Rob Sestrinito!
That's me!
Hey everybody, what's going on?
How are you?
Huntington Theater!
Wow, a double tribal council, two tribal councils for the price of one ticket for all of you
tonight.
Promo code RHAP.
So cool that you're all here. We've been having such a fun night here.
And if you're watching us here on the YouTube video,
thanks for checking it out.
But you're not having as much fun as we are here.
We've been having a great time.
So many survivors are here.
We're trying a bunch of new fun stuff.
And Chappelle held it down during the commercial breaks.
We've been playing a bunch of different games
with the survivors.
And so something new that we did here tonight,
we had so many people, so many survivors here with us
in Boston.
We did something new during the commercial break.
And the people that are here in the building,
you all know about it.
So we, it was like a weird night where we drew new tribes
and we had so many people here from the new era
that we decided to bring people up.
We had them draw buffs.
They dropped, they didn't have buffs,
but if they had them, they would have dropped them.
And we started off with a tribe swap.
So we have three tribes tonight of new era players.
If you're good, maybe we'll have a tribe
of old era players.
You know, in 41, you know, Evie knows that they said later days.
I find that, you know, sometimes the players from the old era,
they're like, what do you mean old era?
They get defensive.
But I mean 39 day players.
And the new era, they don't like it when you talk about 39-day players.
So it's hard.
It's hard.
But we have three new tribes here tonight from the New Era.
And so we're going to talk to them one at a time and have some fun with the tribe that
drew the black buff tonight.
Are you ready?
All right.
Let's meet your first New Era Tribe of the
night. It's Caleb, Annika, Teeny, Dwight, and new recruit Brandon Donlon. Alright, now I think we have three other
microphones, so I think let's, okay, let's pass the microphone down.
And so we may have to do a little bit
of microphone passing here.
And that was such a nice warm ovation for everybody,
making everybody feel at home.
And all right, so.
What's going on?
All right, Caleb, so good to see you.
Oh, it's great to be here.
Saul quit.
Which is pretty difficult for our group.
Me and Brandon know about quitting.
Every time you all have a group, somebody's leaving.
Welcome Brandon Donlin to the Black Tribe.
I've never been told that.
Let's just say the Black Box.
First time.
This is your tribe swap, officially.
This is my tribe swap.
First official tribe swap.
Okay, so just to tell everybody a little bit of what we're gonna do, okay, so we have
this group we want to talk about the episode but also like these people you
love you all love the Survivor right? Okay at the end of this segment we're
gonna have a vote. We're gonna vote one person out, okay?
Everybody looked at me, and I noticed that
it was a universal four people just this way.
So, we'll talk about the show, but also maybe, like,
Teeny, how you feeling that you got a few people here
from a tribe?
Yeah, hey, Teeny, you got anything new going on?
Yeah, today's a big day for me. I don't know if you guys saw. As it pertains to this game
here, I can't really say that I won an all-girls alliance anymore. So maybe I'll join the big
boys alliance today. Sacrificial boot. Yeah. All right, so I want to talk about what we just saw,
but also remember we got a vote coming up in just a little bit. Yeah. Caleb, what
you think about the show tonight? Really fun challenge. Really fun episode, right?
You know? Yeah. An all-timer with that challenge,
that was just one of the ones where Jeff was on one, everybody was having fun. Dwight,
you were there and they mentioned it. Jeff called it the legendary challenge when Gabler
won and shouted everybody out. Yeah, Gabler, the amount of shout outs
that were given during that challenge, I, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ shouted out, you know,
this next minute's for Jesus Christ.
Might have missed that one, I was tuned out.
But no, watching that challenge,
it went on for like, what, 50 something minutes this time?
I was like, jeez, that is so impressive
for two of them to do that.
And also, they have some good banter going on. We didn't have, we had like four
people doing it our season and I went out first, so yeah. You were the Cedric! Yeah.
Hey, hey, wait a second, wait a second. Also I gotta say, they made, like the fact we did it with four people and I went out
first, they made me look bad. Because like, there's 12 people, I would have done a lot better
against 12 than four. I gotta go as two people set a record. But no, that
challenge was so fun to watch.
They're having some fun times.
Jeff getting into banter too.
I'm loving the side of Jeff where he's, you know,
riving with the players a bit more.
So that's just gotten a lot better at that
over the past couple seasons.
Annika, how are you doing tonight?
I'm doing great.
Hi everyone.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What did you think about the showdown that we saw between, first it was David and Kyle,
then ultimately Joe and David.
Yes.
I think today's episode was hilarious.
Like I was not, I was cracking up that whole entire segment.
Caleb, I think you deserve to give us a little, oh yeah.
Can you freestyle?
Can you give us a little OEO. Can you freestyle this special effect?
Can you freestyle this special effect?
Can you give me a little?
No.
That was so impressive.
Tini, did you ever know the words that they say in the score of these challenges?
Rob, no. Absolutely not.
I'm a big fan, but I'm not that far.
But I do think that this challenge was so funny,
and it kind of
reminded me of the alphabet game in 46. Like I feel like it goes along with like
the even seasons being a little bit more like silly and playful. Like I feel like
this is kind of similar to 46 in that way and that's something I noticed.
It was such a fun segment, the whole challenge,
where at first you had David and Kyle stand off.
And really, if you're Kyle, like, God bless David.
Kyle, the little scrawny underdog.
Is he going to be able to do it against the big bully?
And I mean, what a great shield for Kyle out there.
Ultimately that David wins out and it's the David versus Joe standoff. The two
Milk Brothers having to battle it out. Who would have thought? David taking some
time to also pose. Yeah. At this theater, this super large screen and we're seeing
every single one of those abdominals and you know. And every nipple. There's pose. Yeah. We're at this theater, this super large screen and we're seeing every
single one of those abdominals and you know. And every nipple. There's multiple nipples
allegedly. We got a view of all of them which is awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Brandon, do you
think that Jeff likes it when somebody like David's making the challenge look
too easy? I don't know. I feel like Jeff loves it. Jeff eats it all.
I think that Jeff really enjoys,
like I've always said that my favorite seasons of Survivor are the ones that are funny.
And I think when you have, like, some seasons, like, the season is great,
but there aren't funny people in it.
And I think that this group has, like, particularly funny people that can, like, riff.
You know, Jeff loves it.
I thought that when Teenie, in the first episode,
when Teenie's riffing back and forth about Teenie's pants, you know, I thought that was so funny. Because nobody does that with Jeff, you know, Jeff loves it. I thought that when Teenie, in the first episode, when Teenie's riffing back and forth about Teenie's pants,
you know, I thought that was so funny.
Because nobody does that with Jeff, you know,
but when you have somebody who's exceptionally funny,
that makes it a lot easier.
So, Teenie, vote with me when we do this vote.
Just do, just give me a paper.
Like, when we do the vote later,
you should vote the way I vote.
Was, Teenie, was that convincing?
Did Brandon, did Brandon sway your vote?
Flattery works on me, Brandon.
Yeah.
Also during that segment that Kyle had said,
like, oh, I know what Jeff is gonna say now
on the commercial.
And then Jeff went right into the commercial,
did the live ad read like it was a podcast.
Like, hey, this episode of Survivor
is brought to you by Apply.
I was worried that this might have been Kyle's boot episode, watching that, you know, like, oh no, this is a lot, you know?
Rome in the chair. Very Rome in the chair centric.
Yeah, a little bit.
Okay, alright, let me ask you, Teenie, you brought up Rome, and of course, I want to ask a little bit about
some of the decisions that got made tonight,
and I'm wondering if the decision,
because I really, did anybody else think
that it was gonna be Mitch voted out?
Was that just me?
I really thought it was gonna be Mitch.
I'm wondering, do you think that it was a factor that they
didn't want say on the jury?
I do think that's definitely a factor,
putting say on the jury.
I also do think that, yeah, when you go to a tribal council
with six people, and it's a vote that
is as high stakes as either making the jury
and being there for the rest of the experience,
sometimes you do fall into it being like an easy,
optimal vote and all these people,
if they get along with each other,
it can just come down to a matter of like,
let's just all wake up here together tomorrow.
And if Say is the one who has sort of been like,
causing issues or making people stressed out in the game,
like for us, that was was there's certain someone like
sometimes that's the easy vote.
Yeah, Annika I really thought that if Seagot voted out we were gonna get a big reaction.
Okay I do feel like we would have gotten a big reaction had she not seen the block vote.
If it was a pure blind side and she did not see it coming and she thought the vote was
going to be Mitch, yeah, I think we would get a massive reaction.
Which we're kind of...
I disagree with that.
Disagree with me, do I?
Because she's gotten her name written down almost every time, right?
That is true.
And she seems to kind of expected that she's going to be a target for a while.
And the way she's played the game so far, I kind of think she'd understand like
getting about, even if it was like a 5-1, she did know it was coming.
True.
I kind of think she wouldn't be the person to blow up just because she got bowed out
there.
Like she knew it was coming this time, but I don't, given what we saw about her, the
way she's been playing the game, I don't think she would have like had a reaction even if
it was like a 5-1, genuinely.
Okay.
Can I ask a question?
Sure.
You're the expert.
Come on.
What?
Because, you know, RIP, sir.
Right?
But I'm just wondering, you know,
what constitutes behavior that you're like,
we can't have that person on the jury?
So I really feel like that Say was at such an interesting spot
in her game, because I feel like that she was like one vote away
from being the person that people like,
boy, I gotta get to the end with Say.
And that was also, I think, a little bit dangerous
for the other players who might be feeling like,
well, I don't want her taking one of my spots,
but I don't think they were there yet.
Yeah, it's early for that to be the thought.
Let me see, who can I ask?
Teenie.
They're like, what way do people start thinking about that?
I would say.
Look, and I ask you Teenie because that you look
like these other people, they didn't see that far.
You know what I'm saying? I'm not picking on you. Well, unfortunately, I think I kind of see that far. That's good for us. I'm not picking on you.
Well, unfortunately I think I kind of was that person,
so I don't know, I'm the best.
Yeah.
Dwight.
Alright, you're sitting here.
There's two people that were on Survivor 45.
There's two people that were on Survivor 45. There's two people that were on Survivor 47.
Are you thinking that maybe you're a big devote tonight?
You know, maybe they'll just look at each other
and I can just sit here in the middle
and be perfectly fine.
That always works, right?
Does anybody wanna make a K a pitch to Dwight
about why you should vote with them?
Dwight, as I'm the only woman on this tribe
and teeny does I want to work with all women anymore,
maybe we can talk.
I got you, I got you.
Okay. Yeah, we'll talk.
Dwight.
Caleb.
I didn't wear a black buff up here
because I've been on the black tribe for a long time.
So, you know.
So.
Wow. Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
I'm hoping we can figure something out.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
I'll go to her if you tell me to.
That's a good point.
That's a good point.
That's a good point.
That's a good point.
Fair enough.
Fair enough.
Fair enough.
Fair enough. Yeah. Yeah. Annika, tell me, do you think Cedric did anything wrong tonight?
Tonight?
Yeah.
My God.
Let's consider his whole game.
It's interesting because the people that he was, you know, unluckily placed on that tribe with, really did make him the odd man out. And I
think he did, he could have tried maybe a little bit more or maybe we didn't see
it, to fight a little bit more to get them to flip on each other. It almost
seemed as if the rest of the people were trying to make the flip happen to grab
him alongside instead of Cedric maybe owning it, but also that could have been the edit, we don't know.
Okay, all right.
I think we're getting to about time to vote.
Does anybody else have anything they wanna say?
Give it to Tini and Brandon.
Give it to Tini and Brandon.
Oh, I'm good.
I work for this podcast, so if I get voted out,
I'm going to be on the next panel, most likely.
So don't vote me.
If you are done with me on this panel, don't vote for me.
It'd be good.
All right, under each of your chairs.
Oh, whoa!
Yeah, listen, I put it there.
I worked on this podcast.
Mine's under your chair, I'm just kidding.
Okay.
We have a parchment.
Now, we're gonna ask you to write down a name,
but don't show it to us,
and then we're gonna reveal it.
One at a time.
Five person tribes, danger is fun, right?
This is what they say, okay?
All right.
I'm not in the whisper.
So some, it's a live tribal everybody.
All right.
Brandon, is right, nobody's votes got blocked.
Nobody's playing the shot in the dark, it doesn't look like.
Okay.
Yeah, okay, I got the right guy.
What's on your shirt?
These are dogs?
Yeah.
I got that dog in me.
Get that dog on me.
The dog on you?
Okay, all right, is everybody locked in?
Okay, all right, all right. Let? Okay, all right, all right.
Let's start with Brandon.
Brandon.
Eric Reichenbach from Survivor,
and I know, we're gonna get to the point in a second.
Eric Reichenbach is the only person,
I think, in Survivor history to write his vote this way.
And I never got to write a vote down,
so I wanted to do that.
So I wrote Caleb this way.
Caleb, one vote Caleb, it counts, I'm sorry.
All right, Dwight.
Well, this was probably your idea.
So I wrote your name down.
You're putting me through.
One vote Caleb, one vote Brandon.
Okay, Teenie.
I went with the majority for the first time.
I voted for Caleb.
That's two votes Caleb.
One vote Brandon.
This vote is solely a personal vote.
This person spilled red wine on me earlier today.
I'm gonna go with Caleb.
Caleb, Caleb I'm, that's enough.
Wait, wait.
You wanna play my show on the dark?
That's a Sifu?
Sifu's not even here.
Sorry, not safe.
Okay, sorry, Caleb, this time the tribe has spoken.
I'm sorry.
Caleb, do you have any final words for the panel?
You know, I really, you know, as Say said, they're obsessed with me.
You're supposed to say like they said these bastards Yeah, hey
It is not easy to come out here and break the ice. So thank you to our first panel
Sorry for you Caleb, okay
All right
For being the person voted out. I'm sorry. We take away one of your drink tickets tonight. Sorry to say that
Okay. Thank you all so much. Okay. See you at the after party Being the person voted out, I'm sorry, we're taking away one of your drink tickets tonight. Sorry to say that.
Okay, thank you all so much, okay?
See you at the after party.
All right, was that fun?
Did you like that?
Yeah, I thought so, I thought so.
Annika is stealing the microphone,
Timmy is stealing the microphone.
Okay, thank you so much.
All right, we've got another new era tribe.
I don't know who it is.
Let's see, what color is this?
Pink.
Pink, alright.
Let's bring out the pink tribe.
And it looks like, oh, it's Gabe,
Mariah, Evy,
we've got Emily and Bruce.
Now let me just, let's spread the microphones out a little bit if we could get like every other person
and then the microphones are like kinda all gravitated
this way.
All right, how's everybody doing?
Doing great. Where else in the world would you rather be than right here right, how's everybody doing? Doing great.
Where else in the world would you rather be
than right here, right now?
That's right.
Oh yeah.
Personally, I'd rather be in Fiji,
but you know, this is fine.
This is okay.
Yeah.
The weather's basically the same, so.
Obviously.
All right, Pink Tribe here.
We've got, of course, great allies, of course, Emily and Bruce.
Day one, day one.
Yeah.
And then...
Allow me to push back on that real quick.
Before we knew each other, we were friends, so it's good.
Afterwards, afterwards, it was anyone to guess.
And three people who didn't play together in Evy, Mariah, and Gabe.
Okay.
No.
All right.
I think I'm officially like old, new era.
Yeah.
You're a geriatric new era.
You're geriatric new era.
Thank you.
You got it started.
And Evy, as the episode was airing, you said, I hate the Split Travel Council.
Obviously.
I don't think that's what they said.
What was the exact wording again?
Well, this is a family program, so.
Okay, there we go, okay, I gotcha.
Okay, does, seeing it now,
is there any staying off of the Split Travel Council,
which we've done every season in the new era?
No, absolutely not, absolutely not.
I think, like, honestly, those were, let's be honest, kind of straightforward votes at the end of the
day and ultimately how robbed were we of having Cedric and say together at
Ponderosa? Like that's the tea. That's what we want. It really is a
bummer that like in the one vote where they were you know they were together
the whole season even last week she said she she got her lick back on Cedric
and it was great and that he didn't even know
that she voted for him.
And then we never even got to see the payoff to that story
and then they end up separated and both voted out.
But it's poetic, you know?
I guess they belong together.
In some way, it's poetic,
but we didn't get to see the payoff to that story
unfortunately
Alas, you know we must go on and
Gabe tell me you had a weird split tribal last season
Where then we had Rachel left in the middle. You guys got left back with your old tribe.
What's it like, this split tribal council?
And ours is with the jury on the line too.
So it's very, very cagey and it's very nerve wracking.
And some people up here already talked
about how you just want to go with the easiest name.
It's you're sitting around the fire,
you're hanging out on the beach,
somebody comes up and says,
let's do this person tonight.
And that's all you need to hear,
because it's not me, and all right, let's do it.
And for us, that was Rachel.
And we were all very excited to get Rachel out of the game
because she was such a big threat that went on to win.
And then, Saul got out of here tonight,
but Saul threw a little bit of a wrench in our plans.
He did tonight what he did to Rachel at that vote.
Yes, exactly, exactly.
He's like, safety without power.
Yes. Boom.
And so then we had to have this big live tribal
that was this huge scramble.
And I mean, I still felt pretty good
about how it was gonna go,
but it's just like, the jury is house money, you know?
Once you hit the jury, everything after that is like,
I honestly kinda don't care if I get voted out now
because I'm gonna be here till the end.
If I'm gonna come and...
If I'm gonna come and I'd rather get to hang out
at Ponderosa for a week than finish in third place.
Yeah, I will stand by that wholeheartedly.
Alright, Emily.
Hold on, I wanna hear what Emily has to say. Hold on.
I'm seeing some big reactions.
That's bullshit.
And also...
Sorry, this is a family show.
Family program.
Push back.
If you're not playing to win, you might as well get off the freaking island.
You know? I don't know about anybody else,
but I don't think anybody on my season was sitting here
like, well, if I just make the jury, I'll be happy.
It's like, no, no, no, no.
Every single person out there was like,
I don't care what happens, I wanna get to the end.
Which is why these split tribals suck.
Because every single person out there is like,
I wanna get one step further to the end,
and all I can do at this point is take an easy vote.
One person has immunity.
I'm already sitting in a tribe.
My vulnerability has gone up tenfold.
If we didn't have the split tribal, I would bet a hundred bucks to anybody in this audience.
Say would not be sitting at home right now.
It wouldn't have happened.
A more interesting person would have been voted out.
I think that this stage of the game is so cagey,
and you get to the point where you want
the easiest possible name to come out for us.
It was a stage before, but it was Rome.
Like, you know, Rome would have been a great guy,
maybe the best guy on our entire season,
to sit next to at final tribal council.
But he was so easy to vote out at a stage
when the stakes were so high.
Because he was a pain in the ass.
Yeah.
That's why.
Someone who may know something about that up here.
He was an absolute pain in the ass.
I'll tell you, listen, I understand where you're coming from.
You're being nice, you're playing good
in the sandbox right now, and I can appreciate that
because I was always very, very nice to everyone.
Same.
Tell you all laughing at. But the fact of the matter is is that at this point in time when I saw Say
go home I was happy as a pig and shit and older people know exactly what he programed.
I'm sorry she had to go. The reason why she had to go. I'm voting for Bruce panel. I'm voting for Bruce.
The reason being is because it's like they like they said it was would have been
chaotic in Ponderosa. Ponderosa means a lot.
There's so many voices that happen,
so many different things that happen in Ponderosa.
I sat there and listened to all the conversations,
you know, all the conversations that it was like,
I'm voting for this one, I'm voting for this one.
Then that person gets voted out,
and now they're sitting in Ponderosa.
Hey honey, how are you?
It's so good to see you, welcome to Ponderosa.
And now you don't vote for that person,
oh, that other person's opinion, yes, we're all gonna vote for that person. It's so good to see you. Welcome to Ponderosa. And now you don't vote for that person. Oh, that other person's opinion, yes.
We're all gonna vote for that person.
It's like, come on.
But first, you think they vote,
anyone's thinking about that when they're voting,
of like, that will be an annoying experience at Ponderosa?
No way.
Everyone's like, I mean, they should, frankly.
That could've improved my experience.
That's why I was there.
Okay.
Yes, they think about that
because they're extremely smart people that play this game.
They think multiple steps ahead.
Don't play chess with them.
That's all I'm saying because they're going to think ahead.
So they're thinking about jury management well before you actually get a chance to go
to the jury.
And that's just, that's honestly something that can be proven by asking any person that
ever played this game.
You are thinking ahead to the jury.
All right, let me hear what Mariah has to say.
Oh, hello.
So personally, I was so excited to see say on the jury,
which makes me feel like this was 100% the right move.
If I, as a viewer, are like, oh my god,
what is going to come out of this woman's mouth,
that is my worst nightmare to pitch.
So you look around and we have like 15 different
Decisions between five people up here. There's no way we're getting consensus to vote this person out
That's chaos right there. And when you're on the bottom chaos is your best friend
So I I agree Emily
I think that if you were able to get through not a switch rival
That's a large number of people to wrangle
through a lot of different opinions.
But I think what I'm trying to make sense about with it,
like I understand like, oh, say on the jury,
who knows what she's gonna do,
but I just feel like that she was like
an equal opportunity offender.
Like there wasn't like one person that she had it out for.
Who was the person there?
Was it Chrissy?
Was it Mitch that was saying?
Yeah.
I mean, she mentioned no less than 400 times
that he wrote her name down.
Yeah.
I think that like, say it's like, burn me once.
Yeah, I'ma light your house on fire.
So I think that personally, like,
that's a liability to have in a game
of it's not a oopsie or like no offense
there it is a you burn me and you have no shot with me. Can we take a minute to
appreciate that that is a Boston Rob game and if it was Boston Rob on the
screen everybody would be screaming be up in arms about the fact that Boston Rob just got voted out.
But because it's Say I think the perception is different and granted I
understand that the strategy is different
and you're coming in with different experiences,
but I genuinely think that Say played a very similar game
to Boss and Rob, which is you're either with me
or you're against me.
And the fact that you wrote my name down,
that means you're against me.
So get on board or get out.
And I'm sorry, I'm a Say defender to the end.
Listen, listen.
Yeah.
But Emily.
I love Say.
I would have watched her on this every single week,
but Boss and Rob, it's like, are you with me?
Are you against me?
Was anyone with Zay?
Yeah, and that, I think, is the big difference,
is that, and everybody who watches at home,
they only get the snippets.
Obviously, it's the biggest cliche,
but everyone's like, well, why don't you bring
that person deeper, because there's such a nuisance that they're the best shield in the game, but
you don't know what it's like to live with a nuisance 24 seven.
You don't know what it's like to live with a room when you don't have a bedroom.
I have an idea.
You know, I mean, like, like, and, and it's just such a, uh, a big part of the
game that I don't think the show quite knows
how to show all the time to the audience
that it's like, yes, if you were playing a board game,
they would be the perfect shield.
But I got to listen to this guy or this person
talk for 12 hours a day.
And I don't want to listen to him talk for 12 hours a day
anymore.
I just want him to go home.
And even if it's a bad move, I don't
want to deal with the social implications of dealing
with that person. And how many different confessionals
from different people on different tribes did we get saying say really rub
me the wrong way socially and so I think a lot of this vote too was a peace of
mind vote and I think that's something that doesn't get talked about in the
meta of survivor a whole lot or sometimes you just vote for your peace
of mind so that I can wake up tomorrow not dreading
to have a conversation with somebody.
And just from what I hear on the show,
it sounds like a lot of people were dreading conversations
with Say that they didn't want to deal with anymore.
And it's both the, oh, now I have to talk to Say,
but then it's also the, there's no collateral damage
to either Say or Cedric being voted out, right?
Like who are you having to make up for that at camp?
Right?
There's no damage control coming out of a save.
There's no damage control afterwards.
Yeah, except for us.
The collateral damage.
We're sad, we're sad about it.
I just, continuing on from where we were last week
with the earn the merge,
like I feel like that everybody is craving
for that easy vote.
And so that was the easy vote to do last week.
To just, okay, we got charity consensus, great.
Let's just do that, let's not rock the boat.
And then I think that say ends up just falling into that
again this week of everybody's just like,
okay, let's just get through this.
And I really feel like that the game starts next week
in terms of the post-merge.
Which brings us to the central thesis.
Fuck the double tribaltribal.
And mercatory.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We'll beat that out.
Okay, all right.
The family show.
Apologies.
We're allowed one F, I think, to make it PG-13.
I think that's technically right in the law.
Yeah, I think that's, you're okay.
You're okay.
Every one of you guys are okay with that?
Okay, all right. But, now this was a little bit
of a heated conversation here.
Mariah, did anything that was said on the panel tonight
sway how you're gonna be voting?
No, no, I just wanna start off by saying
that I'm not wearing pink,
because I've worn pink my whole life.
But, I mean, I think I'm not wearing pink because I've worn pink my whole life. But I mean, I think I've known you all for, you know, 15 minutes, so I will, you know,
not be taking into consideration anything personal.
It is just business tonight.
But I actually do want to touch on something real fast about the like, oh, like you're
living with these people and and that really drives it. But there is a huge strategic element there
of once you see a crack, it is so easy to become a canyon.
You see one thing wrong with someone,
you're like, oh, you talk too much.
That really grinds me a little bit.
Oh, they're off there.
They have to be searching for an idol,
because I have that negative impression of them.
So there is something to be said about,
I am not a big fan of them, and now I'm
looking for every single thing wrong,
and that's just what I feel about you.
Emily, anything else you want to say before we vote?
I'm voting for Mo.
OK, wow.
OK.
Sorry.
Was it the canyon metaphor?
It was too good?
Yeah, I'll tell you what.
I did, Jeff did ask me for a metaphor
during one of the tribal councils.
And I literally said, I can't give you one
because I don't, I'm not that quick witted.
And anybody who is that quick witted is such a red flag.
So I, I genuinely encourage our entire panel,
especially you, Bruce, and especially you, Abby.
I encourage everybody to vote for Mo.
I just want to put it out there,
my least favorite player is Aubrey.
So I just want to say that right now.
All right, you all have parchment
and a pen underneath your chair.
But one of you is about to join Caleb at Ponderosa
as the second player voted off of this panel tonight.
Okay, let me know when everybody's ready.
Last time we started down here, okay.
All right, is everybody locked in?
Okay.
Bruce, you ready?
Let's go baby. Let's go.
Alright, alright.
Let's start with Gabe this time.
We'll go this way.
This was tough.
I didn't have my usual extra vote of Sue Smey with me.
So I kind of had to go this one alone for the first time ever in my survivor career.
You didn't draw the picture of the person, right?
You wrote their name down?
What?
You would have known anyway.
You were a killer at that game.
So for the first vote of the Pink Tribe Tribal Council.
Yes.
Bruce.
That's one vote Bruce.
Okay.
Okay.
Mo.
It's nothing personal and you know,
I will take your respect and I will earn it
when I am at final three.
So I am also voting Bruce.
Bruce.
You're the only one who wants to play an idol.
I wanna play an idol.
Do you have an idol?
Emily would have put her hand on your shoulder
and made sure you didn't play.
Yeah.
Hey, strike two, strike two.
All right, strike two. Woohoo.
All right, Evie.
You know, sometimes it's the luck of the rock draw, sometimes it's the luck of where your
seats are in the arena.
I also voted Bruce.
Emily?
That's three votes, Bruce.
I think that's enough.
This was a funnier bit when I thought I was getting voted out.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Emily?
And this is now incredibly dark, because I guess you do
make the same mistake twice.
I voted for Bruce.
Bruce, who do you vote for?
Bruce voted for Anne.
I'm sorry.
Bruce, but I voted for the one.
The panel has spoken.
Please get off Bruce's neck everybody.
I really would like to say that I appreciate the hate.
If it is gonna make me stronger,
it's the hate that I've received tonight.
I wanna thank my mom for giving me this thick skin
for all the hate that I got tonight.
But I love you all, and I'll see you in the parking lot.
Okay.
All right.
He did make that threat prior to the tribal council as well.
So, we're strong.
This was an incredible group.
Does anybody else have anything else they want to say
about the episode or this group at tribal council?
Yo, shout out to Mary, last one on her tribe, right?
Shout out to Mary.
The last one standing, baby.
Let's go, let's go.
The sole survivor of Vula.
I am looking forward to this season,
and so far it's been a hit.
I've had so much fun, a lot of people ask me
what I think about the season, and I'm just loving it.
I am absolutely loving it.
I'm gonna say probably one of the best
of the new era so far.
I'm loving this, it's great.
Okay. I'm gonna cash in on some cheap best in the new era so far. I'm loving this, it's great.
Okay.
I'm gonna cash in on some cheap applause.
Thank you so much to all you guys.
We don't get to do fun stuff like this with you guys
if you don't show up, so seriously, thank you so, so much.
It's so much fun, thank you guys.
Yeah, all right.
Let's give it up for the Pink Tribe.
Thank you all.
I'll see you tonight, okay?
All right, we've got one more tribe of new era players
and you all are doing so great that I think you're on track
to have an old era panel too, okay?
What color?
Orange tribe, let's bring out the orange tribe. It's Asia.
Caroline, Charlie, Jake, and Caleb
back from Redemption Island.
What the hell happened?
How come you're back?
In Survivor, if you're out in the first 15 minutes,
as my boy Bruce will tell you.
Yes.
They'll give you another chance.
Okay, all right.
We got all the, we got the microphones spaced out?
Great, great, okay.
Let me say hi to everybody new first.
Asia, how are you?
Hi, Rob, I'm doing well.
How are you doing?
Yeah, this is great.
First time here on the panel in the Survivor show.
I was just telling them backstage.
I was like, ooh, I'm a little nervous.
This is the first time.
What's it like?
It's different.
You know, it's same stage, same guy right here,
but I don't know, just a little different, like, I don't know,
swag, I guess.
OK.
All right. Caroline, how are swag, I guess. Okay. Yeah.
All right.
Caroline, how are you?
I'm doing wonderfully, how are you?
Yeah, look, this is going great so far,
if I may say so myself.
Yes, the bar has been set so high.
Honestly, both, all of us were talking at like backstage.
Well done to the previous panelists.
We'll see what we have to talk about,
but yeah, they killed it. Well, how lucky did we get here tonight to get the grip strength challenge when Charlie's here?
Yeah.
I didn't hit one of those though. Yeah. Charlie, but you can take down David, right?
Oh, come on.
Easy.
Easy.
I would have hit, I would maybe go like this.
Yeah.
The reverse.
Nice.
Nice.
And Jake's here.
Jake, how are you?
I'm doing great, Rob.
How are you?
Thanks for coming up here.
Yeah.
OK.
Look at this.
Now, for this, Caleb, maybe for this
next vote, okay, we got two forty-fives, two forty-sevens, and Charlie's in the middle
this time. As usual. Literally and figuratively. I mean, we have the opportunity to do the
funniest thing possible, right? You know, something that we haven't talked about tonight which I thought was also a pretty
good fake out was that Shaheen was going to get voted out and Kyle and I was whispering
going on here at the tribal that that Kyle and Camilla were going to get a preemptive strike in on Shaheen.
How many of you thought Shaheen was gonna go home?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It seemed like it because they were really trying
to sell it.
Let me ask, would that have been a good move?
Should they have done that?
Absolutely.
Like, I just don't understand why you would want
to get rid of somebody who is consistently
awful at challenges.
It's not like one thing, you know, like he has his one thing, like, oh, you got to worry
about Cedric with this.
We haven't seen it yet.
Like, we haven't seen it yet.
Like, that was, that's one less person you have to worry about in the individual immunity.
So I mean.
Yeah.
Charlie, what the hell is this?
People think that Shaheen has an idol and they don't vote him out?
What's that?
Well listen, it's not Shaheen to me.
It's the infamous SD, the season 46 alternate who, oh, beard guy.
So we know him. We know him and we know he's got some
tricks we know he confirmed that he was trying to get us all to say we wanted to
vote him out so he could get back on Survivor so he's got some tricks up his
sleeve I see what they're saying yeah Jake I loved it where you know Kyle I
think is the first one to talk about like how could we like manufacture this?
Preemptive strike and Camilla goes right to work
Telling the fake story of how Shaheen might have found the idol Camilla so good. I love watching Camilla
I think that
Shaheen going home would have been the right move for Kyle excuse me the right move for Camilla the wrong move for Kyle I been the right move for Kyle. Excuse me, the right move for Camilla,
the wrong move for Kyle.
I think the right move for Kyle was Cedric going home there.
But for Camilla, where she's not included
in this group of five, like separate Kyle from that more.
I don't think that's a bad idea
if she could have got that move
and unfortunately it didn't happen for her.
But I love the idea.
She just gets to work right away.
It's so beautiful to watch.
As soon as she got to work, I was like,
oh, this is gonna work. Shaheen's going home. Like we trust in Camilla, right? Yeah.
So what do we think happened?
Why like was this either a
like just a very embellished like fake plan that never really got off the ground or do you think that somebody
Called it off. I think David called that off. I don't think David was gonna allow that to happen.
I don't see David playing.
I feel like David wants to take that five,
that's what it's gonna be.
If you wanna move that five, David has to go.
Yeah.
Right?
I mean, I think it was gonna be a lot to explain also
to Joe about why did we do it, but like last week,
or was it two weeks ago that we got that hey this is this four-person alliance they're like
they're locked in it seemed like a little out of nowhere that like we're
going after Shaheen now you know I know this season's all about there's a bunch
of humble traits yeah that were brought up and it's I feel like this is actually
good for Camilla and Kyle to have a humble trait and not have every plan
go their way.
It's like finally.
Yeah.
That's a good point because I think that if they do
make this move, and we don't know if they called it off
or if David is like, no, I'm not going to go with that,
that it does really put a spotlight on them.
And they talked about in this episode
and a couple of the other episodes about like,
we're in the best spot.
Nobody knows about us.
But then people would start to know about them.
100% I completely agree.
And especially if one of your big alliance bonds
is we're not gonna backstab each other.
We're all about honesty, integrity, and strength.
And then you get out the person who's perceived
to be the biggest strength.
Like this isn't just an alliance. When like the foundation of your alliance honesty, integrity, and strength. And then you get out the person who's perceived to be the biggest strength.
This isn't just an alliance when the foundation of your alliance
is something like that.
And that's the very thing, the reason why you target someone.
I think if they did go after Shaheen,
I would be the next person to go home, potentially.
Caroline, do you feel at all like this is your season
where it's the first person that's like makes
that big move at some point whatever the whatever the move is now when they get
back together everybody's gonna be like looking at that person. I think it's
something that at least as a viewer we perceived with maybe season 46 and what
it's like 47 was very cautious to not replicate and if anything I think a lot
of oftentimes in season 47 if someone made a huge move we were like, are you gonna start the chain?
Are you gonna be the next person we go after?
So I think it was something that was definitely very cognizant in 47 and we were very
Cautious about and maybe you kind of saw it in some of our gameplay. But yeah, it's a very real concern that we had
Jake should they have had a flash forward in this episode
where we saw how the plan would work to vote out Shaheen?
I love a flash forward, you know?
Ocean's 48, let's get one, you know what I mean?
What a lot of them.
Should they have gone to Rocks?
Yes.
Ask me if they should have done it on the first vote, yes.
No, Charlie, you were kind of the Mitch in your season, Yes. No. Ask me if they should have done it on the first vote. Yes. No.
No, Charlie, you were kind of the Mitch in your season,
right, where it's like, oh, like, okay,
I think Maria had immunity.
It's like, well, I'm kind of, I'm dead to rights.
I'm here with, what was it, Liz and Soda
and Venus and Tevin.
It's like, oh, I'm done.
And somehow they didn't come for you.
Yeah.
And we also had a very short-lived
Strongest Players Alliance as well.
I don't know if you've heard of the six.
Yes.
Yes, so there are a lot of parallels here
and Caroline got me thinking
and it is really important I think
to have your Honor and Integrity and Strength Alliance
survive like one vote.
That's big.
Or else I think you throw out those words and they're gone.
So I think they probably made the right move
or probably everyone there was gonna be knocked up.
No, sorry.
Knocked up?
Knocked out.
I mean, who knows, but.
Whoa.
Hey bosses, What's up?
Now, Asia, help me break down this vote that's coming up here.
What are you thinking?
Okay. We have an easy vote, right?
We also have a couple...
Now, hasn't Caleb been through enough though?
No.
Not only did he get voted out in a split tribal council, he had to relive that.
He's also gotten voted out already tonight.
I can answer for myself.
First of all, second of all, I was noticing Jake, Charlie, and Caroline talking over there.
And I hope those three are working together.
So I'm wondering who else we could vote for.
In that maybe.
You saw some pre-gaming.
That's what I think.
A scramble.
Yeah, I'm new to this.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, we have two people who've never experienced being voted out.
No.
Asia.
We probably have options.
We're all together.
I have a-
Yes, Charlie?
What was the first thing Caroline said backstage?
Well, listen, listen.
Caroline and I go way further back than you know.
We have a familial connection. We do. Oh good for you guys. Aunt Camille. What is it?
Aunt Camille. Right Caroline? Absolutely. We both have a very special relationship
with my aunt. Okay now I feel we need to clarify.
Yeah.
What's it like having an aunt?
My aunt Camille spends a lot of money on Charlie Davis' Cameo account.
And is a fantastic person who is just the best.
For context, the day that I came back from Fiji,
I actually graduated from my MBA program
and my aunt Camille purchased a cameo from Charlie
to congratulate me on graduating,
during which Charlie sent the most heartfelt,
thoughtful, special cameo to me.
And in the back end said,
you know, you're also a really big fan of Survivor.
Let me give you all this advice on how to apply.
I'm like, actually all your advice really did check out.
And so then it was announced that I was going to be
on the show.
My Aunt Camille purchased another cameo from Charlie
to congratulate me on the fact of being on the show.
His advice worked.
And then of course I have to pay it back.
And so I buy a cameo from Charlie
to thank my Aunt Camille for all the cameos.
So.
Wow.
They're keeping the lights on.
Yes.
So basically, my entire family, emotionally and financially,
really supports Charlie.
Yeah.
Charlie has like a pyramid scheme
where he's like bleeding the Vidmar family.
It's a repeat business. And we're so enthusiastic about it. We are so happy to be a part of this pyramid scheme.
Wow, Charlie, that was an amazing cameo.
But will it matter when we get time to vote?
Okay, Jake, any final thoughts before we vote?
Not me.
Please?
Yeah, okay.
Oh, that was, okay, so I see some whispering.
Okay, Caroline.
Is this a live tribal?
Caleb, is it unsettling a little bit
that there's some whispering going on over here?
Yeah, so you're gonna whisper some sweet nothings to Jake.
I hope it's not you.
Thank you, Rob.
In the meantime, can I clarify something
from the earlier panel?
Yes.
I would much rather get third place
than spend days at Ponderosa.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Who said that, Bruce?
Gabe.
Gabe. Okay. Okay. Okay. Let the record, Bruce? Gabe. Gabe.
Okay, what the record show?
All right, I think it is time to vote.
Okay, Caleb and Charlie.
Okay, Caleb, maybe, does he have something?
We're voting on black people on Split Boat.
It's been a tough night.
It's been a tough night.
I did talk about being Trey-a.
I was like, I've seen who's been voted out, I might have to play my idol.
Alright, everybody is voting.
It looks like that Jake is locked in,
Charlie is writing, okay.
Alright, alright, this time, let's start with Caleb.
Alright, Caleb's almost done writing a long name.
Okay, multiple letters.
Okay, alright, alright, let's get to, alright, Caleb.
What? Okay, alright, let's get to, alright Caleb, what? I had a lot of trouble.
What did he write?
I was thinking about a few people,
but I ultimately settled on Caroline.
Okay.
Mostly because I didn't have enough time
to cross out another name and then keep going.
What was the first name you wrote?
Charlie.
You wrote, cross out Charlie, Trust Out Jake.
Charlie, yeah.
Okay, and for the people listening to the podcast,
he writes Caroline, okay.
It's one vote Caroline.
All right, Jake.
Sorry, Caroline.
That's two votes Caroline.
Charlie.
I would never betray Aunt Camille.
I would.
I would.
I would.
And in my brand new. Jake.
My brand new penmanship as well. Two votes Caroline, one vote Jake.
Basically this person was too big of a threat.
Thank you. This person was just too big of a threat. It's their city. It's time
for them to go. That's two votes Caroline. Two votes Jake. One vote left, Asia.
This feels good. Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, first of all,
I wouldn't vote out a fellow podcaster.
Okay.
And then I couldn't vote out Caleb for obvious reasons
because we've had enough, okay?
Just season after season, come on.
So it comes down to Caroline and Jake.
But clearly, you know.
It's like a Cedric situation.
Right.
You know, season 47, loyalty, so I had to vote Jake.
Sorry, Jake.
Yeah, Charlie, don't do this, this sucks.
Jake, I'm sorry, that's enough.
First time ever being voted out.
How does it feel?
I wish I had a torch, I wanna know what getting
in front of me is like now.
It sucks, you know what I mean?
You get used to it.
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't like that. All right. That sucks, you're right. You get used to it Orange tribe what a lively panel what a lively tribal council we had any other thoughts
Caleb how do you feel relief?
Not since you I got my dark. Yeah uncomfortable enough. No
Not since you got the shot in the dark? Yeah, uncomfortable enough.
No one would vote for me.
I'm glad it worked.
Yeah.
That's a nice feeling, right?
Finally.
I'm used to seeing once or twice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Charlie, anything else?
I think I've said enough.
All right.
Well, Orange Tribe, thank you so much. Great job.
Thanks, Robert.

Now, we have a big panel coming up next.
I'm going to make some room over here because we have, you all have
been incredible so far. So you deserve it. Let's welcome in people, once upon a
time, Survivor used to be 39 days. And these people live to tell the tale. Here they are. Jamal is here.
Brett LaBelle.
James Lim.
Learsa.
Sophie.
And the baby boy, Bryce Isaiah.
Wow.
We got our microphones spaced out.
Yeah, we got them spaced out out. Yeah, we got them spaced out nicely.
Woo, okay, all right.
Some of us don't need a mic.
Yeah, we need it for the audio, we need it for the audio.
Okay, gotcha.
Okay, yeah, how's everybody doing?
Woo!
Robert, I have lots of report.
Yes. Okay.
Cause I was sitting back there in that seat
and I'm pregnant.
Okay.
I am with child.
Okay.
You're the person who got knocked up?
Well, Melissa, Robert,
I don't know who the pappy is.
Okay.
Cause after that challenge,
it's either Kyle or David or Joe.
So we're gonna have to figure some things out,
but I am with child, okay?
Woo.
Congratulations.
Where are you registered?
It was a lot of milk, but I'm just saying like, oh, two gallons, just two gallons.
I'm sorry.
It's a late night.
How are you doing, Jamal?
I'm doing good.
I'm doing good, Rob.
Good to see you.
Good to be here.
What'd you think of the show tonight?
Oh my gosh.
Great show, great show. Great season.
It's the one that brought me back, I have to say.
I took a little break from Survivor, but I heard that this cast was bomb,
and I'm watching, and you guys are delivering. Thank you very much for this one.
Let me say hi to Sophie. Sophie, how are you?
I'm great.
So great to see you in person.
Sophie, Sophie, how are you? I'm great.
So great to see you in person.
I have to say I'm feeling a little ancient on this panel,
but I love that like Survivor doesn't change
in the back stages we're prepping to come on stage.
We have like, you know, people talking about
going on the amazing race together,
people talking about who's in the group chat.
It's like Survivor Alumni does not change.
Oh, you know, I haven't watched the show for a couple of years.
It's classic.
Yeah.
So Sophie, you were on the stage earlier tonight
and you talked about how you were at the very first RHAP live show.
We were 75 people in the basement of the Gotham Comedy Club.
And we out here now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Sophie, what do you think about this season?
I love this season.
It feels like not even a season in the 40s.
It feels like such classic characters.
And I do have like a PSA for tonight,
thinking about the episode,
which is one, I kind of want to build on Ava, not Ava,
Evie, sorry, Evie and Emily's thesis,
that double tribals like this suck.
Two more reasons, and then I'm going to tear it down and blame
all of us for the problem.
But two reasons they suck, two additional reasons,
because they made very good points.
One is that when you're on these small tribes,
the ability to stick together becomes so much easier.
Coming from the South Pacific, where we stuck together
with six people the whole time, you
can't stick together with 12 people.
And so the easy vote would have never
happened, because you would have had natural fragmentation
and suspicions.
That's another reason.
And then obviously, the whole thing
of coming back to a tribe who didn't know what happened
And having to defend yourself. Okay now circling back to your question about why I love the season
I do think that we all need to relax a little bit and appreciate the show
Mike white had an interview this week about white lotus
But he instructed his audience to not be I think it was bitchy bottoms. Yes
instructed his audience to not be, I think it was bitchy bottoms. Yes. He said, he said to people that said maybe it wasn't that interesting, he said,
hey, I'm edging you. Exactly. Nobody here went to the edge, right?
I felt like in this episode, I was being edged. Like, I mean, no, but like if you really like
that tribal council, the fact, sorry, not tribal council, the episode, the challenge, where you think
you're having this incredible challenge moment is over
and then it keeps going and you have the thing
with the commercial and there were so many beautiful moments
in the episode and I feel even more prepped
to enjoy the next episode because all of the character,
all of the character development just built and built.
And so I think if we all just like,
you know, bitch at the end of this episode,
that, oh, wasn't the episode boring?
All the obvious people went home.
We are part of the problem.
We have to enjoy the edging.
The season's awesome.
And if you want a twist in every single episode,
like watch Reindeer Games or something.
Don't watch Survivor.
Wow.
Robert, that was a lot, but Sophie, you prepped for tonight?
What color is your water?
Oh no, I'm just, oh no.
Yeah.
Let me say hi to Learsa also.
Yeah.
Hi.
Learsa, how are you?
I'm good.
Yes. Yes, is that, do you? I'm good. Look good.
Yes.
Yes, is that, do you think, is that what Mike White
would say about this episode of Survivor?
Mike and I have to have a conversation.
Because I changed my hair to be on White Lotus
and he hasn't called me yet.
Why not?
So, what?
I don't know.
I mean, I don't know.
Yeah.
Maybe I'll be on the fourth one, so who knows.
We'll keep our fingers crossed.
Me too.
What are you thinking about this season?
I'm really liking this season.
I think it's like a lot of like new, fresh faces,
but at the same time, like have a little bit
of an old game kind of style.
So I'm liking it.
Very strong personalities, which I always like
because I loved it and hate it at the same time.
And you know, I'm very honest.
People kill me, guys.
There's people that you hate?
No, it's just that, it's not hate,
because I honestly don't hate anybody.
Like, it's very difficult for me to hate people.
Like, it's so dumb to waste energy on that stupid stuff.
But it's people like,
it's people like,
ah, remind me of people I play with.
Oh.
And I'm like, ah.
But at the same time,
like as the season has developed,
I'm like, oh my God, they're kind of good.
Who's somebody that reminds you of somebody?
I don't want any names.
Why are you putting me on this spot?
Well, you don't have to say,
you don't have to say who they remind you of. I fixed my own relationship with this person, and I don't want any names. Why are you putting me on the spot? You don't have to say who they remind you of.
I fixed my own relationship with this person
and I don't want to bring it up
because even though I was very scared
of sitting next to them in the reunion,
I love them now.
We touch base with each other all the time.
So I congratulate them, white lotus.
I'm like, you look gorgeous, because they did.
But I'm not gonna name names because I don't want to do that
Trying to be polite. I'm trying to behave. This is a family show
Trying not to curse and be like
So yeah
Let me say hello to Brett. Oh
Right, how are you doing?
Oh. Brett!
Brett, how are you doing?
Rob, I'm doing well, thank you very much.
I'm so happy that Brett's here.
Yes!
One of the legends of the live show.
Right.
So nice to see you in person.
Well, it's good to be here at our Hap After Doc.
This has been great.
Yeah, no, it's good to be back.
It's good to be back.
I almost broke into song when it started,
but you didn't play the song at the beginning of this time.
We didn't play the note also,
because Steven doesn't come through this. No, you guys know how much I love the song when it started but you didn't play the song at the beginning of this time. We didn't play the no one else song cause Stephen doesn't come. No you guys know how
much I love the song. Where is Stephen? I'm not happy about that. Where is he?
Someone get him on the phone. Get him on the phone. Cry it out loud. We'll yell at his agent.
Yeah yeah well what do you think about this new era? I'm like I mean I'll tell
you look at I hate to throw it out there
cause this is a big thing here, but you know,
I do, I think the 39 days is important.
Now that being said, alright, alright, alright, alright,
settle down.
I will say though, I've really enjoyed the last,
a bunch of the seasons has been really good.
This season I've really enjoyed. Lot of big personalities.
I, the humor at the challenge was fantastic.
I really enjoyed that, thought it was great.
So I have been enjoying it.
And it's good to see Survivor still,
I feel like having good seasons like this
are gonna help the ratings and keep it going
for a lot longer, so I'm excited.
Brett, I know you always weigh in on the survivor pizza, but we
had some great pizza today. We got out to Luigi's pizza tonight.
Luigi's was absolutely fantastic. If you've never had I mean,
nothing like for G and pizza and I will say the one thing I will
say about the new. No, no, because I'm mad about this, Rob.
I'm not happy about this.
I'm gonna tell you right now.
All you new schoolers or whatever,
what are we calling it?
The new-
New era.
New era.
The pizza sucks.
Stop acting like it's good, Rob.
Cause if we keep acting like the pizza's good,
that damn Jeff is gonna keep serving it.
It's awful.
And you all know it. And you know it. It's cardboard. It's awful and you all know it and you know it.
It's cardboard, it's cardboard
and they throw some cheese and they slap
a little bit of sauce and some red shit,
probably ketchup and they serve it to you
like it's pizza, it's horrible.
Yeah.
I was just gonna say, I feel like it was a big night at Luigi's tonight.
I feel like that they might have had some champagne.
That was old school, as you know, New York, New Haven pizza.
That was old school, great pizza today that we had.
That was fantastic.
James, how are you doing?
Doing well.
I was on a DC for a work trip this week and I picked the return flight to Logan Airport just to make this show.
Awesome! Glad to be here.
Yeah. Okay. James, what caught your attention tonight?
Well, I mean, let me actually start by saying 39 days is, you know, I mean, come on now.
I feel like, well actually, so Rob came to get us in the first half the episode and I was like
You know what really defines old era and he was like 39 days. I was like, that's right
We played a version of the game that you know was the the og and just like the opening montage
For example, you guys all love the opening montage, right?
We lost the the iconic cash phrase 39 days 20, 20 people, one survivor.
It's gone now, right?
You can't say it anymore.
Well, I mean, I'm not old, so let's just be clear.
In my opinion, eight days, what else do you need after that?
Okay?
Survivors should be shorter.
Let's just be clear.
It's too long, is what you're saying.
Yeah, like I was pre-emerge, right? And It's too long. Is what you're saying. Yeah.
I was pre-emerge, right?
And I played 17 days.
They ain't on day 17 yet.
Like, come on now.
So that being said, I will, that being said,
I'll give the New York on my respect.
So I think what happened during COVID, I think I remember,
remember, season 40 came out during COVID, right?
And I remember I was quarantining in a dorm room
in the grad school, watching the season,
and kind of felt this kind of renaissance come back
for Survivor.
And the cast is awesome, is high caliber,
super fun people, the banter is amazing, right?
And CBS has also captured that personality
and that funness back into action packed episodes
that are full of storylines and emotions
and action and challenges that are epic right and so all the parts are coming
together to kind of bring back this new golden era of Survivor so definitely
hats off to that I just wish there were 39 days. Sophie can I ask you so I've
heard you talk about this, about how sometimes that,
maybe we don't always love how meta-survivor can be.
Like it's fun, but is it maybe, is it too much?
What'd you think about in the challenge
where the players are like doing the soundtrack
to the challenge because they already know what it is,
they already know what Jeff is gonna say on the commercial,
and they're predicting what Jeff's gonna say on the commercial, and they're predicting what Jeff's gonna say
on the commercial, and then he does the commercial.
I'm gonna give that a pass.
No, sorry, not passing on the question,
but I'm giving it literally a pass.
A pass, because I think it's different to be meta
about kind of things that have happened on the show,
and being meta about the show itself.
Like, the music doesn't change.
You're not reflecting on some like great
old school survivor player.
You're just loving the experience that you're having.
And it's the reflection on the past actions
and past moves and people that to me get boring.
Which by the way is why this season is so great
because I feel like there's been almost
no references to anybody.
And all of the vote outs too are so not meta.
The vote outs are so about the individual people that are playing
In that moment. There's not a single vote out yet. That's been about a threat even tonight
They didn't vote out the threats they voted out the people that they're playing with that
They don't like or they don't have very best relationships with so anyway this season passes the
Meta test. Okay. Yeah good job. Good job survivor 48
let me hear from you all,
like anything that we didn't cover tonight
that you might have seen.
Does anybody have stuff, Jamal?
Yeah, well, as I do, I just wanna highlight
the stories that are being told, right?
Because I think old era Survivor had a little something
to do with redirecting this show
to go back to telling good human stories. So Joe and Eva, come on, who didn't shed a tear when
they connected at the challenge? Mitch, come on, right? Like adversity, first of
all he needs to stop crying. He didn't eat for 14 days, come on now, all right?
Agree, agree. But his adversity, I can appreciate that. Even Kyle and Camilla, right?
Bonding over their background and we
getting that whole story.
And everybody else.
It just is so nice to really get to know these players,
their background, why they're out there,
what they're fighting for, Joe's kids, right?
This is why we feel so connected to those players.
So shout out to the way that they're
telling the story right now.
Yeah.
It's been a fun story.
Can I chime in, Robert?
I think something that I don't think
that's talked about enough on this episode,
I feel like it was whether or not you made the merge or not.
This was like the jewelry.
I also think telltale sign of a great season is the pre-merge.
And I think that this season we have a great pre-merge. It was a
great pre-merge. We had Stephanie, we had Justin, we had Bianca and I don't care
what nobody say, Say made a lot of this season right? So you know we're gonna show
love to our queen Say and I will welcome her to the pre-mergers, but you know. Now technically she's pre-jury.
Well, I mean.
She did make the merch.
But for me, if you ain't make the jewelry,
then you pre-merge, but that's just, you know,
maybe I'm old school, eight days, eight days to merch.
So that's all I got to say, but you know, listen,
I got a lot of hormones going into my body, I'm pregnant.
Okay, so there's a lot going on in here.
Kyle, you are the daddy.
He said he makes everything look good.
Feel good too?
Okay, nevermind.
No, that was David.
That was David.
That was David, sorry.
Would anybody else have some thoughts from this episode?
Okay, I have one more.
It might be boring to most people except for me, but one
of the things that-
You're spitting gold tonight, Sophie.
Well, I'm going to keep going.
One of the things I liked in that episode,
every so often when I watch the show,
I feel like I always watch my sister and my friend
Isabel who are here.
And there are these moments when I'm like,
that's the feeling of being on Survivor, that thing there
that's so hard to capture.
And the one for me tonight was during tribal council,
I think it was the one with Shaheen.
One thing that you don't often see on the screen
is that tribal council is this fascinating time I found
to almost let people think that they're seeing a side of you
that you don't want them to see.
Meaning tribal council, everybody's
kind of performing to Jeff.
And so you're starting to see people,
what are they trying to craft their narrative to be?
And on the surface level, everybody's
pretty good at faking it and saying somewhat things
to throw people off.
But you still are evaluating somebody
with that mindset of they're telling their story.
And so intentionally slipping during tribal council
and making people think, oh, you just
said something that you didn't mean to tell the whole tribe,
is this thing that happens that you can see people doing.
And I feel like on this episode, first you
saw Chrissy do it terribly, when she basically
admitted to the entire tribe that she just
doesn't give a damn about any of them,
and that she's going to eventually vote them all out.
But the way that Jeff, I can remember,
Jeff asked them all a question about,
what would you say to the person who's going home that night? And I feel like if you re-watch that Jeff, I can't remember, Jeff asked them all a question about like, what would you say to the person
who's going home that night?
And I feel like if you re-watch that scene,
you see some of them do it so well,
where you know they're kind of pretending to fake,
but they're actually faking.
Like there's, you can see people have so many
different levels to how they play that part of the game.
Anyway, that's the bit tonight to me
that was awesome was that scene.
Yeah, was that boring?
No, right?
Yes, great job, Sophie, okay.
All right, I'm starting to get the wrap up sign
from off stage, but I just want to make sure,
does anybody else have anything else they want to share?
James, are we voting anyone out?
No, I didn't, do you want to vote somebody out?
Look.
We can.
I feel like we have legends here,
I didn't want to put you through it.
I mean, I feel like that the new era people,
we can like put through it a little bit.
But did you all want to vote somebody out?
We don't have to.
Yeah.
But Robert, can you ask James a question for me?
Well, yes, ask who a question?
James.
James Lim, yes.
Ask James.
Havid guy right here, Havid.
Oh, yeah, listen.
But X James, is there a Boston Survivor Group chat?
James, is there a Boston Survivor Group chat?
Yes or no.
Yes or no?
Not that I'm aware of.
Okay, now Robert, now let me, X Brett.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, I'm just, you know I'm just.
No, you're taking this all wrong.
I thought you set it up.
I thought we had one that, I don't know.
I don't know.
We are gonna make one tonight.
Well Robert X Lear is there.
Is there a Philly group chat?
Is there a Boston group chat?
Well, I am from Philly, but I am a,
oh, oh, shout out to the Eagles.
Okay, where we at, Eagles? Fly, Eagles, fly. And I feel like the last time but I am a, oh, oh, oh, shout out to the Eagles, okay, where we at, Eagles?
Fly, Eagles, fly, and I feel like the last time
I was here eight years ago, I said the same thing,
but I am from Philly, but I am a part
of the Boston Group chat.
Ha ha ha ha.
Okay, all right, all right.
I'm getting the wrap up, but first of all,
thank you all for coming out.
This was an incredible panel.
So nice to, look, it's the new era
and everybody, they all get together,
but it's so nice to see so many of the people
who built this thing come out and come out to these shows.
So it's special to me that you all come out
and see these things. So thank you all to me that you all come out and see these things.
So thank you all so much.
Thanks to this amazing crowd.
You were perfect.
This was such a great room.
And I really appreciate it because sometimes
when the crowd is like talking during the show,
it makes it really hard to do what we do.
And you all were amazing.
So thank you so much. It means the world to me that you travel to come out
to see these shows. And so it's so cool. So thank you. So thank you all so much. Boston
has treated us so well. So thank you.
And there's so much more survivoror coming up here on RHAP.
If you're not subscribed to the podcast,
what are you even doing here?
You come to the shows,
but you're not subscribed to the podcast.
I want to talk to Sandra on Monday this week.
Plus, Stephen Fishback was live on Wednesday night
with Sam Phelan and for a Survivor Know It All,
so check that out,
and everything else that we're doing.
Thank you all so much for coming out.
Thank you to our hosts here in Boston.
It was so incredible to be here at the theater.
Thanks to Chappelle, who held it down on the live show,
the commercials, and Brandon Donlin,
who helped produce everything,
and Sam behind the scenes,
Derek's here too, so thank you all,
and we'll see you at the after party.
Goodnight everybody.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You are amazing.
Thank you so much, Boston.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you so much, Boston.
