Starting point is 00:00:09 Rob, Sustina. Interview, double-exit interview this week after we saw two more Ladies of Survivor 51 get voted out of the game. Today I'll be talking with Alexis and Linnea, who went out in the historic tribal council that came second, but first we'll have Alexis here. It's been a tough year for the Rob draft team. I don't always get to draft, but this is kind of unprecedented that I've lost a member of my draft team back to back to back. We'll remember them as Rob's Angels and they were in succession, Pat, Jenna, and Lanaya, who have now completely eliminated me.
Starting point is 00:00:53 I might as well have gotten grenaded for all of that, but what are you going to do? We had a great conversation with Stephen on the know-it-all's last night, and we will also have a great chat with another smart guy. We're going to talk to Drew Baciel on the recap podcast coming up later on today. be on the lookout for that. But first, let's get into my conversation here with Alexis. By the way, double exit interview could not get the timing to work with Jordan Klish this week. So no Twitch this week, but two exit interviews, which you can see both of them on our YouTube channel. Here is Alexis. Hey, Alexis, what's going on? Rob Sisternino's. So sad to see you ultimately leave the game. How are
Starting point is 00:01:33 you doing? Watch and I feel good. Well, it was incredible that we got to hear more about your in your final hours in the game. But I'd love to know a little bit more from your perspective. Is there anything else? Knowing what you know now, is there anything else that you could have done over these last two episodes? That is quite literally the million dollar question, Rob.
Starting point is 00:02:01 I don't know. I have thought about this many times over to the point where I don't know what it does for me to think about it anymore. But, you know, the one thing that I like that people do in Survivor is bluff and say that they have things when they don't. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:18 In this, in the previous tribal before Jenna went home, I had told her that I had an idol as one of the many things that I just randomly threw at her that day, just because I was so frustrated. And I assumed that she had gone to Devangelion and told them that because she went to Devangelion and basically told them everything I was telling her. So by the time it came down to what we saw last night, I assumed that they knew that I had an idol, which I didn't have. But Deb came to me and said, well, I have an extra vote.
Starting point is 00:02:48 And Jelly came to me and said, well, I have an idol. So even with that, you know, I was outgunned and I don't know how much that would have gotten me. So the big thing that you don't know from your perspective is you don't know about the existence of the Helicopter Alliance. We didn't see in the episode so much about what Orie is telling you from your perspective. is Ori really selling to you, like, hey, this is going to be 2-2, and they're not voting with us, and we're really just like, this is like tribal lines that we're dealing with. I think they just didn't show as much how close me and Ori were,
Starting point is 00:03:36 just by the sheer fact that we had spent every single day together. We were in an alliance on our first tribe, and we were very close. And when we got on the second tribe, to my perspective was, well, now I'm only down to one person. This person is like my everything, right? And I'm clinging to him. And I just kind of assumed he was doing the same. And he was selling it very well to me. So they didn't show a lot of those conversations.
Starting point is 00:04:01 And I give him nothing but credit for his amazing acting. And he was doing what he had to do. And I don't blame him at all. I love the guy. But, you know, there was a period. there was a moment during the Jenna scrambling where I was like, why is he not fighting as hard as I am? Like, I'm out here being a clown, and he's just kind of like, you tell me where to be coach, I'll land the ball or whatever. And I'm like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:04:29 Maybe it's just like he doesn't, that's not his forte and this is my sector. I don't know. But in hindsight, I should have examined that further because he was kind of sitting on his fingers while I was running around. trying to be strategic. And I should have maybe seen that he doesn't care what happens in this vote. We saw Jelly in the episode contemplating whether or not to stick with you and Ori to avoid having to vote another woman out of the game versus sticking with Devon. How close do you feel like Jelly came to voting with you and Ori?
Starting point is 00:05:06 You know, I think Jelly is a very smart woman. And at tribal, Dev, said, first she said the words, I will never vote Jelly out. I would never write her name down. Jelly ain't stupid. Who would get rid of somebody who will never write your name down you've been with from day one versus going with someone who literally yesterday was like, should we get Jelly out? I don't blame her at all. I do think she contemplated the identity, sort of intersectionality of it all, like the women versus the people of color and all of that. But I think ultimately she was trying to win a million dollars and go far in this game.
Starting point is 00:05:46 And maybe if it had benefited her to flip sides and now go feminist, then she would have done that. But it didn't. And she did make the right decision, sadly for me. So we saw in last week's episode, you said to Jenna, hey, give me your shoes. And she said no. Did that change your thinking at all about whether or not Jenna was actually with you when she refused to give you her shoes? 1,000%. That was the entire reason
Starting point is 00:06:13 I asked for her shoes. And I do want to clear that up because some people online think that I was just asking for her shoes like an Angelina, give me your jacket thing. Like she had nice shoes and you wanted them.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Right. I had zero interest in her shoes. I'm sure they were fine. Yeah. Literally didn't care about her shoes. I really was just like using it as a barometer because she told me, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I'm going to vote with you guys. I'm like, I don't know her. I haven't met her. she's at this point told Dev every single thing I've told her today. So I can't really pin her down. I'm going to do this one thing. If she says no, then I'll know where she stands and that's what happened. And for the record, if I was in her position and I was voting with someone, I would be like, take my shoes, take my shirt, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Right. I think that you hack the game of Survivor. I think that that's the ultimate lie. They have to outlaw that, I think, because I think anytime somebody is telling the truth, they'll give you the shoes and every time they're not. They won't. 100%. I mean, this is the new swear on your kids.
Starting point is 00:07:17 It's like, give me your shit. Like, no, I'm morally opposed. I won't do that on ready. Right. Like, well, you're lying. So, no, I think you really found something. So I think that that's going to be interesting to see if we see that moving forward. You know, I'm curious to know, Alexis, from your vantage point now, as a viewer, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:33 we saw your old tribe in this really tense standoff at Tribe Counsel. Did you have any thoughts on the other? tribal council that we saw on the episode last night? Absolutely brutal. Shocking, all the things. I can, when I first heard about it, obviously, was when I saw Linnea, walk into the damn tent that I was in, and I was jaw to the floor screaming. It made no sense.
Starting point is 00:07:58 We had to have a full hour-long breakdown of how on earth this happened. And I was really disappointed in my former Safu tribe members, who were seemingly so strong, but you know what? The numbers were not on their side. And sadly, Kilby and Lewis, they had it. They knew what they were doing and they did it and good for them. You said in the episode, like, hey, we're going to go to rocks tonight. You wanted to be the one to go to rocks. I did. Yes. And let me tell you something. I would have done it. I had no problem doing that because I didn't want to just get through the night on my own. Like, from my perspective, it was either me or Ori in trouble. And I didn't want either one of us to just make.
Starting point is 00:08:40 make it out solo because then I'll be the next one. I wanted both of us to make it out. Alexis, what was your reaction to then seeing everything that went into that first really tense travel council that you were a part of where there's a whole telephone game with what Anna is saying about people and there's even some miscommunications of what Carter is saying about the crabs versus what what's actually going on? And then Rob is trying to get Eric. to play a shot in the dark so he could vote for himself. What was your reaction to seeing how all that actually played out? Okay, the crab thing was silly in a cute little addition,
Starting point is 00:09:21 but did not have any consequence on this game. By the time that crab thing happened, Lanaya, Sharonda, myself, we were all like, okay, we're getting rid of Ava. Rob was on his own journey, no comment. And I will clear the air and stand 10 toes down on the fact that Anna came up to me early on in the game. She said Charond is a threat. We should get rid of her.
Starting point is 00:09:44 And she also said Linnae is a threat. We should get rid of her. And I liked both of those people and those are my friends. So then she went home. Yeah. Okay. Alexis, well, thank you so much for talking about all this. All the best to you outside of the game.
Starting point is 00:10:01 And hope we get to talk again soon. Thanks, Rob. You're great. Thank you. All right, everybody. There you have it. There's Alexis who ultimately does get swathing. hop screwed to go to that tribe of five where really let we know that there was not anything
Starting point is 00:10:17 that she really could have done to be able to get the numbers on her side other than if they totally, I guess the one thing she tried was to run back the fact that she had an idol that she was going to end up using. But I think Ori knew that she didn't and it was kind of a bluff. But a tough spot for Alexis who seemed like in another lifetime could have been a really great player at the game. All right, we are going to take a break when we come back. Linnea tells us about what it was like to live through that all those extra votes with her name and misspelled right after this. I'm so disappointed today to be here with the woman I picked to win Survivor 51. I guess Maggie did too. Here she is. It's Linnea. Linnea, how are you?
Starting point is 00:11:06 I've been better, Rob. I've been better. It's rough. It's been rough since the day I got voted out, and it was rough watching it yesterday. Yeah. Did you know that Maggie had really gotten a sense from you? Maybe your aura was just so powerful that Maggie said, this is a threat. This needs to be dealt with. I didn't know that Maggie felt that way. I know I have a loud voice. I was confident during challenges, and she could could observe that. But aside from a one-minute interaction on marooning day, I had no idea. She disliked me in any capacity. Were you upset with your tribe mates who were not willing to go to rocks for you? Yeah, absolutely. I mean, my number one, Alexis, who I got separated from, would have gone to rocks. I have no doubt. So yeah, it's definitely devastating. They're a little softer than I expected. I still love them. It was brutal.
Starting point is 00:12:06 though that was sad for sure. Yeah. Because from what I understand the rules, like, even if it's just one of them said, hey, I'm not in agreement, it would have forced the rock draw, correct? I believe so. Yeah. And so nobody was willing to go to rocks for you. Would you have been willing to go to rocks for any of them? Yes, I do believe I would have been, especially for Sharonda. That's what I was closest with out of those three. So Sharonda, hands down, would have. The other ones, I'm not sure. I think it would have been, it would have been more dependent on what the group dynamics were. I got a little bit of a sense from you that there was maybe an annoyance towards Kilby coming into and then at the tribal council. Is that, is that a fair assessment? Yes, annoyance isn't totally the right word. Something that was not shown on my season was my relationship with Kilby.
Starting point is 00:13:01 He is who I formed the strongest alliance with on day one at Marooning. We hiked a mountain together for about 20 minutes looking for idols and advantages on the first day. That wasn't shown. We were late to the helicopter dropping the buffs because we were bonding. And so leading up to the tribe swap, we were winking at each other, looking at each other at challenges. Like the alliance was there. And I was thrilled to be on the same tribe as him. So the bond was real.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Lewis was legitimately pooping himself for three days on Dina. I didn't have time to form any sort of relationship with him. I was Sabu Strong. and I had an excellent relation with Kilby. So the betrayal was really shocking, hurtful, and, yeah, just brutal. So Kilby had told you all that he had an extra vote. You were expecting then Kilby was going to pocket that extra vote and then work with you all to vote out, Lewis?
Starting point is 00:13:53 Correct. And he only showed Eric and I that extra vote, which further solidified my trust in him because I knew that he was actually close with Eric and he was actually close with me. So I felt like we were three strong in that. How much was the idea of that Lewis had a blood ring? How much were you all buying that at that point? I know my jaw dropped. My jaw appears to drop for literally everything. I had no idea I did that until
Starting point is 00:14:18 watching this season. We very quickly realized it was not real. Christians, a jewelry expert. And realizing it was not real made me all the more confident going into tribal. I was the one that looked through Lewis's bag and the blood ring was not real. So I felt really confident that Lewis did not have something, and then my relationship with Kilby, especially him showing me an advantage that he got, I felt good to go. I was thinking back about your survivor journey this morning. I bet you've replayed this also, too. But, you know, when Carter mutinied, I think it was you in the confession, said, hey, this is
Starting point is 00:14:52 the worst case scenario. And if Carter doesn't go on the mutiny and then doesn't botch the finding of the extra vote that Maggie ends up getting it, which ends up passing it off and says your name? Yeah. Like, so many things had to go wrong on this. So many random things had to go wrong. My biggest regret on Survivor is not volunteering to go visit the other tribe
Starting point is 00:15:17 and allowing it to be randomly chosen. And of course, it resulted in Carter going. The worst possible person, as I said in my confessional, he was pissed at me. We had just broken up an alliance of three in like 12 hours, all three then were gone. Carter, me you need. Rob left because he was emotionally hurt by the blind side, and Anna was out. So I understand why he left, but worst case scenario for me, for sure.
Starting point is 00:15:39 You were pretty vocal during when Rhode Island Rob was leaving the game. Did you have any regret about his suffering that you were minimizing it? No, not at all. What are you talking about? I couldn't sleep either. I literally. have insomnia, like really and truly, and it was brutal being out there. And he's a grown man. I don't know. He totally made up a foot injury to get out. Whereas Anna could have stayed, it impacted a lot of things. It impacted Carter leaving. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me from your perspective, I'm sure you've replayed the event of last night's tribal council over and over. Is there anything that you could have done differently? What was a girl to do? Really? Two extra votes. It's not one. Two extra votes arrived within an hour before tribal. I didn't even have the opportunity to respond in a strategic manner. There was no time. And so I'm off for the twist in turns of Survivor. I really wish that we did not go from two tribes to three tribes. Let me tell you the difference between two tribes and three tribes. With two larger tribes, it's the social game that leads the chaos. It's who trusts who, who, who's lying to who, who's backstabbing who. Whereas with three,
Starting point is 00:17:02 smaller tribes, it's the advantages, it's the twists that lead the chaos. And even if you're in the majority and you have a strong social game, it's the twist that can screw you. And that's exactly what happened to me. So, of course, I don't like moving from two big tribes, three tribes for me in particular. But I love a four to five juicy giant vote. I love the crazy tribe dynamics of larger tribes. And I think people are really enjoying that. I was at least. Yeah. Can you talk a little bit about the relationship that we watch. to unfold between Kilby and Eric over these last couple of episodes? Look, Survivor did a great job at casting this season.
Starting point is 00:17:42 What a group of absolute characters. Those two in particular. They annoyed a lot of people, but they were also hilarious. I loved them both. As I was just explaining, I really did have a bond with both of them. Their relationship was real. They didn't show Kilby and I's relationship at all. So I was kind of bummed about that.
Starting point is 00:18:00 But, yeah, they're hilarious. That in the tribal council, as it was unfolding, we saw you trying to talk to Kilby and saying, hey, Kilby, you know, I would work with you. We didn't see as much as you trying to go to the other people that were from your tribe. Were you trying to push Sharonda and Eric and Christian to like, hey, come on, just, how about you draw a rock for me? Yeah, I did. They didn't show that either. there was a part that was when Christian was crying, I turned and looked at him and it was sort of like,
Starting point is 00:18:37 please, like, please do this. But when people are just crying at you and you can realize it's not in their heart, like they're not about to do it. So there's only so much you can do. And I didn't want to beg that much on national television, but I did beg a little. I tried. Yeah. Linnea, we've seen six women voted out in the first six episodes of the show. Do you have any I was trying to figure this out of, why has this happened this season? It's not like that there's been a dominant men's alliance
Starting point is 00:19:10 who are targeting the women. Why have, we've never had this before. Look, pre-merge, there's always a little bit of a disproportionate emphasis on muscle, right? Because you want your tribe to win the challenges. But we need to stop assuming that these beefy men are good at everything. They get to walk around
Starting point is 00:19:31 so confident in the first half and it's so frustrating. I'm good at challenges. I'm really good of challenges. So that's rough. And then it's just the chaos can benefit the men, right? We have Dev and Brady running their big mouse so confidently because you need the muscle, but we don't need it. I mean, historically, women more often do go out in the beginning and men, especially the first vote, but we're really seeing it happening with my season. And it is painful. It's not like there's a group of men that are targeting women, but we're going out. It's just so bad. I wish we stuck together. I wish we valued the women's contributions a little bit more this season. Yeah. Well, Linnea, I am still a believer. I think that you got a very unlucky deal here in this season. And I do hope that you get another chance to
Starting point is 00:20:21 play, whether it's back on Survivor or on another reality TV adventure. I'm still buying in. I have no buyer's remorse. Thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah. Okay. Linnea, thank you so much. All the best outside Survivor, okay? You too, Rob. I appreciate you. Take care. Bye. All right, there you have it. There's Linnea.
Starting point is 00:20:43 And very sad to see once again that I will not have predicted the winner of a Survivor season. But one day it's going to happen again. It's going to be so great. And we're all going to be so excited when that happens. But great job there by Linnea. We'll be back with Jordan next week. I had a lot going on this week and could not get the scheduling to work with my schedule and Jordan's schedule. And so we will be bringing you back to Twitch and the Verbal Rebus when we come back with another exit interview next time. Until then, I've got a podcast with Drew Baciel.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I've got a patron Q&A. And, of course, every Wednesday, be sure to join Mike Bloom and Frail Mary for Survivor Game Night to get you ready for each week's episode of of Survivor. Thank you for listening to care for me. Good one. Bye.
