Everybody, what's going on? Rob Sester Nino, back to talk with you on our exit interview number one. for Survivor 51. And today we're going to be talking to the first person voted out of Survivor 51. Get out of here. If you haven't watched the episode yet, that is Aaliyah. And Alia went out in a live tribal council. Very exciting first tribal council of the season.

She'll be here with us to talk about everything. Last night, I had such a fun time. I got together in person with Stephen Fishback. We're both out in L.A. this week. And we did a podcast. If you haven't watched it yet, we recorded it in person. I thought it looks pretty good. Hopefully it sounded pretty good if you haven't checked it out.

So go ahead and check that out today. I am also going to get together in person with Tiffany Nicole Irvin, who I happened to see also at some point last night. which you could see all season long on our YouTube channel as well. Here's my exit interview with Alia. All right, we are here with Alia that we saw voted out of the tribe. So rude. Alia, how are you? I'm great. I mean, you got a thing for me like this happened months ago. Yeah.

I had a lot of time on Ponderosa. to process my feelings. I had months after that to process my feelings. There was a pre-screening. So, I mean, for me, I'm nothing but grateful and just blessed to be able to be a part of this experience, to be a part of the amazing cast.

And my attitude is I got voted off first and what? I mean, y'all can't shame me. Y'all can embarrass me. It happens. I failed. I mean, and it happens to a lot of people. It just so happened to me on a public television show. Yeah. Well, I didn't really see a lot of things that you did wrong.

And sometimes, you know, it's going to land on somebody. I really was trying to figure out at that tribal council. Everybody's getting up. Everybody's talking. Did the vote change at tribal council from your perspective? Or do you feel like that people went into that tribal council ready to vote for you? I think they went and ready to vote for me. I, yeah.

I mean, I think that it was, couldn't have, I feel like if anything, maybe it could have changed more on Jenna, but I think going into that tribal, my name had so much steam that, but I mean, you know, anything can change at tribal, right? So like, you kind of go in, I was so nervous going in. Oh my gosh. I was so nervous. I'm like, I cannot be the first one. I cannot be the first one. And when it went live, you know, that's my last fight opportunity. And well, ultimately it didn't land. And, you know, God didn't want me to stay or I would have picked the right squirrel. So. So Jenna ends up going to work and she goes to Brady to talk about you and what you had said. Do you have any hard feelings about Jenna and the way that she played this?

No. Her name was on the line. Right? What do you? I think who lays over and dies, right? This is free for everyone. We all want to come out here and do well. You know, it was at my expense, which is terrible.

But no, I don't have, no. Okay. So we saw Brady also working very hard to get you out. Once he hears that you had said his name, let me ask you, Aaliyah, if you were going to cook a meal for Brady, what would you make for him? Oh, you know what? I'm going to make Brady a prime rib. I'm going to make him mashed potatoes and gravy. I'm going to give him everything. That sounds pretty good. I don't, you know, I don't do that. Like, for me, I don't need to do vengeance. That's, that's God's work, right?

I'm going to treat you with that respect. Like, I don't pay that. I just don't look like that. So when I watched the show last night that I had seen at the screening that people were upset within the challenge, I've tried to pay a lot of attention to that. It seemed like that you were having difficulty getting the balls out of that bag. But it didn't seem like that that was the ultimate difference in the challenge. Was that a big deal?

I actually really appreciate you saying that because did I do well with the challenge? No. Could I have done. better at the challenge. Absolutely. But when you look at my portion of the, but also, you know, time matters, right? Every second counts. Right. So did I, even though we were up in that leg of the challenge, did I take more time than it needed to be? Yes. Right. So I get it. But ultimately, to me, we struggled on the blocks, the moms. Yeah. But that still doesn't negate the fact that I didn't perform the best of the challenge. Like, yeah. We saw that you had a

really strong alliance, the helicopter alliance in the beginning of the show. And then you end up on the tribe with Dev and Jelly. Did people that were in your new tribe, did they see you talking together as a three? Were people threatened by that you have a three-person alliance? So it's so crazy because we really tried to not talk to each other. I mean, the amount of times that I mean, look at the outward appearance, right? It was like, Dev and Brady came up as tribe was close and no one even blinked an eye about it. Yeah. So we really tried our best to like honestly not

talk to each other a lot at all because to us it was kind of like locked in and not much needed to be said outside of that. Right. However it was you know at tribal people felt like we were close in a certain way. So when you see me playing almost

like oh my God it's me. So a lot of my argument during when I went live was like if there's if you feel like they're so close to me you would have thought that they would have tip me off poor tribal which they did right but i'm like to me i'm like well pat you just threw my name out and this is the first time i'm hearing this right so you're trying to stay we're close yet they kind of like left me for dead if if they knew what i was going right so that's like was my running

argument in some of those conversations um and that's why like i kind of played more into me feeling blindsided at tribal when, I mean, I knew my name was hot on the block. I was nervous. Leah, did you have any thoughts on whether or not Jenna actually was a wedding photographer? No, it's so crazy. I thought she was. And then you see, Dev comes to me and it's like, Leah, she's lying. I'm like, really bad. I'm like, I just don't know. I just don't think she, I didn't think she initially was, but, you know, Dev was very convincing. I'm like, I mean, I guess, but I didn't pick that up initially. Yeah. It was perceptive in that. that, you know, she was hiding something,

but I'll be like, who cares what her job is? Right. I mean, it's a wedding for, I don't know. Yeah. I'm like, to me, that's like the least of my concerns here, right? Like, I don't know. Yeah. How were you feeling when you went in to go play the shot in the dark?

Because watching the show, it's like, I think this is going to hit. I mean, I prayed. I walked into, they don't even know. I was like, I said a Bible verse, just grab that torch. I mean, grab the scroll. and, you know, I was just like, yo, if God wants me to stay, it's going to hit.

But ultimately, my stewardship was at Ponderosa. And honestly, I took that, I coined the phrase, like, building purpose on Ponderosa. And I honestly took that responsibility very seriously, setting the tone for that place

because people don't see that game, right? The Ponderosa, especially the pre-jury Ponderosa game. And enough credit is not given to players for sticking that out. Because that's a fight and takes a lot of, mental toughness and to not go crazy and be depressed and down every single day. So I was like me,

if I'm going to be here, I'm going to make this the best place it can be for everybody after me. And I took that seriously. Yeah, that's incredible that you did that. It really is you got to like find the shift to get out of the poor me. Why did this happen to me? And the idea of just like, how do I do something with this? And that's the route I chose to take. And that's the route I took in my life. I mean, even getting back home, it's so crazy because all the things I was scared to do, like, I would always like start something not finish, right? Facing this public failure, right, being first boot out, which survivor loves to make so embarrassing and so shameful. And it's just not, right? So I just go into my life after and I'm like, I'm going to do everything I want to do

right now. Because if I fail, it actually doesn't matter, right? Because I just failed in front of a bunch of people and it didn't kill me. It didn't hurt me. It doesn't, like, I'm still all those things I said I wasn't pregame and all the, like when I play again, when they do that first boot or leave the situation, right? All those things I was is going to show up in my game. None of that change. That doesn't diminish you as a person or your character, right? And I chose just to take a different approach and I didn't take a wall with me.

Incredible. Yeah. And last thing, tell me just a little bit more about your tribe because you're the one person that we get to talk to about this whole season. And so you get to set the narrative. What was the vibe of your tribe while you were there? I mean, you heard I said it was chaotic. Like, it's crazy because I feel like to me, everyone was playing like coy and oh, we're like, like fake the vibe tribe tribe, but wasn't really.

And then we get back to camp after the challenge. And what wasn't shown was me, it started raining that day. So we immediately started working on the shelter. It was so strange. No one talks. We're just like, we need to start working on the shelter because our shelter looks like crap. And it was just so weird. And then all of a sudden, everyone goes away.

And it's just like conversations. It was so strange. But took us an interesting lunch. Leah, I know you got to run. Great to talk to you. I love hearing about your journey and what you've done with this. I think that that's so cool. So all the best.

Everybody, there you have it. There's Alia. You know, that is a challenge to deal with being the first person out. I love where her head is at. I can certainly, listen, I can relate from Survivor All-Stars. I can relate from the traders. I feel like I did a better job with it in the traders than I did on Survivor All-Stars. It took a long time for me to work through all of that.

So it sounds like that she's really ahead of the game when it comes to what you do with that. You know, listen, in the case of Alia, it was I didn't see. see too much that she ultimately did wrong. It's not like that this is one of these first boots where it's like there was some colossal mistake. I was really surprised when the votes ended up being for her. So I don't know that there's a lot that

she can be, you know, she could be disappointed that ultimately she had this opportunity and it didn't work out. But I don't think there's really anything that she should be beating herself up over in terms of what happened on the actual show. She seemed like she's really taking this all really in stride, which is cool.

So we have a lot more to do. I'm going to talk with Tiffany later on today. We got a two-hour big brother tonight. Boy, the icons are in trouble tonight.
