Get ready for a wild ride as Survivor 51: Survivor Global returns, hosted by Shannon Guss with special guest Karin Gunatilake. This week, Shannon and Karin break down episodes 3 and 4, digging deep into shifting alliances, big tribe shake-ups, and a game-changing mutiny. Right from the start, they dive into how the return to three tribes turns the game on its head, upending the complex networks just beginning to take shape. Fans of chaotic strategy and underdog stories won’t want to miss Karin’s take on Carter’s action-packed journey and Shannon’s spirited defense of the big tribe gameplay. Survivor Global is back covering the major tribe swap that splits up strong connections and makes way for surprising new alliances. The hosts spotlight Episode 3 as one of the most “comprehensive” Survivor episodes in years, packed with come-from-behind challenge wins, secret advantages, a jaw-dropping mutiny, and fast-changing social dynamics. They discuss Carter’s roller coaster ride from losing allies to seizing a swing vote spot in a new tribe, and how players like Lewis and Maggie navigate the chaos with their own blend of strategy and social play. Karin, drawing on his experience from Australian Survivor, brings sharp insight into the contrasting styles and risks of “passive” versus “radically honest” play. They also unpack the hilarious and bizarre “tiny cut” medevac and riff on the show’s best (and weirdest) moments, like the shoe collateral at Tribal Council and Brady’s missing thumb. Highlights this week include: – Karin and Shannon debate the pros, cons, and comic relief of Carter’s journey and mutiny – Why Episode 3 feels like an Australian Survivor pre-merge, with big swings and juicy alliances – The strategy (and risks) behind gifting extra votes—and asking for someone’s shoes – The impact of breaking big tribes into three, and how it shifts power dynamics across the game – Shannon and Karin’s honest takes on medical quits, responsible bitching, and matchmaking on Survivor As shifting tribes and unexpected twists reshape the field, can these new alliances outlast production’s curveballs? Will the bold moves of Carter or Lewis get them to the end, or put bigger targets on their backs? Tune in for all the drama, sharp strategy, and Survivor Global’s trademark wit as Shannon and Karin follow every twist of the game! 0:00 Shannon welcomes Karin, recaps tribe shakeup 4:58 Episode 3 praised as “comprehensive Survivor” 7:36 Mutiny twist unleashes shifting dynamics 12:10 Casting differences: villains and big personalities 15:44 Carter’s chaotic game day analyzed 21:02 Lewis and Carter blindside tribe together 31:10 Survivor Australia vs. US: tribe size impacts 38:52 Brady’s thumb injury, challenge mishaps 41:07 Jenna swap-screwed, vote options discussed 52:07 New tribe dynamics, Kristen’s social strategy 56:07 Ori’s pivotal choice: alliance or power 58:20 Chizzy Points: Karin and Shannon’s picks Never miss a minute of RHAP’s extensive Survivor coverage! Starting point is 00:02:07 21 South Africans 12, ordinary Australians. Hello everyone and welcome to RHAP's coverage of Survivor 51 for Survivor Global. I'm your host, Shannon Guss, here to talk about episodes 3 and 4, a tale of two halves here in US Survivor, because we had a big tribe, now we have really small tribes, we had two tribes, and we have three tribes. We have had a lot of movement happening. and I'm so excited to talk about this with our own Australian Survivor Brain here, where I always love chatting Survivor with. It is a great Karen. Thank you for being here. Very happy to be here. I think it was, I knew, I knew it was too good to be true when, like, I think a week ago, I was like Shannon, I'm so excited. This is the best. I love this. I'm having so much fun.
Starting point is 00:02:55 And then, of course, Jeffrey does this to me episode four. But regardless, I'm still, I have hopes. I'm keen to discuss. Yeah, look, I've got every meme under the sun for the fact that we're back at three tribes. Like, ah. Like, you did the meme of Chirondas face. That was my face. That was literally my face when I thought it was going to be like, I don't know, we're going to be a one world situation. I thought it was going to be a mid, you know, it's not even a mid season, three, four episodes in.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Ooh, we're going to have like a marooning situation and we're going to cross pollinate again. No, okay. no yeah i mean i had my time coming to terms because people were saying there's three tribes because of the next time on and i'm not really watching it that closely and then i think rob said on nodals he saw a red buff and i was like oh really really like it's the open era where you can do and i guess one of the things is a new era you can go back to three tribes yeah five years anyway yeah but i mean before we talk about like we have to talk about episode three which is so great You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:04:01 Because I love it. It was a food through. Like, yeah, it's really going to be a compliment sandwich type of, maybe like an open-faced compliment sandwich of a podcast. Yeah, like a Danish sandwich where it's just, yeah, I don't know what it is. It's like it's like, yeah, or like a chocolate chip cookie, but it has chocolate chips and raisins. And then you eat all the chocolate chips and then you're like, oh my God, I'm left with raisins.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Because raisins are disgusting. Yeah, no. Yeah. Yeah. Do you like raisins? No. No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Why would you ruin a perfectly good chocolate chip cookie for the raisins? Why would you go back to three tribes when in tribal council at a really fun tribal council with 11 people, the biggest, as they've said, pretty much tribal council in US Survivor. They're like, this is really complicated because there are so many relationships. And Jeff was like, I hear you. I hear you. And like a tribal before that, literally someone was like to Ori and Carter were talking about literal crabs. and the vote changed, completely changed, and it was chaos because there were that many people to make a decision.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Yeah, it's fine. Options are fun. Well, let's talk about episode three. Episode three, I put this out on Twitter and I stick by it. I think that episode three is the most comprehensive U.S. survivor episode for me in like recent memory in years. Like probably since maybe like the Sophie boot in Winners at War, which I've been like, I'm a Winners at War Stan, I'm a Tony Stan like that to me. that's like peak. But the reason I say comprehensive is because there were other,
Starting point is 00:05:34 there's other great stuff in the new era. I love many new era seasons. Okay, many of my friends on new era season. Shared, they're on new era season. And I enjoy it, but it always felt like it's working against production. So to have an episode like episode three where the vote is fun,
Starting point is 00:05:50 production is 10 out of 10. No, no, it's every production decision. Even the challenge was fun. Like this come from behind win that like this new Savu, who are like now these. underdogs that they can pull it out like that. Like even I was like, I don't care about the challenges. But when Ori got up that, that ramp, even I was like, okay, like every part, even like the
Starting point is 00:06:09 Rob, which we'll talk about, the Rob literal boot, the Rob Medi quit, which we have a doctor here to discuss. That was funny to me. Like I genuinely thought that this hour of television was so exhilarating into the next, the episode four when they come back from tribal council. So many people have been left out of the votes and the winners are shoring up and the losers are licking their wounds. And I was like, there was so much energy.
Starting point is 00:06:32 And I do think we have lost a lot of that momentum going to three tribes. But before we get to the insults, I do think that episode three, giving them a mutiny decision, giving an extra vote, which doesn't break the game, but they don't have to wager a vote, just giving opportunity for fun players to take or miss was so much fun to me. So I'm glad we can sing those praises before we roll more eyes about. Yeah. Because there was so much to eat. Like I'm like against quitting and I'm against the whole drama of it and I'm against bad gameplay.
Starting point is 00:07:03 But all of that, even dummy decisions made for incredible television. And I'm of the mind that people should be given opportunities like you said to either completely flop or pull it out of the bag and make some magic happen. And which is what happened. And I don't know if I could say this about like new era seasons. I know how these players work so well. Like, I know who's boring. I know who hates each other. I know who's a big dummy and I know who's pretending to be dumb.
Starting point is 00:07:36 I, like, I know the motivations around these players. And I can firmly say, ooh, I think, I think I know what you're going to do. And I'm invested. I'm invested in every single character. Even the ones that aren't speaking, Christian, I care about you. You've spared two words. That's a hot take. I think that that may be more on you.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Like they have, but you know what? And this is what this is what Christian brings. Like, Christian is purple in a way that U.S. Survivor isn't often as purple. We know that, like, people have been voted out of Australian Survivor with no confessions. But, like, this is actually how I feel. Last episode, in the best, most complimentary way, last episode to me of U.S. of Survivor 51, episode three, felt like Australian Survivor to me. And it is a credit to Australian Survivor that we do expect, like, this level of pre-merge quality
Starting point is 00:08:21 when I'm saying that it was like the most comprehensive of U.S. Survivor episode in years. but in so many ways. Like, firstly, Revenge of the Nerds storyline. We get that a lot, like, present company included. In Titans v. Rebels, we got it in the first two votes on separate tribes. Like, we do love a good, we love a good Revenge of the Nerd's storyline. Even the casting is more disparate. We have people like, like, Lewis, like not as much a fan, but like some of these risk takers.
Starting point is 00:08:46 I feel like Brady, Devon are like straight out of this big, brash Australian Survivor Playbook without so much necessarily of the fandom. I think like the edit for maybe better or worse, we've known with Australian Survivor, can tend to like those louder personalities. I think the casting is going down that line. We have the big tribes that can take these big swings, have big warring factions.
Starting point is 00:09:07 And giving like cross-tribal pollination, Australian Survivor does that all the time. So look, episode four, I felt like I was back to US Survivor derogatory. But for episode three, it really did feel, and it was really, really refreshing to me. And they gave them, yeah, a lot of,
Starting point is 00:09:22 a lot of place and space. to make very interesting decisions. Like, we got a mutiny. Yeah. We got a mutiny. It's 2026. It's on mutiny. Like, so much fun.
Starting point is 00:09:32 I don't know. But we got it. We got it. We got it. Yeah. And I think it probably was a decision. Either way. Like, we got so much shifting dynamics.
Starting point is 00:09:43 I just felt like that was really, really fun. And then, yeah, I mean, to talk about production to get to episode four. And then they, they swap. I mean, yeah, so where did you think that this was going? Where would you want them to go after a vote like that from a production point? Because it was so frustrating for me because, again, Revenge of the Nerds happened. And like players like Jenna, Tanan, they got really good footing. They flipped the majority, like popular cool kids alliance completely.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Lewis, like, Lewis, yeah, came out as like a real like swing boat playmaker. Carter sort of going, yeah, I'll play. And they were in such a good position. and then I thought like when Jeff was talking about the whole, oh, you know, you guys started up on the same beach altogether. Maybe we'll do that again. I'm like, okay, cool. Are we one welding?
Starting point is 00:10:34 Are we one welding? Is that what's happening? And I thought it would be a really good play to, you know, get that like helicopter alliance thing going, maybe start off another one and then flip it back on its head by splitting them back again. I thought that's the direction it was going on because we already know that. that cross-pollination created some really good gameplay at this point. Like the Sharonda and Ori thing,
Starting point is 00:10:59 they're working in tandem, but it's also not working in tandem, super fluid play. Jelly and Devon on the other side as well, in the majority, not in the majority, like what's going to happen if they come together? Are they going to make something come of it?
Starting point is 00:11:13 Are like the nerds all going to gang up and be like, hey, let's create a mega nerd alliance and then we'll figure it out when we hit merge. but but no like episode 4 it's 6-6-5 we have a tribe of five a tribe of five what why yeah well back to very much those like individual few points now because you can't you know like we're having we have a tribe of as many people who are left just left out of the vote so we can't really have those big factions which is upsetting because there've been so many good decisions like as we're saying with that cross-pollination with the fact that they just gave them
Starting point is 00:11:48 I don't know, a couple of hours on the same beach. And the way the helicopter alliance has played out, it was so fun to me that that was playing out in the journeys to the other tribe. And I thought that was really good by Devin, who maybe has some perception issues right now and they are self-inflicted. But I thought that what Devin did to really give that trust for ORI,
Starting point is 00:12:08 to really give that trust so much to Charonda, to find that advantage with someone that you've spent probably a matter of minutes with is exhilarating to me. And really fun gameplay. And the fact that they set up, those advantages to need possible help to get them. We see what's going to happen on the other side with like Brady and Maggie to put those people in a position where you know where it is, but are you willing to invest in someone,
Starting point is 00:12:30 trust someone, maybe looks us or give up some social capital to focus on the advantage. Like there's so much fun decision making there. So we see the way that the helicopter alliance and that initial contact between tribes has played out in a really fun way. That's why I kind of feel like you can continue to put in these little things but also just do nothing. these tribes lie, see where it goes. There's been so many shifting dynamics with what was coming off of exile,
Starting point is 00:12:53 on a mutiny. We could have left this for an episode or two. It would have been organic. Organic play is really good. If you let the players just do their thing, even if it's absolutely ridiculous and stupid, like Rob being like, I'm going to vote for myself. Weird.
Starting point is 00:13:10 And it's so refreshing to see that even though it's so dense because New Era Survivor, we know, is riddled with GameBots. Like no Survivor GameBot will ever, ever be like, I'm just going to vote for myself. Like, everyone knows. Rob was straight out of Australian Survivor. I think he was on Australian Survivor. This could be.
Starting point is 00:13:30 That is one? Even like the fact that he was born, like, is Rob Kent? Are they just, is that, are they related? Like, they've coached him from Australian Survivor. I don't think he's from Rhode Island. I think he's from like, Melbourne, Fitzroy. Yeah. No, not Fitzroy.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Probably not Fitzroy. No, not Fitzroy. Yeah. But like, I was, I was half expecting Rob would be like, I'm going to burn his hat next. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And you're right. That fans, fans know you can't vote for yourself.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Yeah. But it's good. And because in the previous episode, I feel like production got more air time than Christian. You're right. That there's a difference in Kathy. And that's why I still think, like, as we have been negative, clearly, so I'm global. I feel like that's where we're just here to rag on production. But I think that there's still a lot of.
Starting point is 00:14:18 potential for this because there are like these great conflicts that are inbuilt. There's these factions that are emerging. There are these interesting cross-tribal alliances or, you know, that people don't know about. Like there's a lot of interesting stuff happening and there are these conflicts. So I do have high hope and I do think the casting has been fun. You know, I think people are like hating on Devon. Like he's this big bad villain, someone like Brady as well. I think that they are a lot of fun as villains. You know, they've got these big personalities. And I think that they're really interesting characters. So I'm very high. hopeful about where it can go.
Starting point is 00:14:50 But the fact that they've gone to three tribes is you always got to, you always got to remember the proverbial coin toss and the real coin toss are coming. We don't know what production will do to piss us off next. I'm sure we'll talk about it in each podcast, but I'm still having fun. Yeah. Yeah, just more fun last week. But still, having a ready to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Like, I think what I'm holding out for is the fact that this cast is brilliant. I think they've casted the season so well. And like you said, like Brady, Devin. not afraid to be villains. I feel like previous seasons, especially new era, there haven't been people that have been so brash from the get-go. Like, Devin is actively telling people that he does not like Jenna, that he has actively gunned for her on every single case.
Starting point is 00:15:33 They killed Jenna. Yeah. We've gone from, do they have villains to, I have literal blood on my hand. My head. And I named poor sweet Jenna, who was like a clearly, like, fan favorite rooting interests. Yeah. You know, I don't like you.
Starting point is 00:15:51 I'm going to name a chicken after you. I'm going to, like, kill you, eat you for dinner, and then I'm going to vote you out. Like, that is diabolical villain behavior, and I love it. It's so good. Like, I love that they, Devin's just been like, I don't care. And this is what, and I love that for him. I'm very happy that he's actively happy to do that because you don't get it. And it's good.
Starting point is 00:16:16 People need to show their villain's side. maybe like oh yeah i like i have expectations on this cast to just pull it out of the bag despite jeffrey and production yeah yeah i i i'm i think that they've done well with that and it still does feel refreshing i just like i hate that we're going to be talking about that episode of episode four vote with things we've been speaking about for years which even then like even in my notes i'm like this reminds me of Carl and Camilla. I'm like, no, no, I can't do this again, but I will, because that is the assignment it had. But before we get there, let's talk about this journey, because I thought there was, again, so many fun decisions. Let's talk about it with Carter. Let's just talk about the
Starting point is 00:17:00 decision-making process. So here is Carter's series of like even passive decisions. Like he gets the clue. He leaves it on top of his back. He leaves his bag right there. He doesn't go for the advantage. He may be purposely or accidentally mutinies. He doesn't tell Brady what he... What he's going to do? He lies to his face. And Brady lies to his face. Most of them go, yep, cool, great story.
Starting point is 00:17:28 I don't think you're telling me the entire truth, but we're going to do it anyway. And then inadvertently gets into this island, Iowa, you know, swing vote situation. Yeah. What a day. Like genuinely, like to just like where Card went through on just this couple of days, like he literally mutinied across.
Starting point is 00:17:49 So he starts off. He's lost Anna. Like there are secret things about how he and Anna are like so close. He's lost Anna. He's received an idol. His other ally has quit. Then he's accidentally mutineed. He's given up the, like again, like that whole journey.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Then he's come into a swing void position with a really interesting decision. Carter's day was so interesting that I was fighting with myself as I was writing my own Chisley notes to be like, but he gave up, like he left his bag right there. Yeah, but then, like, genuinely, I was going back and, I'm talking to myself in my know, like, that's how much I was going back and forth. It's so interesting just for that one player. What, okay, let's start there. What did Carter do in this episode that you liked? Because I feel like there's probably posing cons across the world. I think in a way, I like Carter for, like Tanan says it in episode four where like the game is like the ebbs and flows of the ocean. And Carter was pretty much just riding that wave.
Starting point is 00:18:48 It was like right on the bottom getting absolutely smatted by wave after wave. You know, alliance gone. Major allies gone. Oh, actually no. I've got an idol. And it's the whether passively or active. to just be open to whatever's happening around him, I think is where I'm going to just give him credit.
Starting point is 00:19:09 Like, sure, allies go out of the picture. He could have made a massive fuss and been like, y'all left me out of everything. I hate this. He kind of just went, okay, yep, okay. All right, let me figure out what I'm going to do. I'm open to possibilities. I'm kind of at the bottom. Let's figure this out.
Starting point is 00:19:26 He had a tremendous amount of luck. But, like, also his own tribe picking him to go, on this journey, like the decision making there is really interesting. You know this man's on the bottom. Why would you sort of entrust him to go to the other tribe? You know there's going to, like, you would assume that there is some sort. They actually know, they knew there was an advantage at play. Did they?
Starting point is 00:19:51 No, they didn't. No, not at the point where they choose. But every time there's a journey, obviously. Yeah, there's an advantage. The fear, yeah. Yeah. But even knowing that he's on the bottom of the tribe and sending him, sending him across, like the level of passive Carter is must have played into it.
Starting point is 00:20:08 They would have gone, okay, he's actually, you know, just... Well, I've been talking about this for years, to be fair. And I'm going to double down on it because I know that I'm like, play socially, but there are ways to not be so aggressive and make sure that the one guy who shouldn't be going on the journey isn't going on the journey. Like, we have accepted too much in this non-villain era of US Survivor to be like, who wants to go? Oh, everyone wants to go? Well, let's pick shots in the dark.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Oh, no, it's Carter. like at a point it's a skill era. If the one guy you don't want to go is now on the journey, the other seven of you had more to do here. It doesn't have to be like, sorry Carter, no, although you did just leave him out of the vote.
Starting point is 00:20:46 So he's already on the wrong side. And again, they're coming. They're like, it's not your fault. They're trying to appease him. I understand. You don't want to be so aggressively anti-social. There are ways I'm sure to be like, I nominate Kristen.
Starting point is 00:20:55 All those in favor? She went, she was great in the negotiation. I nominate Charonda. You know what I mean? Like, it doesn't have to be like not you, Carter. But it can kind of be like, Like everyone, and what's Carter going to say? Anyone else but Carter?
Starting point is 00:21:06 Yeah, well, but you don't have to say it like that. That's my point. You don't have to say it like, I nominate everyone but Carter, but you can all kind of be like, should we all do Sharonda? Do we all do Linnea? Should we all, you know what I mean? Like at a point, and this has happened so many times in the new era as well, like, the person on the bottom does not have to have equal state.
Starting point is 00:21:24 The note specifically is like choose someone. You make the rules for how that is chosen. I definitely think someone needs to take the reins to be like, I nominate blank. And I do actually. think that that was a skill error on all of the entire behalf. Yeah. And the thing is, Carter,
Starting point is 00:21:38 like, I think there has to be a factor in Carter not putting up big of a fight after that vote going, all right, I've accepted my position to them being lulled into this false sense of security or false sense of bad gameplay to send him on this. Because who realized at the end of it that they really shouldn't have done that? I think as he left,
Starting point is 00:21:59 I think it was either Lanier or someone goes, hey, we shouldn't have done that. but still Carter, open to possibility, goes, yep, thank you. I will go. And again, open, overly trusting, but it's still open to talk to everyone,
Starting point is 00:22:17 does so, doesn't get it his advantages. But I think I'm here for passively open play by Carter. I suppose passively open is what's different to Evans radically honest. What is it? Yeah. What is it?
Starting point is 00:22:35 Radical honesty? No. Yeah. Something honesty. Whatever. Yeah. Like, I can't give him like full kudos for making, I don't know, lemonade out of nothing.
Starting point is 00:22:48 But I feel like a less, I don't know, a more game body player could have completely bungled that up even more. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. If you were receiving a lot. Like he literally. receives an idol. So that, I mean, and that's good. And I think that even getting into the swing
Starting point is 00:23:07 vote position on his new tribe, a lot of that seems to be coming from Lewis. Like Lewis comes, like Lewis, and I think Lewis is so good in this episode. Like he comes to Carter. He's like, we need to be a pair. And I really enjoyed from both of them how well they both spoke through the very fair pro cons that were then like, we debated, you know, the podcast were debating through the next week about their swing vote position. And they both kind of had either side about like, well, then we'll piss more people off. But we could also. like really create something here and they both had fair points. Carter was more about like maybe not pissing off the majority.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Well, not the majority at that point, but a plurality. And Lewis, I think was like, let's kind of like take this game on. And I think I am Team Lewis on that. Like I think for me, it's a cusp decision, pro cons for sure. But like there's something, you don't want to make enemies, especially Carter who now will have so many enemies in the mutiny, even though they just really understand, but they seem to be like pretty angry about it. But I do also think it's for me, it's about what's more agent.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Like if you do have enemies with your Carter or you don't have a lot going on when you're Lewis because you've come from exile, where can you just kind of like create more? Do you want enemies and no shooters if you're Carter? Do you want, you know, no real friends? Like you are going to have to play this game through the next three weeks. I think like make some real bonds to like take this game on. And that's where I led to it for Lewis and Carter. So even though Carter was on the other side of that, I do like that he and Lewis could both
Starting point is 00:24:29 really verbalize it, have this discussion. And what I think is best here for Carter, who is someone who, again, was strategically bumbling through a lot of this episode, did leave his clue out, did, you know, was kind of making up a lie to Brady in the moment where he was like, oh, I don't know the second part,
Starting point is 00:24:45 but the second part is a mutiny and struggling through all of that with these, like, rookie errors. We have to say, both Lewis and Carter must blindside that group fantastically well. Like, they all got incredibly blindsided. Like a whole new era
Starting point is 00:24:59 tribe of people, five of them, including great players like Pat, as an example, Jelly. I mean, Jelly only just got on the right side, but they were all really blindsided. And they did have some ammo, like Jelly had ammo if they realized it. And they all had a lot of information to protect. And they didn't. You know, Kilby and Tanan give Brady the information of the real name in Pat. Jelly does have an idol. Like if they aren't so cocky that they have the numbers, which is Lewis and Carter, they had
Starting point is 00:25:28 everything there to protect and they didn't. And I think so much of that is on Lewis and Carter. This is the exact debate I was having in my chili notes because that was really great from someone like Carter who looks like he's making massive strategic rookie error. Yeah. Just leaving a note out. So yeah, I think that that was really good. And even Mike, I think specifically says at tribal council, Carter's with us.
Starting point is 00:25:48 So I don't think it should be lost. It's not just like passively being open. He was open to a lot. He did receive a lot from the universe Carter after he lost Anna. But then I think he was. was doing really well in being that swing vote who had to win over this group. And like they did, they won incredibly well at that point. Well, I think it's just the fact that Carter inherently as a person is likable,
Starting point is 00:26:11 is not overly like aggressive and brash like the Devons and the Brady's of the world. He's receptive to things. He's got like the buffoonnery on tap as well. So it's like in combination, it makes for a good middle. player. And I think that's what we got. And I loved it. I loved every minute of it.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I think what I'm also seeing now, especially going into episode four, is that maybe he's actually learning as well. Yeah. So I like the fact that he's got an evolution arc now from whatever he did in episode three to now him maturing and maybe like opening up an alliance with Tanan and thinking about progression in the game. It's nice to see a player that isn't the stereotypical game bot working through, you know, inadequacies in gameplay and actually slowly evolving.
Starting point is 00:27:11 So I think that's why I give Carter a lot of kudos. Even though everyone's just like, no, he's not doing anything. It's all. Farmer Carter, any day. Look, he was like every version of JT in that one episode, you know, the good and the bad. So, but I was giving the credit. I think he mutinied on purpose. I think, I think that was a decision that he made.
Starting point is 00:27:37 You know, when you sort of like don't want to do something and you drag your feet enough, just like, for example, if you want to, don't want to go anywhere, you sort of like have your shower late, you sit around for a bit. You know, you, oh, no, I missed the tram. Right for the text where they're like, they text on you. Yeah, exactly. And that's what happened. He was like, oh, no, I missed the. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:27:58 and then I missed the boat. Yeah. Shacks them back. Yeah. So I think there was a bit of that. And I think that's very Carter-esque. If he was sort of like, nah, let the boat go.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I'm actively muting. And I was like, you know what? That's not your personality card. I don't think that's you. So, yeah, go for a carter. Yeah, I think that, yeah. I think he, there was some agency here. And I think that this was good.
Starting point is 00:28:21 You know, I think almost no one should mutiny, because clearly you make a lot of enemies. But, like, he was in such a bad spot that he was like the 1% who should. And he did. And that was great. Literally the one person that should mutiny. Yeah. In the whole game.
Starting point is 00:28:32 In that all game. You should never be on the journey. How is he here? How did you come to this decision? That's what's so ridiculous. I'm like, Carter, how? How? Like, I wrote in my notes, Carter is like a literal pig in mud.
Starting point is 00:28:45 This is beautiful. I've like, like rolling around in mud. So happy. Very good reference because he mentions pigs in the next episode. Yeah. Yeah. I'd be named Jenna. I don't know how many farm animals.
Starting point is 00:28:57 I don't know if he's going to be naming his fun. animals after his allies or his enemies. But yeah, I think that this, yeah, I think he was good. I think that Lewis was great. Lewis is the one who goes through his bag and then ends up being his partner. Is anyone who's just out? Do you think Carter would care? I kind of be like, I get it, man.
Starting point is 00:29:14 It was my fault. But it's, no, but like the fluidity of that is great. Because you go from Lewis being like, I don't know this guy. I don't give a shit. I'm going to go through his bag. Which is, I don't know. I'm always like very peeved off when people go through other people's bag. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:29:28 I don't like it. But, like, I don't know, Lewis did it, and then he just turns it and goes, actually, I'm going to work with this guy. Whatever. It's good. It's great. Good on Lewis. And I thought Lewis was going to be at such a disadvantage from the fact that he was on exile,
Starting point is 00:29:48 puking his guts out, and then having, like, no insight into tribe dynamic. But then really just going, I'm going to take every opportunity that's going to come at me and right now it's getting sure this guy and I are in the prime spot to make this swing boat and and it worked yeah and I think as well as well as the agency which I think they take and Lewis is really driving that um I think it's about relationships and he does shout out that he's like he really likes to non so I think that that's a really big credit to both of them that they make that work um I think there's a lot of good stuff here I will say yeah my my issue and I think tanon did really good stuff here I think she's not aligned with pat then yes
Starting point is 00:30:28 Pat is a huge threat, you take out Pat. That totally, and I don't think really anyone else wants it. Like, Maggie specifically says, I don't, like, he calls out Pat as a name she doesn't want, and then isn't in the conversation when the rest of them decide Pat. So it was kind of a loss for Maggie there, but I thought this was really good from Tanan. But the one thing I will say against her and Kilby, we'll talk about Kilby, is that they do get that information to Brady who Kilby is misreading, who clearly Sanin was misreading.
Starting point is 00:30:56 And they had it all there. the crazy thing about this losing group is that they did well to earn all the information that they didn't use based on how well Lewis and Carter blindsided. Like, it's a credit to Brady that he isn't really known in the fault line. So they're like, that's Devon's cult. But Kilby thinks that Brady's a key ally for him and they think that Brady should have this information. Like, that is a misread based on Brady's social connections, which is impressive to me.
Starting point is 00:31:23 I've heard that down. Yeah, like there's some social cushioning as well, like some, the fact that they do. like the names like Pat and Devin and Bray. I think all of them, except Mike at a point, they don't want to target them. Like they have that protection. They're getting that information.
Starting point is 00:31:35 They had all the ammo. They had the idol and they just didn't use that. And that's why that's such a credit to Lewis and Carter for me, because that group actually did a lot of good things to get the information that they shouldn't have had. Like they don't have these swing votes. And still people completely on the other side, leading the vote into Nan and Kilby give Brady that information,
Starting point is 00:31:53 which is not good. Which makes it all the more baffling. like, you know, like you said, huge misread by Kilby, because he pretty much says, no, I think Brady thinks I'm his number one. And I went, my guy, like, on what planet? Like, where are you getting this? I'm sure you're having great conversations, but, like, really, you should see that that's a major alliance that's, like, done.
Starting point is 00:32:12 But the level of trust you must have to, of Tenan and Kilby to give Pat's name over. And then Brady, oh, and I love these confessionals where something like that happens. and then you get a confessional of Brady be like, nah to none, you're not running the vote, I am. And you're going, oh, this is, this is going to end badly for you. Yeah, it's, it's the hubris of that group to have all of the information and completely miss a very important cog in the role of their demise in Lewis and Carter. And like the kudos to the minority to, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:32:54 actually forming the real relationship. with Lewis and Carter to make it actually work. Yeah. Which is such interesting tribe dynamics. I love that. Yeah. How much to you was Pat twist screwed, mutiny screwed? They have a five of what should be 10.
Starting point is 00:33:14 It becomes a five of 11. First time ever knew I have survived in this pre-merge, who could have known. And Pat was it was leading the shivvy before. There's a so upsetting to lose Pat, who I thought was great. how much of this can be at her feet versus the game itself? Well, like, I don't know. Like, if Carter wasn't there, would Pat still be targeted? I reckon so, because it's still the thing about not targeting, like,
Starting point is 00:33:44 the head of the snake situations in the jellies and the devins. and Pat being good enough of a player to be worth targeting and definitely not playing. She's not playing with the other side. Like, Kilby tries to get her on side and she completely divulges all the information. So she's not formed any relationship with Tanan, Kilby. Maggie, is it Maggie?
Starting point is 00:34:11 Well, Maggie wanted to protect him. Maggie has actually. Maggie is the one who wasn't in that conversation. Yeah. And definitely not. actually, you know, Jenna and Pat had a bit of a relationship. Yeah, but Jenna had to divert a little bit because they were on opposite sides, which is so fun about the big tribes.
Starting point is 00:34:30 It's like, and this is what I was actually just speaking about with OMA. He was, and he was wanted to ask you as well. I mean, you're used to this from the pre-merge of Australian Survivor, and you have these 12-person tribes, and Oma was saying, and I'd love your take on it. Like, if there are a cost, you want to shore up your group, you know, like, you also want to like keep developing those relationships. but because there are so many people, you just don't have the time in the space to work, you know, to work with the other side as much, and then that suffers as well. So how do you balance that? So this is the thing.
Starting point is 00:34:57 So for example, like in my own season, like the rich, do we vote out rich, do we vote out, AJ, do we vote out alley thing? Like we went around in circles and like, you know, Zara and I dragged our feet and were like, no, no, no, not going to do it, not going to do it, not going to do it. And then you had three other people on one side. And we were like a majority at that point. and we had all of the numbers to actually call the shots, but the infighting got in the way of it, so much so that that big group broke off completely and made another majority alliance.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Like, I think it is a credit and a detriment depending on what relationships you have. So I think Pat, unfortunately, was collateral in that situation where both sides kind of went, I like there's there's no alternative vote in a sense like I think in our vote um we went around in circles and then both sides for example miles and a j and then zara and i and kalan we were from two separate factions but we all came together and went actually no alley is still the go like all we are from two different sides but alley is going to be the best way forward to get rid of whereas
Starting point is 00:36:11 I think in this scenario, both sides were going to go in opposite directions. There was no one central person that they could vote for in the middle. Potentially that is what, like, and Pat was it. Like, if we think about it, who else, other than maybe Carter? Like, Carter is like the prime candidate to just be like, easy vote, get him out. He doesn't know us. He's new. He could have an advantage.
Starting point is 00:36:38 He didn't tell us about the mutiny. Yad-y-yatta. and you could get him out completely. However, he wasn't perceived as a threat because everyone had ulterior motives to go. And like even, like you said, the Devon Jelly Mega Alliance, they were so confident in the fact that they had the Lewis and the Carter vote that they completely ignored the information they had. Whereas I think if they thought about it a bit more and went, hey, why are these people giving us this information? We need to have a plan B. And the plan B could have been Carter.
Starting point is 00:37:14 Yeah, but I think that that again is a credit to Lewis and Carter. Carter is actually still climbing up the choosing rankings as we have the discussion for me because there's such a gulf between these two groups that Lewis and Carter weren't it. Like they managed to seem like they were like actually part of both of these groups, which I think is really impressive. I think that's clearly the way that this dynamic was where there was such a huge divide. I think that Pat suffers for that in a way that to me, is earned. Like the mutiny is unforeseeable, but you never know what else it could be. I mean,
Starting point is 00:37:45 literally Brady does know that Maggie has an extra vote. So even without the mutiny, they do have that extra number. And then, of course, this group have an idol. And maybe they would have been using it more if Carter wasn't there. And they believe, if Carter getting three cheesy, I was like, as we come up as well, I had like a chizzy, like, number set in like from last week. And as we're having this conversation, I'm like, wait a minute, am I? Am I? Am I, am I, my altering this what is happening like so much praise of cardo went it but but like it is it is really important because yeah they they they they thought they were working with card without that they i mean and jellis to me should she said she would have and she definitely should have played the idol on pat just for the
Starting point is 00:38:26 50 50 even if you're just a little bit worried i mean to have pat who's such a key ally to her let alone from a number perspective to come down back down in the numbers all back to a five of 10 where you can try wrestle something and you're a really tight five they might still have the um the extra vote at that point, but just to protect Pat at all from a relationship standpoint, I'd rather have over an idol. So, yeah, I mean, if she had that information, she should definitely do that. They would just blindsided that well, Carter for president. I don't know what's happening. The other new, new Carter president. Yeah, I don't know how this has happened. But yeah, I do think that Pat, that's the earned loss
Starting point is 00:38:59 to me, is that she gives everything to this Devon group. That group loses. That group could have lost in a myriad of ways. It's not good to be such a big. big visible group that even without card, I would just five of ten, you never know what else with having those major fault lines. I mean, that seems to be symptomatic of the dynamics without her. But then at the end of the day, if you are going to give everything to a group and they lose, you have to be. Even though I am devastated about it. And most people did want to protect her. But yeah, if you're going to give that and then you're going to be a big target and be a big threat, like there are parts of that. You surely have to wear. Well, this is the thing. Like, Pat gave all
Starting point is 00:39:38 the information that she acquired. Brady isn't. And this is why, like, I'm sort of, initially I was like, oh, Brady, you big dummy. Yes, you are a five-year-old playing without a controller. But you've got information of the fact that Maggie has an advantage. You've got information coming in about the vote split now. But you're keeping that to your chest. I don't know if it's because you're so confident or I don't know if it's just to keep playing both sides. Yeah. No, I think it's the overconfidence, probably. Another Australian survivor stable. We love it. We love, we love, we love the hubris, we love the overconfidence,
Starting point is 00:40:18 and we love just like swiping that down. And it's good, it's great. Like he's missing a thumb, nail. Maybe, I mean, and even less so, do you want to be on the controller if you don't have the thumb to use it? Yeah, the thumb is quite important. It's like the major controller part. Not only is he without a controller. He's without the thumb to use the controller. So it's really hard for Brady. Now more than ever, quality matters, but so does price.

Brady is a great character. I mean, he choked off his thumb. He's very insecure about his intelligence. He comes up all the time where he's like,
Starting point is 00:42:09 he's so set on not looking stupid. I don't think Brady looks that stupid. I just said he got blindsided. But in saying that, I think there's actually more good stuff here. Again, like, people are protecting him. He's convinced Kilby that he was with him. He's obviously a big brash character.
Starting point is 00:42:25 He reacts emotionally. He's ridiculous in many different ways. But I find it so interesting that he keeps coming back to, so am I just an idiot? In confessional, he's so set on it. There's something very personal about, being left out of the vote here and losing a vote like this. I'm just fascinated from a personality level.
Starting point is 00:42:47 From a human level. It's interesting. Yeah. Like I've warmed up to Brady. I was all up here to like not like Brady from episode one. I just was like, okay, great. Sorry about your receding hairline. Don't like you.
Starting point is 00:43:03 And then he flipped off his thumb and I went, you are ridiculous. And I'm so sorry. went through like all seven stages of grief with your thumb. And yeah, I see it. And then he's back on my good books again. So like this is what I mean. I know these characters so intimately now.
Starting point is 00:43:23 And I'm going through like motion. But I nearly gave him a chizzy. I was just like, what am I doing? Why? Don't do that kind. Yeah. Well, I mean, I honestly also thought about it. Then I'm like, but he lost the vote.
Starting point is 00:43:34 But I liked and he also didn't give the information, didn't use the information. But I like that he got the information. And this is again why it's so important because, as I said, on the last podcast, the average amount of episodes that it takes for everyone to have voted in the new era is 5.1. And we're here in episode four or what was even episode three. And we've seen Brady control the vote and get that confidence and then lose a vote. We are learning so much about him through that rollercoaster,
Starting point is 00:44:00 through all of them making these decisions and going to tribal council and putting down a name that sometimes they want to be their own learning about them. and I think that's so fun and asked of the characterization of what is a really fun and diverse and new and refreshing and dynamic cast. I will say as well, on the other side of that is Kilby, because Kilby's going to win this vote.
Starting point is 00:44:19 But then I thought there was a lot of concerning stuff for Kilby, giving Brady that information. Like the misreads in edit, and I think in actuality are like all over the place. And I think this has been spoken about because it's so heavy-handed. From the negotiation into, he was one who said, yeah, that Lewis must definitely have an advantage.
Starting point is 00:44:38 And we didn't even need to see that. He's going to end up on the same side as Lewis. Like maybe it all come up now that they're in the same swap tribe or they're against each other and competing for who goes next or something. But yeah, then we see that. And then the Brady stuff, like for someone who won the vote, even just to be the target here where they have to come for Kilby, yeah, I was a little bit concerned here for someone who's going to end up winning the vote.
Starting point is 00:45:02 It's so you can see it in the edit. And I really tried to not like hyper-analys the edit and just sort of like view it as I need to. But even his conversation with Devin where he sort of brings out the crocodile tears and goes, I don't know why you like me, man. And I'm like, okay, this sounds really like disingenuous. And I really don't think you're trying to like understand Devin at all or trying to get anything with him. This is just a play. And it's edited in a way to make us think like that.
Starting point is 00:45:27 The same with the Bradyness of it all. Again, edited to show Kielby doesn't really know what's up. And then you see it in episode four where you get, you get like this montage of, you know, Mike trying to curry favor, Kristen trying to curry favor, Kielby doing it. And like, you can see the contrast of, you know, Kristen's reception and him being, her being incredible and being like, oh my God, you're a stud, I love you.
Starting point is 00:45:53 And then Kielby, West Sharonda's just like, no, what is, what is up with this? No. And I think it was probably like some sort of, you know, like theater thing. or um she was making that face with something that i would be doing so i'm aware of like i know that i'm eric and kilby do you know what i mean and like i know how people are reacting to them and i know that that would be sure i would i would 100% be sure on that would be the face i would don't want to do improv with me right now this is i'm like a theater kid i was in theater
Starting point is 00:46:25 growing up okay great then you don't get to make the face at the theater kids okay no i i have to because i don't i like this is my like theater superiority i was like i would not do that I'm cringe, but I, no, Eric, Eric. No, the right answer was yes and. See, even the fact that you did that is why you're going to get kicked out of the club, okay? And it's a fun club. It's a theater club. Oh, I didn't.
Starting point is 00:46:48 So this is like a longstanding thing. I auditioned for like the Melbourne University Law Review twice and I never got to go. And that's why I'm going anti-theater because. Okay, so it's like a revenge thing. Yeah. Okay. So it's not like you actually think it's cringe. No, this is revenge.
Starting point is 00:47:04 like the theater exclusion. This is the chip on my shoulder that I will carry. Yeah. Like classic Australian survivor. Then we're going to have a big vote. We're going to take down the theater nerds by the jocks. Like this is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:17 But so, yeah, so what does that show you about from Kilby in all of this? Like what are you thinking about that? I think from all of that, I think Kilby knows the game, but he's got not a great read on pivotal players that he's working against.
Starting point is 00:47:35 And I think overall, he's just, I just don't think he's got a good handle on what's happening from all of that. I think he's got the chops to do it, but I don't think he's got the actual ability to convert that or his way of going about it is not going to be received well by these players. Like there are some, like there are people that are organically liked
Starting point is 00:47:59 that despite the situation, people understand them, want to work with them, like the carders of the world, you know, not really do, like not doing a whole lot actively, but they are true to who they are, are able to assess a situation and they're organically perceived as who they are compared to Kilby, who knows, or at least who thinks he knows what he's doing, but he's not being received well by any of them. And that decision and that perception has, like, that's the perception that Devin has. That is now the perception that sort of Sharonda is building in her head as well.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Really important because Devin and Sharonda are a helicopter alliance member. So all you need is those two people to link up and go, actually, no, I got the GB's from Kilby a long time ago. So I don't know. Nearly knocked my life up over. I think it was with Kilby for me. It's like he says basically the way you bond with people is by bitching. Now that is true.
Starting point is 00:48:55 That is true. I agree. I agree. But bitching to the wrong people gets you in trouble. Exactly. Exactly. bitching with the level of read we've seen killby have and bitching is like a very dangerous combination we see in his conversation with pat the way we see it is that she says i trust brady
Starting point is 00:49:10 like a hundred percent and he then he bitches about brady so like it may not have happened in that order but if you're gonna bitch you have to be like you know has to be a vault like this is true of life this is this is so like he is right that you can like firstly having a common enemy good having a bit of a bit of a session definitely bonding but like you best be doing that with someone you can really trust. He doesn't with Ternon and that works. Like that's great. But then he doesn't want to be that. And that was like completely wrong. Like that controller
Starting point is 00:49:38 comment is going to be bad. That in therapy for like for years. Yeah. He's going to look at his thumb and go, oh no, this this thumb cannot use a controller and it's going to give flashbacks. That's what's going to happen. Make the controller thing right after he lost the thumb. It was harsh.
Starting point is 00:49:55 But the yeah. It's like like that's what I mean. Like good idea. bad execution and like and this is where you know when they're having that conversation with brady this is where you go like tan on we probably shouldn't be telling brady this like let's keep him in the fold tell him something else make him comfortable we love sprucing up his ego if he understood brady enough you would just butter up that ego fluff it up as much as you can because you understand him as a player but he'll be read that the wrong way and thought that brady thought he was
Starting point is 00:50:30 number one, which I believe you, I don't get. And like, that's what it's... It's interesting. It's complicated for me because we're hearing that Jen and Pat are like, I like you a lot. You just saved me in the first vote. But there are these clear fault lines. But then we're seeing it's not just that because Maggie has people she wants to protect. They all have names on the other side that they want to protect. So there are these relationships, you know, across the other side. It's never, I don't think, as simple as they just are these two warring factions. Maybe sometimes some version of that. But yeah, I think that there probably are these
Starting point is 00:51:06 complexities that Brady is using well. Like they think that Brady is with them. But the amount of information that was given to people on the wrong side that was then used against Killby. Yeah, it makes it feel like he probably shouldn't have been bitching to those people, probably. But you, like in that scenario, when you see the five of Kilby, Jelly, Mike, not Kilby, sorry, Devin, Jelly, Mike, Pat, Brady, you have to look at it and go, regardless of what relationship I have, the most obvious relationship has to be the strongest one. Like, that is the one that those are the people that are going away and having a conversation. These are the people that are actively sharing information.
Starting point is 00:51:50 The conversations you're having in the shadows one-on-one, those are the overt ones that you're trying to protect. That is the big obvious one. So, like, to go and try to bitch to Pat, like, at level 5,000, bad read. To give Brady 100% of the information, bad read. Like, you bitch quietly and go, oh, no, Pat, I saw you holding Brady's thumb. Gosh. And then, all right?
Starting point is 00:52:16 She was rolling her eyes, to be fair. I kind of think I see why he thought the Pat would be game for that. Like, I do actually get it. I get it. But let Pat give you that. This is where you sort of like go in and go, hey, like interesting thing that happened, right? And then you go, yeah, God, Brady's such an idiot. And then you go, oh, okay, not lead with Brady's an idiot.
Starting point is 00:52:37 Yeah, yeah. There needs to be new rules to if you bitch with someone that's good. Like that's way too broad and way too dangerous. Like first thing, read is everything on Survivor and like everything in bitching on Survivor. And bitching in life. Seriously. Bitching in life is like, it is where I get 100%. of all of my information. I love bitching.
Starting point is 00:52:57 I do it regularly. Yeah, it's so fun. I completely agree with you. But yeah, you've got to do with the right person. Yeah. And like the, like, bitching has like led to some of the most beautiful and pivotal moments of my life. And which is why it's so important. It's so important to do it right to be sacred. When it's done badly on life, it's an art. Yeah. It is one of the great art. You don't, you don't use that wrong. Like, you don't, you have to, you don't be sloppy with it. You got to be like, I'm completely
Starting point is 00:53:25 agree with you. Like, it's a dangerous weapon. It's an anthropological, like, thing. Gossiping was not actually, like, a negative thing back in the day. It was actually, like, how we traded information. And to see it done badly is, like, you know, it's, I don't know. Yeah. Like, we have. If you aren't sure on the read, I think that you, like, yeah, you let the bitch first.
Starting point is 00:53:47 Like, then at least, at the very least, you have, like, well, they said that, you know, then you, then you at least have, like, a blood packed where, you, you can also throw them under the bus. You know, then at least now when he said, she said. So. Yeah. You have to have something to hold against it. You'd be like, yeah, Karin said that you weren't askedful and you did this.
Starting point is 00:54:06 And then, then now you've got something to hold against me. Whereas before, if I haven't said anything, plausible deniability. 100%. You got a bitch responsibly. I think that that's what we're saying about this. A couple of things before I actually think we should get to the episode three. These that have been, and then we can talk about episode four and all the decisions there. but another interesting decision was Maggie and Brady
Starting point is 00:54:29 back in the oars, which just kind of think they don't have oars. I'm confused about it, but it doesn't matter. That's our strategic king, okay? No negative words here will be said about Carter. But yeah, what did you think about this? The fact that Maggie's just like, can I have it?
Starting point is 00:54:43 And then Brady's just like, yes. Am I getting Brady chival points? No, I'm not. But like, I didn't expect my podcast to go this way. initially I was when the whole there's an advantage and when they started chopping up the oars I was like that is ridiculous what are you doing it's obviously like not in the middle of the oar and as I said it it was in the middle of the oar and I'm okay no
Starting point is 00:55:04 it was more from a thunk perspective I just thought are you trying to take off the other one like but it's Brady I expected him to go full axe murderer on this how many fingers and thumbs is Brady leading the game with now that's we should we should we should start a finger count, not on actual. Actually, that'd be really rude to, like, put a hand up and then just, like, cross the one by. I think he, I think, I think he's leaving with like all,
Starting point is 00:55:30 with like seven. Seven? No, but, like, he didn't chop off the whole thumb. But, like, if there's a little bit gone, I think it counts. Well, no, he didn't. Okay, like, medical mumbo-jumbo. Like, Zara texted me as the episode was coming up, being like, hey, doctor's opinion.
Starting point is 00:55:45 Like, should he leave the game? He's, like, chopped his thumb off. And I was like, no, he didn't chop his thumb off. He, like, just took the next. nail off. Oh, he just took the nail, yeah. Yeah. No, that's disgusting. He just skim the nail. No, because if you, like,
Starting point is 00:55:58 with the nail, if you just skim the top off and that's still there, it'll grow back. It might grow up a little stumpy, but it will still grow back. So in the grand scheme of thing, it's not a big deal. Does happen to my dad, actually. It happens to me as well. You talked of a thumb? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:15 What? Like, well, no, like, basically I was what was it? I was like Julianing things and then I don't cook. And then like and then I couldn't make it work and then I like
Starting point is 00:56:28 just went and it took off like the top of my like nail and then it grew back so it's fine. I felt like he lost like the whole like tip of his non. No, because it was just the nail bit. I'm pretty sure he went like this because if he lost his like thumb tip and there was like skin and bone on view,
Starting point is 00:56:45 very different scenario. I've reattached like thumbs and like repaired nail beds and that's like kind of gross but if he just lost a nail you just wrap it up and it'll grow back my my dad lost his middle finger when he was a kid playing ding dong ditch and it got and it's like it is shorter than his other fingers yeah so like that's not what happened to brady because if that happened they would actually have to like wash it out and like close it up because that's going to get infected like asking for an infection this if you just skim the nail off you can clean it up give us some couple of
Starting point is 00:57:19 with antibiotics, wrap it up, and then he'll be fine. Okay, well, that makes me sad, because I said to my dad, like, you've been going on about this for 50 years, and Brady just stayed in the game. But you're saying that what happened to my dad is worse, because he, like, he lost it, like, legitimate tip of his finger. Yeah, thumb tip amputation, very different to, like, nail bed injury, which is what I think Brady had.
Starting point is 00:57:38 I don't want either of those. I was upset the other day that a bit of my nail polish came off. It's hard to get his nails that long. We, like, in summer in Melbourne, a lot of this happens because we get, like, Melbourne avocado hand, because a lot, you know, summer avocado season, everyone likes chopping salads and whatnot. And everyone seems to just like smack a knife into the palm of their hand or like, or like, you know, shell a finger off when they're cutting things.
Starting point is 00:58:02 But yeah. So the reason millennials don't have houses and also their fingers is because of avocado toast. Avocado, yeah. Yeah. It's my favorite, like, procedure in summer because it's like really easy to do. And I'm just like, let me finish it. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Well, I'm not here to downplay. happened to Brady. I might remember. Oh, yeah, we were talking about the extra one. Excero. We went there. He was shopping off an additional thumb, but it's not a big deal and it's whatever. And everyone's doing it in Melbourne with the avocados.
Starting point is 00:58:30 And he gets it. And then Maggie's like, can I have it? And he was like, okay. And I was like, okay. Yeah, what did you think of that? I was kind of, in my head, I was like, Brady is just going to do a Brady and be like, no, it's mine. But I don't know if it was like a split decision of vulnerability where Maggie sort of like
Starting point is 00:58:48 swiped and took advantage of it. So I think it's on more on Maggie than it's on Brady for sure because you let Brady do quick math and Brady's quick math went, oh, okay, I'm just going to give it to Maggie. No, there's no way that happened. Brady's quick math actually needs that vote.
Starting point is 00:59:04 That's like the one time. To be fair, and I'm not calling Brady stupid because I know it's, I don't, and I don't think so, but I think that like, for me, what I'm thinking is that was a pleasant interaction, like no point making an enemy for just an extra vote. And I still believe that. But if anyone needs an extra vote, it probably is Brady,
Starting point is 00:59:19 which is like very apparent five of ten personal alliance at the time. Like the quick math is actually that that would have been quite useful. I mean, like the quick math is like, yeah, Maggie is like a not like a threat, aggressive player, good to a person to have in your back pocket, quick math. I'm going to go with it. But I still think it's on Maggie's, you know, to understand the situation and go that go with the fact that Brady's at high adrenaline.
Starting point is 00:59:46 and chopping thumbs off and going, give me that right now to force the quick math. Yeah. Yeah, if you get on me. I don't know. I'm on Maggie. I think that Maggie, like, I think she is 40.
Starting point is 01:00:02 Yeah, there's definitely a bit of that. Like, Brady, there's a secret thing where he's talking about, his mom and everything she does. And I know that Maggie's whole, I think she homeschools her kids and everything. And even in this episode, she was like, I'm not going to let a 25-year-old push me around and I think there is a bit of like give me like you know like what do you have yeah like give it to me now like a bit of teacher energy a bit of like mom energy and a bit of like respect like you're a 25 year old kid chopping off your thumb like give me the advantage now like you came in and bulldozed me and
Starting point is 01:00:33 like a bit of like I will not be bulldozed I thought it was good for Maggie because at that point Brady has like seemingly more of the social power and he just led the vote and he you know he thinks that he has a social power she's about to win the vote But I thought for her to just ask for it. Like you're not making an enemy. You're still getting the vote. Then she's going to win the vote. So she comes out like fully winning that entire interaction where she's not alienating him.
Starting point is 01:00:58 And then she doesn't even need him because she's going to win the vote. And I actually thought for Brady as well not to like keep keeping praise on this nine digit man. But like I thought it was against hype for him not to be like, no. Like it would have been so aggressive to say no. And I think he does like a social thing. And then later I think Maggie is protecting. names that I think did include Brady. So I thought that this was pretty good from both of them,
Starting point is 01:01:21 although the one time you actually probably need the extra vote probably was Brady at the five of ten then. And then ironically, maybe now at the swap as well, he could have used it. But usually an extra vote isn't worth the hassle, I would say. Definitely. And like the thing is, like, the quick math on Brady's part would have also been the fact that like he is overconfident and he would have gone, I don't need it. I don't need the extra vote.
Starting point is 01:01:42 So I'll give it to Maggie and just get the extra player, which. um which works with an extra vote like two after play which is exactly um so it's better to like not make enemies it's better to have another friend and also maybe you know put out the fact that i am not like a bull in a china shop just chopping thumbs like i have more thumbs to give yeah one thumb to give he only has one thumb to give speaking of that and i will before we get to this shazee because we have you here and you are a medical professional. I need your take on Rob leaving the game. Your medical take on what we saw here. I think the doctor said tiny cut was the exact quote. Oh my God. Yeah, everyone gets tiny cuts. Like I had like cuts everywhere. Yeah. Like even not
Starting point is 01:02:35 survivor. Exactly. So like for example, if we're thinking like cuts, Penna in freaking micronesia with literal pus pouring out of his leg. That is a tiny cut that turns into something else. Like, oh, you didn't, they did, do you know what's more imperative? They didn't show us this tiny cut. I don't know that it would be shown. Exactly. I don't know if it was visible to the naked eye.
Starting point is 01:03:00 You needed a microscope. Like, that's like, usually people have cuts. But what did they? There were multiple, like, camera shot of his foot. just of his foot in a shoe yeah just of the foot that was taking me out because it was in a shoe but it was so foreboding it was like yeah but the foot was nothing ah i thought that was so funny it's hilarious because like oh i don't i'm not feeling too well like oh no i don't know what's going to happen but it's just like slow-mo shots of his foot um i thought that this was just
Starting point is 01:03:34 great content like i wasn't mad at this at all i think what gave us a lot in the three episodes that he was on the old twin a bit episodes he was on the show. So much. Yeah. I was saying initially like this is going to be like evil Rob Villanuck. I love it. Give me all of it. Um, and then you had the whatever the hell he did in episode two. And then three of the fake medevac. hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. My medical opinion is it's it did not require a medevac. But this is the thing. You can still argue. Yes. This. This. cut could get infected. I could get a rip-roaring abscess that turns into sepsis,
Starting point is 01:04:15 and then my arm gets chopped off. And, you know, I'm not like Brady just losing, like, one thumb. I'm losing my entire foot. One could argue that it could escalate to that. Wouldn't there be time, though, like, to note that escalation? I mean, I'm not a medical professional, but, like, couldn't you then intervene at that point? Well, there are some, like, really bad infections. For example, like, you can get, like, real bad coral cuts.
Starting point is 01:04:38 really like they progress rapidly into sort of like gangrene skin scalding bad infections. I'm not saying Rob had that. Sounds like you are. It sounds like in your medical opinion that Rob had to go for his kids. Don't blame the kids, Rob. Come on. No, don't blame. Blame something else. Blame.
Starting point is 01:04:58 I don't know what he's going to blame. But I'm just saying hypothetically, there are some really bad infections. Do I think Rob had that? No. But like when you're, it's the same thing as when they call. call you up on a plane and they go, do you think we should land the plane? And like the most like medical legal thing is to be like, well, I don't have the capacity to assess that. But yes, hypothetically this person could die. So yes, probably we should land the plane.
Starting point is 01:05:24 It sounds like you're validating Rob's injured. I'm saying that there's a level. Like as a person, I think it was a wimp out. As a medical legally, I'm saying this. potential chance that he could. Well, medical don't care, but they're letting Brady out there without part of his thumb. I don't think it was a big deal. That's, which is like hilarious because Brady loses the thumb. A small cut. Anyway.
Starting point is 01:05:51 Chris's foot is broken. Oh, no, so small. Okay. I like, bone. Okay. I can comment on bone. I hate foot fractures because they're annoying, but they're like annoying because people complain about it because you can't walk on them. But you can.
Starting point is 01:06:06 There are like so many tiny bones in the. foot and if you get like a tiny fracture in them you can just walk on them i tell people to walk on them all the time you just need a good pair of berkenstocks foot fractures wear burkenstocks because they spread the toes out and distribute the weight evenly christin get a pair of berkins why i don't know that they're selling them like on the beach so this is what could have happened jenna had a pair of burke's what was it oh my god Alexis what's her name yeah alexis yeah they had a a shoe, you know, swap thing, Kristen could have gotten those burks and then she would have had the appropriate orthotics to manage her feet. Well, Dr. Karin is here to tell everyone that
Starting point is 01:06:50 their injuries are nothing to her and that just suck it up basically all of you, except Rob, except Rob with his cut. I mean, well, I will say for Rob, like, I'm not someone who ever comes for quitters. I think it's been like a big part of my commentary in the last few years. Like, I defend the quitters. I get it. You went out there. You were defending him as well. No, no, no, no. I defend quitters.
Starting point is 01:07:13 I defend quitters usually because you get out there, you can't sleep. I'm now painfully aware of how depleting that can be. Like, that's really hard. You thought you could do it. You couldn't. This isn't fun for anyone. It's just unfortunate. Let's all just kind of move on.
Starting point is 01:07:27 That's how I feel about quitters usually. Do you know who's really harsh on quitters? Rob. Rob's in the exit press. Like, I would never quit. I'm like, I don't think you can say that. you just quit. Like I am like,
Starting point is 01:07:41 unfortunate for you. Luckily we have 21 people. We have a cushion. This isn't like a whole episode around this. This is just funny to me. It's fine. Why are you coming for quitters? You just quit.
Starting point is 01:07:51 And then you know who else he came for in his exit press? He was like these fans on their couches. And I was like, me? Again, me on my couch? What? What am I? What does this have to do with me? So I'm not defending Rob.
Starting point is 01:08:11 I'm defending people who can say, Hey, that was a lot. I needed my nicotine. I will defend those people to my dying breath. But I will not defend someone who then comes out. And is then like bitching about quiters? You quit. Okay?
Starting point is 01:08:27 Accept it. That's what happened. His exit press was the most baffling of all. It was, again, so like removed from. from reality, um, that I really enjoyed it. Yeah. It's a fun time beginning to end, but you can't pitch about quitters if you quit. Okay?
Starting point is 01:08:46 That's another rule about bitching. Have some self-awareness. That's the second part. I just, I, like, at one point, I just wanted the medics to be like, no, stop bitching. You're staying. Nah, you're not going. I want, I want that level of, I feel like if I was like the survivor medic, I'm like, I, I, oh my God, sometimes I see like adverts for like, um, ooh,
Starting point is 01:09:08 some TV show in the South Pacific for a time period during July. And I'm like, I know what that's for. I know what that's for. Do it. It feels like someone with trouble of a hand and you'd be like, get over it. I want to see it. Incredibly harsh Dr. Karin on Survivor. I love that.
Starting point is 01:09:28 I remember having this conversation when like PD tore his bicep and she's like, and he went, Doc, what's your opinion? I was like, technically you can operate on it within like the first three weeks. so you can stay, like, just don't like use it. I mean, you can also use it. And he's like, really? I'm like, yeah. Like, she'll be all right.
Starting point is 01:09:45 And he went, huh? I'm like, yeah, I'm like, it was not recommended, but if you wanted to, you could. Yeah. I think that your litmus test for what counts as a terrible injury might be slightly misaligned. Rob's wasn't a great injury, is my overall opinion. medical legally though old mate on the survivor
Starting point is 01:10:09 medical team can't obviously keep him in the game if he's going I my kids like I will like what are my kids going to do? Yeah yeah well okay let's do the chisie for this episode because there's been some recalibration for me and then we'll talk some stuff about episode four take it away

And winning could happen to you too. Winner, Gagnon. Okay. I'll go first. I think I've spoken about it. I'm giving three points to Lewis. No Notes. I liked his decision. I liked him coming in. He also went through Carter's bag and then became
Starting point is 01:12:28 like Carter's bro. And I liked how they talked it through. He's playing. And he really approached Carter. He's like, we need to be together. Now, this is different to my notes, but I'm going to now give two points to Carter. I've convinced myself over the course of this podcast. There was enough bad stuff. It was kind of like a Tony game. Like, he dug a hole, but he also dug his way out. And so much of this relied on them blindsiding the other side.
Starting point is 01:12:49 I feel like he's such a big part of that. I think I've spoken through the pros and cons at length. I'll give him two points. I'm going to give a point to Nard, who was originally getting to. She was essential. She came up with the pat name. She won this. vote and I think that her relationship with Lewis seemed really key.
Starting point is 01:13:08 In saying that, she gave that information of Brady. And I talk myself kind of out of her. Our Honourable mention Baggy for the stuff we spoke about. Yeah, that's what we got to. Well, our jizzies are quite similar. So, yeah, my three is going to Lewis. I think that he did very well to get him out of like the position he was in by going to exile
Starting point is 01:13:32 and coming back, understanding the dynamics, picking aside, picking Carter to form his Iowa Island Alliance, hilarious hammock chat where I'm like, are you flirting? What's happening here? Love that for them. And then my two, I gave that to Tanan because I thought she was going to get purpled the first couple of episodes. She's in a good position.
Starting point is 01:14:00 She made this hilarious comment about Mike and saying that he'd like a sponge, love that. I love a bit of like catty, catiness, which I appreciate, good position. I think that Kilby was more responsible for giving Brady the information and then Tannan. Well, like Tannan followed suit because Tannan doesn't have a relationship with Brady.
Starting point is 01:14:22 Like, Tadon... Yeah, I mean, at the point where that information has been given, you have to change the target. Like, you just gave them in front. You gave them everything. Yeah. So they were both complicit. And then Carter, my boy, is like,
Starting point is 01:14:34 He's there. Oh my God. I had so many, like, opportunities to really push him. I nearly gave him three. And I was like, no, let's not be swayed. You made this decision last week. We're going to keep it at that. I adore Carter.
Starting point is 01:14:47 He's my favorite. And, like, I tweeted about him. And then I think, like, 5,000 other people were like, yes, we agree. And I went, aha, I'm onto something. Yeah. I mean, I should, I did try and do the points before the next episode. Luckily that there was a swap the next episode. So it didn't, like, I should be locked in.
Starting point is 01:15:03 But it was. based on anything, even though I did think that what Tanan and Carter did shoring up in the next episode was good. It's not about what happened next. Like, I think it's pretty clear from the podcast that I've been convincing myself through this time. So I think that it's on the level to still go back and change the points because it was really re-watching the episode. There was just, Carter had just a couple of days worth noting. Like that I'm just, he went through a lot. Some of it you could say no. I'm saying he had the whole JT journey in just like 48 hours. That's a lot. JT's doing it over a year. All I want.
Starting point is 01:15:34 is for him to write a letter to like another, you know, faction. And then this will be complete. That would be the full Carter JT arc. And it would be beautiful. We need it. But, okay, Carter, I'm all in on Carter, apparently. I didn't expect it. My mouth is moving and my brain is only just catching up.
Starting point is 01:15:54 Let's talk about episode four and some of that. And I really, I want to start with Devin because Devin also went on this journey in episode three. But Devin in general, he as well is, am I kind of, talk myself into the Dev and stuff, I don't think I am. He's going to end up, he's going to, in these two episodes, he's going to painfully lose a vote and then go to a good swap. He's going to win a vote.
Starting point is 01:16:13 He's going to do some stuff on the journey that I thought was great, you know, like, I thought his journey confessional was hilarious, where he's like, this is just sad about that camp was really funny. I think he's like a great heel for the season, like in the, you know, pretty wrestling vein. And the journey stuff, like the fact that the helicopter alliance, like the fact that he is prioritising his relationships there, giving Ory that information,
Starting point is 01:16:36 working with Sharondi to even get the extra vote. The main thing he comes out of, other than the extra vote, is confirming the relationship, going to play out. And that's, like, the most important thing. How do you feel about Devin? He's such a big character.
Starting point is 01:16:48 I, like, he's, again, he's one of the more vocal players. Do I think he gets it right or wrong, right more often than he gets it wrong? No, I'm still uncertain. But I think he is still developing the relationships he believes in. I think he's a player after my own heartwear. As soon as he decides he doesn't like someone, he's just like, I don't like you.
Starting point is 01:17:11 I'm going to actively spread misinformation about you. Like he did that to Jenna. Like he completely took a bus and ran over her to the other tribe, which I, which I was like, you know what? Kudos to you. You picked your target for some reason the fact that she's not a photographer, even though she was a photographer, yes. She was a photographer famously. And he's stuck to it. But he does develop the relationships.
Starting point is 01:17:37 He wants to develop. Ori Sharonda, beautiful moment by him, sharing his advantage clue, which brings Sharonda back into the fold. They find the advantage in everything together. It's perfect. Now he's completely solidified his relationship. He understands that he's got two players that he can rely on.
Starting point is 01:17:58 And all it has to happen is for that alliance, to be tested. And he's done the groundwork for it. So I give Devin kudos for it. And I love the fact that he's like evolving into this, you know, villain archetype from his chicken killing and naming. Yeah. It's, I think it's great.
Starting point is 01:18:15 He's again, a really fleshed out character that I'm investing in. Yes. I agree. I mean, look, he went there, he gave them,
Starting point is 01:18:24 he gave again so much information about Jenna. And it kind of like it didn't even matter in the end. I think it's more like he was so open with how much he hated Jenna that it didn't even move the needle. But like the fact that he was so open with it to begin with is probably the issue. But like going and given that information, he is so honest that it didn't change where he already was. But the radical honesty to begin with is probably the issue.
Starting point is 01:18:48 I mean, he's fun in that there's definitely, you know, he can be hypocritical as most villains can be. We see that a lot on Australian Survivor. And he's like, kill be the one. I feel like I've seen this exact thing. many, many, many times in Australian. So many times. It's like you're naming dead chickens that you're killing after your enemies.
Starting point is 01:19:09 You know what I mean? Like, you're not all made chip too, but that's fun. That's fun. I've seen it's fun in Australian Survivor, these archetypes who are like, I don't lie in, you're a bad person, nerdy superfan for playing the game. I'm not doing that, but I am. I would never play the game. Yeah, I am naming the chicken I'm killing after the person.
Starting point is 01:19:29 I'm going to vote out. So look, various Australians have I ever quoted in that way as well, other than the diversity, let's be quite honest. But I think, but I think, you know, how much do we credit Devin here for the vote going his way? Like, he gets out his enemy in Jenna. Do you think that was the right decision? Jenna versus Alexis.
Starting point is 01:19:49 And how much credit are we giving to the Devons and the jellies of the world here for being in this position? Like, okay, let's start off with the elephant in the room. There's five people. Like, which, like, what direction does Jenna have, to go in this scenario. Like, it's already tipped against her
Starting point is 01:20:05 because from if, because Jenna doesn't know about the helicopter alliance. To her, it's pretty much trying to make them go, um, Toka Strong and stays Tocke strong in her mind. But she's at a disadvantage already. It's basically three
Starting point is 01:20:21 against maybe two. Or it's four against one at this point. So the situation put, Devin and Jelly in a good position rather than Devin creating a good position. I think the only sort of longevity point that Devin could have thought of was going, hey, I've already actively told the other side and many people that I don't like this person. I don't like this person.
Starting point is 01:20:47 I don't want to work with them. Could I keep them in as, you know, an I owe you later as a person that people won't expect me to work with and pull that out of the bag but that's way too like I don't know, meta-gaming thinking far ahead or I could just get rid of you and just work with the people I want to
Starting point is 01:21:09 and then of course like the only options are Alexis or Jenna and if you get rid of Alexis you piss off ori not the time you want to be testing out a new alliance's ability to play fluid or you could but you could argue
Starting point is 01:21:27 like Devin doesn't know this but Sharon and Ory have been voting on different sides and have recovered so they do have a fluid play in them but I think yeah I give the situation more of a factor in controlling that vote than Devin and Jelly to be honest yeah I mean they were just on the wrong side of the vote they got swapped into a very favorable position I would say
Starting point is 01:21:50 the second I saw the swap tribes the first thing I said was like, oh no, Jenna's completely screwed. So screwed. So screwed. Yeah, obviously being there was like the main person who's like hated her from day one and a helicopter alliance. So I was like, that is it. It was hard to see a way out for her.
Starting point is 01:22:06 So I mean, I think that Jenna plays this in a way that I will criticize, but in saying that she was screwed. You know what I mean? And actually, the funny thing is, this is maybe a bit confusing, but she does the right thing. But I think for the wrong reasons. And also it doesn't matter what she does. She's done, explain.
Starting point is 01:22:28 But Jenna doesn't know about the helicopter line. She's saying an exit as well. She didn't know about this. I mean, she's not even picking up on necessarily. And Rob even asked in the exit, like, on like maybe Ori and Jelly having a bit of a thing. So she's not even saying, oh, I think it's three against me. I just have to fight with Alexis. I mean, if she knew that and what we know is true, that actually is the right play.
Starting point is 01:22:50 Like just pushing Alexis under the bus when she comes to you with this information is the right. thing to do. But she doesn't know that. She thinks she's a swing vote. So from a swing vote perspective, which isn't the lay of the lab, but she doesn't know that, can't know that. She should not go with Devon and Jelly. She was given Devon, giving them everything, Devin and Jellon, Kevin naming dead chicken after her. She groveling to them when she should be the swing vote in power. She thinks she's the swing vote. She goes home thinking she's the swing vote. If you were the swing vote, yeah, you shouldn't go with them. You shouldn't go with them. And so, yeah, I mean, look, in saying that, maybe she, I don't know if she thought maybe the Devin, because
Starting point is 01:23:26 he had the extra vote, she knows, they know that Kyle had the opportunity for an extra road, they know that Devin went on the journey. And that puts them in the Carl Camilla position that they were at the swap where they can't lose at a tie. And I hate that I'm bringing this up because, like, yeah. The difference here is that, um, Jenna has equivocal information that Devin does not like her. Alexis comes to her and goes, like, you know, he was bad-mouthing you, left, right and center. That should have been, all right, cool. If Jenna thought she was the swing vote, she should have just been like,
Starting point is 01:23:56 nah, dead to me. I'm going to massage Lori and Alexis as much as I can. 100%. Yeah, because... Yeah. And she said she didn't believe it because she went to Ori and Ori said that wasn't happening. Now, the first
Starting point is 01:24:13 thing is, why did you need to go to Ori? It's so obvious. His whole thing is radical honesty. It's so obvious. Everyone knows. He told both beaches so why we even relying on Ory. The second thing is, why is Ory, who should be then trying to get you as a swing vote? Why would he vouch for the other side?
Starting point is 01:24:28 If anything, now that feels concerning, it feels like everyone's coming to you. She was like, oh, that means Alexis was just trying to get to me. It's like, they should both be trying and they should both be worried and trying to use you as a swing vote. Why is Ory not doing that? Like, why... That's the thing. Yeah. If elect, like,
Starting point is 01:24:44 that's a dead giveaway. If Alexis is the only one trying to like garner like, you know, your attention you're like, okay, you're worried. He isn't. Why? But I don't know. And the interesting thing is that that that is what taught her, then she was like, okay, so they're not coming for me. But what she should have thought is, she should have come to maybe the right conclusion there, which is they're all protecting each other. Is there something going on? Are the only people, am I in trouble? Are the only people in trouble me in Alexis? In which case, let me push Alexis under the bus. So she does push Alexis under the bus. That is what she should be doing. She can't know that's what she should be doing. Clearly, even if she did it, she was screwed. Those are the levels that I'm trying to. And then Alexis is the other side of that where she is right to be trying to pull over Jenna. She thinks Jenna, again, is a swing vote. And she and Ori are discussing this. If, like, if Jenna was on the level and Ori was like, no, we've got to vote out Jenna, I would be as Alexis. Like, you want us to go with the two?
Starting point is 01:25:42 You want us to go to the two, two, two, when we could go to a three, one? Like, I, I don't want to, you know, but the only thing that I think might have sold that for Alex's, like, you know, who doesn't have as much power with Ori as she thinks she does because of this helicopter alliance. But the only thing that might sell that is the fact that Jenna is like really not trustworthy and is not trying to work with them. Because if Jenna was trying to work with them and Ori was making Alexis not go with Jenna and instead go with Devon and Jelly and this kind of like three part group that we have in this five, if I was Alexis, I would be like, then I'm next out though because they're not going to go out you because you are needed for challenges. You're in. You're not trying. a two-two. Yeah. And there's an extra vote in every bit. Anyway, that should be what she's thinking
Starting point is 01:26:26 at her lay of the land without the helicopter alliance. Because the, um, the shoe situation was the shoe trade off like Jenna gets a shot in the dark and Alexis gets her shoes until the end of dribble. Was that the, that was that the, that was like, yeah, we're not going to vote each other out. So you give me your shoes. But, okay, right. But what did you think of that? But what did you think of that, by the way. I've never been done before, but I was like, I'm kind of dig it. Sure. Yeah, I loved it.
Starting point is 01:26:57 Can I just say, this is something you should not do. Like, it feels like I know that you shouldn't do it. It's so aggressive. There's a reason people aren't doing it. Like, I think Alexis is also like scuffling in the channel. You shouldn't play that way. But when I play just like random, like, because with a survivor card game, that's what I do.
Starting point is 01:27:13 I threaten my jury vote. I give them everything. It's not how you should play Survivor. You shouldn't be so antisocial. but I mean I guess she's voting Jenna out so whatever at that point you or me right so yeah I mean like ask for the shoes just be like no give me your shoes I need to I need to have assurance that you are not like gonna vote me out so give me your shoes and then I'll maybe vote for you and then if it doesn't happen I still have your shoes which I thought was hilarious
Starting point is 01:27:40 I kind of yeah I wish it sort of actually went ahead and we have shoeless you know Jenna walking out. I think with Jenna, I think at the point where she got voted out, she'd probably be given her shoes back. I think it's a good way to try and read someone that you're voting against anyway. I guess the social capital doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:28:03 I'm now convincing myself of this crazy gambit. It's somehow the thing to do. It was fun. It was Fawley. It was, yeah, probably not what you should do. But if you're Jenna, then you're not trying to get Alexis on site. again, you're voting against each other. She's your target.
Starting point is 01:28:21 So all you're doing by not giving your shoes is showing her that she probably is being targeted. So at that point, if you think you have the numbers, you've got to weigh up how much your shoes matter against, like, a possible idol player or a possible shot in the dark. And it's literally just a math equation at that point of like the odds of her hitting something that could mean your shoes walk out with her. This is the thing. I don't like, I think if had Jenna known how much trouble she was in, I reckon the shoes would have gone. and it would have been, like, this would have been great TV moment, shoeless situation. Jenna just didn't know how much trouble she was in.
Starting point is 01:28:56 Well, she's not trying to get Alexis on side. Like, she and Alexis are like, it's not about getting Alexis's vote. It's about, it's about alerting her to the fact that you're coming for her so that she plays something to protect herself and then walks, well, then walks out of the game without your shoes or stays in the game without your shoes because she's hit something. That's what it is. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:16 One of the other. I thought it was an issue. You're trying to fly inside her, basically. Yeah. And that's how you won't give her the shoes. It doesn't seem great. No. Like, this is not the first time a shoe has been played.
Starting point is 01:29:29 You know, Tony, Trello is the wealth famously played a shoe. So. What are the great shoe plays? What about a Mark and Sam, RIP? Leaving the idol in the shoes. Pick the shoes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:43 We called it a shoe pole. The shoe loophole. Yeah. Shoes. Right. Right. Shoes, feet, thumbs. We should make a list. I'm going to make a list. Yeah. So this is, then this is up there. I'm kind of talking myself into it because, look, neither could live while the other survive. Like, one of them is walking out tonight. So for Alexis, you're getting the read on someone who, if she's not out tonight, you are. Right? Yeah. So be aggressive. I'm into it. I, that's why I supported it. I was like, it's kind of, it's not, it's not the same. But it's kind of like the spur of the moment, like Maggie, give me it. It's kind of like, give me a shoe.
Starting point is 01:30:25 Give me collateral. It's not the same as that for the reason of that. That was Maggie's advantage and those are Jenner's shoes. That's genuine. One of them is stealing and one of them is like getting backward is yours. Like that's the different. Nah, like clothes are free for all. Like if you leave it or give it, it's, yeah, it's carte blanche.
Starting point is 01:30:44 you have access to it. It's, you know, can I have your jacket? Like that. Yeah, it was. Can I have a shoes? Some of the great clothing examples throughout Survivor history. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:55 Well, I'm going, okay, I will say there's two, there's a macro and like a micro decision here that I want to talk through. The macro decision of like, of Jenna versus Alexis for Devin and Jelly, making worry happy, important. I think you keep Alexis for everyone. Jenna is not going to be on your side.
Starting point is 01:31:14 For Ori, obviously he wants to keep Alexis. For Devin, he hates Jenna. He just straight up hates her so much. So she should go. Like, he's not going to work with her. I think that Alexis is gunning for you and is calling you a threat. But she's also under fire. And again, much like the swap in 48.
Starting point is 01:31:32 And I just hate having to go back to these comparisons. But you know, no, you could be. It's a very similar situation. Well, no, it's actually very different. But it reminds me a small five-person tribe. but if you keep winning with Alexis, like she could eventually be on your side. Like, Carl and Camilla ended up bonding with Joe and Shaheen
Starting point is 01:31:50 after they had that vote. Whereas Jenna's been with you since day one. Like, she's never going to be in your group in these best of factors that I see. They actively said it at tribal. They're like, yeah, you know, you've got, like we've been together with these people from the get-go. But we clearly don't like each other. Yeah, when Jellie was like, oh, Alex is the threat,
Starting point is 01:32:09 I'm like, no, girl, she's under fire. And she's like, no, it's a real good way of, seeing how people respond when they're under threat. I'm like, yeah, she literally is under threat. What would you do if, you know, you were in that position? Throw the next person or anyone else under the bus. You see a rift, you widen it. That's like game one.
Starting point is 01:32:30 It's funny for her life. Yeah. So I'm not going to, yeah, I think. And you also know the fact that you have Ori to back you up. Like Alexis can't make a decision like unilaterally. Like she can't. She's not in a position to do so. She doesn't have the numbers in Jenna to do so either.
Starting point is 01:32:49 So, Jelly, I think you can, yeah. She's been working with Ori. Well, she actually wasn't, to be fair.
Starting point is 01:32:57 She didn't vote with Ori and they still have a good relationship, which is a credit to Lori. She hasn't worked with Sharonda. I'm sure Ori can tell them that. So there's really potential there for Alexis in a way that Jenna, Jenna's giving them so much more than they deserve. He hates her. He hates her so much.
Starting point is 01:33:11 But still, she's never going to be your people. Like she just want to vote against you. Like she's going right back to like the killies of the world. So I think you take out Jenna. The bigger question, and I really resent having to have this conversation because this is the same conversation for five years,
Starting point is 01:33:26 but it is important. Unfortunately, it's the same like hierarchical, tiny tribe bullshit that we have to talk about. For Ori, there's a decision here because this is where it comes to. He knows Devin has an extra vote. He knows that he's giving power to a duo.
Starting point is 01:33:42 that he's technically not in. May he be at a point? Does he already know about Dave's your vote? Yeah, Devin told him, which I like. Oh, yeah, yeah. On the journey, yeah. On the journey, yes. This is when the decision is getting made about who you give power to. Do you vote out Jenna?
Starting point is 01:34:00 You know if you lose again, Alexis is gone. And that's a relationship that he says, that's his girl, she's gone. And if you lose twice, it's actually not looking great for Ory. Yeah. Versus if you vote out, if you do. bring over Jenna. And again, she's not trying to do that, but he has so much information he can give her. And again, she goes to Ori and he confirms her somehow that that is not happening. They're not coming for it. If he's like, yeah, they are coming for you. And here's additional information I can give you.
Starting point is 01:34:25 She's not trustworthy and she hasn't earned it. But if he wants to put it all into Jenna, bring her over as a swing vote and vote out a Devon or a jelly, maybe Devon with the extra vote. I think Genevon has an idol. But that, and that would be tough. But it does technically put you at the top of the tribe with Alexis, then Jenna, you can lose until the merge and you're not going home pre-merge. So there's actually an interesting decision here that we've, again, spoken about for five years around that kind of short-term gain
Starting point is 01:34:51 for a long-term loss of like selling out the entire helicopter alliance or these long-term relationships that have given you a lot that you've cultivated with the helicopter alliance. But if they lose two more tribal councils, which could happen... Yeah, because it's a disaster.
Starting point is 01:35:06 Yeah, it's the same disaster. It's bullshit. It's 100%. Yeah. Yeah. So what do you think for ORI? What do you think that? That's something there. Yeah, because that's the thing. I agree with you. I think the like this is why don't give Devin too much credit because he was already in an upper hand to make a decision. Like the ORI, I think, I think I said it before. This is an alliance that hasn't been tested. You do have a good information flow, but it is still an untested alliance. So hypothetically, you can cut it for the short term. benefit. Like, and even though I know I've kept a tally of how many times they say something, what is it? Permanent uncertainty. Permanent uncertainty. Do you remember what I said on the boat?
Starting point is 01:35:56 No. Yeah. Permanent uncertainty. So like you don't know if the tides are going to change. So I do, I do agree maybe the short term benefit option is there. But I don't think Orie's thinking like that. I think Ori's already aware that he's in a very good position now. And he is just waiting for the tides to change again and be in a different situation. I don't think, like, the right decision would have been to read three or four or two, actually, no, actually, literally two votes ahead and go, how do I make sure I'm in the prime position so that I, A, get to keep my ally that I have actually tried and trusted in Alexis and Jellie, who kind of kind of has a crush on me.
Starting point is 01:36:41 So maybe, maybe I can work that. For what it's worth, I demand a showmance. I'm like Devin in this as well. I love net-making and I'm not good at it. But I love, I love and I like feeling important
Starting point is 01:36:56 and I want to set people up, but it never works out. I'm actually really good at it. Really? How many marriages can you? So, what's your tally? So inadvertently,
Starting point is 01:37:09 I've caused, not cause, how my doing has resulted in like two marriages, in a bedroom. And do they call you out, like in the speeches? But why inadvertently? What does that mean?
Starting point is 01:37:22 It's like me being there led to the two meeting and that situation resulted in their relation. Actually, do three. Three, three. When you be there. I think this is kind of like Carter and the mutiny. There needs to be some intentionality. Like the boat just can't be leaving.
Starting point is 01:37:39 So, no, basically, in all of those situations, I had a thing with one of these people. It's crazy that just happened three times. Yeah, and then... And because you broke up with them. Yeah, I broke up with them. You are good luck, Chuck? Yeah, literally. And they literally...
Starting point is 01:37:56 That's not the same thing, Karen. No, but, like, the... For two of those situations, the person that they literally met on that night, um, consoling and licking their wounds because I had, you know, done a me and like brush them off rebound matchmaking yeah and then was the person that they ended up this is interesting but it's not what we're talking about here no but and then two people i have actively introduced to one another yeah and i'm going to their wedding next year like i literally went hey that's legit yeah that's legit yeah so i think i you know i i had a good lucky rabbit's food
Starting point is 01:38:33 situation where like me being an arseful has led to people getting married and then me being a very good person and understanding that these two people would be really good and it was more so, like to be honest, I kind of went, these two would be really great on my rugby team. I'm going to recruit you two.
Starting point is 01:38:51 You know, but no, and then they got along really well. I was like, you two. But you didn't introduce them for the sake of romance? That's not, there's not matchmaking card. What do you think we're doing here? I introduced them because they were good people and I thought they would do really well.
Starting point is 01:39:06 And then they got along with the rugby team. well that's not the same thing no it is it is I put two people in a situation and they got together okay I don't think that counts I mean look it's better than me I'm like I
Starting point is 01:39:22 because this is what's annoying is Peter my husband he's very good at math speaking we're going to a wedding next month that he intentionally said he added one friend and a different friend they didn't know each other he hosted a pool party he said you should give her a ride they're getting married next month which is so annoying like not that they're getting married
Starting point is 01:39:37 but that he, like, and that's not the first one. He's really good at matchmaking. Then I'm like, what's the count? Three? No, that does, you setting up your own marriage doesn't count. Yeah, I don't think so either, but it's all I have. I love matchmaking.
Starting point is 01:39:52 I want to matchmake more people. Should I be like, what should I be doing? I'm trying really hard. I'm always thinking, like, friends and yeah. I don't know. My, like, I feel like, surely like, no, my inadvertent ones count. I was a part of it. No.
Starting point is 01:40:09 I was there. They don't. They don't. They don't. And Peter even now is like, he thinks of my single friends and he thinks of his friends. And like, you know he's got like a banger on his hand. Like, you know that if he sets them up, they're going the distance. Can Peter?
Starting point is 01:40:23 Can you set them up with? Okay, maybe. I mean, he can think about it. He can think about it. Think about it. You're in consideration now because, but you don't want it to be from me because it's not going to go. Put me on the list. Like Peter, like at one.
Starting point is 01:40:36 At one point, yeah. And they'll let him know. No, definitely let him know. Yeah, and we will podcast about it at my wedding. That would be amazing because you're in Melbourne. He knows a lot of people in Melbourne. We'll think about it. Okay, great.
Starting point is 01:40:47 I love this because I love matchmaking because I love love love. What were we even talking about? Were we talking about something strategic? Jelly and Ori and potential show masks. Yeah. No, I want them to be together. I want them to be together. I love show.
Starting point is 01:41:01 I love frankenship. I love Romba. Basically the reason I'm a survivor fan. Like that was right at the beginning. Nothing will never forget. Nothing will ever talk that. Nothing in the world. In the world.
Starting point is 01:41:13 So I'm sure we were talking. Okay, we're talking on Orii and Jel. And getting married in my mind. Yeah. Lori's decision. Yeah. Go back. I like that he stuck with the helicopter alliance because that's his girlfriend.
Starting point is 01:41:28 No, I actually do like it. They can have a dirty tie together at some point. That's how I thought this was. When the reward was coffee, I was, and tea, I was like, there you go. And then they lost. Oh, and then they quit. Oh, man, missed opportunity. And, like, yeah, there was a lot of, like, emphasis on, like, showmance, like,
Starting point is 01:41:49 Eric and Kilby having their, like, what was it, lovers? I don't know, what was it called? Romance. No, they called it something. I don't know. I don't even watch the dating shows anymore. Like, I don't want, and I shouldn't be. I watched Survivor in the Hope that one day be a showmats every, like, 10, C.
Starting point is 01:42:06 but I'm not watching like Love Island. No, they call the Lover Boys Alliance. No, I watch the dating shows. I used to watch The Bachelor more religiously than I watched Survivor. Like, I know every winner. It's bad. Australian or US? You all of them.
Starting point is 01:42:22 US just became really hard to watch, like from like a genuine, like it's not on Australian TV. Then I was really behind. I, um, yeah, I love that stuff. But anyway, Survivor. Survivor. I will admit Ori is not is not thinking through the hierarchical I'm sure
Starting point is 01:42:40 multi-year disaster tribe ramifications that we've been talking about since 2021 since Shannon Ricard did it in 2021 kill me but but I do think that like it's kind of the same as Lewis last episode three for me like sometimes you're making
Starting point is 01:42:57 decisions to win with like good relationships and all you're making decisions like not to lose like I think like selling out the helicopter alliance in the hope that you don't go to two tribals. And ironically, if he kept jelly in and got rid of Devin with the extra vote, she has an idol. So it wouldn't even necessarily be not to lose,
Starting point is 01:43:13 but you would understand how he would be thinking that. I think, you know, go with these good relationships. I've given him so much. He probably is sacrificing Alexis, let's be honest. And like two tribal councils, it is possible. But you never know, it's there another swap. We know that there's two tribals next episode, so that's going to get rid of someone else on another tribe.
Starting point is 01:43:31 He made a good basketball reference to it. He was like, you know, he was like, last time was like, take the easy shot. This was his like long-term triangle offense play. I don't know who was that? With the helicopter alliance. Maybe. I don't know. I think I mean, Jenner was just kind of screwed.
Starting point is 01:43:50 It was kind of a layer. But yeah, I mean, I don't know a lot about basketball, but I back it. I back to romanticly. Yeah. It was a good. He says that he could find love at one point. So yeah, for like love, strategy, surviving one more vote, it was the right decision. And it was, yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:12 I'm surviving two more votes. That one might be bad. One vote. Two more votes, he might get in trouble. But I still think I back it. I still think. Yeah. To survive one vote, I think it's fine.
Starting point is 01:44:22 Yeah. Alexis, like, if I have to go back to another tribal council and watch Alexis get picked off next week. I, like, that's, this is the thing. It was, I hated every part of it. Like, Jenna with her, like, you know, head in her hands was, was me. Like, I might get cool. I, oh, my God, I wonder where the vote is going to go. Ooh.
Starting point is 01:44:43 Great. Thank you. I love it. But then I was just devastated for Jenna. I was like, she had such a beautiful arc from being, like, the primary target in, and then fighting her way back, getting to a majority alliance, revenge of the nerds. It was so good. and to be so aggressively swap screwed.
Starting point is 01:45:06 Yeah. But, and this, this is like sort of new era survivor that we love, no, to hate. Yeah. Playing itself out.
Starting point is 01:45:15 It was a part of the US survivor so quickly. It just turned into it so quickly. And then I was like, she's got nowhere to move. I feel like the last three episodes was like 10 years ago. I went, oh my God, did I,
Starting point is 01:45:26 was I seeing like old school survivor? And I was having like, you know, there was promise of a showman. there were villains, there were stupid decisions, you know, trying to vote for yourself. And I'm like, oh my God, we are so back. We are so, so back. And then I went, oh, no, no, we're not.

Flip. or that and enjoy via rail love the way i do also want to mention one more thing before we get to the episode four chisie which is four women voted out four of four rog was medically taken away
Starting point is 01:47:51 according to dr carron there was some legitimacy there that's what you said um kind of uh i wanted to address this because look some of it jeff actually addressed it Wow, Jeff, Steve. On his Instagram, it's actually really, I should actually just read what he says. What did he say? I should, I should have it ready. I don't know why.
Starting point is 01:48:15 Like, I'm like, I can't, I shouldn't like crib note this because he actually, okay. He, because he addressed it. He's like, I hear you, I hear you, I hear you. He said, another woman voted out this episode. This season, we started with 11 women, 10 men. Okay, et cetera. Anyway, the first four vote out as a tribe or all women. This is an example.
Starting point is 01:48:35 the tribe dynamics dictate everything. More women at the side of the game doesn't necessarily mean women at the end of the game. Nothing is ever that easy or that clean. Okay. So Jeff is aware of it. He like respectfully, no take on that. Yeah. He's acknowledged it.
Starting point is 01:48:53 Yeah. That's the way that cookie crumbles. That's what he said. And here's my take. Here's what I think. In Australian Survivor, we often talk about parabolic or parabolic women. they often go early because these men do have the physical cushion of what we can't lose them you know like and some of it's situational but the thing is like Anna can screw up and she did
Starting point is 01:49:16 but then they can get rid of her compared to we see in the first episode they're like Brady is pissing me off but it can't be a man we can't lose Brady now can't lose Devon now like even though they are making these mistakes they have that shield of being strong and then the situations may play out to kind of tilt to women early, which Jeff is acknowledging, but doesn't want to change. And that's the difference is that then the game should naturally play up. Like at its core, and especially in the long game of Australian Survivor, then it's going to get tricky for different archetypes.
Starting point is 01:49:47 So maybe, quote unquote, weak of women early, struggle more, but then these big strong guys that's come for them at like the merge, like a really typical merge boot. And then through the end game, we have these opportunities. So what I find is interesting is that Jeff in the end game is like, hmm, sometimes these being strong guys get picked off. You should have fire. Sometimes they get picked off. We should make it a final three. Like that's a problem to be solved when these Terry Deets archetypes that the game was literally changed for. But you're not going to change it. You won't change the beginning. Exactly. And that's why, again, I argue against some of these
Starting point is 01:50:21 like unbalanced twists later on because there is a natural flow to the game. It doesn't work out every time. But this is why it used to be really even. And Australian Survivor, especially when there's like a final two or a really long game, um, it kind of can play out that way where different archetypes will struggle at different times, but we'll kind of reach a parody. But if you're going to only address part of that, then it will become unbalanced.
Starting point is 01:50:48 So that's just like, not even in gender, but like in archetype. And that's just like why. Well, that's the thing. If you, if you let the game play out by itself,
Starting point is 01:50:56 you, you, you, you don't need to sort of keep interjecting these things for the sake of like equity or, equality. It will even itself out by merit to how the game progressed. Like, even
Starting point is 01:51:09 my season, the entire jury consisted of like all women, but, you know, two men. Yeah. And like, the final three were all men. Like, yeah, there were ample opportunity for us to go, oh, wait a minute. But it's just how it progresses.
Starting point is 01:51:29 And like, even like earlier seasons of Survivor, like, like US. There were multiple like big strong dudes voted out for the sake of, you know, just gameplay. And that's because you just let it happen. Um, so yeah. And like, but the thing is, I don't think the last four were, what were because they were weak. Girl, in a sense. I think it's just, it's not about them being weak. It's not about them being voted out physically. It's me just that if they make a mistake, they won't be protected physically in a way.
Starting point is 01:52:05 Yeah. Okay. It was going to be three women to one, that one was protected. Now it's four, zero. Do you know what I mean? It just shifts it. It's not like we're always going to get women always voted out, but it does mean they struggle a bit earlier when they're more dependent on these more traditional survivalist types of the challenges and the type of challenges, although they have been doing puzzles and those are, you know, Jenna was good puzzles.
Starting point is 01:52:28 General's good of puzzles. Yeah. But I do think that they are relying on the people who can like, you know, be really strong of these challenges. And that can be fine with challenge diversity, sure, let the game play out. I think of Jeff wants to know, like, like Ori launching himself right over that, you know, entire A frame was. It was impressive.
Starting point is 01:52:47 Yeah, like super. See that really? Yeah. Yeah, buy a dirty try from my man. Make it happen. Make it happen. This is what I am. Maybe they'll come back for All Stars 55.
Starting point is 01:53:02 and then we can have four daughters. That's why I'm here. That's why I'm watching the show. I'm going to add this because I don't even know the tribes. This is again from Survivor Fax Checker. Thank you so much. Anything from the other tribes. You've obviously talked about Savu, New Savu, Savu.
Starting point is 01:53:18 You went to the, do we have, what about Edina? We talked about Eric and Kilby. Yeah, Eric and Kilby. I mean, Kristen is, you know, I think Chris, so like my sort of like, notes for like this episode because the vote completely does not matter because it doesn't matter. It was more so how each person responded to the tribe swap and how they sort of rallied themselves out of the bottom or into a better position. Like, you know, for example, Toka, Kristen being the old, basically being the odd one out,
Starting point is 01:53:55 going into crisis management mode. She's, that's a profession. and getting everyone on side quite rapidly in a genuine way that people didn't go, oh, okay, you're trying too hard. I mean, other than Carter, Carter said he was being butted up like a pig. My boy Carter switched on. He can tell. He's the best strategist of all time.
Starting point is 01:54:19 He is the strategist of all time. So, like, that was interesting. Mike, for example, goes and says, I'm open to everything. I'm open to anyone. I'm like a lone ranger, pick me up. And then who says it? I think it was either Tanan saying that he's open to everything and he's got completely, he's got no direction whatsoever.
Starting point is 01:54:40 I can't really work on someone like that. And then in contrast, you've also got Kilby, open to everything, doing wacky things with Eric and outwardly projecting this duo to everyone. So I think it contrasted a lot of plays by people to. to gain position in tribes. And I think that was the, maybe the premise of that episode because there was nothing else of note.
Starting point is 01:55:08 Yeah, I think, I mean, the main one I think is Mike. And Mike, Michael's doing a lot here. Kind of felt like if you'll stand for nothing, Mike, what are you for? Like, he was doing so much that it's hard to criticize
Starting point is 01:55:20 because something has to be right. Like something has to be the right way to go. He was like, you'd be my best friend. Then he was like, I don't need to vote the same way twice. I thought that was that something's right, but it wasn't that. Yeah. Like, I'm unreliable.
Starting point is 01:55:34 Like, the reason you should want to be with me is because I'm going to turn on you immediately. That one wasn't good. And Maggie pointed it out being like, well, why didn't you pitch me like when you were in power? You didn't care about me then. I don't like you. What he says about to Kristen is how we lost the number one and he says it may be an interesting
Starting point is 01:55:51 opportunity for you. It's like that's a lot of leverage you don't have. Yeah. That one was not right either. I think where I land on is like, trying to build the relationships organically without it being so heavy-handed that it's like we'd be best friends but also we haven't worked with each other to this point is probably the way like the slow build of relationships I don't feel like that's what Mike was doing I mean obviously
Starting point is 01:56:10 the edit is like feeding us that as well feeding us that as like me concerning quotes the the contrast of it was Kristen being like hey I'm going to teach these people about fruit and every time they have fruit it's Pavlovian they're going to go ah I love that stud I love it you know see yeah yeah psychological warfare. The fruit thing. Yeah. Look, it's not a good spot.
Starting point is 01:56:32 It's not a good spot for Mike. He lost the vote. Like, that is where he was anyway. Yeah. So I think, yeah. We had relationship building. Brady sort of, I don't know, Brady's sort of like softening around the edges.
Starting point is 01:56:44 He's like, you know, he doesn't, I think he said Brody very few times this episode. Added a new word to his vocabulary. Ed Stud is now in the equation. Great for him. I thought the challenge was a throwback to one of my favorite challenge is from Kagayan. Yeah, when they're practicing. And where Jatia screwed up that challenge so spectacularly.
Starting point is 01:57:13 So yeah, that was about it. That's the only thing. And then Eric got yelled at for distracting Maggie. That's that. It was like a very specific challenge. Like I do think that Saba, even though they're two people down, like they might avoid disaster. Although it's two sides the way to travel council. What did you think about the challenge?
Starting point is 01:57:31 So it was Toker. They got their like maze thing and then the ball didn't fall in the thing. What did you think of that? I don't really care about stuff like that. No, I know. I think it's fine. Like what is it? No.
Starting point is 01:57:44 I think it's fine. Whatever. No, it's not fine. It was to land it in the thing. Australian Survivor would never. You would have to repeat that all over again. That would be beyond frustrating. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 01:57:55 And that's what they're going to do. They must have realized there was. with some level of luck to whether it goes in the thing. Like, this is like a mini golf thing where you put it in a certain hole and then it comes out. Like, how much agency really is there and like the ball coming out in the right spot? If it's a lot of agency, it's fine. That sounds really fine.
Starting point is 01:58:13 I'm fine with it. No, I wasn't fine with it. I thought Toka should, yeah, I don't know. Maybe it's because I wanted Tsarwe to like have some, some, I don't know, skin in the game. But I was like, no, if it needs to land in the box, it needs to land in the box. but I'm very like challenge motivated. No. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:58:31 No. Okay. Yeah. I mean, look, I think that if you're ORI and you're making the decision that you have two tribal councils or like it's going to get dire, like he needs to win some challenges for them now. Like he needs on his own back, which he's capable of. But like that's what it comes down to now. All right. Chizzy?
Starting point is 01:58:48 Again? Yes. Yes. Take me. Jacob, take the wine. See an emcee color again. One, two, three. One.
Starting point is 01:58:55 One. One. One. One, two, one, two, three, two, three, two, one. Now, I also struggled with this, but I'm going to get Lori with three votes. Again, I'm okay with it. I'm okay with the decisions. I think Alexis is still, like, she, like, is really relying on Ori and it really seems to
Starting point is 01:59:14 like, they have a good relationship, even though he didn't vote that way originally with her. He voted for Eric in that first tribal council. I think that that is pretty good, the stuff he has going on with jelly. the way he made everyone laugh at tribal council. Like, yes, he got swapped into a good position, but also they're all doing good work here to be fair to blindside Jenna. So I also have to think about that.
Starting point is 01:59:35 And then I thought, should I be giving points to, like, Jelly and Devin? But Jelly wanted to vote out of Lexus, which I don't agree with, Anna, and she didn't get her way. And she's got to get, like, swapped into a favorable spot as did Devin. And then Devin, like, the perception is so bad. And, like, a lot of that is really on him. know, like when he goes and he's giving his radical honesty, like he is giving it. He's bitching. Ironically, his eyes nemesis Kilby would have doing the same thing. He is giving information to people
Starting point is 02:00:04 he doesn't know. He's giving a lot of trust without that knowledge. So when he's bitching about someone like Kilby or Jenna, we know someone like Eric isn't going to like that and they see him as a villain. And they don't like it. Ironically, Kilby is doing this. Like he's also going on about Devin, like Sharonda's not going to like that. Kilby and Devon aren't too dissimilar. It's maybe where I've come. But, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:00:29 Do you have to squint? But I think, yeah, a little bit. This is, you know, it's, like, it's like what the Harry Potter way. If you squint like this, it looks like the grim. I guess. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not giving them points, basically.
Starting point is 02:00:45 I gave already three points. And then I thought two points to Tanaan. Okay. Yeah. for shoring up then with Carter. And then I thought one point from my boy Carter, when he got the point originally was only one honorable mentioned before. He's a master strategist.
Starting point is 02:01:02 The reason he's below tonight, I'm not doing, he was always getting at this point. The reason he's below to Nan is because I think he's a little bit, like I get why he's wary of Kristen, but I also think he needs to be more open, like you're saying. If he comes to it and you can vote her out, like you do you. But like, you need to just be a bit more open with it. Those are my points. What are your points?
Starting point is 02:01:22 So my votes were like, my notes were respect the hustle and I respected the hustle. So Kristen got my three points because. Oh, yeah. That's fair. Yeah. I thought she was like me to see these things play out in a vote. I mean, she's in a bad spot. But yeah, that's very fair. That's very fair. She's in a bad spot. And she like, and I don't know, this is my like nerd coming out. And she's like, I've studied. I know this. And I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 02:01:45 I study too. I like that about you. You know, she pointed out the weird, no, no fruit, no, I don't know, something, whatever it was called. And then like, she told everyone what like Toka meant. And then when they won the challenge, Brady's like, yeah, Toka, Toka, Toka. I was like, look at you, Kristen. You've like planted the seeds so much so that the bros are getting around it. Like, yeah, you've like, Jedi mind tricked this. This is great from you.
Starting point is 02:02:16 So I get, Kristen gets my three. and like yeah I love the edit Kristen is getting it's like such a steep contrast of Kilby from like the get-go this is like the power lesbian of my dreams I love her right what else
Starting point is 02:02:31 and then my two Carter Master strategist Master strategist and so like last episode I was having a chat to Eden he's like oh my God stop being obsessed with this like boy like he's not like
Starting point is 02:02:47 actively. And I was like, no, no, no, he will. He will learn. He's a farmer. He knows how to, like, you know, sew seeds and, like, work hard. He knows what to do. He will, he will have some agency and he will pick a person. And he did that. He found Tanan. He was like, she's, she's going to be a doctor one day. She's smart. I like it. I'm going to do it. Kristen, stop dressing me up, like, you know, a pig for slaughter. I'm going to hold. I think that pig was getting slaughtered. I think that pig was for sure. Yeah, but, you know, still, oh, was it for show? Like, a show really, okay.
Starting point is 02:03:21 I really hope so. There's only an animal that I can really take per episode, pretty much in that. Well, I think I associated it with the chicken killing. I was like, oh, my God, this is like, you know, putting makeup on a pig. I don't know. That's too different. Why would you put on makeup to slaughter a pig? That would be for show.
Starting point is 02:03:36 Yeah, for sure. Never mind. Regardless. I had the killing in mind. But, yeah, I gave card of my two points because I thought that was good show of agency. You're thinking. Your self-aware. for West strategic king.
Starting point is 02:03:49 Well done. And then I gave my last one is for Tanan. She's aware of the tribe. She knows that a good loyalty vote in Carter is going to have some merit to it. She's still throwing out some sass, which is great. What was it? And she was like, oh yeah, Mike is trying to play Survivor, but I think he's actually playing survival.
Starting point is 02:04:13 And I went, yes, Tanan. Love it. Yeah, we don't actually give shitty points for SaaS, but it's fine. It was a hard week. Yeah. Additional. Additional for the SaaS. I did want to give an honorable mention to Maggie.
Starting point is 02:04:27 Maggie gets an honorable mention all the time, but just for like, I think she's doing well, just from, and she's gaining more agency as the show progresses. Yeah. I mean, she was going to get a point for me in that, for episode three and then Carter Appreciation Society. And then also I felt because Maggie didn't want Pat to go. and then wasn't in on the conversation where they agreed on Pat. I was like, I don't love that.
Starting point is 02:04:50 I will say, we said maybe the parabolic woman thing is happening because from an edit perspective and maybe even a game perspective and a character type perspective, if you look at this, like, hard to see a man winning, really. I think Kristen's winner edit remains blinding. Carter maybe, Carter for president. Lewis possibly, but then you look like Sharonda, I think, is in a great, Linnea.
Starting point is 02:05:11 Alexis is not at a great spot right now. She makes it through this. Jelly, I think, definitely could. the rise of Tanan, maybe. Tanan's a little late to get to know her, unfortunately. Nah, it's a worldly like episode four. She had a bit of her... It's only 13 episodes.
Starting point is 02:05:25 Still, like, I don't know. They under-edited, oh my God. Gras. 41? Yeah, no. Oh, Erica. Okay. Yeah, well, I mean, if that's the baseline, then, I mean, she has way more of an edit than Erica. So, sure. I mean, possibly, but then you can't base it on an Eric edit.
Starting point is 02:05:40 You know, like, that's, like, trying to base a game on Tony. Like, some things are just their own thing. I, come on. It's like, survive a notoriously under-edit, Edits Asian players. I will, like, that I will take to my... That's hopeful. That's, okay, great, let's do it. I mean, it's unfortunate for a reason, but sure, on the basis of that, possibly. Possibly, but yeah, Kristen, blinding in your face.
Starting point is 02:06:02 I think Kristen, I wouldn't be mad about it because I really like her, but, like, oh, I love it. It'll be from, like, moment one if she wins for me. Yeah. That's it. This was fun. Any more thought? no like I am holding out like as I said before I have so much faith in the cast and the players
Starting point is 02:06:24 more than I have faith in the US survivor game in sort of say the coin toss and we're going to get the proverbial coin tosses you know like that's it's coming for you you know yeah and if like next episode there is a goddamn journey or some sort of beware advantage then I then I will then I will probably like lose my mind but for now i'm i'm holding out yeah yeah well and peter needs to find me a husband and peter will find you a husband it's all gonna it's gonna be fine like yeah we achieved a lot today it's all the night anticipated and jelly and all you're going to get married yeah they will have their dirty chai together um and it'll be beautiful this will be the next rob and amber there is hope maybe tanam and carter will be a thing
Starting point is 02:07:14 thing. Who knows? I wasn't picking up on those vibes. I don't know. Farmer wants a wife. Yeah. Maybe that's what it is. I kind of assumed Carter like was married with multiple kids. I think he's quite. I don't think so. He's a farmer. Oh yeah. True. Yeah. All right. Yeah. It's not everything like a farmer wants a wife. That's what I know about farmers. They want wives. They want wives. Yeah. All right. Fair enough. cliche for a reason, but Karin will find you a husband. And that'll, yeah, where can people find you? Potential students.
Starting point is 02:07:50 Slide it to the DM. This is why I'm bad at it. This is why don't do that. No, that's not the way to do that. Please don't stop. Although, that's how Marianne met her husband. Really? We did the DMs that I didn't know.
Starting point is 02:08:05 Survivor fan. He picked her first on his draft team. He flit into her DMs and I was like, that's how you win the draft. Like that's a real draft. And you marry her? Maybe people know. I can't encourage this. I'm not encouraging it.
Starting point is 02:08:19 I'm just saying that that did happen. That did happen. That will not happen to me. No, don't. You can find me on Karen. Another time, Marianne was talking about someone, a player who looks up with fans.
Starting point is 02:08:35 And I was like, well, one of them. And I married him. I was like, but. One. No, I heard about this as well, and I'm like very, I was like, no, don't do that. Don't, don't. But then, like, Australian Survivor was, like, very incestual in its heyday, like, problems. Problematic.
Starting point is 02:08:55 Yeah. Again, Mark and Fam, RIP. Ooh. Anyway. You were probably end the podcast. You were giving it. Where can people find? But not romantic.
Starting point is 02:09:05 Not romantically. Unleast? No. No. No. No. Unless you really think, no, no. No, we're not condoning this.
Starting point is 02:09:16 You can reach out to me on Karen underscore Grintickle and it's Karen on Twitter. Starting point is 02:09:38 Romantic rejections, medical advice. And, um, feet picks. No, no, no. No. No. No. No. See, I'm like, we'll, we'll do it better than that.
Starting point is 02:09:52 At Shannon Gates for me, don't say me any of that. Nothing. I don't want any of that. Reach out just randomly. I don't know. It's so nice. I wanted to thank people because it was such a nice response to, you know, the first podcast that we did and, you know, coming back.
Starting point is 02:10:06 It's been really fun to talk about, even when three tribes. Because then we get to bitch, right? Which is fun. Yeah. Strategic. Bitch. Oh my God. Message us and bitch to us. Yeah. Bitch to us. You can trust us. We love bitching. Yeah. Definitely. Responsible bitching. Responsible bitching. In two weeks I'll be back with someone.
