So let's get in to this week's Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News.
Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News.
Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News. Survivor News.
Okay guys, we are back with a bonus coverage of the Survivor News.
Today, Wendell, Bryce, and myself wanted to jump on and talk a little bit of Survivor
50.
I mean, there's been some topics trending, and we've also had this really exciting fan
vote going on throughout the season.
So we just kind of wanted to get into the fan vote.
I think there's seven different topics over two different votes and kind of just give our two cents on each and see where we stand on this Survivor 50
Survivor News. Jack, well, I know Bryce, I'm sorry to cut you off and I know that
we want to get into this fan vote. Okay. But the Survivor Twitter streets are
talking and this wouldn't be Survivor news without us talking about what's going on.
We're talking about season 50.
The Twitters are talking about season.
I mean, you know, I don't be on Twitter a lot, but I haven't
seen a thing or two.
Can you keep I was elaborate.
What do you want to dive into?
I mean, I'm very so the only thing I'd say is I've seen people tweeting and whatnot about.
Well, I saw Tyson's tweet
and Tyson says something like after ghosting me for five years,
CBS has finally called me and said, I'm on Survivor 50.
That was a hilarious tweet. That was great.
And then I've seen some other tweets or posts essentially saying that people have been cut.
Right. And from off the top of my mind, I'll throw some names and then we could discuss. I mean, I remember I saw Jesse, Carolyn, Rome, Raymond Bledsoe, formerly known as Spencer, chimed in.
There was some more, right?
Did I see a tweet from Carla?
I think I saw something.
I think there was a tweet from Carla.
Basically, I guess you're right.
The gist of it was a lot of players and it seemed kind of like all around the same day about a week and a half ago,
where they all found out they had been cut from season 50,
which yet, and then I've been seeing some rumored cast,
but I don't know exactly what is true or what isn't true.
I did hear a rumor that there was only three new era players
that were going to be on 50,
which I have to say really surprised me.
It seems like they went a little bit more old school.
Yeah. Yeah.
What do you think about this?
First of all, all the people that we named would be awesome to see on 50
or some kind of returning season.
I'll go in a little hot.
You know, no, absolutely.
What I was saying was when we went to that Survivor 48 premiere
and Jeff Probst was there and I felt like Jeff was talking about how
they cast the best people and that he doesn't like it when shows steal
their other people, i.e. the traitors.
But he is getting more open to it.
I at that moment was jumping for joy
because I felt like he was directly talking about a Carolyn.
And when you think of Survivor 50,
and obviously I would imagine that it is old versus new
versus new school, like Carolyn is a player that is amazing and dynamic and is a trailblazer.
And I would have thought like, oh, he's saying Carolyn's going to be on there.
And then to see Carolyn tweet to her story like, hey, my dates for the summer are open.
Anybody looking for me, I'm around.
That was really disheartening.
Also for me, Jesse Lopez, I'm like, wait, what's going on?
He, to me, he's a first ballader.
It's like his game.
This man is a player.
You know, like this man is brilliant.
He's got a story. Yeah, he's, um, he's one of those.
Yeah, he's one of those that I wouldn't want to be on an island with, you know,
but I'd love to watch every season. So to see them all kind of tweeting,
Rome, great character, amazing character, love them or hate them.
Boom, great character, amazing character. Love him or hate him.
And again, I say that to say,
Rome is polarizing.
People either love him or hate him.
And in my opinion, that is what I want to see on TV, right?
Like I think sometimes people get confused,
like, oh, you want to love everybody?
No, also what they say, any press is good press.
Like if you have a knee jerk reaction to somebody,
whether it's good or bad,
then that means they've invoked some emotion from you.
And Rome was great.
You know, T-Mu or not, Rome was great.
Yeah, there's a few layers of like discussion here.
The first one I guess would just be like,
there's a lot of-
I have a layer.
Well, one layer is like-
I got a layer.
Yeah, because we didn't, Bryce, we didn't see your tweet.
Oh.
So, you know, like not everybody that tweeted-
That is a layer.
I didn't need everyone that tweeted about it
to be on Survivor 50.
And there's a lot of people like,
they reached out to a bunch of people
and I'm not gonna name names,
but they reached out to a bunch of people.
That's not even Shade.
There's so many people that probably got cut
and didn't feel the need to tweet about it,
which I will say, like that's kind of the name of the game.
I get people feeling upset, but it's kind of what you sign up for. And I haven't been
on Survivor, but that's happened with other shows. I cast reality TV. You saw you. But
but what I will say is obviously there's a lot of great. Basically, I mean, there's a
great pool of attorneys for a returning season like Survivor 50. You
could go all the way back to season one and have great
people. So look, not everyone can be on what I will the
thing that really I spent an evening just kind of fuming
about was as a survivor fan is you spent the evening. I
spent a night I remember the night I was sitting in bed and you know, I was looking at my god, Jesse's
story and I and I Jesse's this is my boy and I was just like, man, I really feel for Jesse
because you think new era survivor it is Jesse Lopez is on that new era Mount Rushmore for
me.
And so was it Carolyn.
And so you think about those two, it's, it's,
and you then you hear that there's this rumor that, and we don't know for sure if it's true
or not, but only three new era people are going to be on Survivor 50. And they spent
so much time sort of creating this new era, trying to allegedly build up these big new
characters and they didn't have a returning season for 10 seasons,
you would have to imagine, okay,
this new era is gonna come to a head
and really like give us a new era sort of all stars
or a new era versus old era or whatever it may be.
So now it's like, why did we have nine seasons
with a lot of great characters,
or we're going to have nine, obviously nine seasons with a lot of great characters or we're going
to have nine, obviously 49 with a lot of great characters, but then we're only going to use
three of them and not use the likes of a Jesse or Carolyn so that we can see XYZ play for
the seventh time.
And I feel like I heard that this was maybe a CBS decision ultimately.
So I don't even want to put shade on survivor production,
but it's like, it just doesn't really make sense to me.
Like why it doesn't make any sense to me.
And that's what I get frustrated about.
I mean, this also is from the same place
that gave us the hourglass.
And they, I think that was more a production decision
than a CBS decision.
So what I'm saying is,
and I've said this before on the podcast that
I I think sometimes they they they feel like they know what the fans want.
And Jeff is one to say that they get it wrong.
But I've said this before, I definitely feel like we are getting ready
to enter in the era of the 20s of Survivor,
when it was every other season
was a returning season.
And so I feel like, although there may be a lot of people
that are upset, I do feel like in this next 50 era,
the age of Wendy's, we will get, I believe,
more than two or three returning seasons.
And so I, you know, I think that is very valid.
That's all I am excited for 50.
I will just say this.
Because I don't want to say too much.
Um, I.
I really do hope that it is not the usual suspects.
And I feel like it's not usually the way it is.
And I didn't mind a lot of the picks.
So I will say that.
But we don't know what's true and what's not.
And Bryce, you make a great point
because CBS, especially Survivor production themselves,
I'm sure, I would assume that they wanna do more
with a lot of these new era characters, of which there are many great ones. I would hope that maybe a 51 or
a 53 is like a new era second, like a second chances period. That way we can get some new
era favorites. We could get a Bryce Isaiah out there.
You don't have to wait that long.
Okay. But to that point, I would say not that I'm the one who to wait that long. Okay.
But to that point, I would say not that I'm the one who should be giving anyone advice.
I do hope some of my favorites that are tweeting out,
I feel like, you know,
Jesse Lopez is gonna have his time to shine.
Oh, he absolutely will.
Not that Jesse needs my advice,
but I don't want him to burn his bridge
because I know if his ass like does his thing,
he's going to be back out there sooner than later.
So that's also why I'm hoping.
So, Jack, also, yeah, you were laying in your bed,
having a connipt shit about all of these people.
So was Wendy's right.
And OK, because Wendy's is a survivor nerd.
And of course, he had to call me.
And of course, I had to speak to him for 45 minutes.
And we're talking.
And, you know, me, I love a good conspiracy theory.
You know, I do believe aliens exist, and I do believe that, like,
we've been looking up in the sky when we really should have been looking down
in the ocean because the aliens are here.
Let me throw out another conspiracy theory.
I thought I've been around for a while.
This isn't my first go-round of returning seasons.
And never before in this go-round of returning seasons,
on the same exact day, within hours, have we seen so many people speaking out,
obviously with technology and different things.
And I said that when DZ on the phone, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a tactic.
Like a CBS rollout?
Like a CBS kind of sort of rollout, because you know, we do know they don't like pre-gaming and all that stuff.
And they try to do different things to throw people off of the scent.
And for me, like the fact that it was the same day within hours and maybe I'm just holding out hope because, like you said, a lot of the people that were tweeting out and adding to their stories crushed me as well.
They're personal friends of mine. And as a survivor lover, I love them. A lot of the people that were tweeting out and adding to their stories crushed me as well.
Their personal friends of mine and as a survivor lover, I love them.
And I just I'm going to go down this rabbit hole that I want to say.
Maybe somebody said, do do do do do do do do this.
Because now what does it do?
It had the survivor fandom Wendell and Jack, sitting in their bed going crazy and it worked. It drummed up more buzz for season 50.
It may break with a conspiracy theory.
I think it's unlikely,
but I like that you think in that way
and I think it's possible.
I think it's more likely someone was mad enough,
they decided to speak out and some other survivors saw it
and were pissed too and they're like, let me just add on to this.
I think that's what it was.
But I mean, okay. So, but Bryce, I like where your head's at where I think, you know, if
this is ultimately a CBS decision and survivor wanted to do something more with the new era
people, then I feel like pretty soon we'll see, you know, what we need to see from the
new era. So excited for that. So, and it's also interesting, right, these, these Survivor
50 people haven't left yet. We don't, we might not even know the full confirmed cast. And
so speaking of this fan vote, they're now seeing the, the elements of the game that
are going to come into play in the season. And maybe that's why, maybe that's why they haven't been,
because I think with the first fan vote,
they released the results,
but I don't know if they did with the second one.
I'm wondering, maybe it's like,
we don't want to let them know too much
before they get out there.
Wow.
And here's my last conspiracy theory.
If my first conspiracy theory was wrong,
then my next conspiracy theory. If my first conspiracy theory was wrong, then my next conspiracy
theory is if people that were supposed to be on and they're not on were so loud,
then it makes me take a look at the ones that have gone quiet.
And so, and I only say that because as a fan of Survivor and between Jack Wendell and I,
we like to speculate. Like, you know, it's kind of like Jack doesn't gamble, but it's kind of like rolling the dice.
And I have my fingers crossed for some people
and I really am excited for season 50.
I think that it can be so amazing.
And so like, there's some people that are quiet.
There are also some people that like out of nowhere
have started posting on Instagram and Twitter and stuff.
And so like, I think for the Survivor realm,
I think it's great.
I also think there are some cloud chasers
that like people just like, you know,
just popping up now and different stuff.
But I love it as a fan of the show.
And I'm just excited to see what they come up with.
And I'm happy that, you know, like Jeff says,
Survivor 50 is in the hands of the fans now also.
That's all y'all got for us.
Oh, the logo?
Yeah, in the hands of the fans.
Jack, I feel like Jack,
you could give me a better bar than that.
I don't mind in the hands of the fans. Wendyzy, what do you't mind in the hands of the fans.
Wendyzy, what do you think of in the hands of the fans?
I think you could throw that title out.
Well, it's not gonna be like the name of the season.
I think it's the name.
I think that's the name of the season, Jax.
Oh, oh, that's what I'm saying.
Oh, that's bad.
I thought you just meant the whole little thing
about the vote.
No, that's the name of the season in the hands of the fans.
What would the acronym H.O.
T.F. That's too much for me.
Reviver hot.
Jeff might like that.
But yeah.
So what are we doing here?
What's that?
Okay.
Bryce, I know you got the some of the graphics ready.
Go ahead and throw it up and I can, you know, talk us through it.
Okay.
The first one is the final four fire making.
It's in our I'll read the descriptions and the options because I also think the wording
and some of these is a little bit interesting and I want to see if you guys like catch that or have
thoughts.
But here we go.
Okay, let's get into some gameplay.
The final four fire making showdown has delivered some of the most dramatic moments in Survivor
history, but not every fan is on board.
Where do you stand?
Option A is to keep it.
It gives players control of their destiny or B lose it.
Let them vote out someone just like the early season.
So I want to know what I mean, just throw it to you.
What are you are you guys keep it or give her get rid of it?
Keep it. Vote him out. I.
One final.
Well, I'm saying keep it. For me, vote them out because it then changes.
Just like how, if you make sure you check out Survivor News,
episode seven of our recap, just like how they were so concerned
with having someone not on the jury.
For me, it ultimately will change the game after you have the jury.
And so you get down to like final seven, final six.
Now your process of elimination.
There's another factor that I think can add a twist that we haven't seen in a long time.
And so just like the pendulum switches,
I would love to just see the vote out
because now I also feel like some people
play the safe game because they're jury managing
and they're like, you know what, Wendell and Jack,
I'm gonna put it in the hands of survivor gods.
And people often do that sometimes to be like,
you know what?
Maybe if window goes out and I'm to the end, he'll still give me a vote. Now it's like,
like Jack's been all season. You got to stand ten toes down on something. And so I think
that it could make for a more interesting final tribal is where I'm at with. Yep.
Yeah, Bryce, I agree with you.
I think, um, look, I don't hate the fire make the only time I think it got off to a really
rough start in heroes, healers, hustlers, because it came out of nowhere and basically
gave Ben the game.
Uh, and people didn't like that.
It was, it was a twist that, but now that people know about it, I think it's a very
valid part of the game. I don't hate that, but now that people know about it, I think it's a very valid part of the game.
I don't hate it, but I do think for two reasons
I prefer to get rid of it.
A, I think when you get to the end game,
it's important if you're a great player
to be able to survive one of those one final votes.
And we've seen a lot of times if you have an idle,
you could play it at five,
as long as you can make fire at four, you're good.
All of a sudden you're in the final three, right?
And that feels like a little bit too much late safety.
I like there to be an opportunity where there's no idle, there's no fire.
It's just like you pleading your life with one person or two people and the best players
are going to emerge from that victorious.
Also you look back before the mandatory
fire making, there was fire making. When there was a 2-2 tie, they would make fire.
And I think in that instance, the vote where you had to, you could
force fire, you had to beg for someone to give you the chance to force
fire. And we didn't see it every season. I always felt like that made fire making
even more exciting. Like we really earned it this season. I always felt like that made fire making even more exciting.
Like we really earned it this time.
And I really liked that about not making it required
because then when it does happen, it's like a real treat.
So I'm probably anti-fire making.
Wendyzy, you still stand in Tento's down.
If anyone should, it's probably Wendell.
Should we move to the next one, Bryce? Also, Jack,
the last time I was at Wendell's house, he has a fire pit
and like he was building a fire. Like he was just throwing
all the stuff in it and it was just like why haven't you lit
it yet and it's just it just not enough for a big fire.
But so he really touched in 10 toes down about his fire.
This is the interesting one, Jack.
Oh, here we go.
So we have the tribe colors.
And option A, I'll try to, it's like a lot of overlap.
But option A is like a royal blue.
Like a tangerine orange
or I guess an orange, an orange orange.
And then like, what would you say?
Like a lime green lime green.
Yeah.
Option B is that same tangerine orange.
But then we have like a nice sort of Cyan teal.
And then we have like a purple.
Have you ever heard of the Cyan blue?
I have not.
And then aside from the Cyan,
we got like a purple pants podcast purple.
Also I'm a little confused
because I see little other colors below.
Are those like the compliment colors?
I would guess.
Yeah.
Kind of interesting.
Yeah, I'm the secondary.
The secondaries.
And then the option C, we have that same lime green,
and then we have like a bright red,
and then we have, you know, a canary yellow.
So I guess to you guys, Bryce, you mind leaving those up?
Oh yeah, I was just trying to pull a buff out
to just see that like when you have a buff,
it's not always, you know, it's like that main color
and then there's like a blue and then a gray.
So I guess the interesting thing with this is that
some of, they have same, some same colors
in different options, but the sub,
like the secondary colors are different.
But I think the main thing is the most important.
So I guess to you guys quickly,
I'd like to know which option you like the most,
but I think the bigger question with these colors
is just like, what do you think about tribe colors
in general?
Do you have-
No, no, no, no.
Jack, I think you're missing actually the bigger point
of these swaps.
How many of the swaps in each of the options do we have?
What do you mean?
Oh, three.
Three.
And so that's been-
That's okay, I didn't really know about that.
Yeah, that's a good question.
So that's the discourse that I have
and a lot of the fans have is that like,
so is Survivor saying that this is going to be
a three season tribe?
And I, when I initially saw this, I was not happy yet because I don't, if we're doing
50, I don't want three. I want two tribes and shout out to the people on Twitter because
people have been saying that like, Oh, it's going to be three. Then someone also said, well, it actually could be two tribes and a merge.
It could be.
I didn't really think about that, but that's a great point.
Um, but what I do want to know as a guy, that's a great call, uh, from these
options, but then also just thoughts on tribe colors in general, do we like what
they've been doing?
Do we have a favorite
you know season of the color palette? Like what if it right we have three options here that are
pretty specific. I want to hear of the three but just in an ideal world what would what would it
be like for you guys? I mean out of these three if you're asking me you know I'm going with the
middle anything. Well actually you know what I'm'm going with the middle. Anything. Well, actually, you know what?
I'm not going with the middle.
Purple hasn't been that great for me on the island.
And so I actually like a little green, that red and that mustard color.
I think option C, I think option C looks really well.
I also just love for them to play a little more with the
color palettes. Can we get some neon? Can we get some earth tones? Can we get
some, you know, spice it up is my opinion. I like I like option B, Bryce. I agree
with you in that they should spice it up. So that's why this this unique teal we
haven't really seen much of that. So like, hey, let's let's start with that. And then maybe for 51, we
get even bolder with our color decisions. Yeah, I would say I guess I go option B for
the same reasons. Like, I love that teal. And I obviously love purple. But again, all
three of these are like one color off of the average new era season, right?
Like it's it's like blue and the option A it's blue instead of purple.
And you got purple, orange, green.
Same with option B and then option C is like, oh, instead of blue, red and yellow,
you get green, red and yellow.
I would love they don't play with the colors enough.
And maybe that's because they do like they paint a lot of the challenges and reuse them.
But like they never, like I remember second chances,
that teal and that like magenta, that was awesome.
I loved in token jeans, how it was like black and red.
I mean, give me like a black neon pink
and like powder blue season.
Like there's no, they don't play with them at all.
And I think aesthetically
it would look really beautiful. And for me, Bryce and Wendell, it also helps you distinguish the season and really kind of put a player to a season, right? Like I think back on, you think about like
a Gabon and you think about like, you think about certain players being on a certain color tribe
and you kind of just like remember that association.
Now in the new era, everyone's on either just,
it's all the same colors and there's no,
there's not much of an identity.
So I think that would honestly help
distinguish the tribes a little bit more.
And not for nothing, that Ghost Island,
that black buff on Ghost Island, that I will,
you know I love to hate on Ghost Island,
that black buff on Ghost Island, that I will, you know, I love to hate on Ghost Island. That black buff on Ghost Island goes hard.
So I do agree with you, Jack.
I think that that is one of the buffs that whenever I see it,
I can always spot that that's a Ghost Island.
But check out the Winners at War merge was with the merge.
Most have been pretty cool, too. But.
The merge was like the merge about this season is pretty cool, but
obviously the starting three tribe colors are so important
also because it's just the color of the players are wearing all game.
Like it just makes it a little bit more like right.
The merge about this season is blue, but we're not seeing much blue, you know?
So and it also Merge Bop this season is blue, but we're not seeing much blue. You know, so.
And it also the options in which the players can wear, right?
Like, because they do like to have the players match the colors.
And so, like, I do like a different variety of seeing what the people
on the island look like as well from just an aesthetic point.
Oh, that's great.
That's a great point.
Cause say you have a tribe that's like, like brown,
we've never seen that.
I think that would bring a different fashion sort of,
talk about the diversity to this.
I think it's, you know, but I think we've seen
so many players wearing like red and green t-shirts,
but if we start rocking like a brown color palette,
that could give us a whole look for a tribe that you've never really seen before.
And to my point, help us kind of like associate the season with a certain
feel, a certain aesthetic and certain fashion that I think would be really fun.
I agree. I like that take check.
Yeah. But let's create the next one.
OK, so this is for the live finale and the options are either to keep it,
keep it in Fiji or have a go back to the old days and have it live in Los Angeles.
What do you guys think?
I say go live in Los Angeles. Give them like, this is something that was
an amazing time, an amazing moment, like huge for the fans, huge for the players. They went through
so much and you go to LA for this like, it's like a crescendo. It's like this, it's like an exclamation
point to your season, no matter where you finished. And so I say you go back, do it live in LA
and just have a good old time out there.
And yeah, that's what I got.
Make it a step.
I agree.
I definitely say go back to Los Angeles.
I think that that's one of the things in the newer era
that I feel like not only have some of the players
been cheated out of the 13 days, but then they get
cheated out of like just that that closure. But I will put a caveat on it though. If we go back to
13 days, I mean, if we go back to live in Los Angeles, ensure that every one of them players
is on that stage and ensure that you speak to every player
that has played during the reunion.
Because in the past, they love to skip over people.
And I was skipped over during my reunion.
I did not say a word.
And when I say that broke my spirit during that time,
that was not a good feeling.
And I remember Matt Bischoff's season
when they experimented with not putting the merge on the stage.
And we have those images of seeing Matt and other people in the audience.
Like that was horrible.
And I remember for Kageon, Alexis and I were really worried that we would not be on the stage.
And so I just think,
and I think with 50, they will do it right,
but like do it right to the people,
like put them on the stage, ask everyone a question.
Like it's not,
I think putting everyone on the stage
is the right thing to do.
I don't necessarily think asking everyone a question.
I think you need to ask everyone a question.
I agree in principle, but it might be time. You can make it work.
You could just say, hey, how you doing?
Bryce, I won my season.
They asked me one question and I wouldn't and I wouldn't even ask you anything.
Well, there you go.
I would say I might.
So I voted for a live in Los Angeles.
But what I will say, and I'm a little bit.
I was I was never in Los Angeles when they used to do them live in Los Angeles.
So I don't know what that's quite like.
But what I do know is a blight and wind.
And some of you know, a lot of them, we've had the cast there.
I don't quite know if that would happen with the library.
I know it wouldn't happen with the library and just because they would be there.
So now I'm kind of like, I like the way the operations been going for you guys.
I'm not mad at it, but especially from like a player standpoint,
I definitely agree the live reunion loss and continue to them more time to I mean, I remember watching my guys
Xander and Charlie at right after losing their seasons be given a piece of pizza
and baby like, so how do you feel that you got stabbed in the back or whatever
and it's like that is hard to watch and so I don't want people to have to endure that.
Obviously I love the activity in LA,
but would it be as fun as a Bryson one?
Why not?
So we can always do an after party.
You never know Bry and when might host.
That is not a bad idea.
So that would be a great time too.
I don't know if I get an invite to the finale.
Xander and Charlie would.
I think so.
Let's hit the next one.
Okay.
So we've got the final four challenge, which would be, um, we've
got option A, which is like the plinko sort of board with the puzzle where you can only
solve it while your ball is rolling down. You got to catch it. Otherwise got to wait
last seen in survivor 46 option B is like a giant obstacle course with a puzzle at the end.
I don't really know specifically, it looks like maybe the bat puzzle, but just one of those
classic like showdown big challenges. And then option C, I believe it's called some motion,
where it's like the metal contraption where you roll the balls down and you gotta like catch them and then put them back in.
This sounds right up Bryce's alley. And then you keep adding balls to them.
So I guess, yes, these are the three options specifically. What do you guys like?
I'm torn because I love the big obstacle course. However, I will never forget watching Michelle Fitzgerald season when
she had to keep putting things in. And ever since then, I
have loved that challenge. And so I think I'm a little biased
to option C. Because again, it is still nuance, you don't have
to do too much to it, but it still gives you an amazing result.
So for me, I definitely voted option C.
I actually like A or B.
I think I like B the most and A the second most.
I think this is because if I'm putting myself in these situations, these are the ones I love to do.
So over option C, some motion.
I take option B, the huge obstacle course and then option A.
The little you said, Planko with the puzzle situation.
Like Planko with the little hot you fry stuff in.
No, I think that's Panko.
Blinko is like the game where you drop a disc.
Oh, like, yeah.
Yeah, exactly.
I would say, here we go.
Well, it's not going to get that crazy.
I mean, it's just a, I would say my favorite is option B.
But to be fair, I think that this is the sort of challenge
where someone can fall the most
sort of obviously behind and that can sort of ruin the suspense of a Final Four challenge
where, oh, it's this massive obstacle course with a puzzle at the end.
You kind of go into the challenge, you have an idea like the one or two people that's
going to win it.
Whereas some of these other challenges, I do enjoy the,
it's kind of anyone's game. It's all about like focus and endurance, uh,
and just kind of like resilience. Um, so option B, I maybe prefer option B as like a final five challenge, uh, option A,
I just don't love it that it's a great challenge,
but I don't know if I love it as like a final four. So I guess,
I feel like the final four really should just be like a showdown,
a battle of will. So I guess option C gives that the most. But at the same
time, we have seen option C a lot and it's not like that epic to me. I kind of wish there
was option D.
But what I will say about option C is how many times that we have seen option C and
the person that has won surprised the hell out of you.
Well, true. I mean, that's that, that is valid, but, um,
I don't know. I mean, so that's why I like it. You know, me, I love to let's mix the variables up even more and let's roll the dice.
I mean, that's a great point. I'm also thinking about like,
say we do get rid of the final four fire making,
then there's a little bit of a different component
to this challenge too, where maybe having that,
because a lot of times I think,
say the person that wins like the Submotion, for example,
it's very random.
And I don't necessarily know if I want like
the random person to win and then-
I do.
But then do our, without the fire, maybe our favorites get voted out. Well, I mean, that's the to win and then I do. You are. But then do without the fire.
Maybe our favorite skit voted out.
Well, I mean, that's the name of the game.
Jack is a luck.
True, true, true, true.
I mean, I think they're all solid challenges, though.
I think for drama, option C probably is the best.
Because it's like anyone could drop out at any time, obviously.
The other ones you kind of get a sense of like who's going to win as it goes.
Right.
Although a puzzle at the end of option B is a great equalizer.
True, true.
Sometimes.
But throughout the season, we know who the puzzle beasts are.
And so like if we, you know, so it can be.
That's what I'm, that's exactly what I'm saying.
You know who the puzzle beasts are.
So that if there's someone who's big and strong
and running and is not good at puzzles,
he'll be ahead the whole time.
And then there'll be a comeback.
Yeah. No, no.
I, I, I would say-
You can't be big and strong and good at puzzles.
You can.
Well then it's not an equalizer.
If they're just gonna-
And hello to your big friend, Bryce, who?
Me. Jack.
Jack is good at puzzles and big and strong.
He's big. Whoa.
Pause.
OK, the next one.
And I'll give the the exact wording for these two because it might be,
you know, okay.
More gameplay.
Advantages are an exciting way to give players the power to influence the game.
How much power do you want advantages to have in Survivor 50?
This one is minimal power.
I want advantage to be rare and limited in power, forcing the players to rely primarily
on their strategic, social, and physical abilities.
Then there's strategic power.
I want advantages that are just powerful enough
to create some uncertainty and risk,
adding a layer of complexity for the players to deal with.
And then there's dynamic power.
I want to amplify the impact and fun of advantages
so they offer enough power to shake up the game
so that even players on the bottom have a fighting chance.
Mm.
to shake up the game so that even players on the bottom have a fighting chance.
It's, cause I always toyed with the idea of
a season with nothing, right?
Like just take it back to the beginning.
But I also feel like because of the evolution of the game,
you can't have that.
And so I think for me, my vote was for the strategic power.
I think that that, if vote was for the strategic power.
I think that that, if you are coming back for season 50 and you haven't been watching and you don't know,
then you're putting yourself at a disadvantage.
But I also don't love how in some of the new era,
or even in like my season, the Tyler Perry Idol,
it gave extremely too much power
and it kind of shifted things a little bit.
So I think for me, for season 50,
I was like right aligned with like the strategic power,
for me, is what I wanted to see.
Okay.
I say minimal power,
because we're putting returning players out there.
These are players that know the game.
They played the game and some of them most likely have played the game a few times.
Okay.
So we're, we're putting the right people out there.
Let's see how these people manipulate the game as opposed to back it up on you.
I mean, can I push back a little bit?
That's funny.
Can I push back a little bit?
Yes.
My thought and Jack,
I hope to think that you'll be on my side with this, right?
50 seasons, we've seen the new era, right?
Like, and that's how originally I was thinking about
the minimal power window, like, yeah,
there's returning players, but I also think that
there will be a divide in,
we potentially could have someone from season one,
we could potentially have someone from season 13,
and that was a different world. And I think that from season 13 and that was a different world.
And I think that from season 13 to season 43,
that's crazy.
And I think that, I don't know,
I think just my opinion is that like,
an equalizer would be the strategic one
because it kind of, it makes people think differently
because of the potential option
that is out there. It's like the shot in the dark is like what I will look at as a strategic.
Bryce, okay, I hear you shot in the dark. Cool. Yes, I agree. But what would scare me then is I
think that the people that played more recent these these three new era people that they would put in the game would have such an advantage
now. Like, they're only used to this fast paced crazy game. And if you put a player
from however long ago with a shorter game and all these advantages, I question how they
would do. So I'd say put advantages in to a minimal extent.
I mean, I think if you talk about an equalizer, I think that the minimal
power is the equalizer because it does say like the players have to rely only
on their strategic, social, that's surviving.
And physical, strategic, social and physical. So that's for me, that's not
a equalizer.
That is that to me, that's what survivors about.
It's not.
I mean, it is physical, but like, yeah, okay.
I just.
But at the same, I also,
I think I voted for the strategic power.
Now I see the benefit of both, right?
To me, the thing, my part of my fear is survivor
always gets a little carried away with how much they put in there. So if you say minimal power? To me, the thing is my part of my fear is survivor always gets a little
carried away with how much they put in there. So if you say minimal power to me, it's probably
still going to be idols and maybe nothing more. But I think that's fine. Strategic power,
it's like, okay, maybe there's a steal of though, maybe there's the shot in the dark.
And I don't, I'm not mad at that either. Um, but I'm worried, I'm a little bit worried that you would say
strategic power and they're like, well, now we can, and
that's what I was scared about with the power is like, the
way that they're describing it is like, they said, so even the
players at the bottom have a chance. What would we be given?
Yeah. So just as long as it's not the dynamic power,
I don't really mind.

I
Just went more with the strategic because and again, like you said
I think the wording and these are very like important and I think the one thing in the minimum
that said that they have to rely on their physical abilities and I feel like if I'm
that said that they have to rely on their physical abilities. And I feel like if I'm more inherently coordinated
than Wendell, and so if I'm able to do things better,
it's not really an equalizer, but I understand.
And so like for me, strategy and the doubt and uncertainty,
that's kind of like mind games and how you navigate that.
And I think it's more interesting to me to watch. Well more than it is a difference of like, like Wendell said,
someone who played two seasons ago might be better,
might be more advantaged with those than someone who never has really
familiarized themselves. I mean, I will say if you're on season 50
and you haven't familiarized yourself with the new era, then shame on you.
That's true. Yeah, I just also, like you said't familiarized yourself with the new era, then shame on you. Oh, that's true.
Yeah, I just also, like you said with the writing of it,
right, like strategic power.
Isn't that any type of advantage would give you?
What I think they mean is like,
and this is what I do like about the advantage,
some of the advantages lately is like,
a great player will do a great job with the advantage,
but for a bad player, it could be a disadvantage.
And that's right. I like when the advantage allows good players to thrive and bad players to
showcase that they're not as strong. So that's why I'm just worried about like the dynamic power.
Is it like, it just feels like you're giving maybe someone like a superpower where they don't have to
be good at the game. They just got a super idol and now you can't vote them out so that's just what I want to
avoid okay cool now we've got um this one just the tribe swap do we want to tribe swap or do we
not want to drop swap I say yes I say yes I want to tribe swap I also say yes. I say yes, I want a Tribe swap. I also say yes, we want a Tribe swap.
But the only way that I would say is that we don't want
a Tribe swap is if it's two Tribes, right?
And even still, if we had two Tribes,
I would want a Tribe swap.
So, you know, I definitely want a Tribe swap.
Yeah, same here.
I mean, I think especially on an All-Star season,
you want to see all of your favorite players
be able to have the opportunity to interact, mix and mingle.
So I think especially on an all-star season
over a new player season, I would like to have a tribe swap.
But just not too early, because I think,
I mean, around Wendell's season,
there was a period of time where they would do
two tribals with your initial tribe,
and then like five with your swap tribe.
Give me like four or five tribles with the original and then a swap and do like two or three.
I think. Is random question that just popped into my mind. I want to be like,
so are we, what is an all-star season? Like any with all returning, I guess I mean.
Now that's maybe word-wise, they're a little bit different,
but that's what I meant is like,
Survivor 50 is gonna be like an all-stars,
even like second chances, I call that an all-stars.
Like it's maybe not as, but like, you know,
it's all returning.
I'd need to see the cast before I say all-star, but.
Yeah, they might not be all-stars.
But I mean.
I mean, this season is one 18th all-star,
because there's one star.
I was going to say.
You took the words out of my mouth.
Where are we at?
the words out of my mouth.
Uh, where are we at?
Okay. Then we have, do we give them the contestants rice or make them earn the rice?
Here's my thing.
I don't think the rice plays a big enough role that they wanted to.
So I say give them the bare minimum of the rice and still have the option to have rewards.
But also nobody asking me.
But like we don't need to see the sanctuary as much as we see the sanctuary.
But like, we don't need to see the sanctuary as much as we see the sanctuary.
Ain't nobody ask you.
I say, I say give them rice. Rice created that Jatia moment. Rice created, um,
yeah. So give them rice. It'll give them a little more sustenance for them to go play a little harder.
Do you not hear the criticism that like sometimes with the sanctuary people be like, they're eating so much and so many rewards. Like I hear a lot of that from.
I don't like the rewards, but I just, I agree with the sanctuary. I don't need to see them at the
sanctuary every time.
Like give me back when they would go into like
the local village and hand kids like school supplies.
Like that's cool.
No, I don't need to see them making
their own peanut butter jelly at the sanctuary.
Or eating like one raw, like whole chicken
with nothing else like that.
I would say give them rice and I understand
some of the complaints about the new era would have to me. They're already stuck on an island
surviving like them being starving on top of that does not really add that much for
me like let them have a baseline level of like sustenance so that they have energy to
like play the game. And it also just has, like you said,
has created a lot of interesting moments.
Like, it started, like, you also, like you said, Bryce,
that they give them a pretty minimal amount of rice.
Now we're seeing more old school survivor where,
oh, someone's taking too much.
Take too much of the rice.
Now there's drama around the rice.
Jatiyah might come through and dump out a bag of the rice.
Angelina might negotiate for more. Or like in San Juan del Sur, the blue tribe ate too much rice, then they had to
give up a bunch of their camp stuff to get more because they ran out. I think those are
all really interesting dynamics that can come out of the rice. Whereas now it's like, okay,
at final eight, we always get this negotiation. But other than that, it's just not really
that interesting. So you might as well give them a look.
Seeing Mitch just so hungry yesterday that he couldn't think, not that fun.
And also with the potential older seasons versus the newer seasons, I think that that
enlies a new conflict that maybe the newer seasons haven't had to deal with,
that the older seasons have had to deal with.
And so in my opinion,
that would be interesting to see the clashing
of how to deal with the rice.
Like I think that, yeah,
giving them rice will ultimately create more conflict
or someone having to step up and be a leader.
And if you step it up and be a leader about the right life,
I just think that it offers more,
like you said, they might have more advantages with,
yeah, like they can handle the advantages,
the new school knows how to do the advantages,
but the old school might know how to divvy up the rice.
So, and those are important.
And we've seen in this last episode, like sometimes
camp life is important and how that happens.
Oh, so it looks like Bryce, we got the results on the fan vote for some of these categories
so that we went through all of them. So let's see, I guess what the fans said. I think these
are all from the batch one one. So.
Correct.
So 62% voted to give the players rice.
So hopefully, hopefully survivor and CBS follow through.
Well, I think they have to write.
Now I'm wondering if they don't show their results
for the second vote on, they
could just be like, oh, all you guys said that we should do this or that.
So you just took my emails and now I'm going to get all this other stuff that you didn't
even tell me.
OK, so 91% said live vote reveal in LA. So overwhelming majority.
It's also, we didn't mention it, it's cool to see people, you know,
almost a year removed from the game.
What they look like in their nice clothes,
what they, you know, see their loved ones.
I have to say, Jack and Wendell,
one of my favorite corny moments would be
when Jeff would take the votes and be like, and walk down that path.
And then they like, I used to love that. And I will have to say, watching that in a Kageyan,
him walk down that path, it did give me like goosebumps. And so I, I, that was awesome. Yeah.
And then how Jeff all look with the, and the crowd is like, hey, like I did.
And seeing people's outfits, I, you know, I...
Yeah.
Sorry.
Also question, what, what percent of the time, when, cause you know, when they would read
the votes live in LA, technically the players wouldn't know who the winner is, but I'm sure
some seasons people would compare notes
and you would kind of know like who voted for who.
The majority of people, everyone knew.
Okay, I was gonna say that,
but I feel like there was a few seasons
where maybe it wasn't fully true.
There were some surprises.
Yeah.
But I'm not sure.
Didn't that happen your season, Bryce?
No.
Well, one person was surprised.
Yes.
Who?
Who?
Oh, he was surprised.
Oh, who was about what?
I mean, he lost like.
Yeah, but who?
And I love who, but no, who?
Uh, I just never forget at life. We used to, we were there. Woo, and I love Woo, but no, Woo,
I just never forget at life, we used to, we were there, we were all backstage and it's like,
we didn't get to see episodes, the two episodes,
and Woo came out there, Woo was hugging babies,
kissing people like Woo was, and as the episode,
and we got to see the confessionals Wu's demeanor
when I say like drastically changed drastically changed but and so because
of how he was portrayed or because like did he know that he thinks that he won
now or he just thought he was gonna come come off like a hero? That's what he's saying.
Is what I think that Wu believed that he might have won.
OK.
Oh, yeah, there.
I can feel like if you if you didn't get a single vote,
what did you get off the island after the vote and be like,
you know, did you vote for me?
And they'd be like, not if you're playing honest in an
integrity in a game like and you follow the rules.
Oh, like, so he would have talked to anybody.
What was it like in the jury in that Ponderosa situation?
What we all doing?
It got a little uncomfortable
because like we were all mingling.
And again, like I'm saying, and why?
Because like we were all mingling and again, like I'm saying, why?
I was in Phuket.
Right. I was in Chiang Mai. I was in Phuket riding elephants. Okay. Anyway, Jack, let's go to the next result.
Tribe colors were.
I don't know why. Oh, sorry sorry I'm going all over the place okay
tribe colors were 61% option B which is what Wendell and I said 22% option A and
then 17% option C yeah it seems like most people like the little cyan which
I think is a testament to, let's
just get some creative colors.
I think it would be cool if maybe they gave like 15 colors, you vote on your favorite,
and then whichever three overall get the most, that's just the colors.
And maybe it's like red, orange, and yellow, but at least it's a little bit,
I wouldn't want it to be red, orange, and yellow,
but maybe it's like purple, pink, and gray.
And it's just like, oh, those are the three top ones.
That's it.
You know what is given to me,
the window as somebody that has printed shirts before,
and the different tiers of levels and how
more expensive the fabric is you get more options but on the basic level it's
boop boop boop we'll put this one right here in the middle and see what they do
yeah that's what I just yeah I like they usually just don't want to
repaint all the stuff is what I would guess is why they don't want to.
Change it up every season, which is that guy, Wendell Wendell would gladly
go out there and paint it.
Yeah, yeah.
And then 66% said to remove the final four fire making.
OK, sorry, Wendell. And then 66% said to remove the final four fire making.
Okay. Sorry Wendell.
That's all right, they already paid me.
Fair.
So I think those were the results in the first four
in that first vote.
And I feel like that was pretty in line
with what we kind of collectively said.
I think that's all the things that I voted for.
So you're right, Jack. Oh, I didn't mean that as like, uh,
to to. I didn't mean it like that. I mean, it's a line. That's the, the Jack Shack said,
the people say they listen here because they, they align with Jack. So Jackson touched with the
people. Well, when it comes to like, uh, color choice, it's not really like a right, like,
it's not a right or wrong.
You just pick what you like, you know?
What color is your eye?
My eyes?
Oh, this one.
That is light dim, so you can't see
what's going on with that eye.
They should go with the Jack colors.
You go blue like my eyes, purple like my eye,
and then you go red like my shirt, red, blue, purple.
Hey.
All right.
All right, well listen,
I am excited to see how this all shakes out.
I don't know if they're going to deliver us
the other options, but if they do,
I definitely think we should hop back on the pod
and talk about it and discuss any new theories.
I would love to hear everyone's take in the comments
about what you think, about what should happen with 50.
Also talk us, let us know in the comments
who you wanna see on 50.
Because I also think, and this is my last thing
and the last thing and the last thing,
is that this is not my first cycle of a returning season.
And another conspiracy theory I have is that
Survivor could have another pool of something
and pull an audible at the last minute.
So I'm just saying, like when I see these people
with these alleged cast. I'm like, it's not over until the snake head is.
Good pod guys.
Jack, well thank you for having the baby boys come on
and do this.
You want more content like this?
