Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cestradino back for our Survivor Q&A. And today we're
talking about the premiere of Survivor 48. And I'll be taking calls from the patrons
of Rob's podcast with a little bit of a twist of kick off the season. We're going to make
this show available to everyone. So everyone has a chance to see what goes on every single Friday as I talk to the greatest
Survivor fans in the world.
I've been saying a lot lately, Survivor is better when you're part of a tribe.
I think that we have the best imaginable community of Survivor fans here on RHAP.
We'll get to hear from them today as they have the link,
the patrons have the link to call in and talk with me.
I do this every Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern.
At least that's the goal.
Sometimes we, as you may hear,
we'll have some different days and times
and maybe even a fill-in host for me along the way.
But that's the goal. We go for
a couple of hours, try to get to as many people as we can, and we'll hear all sorts of great
questions from the community. We've gotten the week off to a great start with the Know-It-Alls,
my exit interview, and I had a really fun time talking with Zach Wurtenberger over two hours
with Zach on Thursday for you to check
out.
Plus, we're not done.
We got the Q&A here today.
And then we've got our old school Survivor interview.
I'm going to talk with T-Bird.
Plus, we've still got Club Condo to go with Chappelle where we'll talk about all of the
wacky moments from Survivor, all the things that made us laugh and all the things from
social media. We will do that on
Monday, of course if you're new to the podcast make sure you're subscribed to the podcast go to get RHAP
Com and if you want to find out more about becoming a patron head on over to Rob is website.com
Patron here with us today also is our patron community manager who is really your
Concierge in many ways of all things patreon Derek is here Derek. How are you?
Hello, did you like that? I called you the concierge
Yeah, why not? I think that's a great word. Okay. Yeah, or they say yeah, I
patron concierge
Derek and it just is like, hey, you become
a patron. And it's like, I don't know what to do. I don't know. I have a question. Derek
is here to help you. And Derek just got back from San Diego where he was part of a big
patron watch party in San Diego. Derek, how was that?
It was awesome. Nathan through a very fun event, we had a big
turnout. It's always more fun, as you say, to watch Survivor
with a tribe. And yes, San Diego was a great time.
We we gave out a little bit of swag, which was fun.
And and we got some more exciting things coming up.
So we have Bryson Wen here in L.A. next week.
So we'll be doing some patrons stuff Tuesday night and then
Wednesday before Bryson.
Yeah. If I could just back up one one step. One of the things that we have been trying
to do is trying to organize more events in person, even when I'm not able to travel the
country and be with people. I know everybody wants to come out for the live show. We'll
be in Boston on April 9th. As Tony would say, that show is a sellout, bro.
So no tickets left for that.
But Bryce and Wendell, they're touring around the country.
Derek is working to try to figure out ways
to organize patrons in the different cities
that Bryce and Wendell are at so that we'll have maybe
a day or two of events in each of the tour stops
that Bryce and Wendell are making.
And so, Derek, how do people get involved
with finding out what you're doing as far as RHAP Local?
RHAP Local, you could just hit me up.
Really email me if you're not a patron.
We've been posting stuff in the patron group,
in the Facebook, in the Discord.
If you're not at the $10 level, then you
don't see that stuff.
But you can always go to the patron bulletin, which
is robisthewebsite.com slash welcome.
And we post all the updates for local events there.
So you can access that at any Patreon level.
But yeah, if you have questions,
just email me, rhabderrick at gmail.com.
We'll be doing stuff in LA next week for Bryson Wen,
as I said, and then I'll also be going to San Francisco
the following week and we'll be coordinating with,
there's a lot going on in San Fran too.
There's a lot of patrons up there.
So a couple of things to look forward to.
And yeah, I've been emailing everyone
who filled out the Rapp Local form as well.
So if you didn't get an email from me, look for your spam
or hit me up on any social media or email.
OK, all right.
Derek, thank you so much.
Let me get into some of these calls here today.
And Derek stops by on Fridays to give us a little bit of an update on what's going on
in the patron world.
Derek, did you enjoy the Survivor premiere?
Yeah, I thought it was really fun.
I'm liking a lot of people and was sad to see Stephanie go.
She's a big character.
I hope that we get to do more stuff with her on the podcast.
Yeah, but I think there's a lot of fun to come, it looks like.
So yeah, I did.
OK, all right.
So let's try to keep this survivor focus.
I know people have like a trader's question or whatnot.
I'd like to try to not do too much traders talk here today.
Try to keep this focused for survivor on the Q&A.
Derek, did you have a survivor question?
No, I think let the patrons bring it in.
So yeah, you guys have fun.
Talk to you later, Derek.
OK, bye.
All right, so here's what we're going to do.
We're going to take the calls.
We try to give people just a couple of minutes
to be able to get to everybody.
One thing that we may need to do if we're not
pressed on time, maybe people if you've called in the week before, maybe like, hey, let's
try to really keep it quick, try to keep it tight so we can get to as many people as possible.
I've never left anybody on hold that I've never not gotten to everybody
on any of these call-in shows in over 10 years of doing that,
and I don't wanna start anytime soon.
So let's try to, we'll keep it tight
and we'll get to everybody, all right?
So let me start things off.
Let me welcome in, let's kick off a new season
and talk to Josh Kettles.
Josh, how are you? Let's let's kick off a new season and talk to Josh Kettles Josh
How are you? Great Rob except for I missed the fun party in San Diego with Derek. Oh, no, what happened?
No, I had I had other plans with great friends
We watched it with about a you know, don't dozen of us at our house as we usually do such a great survivor fan
You had multiple survivor
Yes, yeah
you had multiple Survivor bookings. Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How are you doing?
I'm doing great, except for I will say,
I invited all these friends to my house to watch Survivor.
And I was just uncontrollably sobbing in front of them.
OK, the Eva and Joe stuff really, really hits home for me.
I have an Eva in my life.
And somebody who, like, there was a person who came in my life and somebody who like there was a there's
a person came in my life and I just had to make a decision like do I have him or not?
And and so anyways, that just like really, really got me. But I
That's cool, Josh.
Yeah, yeah. I'm not trying to make this about me. I just wanted to share. There's some
Why not? Why can't be about you? It's your time. Okay. All right. Well, about this, I will say there was this really beautiful TikTok
I saw, I don't know, a couple months ago about a parent of a child with autism and how they
shared a metaphor for their, like those analogous to their journey. And I just, I feel like
it applies so well to Joe's experience of survivor too, that I feel like it's getting
a little bit lost in the debate here, which is, you know, when you, I don't know, this, you know,
I'm sure there's probably multiple people listening here who are parents of kids with different types
of disabilities or, you know, whatever, not just autism, but she basically described it akin to
going, you know, you have a trip planned for Italy, a vacation where your bags are packed,
everything's going to Italy, you get on the plane, and, you know, you read all the books for Italy, a vacation where your bags are packed, everything's going to Italy, you get on the plane and you read all the books about Italy, you think about all the different
types of foods you're going to eat in Italy, and then you get off the plane in Europe, in Switzerland.
And it's not that that's inherently worse than being in Italy, it's just that your experience
is just completely different than what you signed up for and what you thought you were going to be
headed towards. And she said that that's what it felt like, you know, having her child diagnosed with autism.
And so I'm going to look over here. But I just, I just feel like for Joe to experience that
whiplash of getting off the plane and realizing like, oh, my survivor journey is going to be much
different than what I signed up for. You know, we get that moment in the beginning where he's crying
and he just feels like he, you know, is so excited to play survivor to do it for his for. You know, we get that moment in the beginning where he's crying and he just feels like he, you know, is so excited to play Survivor to do it for his family. You know,
something that we talk about is like, you know, as Survivor nerds is like, you got to make sure
you know who you're most loyal to, which is your family. And then he gets out there and there's
this like transcendent thing that goes beyond the game. And I just thought like the grace
that he handled that with in that moment where he just says, I got hurt. Like I just, yeah,
that's a, that's a getting off the plane in Switzerland moment. he just says, I got her. Like I just, yeah, that's a getting off the plane
in Switzerland moment.
And I just, I loved it so much.
Yeah, that's a really great point just to connect the things
about Joe's experience.
He's a caretaker.
That's how he is.
And I don't know if it was by design or it was a coincidence
that production had them on the same tribe of that,
okay, she's gonna need her person.
And like this, she doesn't know it yet
and he doesn't know it yet,
but he's the perfect person to be her person.
Like, did they see this match coming?
But it was a great television for all of us to get to watch
and it's a really interesting start of a story for them.
Yeah, and I honestly, like I was so relieved
even just to the beginning of the before the
season started to see that Ava was out there with you guys in New York and to see that
there's photos posted because I just feel like this when I heard about you know her
being the first openly autistic person to play Survivor like the the variance on what
their experience might be could be as low as like you know a Zeke type of experience out there
to you know as high as you know just like some of like the most compelling moving journey that you know she could experience and we could experience along with her and so I just like the very least
the fact that I know that she had a positive enough experience to be going out there with you
all and you know to be at that beach drop event gives me some relief wherever this is headed that that's like, you know, her final destination is that she's still happy with
the show and had a positive experience. But man, I'm just still going to be on on edge
for her and for Joe, just like how this this shakes out.
Yeah. Okay. Well, I don't have any reason to believe that she's had a negative experience.
She seemed to be like in very good spirits when she was at the event in New York and, you know, just seemed like, you know, just another member
of the cast. So we'll see what ultimately unfolds. But it was, I think that probably
the most engaging part of the episode. I know my like really captured my kid's attention
in terms of that. I think Nicole was like starting to tear up during
that. So it was a huge moment in the episode.
Yeah, absolutely. And again, I, I just, I, it was the only time I've ever had to walk
away from the TV. I was literally crying so hard. I just like, I need to remove myself
physically because I'm distracting people from like watching the show and people like
checking in with me, which I'm a noted cry baby. Like that's not like that. But yeah. Anyway, so I just, I don't know. I had to just like
shout out that moment and just, I feel like if, yeah, if anything, the show like does,
I just think they took a huge risk with this. And I'm like, actually like I was nervous,
but I'm really, I'm really excited to see how this this shakes out. I feel like, you
know, I don't know how you feel, but like, usually I'm like, I just want the game to
be the game. Like I'm like this strategy nerd. Like that's how I feel about myself.
But like this is like a really surprising like spanner in the works, you know, that's being thrown at them.
But also me as a viewer.
Yeah. OK, well, we'll see how it plays out.
Was there anything else on your mind, Josh?
There's always stuff, but I know you want to keep this zippy, Rob.
Zippy.
I think I can just yeah, I can just bow out here and just having said the most important
thing for me.
Well, great points all around and we'll talk to you soon.
Okay, Josh?
See you, Rob.
All right.
Take care.
Bye.
All right.
Great way to get things started.
Let's then, let me say hello to Christine.
Hey, Christine, how are you?
Good, how are you?? Great. What's going
on? Do you remember when I beat you at Twitch? How can I forget? I had so few losses. They're
all I keep me up at night. It's okay. You can blame it on the scoop in question. But
I wanted to talk about David. Yes, by the way, a great episode of TWISH this week as Genevieve's husband, Mark Tallin
joined me to play TWISH against Jordan Kalish this week.
Oh, I haven't listened to it yet.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I want to talk about David and particularly a very hot take that my husband had this first
time I've called in, but this was important enough for me to call in.
So I think it's first of all, very fun to have someone who knows nothing about Survivor on a show. An Australian Survivor does
it all the time. I just think it's wonderful to have like a foil to the super fans. I was not on
my bingo card to hear him say, I'm just a girl staring at a boy, asking him to love her. I just wasn't expecting that.
So it was a lot of fun.
But when I started the show, I said,
because my husband doesn't do any of the preseason stuff.
So I said, David, this guy, Rob's wife hates him.
I've never heard her hate anyone as much as David.
He said to me, and I don't agree with this,
but he said to me, he looks just like Rob. And I said, No way, because
all I do is I hear your voice and your vibe. And it's like the
opposite of David. Um, but then he immediately pulls up your
face from the Amazon, pulls up David's face from Survivor 48.
Yeah. And I see it.
David's face from Survivor 48. Yeah.
And I see it.
Wow, okay.
Well, this is, I don't know how to process this.
I know. Because.
You might need to.
Hmm, yeah.
In the chat, they say LOL, they do not look the same.
So I don't know.
I'm just saying it's my thing.
If David had no muscles,
maybe you're saying he would look like me.
No, I don't see your body ever.
Yes, because I'm mostly just the head.
Yes.
Yes.
Kristen, which is I see it mostly in the biceps.
Yeah.
I mean, yes, sure.
The similarity is striking.
Yes.
Okay.
But I'll take it.
But you think that maybe Nicole,
that she feels like, again. Was she it. But you think that maybe Nicole, that she feels like again.
Was she like mad at you this week
before she went into this?
Was it a day that ends in Y?
Yes, I would.
Yeah, so maybe this is just her projecting
some marital strife onto Dave.
Perhaps, perhaps.
Yes, and actually David was a very good sport about that, that, you know, he didn't say
like, hey, you little twerp, I'm gonna like crush your head when I see you.
He had a good natured post calling himself Nicole's winner pick.
And you know, I took it in stride.
Yeah.
Okay. Well, that's all I had. I just it in stride. Yeah. Okay, well that's all I had.
I just had to show that.
Yeah, he can do my stunts in the RHAP movie.
Yeah.
Okay.
Exactly.
Yeah, all right.
Well, yeah, thank you.
That's an amazing call and I'm sure, you know, we'll get a lot of feedback on it, one way
or the other.
Yeah, I hope so.
It was worth calling in.
Yeah, okay.
And how are you doing?
I'm doing good.
My house was under construction when I last called
and thankfully that's all over.
They finished?
So yeah, it's all done.
I have my house back.
All right, well Christine, thank you so much.
Yeah, talk to you later.
All right, take care.
Bye.
Bye.
Okay, was not expecting that on my bingo card here today.
Let's try Harmony next.
Harmony.
Hey Harmony, how are you?
Hello Harmony, you're on mute.
Can you hear me now? Yes, now I hear you.
My bad.
I'm doing great. I went to see Bryson Wen
when they were in New York City.
Yes, how was that?
It was a party. Yes.
It was great.
I met a lot of people.
I saw several people again and that was a lot of fun.
Yeah.
Yep.
They got the tour started on Wednesday night.
Anybody go if you can.
And another small little update is I remember last time I called in,
I asked you about what
I should binge.
I have been binging Survivor, so I'm really excited for those old school interviews because
that's exactly where I am.
And as an update, I'm currently in Amazon episode six.
Okay.
And you've seen Christie Smith.
In the course of 14 days.
Yes, I have.
So I was just like, I'm In the course of 14 days. Yes, I have. So I was just like,
I'm in the middle of that season.
So I'm like, oh, that was super cool.
And I'm also obviously watching you tear it up as well.
It's about to get good.
Honestly, it's already good.
As everything's been shuffled up, I'm like, oh, cool.
No more, less misogyny with everybody.
That feels like a shot now, Harmony. It was a different time.
I was around during 2003. I get it. I get that.
But real quick question. Let's say, I know we don't gatekeep, it's un-American,
undemocratic, but let's say you are at an event
in the corner talking to Jeff Probst
about the voting for Seed and 50.
What question would you give to gatekeep catawalls
on the voting site? Okay, now this was, if you listen to Twitch this week,
and also Zach Wordenberger had the same thing,
that Jordan Kalish talked to Jeff Probst.
And I told this story on Twitch of how I'm watching Jordan,
I was like, you know, watching one of my children go up
and talk to somebody, like, oh my God, what is he saying?
And I said, Jordan, what are you talking to Jeff about?
He's like, well, I told him that they need to have a quiz
that people need to take to be able to vote
for the fan vote.
I was like, uh, like,
so is that what you're proposing, Harmony?
You also want that?
Listen, I didn't say that.
Yes. I'm just curious, like, if you were giving a pitch to, like,
just to make sure that people, random people who've never
seen the show or something just log in, click whatever,
like, it's for the fans, right?
Yes.
Which are also the casuals, but it's for the fans.
Yes.
So I'm like, what question would you come up with?
Am I trying to stop bots from entering? Like, is a So I'm like, what question would you come up with?
Am I trying to stop bots from entering?
Like, is a picture of like Rob Mariano,
and I say, what city is this man from?
You're trying to stop people who have never seen an episode
of the show from the movie.
Yeah, what do you think about that?
I... I mean, I'm not mad at it.
I think that I thought about this.
In case you flipped the script and said, what would you
ask?
I think the question should be, where was your favorite season held?
So that if it's one of the new ones, the answer is just Fiji.
Anybody who's seen an episode of the show should know that it's probably in Fiji or
if it's just you've seen Survivor Africa, then you can just say Africa.
Yeah.
You know?
Name a place that Survivor has been.
Okay.
I guess.
Yeah.
But yeah, I was just like, if you wanted to like make sure that there were no bots or anything,
what would you ask?
Yeah. What do you think that the bots would want?
The bots would want...
No rice?
I guess it would be...
Ha ha ha ha ha.
I actually, I'm very pro, everyone's pro rice,
it seems like, but I think that we get drama from the rice.
Yeah.
Sometimes you have people sneaking rice, you have...
So I say, have the rice.
I mean, that's the rice and the chickens.
I mean, throughout the history of the show,
it's always a fight. They're eating too much. You didn't give me enough. So I say, have the rice. I mean, that's the rice and the chickens. I mean, throughout the history of the show,
it's always a fight.
They're eating too much.
You didn't give me enough.
You didn't cook it how I like to cook it.
I mean, you want there to be drama.
Give these people some rice.
Give them rice.
I don't care if they're starving, but yeah,
I just wanted to, I know we gotta be jiffy.
I wanna make sure a bunch of people
get the chance to call in.
So I just wanted to ask.
Yeah, thank you for that, Harmony.
Okay, all right, talk to you soon, Okay. All right. Talk to you soon. Okay
All right. Take care. Bye
Okay. Let me say hi to ben who's on hold
Hey ben, how are you?
Good to talk to you. Yeah, what's happening?
Uh, not much. Uh, this week has been recovering from knee surgery for me. So wow. Okay. Are you doing all right?
has been recovering from knee surgery for me. Oh wow, okay, are you doing all right?
Yeah, doing great, been watching White Lotus
and all your podcasts.
The new one or the old, you're catching up on the old ones?
I'm still catching up, so nothing for season three yet.
Doing good, yeah, Survivor 48, Survivor 40, great.
I love it so far.
I think that the Sweat vs. Sav savvy challenge was the best part of the episode
for me. Yeah. I don't think they call it that now. I think they call it now the fight for supplies
is what the new name of it is. Well, it's more like a show don't tell of sweat versus savvy
because the way that the players ended up going about it was perfect because it was a, essentially a sweat versus savvy.
Um, you know, you had, um, Kyle going at it much more aggressively, haphazardly.
Um, and then, you know, we saw the results of that where, you know, Kevin obviously
went about it more analytically, uh, but very interesting.
Um, my question for you though, is a little different.
Um, it seems like these tribes
seem very straightforward and like here's the obvious next vote for the purple tribe. It seems
to be star, you know, for the orange tribe, it seems to be charity. And then, you know,
for the green tribe, you know, marry or say, which one of those tribes you think is most likely to go off
of that beaten path first?
So I feel like that the charity thing
was a little bit more based on just like one conversation
that ended up happening.
And I don't know if those four are super bonded.
I think that on the Purple Tribe,
and I have to find my notes
to remember what the Purple Tribe is, Nate Lagge, they seem to have like, okay, we have
the guys together, and then Thomas has Bianca, and Joe has Eva. So it feels like that that's
like, okay, a little bit more star is on the outside looking in. So I think that the orange
tribe Siva is the one that I think could be more fluid.
Okay. I agree with you there. I did want to pitch that.
My prediction is I think that we're going to get the green tribe Vula. I think that
they're going to be our disaster tribe. I think that they're going to be going to at
least three pre-emerge tribal councils.
I think that'd be interesting.
I think that they're the most up in the air right now.
I could see someone other than say, or Mary going,
just because of what we saw last season.
We saw both the red tribe and the yellow tribe
have these three pairs of two people.
And in both cases, uh, for the yellow tribe, we saw John love it, go home,
which was kind of like a pseudo pair with Andy.
And when Andy would have been the next obvious vote to
eliminate that pair entirely.
We saw them go after Annika, you know, who seemed like a safe pair.
And then in the red tribe, we see, you know, Asia go home.
And then instead of going after Saul, who was her pseudo pair, you know, they looked to the other pairs.
So I think we could see some chaos like that happen in this green tribe, just because if they're going to keep going back to tribal council,
then one pair doesn't want to be going up against another pair. They want to be going up against two individuals.
When you think about it, when you have these tribes of six and then you have duos and you take one
person out of the duo, now all of a sudden the other two duos are fighting for the one person
who's the swing. And so it doesn't always make the most sense to take out both people from a duo and then go into the merge with your, you
know, two pairs. I think ideally, you know, one of the duos is going to want superiority and probably
wants to pick up the other person. So really, it's not a bad strategy. And this is maybe a little bit
of a hot take everybody. You want to be very close with the first person to get voted out.
You want to be very close with the first person to get voted out. Yeah.
Not bad, right?
That's pretty good.
Like, OK, who's the person who's getting voted out?
OK, now I'm there, but I'm going to get close to that person.
The only thing is like, OK, what if they have an idol?
OK, you get collateral damage there.
But it's not the worst place to be.
Rob, you stole my thunder.
That was going to be my hot take coming into this. Well, then I agree with you, Ben. I don't know.
Mary for the win. Mary for the win. You know, we've seen a lot of women in their early 30s,
late 20s be successful. I think it's going to continue. I really like Mary going into
this. OK. But I think they're going to be disaster, too. So we'll see.
We'll see.
All right. Well, Ben, thank you for the call.
Good luck with the recovery. OK, thank you.
I appreciate it. All right. Take care.
All right. Bye. All right.
Let me say hello to Kristen.
Kristen F.
Hey, Kristen, how are you?
Hi, I'm well. Good.
You're not down in the library anymore. Basement, I'm well over here. Good, you're not down in the library anymore?
Basement, I'm in my own office now.
That was your parents' house, right?
Yeah. Yes.
Hi folks, yeah.
So this is exciting.
So at the risk of becoming like the map girl,
I'm looking at the map again.
So if you go to Google Maps and you go over
and find Monte Island, you can see the airstrip
which becomes base camp right.
And so the last picture that-
Slow down, slow down.
Yeah, that you are on top of, that on Google Maps
you can look up where survivor location was.
And what are you seeing?
And yeah, so if you go to Mamunouchis Islands,
as Jeff has told us, you can go,
and it's pretty easy to figure out where it is.
There's an island called Mana Island,
and on Mana Island, there's an airstrip,
and that airstrip becomes the production base camp.
The picture that's on Google Maps
when you click the satellite.
This isn't a spoiler, right?
No, no, no, no, not at all.
I will never do that to you. Great. So when you click down on it, the picture that's there is
from what looks like either like it looks like the end of season 47. That's the time frame when
they took the picture. So I got excited last season when the water challenge I had been looking at on the map appeared,
I jumped out of my seat very excited.
Now, I've been looking at the base camp and there are
these really interesting objects
that I haven't been able to figure out.
You can see there's all sorts of different stuff.
There's parts of challenges,
there's lumber that they're using,
and then there are these interesting shapes,
like maybe 20 of them around.
I believe that what you can see
is the Isidega Tribal Council.
Oh!
Jeff mentioned that they were being built
out on the airstrip.
You can actually see when they're being built
and staged out on the airstrip at the end of 47
as they were getting ready to build for 48.
Yeah. I think it's cool ready to build for 48. Yeah.
I think it's cool.
That is pretty cool.
Yeah, that's pretty amazing.
How often does it update?
I don't know, it hasn't updated in the last year or so.
Oh, okay.
So we're really, it's like when we look at the stars,
with all due respect to Stephanie,
that we're looking at something that happened
like billions of years ago.
That's what Google Maps is.
It shows us what happened about a year ago on Survivor.
Can we just stop at the stars though?
I don't know.
Yeah.
Yeah, it does.
It's just a moment in time.
And it's a cool moment in time
because it is showing like what we're seeing now
in the build.
So anyway, anyone who's a nerd for that kind of stuff,
go take a look.
It's kind of fun.
Yeah, okay. And how long has it been that way for?
Um, it's been, like I said, it's been about a year, maybe a year ago I started looking at the maps and really starting to memorize island locations and et cetera, et cetera.
And then just seeing interesting things.
Yeah. Do you look at other locations or is it just for Survivor?
Oh, just for Survivor.
Okay. I wasn't sure if you were like a big Google Maps head and we looked at like, oh, here's
what's going on at the pyramids of Egypt today.
No, I'm the type of Survivor player that if I was every player, I would want to be able
to know where I was with my blindfold on.
So that's the kind of crazy prep. People are doing their puzzles.
I'm doing Google Map Memorization.
If I found the Beware Advantage clue,
you'd be the first person I'd come to
to help me figure it out.
Yes, I love it.
Okay, all right.
Chris, anything else on your mind?
No, that's it.
Okay, all right, cool.
I will talk to you soon, okay?
All right, bye.
All right, let's go. And by the way, we're doing great, cool. I will talk to you soon, okay? All right, bye. All right, let's go.
And by the way, we're doing great, everybody.
Let me say hello to Zach.
Here's Zach.
Zach, how are you?
Hey, Rob.
I'm good, how are you?
Doing great, what's happening, Zach?
I'm good.
I was just thinking about,
I saw a couple weeks ago, you posted you had coffee with Kenzie.
Yes. And that made me have, you know, I was like, what a great, you know, to be a fly on the wall,
like two sweeties having coffee together. It sounded like she came to my house.
Oh, that's amazing. Yeah. She was in Raleigh and she was like, she texted and she's like, hey,
like, I never got to see you after the finale. And I'm going to be in Raleigh. So are you around? And I got to meet her baby.
Yeah. Okay. That's awesome. I love that she's, you know, participating with the fans because I know
a lot of people haven't been so nice to her. So that makes she's one of my favorites. I mean,
you're really happy. Yeah. She was dealing with a lot at the time that she ended up, you know,
that that season was very controversial with all of the drama that was going on on social media. And she
like I think it was, you know, it really made the experience not as fun as, you know, she
thought it might be.
Yeah, understandable. It's it's yeah, it's scary.
So on that note, you know, we have the California Girls Alliance and this new season.
Had me wondering if you had to create a North Carolina Girls Alliance of your favorite survivors from North Carolina.
Yeah. Who would it be?
You know, probably me, Chase Rice,
Jane Bright.
They were the original North Carolina Alliance.
It's true. And I saw I just saw Jane Bright at UNC in a couple of weeks ago.
She seems like a sweetie, too.
She's based on how she came across in the show.
Jesse's in North Carolina.
And that's Cedric's in South Carolina.
Sabaya is in North Carolina.
Okay, yeah, you have a lot of options on this future All-Star season.
Yeah, in the last couple of years, North Carolina has really, you know, we've grown.
Yeah, and I hear great things. My cousin lives over there. She moved out there and she loves it.
Yeah. It's a very nice part of the country that we're really, we really like it here.
Yeah. I'm from California, so I would have my pick of the litter, I guess.
Yeah, what part is that?
I'm from the Bay Area, but I live in LA.
Oh, cool.
Yeah, it's nice. But so anyway that's all I had I
just wanted to hear who your North Carolina girls would be. Yeah okay well
Zach thank you so much okay. Talk to you later. Thank you. Bye.
Okay we've got on hold a 35 year old Chris is here. 35 year old Chris.
Chris how are you? I'm good how are you Rob? year old Chris. Chris, how are you?
I'm good, how are you Rob?
Doing very good.
Now Chris, why are you 35 year old Chris?
Cause there's old Chris also?
Yes.
Yeah, exactly.
So I didn't want to be young Chris.
Cause I'm not really young.
Yeah.
I'm not old.
I was like, I'll just be 35 year old Chris.
Medium Chris.
Yes.
Okay.
Chris, what's on your mind?
Yeah, so I wanted to plug a few things for you. Oh
I'm in the BCC chat. Oh, yeah, I have to say it's great. Yeah, we've been having a lot of fun and
chat BCC not chat GPT chat BCC like a blind carbon copy that
there is a founder of this app and he happens to be friends with Sophie.
And Sophie texted us and said, hey, that there is a guy I know who's starting up an app.
He wants to talk to you guys about doing a survivor chat.
And so we talked with the founder of the app, Steven and I, and he was like,
hey, can you guys help us get a bunch of survivors in here
to talk about Survivor all week long?
Yeah, sure, during the episode, let people,
because really one of the things that I find
is that the community is so fractured
in terms of where everybody is posting during things.
So he said, okay, well, let's let's work on this. And they're also working on something for like,
around sports and other reality shows. But they asked us, can you help us get the survivor
chat going? And so we invited some people and then a whole bunch of other survivors
showed up. And really, it's really it's like you're seeing the group chat of the survivors.
And then if you're just coming in,
your chat isn't in with the survivors.
You can respond to what the survivors are saying.
But you know, everybody,
it's been a fun group chat conversation.
Yeah, it's been an absolute blast.
And it's been this, it's very like free flowing and it's been this it's very like
Free-flowing and just very just interesting and always fun. Yeah people are like, you know teasing and so it's been fun If you want the link for that go to Rob's website comm slash VIP chat and it's free if you want to check that out
Not mandatory
Yeah, but I recommend it highly so yeah. Thank you. You're welcome. Rob, I do have a question.
Yes. Who do you think is going to be like the Genevieve this season?
OK, pretty quiet.
Obviously, episode one, so you don't have a lot to go off of.
Who's going to be the slow burn who's going to come out?
Now, does it have to be a woman?
No, it could be anyone that's kind of been quiet.
Obviously, David's been kind of like very loud.
Yes. Spoken.
You get a lot of screen time from him.
May I refer to my notes here of looking for somebody
who maybe was a little quiet in the premiere
that is going to have a big pop later on in the season?
I'm going to say, hmm.
And really, everybody got some airtime in the premiere also.
Could it be Charity?
That's interesting you said that actually wrote Charity
and Star as the two that I'm thinking of.
Yeah, I think that Charity is the person who I think
that people were pretty high on her in the preseason.
And then she kind of didn't have much in the first episode, if anything.
She had negative content in the first episode.
So I wonder if if somebody that we were not talking about too much right now
ends up being a big part of the season, that would be my guess.
Yeah, yeah, I agree with that.
So but yeah, I was I was curious.
Obviously, I think she's in a kind of a bad situation with the Kyle. Yeah, I'm kind of conversations been going on. But I think there's a lot of game left. So a lot can change.
Yeah. Okay, cool. Anything else going on, Chris?
No, that's it.? Thank you. All right, take care. Bye. Bye.
Okay, let me say hello to Joey is here.
Joey.
Joey, how are you?
Hey, Rob.
I am doing absolutely terrific.
What does your shirt say today, Joey?
It says, I am Joey Olberding, because that's who I am.
This is not a shirt that I made.
This is a shirt that was gifted to me by a friend of mine.
So it's not really...
It's kind of narcissistic, but I didn't make it.
This was a surprise gift.
So I am Joey Olberding.
Yes, yes.
Is that merch? Can other people buy that?
No, no, it's basically one of a kind.
So, but it is one of a kind.
But it's a great shirt and I wear it once in a while.
You should say, I am Professor Joey. It's not true. I don't have a degree. I'm working on that
right now, but I don't. Anyways, I wanted to talk about Survivor 48, of course, and I wanted to talk
about Stephanie and sort of something we don't often talk about because it doesn't make the edit, which is the pregame sort of expectations and thoughts on people
from other players. It's something that we get in the pregame interviews, but something that we
don't actually see on television. And I think inevitably was part of the reason why Stephanie
was an outcast on her tribe was the way that she appeared to other people.
And I kind of wanted to ask you about your time
on the Amazon and how sort of your pregame notions
of other people were and how that might have actually
impacted the game if at all.
Yeah, okay, that's an interesting question.
Let me just, I'm going back to my notes of what people
said about her.
I remember Say did not really like the art lady she talked about.
That's the big one in my mind since she was such a vocal presence on that tribe. She said
about Stephanie that she was really playing up her artist persona and I wasn't, I'm not
sure if this was in the middle, in the midst of still casting and like finalizing the tribe.
So she was trying to play up her persona, but she would fill up water cups
to dip to dip her paint brushes in and stuff like that.
And that really bothered say she didn't like that.
I will be honest, if I were in the casting process, that would bother me.
I think I'd be a bit really we're painting or painting.
Yeah, exactly.
Then on Mary, Mary said she didn't like the girl with the hair. Is that also Stephanie? Do you think I would assume so?
I mean Stephanie does does seem to have there. I I also think you know, I I yeah, I think she's such a strong personality
That I think people inevitably are gonna have opinions on her positive or negative like pretty quickly
Okay, she reminded me a little bit of Carolyn, but like not not quite the same.
Yes. Stephanie mixed with Kendra.
But Cedric said he liked the tall blonde also.
So that I think that, you know, some mixed opinions, but say he felt very strongly.
As far as me in the Amazon, how did I feel about everybody?
I'm trying to think back. I remember feeling like I had a lot of
imposter syndrome and they didn't that was the term wasn't invented yet Joey but
yeah I can say that looking back I looked at like the you know the guys who
look like oh these look like really cool guys like the girls look like oh like
these are like really you know fun, like these are like really, you know,
fun people. Like these are like very attractive people. Like what, what am I doing here with
this group? I think that people that I had good vibes with, I feel like Christy, the
aforementioned Christy from Survivor the Amazon who got named. I remember like having like a couple of like smiley moments with her.
I feel like that gene, you know, I was very good.
And this comes full circle because I had just finished
watching Big Brother three in the time of Survivor the Amazon.
And I felt very much like, hey, that Danielle and Jason,
that's what I want to do.
I need to find an older woman, like a mom type.
That would be a really good duo for me.
So I was looking at the, and ultimately that person was Dina,
but I was looking at the jeans and the janets
and the people who might the, you know, people who
might have been in that spot. So I feel like the Jean was somebody I was also like looking
at a lot in the preseason.
Yeah, that makes sense. And yeah, you're right. The sort of perceptions of other people do
go the other way. In addition to saying not liking Stephanie, we got in this episode,
Kevin saying to Mary, I really liked you from the very beginning.
And it's like, there are two ways to interpret that.
Is that the marooning or is that
throughout the entire casting process?
And I would assume it's the latter,
but obviously that's not something that we'll be able to know
just from watching the show.
And the one thing from the Survivor, the Amazon pregame
that ended up manifesting in the show was that we were
like sleeping in this. I don't even know what you would call like this nature preserve where
it was like basically like all this like it was like a tree house that we were in in the Amazon. And we were sleeping on hammocks and Ryan Aiken,
the first boot of the season, that allegedly Roger, RIP,
said that Ryan would at nighttime go up and down the stairs
and bang his feet so loud.
As soon as that Ryan was sick,
he was like getting sick from the food.
He had to get up to go to the bathroom
a bunch of times at night.
And he was making too much noise.
And Roger had like had a real strong dislike towards him
from before the game even started
because he was making too much noise
going up and down the stairs.
Yeah, it just goes to show the smallest things
can impact your
time on Survivor.
But that's all I had, Rob.
Thank you for taking my call.
OK, Joey, talk to you soon.
OK, all right.
Bye. OK, let's
let's check in with.
Let's see.
How about Bobby?
Just sat back down.
OK.
Hey, Bobby, how are you?
Fast pass, that was great.
Yes.
Ready and excited to talk about.
Yes, Bobby, are you loving season 48
as the number one David super fan?
I thought David got a much kinder at it
than I was anticipating going into the premiere.
And yeah, as a David super fan, I thought he did actually really good.
That wasn't what I was going to talk about, but I thought he did a great job
sharing the clues and looking kind of maybe he is a little.
But I think it's good to show your tribe that you're not scheming behind their back.
I think you want to play into what people expect. Yeah. Yeah.
I don't think that you could be David and also be a schemer.
Um, yeah, I actually felt like David and I are a little bit too similar. I got like really like,
oh, man. Why are you a big Notting Hill person? Um, I'm a big like, what's here are my three
questions. I love to ask new people. What are your three questions?
I always said, how do you like your burger cooked?
Wow.
What's your favorite?
I describe your perfect burger.
What's your favorite color?
Because I'm poor, so why am I talking about cars?
And then I always said, if you were an animal,
what would you be and why?
Not what would you want to be, but what would you be?
What do you get out of the burger question?
What do you learn about people from the burger question?
OK, so I always said your color is like your aura, right?
Your animal is how you see yourself.
So your self-perception of yourself is going to be so different than what I see you,
because I'm a judge on American Idol.
Yeah. I feel like your burger really can describe like,
it's like the is the look of it all. It's like all made up, right?
Like, I feel like my burger personally is like,
I like a medium rare burger that is basically
like a cowboy burger on a menu.
Like barbecue sauce?
Yeah.
Yeah. It's always like a little embarrassing to order for.
There's like crispy onions and it's barbecue sauce
instead of ketchup.
And I feel like that's the real thing.
Like you look at me, you think I'm ketchup.
Like I look kind of all American.
I seem very like musical theater gay. I'm very Disney gay, but I'm a little bit different, you think I'm ketchup. Like, I look kind of all American. I seem very, like, musical theater gay.
I'm very Disney gay, but I'm a little bit different.
I think I'm sweeter.
I think I'm a little bit tinnier.
I'm a little bit zestier.
I just put away my shirt that says zesty
because I bought it because Franny and I just felt bad
because I was on.
I went to Target after one of these call-ins once
and I was like, Franny didn't drop her ball
in the individual immunity challenge.
And then at Target, there was a shirt that said Zesty,
and that was her word to describe herself.
And we all didn't draft Franny for a winner pick
because she was like, Zesty's my word.
And we're like, okay.
Yeah, Bobby, that was so much.
There was so much there.
Well, okay, that's not even what I was talking about.
That was my question. Well, I OK. That's what I mean. I'm not that was my question.
Can I how am I going to succeed as this flaming homosexual?
If all we do is gender politics on these shows,
I can't handle a single gendered knock on Traders one more week.
Like, thank God the show's ending, because every time someone knocks,
they're like, that's a woman's knock.
I'm like, what are we doing here? What's going on? What are we talking about?
Is that a big part of the show of who's knocking on the door?
Unfortunately, if you watch Rob, yes, it is. Unfortunately, that is a segment utilized
every episode and maybe it's camp and maybe I should like not be upset, but then I watched
survivor.
Yes. Keep it to survivor. What are you seeing in Survivor that is gender politics?
I just feel like...
I say knew what she was gonna do before she got there, right?
Like, she...
She knew she wanted to run out of a woman?
Well, she was in the Mike Bloom interview.
I'm pretty sure she's like,
not to be the girl who wants to work with the men,
but she's reheating Maria's nachos, as the kids would say.
Like, she is, like, on the Green Tribe,
finding those beta boys, getting targeted in the mid-merge.
Like, she is gonna do that game.
And I kind of love it because I also...
All my friends were like, that's you, by the way.
That's how you talk to people.
And...
Me thinking I'm like Justin, like, I'm a friendly...
They're like, no, that's how you talk about the game.
That's how you talk.
Like you turn into that.
And I was like, oh my God, that's crazy.
So Bobby, is this the players or this is the show?
I think it's the show. I think it's the tribe format.
I think you get it as like when there's like big dude guy,
other guy, it's rough being the other guy.
Like in a tribe of six, it's rough.
Like you have to grow out.
I'd be the other guy, yeah.
And so I think like Thomas, for example,
this is my, I'm not, I don't wanna say I'm not a betting man
cause my family is like so into gambling,
but like I think Thomas is gonna lose Bianca
in that purple tribe. I think Star is safe. Bianca in that Purple Tribe.
I think Star is safe.
This is my like, I'm calling my shot moment.
Because they're all such intense gamers
that I don't think Shaheen is gonna let Thomas
have a plus one.
If Joe's with Ava and we can't break them up,
because you look at them and they're like,
that's America's team, right?
We can't break that up yet. look at them and they're like, that's America's team, right? We can't break that up yet.
I'm not gonna let you have Bianca if I can't have Star.
And I know he hasn't claimed Star yet,
but I'm anticipating a lot of early mess there.
Okay, I think that that's an interesting point.
I don't know necessarily that Shaheen wants Star,
but I could also see him saying like,
well, I don't want you, why do you get to have your person?
Like, okay, we get the Joe and Eva thing, but.
Right, and I'm not gonna be able to twist the tribe on.
You're supposed to be my person, like, you know.
Why do you get another person?
Yeah, I'm getting like shades,
I mean, I'm getting shades of 44 pretty intensely,
like an orange tribe that just won't matter
until the green tribe.
Well, I had said that I feel like that Bianca was Maddie coded to me right from the second I saw her.
Yeah, she's a little more. I always say this is like musical theater energy. Maddie Pamea is like
cool girl brat, Charlie XCX energy. This girl's more like chapel round. She's like in your face.
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, Purple is the tribe to watch for fun. I do think Green Tribe's just gonna be like. Go drop the council a bunch of times.
Yeah, so we're gonna be like,
do we wanna work with Mary, do we not?
And then not, but I just think it's guys and girls
and partners and it's like, ah.
Yeah.
All right, well we'll see, it's only one episode.
I know, I know, I'm just saying.
I'm excited, loved, know it alls.
I thought it was, that's where Steven's supposed to be.
Yes, I thought that was it. And I loved your comment, and it alls. I thought it was, that's where Stephen's supposed to be. Yes, I thought that was, and I loved your comment
and Stephen did too, I think, of that you said that Stephen,
you know, he's very self-conscious about the account
with 200 followers who might've said the same thing
as Stephen before he got to say it on the podcast
is in his head.
Yeah, he's just got a million avenues
and I like when he just, and it's great.
Yeah, I've really liked doing the format better the way that we're doing it,
where I get to talk to Stephen on Wednesday and we get to have that out as sort of like the first word.
And I've talked about this on other podcasts where I think it's a tough spot to put some of the players in to be like,
all right, hey, let's go, let's break down the vote.
Like, you know, we don't even have time to hear how you're doing.
Like, we got to just jump right into it.
And then from on like a Thursday,
then, you know, I can really take my time with Zach
and we can go wherever we wanna go.
And nobody's like, hey, what are you gonna talk about this?
Yeah, halfway through that and it's great,
but I'll head out.
Yes, okay.
All right, Bobby, great to talk to you, okay?
All right.
Bye, Rob.
Bye. Okay, let's go to Derek. Okay
Hey Derek, how are you?
What's going on Rob? How we doing? I'm doing great. How are you? Oh, not too bad. Happy. It's Friday. Yes
Okay. Yeah, Friday is here and
What's on your mind?
Yeah, I was actually gonna ask the same question as 35 year old Chris.
So I've been jotting some notes
to see if I can make something up.
But I think, you know, one thing I've been seeing
in this first episode was I really like saw a lot
of connections between Thomas and John Lovett.
I was kind of worried for him
because he had a lot of confessionals that were,
I'm afraid, I'm not gonna fit in, right?
But he seems to be doing such a better job with it, right?
And for whatever reason, and in the parallels for them,
obviously gay guys, but also LA music industry podcasts,
not necessarily famous, but elevated in that sense.
I was curious what you thought the difference was
between them.
So I don't know what Thomas's age,
I think that there was like the John Lovett thing
was a little bit more of like a gender
Gap I feel like that
John Lovett was the oldest person on his tribe and it was trying to fit in and he was talking about how he was
On the tribe with Sam who's 24 and I think Rachel I think isn't her like a
mid
20s I think Annika's in her mid twenties. And like, it was just basically like a
young, I think maybe the second oldest person on that tribe might've been Andy, who's like in his
early thirties. So I think he felt very disconnected in terms of the age gap. Also, I think that in
terms like physicality, I think that Thomas is a like a a
more of a physical presence than John,
also in a tribe that maybe needs the
physicality less than
do you know, to vote out somebody else
like an Andy
in that spot who I think they were going
to be really outgunned.
So I think that Thomas had the better
social game than John, who's
a very funny guy. But I just feel Thomas had the better social game than John, who's a very funny guy, but
I just feel like that the social bonds weren't really there with John.
And then we saw that Thomas came in and made a, you know, three person Alliance pretty
early on.
And so I think he's just better situated.
Yeah, no, I mean, I agree.
I think it's, it's, it's right there, but it's just, it's surprising because I think, you know,
if, you know, John Lovett was coming to this game
and kind of, or Tom's coming into this game
and looking at, you know, Joe and Shaheen, right?
Like he's afraid, like, oh, I'm not going to fit in with them.
And I feel like John, like, almost felt
he was going to fit in with the people.
Like he wasn't afraid of that.
And he didn't have to, like, overcome that battle, I guess.
Yeah, I think the vibes were also better with Thomas in the ponderosa a lot
of people said they wanted to work with Thomas people said that they liked him I don't remember
anybody saying that they really liked John Lovett from the preseason and I think that Thomas really
we heard in his confession said I think that Kelly now Bandian had pointed this out on Twitter that he was really like
giving like different things to different people based off of what he was perceiving. They wanted to build social bonds.
Right. Yeah. So I think he's off to a good start.
Yeah. No, I think so, too. I love that tribe.
That tribe's great. Yeah. I want I don't want them to go.
I would feel awful. Star goes out pre-merge,
just cause like, I feel like she'd be great,
but she, so far she's on the bottom.
I feel like they're not going to tribal council anytime soon.
Yeah.
Good.
I'd be very happy with that.
Okay.
What else is going on, Derek?
Not too much.
It's my first time calling in by the way.
Where are you calling from?
Going to my first live, Boston. Oh! Can the way. Where are you calling from? Boston.
Oh. I already got tickets.
Yeah. OK. Have you been to Luigi's Pizzeria?
I have not. I've not been up that way, but it's on my list now.
I got to go check it out.
Mm hmm. OK. I do.
I want to see Justin in action and, you know.
OK. Well, Derek, don't be a stranger.
Great job with the call.
Absolutely. Thanks so much.
Take care. Appreciate it. All right. Bye. Okay. Well, let's go to somebody who has been to
Luigi's pizzeria. It's if you're new to the patron show, we have such a treat for you.
It's Mel Hooker.
Oh my God. Yes, Rob. Mel, how are you? Mel, we're twins today.
We both have the subscriber shirt.
It's only for subscribers. You can't buy the shirt unless you're subscribed to the podcast.
Yeah, it's only for, you know, people that pay to talk to Rob.
So, okay. Well, let me, I want to paint you guys a picture, right?
Don't tell Say. We drive into ale life. We get lost in the parking
garage. He's from Western New York. He's having a fit. I'm like, let's just get on the train.
The elevator's not working. My husband has knee issues.
Anyways, we get on the train, right? Anybody that's trying to get to Luigi's Pizza from the red line, you take the red line to the group,
well, no, to the green line, to the orange line,
to the blue line, and you get off at Beechmont.
So we get off at Beechmont, which is two stops away
from the like actual beach in Revere, right?
Blue line, never been on it, real nice.
Not gonna lie.
It's actually runs
way smoother than the Red Line or the Green Line, which both suck.
I think Red Line, Green Line, Blue Line. I think I voted for that for the buffs for Survivor
50.
Oh, great. There's also the Orange Line, which you have to get on to get to the Blue Line.
Well, if anybody needs help while you're here in Boston, I'm a subway guru. Even when drunk. Anyways, so we get
out and literally the only lights I can see as I step out of the Beechmont tea stop is
Luigi's Pizza. And I'm like, cool, right? I walk into this pizza place. It is about
like the counter is the size of the survivor coffee bar.
And the actual-
That's not that big?
And the seating area is probably,
it's smaller than tribal council for sure.
Okay.
About, there's eight tables that seat four and seven stools.
And I'm like, where the, is everybody?
I thought there was like a big party.
You thought it would be jam packed.
Come to find out that there was a big party
at the Asian place, Calhoun's in Medford
that 500 people were at, but I'm glad I didn't go.
Wait, does it had the party at an Asian restaurant?
Yeah, cause it was also Justin's 30th birthday.
Oh.
So it was so weird, but it was actually better because...
So it was me, there was four other people that came down that knew that he was on.
Okay.
So I ordered pizza and watch and leave.
Obviously I was the only one that was doing a four hour round trip.
So I stayed the whole time.
And the woman that was behind the bar, my husband
couldn't understand a word she was saying. Heavy Revere accent coming out of retirement
for that night because the whole family was at Calhoun's.
Right.
An hour and a half into the show, these two wicked Revereans come in and they're like,
oh, we just came from Calhoun's. It's you can't see anything or hear anything or do anything. The food's cold.
The pizza's cold. They had Chinese food. I am so happy that I'm here.
Calhoun's is a Chinese restaurant?
It's a Chinese restaurant. So they had 500 people at the Chinese restaurant upstairs
watching Survivor. Guess what I got to do? I got to sit with like six people. I was the
expert Survivor know it all of the night. I was the expert survivor, know it all, of the night.
I'm proud of you, Mel.
Tried to get some people to join RHAP,
told people about the Boston show,
you know, also had to explain to this wicked old lady
who was just there for chardonnay and soup with no noodles,
like what the show was.
And she was like, which one's Justin?
And I'm like, aren't you a regular?
Because like the only people there were regulars.
Like the people that left, I kid you not And I'm like, aren't you a regular? Cause like the only people there were regulars.
Like the people that left, I kid you not,
I'm trying to make this fast,
but the people that left the Chinese food place came in
and then they didn't get pizza,
which was their big mistake.
Cause the steak and cheese wasn't up to the normal standards
cause they had stand-ins for the night.
Let me tell you, I was there from seven o'clock to 10, 10 PM and it was the
greatest three hours of my life. Wow. The pizza, phenomenal. My husband's only qualm
is that they don't have honey mustard. What do you want to put honey mustard on? On the
onion rings. Okay. I don't know. But anyways, this is my swag pack. All I said was- Here, let me go full frame on Mel.
Okay.
So this is my survival QZ.
And it says, it says,
Justin's 30th birthday, survivor premiere.
I got my proof.
I got my, you know, my Luigi's pizza.
Menu, yeah.
Delicious.
I saw some of the pasta dishes come out.
They looked phenomenal.
Okay.
The sun shades.
And then I had a pen, but I had to drive to my friend's house 10 minutes away because
my wifi was cutting out.
Hence the weird background.
So I'm actually in LeMons to today.
Okay.
So you didn't get to meet Justin, but you met, you met somebody who came out of retirement
to work there and everybody knew who he was.
And I met people that know his family because they said, that was crazy.
Mel, would you go back?
Oh my God, 100%.
Even though it was four hours to get there.
Well, it was like, technically it might've been like three and a half, but my husband
walks really slow.
If it was just me, it would have taken three hours round trip, no qualms. And I did look up, if anybody wants to go while
they're in Boston, it's only for round trip T ticket, it's four bucks. And it's only about
eight stops away from park place, which is where the hotel is. Okay. So, and it's right there. Sorry. It was crazy.
Okay. So Sam was telling me it was very far away from where we're going to be.
Well, if you're trying to like walk or Uber, but if you like understand how the Charlie...
Okay. So you can might be able to lead the people on mass transit to go.
I would love to be the person. like what is the pilgrimage to Luigi's?
Like can I lead, you know?
Do I carry a cross?
Follow you into hell.
A giant pizza on a stick or something.
You need the Justin Pizza shirt, everybody follows you.
Oh, fun fact, they just put out a thing, you can go,
they're promoting going there.
Also, I'm glad I went because everybody that went to the other party
didn't even give money to Luigi's.
Yeah. You know, I'm like, at least with this, you know,
I know Kenzie didn't like people showing up at her work.
I think the pizza place likes it.
They love it. They love it.
And they want you to go and they have pizza hats.
They have pizza shirts.
They have pizza baseball caps, beanies,
they're like capitalizing on this.
Yeah, and I don't think Kenzie would have minded
if people were coming in to get their hair cut.
I think that people were just coming in and loitering.
Right, 100%.
So did I meet Justin?
No, but did I have delicious pizza?
Yes.
Would I go back to Luigi's?
Yes.
100 million percent.
What kind did you have?
I got their award-winning plain cheese pizza.
And it's really hard.
I'm very critical of cheese pizza.
My husband doesn't even like crust
and he ate all the crust.
So. Wow.
Even without honey mustard?
Even without the honey mustard.
It's pretty good.
I know.
Okay.
I'm exhausted, man.
Well, Mel, thank you for telling us that story.
I'm so happy. Yes. They sell the pizza shirt in the same color that he has it. FYI. So yeah.
How much? How much for the pizza shirt? I think it was, it's like the same as an
RHA P shirt. With like 20 bucks. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty good. So,
I mean, I'd rather have an RHA P shirt shirt, but you know Yeah, and your husband was is into this show as you were um
He was actually upset because there were some also some people there that were like not there to watch and he was like
He has bad hearing and he was like I can't hear what's happening
And he was too scared to ask the lady to put the captions on and I was like I'm talking to everyone
I mean what I had to rewatch the episode obviously, but. All right. Well, thank you for the story. Okay.
Anytime. I'll show, I don't know if I'll be back to call again soon, but I'll see everybody
in Boston and I'll bring my survivor. What do you have going on?
Well, I'm hopefully going to have a waitressing or bartending job at some point. So you might
not be around on Fridays.
You know, you know.
Okay.
All right.
Take care, Mel.
Okay.
Thank you, Rob.
Bye.
Okay.
All right.
Speaking of not being around,
next Friday, I am going to be going off to South by Southwest
and I'm gonna have a fill-in host for me on the Q&A.
So we're gonna keep the time.
Sam, I can say this, I can talk about this,
but filling in for me next week,
we have a treat for you.
What?
Just in the chat, just the one name.
Just wanna make sure you don't say two names.
Yeah, I got it, I got this, okay.
Owen Knight is gonna fill in for me next week.
So Q&A with Owen next Friday
while I'm gonna be off to South by Southwest.
I'm speaking on a panel.
I've never been there before.
So looking forward to that.
So I'm gonna be out next weekend.
I think that's the only podcast that's gonna be affected
is the Q&A next week.
And then I'll be back here in this spot
in two weeks time on Friday
But Owen will be taking your calls next Friday. All right
Let's go to
Marietta
Marietta, how have you been?
So happy to talk to you how you how have what have you been up to
I'm doing drama school. So it's been taking a lot of time.
Oh, okay. Yeah, it's a change in my direction but I wanted to do it so I took a risk. Yes, and you're still in
Greece? Yes, I'm still in Greece. Okay, alright. But you know, theater was born in Greece so that's good.
Yes, okay. So what's on your mind, Mariana? How can I follow my...
Well, yeah, we just have to, you know, somebody has to. Yes, someone has to be voted out first,
like Stephanie said. Yes, exactly. So a couple things. So since I am in Greece, I want to implore and ask for all the patrons that will hear
this call, I'm not able to vote on the Survivor 50 voting.
You want people to execute on your vision.
Okay.
So what do you want to campaign for?
Well, pretty much the basics, which is please live finale.
I don't want to see, I don't
think that that you have to worry about that one. I can't imagine anybody's like, Oh, I
actually like it when they, they eat the pizza. Yeah. I mean the, the reveal that the idol
wasn't real. It's good. I mean, yes, the reactions either way. Plus some very big drama moments have happened on life finale. Also, I want to campaign for
the two tribes. If it's an option, I'm not sure if it will be an option. I don't think
many people care about that a lot. The three tribe or to try format. I feel like we've
gotten a lot of three tribes and I feel like it's gotten pretty stagnant.
So I agree.
I would love to see two tribes, but I know that I feel like that there are really locked
in on three tribes.
Do you really think so?
I think so.
We'll see.
I mean, I guess it could be that with the, there's just three colors.
It could be two tribes and emerge and emerge a tribe. Yeah, maybe. And also the other thing, I don't think they will put on the ballot, but if
it is the 39 days, I wanted to go to this week though, they're not going to do that.
They're not going to do it. Oh, okay. So that was the one thing. The other thing I wanted
to ask you and please be honest with me, and if you've discussed this,
I haven't caught up to the Noddles yet because I just watched the episode.
Okay.
I, and please don't judge me, I eat my steak medium well.
Okay. All right.
Does that make me a psychopath?
So I've been thinking a lot about this because that came up,
I think it was a sociopath this because that came up I think
it was a sociopath who has a... So now do you put any sort of like steak sauce on
there or like a barbecue sauce like Bobby? And now say this is a culture thing in
Greece we eat it pretty plain without sauces. Yeah. We have good meat here.
Good meat.
And I look, I have no judgment.
I think my father-in-law is also very much in the like, he wants it cooked very well.
And my sister-in-law.
So, whereas my mother-in-law used to say, I want it to still be mooing.
Yeah, that's my dad.
So why am I so super? I don't know.
I guess you're... let your freak flag fly, they say. Fly the freak flag high.
I accept people who eat their steak any different way.
I feel same.
Yeah.
So yeah, I think it's okay.
But maybe I don't know like maybe to answer the question, like maybe
just like say if you're not actually ordering the food, maybe just
say medium.
Okay, because if people are going to judge over. Okay. You mean
if I ever get a. If you ever get the steak or burger question. Yeah. Just play it safe.
Yeah. Okay. If you're not actually ordering the food. They'll judge me on the burger question
because I ate the burger pretty plain plain like just the meat and cheese
Yeah, that's like how my sons want it
Okay. Yes. Mm-hmm. It's a kid's menu version. I get that. Yeah
And I had another thought I
Justin reminded me of someone. Yes who and
Well, I'm not saying he reminded me totally of that someone because that someone had also
a bit of controversy linked to them, but like the face, the vibe, the pizza.
Macrae.
Okay, I can see that.
That I'm just trying to think it through in my head and yeah he has longer hair than McRae
yeah he said to Mike that um his hair was shorter and he let it out after the barber thing
yeah I could say McRae was a little bit goofier than Justin who went to Yale who is like seemed like a little bit more
straight-laced but yeah I could see the look certainly. Yeah he doesn't give off Yale vibes
and that's totally a stereotype. I think that's good. Yes that is good for him but I can be I can see him also being that
kind of like laid-back social I'm gonna let them eat themselves. Kind of. Now, do you think that he'll find the show man's like McCrae?
Ooh, who could be the Amanda without the controversy? Hopefully.
I don't know. Maybe if not Mary, then I don't know. I don't see say,
And I don't see say, maybe somebody from the other tribes. Maybe like say, say, say, I'm not sure.
Say, yeah.
Yes.
Okay.
Say.
I mean, look, I'd ship it.
That'd be wild.
But yeah, overall, it was a very good premiere.
I had a lot of fun watching it.
Yeah.
Do you remember all the names yet? Yeah, it's a very good premiere. I had a lot of fun watching it. Yeah.
Do you remember all the names yet?
Yeah, it's only week one.
I don't want to give people too much homework.
No, you see, I watched the draft
and the pre-season interviews with Mike
and those were a lot of fun.
Also, I'm hoping that the Amazon shout out
and the clip from the premiere
bodes well for your chances for 50. I don't know. I hope you got the call.
From your lips to God's ears, Mariana.
I hope you've gotten the call. I hope you're going hard there.
I'll be waiting. Yes.
We'll bear it. We have a season without you.
Maybe it needs Kristi Smith is going.
Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.
That'd be exciting. Maybe I'm with you. That's it. That's it. Let's go. Let's go
Yeah Yeah, but you have to market it though. You hit the rivals. I have to play it up. Yeah.
So, who's my rival?
Chad, who's my rival?
I don't know.
Tyson.
Yeah.
Okay, Spencer Pratt, Michael says.
Oh, Mike White.
Please, Mike White.
It would make the Wine Interview a canon. Please, Mike White. Please, Mike White. It would make the wine interview canon.
Please, Mike White.
Yeah, Steven. So, all right, Marietta, thank you so much. Okay, glad to hear you back.
I feel like it's been years since we got into talk.
Okay, don't be dramatic. It hasn't been years.
When did we last talk?
I feel like we talked last season. Big Brother? In Big Brother?
We talked in the Survivor?
No, last Survivor season, I feel like, yeah.
It's been a bit more difficult to watch it live,
so that's why I watch all the things.
I want to reassure everyone,
I'm a bit more laid back in the participating,
because I can't catch it live.
Okay, all right, Marietta, thank you so much, okay?
Love you all.
All right, take care, bye.
Bye.
All right, let's go to Tanner.
Tanner, how are you?
I'm good, Rob, how are you doing today?
Doing great, what's happening?
Not that much, I enjoyed the premiere.
It was a good premiere,
good way to start out the season, that's for sure.
Yeah, it was a fun start.
I mean, I don't think it was like earth shattering.
I think that probably like in terms of like ranking the premieres,
I think probably the forty seven premier I think was better.
I think it probably goes to the fort.
And I think maybe the forty six premier might have been better also.
I just say that not to say that this was bad,
but I think you had like
Jalinski and Everything in the 46 premiere and yet Andy's meltdown
So I think it's probably for me third out of the last three, but you know still good better than 45
Yeah, yes, anything is better than 45 at this point. Yeah, but
I think this was you know a very good new era premiere.
Yeah, because nothing too crazy happened,
but it wasn't boring either.
Yeah, yeah, it wasn't like,
the tribal council wasn't like an all-timer
or anything like that.
I think if Seig got voted out with the idol,
I think it's completely different,
but it was a great introduction to everybody yeah for sure people are asking what's
your buff in the chat it's the merge buff for last season okay nobody guessed
that and yeah but I have a couple couple quick questions um first I did I did feel
really bad that Stephanie went out first I think she got really unlucky with the
tribe that she got put on I feel like if she had got put in on a tribe like log, yeah, I think
she would have had a better results, but you know, she got put on a tribe that was physically
weaker than the other two. And also it didn't help that she got put on a tribe would say
who she had a little bit of beef with in the pregame.
Hey, but that's survivor baby, you know? Yeah, I almost wonder like, what? I almost wonder like if the
outcome would have been different if Say's idol had not
come into play. Like, do you think that Kevin and Justin
would have made the same choice had Say not found the idol and
had Justin Kevin not found out about her idol?
Yeah, I think potentially because that I think said
they said Cedric was very much want to stick with Say
because she had the idol.
And so I think that they did not want to burn Cedric.
Yeah, and I also think it's so risky to shoot
to take a shot at someone with an idol that early on
especially when Say is proven to be like such
a aggressive player and you know, coming out of the gates blazing.
So she came out hot.
She came in hot and I didn't feel super hot on social media too.
Yeah, I didn't feel super great about Say during the pregame and her premiere episode
did not make me feel that much better.
But we'll see.
But we'll see with her.
She is making a lot of drama.
So I am thankful for her, say.
Yes, we are.
I'm thrilled that she's here.
I'm thrilled that she's here, too.
She's going to make, I think she's going to make good TV,
however long she lasts.
But my other question centers around the Loggie Tribe
and the California girls,
because obviously Shaheen, Thomas, and Joe,
they're a type three right now,
but they also have their side deals
and they're kind of debating about
who they want to bring in as their fourth.
Thomas wants Bianca, but Joe really wants Eva.
So my question to you is,
if you're in that California Girls Alliance,
which of those two girls would you find more valuable
to keep around as the fourth?
I think that.
It's different for all the different guys, I think.
I think it's certainly Joe wants to keep Eva.
I think Thomas wants to keep Bianca.
We don't really know what Shaheen wants to do.
Yeah, that's that. That's the thing.
Like, I can't really get a good read on what Shaheen wants.
Like, does does I kind of have
a feeling that he might like even more based on the fact that, you know, Bianca wasn't
really like a part of that. Like, yeah, I'm trying to see what are you saying? The preseason.
Let me go back to Shaheen and Shaheen said, as I flipped through my index cards, that he, let's see, who did he like?
He liked Santa Barbie. I think that was, or that, no, he said, no, that was no good. He
liked Joe and I don't know. I'm trying to think of who else. He liked captain America
and he liked Mary captain America would be David. David, right?
Yes. Yes. OK.
And the smallest person, I'm not sure if that's maybe Bianca.
So, yeah, I don't really have a clear sense of who he loves.
Yeah, I do appreciate Steven giving the fishy to Eva though.
That was a very, that was a well-deserved fishy right there.
Yes, Steven made some good points.
Yeah, I know this is early,
but I see Eva and Joe going very, very far together
because that type of bonding right there,
that can carry you a very long way in the game.
So I think that
was good. That was good for them.
Yeah. Okay. We'll see. Yeah. But otherwise, Tanner, the amazing race is calling.
Yes. That'd actually be a really good amazing race pair. Got me excited now.
Yeah. But amazing race 39. Here we come.
Yeah. But I know I have to wrap
up here. So I'll go ahead and go and you have other people to call. So I'll talk to you.
I'll talk to Owen. I'm getting ready. I'm excited to talk to Owen next week. So, all
right. Looking forward to it, Tanner. Take care. Have a good one. Bye. All right. You
too. Bye. Okay. Okay. Let's go to, okay.
Steven has some props. Okay. Steven, how are you? Hey Rob, how's it going? It's
going great. What's happening? Not much like, like the past people have said it's Friday
TGIF. TGIF. Yeah. And I just want to say now here's the guy who unlike Shoheen was so excited
for the premiere of season 48 that I forgot to eat my own lunch.
Yes.
Yes, there you go.
Anyway, Rob, one of the first things I want to say to you, I have a question, I got a
little prediction and then to close it out as always, like I like to do, who's going
to get the next episode title?
Okay, question, prediction, title.
Okay.
Who to you? I know we had a lot of like predictions based
on the preseason interviews with Mike white, the bios, Mike blue, but based on Mike bloom,
not Mike white, Mike bloom, who to you was the most surprising cast away from the premiere. Who exceeded expectations from the premiere?
Good question.
To me, hmm, who is the person?
I think it might be Sey, I think,
who was an even bigger personality
than I would have thought.
I didn't see Sey going out and finding the idol and then really dictating the tribe vote. So I think it's say otherwise I feel like
that we had everybody else clocked pretty well. If anything, there were a few people
that were more quiet than we thought like charity. But I think that say was the person
that probably did a lot more than I was expecting.
Yeah, and shout out, shout out Rob's fact checker, survivor fact checker, he posted today or yesterday,
say had the most confessionals in an episode with 21,
but Tony still holds the record for most confessionals
in a 60 minute episode.
I think with 18, I'm not sure.
Don't fact check me on that one.
What was it? The, what did they do to Tony?
The, the black male, I forget what they, what they call that.
Oh, the extortion.
The extortion, I'm being extorted.
Yeah.
Extortion.
Yeah.
It's extortion, bro.
For me, I have two I want to highlight just because Joe, Joe was going to seem like a
big leader and his tribe.
And I want to give his kudos to how he handled not only Eva's relationship, but also the California girls
Mm-hmm. What a great what a great tribal or what a great alliance name that was
But two people that stuck out to me Cedric Cedric started from the bottom now. We're here
I can't believe I I didn't think he was gonna have this much
Agency or in oh, I thought Cedric had a quiet premiere I can't believe I didn't think he was going to have this much agency or influence in the game.
I kind of thought Cedric had a quiet premiere.
He had a quiet premiere, but if you look through the fine details, Rob, he helps say dramatically
with the idol. He cracks that code literally immediately before he even writes down the sixth
letter. He gets listen. He helps say, gets the idol. And also he just is a calm voice of reason
in the tribe. I see him actually now making it to merge.
I didn't think he would make it to the merge preseason,
but played off really strongly.
I think he's in a good spot.
I can't see the guys turning on him.
I can't see Say wanting him out.
So I feel like that Cedric is pretty well insulated.
And then the other person I want to give kudos to
is Thomas on Loggy.
He actually comes up with the name for California Girls. And despite his
preseason expectations, he's in that alliance with two other guys and he has Bianca as a close
number one. So let's see if he can keep Bianca close to him past like a first tribal or not.
But he was amazing. Great social game. Strategically places himself in that three. And also just great
comic relief with the weakest link
confessional and also what he says in passing to Bianca about this is a building of shelters, maybe the kinkier things I've done with two guys. That was hilarious. But that's all I wanted to say
those two were especially surprising to me. Unlike Beard Guy, like I knew coming into the season,
Beard Guy was going to have quotes. He was going to have gameplay. That's going to be exciting to watch.
Announce of preparation saves a pound of perspiration.
I'm going to save that in my own book in my real life. Yeah.
But just to give a little scouting report here,
maybe somebody that didn't have the biggest premiere
and I forget the patron who said this, maybe Ben.
But who was the Genevieve, right?
Who's going to be the Genevieve of the season?
You have the props out here, maybe you think it's got Justin.
Yeah, now Luigi, baby. Now Luigi.
Yes, we've got the pizza wheel, the pizza peel, the pizza wheel.
Hey, we got a you got a you got a.
Yeah, I thought he was my winner pick. But yeah, I thought he had kind of a quiet premiere,
especially for a tribe that went to tribal council.
He has a quiet premiere, but listen like how he strategically places with Kevin in the middle.
He's dictating which way he wants to go.
And sometimes you need to have a little bit more quiet of a premiere to let your rest of your game.
Yeah. To the to the fan.
He's really hitting the references to the restaurant pretty hard.
Very heavy on that.
Was he taking inventory?
What is he making combinations of different slices?
But it's all, it's all fun in the game.
And Sam's telling me to, to wrap up here.
So Rob episode two, the title is humble traits.
Do you have any predictions on who's going to say Humble Traits?
Who has Humble Traits? Nobody is jumping to mind, but I'm going to guess David.
David. Talking about himself or talking about someone else?
Talking about himself, but maybe tongue in cheek.
So I actually took this in the opposite way where it's going to be somebody sarcastically talking about someone else.
I can easily see Vula maybe going back to tribal council and we get one of the guys, maybe Cedric or Justin or Kevin,
talking about maybe Sey and how she's very over the top with wanting to speak her mind
and maybe sometimes that mind gets her into trouble.
But I can also see Shohin.
They predict, they led this in the next time on Survivor
that there's some maybe like some mischief going on
in Laghi.
Maybe Shohin's talking about Star looking for the idol
when she doesn't necessarily need to.
Maybe, we'll see.
I didn't really look at the next time on too closely closely yet Yeah, so that's speculation for another day. All right other questions
I have people can hit their authority spoken about her answer in the future of a Rob
Fantastic get the chance to talk to you again. Always great Stephen and have a great weekend. Okay, you do. Thank you. Bye. Okay
All right. Let's go to Tommy Guam is here Tommy
Tommy how are you?
Buddy we were in the classic. I love New York
Come on, I love Guam
Myself
Different room than you normally call me from this is my living room behind me I usually call you from in there, but the wife's working right working okay. Yeah, nothing. I feel like this is a different room than you're normally calling me from. So this is my living room behind me.
I usually call you from in there, but the wife's working right there.
She's working, okay.
Yeah.
How's your day going?
It's going good.
Now that it's Friday, I'm home, so it's good.
So I talk a little survival, right Rob?
I missed you at the beach drop.
That was so much fun.
I went to the-
Oh, you were there early?
Yeah, I was there from noon to 1.
Yeah, I got there.
I took my flight from Raleigh.
My flight was like a 10ish.
I left my house at 830.
I love the Raleigh airport.
Nice medium sized airport.
I got to like I went to the air train at Penn Station.
I was like, should I go check in at the hotel?
Like Sam and Brandon were like, no, just come right here.
Yeah, I saw Brandon Dillon Sam I got there like 1 30
That's not oh, yeah
I must have just missed that because we got out at one then we just went yeah something to eat and drink and stuff
And then I got there and there's like a whole line of people and I was like do I need to go on the line?
No, I'm right in the middle
And then they were like they got the girl was like I'm sorry. Who are you? I'm like, my name is Rob I was I was in the middle and then they were like, they got, the girl was like, I'm sorry, who are you?
I'm like, my name is Rob.
I was on the show like a very long time ago,
but I was like, do I need to go on the line?
Like, she didn't know anything about like,
but I was on the show.
And then finally somebody came out
and then they looked at the names.
And Dwight Moore was with me.
And then he's with me also.
Here's Dwight.
And they got us in.
That's it.
That's a good movie.
Well, I was going.
I was online.
I was right at the front.
And Mary was there.
She was like, I'm trying to get in.
They wouldn't let her in.
I was like, no, she's on the show.
That's Mary.
And she's like, how do you know I am?
And I was like, we haven't even seen her on TV yet at the time.
So it was just funny. Who'd you talk to? Everybody? I talked to a few people. I talked to Mary. I
talked to Shaheen Shaheen Shaheen a couple other people. I mean, the highlight was seeing Sandra
and Tony though for me. I really enjoyed seeing them. Yeah, it was great. As soon as I walked in,
I saw Tony's like, oh
I was surprising, you know, so there was a big life and I did somebody a couple I did the challenge the
Rollerball challenge. Yeah
Crying at one point he was doing like a Carolyn impression, but his carol impression was like when he does the llama
Yeah, yeah, no that was a Tony's. Tony was a good guy. Yeah, he really
got a really nice and personable and everything. So cute is there. So it was just fun. So I
saw us read it, but she they shuffled the right by the audience like nobody even seen
it came in. It was just so funny. I heard him. She was taking pictures with people.
Yeah, I think she came out. She came right when we were leaving pretty much. Yeah. Yeah,
that was really fun though. Oh, if I should If I suggest if anybody, if that's in everybody's area,
go check it out.
It's really fun time.
So, but let's talk some new Survivor, Rob.
Is there a difference between what Say did
and what Ness, a little Australian Survivor spoke, and Ness?
So, Say didn't wear the idol.
Say didn't come out and say, like, I have the idol, everybody.
And say I think did a better job than Nash was doing.
And this is only the first episode.
I haven't seen the second week of Australian Survivor
if I catch up.
But yeah, so I think that there was much more pushback
against Nash than say.
Yeah, without a doubt.
It was just kind of the same situation.
Does everybody, did Marion, Stephanie know that Say has the idol? against Nash than say. Yeah, without a doubt. It was just kind of the same situation. Does
everybody? Did Marion, Stephanie know that Sey has the idol? I don't think so. Yeah.
I wonder if anybody told them. You know, but yeah, I just thought that would be a funny
comparison a little bit, you know, because it kind of the same situation. I think if
maybe there was a bigger tribe that Sey wouldn't have gotten away with it, though, you know.
Yeah, I think that in those small tribes where one person has an idol, we saw this
was Rome last season. What do you do? Like, it's like, there's no other, no other moves
to make. Yeah, exactly. So I think that's another reason to get rid of a smaller shot
in the dark time. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that that Stephanie played it right, but yeah,
there's not a ton of other things you can try
Tribe and say is being like that. All right. Well, who else is say close with? Yeah, exactly. Exactly
See you later Cedric. Sorry, you know, but
Whatever it is, you know, yeah, actually I was really impressed with Cedric Tuto as a step Stephen was saying I thought Cedric had a good episode just calm demeanor and everything like that, you know helped
Helped say guide or got her away and I think that I think those three guys could actually get together a
little bit too on that job I really do love the California girls I think that's
a great try right I think I think that that that's gonna be a good alliance
what else we got going on I was driving home I'm really worried about Mary like
I said I met Mary Mary was great personality. She's a little firecracker, amazing person. I had the same winter pick
as you. I got to, I got to listen to the back and hear Mel Hook's story about the whole
thing.
Going to Luigi's pizza.
I just called the girl Lendevitz. It doesn't sound like she really made it there. I don't
even know what was going on.
She did make it.
Oh, all right. All right. I wasn't sure where she was. What else? And then Josh Kettle's
story. I caught that a little bit.
I just wanted to shout out to Josh Kettle.
He's a great person, does great stuff.
So, you know, it was a moment for him.
And it's funny how Survivor touches people
and stuff like that.
So it just, you know, Josh is a good dude, so yeah.
That's about it.
I'm gonna see you in a month about Rob, so.
Okay, well I'm sure we'll talk before then.
Yeah, without a doubt.
I don't want Stan to yell at me, so.
Okay, all right. Tommy, thank you so much, okay? No problem, you have then. Yeah, without a doubt. I don't want to stand there yelling at me. All right, Tommy.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome.
You have a good day, Rob.
Take care.
Okay.
Let me go to Michael, who's in the car.
Hey, Michael, how are you?
I'm doing great.
How are you?
Doing fantastic, Michael.
What's happening?
Well, I love the premiere.
Great season so far.
Love the cast.
So I had a question that Brando
had brought up in the chat BCC. Yes. What did he say? So he was asking about the beware advantages,
about how each tribe it feels like has a different puzzle that they have to do and whether that's
actually fair or not because it gives each tribe potentially a different chance
of having an idol at the merge.
If one puzzled harder than the other,
or if they're just different in some way.
And I wanted to know what you thought about that.
Yeah, so I think I heard Jeff talk about this on Fire
and he talked about how Team Flint is the group
that does that.
And I think Jimmy Quigley, I think is the person
who was on the panel, who is talking about like,
what like Team Flint makes up these missions
for the episodes of like finding the idols that they do.
And so I think that what he said was they wanted a thing
that was gonna be that they could do
different variations of for each tribe. So basically, each tribe would have a similar mission,
but it wouldn't be the same exact thing for the viewer to watch three times. So I don't know if
things are like, much harder. Like I think it's basically like three different flavors of the same
type of thing and so maybe one is a little bit harder than the other
version but it shouldn't be much harder than what the other tribes are doing.
Yeah, I think I like the fact that they're different slightly because it's
not just watching the same thing over and over again like we saw. I think it
was like in the early 40s. I feel like we had that where we just kept
for each tribe watching the bee thing,
and like all this stuff, the same thing over and over again.
So I like the fact that it's different.
So as long as it's the same difficulty level.
I think it's this, hopefully the same difficulty level,
but slightly different.
And you saw from, it seemed like that the
purple tribe didn't really get into it.
They seemed like, or at least that wasn't part of their story.
The orange tribe, we saw them uncovering.
There were animal symbols, but there were also letters that they were finding.
So that's like a little bit different than what we saw from having to deal
with what they found, where she had the cryptogram,
I don't know if that's even the right word for what she had,
but that the animal symbols were painted on things,
but there were no letters painted on things.
Yeah, and it seems like I think with the orange tribe,
all the letters are the same color, are all black.
It's all black.
So it seems like it's gonna be a similar sort of like,
figure out the letters and then unscramble the word
But I think that maybe the animal symbols are you know are adding something
I mean like maybe they have like some sort of combination lock
Where the animal symbols are like what they have to put them in the right order
Yeah, and I like the game at least the one that we saw with the Green Tribe. I really liked it.
I like the fact that now it's a lot harder, it seems like, to get an idol.
And I feel like there was a time when the Russell hands days were so easy.
And I think it needs to be like a team effort.
I don't know if you'd be able to do what Say did just by yourself.
Yeah. And I like that, too.
And I like that she had to go all the way around camp and run around everywhere
because, you know, there's some risk involved.
You need to have cover to be able to pull this off.
Yeah. So I liked it.
And then, yeah, I agree with you.
I think that it'll be fun to see what the other games are
that they have to, the other tribes have to do.
And yeah, I enjoyed the premiere.
Cool. How's everything else going for you?
Everything is great.
Just living life and working. And that's why I'm in my car. Just kind of step out for a second to come talk to you while I have the chance since it'll be a couple weeks.
Okay. All right. Well, Michael, have a great weekend and hopefully not too many weeks. Okay.
Yes. All right. Love you, Bay.
Okay. All right. And then I've got Jake on hold Jake
Rob can you hear me? Yes, Jake, what's happening? How's it going?
Patron first time calling in. All right, Jake. It's great to hear from you
I love to hear from patrons who have been with us
Look, I love to hear from any new people, but I love to hear from people that have been around and have been quiet.
Listen, happy to be here, all right?
I've been a patron for like four years, university student.
I don't have time to call into these shows
usually on Friday, but I'm studying right now
for midterm and I saw you go live and I was like,
you know what, I'm gonna have fun in the background.
Okay, Jake, where do you go to school?
I go to Binghamton.
Oh, okay.
So, you're at home.
Yes, similar to myself.
I went to the, they call it now Oswego State University.
Oh, I've heard of it.
I've heard of it.
I'm listening to this.
I just accepted a job offer right by your old stomping grounds
at Hicksville, Long Island.
Oh, okay, nice.
I know, right?
Yes. Pretty crazy.
But this is probably the quickest call-in you're gonna have today. I don okay. No, right. Yes crazy. But this is probably the quickest Colin you're gonna have today
I don't really have a question. It's more of like an overall suggestion
I have for the subtitle of Survivor 50. Okay in the hands of the fans is way too early
I'm not on board. You don't like it. Yeah, I'm not on board. So I've come up with something instead
So you've probably seen a line when we're abbreviating titles for seasons. We go I love the idols
I oh I right so some people even call it survivor. I oh I things like that
Survivor 50 I think everyone needs to get on the bandwagon of calling it survivor 50 I hoff you drop all the buds
Just like you do for island
You drop all the thes just like you do for Island of the Idols. So in the hands of the fans.
I-I-the-huff?
I-huff. Like I-hop?
Yeah, but the-
You just drop the thes?
So you wanna go drop the-in the?
Yes. Well, no, no, no.
In hands of fans.
We're just dropping the thes.
Like we do for Island of the Idols. I-O-I.
You drop the the.
You drop the the. Keep the hands of the fans.
Keep the four, drop the one.
Exactly.
IHOP?
Survivor IHOP?
Survivor 50 IHOPs.
Listen, it's so much work.
I do think it's a little wordy.
Right?
We need some sort of solution,
and if it's not that, I'm open to other ideas,
but nobody I feel like is tackling this problem face on,
so I figured I'd be the first one.
Yeah.
What do you think of something more more like survivor like people's choice?
Yeah, I mean that's fine. That's fine. Something like that.
I don't know. I don't know. That's all I got.
Yeah, okay.
I feel like that we could like
Survivor tally the votes like what do you think of that?
That's good. That's perfect. You need to something all just right now maybe it's not too late yeah I'm willing
to to concede for survivor 50 tally the votes you know okay all right well thanks
for getting back to studying okay all? All right, I will. All right. Bye. Okay. All right.
Angie is here.
Angie, how are you?
I look like an old lady.
I'm good.
I'm good.
Well, we could,
we don't have to be as close if you don't want, okay?
Sometimes when people have like the vertical call,
I say, okay, I don't want them to be so tiny.
That just shocked me there, Rob.
Sorry, Angie.
I'll be quick. I have to run fast but um. Yes
Angie can I just ask you you have such an interesting background. You said that last time I was here Rob.
I'm sorry. This was my second time. No I am actually very honored that you noticed again.
Yes remind me so what is a what's on the wall there cupcakes? Cup? Cupcakes. Yes. Are you in a bakery? I'm a baker.
Yes.
Well, I just like to bake and eat my baking.
Okay.
Amateur baker. Professional survivor watcher.
Same.
Oh, no. I don't get paid for it. So quick thing. Is it too late in February to say happy
birthday on 15 years?
Oh, no. no, definitely not.
It's so look, it's it's our year long celebration all year long.
Oh, that's true. That's true.
So, yes, I've been there since the beginning and wouldn't have survived
many moments without it. So thank you.
I could go on and on, but people have said the words way wiser
than I have over the past few weeks. So thank you so much.
You're welcome.
The era. So I heard Jeff say eras many times
at the Saturday event.
Do you think the tribes will be era based?
Well, you know, the challenge did that with the challenge
of 40, right? They brought back 10 people from each era.
So I don't think that survivor is going to like it's not like
that 50 is a number that's like divisible by three.
So I don't know necessarily how they would divide up 50 unless
there were, you know, I don't know, five tribes of five or
something like I don't know how to four five tribes of four.
I don't think that they could do it for survivors.
So it would be that word so many times.
I thought, yeah, that's you know, look, I think that Jeff is like in the weeds right now of trying to figure this out.
So that is a good observation to pick up on the language that he's using.
Like, I definitely do think that there's a version of three tribes could be, you know, old school, like old school, middle school, like new school.
I think they need to come up with what the branding is
for the middle era of Survivor.
I think it could go to Heroes, Villains, and then to 40.
And then- Yeah, I think you could do it.
I think you could do one through 20,
21 through 40, or 39, and then the new era.
Like, I think you could probably do it like, one through 40 or 39 and then the new era.
Like I think you could probably do it like, like the classic era, the big moves era and the new era.
I think that's probably better branding
than the new era or the middle ages.
Agree, agree.
I just thought I'm paying attention to Jeff Moore
because he does drop those things and I thought-, I did about a million interviews this week. Oh, I heard him, you
know, talk about hands of the fans. So is that what's going to be on the buff and stuff?
Or I, oh, okay. But did you like what I just came up with a survivor tally the vote? No,
I know. Oh, you didn't hear it.
Well, what do you think about that for the name of
survivor 50? Would that be better?
Survivor 50 tally the vote?
No. No. What do you like?
I like arrows, actually.
OK, I don't know.
I'm not a T.
Swifter, but that certainly has a lot of
traction. So, yeah. Yeah. I want to make T swifter, but that certainly has a lot of traction. So yeah.
Yeah. I want to make it about that. The fans are voting.
Yeah. Yeah. And voting is open, isn't it? I've been open today, but yeah.
Yeah. It was so fun to watch. Watch.
I listened on my commute in the Wharton burger brothers debate.
Oh yeah. I told the team like, Hey, let's cut that out and put that out as its own thing, because the Wharton
Burger, Wharton Burger Brothers debating the Survivor 50 vote was very fun on the Zach podcast.
Well, and Zach found it in at first. And I thought, you know, then he got competitive.
Yeah, they are fun. And so if when the batches come out of voting, they have to come back on and do their
job.
OK, we'll keep it all year long.
Yeah.
We don't know when the next votes are coming out.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah, that's OK.
We're like the players.
We have to stay on our toes.
That's right. That's right.
So, you know, I just wanted to pop on again because I, I was free.
And so I, how long have you gone today so far?
We're only closing in on two hours.
Okay. All right. Well, I'll let other people get out of it. You have a great weekend.
Thank you so much, Angie. Take care. Bye.
Bye bye.
