
Yeah, not bad.
I mean, I kind of, though, I kind of want to say Maggie only because Maggie got a lot of
focus that I thought was like unusual.
There was a lot more Maggie than I expected there to be.
And so there's something about me, you know, that just like liked Maggie.
But there was not, you know, she wasn't shown to be a major decision made.
But honestly, I felt like there was more Maggie than they're neat.
Whatever.
I don't want to get too deep into this stuff.
But there's some part of me that thinks like it could be Maggie.
Okay.
All right.
This is a question from, how about, okay, Lacey May 06 is, should Lewis try
to align, who should Lewis try to align with when he returns from exile based on the dynamics
we've seen so far?
Was it established?
Did Jeff say that whatever tribe loses somebody, Lewis will go in?
I don't think they said that.
So that has been the precedent on Survivor.
Yeah.
And I know we did get a coming attraction for what the next episode was going to be.
It does seem like that the tribes are the same configuration.
That seems like it would seem wild if Lewis did anything else other than take the spot
of so I mean honestly when we were talking about like tribe strength and I don't know if the players are thinking about this but now Lewis is not going to be a slouch in the challenges.
Yeah.
They're all cut up.
His hands are all cut up.
But that's that's a big addition to this team.
Yeah.
It's already a group with seriously big people on it too.
Mm-hmm.
So all right.
So do you see any natural allies for Lewis now coming in?
Yeah.
It's interesting.
You know, obviously he and Maggie are both farmers.
Maybe that's, uh,
you know,
yeah,
that's,
that's a connection between them.
Um, yeah,
I mean,
he doesn't seem like,
it's not like a natural fit,
right?
Lewis is going to do great.
Yeah,
yeah.
And I got the truth.
I got to meet Lewis and I met him in action.
And he is just like such a chaotic person that he's just like so like,
like the opposite of like when you or I go show up in one of these games.
Like nobody's like,
like, oh my God, watch out for Lewis.
Right. He's, he, like, and I'm sure he is a smart guy, but nobody's like, nobody's worried
about Lewis. He's just like, oh, he's so fun. Yeah. He's so like, he's not plotting. Yeah.
And, you know, obviously there's some risk with him coming back, but I honestly think that he probably
will be fine, right? He's going to be, he's a big strong guy. Like, he's fun. He's got an accent.
Like, we love Lewis. And I think he is like super chaotic and fun. And I think that he's somebody who,
I think that there's some concern.
They say, like, oh, he has an idol.
He has something.
So they could, like, throw his name out there.
I just don't think it's going to stick.
I think the Lewis is in this for a while.
God, like, his hands are all messed up.
So he can say, like, you know, here's the proof.
I had this challenge.
I had this chopping challenge.
But then they're going to be like, come on,
this farmer who chops down trees couldn't do a chopping challenge.
There's no way there was a chopping challenge.
This farmer who chops down trees couldn't chop.
Yeah.
And the fact that he went and did this himself, like,
I feel like that if it was a different person,
they might say like, oh, he's shady, but I think they feel like, okay, he took one for the team.
Yeah, yeah.
So I think that Lewis is going to do, okay, I don't see a natural ally for him.
What about Jenna?
Yeah, maybe.
I mean, you know, she was on the outs and now she's looking for someone.
I did feel like Pat, obviously, and Jenna might have a thing going on.
So, you know, Pat sort of like gave Jenna that lifeline.
And so that, and then seemed to, so I, yeah, there's something there.
Okay.
New York sports survivors says, who do you think would go home if a Leah
tribe went to tribal again?
Oh, it's tough. I mean, there's a world where it's, you know, now, I mean, you know,
for all the talk between Devin and Brady, I don't think Devin is actually going to be in trouble,
but there's a world where Jelly is, right? Like, where, like, she, because she was on the wrong
side of the vote, you know, Devin has this, like, thing with Brady. We just added Lewis to the
tribe. Is it possible that we could look at Brady now? And he also is going to be, right. Brady does
look like he takes an injury in the next. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
is blood, bleeding out of his finger.
I mean, there's also a world where Jenna, you know, they're like, well, she, we spared her once.
Like, now it's your turn now.
You know, there's a world where she just kind of like.
I think that she overcame the hump.
I think that she's now opened up and she, I think she has a chance to.
I hope you're right.
Sometimes it boom rings back, you know, like they got the one person out from the other group and then, you know.
Yeah.
Okay.
Red Wings Princess wants to know.
How long would it take Steve into spear one fishy?
I, I mean, I've never used the Hawaiian sling.
I had just a spear.
be terrified to even touch the Hawaiian sling.
Yeah.
I've done like, we had like a normal, like a slingless spear in token chains.
It was not very good.
But I actually got like a few little, little fish.
I did catch some fish with a hook.
Yeah.
That's the way to do it.
That's the way to do it.
Yeah.
Some piranhas, right?
Piranhas and then also a few other fish.
Okay.
And then last question, E. Anderson 93 said,
do you think that Rhode Island Rob will actually keep his idol a secret?
Who does he seem most likely to?
tell. Oh, that's a good question. I can see him sharing it with Carter. Yeah. Yeah. I believe it. I think he's
going to keep his secret. I think so too. Especially the fact that it wasn't a beware advantage,
that he has the opportunity. It's such a big advantage that we saw for players who find an idol in the
second half of the game where they didn't have to do like a crazy stunt. They just got to keep an idol.
So I think he's going to, I think he is self-interested enough to not tell him. Yeah, I agree with that.
That makes sense. Yeah. Any other thoughts on the Survivor 51 premiere? No, very fun. I mean, I really
liked it. I liked the format really felt fresh. I think that some of the stuff that we were frustrated
with, like, they cleared it out. And, you know, the whole ethos has been like, like, let's give players
the room to play. And I actually felt like they did here. They gave them a lot of decision points and they
gave them big tribes where there's room to actually, you know, make moves. Yeah, I think in some of these
new era seasons, I think we're sort of like, okay, let's just wait for the swap now. Let's just wait for the merge.
But I am really eager to see how this pre-merge and these big tribes play out. So I don't think,
like, I don't think that Jenna could have done that, right? I mean, like, if it had been a six-person
tribe and they decided that channel was going to go over that's it it would have been done yeah okay um
we have a lot going on that we want to talk to you about so let's check out everything that's going

Steve Fishbeg, if you had any idea what that meant, you would be so surprised.
What's the Pharaoh?
What is it?
He like pushed a button and he gets money, right?
Isn't that what the curse?
What's the curse part of that?
Honestly, it really wasn't much of a curse for Rick Devin's, to be honest.
