Hi, everybody, and welcome to the RHAP B&B for week four of Survivor 51.
My name is Mike Bloom, and I guess we've officially closed the first chapter of Survivor 51.
No, but up the second looks a little like the past five years of the show.
But regardless, we're all sure isn't good, Juliana Boris.
It's Dina time.
Oh, no.
No, no.
Ring, ring, ring goes that Dina bell.
Okay.
Three tribes, obviously I was optimistic.
I didn't really go the way I was hoping.
But I think that there's still a decent amount for us to talk through,
kind of why that we think this happened.
I do think we got really unlucky with the tribe that ended up going.
So I'm still feeling high on the season overall.
But I do understand myself included why the reaction to this episode was maybe a little bit left.
luster. Well, I'm excited to get this person's reaction to not only the episode, but the season in general.
And look, I was quick to jump in. I'm like Ori. I don't really have a lot of opening lines.
Jenny Autumn, do you?
Let's start with hello. Hi. Thank you.
Thank you for having me.
Apparently my camera, there we go, we're good.
Jenna could fix that, by the way. She could. You know it's a lot about cameras.
I'm very excited to talk about Survivor.
It's been a while since I've gone to talk about Survivor.
And I've been really excited about the season.
It's been a great few episodes of the show.
It's been a great few episodes of the B&B.
And I hope that I'm not going to ruin some momentum on the B&B
the way that maybe the Three Tribes thing kind of ruined a little bit of momentum on the show.
But I think there's still lots of really good stuff to talk through and look forward to.
So I'm pumped to be here with my bro.
Oh my God, likewise, Brody.
That's the thing is that I see your point, Leanna.
And part of me kind of feels like this quote unquote low, low that we hit was only as a result of the high highs we have through the first three episodes.
It's like the coffee reward that was given out in this episode.
And if you see the secret scenes this week that Dalton Ross posted, like you see these people riding a high.
And now we're sort of like got immediately deprived of that fix.
And so now we're like, oh, okay, five person tribe, three.
personal alliance controlling things.
All right.
Well, it's fun to see people interacting
with each other at least.
Got to see Eric get talked down to
by Brady during the challenge.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, but that's the thing is there were still
like moments that were interesting enough to me.
And I think that the other tribe dynamics
also are very fascinating.
I think it's just the fact that we ended up
with maybe what might be like legitimately
the worst possible outcome.
Like the worst.
Because not only like if,
you were to ask me, hey, what are the super solid alliances on this season? The helicopter
alliance is number one with a bullet. We had the three of them together on a tribe. And with
Devon's arch nemesis Jenna, the most evil woman in the world. Once I didn't beef of the century.
Exactly. And just each, it was like, it just didn't even really feel like a question. I do feel like
shout out to the editors for giving us some credence to the Alexis thing. And shout out to Alexis for
being so wild that it was justifiable why they would want to get her out.
So again, like there was enough there.
But yeah, it was like the worst combination of like the power, those strongest alliance with
the strongest one-sided rivalry all in one tribe.
So I think that's why we kind of suffered a little bit.
But there's, yeah, there's still those nuggets there.
The Brady Eric moment was hilarious in and of itself.
The Kilby Eric bromance thing happening.
Like there's still some interesting stuff going on.
I heard this going around.
Is Eric Tim Robinson's voice twin?
Oh.
I, yes.
Between that and Omer, those again, like, I just, that's all that's in my head when I hear him speak or see him on screen.
And Tim, Tim Robinson would probably have a character like Eric, right?
Jenny being like, I love musical theater.
You do too.
You're my best friend.
I don't know about that.
You love warrior.
I'm excited for after a vote out.
It reminds me of the hot dog car,
hot dog costume scene or sketch
where it's who possibly could have done this.
It's like on air its fingerprints all over it.
Yeah, hilarious.
Same level of chaos.
I've never seen them in the same room.
So this could be Tim Robinson's, you know,
greatest role.
Well, let's talk about the players,
both on and off the stage here of Survivor 51.
Jenny through four episodes. Who's sticking out to you the most? Who are you loving this season?
Okay. Well, I have to get out in front of this. I would consider myself someone who I would say is like an F-O-K, a Falk, a Falker, if you will.
I know Kilby. I'm familiar with Kilby. I'm a friend of Kilby, or at least a knower of Kilby.
So we've got a cock. And so it's been very fun. And
And at times stressful to watch, you know,
Kilby play on this season with a lot of really big characters when, you know,
he's one of the big votes in the last week's episode.
But wow, like, I love everyone.
I just think that it's such a great mix of people that you're like,
of course, like this person really cares about Survivor has been trying to get on for a really long time.
but also just some of these like interesting characters.
Mike, I know you,
you had a tweet or a blue skeet or whatever about the farmers,
like three farmers.
Survivor EIEIIO.
Like this is just random people that are giving so much old school
just like this is a character,
this is someone that should be on TV,
whether they know the game or not.
And I love just getting people that are just like naturally
competitive that you unlock something in them once you put them in this environment and they're
going to give you, you know, good TV. That is how we get to where we're at in 51 seasons of
Survivor. Like, we had to start somewhere and that was from casting, finding, like, good people
that are interesting that are also kind of a bit crazy. And when you put them in this like pressure
cooker of a situation and they're playing a game and it's competitive, it unlocks their,
their potential.
So I really, really like this season.
And even though I think that the the game mechanics of this, you know,
certain week that we're having to discuss here where we're at,
kind of stifled some of the gameplay.
I think I'm just glad that it's not so prescriptive and meta-game,
like that we've had interesting votes.
We've had people maybe not acting optimally.
We've had people being messy.
And ultimately, that's, that's what I'm happy to watch.
I want it to be, it does really feel, I know that it was like, oh, we're getting,
drop the five, carry the one.
And that was what Jeff tried to sell with the new era.
But like, this does actually feel in some ways like a start, like a new start.
And I really do feel like I'm actually enjoying and looking forward to watching the episode.
in a way that I have not in a really long time.
Even, you know, even with 50 where it was like,
okay, I have like, you know, people that I care.
Like, I have invested feelings about.
Everyone's recognizable.
Like, I actually am looking forward to watching every week.
And like, I haven't been able to say that about like a lot of the seasons of like the last like
10 years.
Even while still following it and still having a mostly good time along the way,
this really has been fun so far
and I really hope that this week not
you know maybe being like the least
exciting of the four episode arc we've had so far
that that's not
going to be like a continue downward
trajectory yeah one of the
pros of season 50
Leanna everyone was recognizable
you could definitely figure out
who was who in the game
we heard from some people that we hadn't heard a lot from this week
so okay
yeah well I mean look that it that is
the one good thing about doing a swap,
even if it is for three tribes,
is that it does show us more of the relationships
that previously kind of went unknown.
So I think that that is definitely a benefit.
I think did everybody get a confessional this episode?
Or did we still have some ghosted people?
Because I would say, Christian, Christian,
the most of them credited.
I got worried for a second.
I know. I was like, oh, he's going home.
Yeah.
You go, that tribe's losing.
Yeah, exactly.
But yeah, he started to get some more content.
I think that, you know, obviously, again,
the Helicopter Alliance in Devin specifically
is like a big airtime sync.
And, you know, because of the way
that the immunity challenge ended up shaking out,
they did end up still getting a lot of content.
But the editors still have to set up
what's going on in the other two tribes,
which I think allowed them to highlight
some of those people that had been underedited
up into this point.
Yeah, so I want to talk maybe Devin is a bit in this corner as well
about the editing.
because it seems to me
like we're not necessarily
out of the No More Villains era
but part of me feels like
we're back into the habit
of low-key dumping
on a few people.
I want to consult with my cock here
because I do feel like
Kilby's one of them.
I think while he was able to successfully navigate
his way around the last boat,
I feel like last week certainly
it seemed like it was coming across
like he thought he was smoother than he was.
Eric, unfortunately, I think, has been sort of the target of this the entire season so far.
Mike, they really went in on the big dumper in a manner of speaking in this episode.
Do you agree, Jenny?
Do you feel like the way they're characterizing some of these people is different than the way it's been especially compared to the new era?
Yeah, and I mean, all of the examples you've given are interestingly are men.
And so I think that it's interesting that there's not a single,
if I'm looking at the cast and where we're at now,
that there's not a single man in the game that I feel like has had like a really,
like, oh, this is the mastermind, like running the game edit.
And even though I wouldn't say that there's like a clear edit like that for one particular
woman, I do think that we're not getting as much of that kind of edit for a lot of the women
on the cast, which I don't know what that says. We've also lost a lot of women so far. So we're like,
I was going to say, they technically have the numbers, even though they're being portrayed as like
kind of goofy cartoon characters. Right. Yeah. But I think that that's fun because I want that because I
think that the edit of the of some of the examples you gave here doesn't necessarily mean that any of these
people are out of the running to win Survivor.
We've seen people have rough starts,
really struggle on like a starting tribe,
or really like, you know,
be in hot water in a certain part of the game
and perhaps be edited with, you know, the Dodo music.
And I don't say that's like a 100% like you have no chance of winning.
I also think that they're maybe trying to like play around with the editing
as well in terms of like,
okay, well, when they do this type of thing,
like, you know, kind of flipping the script on the edgick of it all a little bit
because I think that a lot of people felt this way,
and this is maybe just some of my bias that I made Jenna,
my winner pregame winner pick that I was blindsided by the vote here.
I thought there were certain things I was picking up on the edit where I was like,
oh, I think like when they do this, it's actually this.
So I went into this really expecting it was going to be Alexis,
but it was also beautiful because I really, for my own personal rooting interest,
was hoping that Jenna would stay here.
But so I don't know.
I think that to build interesting characters,
you have to show them three dimensionally, if you can.
And that probably includes some kind of interesting moments
where they were maybe not, you know, doing well socially
or they, you know, said something mean about somebody,
somebody else and that doesn't look super good.
So I'm okay with this.
I want them to show this kind of stuff
because I think that it's a reality
of the social dynamics that they're playing with.
I just want to see more of it for other people too, right?
Like just make it make it as even as possible as you can.
I mean, at the end of the day, it's an entertainment.
It's entertainment, right?
The thing I love so much about House of Villains, for example,
is that they clown hardcore on the people who are in the show.
everyone. Yeah. And so I'm, I'm totally here for a little bit of that clown and around,
but also, especially when it does accurately reflect what's going on. Like, I would look to the
Brady Devon blind side of it all with Lewis and Carter last week, turning on them and them being
so arrogant that they were running the show. Like, that is also describing the reality of what's going on
and almost not shying away from protecting the castaways because I do think that in this era
social media. There's so much more visual, like there's so much more criticism that is
accessible to the players and to us. And so I do wonder if a shift in that sort of editing
style away from that was almost a way to protect the show, protect the castaways. Now they're kind
of getting a little bit back into it. And so I'm curious to see how things go. But I like that point,
Jenny, that you made about it being mostly men, which is really fascinating to me. Because I didn't
actually think about that. But yeah, most of those who are getting cloned on.
There are men.
Well, that's what I think Gabby described it well when it came to her thoughts on the season with Rob, right?
I think she said, like, they cast this season a bunch of really strong, powerful women, and then just a bunch of goofballs for the men.
And maybe it is to that point a little true to life.
I just think it's interesting because, again, you know, we have had only women be voted out so far.
They did have the numbers advantage.
That's not to say that we can't have a woman winner here.
but I think if you look at what a typical survivor edit is,
which is like reasonably complex, you're involved in the gameplay.
I feel like if a man wins,
they're going to be a very messy journey to get the day 26.
Mm-hmm.
And I think of all the men left so far,
I think I've seen Carter kind of get more comments about him,
potentially being a winner,
but even him would be flawed.
But I don't think that that's...
The guy who almost, we think, accidentally,
you need over to the other tribe and became important.
Yeah, them.
But I think after Aubrey's edit, where I'm not going to lie,
after Aubrey's start to the game,
I was like, there is no way they're going to show this
and have her ultimately win.
Like, how is that a satisfying winner?
And that's the way they chose to tell the story.
So I think that we certainly have to keep that in mind
when we think about the way that the story is being pulled,
is that 50 for me was at least a little bit of an anomaly
when it came to the winners at it.
And so I'm willing to apply that sort of similar logic to this,
be a little bit more open about the way that they're telling these stories.
That was,
and that was part of what I got caught up in thinking about the old formula where,
you know,
I was already thinking about like the montage for Jenna winning where in that first
episode and she survives this vote and Evan,
you know,
throughout the episode is basically saying like,
this is the kind of girl that if she gets through this vote,
she's going to win.
And then it's like,
I couldn't get that out of my mind.
I was like, oh, they left that in the edit for a reason.
But then I'm like, now looking back and I'm like, that's too obvious.
But I really didn't think that it was going to happen so soon.
So I was really going into this episode, even when, you know, on paper, such a terrible situation for Jenna.
I was convincing myself that I was like, no.
Because like Alexis was also giving me Bianca from 48.
and she also kind of got a little swap screwed
where it was like, you know,
she goes into the situation where like she could maybe,
you know,
kind of go a couple different ways and she's kind of trying to like
decide which person to pull over.
And I just felt like there was something about Alexis's energy
that really reminded me of Bianca.
So it was like I was having flashbacks
and I was really just like watching this whole thing,
you know, with that narrative.
So it was fun to be blindsided as well by the edit.
I like,
I think that's fun. I want to because I feel like there's been a lot of seasons in recent years where
I've been right about what happens because I'm like following this formula of the edit and felt
like I really started to understand what they were doing. So open era, if we're going to, if we're
really going to start changing certain things. And I think that there's probably people that would
argue that this was super formulaic and like they, they clocked it, whatever. I was fooled. And I feel like
I'm pretty good at reading edit. So I don't know. I mean, it certainly was.
I think up in the air.
I mean, even if you compare,
yes, Jenna had this massive story in episode one,
but if you look back,
she was actually pretty quiet in episodes two and three.
Maybe it was just her being like,
okay, I'm going to the background now.
Too much focus on me.
Let's widen the lens here,
whereas Alexis had this one moment in episode two,
but not a lot since.
I do think the more you think about it, though,
you know,
whether or not Devin and Jelly made the quote unquote right decision.
I think they did because they ideally want to work with Orii
first and foremost.
and if Ori says, hey, I would rather keep Alexis than Jenna, it makes sense.
I think when I saw the tribe lay out, I mean, first off, when Devin does say that he named
the deceased chicken after Jenna, that pretty much cooked her game quite literally.
But I think also, Leanna, it's this idea of like, we had our shot and we missed it the first time.
I have this opportunity presented to me.
We're now, we're the only votes that matter.
We were only two last time.
This time we're still two, but that's better in a tribe of fire.
Fool me once, shame on me.
Fool me twice.
Can't get fooled again.
It was definitely that energy where it was just like, yeah, we're not, we're not missing.
And I, look, I think that Jelly made a pretty strong argument about Alexis, but I think probably the combination of, like you said, Ori, but also Devin, basically having his eye on Jenna since that very, very first tribal.
There, I, yeah.
There was, I just didn't feel like there was any way.
that we weren't going to get that,
except for,
I will say,
Alexis's behavior on this tribe
with asking collateral
from Jenna with the shoes and stuff.
I was like,
okay,
she is making a good argument
as to why they should vote her out.
Right?
Yeah.
Like,
I didn't feel like even
the editors had to shoehorn
a second possibility.
I felt like it was a very real scenario.
And I do question that,
you know,
if it weren't for the fact
that Devin and Jelly are really,
you know, they are planning on working long term with Ori.
And so his,
his wants are important in this vote and they can't steamroll him.
That,
that plays a huge part in that maybe if,
if Ori didn't care about Alexis and was like,
let her go,
that's fine. But like we,
you know, if we go to the vote again,
obviously we're getting rid of Jenna here.
But the fact that he kind of like put his foot down and was like,
why would we,
why would we do anything else in this situation?
Like you don't have a relationship.
with this person and like Alexis is fine.
Like maybe she's a little messy,
but I know what she's doing at least.
So let's let's let's go with that.
Like there is a real scenario where if or didn't care that,
maybe maybe Alexis does go here.
I don't know.
I don't know how strong, you know,
really for Devin.
It does seem like Devin definitely is the one that had way more beef
with Jenna than Jelly.
and Jellie's just kind of like, you know, part of that alliance.
But it's not, it's not impossible that Alexis could have gone.
There, she gave good reasons to be like someone that you don't want to let get to emerge situation.
And also on top of that, I could see an argument for Devin and Jellie for, you know, showing, oh, yeah, we're Saobu.
That was their original tribe, right?
Or no, they were Toka.
No, Toka.
Like to be like, oh, we're OG Toka strong still, you know, or something like something along.
Like I could see an argument to be made.
But considering that I don't know what OG Toka means to anybody at this point,
considering they just had a 65 vote.
That's true.
I mean, honestly, that episode three vote,
depending on what happens over the next couple of weeks,
it may be the most impactful vote of the season,
or at least in the near future,
considering that in basically every single tribe,
yeah, it sucks for Jenna,
but they kind of assimilated like the five people who were on
out across these three tribes
were now like, oh, you have
Mike is in danger because
you know, Tinnon doesn't want
to necessarily vote with him. You obviously have
Kevin and Jelly as well.
You know, you have Brady over there. I was trying
to think of who the, no, the fifth
was Pat. So I guess we are only split
two and two in that case. But
still, it makes it an interesting situation
where Toga does have a
majority on two out of these three
tribes. And in theory, someone
like Kristen could be
almost as screwed as Jenna if this Toka tribe goes again.
But because it basically feels like they did their own tribe split before an actual tribe split.
It then creates these more interesting configurations than you think on the surface.
Well, that's something I was just thinking of as well is that like,
you know, that last round where it was 11, was it 11 to 7 that they were out after the accidental Carter mutiny?
quote unquote accidental we don't know
so and then you have that you know
split tribal so it it was kind of
already becoming Toka was kind of two tribes of their own
and then the smaller tribe of Savu
but that's where I start to wonder it's like
do you care about leaving a strong Savu
person in there that ultimately you aren't
aren't thinking you're going to work long term with if you're Devin and Jelly, knowing that
that side does seem very strong. And like, I think that there was a point in the episode and maybe
I miss heard what Kristen said, was, did she not say that when they were talking about the
vote where it was like 6'5 or whatever? And then she was mentioning that their group was very
tight. I can't remember if she said they weren't or they were. But
I was like, I took note of it in the moment because I was like, why would you say that?
You're the only one like from that version of the tribe that ends up over here.
Like I don't, I wouldn't be saying Carter, Carter.
Oh, are you talking about like that version.
Yes.
Like the seven after cart, you know, Rob goes and then Carter.
Yeah, the post Carter world where it's like, okay, well, you have this one tribe that is still
technically bigger, but they are fractured.
and then you have these seven people that everyone that was kind of on the outs is gone from that seven now and they're super tight and you're letting people know that then sorry the bigger like the bigger group is not that much of a concern to me the smaller and very tight group is way more uh you know scary and so that's where you think maybe you want to take an alexus out but i get it from devon and jellie's perspective especially with uh you know with or you know with or you know with or you know with or you know you're
So it was just like a really bad situation for Jenna
to like possibly the closest to worst case scenario
you could get in a tribe swap year.

Or that and enjoy.
Via Rail, love the way.
Well, not only that, if we talk about Devin and Jelly
really wanting to not make the same mistake twice
and getting essentially a chance at Jenna's head once again.
Look at ORI, Mr. Take the Layup, missed his opportunity
because somebody took the ball, ran all the way to half court
and shot the miracle shot.
Now he's like, okay, now we can actually do the easy vote.
Oh my God, yes, let me hop on it immediately.
So this is a chance for redemption for everyone in the helicopter alliance.
They were all, none of the three of them have ever voted in the majority before.
And now they finally do because they are the majority.
Aw, look at them go.
But I think not only the ramifications of the vote in episode three,
but also we see the vote in episode two come to play as well
with Carter and Kristen's relationship.
Yeah.
Which was very interesting.
By the way, Carter's whole confessional about him being a pig
and Kristen's trying to fat me up like a pig,
but I'm not a pig.
And then he does this little laugh to the camera.
That whole thing was so funny.
I mean, listen, I'm going to,
put my hand up here.
I might be a card carrying member of the
Carter Stan Club. I think he's my favorite character
of the season. Wow.
I mean, all the crazy take.
You know what it is
for me is that he's
this character who
ordinarily would be one of these
random background people like a sea bass type or it's like
oh, you're an interesting personality
and you get like your one spaghetti
sound bite in the premiere.
But he became too important at work
where he gets given an idol
and he gets left out of the vote
and he maybe gets stranded out of the other tribe
and then becomes a swing vote
where like now all of a sudden
he's surged to prominence despite the fact
that ordinarily we'd be like
oh yeah he's gone seven confessionals
comes with the name Carter.
I like the idea
that he's one, he girl boss too hard
and then also that he's
I'm imagining the montage of
you're probably wondering how I ended up here
the whole saga
I'm fascinated by him
the only reason that I am a little bit,
is just don't go against my girl, Kristen.
I am obsessed, obsessed, obsessed with her.
And this episode in particular,
when she's talking about how, you know,
I'm going to provide for the group
and also being able to articulate, like,
I care about how people feel about me, right?
Like, I want to, yes, it's the words that are said,
but I also care how they feel in relation to me.
And I just, I love that way of thinking.
I love that she's so analytical about it,
but also like very much tapped into knowing that she needs to appeal to the emotional side,
knowing that she can't just state facts and have that count, you know, for people being close to her.
Yeah, you can eat that thing.
Yeah.
Well, those facts maybe, yes, her Wikipedia level knowledge of the flora and fauna of Fiji.
But yeah, I just, and like, of course Carter is going to point out that he doesn't try.
Like, of course, like I understand Carter's reaction to her, but also just like, people alone.
I love her.
No, it's so true.
I mean, she's so, she's so analytical.
She is clearly a very strategic mind, but she's, I think where a lot of like people that
that is their greatest strength struggle is that they don't exude the, the warmth and
like nurturing energy, um, because they're so fixated on that kind of thinking and like they're,
you know what I mean?
It's just like they can come off unintentionally a little robot.
and a little aloof or like
kind of just like withdrawn
socially where I just feel like she
exudes this just this warmth
and nurturing nature without
being like overwhelmingly so
it's like just this like quiet
calmness about her like yeah
it's no question that she works in crisis management
and is clearly very good at what she does
because she just seems so calming
And I think that that's a really, really magnetic quality in a game like this period,
but also just like when you are out in, you know, the jungle and you like are, you know,
trying to survive literally.
We see this pay dividends like immediately in how she points out something that they can get
some nutrients from and they're like, you saved us.
Like you're my hero.
Well, I think the pairing specifically of her and Brady is perfect
Because I love it.
Brady is like when he feels good about you,
he feels so good about you.
We saw this with Carter,
who again was doing everything he could
to make Brady not trust him.
Yet Brady trusted him even more because of it.
Like to see him go Gaga over finding fruit
is all Kristen needs.
And it's perfect as well.
well because like,
we also need to remember that
sometimes I've seen swap screw,
she also does have a broken foot.
And you wouldn't necessarily know it
because she's so nonchalant about it,
which I think is part of that crisis management thing
that she's like,
if it's not a problem for me,
it's not a problem for you all.
Don't you worry.
It's that calming energy.
As someone who's like one pin drop away
from a panic,
it could act basically every day.
Like I would hire her to just stand next to me.
You near me.
We're body doubling, okay?
I just need to know that you're nearby
in case I need you.
Exactly.
Like my security binky.
I'm just like,
I need you.
Don't leave me.
Please.
Let's talk about our third group here.
They predicted themselves
to be the Dina Zastor tribe.
They walk away with the first place victory here.
It does help that it wasn't a very physical challenge.
You know,
they tossed some buckets.
They navigated a maze,
you know,
Dainu.
But what did you think,
Jenna,
Jenny,
I should say,
of this.
That's why I was really,
I don't want to you to pick Jen as your winner pick.
I mean, it's fine.
I picked Mike as my winner pick.
See?
They're my glass houses and shards around me.
But what do you make of the,
of how messy things are
over on Dina?
Considering that, yes, it does seem like
Kilby and the withered remains
of Lewis are on the outs.
But Kilby's making an inby here.
I love this tribe
for so many reasons.
What a,
what a rag tag group.
you know, what Eric said was very true and that he was like,
I'm a little worried about this group physically.
We don't have any of the big musley men.
But we don't always need musley men.
And we've just grown, you know, seen this exactly play out here.
But you've got Lewis who's like on the verge of like fading away.
This tribe has a lot of my favorite people on the cast.
So I was very grateful that they didn't have to go to tribal council since it was looking that probably Kilby or Lewis is in trouble in this situation as the two original toka on this tribe.
Despite the quickly budding and blooming romance, bromance between the Wario and Waluigi of the cast and Eric and Kilby.
God, I love it.
Which one's the Mario?
They both want to be Waluigi.
No, no.
Kilby's the Wario and Eric is Waluigi.
That's why it works because when they're walking together, Eric says,
you like, you like Wario, right?
And then he's like, yeah.
And he's like, you know who, you know, who's my, my favorite Mario, Mario character?
He's like, wah, it's a Waluigi.
They're
they're the
like the gruesome
Toosome
It's a wonderful pairing
Is from a copyright perspective
Like is Nintendo okay with this
I know that in 42
I very specifically remember a sequence
Where Jonathan was getting really
frustrated because like Omer and
Lindsay and Maryam were geeking out about
Mario cart
But I can't really remember a lot of other Mario based discussion
We've had Pokemon discussion
So I guess video games is sort of public domain here
Or Nintendo is aware and has been sponsoring behind the scenes
because we've gotten the Switch being the Switch controller being mentioned
and then whatever the original Nintendo controller that Kilby actually said.
So we're actually getting a lot of mention here.
I got to say that has to be one of my favorite things
that will always say consistent no matter what the tribe configuration or twists are
for 26 years of Survivor is the habit of storytelling.
right? It's existed since we first were birthed as a species
of how details get warped and changed. I just love the sequence of, yeah, as you imagine,
could be being like, it's like playing, you know, Nintendo with your brother. And then you have Brady being like,
it's like my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller was unplugged.
Switch 2 to be specific. Sorry, Brady, maybe you're, you know, not necessarily,
you're showing your hand as a non-Nintendo fan. Those bad boys are wireless to begin with.
They aren't technically plugged in at all.
I love it. I love it.
Okay, I want to throw a comparison out there with Eric Kilby as the Michael and Dwight from the office characters, specifically with Sharonda as the gym.
Like looking at the camera being like, can you believe these two?
In front of me?
That's why that whole bromance situation was made to me so much funnier by Sharonda being.
there just being like, I just got to put up with this BS so I can win this game.
Like, get me out of here.
Well, because again, she was one of the people that seemed to be the most visibly frustrated
with Eric as a pure concept.
The first three episodes and now she can't escape him.
Here's the thing.
He's there.
Yeah.
Someone who is just going to pull out all of the traits of Eric that drive Sharonda crazy is
just like, we've just amplified it.
He's twins here.
No, the funny thing about that scene, though, is I actually am not 100% sure if if the, the close up of Sharonda's face is actually from that scene.
Even if it wasn't, it didn't need to be because I believe that if she was right there and just panned camera, that was her face.
That was, they got that face from some point when she was observing an interaction.
even if it wasn't that exact one,
it was relevant,
it was perfect.
It was so,
so good.
I just,
I don't know.
I,
like,
Eric grows on me more
every single episode.
And what a dream,
you know,
to land in Kilby's lap here.
Someone who,
without him having to,
where your cock is found.
That's exactly.
That's where,
like,
he doesn't even have to do much.
He's just,
literally being Kilby and Eric is like,
you are the greatest thing.
Like the vibes are imagine.
For you.
Remember, he's a friend vampire, right?
Like, this is his child of the night.
It's as much as we in the edit sort of low key clown on Eric,
which by the way, speaking about a context stuff,
as much as I loved, just for entertainment's sake,
the clip of Brady yelling at him on the sideline,
I think his I understand was absolutely taken out of context
and pulled from something else because it was so rare.
random and I didn't understand.
Yeah.
I was like,
what's happening here?
But from Eric's entire storyline,
like,
despite him kind of erroneously
claiming at the beginning
of next episode,
of last episode,
aha,
I survived because of all the relationships
I made.
I do,
it does feel really nice
that like,
this guy is an incredibly
open-hearted individual,
I think mostly to his detriment.
But like,
it's clear he,
I do believe him
when he said he was looking
for a person out here.
And it seemed like for the first week,
he wasn't necessarily able to.
You know, you have Rob, even though he didn't believe Rob,
when Rob was like, oh, you're on the chopping block.
I'm sure he didn't necessarily feel like he was in anything.
And so for him to,
for him to bro down with Kilby,
I think is incredibly fun,
especially around the very random things that they're bonding over.
Like it's almost Kyle and Camilla-esque,
where it's, oh, both of our favorite movie is holes.
Yeah, it's, um, yeah, it was, look, it was,
it was a lot of,
them like I feel like after the third scene of them bonding over stuff I was like okay I get it we get it we get
it uh their friends and especially the fact that Eric was like I do I can't even think of playing the game
without you you just met it was nice to see from both perspectives because my initial concern was
was we were seeing so much from Eric about how much he loves Kilby and I was like oh does Kilby feel
the same way so it was nice to see that reaffirmed in Kilby's confessionals that yes maybe not to
the same level that Eric loves
Kilby, but Kilby at least is, is feeling
Eric and is wanting to work with him. But also,
you know, Kilby does see that as his way in.
So I understand.
I mean, all he needs to do is basically be like,
again, look at that skeleton on the boat. Oh, wait,
Halloween didn't come early. That's just Lewis.
And he's fine. Yeah, exactly.
And the scene, the scene of Eric singing
with like Lewis just dying, like feet away,
just like, you know, basically just
one step away from death, probably like in the worst state of his life while Eric's just singing
about French fries and chicken that they wish they had.
Just incredible stuff.
This tribe is comedy.
It's so good.
But I really understand where Kilby is coming from in the situation of being like, I am also
very excited about the situation.
But as someone who understands like the position that he is in coming into the.
this tribe and the dynamic that just because he is someone that is bonding with someone in the
majority number there that does not that does not guarantee that he is the person that is safe if
they go to a vote if anything that could make him even more of a target because there's people
especially if he sees correctly sees erika as a little bit of the crack where it was like he
is in with these people but he's not necessarily high on the pecking order of like
like being really in power, um, that they might say, we don't want to give Eric too much runway.
We don't want to give him a strong number one because we need him to be loyal to us and our
original group more than anything. And sorry, like we, we have to, we have to clip his,
his, uh, you know, his bromance here. So I, I think that that is really how, how he'll be seeing it is
like he's really just trying to temper his own excitement because I fully believe that this is a dream
ally for Kilby like a guy that is you know quirky and fun and is the version of him but louder and
you know like the things that maybe aren't working with everyone but more amplified he is like
a good shield for him but also he's obsessed with him like that's perfect that's so great and you're
someone you're genuinely having fun with.
You want to play with people that you have fun with as well, ideally.
But you have to kind of temper that excitement because you're like, dude,
like, let's, uh, you're putting a little heat on both of us here.
Mm-hmm.
All right.
Well, let's start looping back around to the person who was absolutely devastated as
she got her torch snuffed.
It's like final destination, right?
she was able to avoid the Grim Reaper once,
but it always comes around and it did come around for the one,
the only Jenna door.
So Leanna, let's open the door behind your preseason predictions for Jenna.
How did you think she was going to do before this whole shebang kicked off?
Yeah, so had Jenna making the jury.
Not winner pick,
but definitely feeling better than her ultimate placement.
I said that Jenna would spend most of the game in a really strong position because she and Anna as her number one closest ally or had Anna as her number one closest ally while also maintaining solid relationships with Kristen, giving her a foot in multiple different groups without ever seeming like the person in charge.
However, that all changed mid-jury when Kristen leads the charge to take out Anna.
Jenna is a paste to the Kristen blindsided one of her closest allies and much like a Bridezilla begins ramping.
against the majority.
Jenna loudly tries to rally people against Kristen,
but unfortunately for her,
Kristen has stronger social relationships
and the tribe files for divorce against Jenna.
Oh, Jesus.
She just went for divorce.
I didn't know, okay?
I also said,
Jenna also has this weird storyline mid-prejury
where she was kidnapped by the winning tribe
because Eric wanted to get ahead on wedding planning
and secure a quote for his wedding photos.
So she's not wedding photographer, Leanna.
So that would have been a mistake.
That's true.
The wild thing is that I asked Jenna,
like, okay, if they didn't think you were a wedding photographer,
what did they think you were?
And she's like, nobody told me.
That's so funny.
They just all said, okay, she's any other job in the world
except for the one she's saying.
Yeah, exactly.
No, it's always lawyer.
That's the number one.
lawyer, doctor, I'm sure.
Listen, sometimes people
lie about being a lawyer.
Then they become
press secretary for a few days.
Yeah, exactly.
Just for a few days, though.
That's the key.
Anyway, my present, I mean, my husband,
ally was Anna and Kristen,
and then enemy also Kristen.
Oh, my God.
Can I ask quickly before we go to Mike?
Yes.
Did you, did you guys make these before?
No, because you guys,
we didn't know the tribe split
because we had very little information
I loosely pieced something together
based on like the promo stuff I was
seeing on like shots
from the first challenge
but that's because I'm a sick son of a bitch
press press advantage
press advantage
we should be grading Mike
on a curve here a little bit
before when I was doing preseason
stuff I was still being graded on a curve
it's not a curve anymore just a straight line
all right I'll just keep it in mind
I'm just saying
I'm permanently tilted to the right because I'm just always on a curve.
It's got a little bend in it.
That being said, I am not necessarily curving in expectations here because Leanna, I feel like with the exception of Anna, you and I have been pretty much in lockstep this entire time because I also had Jenna making the jury.
There we go.
I wrote, considering how much she manifested being on this beach, Jenna started her survivor experience is poetry.
Her hustling energy makes her a social butterfly early on and her job awareness of the literal bigger picture or
her the title of Puzzle Queen.
After her first tribal council, however,
she finds it harder to smile.
Jenna's empathy gets the better of her,
as she feels that crushing people's dreams
are, much like any picture of me in the 90s,
giving her devil eyes.
This emotional reaction turns up the exposure on Jenna,
as Jelly begins growing concerned
that her head may not actually be in the game.
At the final 11,
the fan favorite power broker twist makes a return,
parentheses never you mind that the 51 cast
and if we hadn't seen this twist
actually happened yet. While Jenna
is confident she's framed up a snapshot
of a blind side against Linnea,
she had no idea the camera was actually
front facing the entire time.
It turns out that it truly is
drop the five, keep the one,
as yet again, Jay is for Jenna
as well as jury.
Her ally was Tenon
and her enemy was Jelly.
That's tough. That's tough.
I'm gonna
reveal my bias
here. I wanted so bad to give this to Leanna. I really, really want to give this to Leanna.
But Mike said too many things that at least, neither of you were that close, but Mike had too many
things that were close. Like, Jelly was kind of the problem here. Yeah. For, not more so Devin,
but, you know, I think I got to go with Mike on this. And,
And it kills me, Leona, because I really am trying to help your score here.
It's, we started strong and it's been a rough couple of weeks.
But I think that this was a tough one because I think that it's not crazy for either of you to think that Jenna is going to go to the jury.
I mean, it was my winner pick.
I'd be in a worst spot if I was competing here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it's okay.
We're going to pull it up in the latter half here, Leanna, but I am going to give.
I care about being true to the story.
I have to give the point in that.
Yeah.
No, that's fair.
The moment where Mike said something along the lines of like, oh,
Jenna's head wasn't in the game.
Like that was kind of her downfall in the first episode.
Right.
Like she was thinking about, you know, her divorce and what that means.
Much like you were in her prediction.
Exactly.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, two divorces in a year.
Woof.
Anyway, so, so, so, yeah.
So that's, I completely understand where you're coming from.
Yeah.
Before we move on here, while Jelly is being mentioned,
I'd be remiss, Jenny, not to get your thoughts on
Jolori.
Is that, is that whatever?
I think it's on social media.
It's Oragel.
Not Ory gel.
Love that.
How numb are you to this relationship?
Do you think there's anything here?
I mean, Ory has not said really anything.
He's talked about the concept of romance.
Yeah, not so specific to Jelly.
It's been more so like,
in a place where
I am looking for a partner
and that wasn't what I was thinking about here
but maybe it should be
so that he without even really kind of
addressing jelly I think that
depending unless that confessional was
from a totally different time
under a different context
if he is talking about that
and then that does point to it being
about jelly
there you know there was a
there was some mutual flirtation going on
there. I think the problem is that like this was so awkward to me because like the starting of the
flirtation was like in front of the, you know, not a very big tribe, five people. But like everyone is
there when they're doing the like pretending they're in the coffee shop. And I'm just like,
what are we doing? I don't just try to like improv. Oh. Yeah. This was not supposed to be the improv tribe.
And here we are. We're just doing this like, uh, you know, cosplay.
of being in the in the cafe and meeting naturally.
I agree that Devin is a terrible wingman
and is making the whole situation way more awkward,
but I did think it was like kind of crazy
that they were also just doing that in front of like Alexis
and Jenna as well.
And that didn't necessarily seem prompted by Devin.
I don't know.
I really don't understand what was going on there.
But if you're Jenna or Alexis,
you also have to be sitting there being like,
oh, this isn't great for my chances if we go to tribal council
because these two have a connection
and now the cross-tribal potential connection,
not knowing about the helicopter alliance,
you're looking at the fact that Jelly and Ori are kind of viving
or at least have like a fun little banter going on
and you're like, not fun, not good for me.
But I love romance, I love love.
So, you know, go on.
That's fun.
Maybe this is my autism speaking.
But like,
I don't see it from Ori at all.
Like,
I don't think he's interested in her
in that way.
He's got to see how lasagna is first.
Yeah, but nothing specific about her.
I love that,
I love that Jellie mentioned lasagna again.
And I'm like, there's a very real chance
this man did not remember this conversation.
Exactly.
And like, even those moments in the confessionals,
when he is talking about relationships,
it feels so producer prompted,
not like the thing he wanted to say.
It was a question.
He was asked.
And like, yeah, I don't know.
Maybe, again, who knows?
I would be happy to be wrong.
But in reading the situation,
I feel like this is similar to Devin being beefing with Jenna.
This is like a one-sided relationship at this point in time.

I also found it weird that we had a confessional of jelly
saying that that Devin's like a doting parent
or like trying it too hard when A,
he was not around whatsoever for the meat cute between the two of them
and B, there was this whole thing right where Devin finds that like heart seashell
and he's like, you gotta give it to Ori and she's like, oh God, well, you're cringe.
she does give it to Ori
if you check the end.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
Because then it was like,
oh, I'm giving this to you
because you're my number one.
And she's like, really?
But then all of a sudden later in the episode,
it does end up in Ori's hand.
I'm like, what are we doing?
And also, it's worth noting that if,
if Devin is truly, you know,
doing his game within the game, as he says,
of playing matchmaker,
why are we never seeing Devin interact with Ori
to be like, so how do you feel about her?
Like, it's all,
it's all prompted through jelly,
which is like,
if that's like how it's happening,
if she's the initiator in all of these like little scenarios,
like that is bad and it's not going to look at,
you know,
as a mutual.
So I completely understand it might not be a mutual thing.
Or maybe Ori's just like really game focused and it's just like,
I got to slow my role because I got to keep my eyes on the game.
I don't know.
But I'm interested to see where it goes.
house. One way or another, it's a good story. All right. Well, let's see where this next game
ends up going. So there was one particular scene in the midst of Kristen, again, trying to
overcome the crisis of possibly getting swapped screwed, where amidst the many Jonathan Lipnicki
in Jerry McGuire-esque fact toys that she has, she's like, oh, Toka, did you know that
Toka Toka means little family in Fijian? It reminded me of a game that.
actually got sent to Leon and I
a while back, maybe even before
the season. And this is
from Mia.
And she wrote, yeah, this is the
day after the season premiered.
She wrote, hi, Leona and Mike, long time listener,
first time caller. In the early
new era, it was weirdly common
that the tribe and player names meant
something in Finnish.
Surprisingly, they have decided to come back
to this with the beginning of the open era,
and it made me think that there could be a game
here for you.
and so Mia created this game
where I'm going to provide you
the name of a tribe or even a person
and I'm going to give you a multiple choice
of four different definitions
that that word can mean in finish
so we're not going Fijian
we're going full finish
and we're going to see how you finish by the end of this
Wow okay all right
is this will be interesting
Is this off the beaten path?
Absolutely.
Was there anything to create a game around in this episode?
Absolutely not.
So here's where we are.
You know, and Survivor, everybody's talking about,
hey, remember when they used to do it in different areas,
different countries, different regions.
We're just taking a little trip up north.
We're going to Finland, baby.
Survivor Finland.
I'm going up north from where?
Where are we right now?
Fiji?
Oh, okay.
A little west from there.
All right.
We're going to start with.
you, Jenny. So again, I'm going to read a name and we're going to give you four options
of definitions. You have to guess which one is the correct definition of the word in Finnish.
Are they all names? Sorry, did you say that? Their names are either tribes or people.
Okay. Got you. So we mentioned this tribe before actually from their Mario Kart chatter.
Taku. Taku is the orange tribe from Survivor 42, but what does it mean in Finnish? Does it mean
Pinky
Brain
Chip or Dale
Oh my God
Jenny we should have switched
our duolingo languages
before that
I know
gosh
Do the two of you
do dualingo together
Yeah
Yeah
What language?
We have a streak
We have a streak
We do a streak
I'm doing French
I'm doing Spanish
I'm doing Spanish
Oh I thought you'd do it together
Like account of
Like accountability buddies
No
No but we are
Well we are kind of
Accountability buddies
in that we have
We have a French
streak.
So, and I can see if Leanna has done for Duolingo that day.
So it is kind of.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Don't know, don't know my finish.
And now I'm like sitting here thinking like, oh, God, has Omar ever said this on anything?
Has he talked about what?
Because he, like, he probably knew.
Just listen to, think of Eric's voice.
And he's like, I just talk and finish.
Okay.
So we've got Pinky Brain Chip Dale.
I am leaning into the pinky and the brain of it all.
I am going to go talk and finish.
I'm, I don't know, I'm going to go pinky.
We've been thinking about fingers and thumbs,
and that's just where I'm going to go with it.
Unfortunately, you can chop off that answer.
Pinky is incorrect.
Leon, just for fun, I'll give you a guess as well.
So you have brain, Chip, and Dale.
Let's go with brain
Unfortunately
No
No much
We're involved in this definition
It is Dale from Chippendale
Apparently is what Taku is in Finnish
So do they have like a Finnish version of Chippendale
And it's something in Taku
Yeah it's actually two lewdfisk
That solved crime together
And little hats in Hawaiian shirts
Oh my gosh
This game is going to be a mess
Just so you know
Like, if it's the score of one to zero, that should be a miracle.
That is thematic to the coffee reward that they received, of which I still don't understand why they offer this on Survivor when everyone knows what comes next.
I, I don't care.
Okay.
Let me, let me say my piece on the coffee reward.
Please.
I understand all of the logic of why it's not a great reward.
But God damn, would I be so amped?
Like I truly
Because one
For two reasons
One I just want to get that feeling
That adrenaline
That like the rush
And then also
Maybe you haven't pooped in a couple of days
And Kelly
She said she didn't until the switch
Yeah she didn't get any of the coffee
So she's probably still struggling
Hopefully she didn't say that
With any ear shot of ORE
I don't know how you would have reacted to that
Like I know for the long run
It's not a great
it's not super nutritious or it might spike your blood sugar.
But listen, if it could get some things moving and give me a really happy,
exciting day where we're all just like bonding over coffee,
I'm sorry.
There's nothing better than when you're with a bunch of people and you go and you have
that first coffee today and you're like, you're just having a good bonding moment,
maybe talking about the night before or maybe just like you're all just having that.
that caffeine rush together.
I think that that's a very, like, lovely bonding experience.
So I think I'd be happy to get coffee.
I'd be going ham for the coffee, even though I know that it would be very bad later.
The social element of it, right?
Like, that's kind of what you're drawn to.
That's why people go for coffee as like a date or a meeting.
Oh, well, actually, now I'm big writing this.
Did they hear the fake improv date between Ori and Jelly at the coffee shop?
That's great idea.
The coffee reward.
Dirty Chai.
Yes.
The other thing about this particular episode with the coffee reward is one of those
little moments is Jenna goes, Biscuit.
And I don't know why, but that moment, I was just like, I feel you.
Well, because that's something at least is like food.
That's the food item.
The one you get a food with it.
I will say the picture of iced coffee that went to the second place looked pretty gross.
It looked really watered down to me.
I hope that they had like a fresh brew.
for them back at camp because it just looked like the worst like watered down ice coffee you could
ever get.
But I'd probably still take it though.
A little too creamy for my taste.
Creamy and watery looking.
I wanted to look darker.
Yeah, when your ice melts in your ice coffee,
you get that little like weird separation-ything happening.
Yeah, it was that.
So not for me.
But again, on Survivor, what are you going to do?
It's Applebee's.
All right.
Well, Leanna, let's get into our next.
Let's remember the finish people.
Let's get back to much like these people unfortunately
did not have the best finish after they had that coffee.
But Haleana, hopefully it'll be a little less poopy for you.
All right.
So your word is not someone who was on at Taku,
but someone who was from the same season.
Tori.
Tori means a certain thing in Finnish.
Is it workshop, marketplace,
library, or playground?
I was, you know, Jenny, I was like,
Okay, origin of language.
Let's like think about root words.
Yeah.
The only, I, I, I,
okay, um, a Tory.
Uh, the only thing I can think of is like, from the UK.
A Tory, isn't that like a, like a revolutionary war thing?
Well, it's a, I believe it's a political party.
Or is it a political party?
Okay, let's go with that.
What were my options again?
Um, playground.
It's a workshop marketplace library playground.
Or you could go with a writing candidate,
which would be demonstrably incorrect.
No, I need to go for write-in.
Politics.
Okay, well, I will go with the one that is most similar.
I will go with library.
It's scholarly.
That is incorrect.
Jenny, I'll give you a chance to guess here.
Workshop, Marketplace, Playground.
Have you considered a write-in option, Jenny?
I am.
I think that Mike is playing us and that none of these are actually.
This is all made up.
playground.
Yeah, sorry all.
I got you.
Finland's not even a real country.
I was really hoping that I was going to be able to make some parallels based on other languages that I know enough of root words from.
But no, this is such a like a blind spot for me.
The one word that did stick out to me that I would have guessed was marketplace.
that is correct
yeah
Facebook Tori
Facebook Tori and Jenny
you are in the marketplace for the win right now
because you are
I get something for that
I'll give you something why not
this is hard enough as it is
Is it like the steel
Is that how we're doing it?
Yeah we're going to see you
Okay okay
All right next up
Another season 42
Casper season 42 is the most
Finland adjacent
season of Survivor of all time.
So Jenny, we're going back to you.
Hi.
Does hi...
Spelled the way Hi's name is.
Yes, H-A-I.
Okay.
Does it translate to shark,
spider, jellyfish, or snake?
Hmm.
I have no idea.
So I'm just going to go with shark.
You're two for two.
That was the one I knew because at IKEA,
they have high H. A.J.
A shark. It's a stuffed shark.
And they have it at IKEA.
And I was like,
it's going to be true because H.A.I.
A. J.A. Damn it. Okay.
There is a little bit of an access point for you right now.
Okay.
That was my one.
This next one is furniture.
Yeah.
Isn't it any other furniture based lessons?
Isn't IKEA Swedish?
Yes. But H.A.J. I was like, okay, that's close.
And like, that would have been my guess.
Obviously, I didn't know it for sure.
But I was like, okay, at least that's like somewhat similar.
or impling from another language.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Hopefully you ask me
about a chair next.
Yeah.
We'll see.
Unfortunately.
Billy bookcase next.
Yeah.
Well, you won't be able to sit on that answer for this particular question.
No.
As we're going to finally away from season 42, but one season further, Vessie, if you remember, the Red Tribe from season 43.
Okay.
Earth.
Of course.
Wind.
Fire.
Water.
Okay.
Come on, Avatar.
All right.
Let's go.
Okay.
So I'm going to go Vessi.
the only thing that popped in my head was like Virgo
and I feel like Virgoes are of the earth
and so I'm going to go with Earth
okay a very interesting line of
a logic to ultimately an incorrect answer
but I appreciate the thinking
Jenny you want to give a thought
I'm ready to steal I had an I had an inkling
for my
for my own reasons and I was just waiting to see if Leon I went for it
I am going to go with wind
unfortunately
swinging a miss
because I was thinking of
because wind in
French I think is vent
like V-E-N-T
and so the V-E
part that was like literally
the only thing that led me there
well you got a second letter
I made it to V and then stopped my association
I was like a violin
yes
maybe if we get a couple more
there are more people playing
just keep knocking it down
make it one letter further.
Well, the correct answer is a thing that could be full of plenty of highs, depending on how far
out you swim.
It is water.
Water.
Okay.
Yep.
Vessy.
All right.
Next up, we're finally going to season 51.
Jenny, let's go to Savoo first.
DeSavu, mean, charcoal, soot, smoke.
or ash
in finish
can you go through those
often again
sorry Mike I have a really bad
charcoal
soot
smoke
ash I am
gonna go with charcoal
that is
incorrect Leanna
can you start something up
much like a fire here
what's actually
that was that's what I thought
that was my gut that was gonna be
my gut answer so I love that we're wrong
together.
I know.
If we can do it together.
Okay, I don't think it's soot
because that's a stupid word.
So what are my two other options?
Okay.
Wait, so now you're insulting the English
word soot.
Soot?
I always think of
solid fingers when I think of the word
soot.
I don't like soot and poo.
Well, it is either
it is either smoke or
ash then from your
perspective.
Smoke or ash.
I'm going to go.
with
for salvo
smoke
let's go with that
I am so obsessed with how you delivered it
because it is a correct answer
wow
okay I knew it wasn't so it obviously
Samu smoke
we're just going with the letters at this point
like that's all I've got
all right
let's stay on you Leanna
and let's stay with season 51 here.
Toka.
And she admits this is colloquially speaking.
Family.
Doesn't it mean like, I thought, oh no, that's in Fijian.
We're talking about Fingian.
Okay, never mind.
Yes.
No, Kristen also studied Finnish as well.
In case she needed to relate to someone finish.
You never feel that prepared.
It's interesting because technically the answer in finish is of a finishing placement.
Does Toku, Toka mean first, second, third, or fourth?
Oh, my God.
Well, I have to stick with the strategy because it worked one time.
Oh, God.
Third.
So they're basically the same word.
There's not even a similar vowel sound.
Let her do it, Mike.
Okay, listen, hard tea, soft tea.
Yes.
It's not third.
No.
Jenny?
I'm going for the steal with the hard T of two.
Two.
Yeah, this wasn't a hard question with that hard T.
That is correct.
I didn't think of two.
I thought we're going there and then you said
T was second.
It was second.
I didn't think of two.
All right.
Look.
No, I see, I understand.
I understand now.
But I was like,
I thought you.
were with me on that.
But that doesn't see.
Okay, but my strategy was proven successful.
I executed it poorly, but my strategy was right.
Okay.
So I just want to take credit.
No, you, yeah.
Mia has also said that she feels bad for the tribe name Toka, that their name is second.
Luckily, they did win a couple of challenges since then.
They did finish in second place in this challenge, even though, can we talk about this for a second?
Should they have had to do the maze all over again when the ball didn't pop into the trough at the
end.
I meant to go back and listen to the language specifically that Jeff said that defined the win.
But my understanding was it was when the ball exited the maze.
That was successfully completing.
It wasn't dropping it in.
But I mean, they have standards and practices, right?
So my guess is that they probably like checked the rules.
And if you didn't say that, then they probably feel like, okay.
If it was explicit, if it was explicit that that ended,
the ball dropping in the water was what won,
then yeah, obviously they'd have to go back and redo it,
which actually would be pretty gaggy and I would kind of be here for it.
Oh my God.
But if that was not, if the winning, the win condition was specifically that the ball has to exit the maze,
that's different.
Then, yeah.
It was also weird, though, that they drew attention to it.
You know, I feel like if it wasn't that big,
a deal should they have just cut to a, you know, a dream team or dropping the ball. Because you had Jeff go like,
the ball dropped out of the base, but that's fine. You win. Yeah, that's a good point. Like,
you would think that like it's just not even worth it to like show it to the audience. Like,
don't bother. Just fake it and like, and like, because it's going to end up causing more controversy than
it would have otherwise. So yeah, I don't know. That was definitely a choice. Maybe they just didn't even
have the footage or they didn't think about it in the moment. I wonder like, well, it did kind of feel like
there was this weird hesitation in the energy
because it was like,
this is good, right?
Are we screwed?
I don't know.
So maybe they just had the moment of whether
this was okay or not.
And it's better to acknowledge it on the show
so that people aren't being like arguing
online that it shouldn't have counted.
So I don't know.
But yeah,
there was nothing that said that it needed to fall that way.
But I think that maybe just they weren't anticipating
that that might happen.
They just assumed that it would always fall into the water.
And then...
Wasn't it really windy that day too or something?
Do I vaguely remember that?
Was it that windy?
One of them was windy.
They were near the water.
So I imagine that there was a breeze
that probably was predominantly picked up.
Okay.
I wonder if the wind could help with the water throwing or harm.
Like if it was windy and you're like,
you keep trying to toss the water to the next person.
It keeps like blowing back in your face.
I wish we did that challenge more
I feel like we have it
I was trying to think of the last time that we did it
Of course it's the Colby
Reed Donaldson Memorial Challenge
But it also feels like again
Especially if you're trying to come up with something
That test teamwork
But not in like an incredibly physical way
Especially with three tribes like
Yeah
I love getting to do that
Yeah
Well it's communication and it's physical too
Not physical physical physical physical
But it's still physical coordination physical
And a puzzle
I thought it was interesting
that Lewis didn't sit out
because I assume he was probably still not feeling too well
but maybe he was starting to feel better
or was the thought that
okay this isn't a super physical challenge
let's let Lewis do this one
in case the next one is and he's not feeling better.
That would be my guess.
Yeah.
This one doesn't look too intense.
Your job in the challenge is to stand in one place
and toss water.
Yeah.
But he had to do what I thought was like of the water tossing portion of it.
Like he had to do the most motion because he had to keep he was at the beginning and he had to like fill the bucket.
So he had to keep like leaning over.
I don't know.
I'm someone who gets nausea from a bunch of different things.
And I feel like when you are feeling nauseous and like you might throw up, the constant leaning over and like the blood rushing to your head motion, I think that that would make me.
throw up. So I feel like he would have been
maybe better just be in one of the like
tossing situations where you're just
but yeah, I don't know what was going on.
If you throw up in the bucket,
do you think it would count?
I will say, I did think
I looked away for a second
because I tend to tune out during challenges.
So on the first watch,
I wasn't really paying attention to parts of it.
And then at one point I saw them filling
up the yellow one and it
looked like pee. And I was
like why does the water look like pee?
And then I realized that there was,
there must have been like food coloring or something in each of the
tubes because their water filled up to their,
their tribe color. But all I saw was like the yellow one. I was like,
ew, those water looks like pee.
No, it was just because it was the yellow team.
That was the immediate thing when you said vomit into the bucket.
I was like, imagine just popping a little swap.
It counts.
Yeah, you show it up. Fill it up.
I mean, did you have to do that at the end?
like technically it's the only thing you could pour in there water.
Because if I was standing at the end,
then it just like, okay, let me...
If he doesn't have a lot in his system,
it could be water.
Like, I have thrown up water.
Bile, it's like water.
It's basic.
Yeah.
It's fine.
One last thing before we move into the end here,
I just want to point out that Mia said that
Ori apparently means stallion.
In finish.
Oh, he is a stallion.
Yeah, that man is a stallion.
I would agree with that.
Yeah, I think it makes the, the most sense.
He feels like the biggest thoroughbred of the cast so far.
Mm-hmm.
All right.
Well, Jenny, we're going to put your horse in the proverbial race here.
Wait, did anyone win?
You won.
Oh, absolutely.
Oh, I honestly, I was not keeping track.
I couldn't even remember how many points I got.
I didn't even come in second.
I came in to third, okay?
Listen, neither one of you got blanked, which is great because this was an incredibly hard game.
But Jenny, you've got, I think, three questions, correct astoundingly.
So listen, maybe you don't need to add finish to your duolingo anymore.
You're more native to Finland than you even know.
Yeah, yeah.
I guess so.
All right.
Well, of course, to finish things off, as we always do on the B&B, we give our guest the opportunity to highlight a charity or cause that is important to them to not only the Finnish listeners out there, but to the world at all.
large. Jenny, anything you want to highlight this week? Yeah. So I'm going to I'm going to shout
out an organization that's local to me, but there are very, very likely, hopefully,
versions of this local to everyone and people can consider tossing some support that way. So for me,
I am going to shout out the Sexual Assault Support Center of Waterloo region. That's local to my
my region, they have, it's S-A-S-C-W-R-R-Og, obviously help support victims, survivors of sexual violence.
And I think that that's something that resonates now more than ever, but always for me.
And I think that, you know, the organizations like this rely a lot on funding to help support victims and survivors when other structures are failing to do.
So I wanted to give them a shout out.
And I hope that most areas have their own version of this
that you can consider supporting as well.
Incredibly well said.
As are many of the things you said over the course of this podcast, Jenny,
so much fun having you on, as always,
to offer your insights into the first month of Survivor 51.
Weird to think about that, you know,
we're only a couple months away right now
from this whole thing concluding.
But that being said,
I'm incredibly excited to see where things go.
And I'm so happy that you got the chance to come on and offer your valuable insights into
everything we've seen so far and hopefully where we could go from here.
Yeah.
Well, last few weeks, I've literally been Lewis, you know, dying in the boat.
I've been so sick.
So I'm glad that I finally got healthy and was able to hop on and talk to you guys because
this is really fun.
I love the B&B.
So thank you for having me back.
We love you.
Anything you want to plug for the listeners out there?
I occasionally pop on to social media
to live tweet during the episodes
because I'm having such a fun time watching
so you can follow me on social media at Jenny Autumn
and if anything else comes up, I'll let you know.
Your EIEIIO joke by the way
about the farmer.
Thanks for teeing that up for me.
It's so stupid.
So stupid, but I was like
this is the right audience for how stupid this is.
100%.
That's what we love about the B&B.
And speaking of which,
if you have game ideas as Mia
did. Again, it can be as abstract or obtuse as you want it to be. We are accepting of any and all
offers. Like, we're swapped, screwing. We're just basically waiting for anyone to come to us and make us
an offer. So feel free to email us, RHAP, B&B at gmail.com or you could post an idea on social
media. Use the hashtag RHAPBNB. You can check out, of course, the pal. Check out my interview
with Jenna, actually. Had a really, really nice chat with Jenna, who seemed to have some coffee
in her system in the morning. She was shot out of a canon. But she also offered.
an incredibly beautiful insight in particular to, you know,
the headspace that she was in before her blind side,
speaking about how Survivor helped her reconcile with her own divorce
and, you know, how it gave her a larger appreciation for not only the game she had played,
but the world around her.
Again, incredibly well said on her part.
I don't want to put words in her mouth.
Check all of that out.
Check out our amazing race coverage as well, Big Brother.
We have, I think, the Drew set down ended up kicking off as well.
in epic fashion.
If you missed it,
there was the whole
ramble game
that happened the day after
the live know-it-all's show
with a bunch of Survivor
and Big Brother alums.
It's been a week.
It's been a big, big week.
And that will keep on going
next week.
Double tribal council.
So two of these tribes
are going.
And it seems like, you know,
everyone is kind of teed up
an easy next boot
that may not necessarily be the case.
These people can flip on a whim.
So I'm expecting
and some fireworks to go off next week.
And Leon and I will be there to take in
all of the Savu-esque smoke
as we see what the remains
look like. Special shout to everyone behind the scenes at RHAP
for packaging this podcast for your eyes and ears.
I'm well from America for his theme song
that's even more melodious than Eric singing about
chicken and fries.
Leon and I'll be back next week covering episode five
the double tribal council office Survivor 51.
Until next time, everybody. We'll check you out
at your next day.
