RHAP: We Know Survivor - Survivor’s 2nd Best Showmance

Episode Date: October 20, 2026

Survivor’s 2nd Best Showmance Also available on YouTube! Rob Cesternino and Brandon Donlon dive deep into Survivor lore for a podcast episode devoted entirely to the ranking of the greatest Su...rvivor showmances of all time. Forget tribe swaps and idol plays—this is about sparks, secrets, and the million-dollar risks of romance on the beach. Together, Rob and Brandon tackle the age-old question: after Rob and Amber, which couple claims the title of Survivor’s second-best showmance? Showmances from all seasons are fair game as the hosts create a definitive tier list, establishing strict rules for what constitutes a true Survivor romance (hint: camera time, plot relevance, and, sometimes, that infamous on-screen kiss). The conversation revisits iconic duos like Amanda & Ozzy and Greg & Colleen, explores overlooked or short-lived pairings, and hilariously unpacks why modern Survivor makes romantic connections tougher than ever. With plenty of callbacks to classic seasons and fresh commentary on recent relationships, the episode captures the fun and chaos of romance under the torch lights. Key discussion points include: – How showmances affect strategic gameplay and put couples at risk – Where relationships like Amanda & Ozzy, Candice & Adam, Figgy & Taylor, and Matt & Frannie fall on the ultimate Survivor romance ranking – The ongoing debate over what counts as a true showmance versus a mere “no-mance” – The social, strategic, and occasionally awkward fallout from being part of a couple on Survivor – Listener engagement—who did Rob and Brandon miss, underrate, or overhype? Rob and Brandon wrap up with one big question: is romance ever truly worth it in the game of Survivor, or do showmances always get snuffed out by strategy? Tune in and join the debate to see if your favorite Survivor couple made the cut—and who really deserves to wear that Silver Heart. Starting point is 00:00:08 Hey, everybody. What's going on? Rob Cisterino, we're back. And last week, I got together with Brandon Donlin. We made a tier list. And we talked about the, we ranked all the quits in Survivor history. Who was legit? Who wasn't? You know what?
Starting point is 00:00:25 I have to say, it was polarizing. But I have to say, it did well. So we're back to do some more listing of things after this week's episode. It got me thinking when we saw where an Ori and Jelly had gotten. together in the episode. It's a real will, they, won't they? But it got me thinking, you know, Robin Amber, of course, storied history in Survivor, found love, amazing life, four kids, you know the story. But now got me thinking, who's the second best showmance in the history of Survivor? And I don't think there's a clear answer. And here to figure it out here with me
Starting point is 00:01:00 today, it's Brandon Donnell. Brandon, how are you? I'm so good. I'm thrilled. Last week was the most polarizing thing that I had been a part of since the first episode of Survivor 45. Yes. And I am here again. And you know what? We're not even going to bring up what happened last week. We're not going to bring up that Kelly Shin.
Starting point is 00:01:18 No, I'll bring it up. I was screwed by production. Yes. Yeah. We did a podcast last week. We went through all the different quits. And the commenters were really on my neck. And I guess by proxy of Brandon, even though he did, he did push harder for people really felt
Starting point is 00:01:36 like that Purple Kelly, her quit, was very legit. She did not have enough clothes. Now, if production said Purple Kelly, here's a parka, would you stay? Who's to say whether or not she would? But I definitely have heard the loud voice of our audience on YouTube on how they were feeling. And it sounds like Rob was wrong. We should do a podcast called Who's to Stay, where we try to make all the quitters
Starting point is 00:02:05 stay. And what could we have given them to stay? To get them to stay and see if that would have changed anything. That being said, we're going to talk about the second best showman's in Survivor History. And after coming off of, what a week it's been for us since we got together last week to talk about the quitters. We went to
Starting point is 00:02:21 D.C. We had a great time. We had so much time in person. We did the Ramble Battle Royale. How are you holding up? I feel good. You know, we felt a lot of love last week. None of it romantic. But we're going to feel romantic love in the next hour with all of these folks.
Starting point is 00:02:38 But we thought a lot of platonic love. You know, well, we were around Drew and Melody, who were coming off of Big Brother. And I feel like that if we were going to do a list of all of the Big Brother showmances, I mean, I think we could get through the top 20 and still have honorable mentions of people who don't make the list. But you have Robin Amber, who I got to see with my own eyes,
Starting point is 00:03:03 fall in love in front of us on Survivor All-Stars, but really the notable Survivor showmances outside of Robin Amber, whether it's their shadow casting such a like, hey, don't do this, or the fact that people aren't showering and it's gross. Maybe that's the bigger turnoff, but it's very surprising through 51 seasons. We've had so few notable showmances. Yeah, and we'll get into it. Once you see the tier list, there's some reaches.
Starting point is 00:03:33 There's some people who exchanged a loving glance and they got on the tear list. Yeah. Should we have put on Alex, Bell, and Shauna? I didn't think of that until right now. Were they a showmance? So I think first thing that we need to do between us is just establish what is the criteria for the showmances? Because you have people who they were both on Survivor. They fell in love.
Starting point is 00:03:56 They got together. We have marriages like that. We have people who fall for each other after the show and have a lot. had long-standing relationships. But the key to a showmance is that it has to happen on the show. Has to happen on the show. There needs to, I think, be, you need to see a scene and then you have to have also somebody else talking about it, I think also helps.
Starting point is 00:04:20 It needs to be part of the plot of the show. Yeah. Oftentimes we have to vote out the woman. It doesn't count as a showmands unless we vote out the woman who's part of the showmans. I think there have been times where the guy gets voted. first, but I think there has to at least be vibes in the show that these two people are making eyes at each other. They don't have to necessarily, you know, to do anything beyond hold hands or anything like that. But there's at least a whiff of the fact that these two people are a
Starting point is 00:04:53 couple. Love is in the air. Now, I'm thinking, Cupid. P-Cupid. We have, you know, we'll talk about who's in our list. But I'm wondering, once we talk through all the seasons, if there are people that we remember that jump out at us. And some people don't have a picture together on Google Images. And that's why they didn't make the list. It came down to something as simple as that. And maybe there's going to be some people that we missed
Starting point is 00:05:16 and the commenters will set us straight. Yeah. There's no, Kelly Shin, no showman. I don't think any showmance for Kelly Shin, right? Yeah. Not on her tribe. None. Who's to say?
Starting point is 00:05:30 Who's to say? All right. So we've defined a showmance, Rob and Amber, far and away. We don't even have to rank them, okay? Rob and Amber are number one, number one, and then there's a Grand Canyon. But who's Survivor's second-best showmance?
Starting point is 00:05:45 That's what we're here to do today. Brandon, you want to tell us the tiers that you came up with? Of course. So we have, here, I'll bring them up on the screen here. I'm actually going to get the couples out of the way, so you can't see them. And here we go. We've got our second best tier.
Starting point is 00:06:00 That's the winner. That's the person who we or the, the duo rather that we think is the second best showmats. We've got cute, not hot. These is, they were electric in the moment. They just, you know, they either faded with time or they aren't the best. And sometimes in life you're just not the best. Last week when I texted Gabby Piscuzzi about somebody who we mentioned last week. Shout out to B. Wynn.
Starting point is 00:06:21 She texted meh, M-E-H with a dot. So that's her middle tier. And then no man. It's just, it's nothing. That's what we're looking for today. We have cute, not hot. that replies to the heat of the intensity of the relationship, not the aesthetics of the people in the relationship.
Starting point is 00:06:38 We've got meh with the period and then no manse. I also would love to know from the audience, what's the best way for us to visually represent this? We have the tier list up, but I think that maybe a slideshow of the people might be the better way to go as we're talking through everybody. Sure. And then we what?
Starting point is 00:06:55 We write it down? Sure. Yeah, that's a good... and forth between the tier list. Yeah. Listen, we want your feedback. We want nothing more than your feedback. Even if it's not so nice, we want to hear it.
Starting point is 00:07:09 All news is good news. All right, so let's start with, and I'm just going to drag everybody up and put them in our top thing, and we can decide where they go. Here is Greg and Colleen from Survivor 1. Yeah, and I think, we're talking about Greg and Colleen. Let's see. Maybe tell me if this is maybe the. the better way to do this. If I,
Starting point is 00:07:31 Greg and Colleen, okay? And then... Call on an audible. Okay, how about this? Okay. Is this good? Put on the bottom of the screen?
Starting point is 00:07:42 Okay. People like that. People love the bottom of the screen. People are watching us. They don't want to see us in a little postage stamp with a big screen. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Greg and Colleen, first off, there were vibes, but was this? actually, does this meet the definition of a showmance? So I'm so thrilled you asked that, off the rip after I just defined the showmance.
Starting point is 00:08:06 I'm unclear. When you Google Best Survivor Showmances, they are often, if not always on the list. But they did have a, didn't they, there was a conversation about them having something, right? I think that it was maybe a flirtmans
Starting point is 00:08:22 between them, but I don't think that either of them real, like, I feel like that it was at least a flirt man, I feel like that the producers really wanted that I think that maybe there was like leading questions that were asked. And then I think that both of them had a habit of being like sarcastically answering some of these questions and be like, Colleen says like, oh yeah, it's just hot sex with Greg all the time. But the producers would then unironically put that into the show. They ran with it. Now, what's hard to ignore about Greg and Colleen is that they are, nobody's seen them in quite a while.
Starting point is 00:09:05 So there's a chance they're together now. I think there's no chance that they're actually together, but they were, Greg and Colleen is almost like a sentence. Hard to even say Greg without Greg and Colleen. Sure, sure. Colleen has stood the test of time in a way that maybe Greg had, when you talk about Greg's story, you bring up Colleen. where Colleen stands on her own, mostly because of her work in the animal, the Rob Schneider film,
Starting point is 00:09:32 that people like a lot. Right. Certainly more chemistry with Greg than with Rob Schneider. Yeah, okay, you have to hope you don't... If you have natural chemistry with Rob Schneider, I think that's on you more than it is on anybody else. But this, if it's not a technical showman,
Starting point is 00:09:50 there's no on-screen kiss, which some of the people that we're going to talk about have that. I feel like it's hard to put it in cute, not hot. is it is it met or is it nothing i think that it's in the running for second best that's how a bleak it is i think for second best we can put them up in the set for until we have other people i mean right now they're the only couple that we've talked about it is the second best i i think right now i think we have to put them into their second best sure there's a second showman you heard it first i think that there is like at least like a shot of them kind of holding hands
Starting point is 00:10:26 Yeah, I remember, and I don't know if I dreamed this or this was on the show, but they're like running around on the beach and they're like splashing each other. That's canon, I think. That's in the show. It's something. It's something. And I think that when we did not know what this thing was, we thought, yeah, this could happen. Yeah, absolutely. And you had to wonder in the pitch meetings before the season had aired. They said, what if we had people fall in love? Were there people now? I've never seen Gilligan's Island. Were people in love on Gilligan's Island? Do they have a couple? So you never saw it. Tell me in your mind, what do you think it is, Gilligan's Island?
Starting point is 00:11:03 Well, I know the theme song. I know that there's a boat that crashes on an island. I know they couldn't rebuild the boat because it would end the show. So they just have to like fall in around with the materials. And there's a skipper. There's a woman. There's a captain. Is the captain the skipper?
Starting point is 00:11:23 There was several women. I remember there being a woman. What's the woman the actress's name? Ginger. Dawn? Dawn, I believe, is the actress of the woman who played Marianne. Yeah, I believe it was their first name. But anyway, yeah, so they were on the island.
Starting point is 00:11:42 I don't think that anybody ever hooked up, even Mr. and Mrs. Howell, who were married. I don't know if they ever hooked up. They never really described their love life, but I don't think it was really hot and heavy. But there was a couple. There were, there was a married couple. Is a married couple a couple?
Starting point is 00:12:00 That's for the census. There are a couple, but it was, I would not say that there were, it was not a very romantic couple, Mr. and Mrs. Howell. But I think that there were maybe some, some vibes between, you know, there was a professor who was kind of a young strapping guy, but never really went anywhere. I think that maybe Gilligan had a crush on Marianne or Ginger sometimes. Yeah, you would think that they did a, you know, they said a lot in the pre, in the news before Survivor Borneo, that they were going for a Gilligan's Island thing. So you'd want to have everybody. That's what Sue Hawks audition tape was all about.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Yes, I remember she said that. She could name everybody on the Gillian Island. It would just take a while. I'm sure it would just take a minute. All right, well, their second best for now, but then we'll move them after that once we have somebody else. All right, who's next? Let's talk about how's Jeff Wilson and Kim. Mullen from Survivor Palau. Hmm. Not great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Now, they were in the direct wake between Rob and Amber of that it was like they were talked about as, you know, maybe hey, we gotta watch out for them. Didn't you see what Robin Amber just did? They could be the next Robin Amber.
Starting point is 00:13:17 They could be... Seriously. They could be the next Robin Amber. There was, this is. is not on topic for what our conversation's about, but Kim Mullen went to something, like some viewing party or something within the last year. And I said, like, she is a bigger get to me
Starting point is 00:13:34 than, like, anybody from the new era. Like, I have more to talk about with Kim Mullen than any of the 150 people that did the new era. Just because I love Survivor Palat. Any person, so that there's more to talk with Kim Mullen than Rizgod. For it. Infinitely so, to me personally.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Not to you, listener. But to me, yes. I'm Kim Mullen and you see me and I'm at the viewing party. And what do you want to say to me? Yeah. I mean, this is the showman's podcast. So let's role play makes sense. I guess I would say, hey, Kim Mullen.
Starting point is 00:14:09 I did a television show that you were on. Oh, okay. Yeah. Did you have fun? In a way, I guess not fully, but in a way that it would be hard to describe now. How was the Oolong tribe for you? Tell me about every, like, I want to hear about the pre-jury trip. I want to hear about, like, the stuff that we didn't see.
Starting point is 00:14:31 You know, what do you remember? Oh, my God. It was such, it was a hot mess. It was horrible. Oh, my God. Are you sitting down? Yeah. Maybe, where's Riz God?
Starting point is 00:14:41 Riz God maybe would be able to help the conversation. He came in and did his whole thing. Vee, wing man. Yeah. She's tired of talking about Jeff Wilson after 20 years. I bet she hasn't talked about I bet she hasn't meant me She hasn't talked about him in
Starting point is 00:14:56 She's thrilled if anybody recognizes her Yeah Are me and Omar The only people that would want to talk about Jeff Wilson with her Yeah But I guess this is This is nothing
Starting point is 00:15:06 But it is does come up When you Google Survivor Showmants So it does have to be included So yeah I think it definitely was part of the story But it was a pre-merge showmance So neither of them Really got a chance to get going
Starting point is 00:15:20 and he stepped on a coconut, right? And then he was injured. Remind me, and he was injured, and they voted her out instead of him, even though he was injured? No, he is, canonically, he is the third boot, and she is the fourth boot. So he does go for,
Starting point is 00:15:38 he's one of the rare occurrences where there's a showman. Did he fall in his sword? Did he say vote me out instead of Kim? Was it like a shil-er thing? I do believe he came up in the comments of last week, the aforementioned comments of last week, because he did ask to be voted out a la Sean Edwards and said, I'd like to just, if you guys vote me out, vote me out.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Which in a world where he doesn't roll his ankle, he probably doesn't leave in that spot. He probably, he could be one of the, it could be with Stephanie at the end. To me, I think this is meh. This was. So that's interesting. Yes, why?
Starting point is 00:16:10 You feel like it's, it's better than meh? No, is it nothing? Is it, is it nothing at all? Or is it men? It was at least they were sort of like drifting off of Robin Amber's heat from they had just played on Survivor All-Stars. This was Survivor 10, so it's only one year later. It's like, uh-oh, here we go. Another Survivor's Showmance.
Starting point is 00:16:35 So I think that maybe if it came later in Survivor's Run, you wouldn't even think of it. But because it was the first showmance after Robin Amber, I think it gets a little bit of a bump. Sure. And I guess, without spoiling who's coming afterward, we are going to run into people that are a true no-mance. So because this was talked about as a showmance, maybe it is in fact, me. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:58 So, I mean, I won't die on this hill if you want to put this as a nomance as opposed to a meh. I'm looking at some pretty severe nomances down in this list. So maybe this is a late me. And then if we find that there's only one or two nomances, we'll switch it around. We have the power to change. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:19 All right. Which is beautiful about what we're doing here. I got another is Palau for you. Yes. There were two in Palau? Give me Greg with two G's and Jen Lyon. Final answer. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:34 Well, this is a nice one. Nice. They were to, again, I don't remember how much romance there was here. how much it was a part of the show, but they were certainly treated like a duo. Yes, very much so, especially in the back half. I believe they went on the family reward together if my, if my, I think Katie's also there.
Starting point is 00:17:59 I think it was the final six that they go on. They're on a big boat on the family reward. But yeah, Greg goes out in sixth place and the Jen is, of course, fourth place. And this is, you know, no bad things to say about it. A nice one. Yeah, okay. I don't think this is the second best, but I think it goes,
Starting point is 00:18:17 it was cute. I think it's the definition of survivor cute. Yeah. Cute. I don't think it really became anything after the show. Nope. We'll keep it there. We'll keep it acute.
Starting point is 00:18:31 It might be low cute. We might have some ones that are a little bit cuter, but it's a cute. It's not me. Yeah. It wasn't such a big part of the story. Nope. Let me, can I give you one that was a big part of the story?
Starting point is 00:18:45 Yeah. Our next one. Well, here's a half point for... We're going to talk about Candice with Adam, Gentry. But should Candice and Billy have been on this list? I don't know if that was canonically treated like a romance in the show, but... Candice and Adam. I've met too many Candice's now.
Starting point is 00:19:13 How do you spell Candice Woodcock, Cody? her first name. I believe she's C-A-N-D-I-C-E. C-A-N-D-I-C-E. Okay. Like dice. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I was spelling like Candice Dillard Bassett.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Sure. Or Jerry Sims spelled Candice as CanDance on Survivor Token Cheans. And I know that from the other week. Candice and Adam. They, uh, now this is the first, I believe, out of the people that we've talked about, the first kiss on, on Survivor. Yeah. So this is actually interesting, and this did not last.
Starting point is 00:19:51 And then Candace is probably more known for that she comes back with her eventual husband, John Cody, and they play them, Bloods, Blood versus Water. And that's a really nice story, the two of them. But here she is. Yeah. I like him a lot better than I like Adam Gentry. Okay. I like John Cody.
Starting point is 00:20:11 I think a lot of them. Yeah. We didn't mention the actual couples from Blood, versus water here. No, they're not in this. Yeah. Like they have a good thing, though. Aren't put on the best showmances list.
Starting point is 00:20:27 John and Jacqueline. Julie McGee and John Rocker. Right. And it's great for everybody else because they would have been the second best. But we can't, if we include one, we have to include them all. We're not going to do that. But Candace and John.
Starting point is 00:20:40 This is an interesting one because they meet on the show. They end up starting this relationship. Candace mutinies to be on the trip. tribe with him. And it really is treated like a, like a real romance on the show culminating in then when she gets voted out that they kiss, right? It's a long kiss. A long kiss.
Starting point is 00:21:04 It's a couple second long kiss. And then also what people forget is Candace is, I think, eighth place on Survivor Cook Islands, which is what, around day 30, 32. that's a, that's a kiss with no toothpaste, toothbrush, anything, 32 days in. You don't know that they would go on a reward or something. You know, you're right to call that out. I don't know that.
Starting point is 00:21:26 You know that. But in our best case scenario, they're going in that. They're raw dog in that kiss, you know, with a lot of coconut and rice. Mm-hmm. If you don't brush your teeth, that's a raw dog kiss. Well, I don't know of any of these couples raw dog in the true sense of the word, but this is this is this. We should talk about this.
Starting point is 00:21:46 I don't think we're the closest we're going to get. Yeah. And we'll call it that for now. Sure. Yeah, this is pretty good. It's really nobody's favorite showmance. I think it's sort of not remembered fondly. No.
Starting point is 00:22:05 And why is that, do you think? I don't know. I think that people want to, like, remember. It's almost like that we know. that Candice ends up marrying John Cody and we're being good friends and we're not talking about her ex, you know?
Starting point is 00:22:23 Like we're cutting out of the pictures that we're posting. You never want to bring up your friend's ex in front of your friends. He's propped out of the pictures we're putting in the collage. Yeah, yeah. They don't ever, it never comes up.
Starting point is 00:22:37 That's interesting. I think that although we don't talk about them and they're not anybody's favorite, I do think they're probably cute, Not Hot just because they did kiss, right? They're not mad. Like, they kissed. I mean, are they better than Greg and Colleen?
Starting point is 00:22:54 I think they have... Greg, Kathleen, are more iconic. Yeah. But this was actually, like, they kissed. Yeah. I'm going to move Greg and Colleen down to cute, not hot. Okay. And then we're putting...
Starting point is 00:23:05 Let's go back. Adam and Candace and their kiss are second best. Wow. Yeah. Somebody tell Adam. Somebody. message him on Facebook. He's hanging out a lot on Facebook.
Starting point is 00:23:18 In Survivor history. I bet you he'd answer it if we did. Yeah, and you know what? If you're listening on the audio, we have the picture of them kissing right here. What do you think it was like for Billy to learn about this after the fact? Do you think that hurt Billy? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:23:39 I bet he laughed it off. I bet you he laughed it off. He's a good sport. One of the best sports. I love him dearly. Every time I see him, we get, we have the,
Starting point is 00:23:50 we have a great conversation. I do what we did with Kim Mullet just a second ago. We put this on the map. Nobody knew who she was in episode two. Nobody knew who, no, that's true. That's a three-time player.
Starting point is 00:24:03 It's, it's a plot armor. And yet, is Candice a three-time player without Billy? I think so. You decide, commenters.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Yeah. You, that's your plate. That's not our plate. We didn't say it. Yeah. I agree. agree. Now let's see who, okay, we got a good one for our next couple.
Starting point is 00:24:23 Ori and Jelly, this is what you have to compete with. Yeah, yeah. Actually, it's quite a low bar. I mean, if Ori and Jelly could just, if they just kissed in the next episode, they'd be in the conversation for the second best showman's in Survivor history. Yeah, they clear 10 couples that we've curated for you today if they kiss one time. Even if they get close, to be honest. If they look like they're going to, they beat, I think, eight couples.
Starting point is 00:24:50 I mean, like, if they hug for more than two seconds, like, I think they're in the conversation. Sure. Just putting it out there for future Survivor players. Like, if you're watching this and you're like, hey, I'm in the mix for Survivor 53. Just putting it out there. Like, this is a low bar to clear. Yeah, message us and tell us you'll do it. And then we'll redo this.
Starting point is 00:25:10 Right. Like, I think that if you kind of, like, had a, yeah, like, even like a lingering hug, consensual, it, you'd be in the Mount Rushmore. Yeah. And I also will say to all you survivor applicants out there, I watch a lot of survivor videos. Nobody is saying flat out, like, I'd like a boyfriend or I'd like a girlfriend. I think you should try that, make your whole video about, like, I'm just looking for, for love.
Starting point is 00:25:43 They like stuff they haven't heard before. That could work. Yeah. We don't have that. They ask them that before they go into Big Brother. They almost never ask them that, like, about it. Like, hey, are you looking for a showman's? Yeah, some people get cast on Big Brother because they want that.
Starting point is 00:25:57 That's the only reason they're there. The most of them have never, they haven't seen the show they're doing. I'm trying to think of an example. Was Clay Honeycutt, was Clay Honeycutt a fan of Big Brother before that? he's like my showman's guy that I think about Shelley Remember Clay Honeycutt? Yeah
Starting point is 00:26:17 Are they in the top 20? We've been top 20 Big Brother showmances? Can we do that? Let's do that podcast. That'd be Oterra or no, sure. They might have just missed the top 20. They might be 22 or 22. It might be just on the outside.
Starting point is 00:26:30 All right, well, let me give you another couple. Here is Mikey B and Mary from the first two episodes of Survivor, Micron, Yeah, what, I mean, I have no recollection of this is, uh, Mikey B. I think Mary ended up getting voted out because of this instead of Mikey B. So, uh, was this no-mance? Was it meh? This is no-man's. This is, this is, this is, this is, I think, less than nothing. Um, but it is in articles about Survivor's Romance's. She dated, after the show is over, she dated Rhino from Survivor of Pearl Islands.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Yes. I think that's even canonically in the finale. Is it? Of this? Of Micronesia? I feel like that we like cut to Rhino in the audience. Yeah, that's interesting. Could be a future dream. I think that's accurate. Should we do this podcast with like non-screen couples? If this podcast, if this does 100,000 views on YouTube, we'll do the off-camera, best off-camera.
Starting point is 00:27:38 best off-camera relationships. And can I tell you, there's ones that nobody even knows about that we could say. We could make stuff happen here. Could we do a video called the best off-screen survivor relationships that nobody knows about? Yeah, Patreon. I think we clear a lot of Patreon subscribers that day. Okay, that one's on Patreon. I know a couple of good ones.
Starting point is 00:28:04 I know a couple good ones. Yeah. Okay. All right. So would you make this nomads? This is nothing. No, man. But I thought the picture was interesting.
Starting point is 00:28:14 If you're listening on audio, Mikey B is, I guess, picking what looks to be like lice out of Mary's hair. It's probably not lice, but a lice-like thing. Could be right. They had the lice test. Did they lice test you? It could be right.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Did they lice test you before Survivor? We had a lice test. I can't recall. I guess that was a while ago. If I go into Survivor with lice, it's like, who cares? Yeah, but they like, I mean, they combed through my hair.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Maybe if they only did it to me, that I guess is embarrassing. But they, they combed through my hair for lice. Like, am I going to get medevac for lice? If I quit Survivor due to a lice infestation, is that BS? Am I worse than Colton? Rob is bald. But I guess if you're going on season 53 and you want out, fake lice, I think that would be my suggestion. Throw some, throw some lice in there.
Starting point is 00:29:08 All right. here's an actual contender that we're going to have to rank somewhere also from Survivor Micronesia Amanda Kimmel and Ozzie okay are we putting that Amanda and Ozzy this is fun right
Starting point is 00:29:23 let's talk about it and so Amanda and Ozzy they got together and it was kind of like in the favorites tribe there was like a little thing of like okay Parvety was going to flirt
Starting point is 00:29:39 with James and then Amanda was going to flirt with Ozzy, but it got it got hot and heavy. Surrey talked about that there was going to be Oslets. They were going to be Oslets, which used to be what they would call the listeners of Survivor Oz, but that podcast is no longer, and that's a joke for about 10 people that are listening to this. But you know what? What I'll say about this showman's is it's a contender for second best as it has stood the test of time that people are still talking about it. That's a good sign of a showmance.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Yes. And so Amanda, she didn't like it, that Ozzy went to Exile Island with Alexis. Alexis Jones. Yes. Yes. She didn't like that. And then they didn't tell Amanda about the plan to blindside Ozzy
Starting point is 00:30:29 because they thought that maybe Amanda would tell Ozzy. And then Ozzy gave like a real indignant speech to everybody and professed his love to a man at the final drama council. It's romantic. It's the only time it's ever happened, I think, in 50 seasons of Survivor. Is that right?
Starting point is 00:30:46 You proclaim your love at the end? Is he the only one? To a person in the final two? Yeah. Hmm. David Murphy does that for Boston Rob in a way, but not in a way that is romantic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Yeah, I don't know if somebody made it to the end and the other person is like really... Because sometimes you say, like, oh, vote this person out. They have somebody on the jury that really... likes them. So, yeah, I can't think of another time. But yet, this is actually pretty good. Is it better than Candace and Adam? Did they kiss? I think that they may have like night vision kissed. I think they night vision kiss. I do think this is much better than Candace and Adam. Only for like the legacy that it has left.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Really most recently culminating in people were wondering if Amanda would go to season 50, which allegedly she was called for. and allegedly the reason she wouldn't go is is because of a former show. Yeah, but I would say I think that that's very allegedly, allegedly, allegedly, and I'd say that has not been confirmed, I think, in any meaningful way. It's not confirmed, but I do think we are still talking about it.
Starting point is 00:31:53 So I do think even if it's not true, it is something that we're saying. It is a popular internet theory. I would put it as that. Sure. But listen, Candace and Adam don't have any popular. internet theories at this moment. No. No.
Starting point is 00:32:09 So I would say, yeah, let's put them at the top of the heap. This is Survivor's Showman. Yeah. And they're not still together, right? They're like Greg and Colleen. They've been together secretly for
Starting point is 00:32:22 20 years. Secretly. Okay. Ozzie and Amanda, number one, second best showmance and Survivor history. How about that? I think it's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Maybe this is what gets Amanda out of retirement if she hears about the award that we're giving. Are we giving an award? Are we going to give... For the second best showman, this is by her history? Yeah. Do we give the winner something? The silver heart, I think we give them. Silver heart. Sure. And what is...
Starting point is 00:32:50 Is that like a paperweight? Like how do we... How is that given to them? Like a pin. It's like a pendant. Yeah. Yeah. I bet you we can find that on email or something. We'll put a pin. Put a pit. How about? Now, this is a different one. It's going to get a little weird because of the circumstances in which it was birth.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Okay. Getting a little nervous. How about Keith and Whitney from Survivors? Okay. All right. So Keith and Whitney. And so this one is interesting because it is, it is not so much canonically on screen
Starting point is 00:33:37 but it gets started on screen and it continues off screen yes most of it's done off screen and then on screen again during their run on the 25th season of the amazing race also and all couples that are good do the amazing race
Starting point is 00:33:56 if you're in a good standing couple you should do the amazing race because that separates who's a couple and who's not a couple a lot of people break up after that. And they're still together. Are you talking about Survivor showmances or any couple should go on the amazing race?
Starting point is 00:34:10 Any couple. If you're listening to this and you're a couple and you want to put your relationships with that, I think it's the amazing race. Every couple. Every couple. But I guess you don't, if you're thinking about it and you're like, I don't think we do good on that, then I don't know. Don't read into it. But maybe
Starting point is 00:34:25 every couple should do the Amazing Race. Keith and Whitney did and they're better than ever now, I imagine. I think they're still going strong I think that that is a thing Are they Were they the greatest showmance I don't think enough happened on screen
Starting point is 00:34:45 Even though this is a couple that has stood the test of time Yeah one of the rare ones that have stood the test of time And like was their time on screen fun to watch I think I think no No if anything I think the showmance in Survivor South Pacific that I think was actually like a little bit more on the screen was Ozzy and Elise. Elise Umemoto, yes.
Starting point is 00:35:12 They're not, I didn't pronounce that. I would call her, uh, Yamamoto. Well, no. I don't know why I remember that's what her last name is, but that's why, um, that's why they have me in charge of the tier list. Um, yeah, but she's not in this. Ozzy's not, but Ozzy can't be on here twice, no? That makes it, then we can't rank Ozzie a second best if he's on here.
Starting point is 00:35:32 here twice. Has Ozzy had multiple showmances? I mean, I think he has. He has. Some off-screen, too. Interesting. Some of which is going to be in that podcast that we do one day. I was teeing you up for the promo.
Starting point is 00:35:49 I think this is, I think this is meh, and I think it's above Kim and Jeff. Yeah. Okay, here. Let's go back to the screen. And yeah, and I think that mostly penalized for it being off screen and for no other reasons. Yeah, I can't think of any reasons why
Starting point is 00:36:08 we would be fully endorsing it, but they're happy now, and I think this is a promo for The Amazing Race, if nothing else. You should go on The Amazing Race. Yeah. Okay. Now, here's a couple that's next that I think are a contender for one of the top spots, and that's Figgie and Taylor from Millennials v. GenX. Now, this did not stand the test of time, but was very much on the show.
Starting point is 00:36:41 I think that really we saw basically all of it where I think that this is one of these situations where, because she goes out pre-merge, he goes out post-merge, I don't think that there was really any part of this that happened off-screen. So we kind of got the everything. And this felt to me as a fan of the television show in the year 2016, like, hey, we're so back. We have a showmance. This is like, this hasn't happened in forever. Like, this is neat. I think this is very high on this list, if not in the second best spot.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Yeah, Jeff offered to have their wedding ceremony. I can't believe they didn't want to do that. Why do you think they didn't want to do that after? Jeff vowed, you know, he was offering to officiate it. Now, is that binding in Survivor? Now, this was the old era. This was probably like day 18 or something like that where Jeff is offering, were they going to do it on the spot?
Starting point is 00:37:48 And is that binding that Jeff Probst marries you in Fiji? I bet you it's not binding, but I also think that. Then why not do it? I mean, if he's ordained by like the Universal Life Church, then I think it may, maybe it is binding. I don't think so. He offered to marry Robin Amber on a stage that you were on and they said no. He offered to do that in the All-Stars Reunion show. Has anybody been rejected of a public marriage?
Starting point is 00:38:19 Like as the performer more than once? Is it just Jeff on, does he have the record on network TV? It could be the record. It would be, I mean, he didn't offer to a couple that's coming up that I could have seen a world where he offered it to. Will it ever happen again on Survivor? Do you think that Jeff will offer to marry somebody? I think so. I would bet yes on this.
Starting point is 00:38:40 But Figgie and Taylor, they were a big deal that they were talked about. They meet all of the criteria. Did they have an on-screen kiss? I would presume. They, I believe, had an on-screen kiss. I would bet that they did. Okay. I'm unsure why they, I can't remember the exact.
Starting point is 00:39:04 frame of it, but I believe that they did kiss. And then you also have, like, the thing that I remember the most from this is Michaela's very funny confessional about them together, which I think like, it adds to the queens of the showman. She said that people, like, your breath is nasty? Is that what?
Starting point is 00:39:20 Your breath is nasty? Those were the vibes. Yes. And this was, I think, like, day six or so. This was in like the second episode, I believe. Yeah. I think that's really good. I think this is the second best showmance in the history of survival of this point. Yeah, I'm looking at my
Starting point is 00:39:34 soundboard for Millennials versus Genet. Love goggles. Yeah, love goggles. I don't have any, but they did. They sure did. Are you, if you're wearing the love goggles. In the middle of the night, I hear a kiss sound, and I was like, y'all can't be for real.
Starting point is 00:39:54 You stink, your mouth is nasty. You got sand in your drawers, and you kissing somebody. That's disgusting. That's disgusting. It is disgusting. Yeah. It is.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Sand in your drawers. Is that a red flag? She's a like, you know what? I can't kiss you. I have sand in my drawers right now. Yeah, I guess. Have I ever kissed anybody with sand in my drawers? I think, I think no.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Have you? Have you been to the beach? I suspect I have. Yeah, I mean, I've kissed on the beach. But how much sand is in my drawers? You know what I mean? I don't know. Depends.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Yeah, I'm not getting buried. You get buried? I'm not getting buried. You ever get buried and then someone kisses you? That's very romantic. Is that what Figy and Taylor did? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:53 We'll talk about that on that other podcast. Apparently. Who was that? Is that Ken? Ken. That was Ken. He was there when she got a voted out. So you was.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Take me through the people we have on this tier list right now. So in the second best spot right now, we have Amanda and Ozzy. And then we have. Let's work our way up. Okay, better than Jeff and Kim. Are they better than Greg and Jen? I think so in terms of an on-screen showmance. Then what's this next one? Better than Colleen and Greg, certainly. Oh, that's Colleen and Greg.
Starting point is 00:41:32 Better than Adam and Cam. Certainly better than... You, they kissed. They kissed on screen. Adam and Candice, that was the whole thing that we said they kissed. But I think the Adam and Candace, here's, in my mind,
Starting point is 00:41:49 the second best showman's, this is a plot point in the show. And I think they have the things from both Amanda and Ozzie where it's a plot point and Adam and Candice where they kissed. I think this is the top spot. I think we're bumping Adam down.
Starting point is 00:42:02 I'm sorry. I would say I think that they're behind us. Adam and Candice. I think the Adam and Candice went through like they kissed and left on it. It's like day 30-ish, like day 20s, 8.
Starting point is 00:42:15 But there was no lore. There was no buildup. There was no like tension. You get five episodes of like a court of Thorne and Roses with Figgy and Taylor. Right? I don't have the other way.
Starting point is 00:42:30 I won't. You feel stronger about it than I do. I think I would still have Adam and Candid. this higher, but you could put Figy and Taylor ahead of them. But you think we're not dethroning Amanda and Ozzy? You think that's crazy? I think that's a little bit, a little bit.
Starting point is 00:42:45 I think that they, that I'm fine with them as the third best showman in Survivor history. Oh. I think, I think, I think they're better than Adam, Candace. I think, I feel good about this. Well, yeah. Oh, third best. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:01 I'm thinking fourth, sure. Agreed. Robin Amber. I feel great about Amanda and Ozzie, Figgie and Taylor. But I think I would still have it, Adam and Candace, but it's, I, but not enough so that I would push for it. Sure, sure. I like it. I think it's great.
Starting point is 00:43:16 I always really like Taylor's shirt. Yeah, it's a good shirt. I think he's got a great shirt. How about, we talk about, from season 35, give me Jessica Johnston and Cole Meadors. Okay. Jessica and Cole. and they were both healers. They were.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Do you want your partner to be a hero, healer, or hustler? When you're on the dating scene, what are you looking for? Not a hustler. I'll tell you that right now. Yeah, I guess you don't want a hustler. But do you want a hero? I need a hero. I'm holding on for a hero.
Starting point is 00:43:54 I need a zivo, they say, on TV now. Is a zivo with a drug, or is it a zivo? You want a singular zivo? It's not a drug. I think it kills, like, flies in your house. Oh, I thought I was thinking, they have the Wagovi song
Starting point is 00:44:09 that's from the greatest showman. That's what I was thinking. Azevo. I need a Zivo. Yeah. Hey, we'll send the winning couple of Zivo for their house.
Starting point is 00:44:18 I could use the Zivo when I was on Survivor. Yeah, you get a lot of box. Plug it in next to the fridge in the jungle. Did the fridge have a plug? I'm sure it was plugged into something. It wasn't just like,
Starting point is 00:44:33 Yeah, I guess it wasn't just like a block of ice in there. That's true, right? I asked for, when they asked me for my Survivor luxury item, I asked for a DVD player. I thought that would be funny. They didn't like it, but I put that on the form. But I guess that you don't have an outlet there. Zivo is more for indoor insects. Yeah, you played in the only Survivor season with a very close outlet.
Starting point is 00:44:54 Has anybody brought that up? No. No. Jessica and Cole, I'm trying to think of if there was a great moment here. Not so much. I think they were trying to hide it, but they couldn't do a good job of hiding it. I don't remember a single thing about this partnership. No. I remember a lot more about the partnerships that come later and the ones that have come before.
Starting point is 00:45:26 I remember very little about this. Yeah. So, yeah, they were on a tribe with Dr. Mike. I'm sure he was excited about this. Yeah, you think you're making a lot of jokes? Probably. Who else is on that tribe? Dessie and then who's the other person?
Starting point is 00:45:45 And then Jomeana. Classically, a healer. Yeah, we were very vague with that back in the day. So I don't know, I think that this is, I think it made, be too mean to say it's no manse, but I think it's pretty meh. I think it's ma'am. I think it's the best meh. How meh? Who else is in meh? Keith and Whitney, Jeff and Kim.
Starting point is 00:46:13 So I would say that this actually, I think that they actually were showmatic on the show. Did they have an on-screen kiss? I don't think so. I don't think they did. But I feel like that they were at least close. I feel like it was more of an on-screen kiss. screen story. Keith and Whitney have longevity, but I feel like we have to try to not
Starting point is 00:46:35 keep in mind what happened after the show. I agree, but even with that rubric, I think they are probably less than Keith and Whitney. But are they forgettable? I think so. Yeah. Yeah. No, I think they definitely are forgettable. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:46:53 I believe Cole had a run on on Bachelor and Paradise. Bachelor. Yeah, Bachelor in Paradise Canada, which is the show everybody's trying to get on these things. Nice guy, Cole, by the way. Oh, my God, the nice guy. He was at your birthday party. Remember your birthday party? Yes. Yes, from eight years ago. Will he be there tomorrow for your birthday tomorrow? I don't know when this is coming. I'd be surprised. Would be crazy. He would have been a good person to get like a birthday cameo from, but I didn't think of that.
Starting point is 00:47:25 All right, let's see. Okay. Can I give you my. season 36 couple. Yeah, I was going to see if I could find my H-H-H-H soundboard, but I feel like that maybe that's lost to history. Sorry to say. But that's okay, right? You weren't looking for that
Starting point is 00:47:43 for any other reason. You know what? I think actually, and I think that I have one giant, okay, the survivor soundboard, and I think I have one call metters.
Starting point is 00:47:58 How did you do, do, do, do, you do, do you do that? Yeah, he like glitched out before he like fell down. Oh, he did. Remember he fell down? Mm-hmm. Yeah. He fell down like near the fire. Does she give him mouth to mouth to bring him back? Yeah, does that count for this? Yeah. Yes. If you're on Survivor 53, give mouth to mouth if you're, if somebody needs it.
Starting point is 00:48:22 Not if somebody doesn't. I do think you probably, if you gave somebody mouth to mouth non-consensual, I think that you would be pulled from the show. I think that is. Maybe not in Survivor 38, but I think now. Yeah, now there's been some changes. And rightfully so. Yeah, and rightfully so. Yeah, don't do that.
Starting point is 00:48:44 Really don't do that. Don't do, do, do, do that. How about from Survivor, Ghost Island? Give me Jenna and Seabass. Okay. Now, this wasn't showmance. Right. They dated for a long time.
Starting point is 00:48:58 Yeah. And then, but it was in the show. Is that correct? In my recollection, they are flirty on the show, but it is never established we are into each other. Yeah. But they do date for a long time afterward. They do date. And this is, I think, Survivor's least memorable Jenna. I think that we can say that this week. I think that wedding photographer Jenna, I think will be better remembered than, Jenna and Seabass, right? I think that's probably true.
Starting point is 00:49:33 I think also Jenna goes out in a spot where I think they often be unmemorables piece out, which is like your ninth, eighth, seventh spot is often. Well, I could tell you that she was, it was a double boot. It was like the, I think the first time they ever did the split tribal council post-merge. So I think that this was at the final 10. They did two tribal councils. and she actually went out in like the more forgettable tribal council. And then there was a second tribal council where like all of the main characters were in it.
Starting point is 00:50:08 It was in the second tribal council that Dom, Wendell, Kellyn, Laurel, and Michael Juerger went to a tribal council. And then there was a tribal council that was like, Jonathan, Jenna, Seabass, Angela, and some other person Dominion C-Math Who's the other person? Chelsea There was Chelsea?
Starting point is 00:50:36 Purple Chelsea? She was the EMT. I was going to say Desiree, but maybe she's gone by that. I think Desiree is booted in the big tribal council right before that, I think. Got it.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Okay. That being said, yeah, this is meh. How mad is it? Is it no man? No, because, but they dated. Is it the bottom of me? It's, I think it's the bottom of me.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Is it more mad than Jeff and Kim Mullen? Probably, right, because they, that was two episodes. Well, this was really not, this was two episodes of them. Is it the bottom of me? Now, Sebastian, he did a season of the challenge, right? Also, like he was on this challenge USA too. right? I believe he did a
Starting point is 00:51:30 canonical challenge also but I could be wrong. Maybe. I think this is the bottom of meh. I agree. Okay. Shout out to Gabby Paskuzzi. Shout out to Gabby Piscuzzi.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Okay. Who gave me men, not for any other reason. Brandon, let's talk about the next one. Speaking of Gabby Paskuzzi, two people that she was not on a tribe with at the start.
Starting point is 00:51:56 Give me Dan Rangering and Kara Kay. Dan and Kara. Now, the irony here is that Kara does end up in a post-showmance with somebody from the season, but not on screen. Not on screen. Fuck it. That's what they said when they posted that picture. You know what's really nice not to talk about that while we're talking about Dan and Kara, but when you were going on the traders, I talked to Alec Marlino about.
Starting point is 00:52:25 Yes. Angelina and Mike White. And I never brought that up, like the posting of the picture, whatever. And he was very, after we stopped recording, he was very appreciative. He said, you know what, every time I talk about Survivor, somebody brings that up. I'm glad we didn't talk about it. I brought it up recently because I thought that maybe his head was exploding somewhere as like these 51 players are doing like TikTok sketches with each other.
Starting point is 00:52:50 And the kids call them sketches. Am I an old man? They said sketches. Is it a sketch? if you lip sing on TikTok? I don't think it's a sketch. But I don't think a lot of them are doing like bits.
Starting point is 00:53:02 It's, is it a bit? Like, yeah, dance isn't a sketch, but like if I'm like, going to, like if I'm ory and somebody's bringing me lasagna,
Starting point is 00:53:13 is that a sketch? Oh, that's a sketch. Yeah, that's a skit. But what would they call it? It's like a... Content?
Starting point is 00:53:20 I think that's a sketch. Mm-hmm. I think now the general term is they were making content. But you all, you can make a lip sync or you can make... It sounds very professional. We are making content. Yeah, I mean, some people, they hang out just for the sole purpose of making content.
Starting point is 00:53:35 So, all right, Dan and Kara, that he had a thing for his dog was named Kara, right? Yes, after Superman? Yes. But then this was, like, one of the weirdest ones, because there actually was like a on-screen breakup also. Like, there was a showmance. and I think she dumped him during the show. Yeah, it's low-key giving Billy a little bit. There was an unrequited love for a little bit.
Starting point is 00:54:05 He was hot cop, Dan, and then ultimately, but then she was like, I'm over it. You're dumped. Yeah. And then afterwards, she did move on to a different showmancy. He's, I believe, the third member of the jury, and I think she gets fourth place. Yeah. But for two or three episodes, This burned hot and heavy, I think.
Starting point is 00:54:27 It burned hot and heavy, but burnt out. I think this is no manse. I mean, that they broke up before the show was even over. Yeah, no kiss. Now in the new era, they make it all the way to the end and they're married. But the game was long enough that people would fall in love and then break up before the end of the season. Yeah. We almost saw a John and Jacqueline break up.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Is this, but this is better than Mary and Mikey B? Or no, because they broke up. this was they had something they had some yeah mary and mike me just kind of they were like the alternates and they snuck on the cast somehow it's like two people got caught yeah um they got into the last minute so all right sure i'll put them at the top of no manse i like that i think that that that that fits for them i think okay um well no manse we may do one more time um season 39 uh oh For a couple episodes, it was a very good season of Survivor. For the first, like, five or six weeks, we were all locked in. Yeah. And there was a showmance? One could call it that between one, D.K. Chillen, Dean Kowalski, and South Jersey native, Chelsea Walker.
Starting point is 00:55:42 Okay. And did they ask you to be in this? I think they would, if I asked them, they'd ask me to not be in this. But again, I live and die by the screen rant article of all the Survivor Showmances. that I read in prep for this. Yeah, and that article was written the day after they got voted out. It stayed in October 2019
Starting point is 00:56:05 for some reason. Yeah, this is a... Is it a showman's... No, did they flirt? I think also maybe not. Did people think they flirted? Yes. Right.
Starting point is 00:56:17 I feel like that was this so much that they were an item or something that like Missy said they were? and that was it, and then she kind of got unlucky. Was there a swap screw here? I don't remember, but... I don't think there's a swap screw. No, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:56:38 An organic... And Chelsea Walker, you know, is doing great now, I'm sure. Sure. I'm, you know, I don't know. But it's a tragic survivor story because she applied for so many years and then got cut for being in a showman's that she wasn't really in.
Starting point is 00:56:52 So is this the last... Is this behind Mikey B and Mary? at least they dug through each other's hair it looks like in this picture. I feel like that this is to me as like apropos of Jenna this week where you have a like lifelong fan who finally gets on the show.
Starting point is 00:57:08 It's their dream to be there. And then sort of like, oh, you're in a showman. It's like, well, no, I'm not. It's like, you're not a wedding photographer. Like, yes, I am. Yeah. Yeah, you know what? For some super fans, it works out.
Starting point is 00:57:19 And for some, it doesn't. But I think Chelsea was always working in like media. I don't know what she's doing now, but she's, I'm sure she's crushing it. She was like hosting for a long. This is a nomads. I think that it's kind of unfair to them to be the bottom of a tier list that they did not want to be in. So I think that maybe they're ahead of that they didn't ask to be on this list that were just like punching down to put them on here and put them last on the list.
Starting point is 00:57:44 So we can also not put them on the list. We can just not put them off. Is there a tier like that like they came in and they sat down in the classroom and they like you're not? is supposed to be in this class. Yeah. She doesn't even go here. You don't even go here. Like,
Starting point is 00:58:01 that you're in, this is room 243. You're supposed to be in room 143. Missy contacted me right before this and said, make sure you put them on this list. I know I was right. No, we're not even going to put them on the list.
Starting point is 00:58:14 I like that better. Yeah. Let's void it. It's like they're getting like dunked on and it's like, we didn't even say we're not even a showmance. We're not even there. And listen, take it up with the guy who wrote that screen.
Starting point is 00:58:25 I'll send it to you, Chelsea. Dean. I love D. I see Dean once a year at like a Bryson Wendell. Niceest guy. So nice. He's the world's nicest guy. And I say that about a lot of people. I think I speak in hyperbole. He may be the world's nicest guy, Dean Kowalski. I only say it about people who actually are nice. Well, yeah, me too. But I think the bar would be lower.
Starting point is 00:58:49 But I think Dean Kowalski, if you have the chance to meet Dean Kowalski, you got to do it. If this really takes off, you want to do the nicest. Survivor? Or you're only interested in the nicest guy. There's so many nice women from Survivor, but who are the actually nice guys? Can I tell you who's going to win?
Starting point is 00:59:07 I'll tell you who's going to win both of those. Do you have people that just jumped in your mind? I think women, speaking of Survivor 39, I think you get Janet Carbon. Is Janet not the nicest survivor woman? Very nice, Janet. I think Janet. And then I think maybe
Starting point is 00:59:23 is Roger Brigham the nicest Survivor? guy? Keith Nail? The nicest survivor guy? Yeah. Well, yeah, you got to, like, I guess people if they have passed, I think they, they're not eligible. Yeah, then I think I'm putting Roger up there with that. You can't rank the people that have
Starting point is 00:59:38 passed. It's arbitrary and reductive. I've always said. Right. All right, well, let's rank. We've got two couples from the new era. Couples I use extremely loosely for one, but this is a real couple. New era is tricky.
Starting point is 00:59:55 to have a showmance because in the old, first of all, you had nothing but time, 39 days, bigger tribes, so there was more of a chance to match. Here, you have basically a one in three, potentially, and
Starting point is 01:00:13 you know, the first off, there's that, look, they got all the diversity initiative, you're not even necessarily guaranteed, like, you might be in a tribe, and nobody is in like in your eligible dating pool for no matter what you are. It's interesting that you say that because I do think that the, for a long time on the CBS shows, Big Brother included,
Starting point is 01:00:40 you did not want to be in a relationship, but they didn't want to cast you if you were in a relationship. But I think the new era has brought on many young, single, attractive, I'm sorry, young, attractive people who are already betrothed. They're already in a relationship. I think on my survivor, there were three people out of the 15 of us that were not, the 18 of us that were not in a relationship. It's not just qualifying at all. And I do think that that is probably one of the things that since we've moved on from the Lynn Spillman era, like, if you had a boyfriend and a girlfriend, I think that's a big, like, strike in Lynn Spillman's book, now they don't care. Yeah. Unless you're, unless you're somebody in the MET here where they're like, you'll, you'll cheat, right? You'll find, you're okay to find a new person.
Starting point is 01:01:23 if we give you one. No, I won't bury the lead. We've got from Survivor 44. We've got Matt and Franny as our first couple here. I'm going to put them here, but not just to have their pictures on the screen. And then we'll talk through it. Matt and Franny, who have had such a nice run post show,
Starting point is 01:01:46 my question is, how much of Matt and Franny's lore was on screen? How much? Oh, I think all of it. I think they, I think the whole, their whole story is, I shouldn't say their whole story. I think they both have different things that have happened to them. But I think this is, since Robin Amber, the most and best showmats we've gone. I'll say points against.
Starting point is 01:02:17 Sure. They did not kiss on screen. Oh, it's true. So PDA. factor is low. So now, very few other couples do have that.
Starting point is 01:02:33 And that's not a prerequisite for me. Okay, don't turn that into a thing. Yeah. If you want to be a real couple, you got a kiss. But we're talking about the second best showman since I think it helps.
Starting point is 01:02:47 I do think, and we are ignoring, large in part, longevity after the television show. Sure. I do think it is hard to ignore that they have been a couple since they met their soulmates. I mean, I do think it, we're like, we shouldn't make it a primary factor, but I do think it
Starting point is 01:03:04 helps. I think it helps, like, in a way that, like, where Adam and Kansas, we're sort of like, I can't really wrap my finger around them. But we know it's not going to work out with Adam and Candace. Yeah. I think out of Robin Amber, who on this list has met their, their soulmate, I think all but all but one couple. When you say all but one couple, what does that mean? I think that, I'm sorry, just one, one singular couple is Matt and Franie. What about Keith are winning?
Starting point is 01:03:33 We're going for this. Oh, yeah, but if you had soulmates before, does it, no, I'm kidding. Like, soulmate, you could meet your, like, yeah. Like, they say it's like, found my soulmate. Um, most people, there's, like, I see TikToks. So, like, did you know everybody has 15 soulmates?
Starting point is 01:03:52 No, I did not know that. Yeah, I, I, I, I don't know. That's the kind of content I need to see. Fifteen. Yeah, it's like, you know, some people don't even believe in a soulmate. 16 people. All soulmates. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:08 That's a great. We should find that. That is low key, The Bachelor. That's what The Bachelor is, kind of, what it used to be. Should they say that of like, hey, we found your 15 soulmates? I think that was in the, you know about, are you the one when that was on? Do you watch that? Yes.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Yes. That's like kind of what that was. It's like, hey, we found your someone. You have to find out. It's a really great, it's a shame they took it off the air. It's a great show. But Man Frannie, their story on the show was largely about their connection and finding each other. And I think that there was like a reluctance of like, hey, I am, this is the new era.
Starting point is 01:04:48 I know all the things you're supposed to do on Survivor. I can't be having a showman. there was like a tension of like, hey, it's the new era. We're not supposed to be doing this, but the heart wants what the heart wants. It does. And doesn't that make it more interesting? It's like you want what you can't have. You know, it's like, hey, we shouldn't do this.
Starting point is 01:05:11 And that's what makes it so cool to do. Yeah. So I think that to put them next to Ozzy and Amanda, that it's an interesting mirror where that Ozzie and Amanda, where that Ozzie and Amanda, that they're playing in Survivor in the teens, and there's the Robin Amber are sort of like fresh in the minds of, and it's like, hey, we shouldn't be doing this, but we have to, but we can't not do this. And but we were Matt and Frannie, it's like, hey, it's the new era.
Starting point is 01:05:44 Everybody that will be a strategic threat if we end up being a duo. And we shouldn't do this, but we want to. But we need to hide it. We need to keep it a secret. Yeah. I agree. We're not hiding anything.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Now, what about Ori and Jelly? What's the meta of why they can't do it? I'm not sure necessarily that they both want to. I think that maybe is. They don't like each other like that. I don't know. You know, and maybe it'll blossom. People are calling them Ori-Gel.
Starting point is 01:06:23 Do you know about that? Is that a product? Is that like a product? Is that like a... I think it is. I don't know what it does. Oh, it's for mouth source. Is that to affix my dentures?
Starting point is 01:06:34 No, I think so not to read the AI overview. Sorry. Origel is an over-the-counter brand of oral pain relievers and care products. Use to temporarily treat toothaches. Yeah. And for the winners of this, we'll be sending you the purple, or not the purple heart. I'm sorry, the silver heart. with a Zivo and some origin.
Starting point is 01:06:55 Yeah. So to me, if we're trying to parse between Amanda and Ozzy and Matt and Franny, I could see it either way. Let's, you know what? Could we come back to this? Could we leave it and then come back? Let's see if this next couple, which is our final couple, disrupts anything, and that's Austin and D from Survivor 45.
Starting point is 01:07:19 So this one is actually very interesting to talk about because I do think that this was like outside of Robin Amber, I do think that this was the one that was most impactful to the program. Yeah, it was actually part of a plot. Sure. It was talked about a ton. And then, you know, didn't materialize too much of anything outside of the television show, but was a huge plot point in the show.
Starting point is 01:07:50 Right. It was in the marketing collateral for the show. show. Was in the marketing, I don't know necessarily. And again, you were canonically there, not necessarily there or there, but close. Yeah. And so. I was a couple islands away.
Starting point is 01:08:07 A couple islands away. And so, first of all, I'm trying to remember if the, to the other players, was this something that they were noticing that was happening? Or was it sort of like, hey, let's keep it on the DL. now again I wasn't there but I think around like the final eight final seven is when people started to clock or maybe final I think maybe final
Starting point is 01:08:29 10 is when people started to talk about that it was happening maybe and then it does it is you know like there's the they go on the reward and Katura is there and that's a whole funny thing but it's for the television show it's
Starting point is 01:08:45 it is a good it's you know I think it's probably better than Adam and Candice right no public display of affection, though. No PDA, no. No. Maybe a handhold, but is that even count? Maybe a handhold? I'm trying to remember. I don't recall.
Starting point is 01:09:03 Yeah. The thing that I remember most is like Austin having like a daydream about like we could be Robin Amber. Yeah. I do recall that. I never had that daydream. Right. You daydreamed about Robin Amber because they were there. You had nothing else to think about them.
Starting point is 01:09:26 No, I didn't have to day dream about them. That was just my day. Yeah, I guess. Is it a daydream if you see it with your eyes when you're awake? No. Yeah, like, no, that's just your day. You're just like, you're not. And then I had many nightmairs after the fact of like, oh, I'm his back there and then, like, reliving.
Starting point is 01:09:51 but no, never a daydream. Sure. I feel like this is, and tell me if you think I'm incorrect, I would put this, is it above Taylor and Figgy? Is it the top of, do not hot? Because I think it had to do with the plot. Like, this was like, you know, Figgy is a pre-merged boot with all due respect.
Starting point is 01:10:14 Sure. Did Jessica. Did great on the Squid game, though, Figgie. And a very, very fun on Instagram. She's a great. Instagram follower. I think her name's hashtag Figgie. She's a great follower of yours or she's a great
Starting point is 01:10:27 follow? I mean, she's never done anything to be a bad follower of mine, but she is a great follow is I think what I meant to say. She posts good stuff. She's funny. All right. So, yeah, I think it's definitely better than Fagie. Let's put them on to the second best tier also. I think
Starting point is 01:10:45 it's our, we have a top three. Interesting. Okay. Wait, something must have been in the water in Survivor. 44 and 45. Yeah, although filmed a year apart, kind of, but the water, it doesn't, in 46, they lost it. Yeah. 46 doesn't have this.
Starting point is 01:11:01 I think I could make a case for all three. You can make a, I don't think I could be able to make a case for, but I guess the same, well, this is, I think, why it's Frannie and Matt. The same case for Austin and D is the same case for Amanda and Ozzie, which is that it ultimately isn't anything, but it's good for the television show. Whereas Franny and Matt, it's something on the television show and also something after, which in the spirit of Robin Amber, outwitting out, playing outlasting marriage,
Starting point is 01:11:32 it feels like they're the contender. So for Ozzie and Amanda, I think you have two iconic, all-time legendary survivor players. And the fact that these two all-time survivor icons, met up and had a showmance, which is sort of like, even like independent to their two Survivor careers. This is like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
Starting point is 01:12:03 For sure. For sure. It's like, oh, you guys, it's, you know, when you see a picture of two celebrities, you have, oh, you guys were together. Stars of Survivor, who at one point was a showmance on the show.
Starting point is 01:12:13 So more so than anything about the actual relationship they had, the star power here with Amanda and Ozzy, I think is unmatched. I fully, I fully co-sign that that is, you know. Yes. And what a world we'd be in if they were together still? Matt and Frannie.
Starting point is 01:12:33 Yeah. Yes. You know, I think that they would maybe be on par with Robin Amber. First, that's what I'm saying. They get every endorsement. Or slightly, yeah, slightly behind. Yeah, on the, think about the influencers and they would have a lot to do. Okay.
Starting point is 01:12:47 For Matt and Franny, this is the, this is the nicest story of, of the three and of the entire panel that they fall in love on Survivor. It's a feel-good story. They find each other. It ends up being a big part of the plot of the show that them hiding the relationship, but they can't really.
Starting point is 01:13:09 Ultimately, Matt gets voted out when they're separated. And part of which, the reason why, is because of, like, his connectedness to Frannie. but they end up sticking it out. They're still together. This is a nice story. It's a beautiful story. One of the best.
Starting point is 01:13:29 They'd write movies about it. Yeah. And then Austin and Dee, this is kind of a story about where that it's like a mirror universe, Rob and Amber, where a little bit more it ends up being, where Dee is kind of of Boston Rob,
Starting point is 01:13:49 and, and Austin is a little bit more of the amber here, and Austin is a little bit more romantic about it, but then D ultimately wants the win, maybe more than the relationship, throws Austin under the bus, kind of uses this. So in terms of it being a great showmance, I guess that this also,
Starting point is 01:14:14 it's not an on-screen breakup, but I think it kind of is by the end of the, of the season. By the end of the final tribal council, it feels like that maybe there was a breakup. Sure. Sure. I do not think that either Amanda and Ozzy or Austin and D left with anything crystallized. Yeah, but I feel like that when Dee throws Austin under the bus at the final tribal council, to me, I feel like that that is sort of like the cold water that is thrown on this, on this relationship, where Ozzie, like, pseudo proposes to him. Amanda in the final travel. He does.
Starting point is 01:14:54 It's two extremes. It's the two things you shouldn't do probably to your part. Yes. So I think on that note, I think I'm going to disqualify D and Austin. I'm not sure if they're on the top of a cute not hot. Let's do that. That feels right.
Starting point is 01:15:11 So now. You have Amanda. And so I think that really just in terms like a, and I know what you want to do. For me, I feel like that I am drawn to the gravitational pull of the star power
Starting point is 01:15:31 of Amanda and Ozzy. But I think that for Matt and Franny, I think that the story is the showmance, where that one plus one equals three, as opposed to the case of Ozzy and Amanda, where you had two survivor supernovas who shared an experience together for 22 days. Sure. And their impact has felt nearly 20 years later.
Starting point is 01:16:12 We're still talking about it. But we're also still talking about Matt and Frannie because they're together. Right. So I wonder if Matt and Franny is better... Survivor Showmance. Because I feel like, in a way, to be the second best Survivor Showmanth, and they're like, did they date after the show?
Starting point is 01:16:34 Well, not really. Or maybe for a little bit, but now they don't really talk about it. In fact, they really don't want to talk about it. They really don't want to talk about it. Yeah. I feel really great about this is the winner, and I do feel like they are the new era.
Starting point is 01:16:49 Ross Robin Amor. Robin Amor. It would be hard to get that again. I think it's a hard thing to, you know, was it this show that would say, or Big Brother that we've matched up more successful couples than The Bachelor. I think large in part, a lot of them have fallen. I feel like that Claire and Derek X
Starting point is 01:17:09 really boxed them out of the Amazing Rice also. Yeah, that must have been around the same year, right? I think that makes sense. Okay, that we should have Matt and Franny? it's like, well, we just did Claire and Derek X. Yeah, I really thought they do Survivor. I'm sorry, they do Big Brother Amazing Race
Starting point is 01:17:27 for season 38. I thought for sure season 39 would have been Survivor Amazing Race. I don't know why they didn't do that. It's a classic survivor number. It's a survivor number, although not anymore. But they don't. It's a Val 39.
Starting point is 01:17:41 We can't redo 26. Season 26, rather. I think they will eventually, they would have a fantastic amazing race run. I've spent time with them in person. and they're, you know, they're great. So Amanda and Ozzy, you drop them down to the top of cute, not hot? No, I think that they, well, I guess, yeah, they can't be the second.
Starting point is 01:17:58 They can't both be second best. Yeah, I think this, this to me is her final ranking with Chelsea and Dean looking onward. Like, they missed the bus. Like, they missed the car to take a picture together. Yeah, it was on, listen, when you Google it's more than you can say for some couples, I tried to Google. Okay. This feels great to me.
Starting point is 01:18:15 Let's go through, for the audio listeners, let's go through the, let's go back. Start with the nomance. We've got, in our last place, Mikey B and Mary's Saracanx, right? They were here, but barely. And then we have Dan Rangering and Kara Kaye. That rounds out our nomans tier. From back to front of the MET tier,
Starting point is 01:18:41 we've got Jenna and Seabas, Kim and Jeff from Palau, Cole and Jessica from Heroes, Healer's Hustlers, and Keith and Whitney from The Amazing Race 25 and Survivor South Pacific and other stuff. Whitney was on Nashville Star, the country singing competition show.
Starting point is 01:19:01 We've got our cute non-hot tier from front to back. We have Jen Lion and Greg. We've got Colleen and Greg. We've got two Gregs. We've got Adam, Gentry and Candice, Figgie and Taylor, Austin and D. Austin and Amanda.
Starting point is 01:19:18 I'm sorry. Sorry, Ozzy and Amanda. Austin and D, Ozzie and Amanda. And then we've got Frannie and Matt as our winners and our best couple of the Survivors. Second Best Showman. How about that? Phenomenal. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:35 And if you saw them in person, you'd get it. They're electric. Yes. Like the Zivo that I've plugged into my fridge. Yes. Send us your address, guys. We'll send the Zivo. Yes.
Starting point is 01:19:48 winning, Matt and Frannie, you will win a Zivo. Kill all indoor insects with Zivo. All right. I need a Zivo. Looking ahead, what's the feedback on this one? Are people storming to the comment section, and if so, for what? That's interesting. And I don't want to show a lack of self-awareness.
Starting point is 01:20:11 I right now can't think of anything. Are they upset that Chelsea and Dean were in consideration? No, I can't imagine. I can't imagine that. Maybe this is something that we forgot. You know, it's, we're not doing this live. If we were doing it live, then we have the live chat and the live chat sort of like represents the comment section as we go. But it also prevents us from having hotter takes.
Starting point is 01:20:34 And I think that at the end of the day, I think that maybe you want to have takes that are a little bit outside the box. I agree with that. I for certain agree with that. and honestly, if you don't like what are a fit, which I think this is a pretty clear answer for the second best showman's, but if you have an argument, put it in the comments. I'd love to hear, well, we're going to read everyone. Yeah, and feel free.
Starting point is 01:20:57 I love to hear what you have to say. Yeah, I love feedback. You don't get better unless you have feedback. I firmly believe that, okay? So, Brandon, what's coming up next? I mean, not much of anything. Is this, well, I don't know if you want to do this.
Starting point is 01:21:15 But you want to say the other show that we're going to talk about next week, or is it too soon for that? Oh, we're looking ahead. Yeah, we're going to talk about a little show on Hulu called The Mob. Not the people that went to the comment section to talk about last week's podcast. Not you Kelly Shin lovers out there. Although a show about all of you would be really good. Yes.
Starting point is 01:21:35 This is a Hulu competition show about the mob. We're going to do that. I'm also going to do a video talking about who I think is really in danger we have a double tribal council coming up on Wednesday. And then I'll be back with Stephen for a know-it-all's coming up on Wednesday night. So be on the lookout for that. Thank you all so much for joining us for this. And if you have more ideas for some other lists or things that can get ranked that are arbitrary and reductive, let us know.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Keep here for a good one. Bye.
