Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Sestrino back and we are very excited for the first of a brand new feature here on RHAP.
This season, Survivor 48, gonna check in
with an old school guest every single week.
I've listened to the feedback.
The listeners say, where are the old school guests?
Well, there's one woman who has brought old school survivor
back to RHAP for quite some time,
so I couldn't think of a better
person to have on our first old school interview of the season.
My great friend, Teresa T. Bird Cooper, living legend.
Hey Rob.
Hi T. Bird, how are you?
I'm great.
Thank you for thinking about me for this first segment.
Yes, yes.
T-Bird, I ask for you all the time.
I won't say what happens in between from when I ask for you
and when you get here.
Sometimes I hear like,
T-Bird's calendar doesn't work.
Doesn't work with the schedule.
Well, I got a little flight schedule
that occasionally gets in
the way. You know how that goes. Yes. Yes. But yeah, I was hoping that we could have
caught up during last season, but I'm very excited to have you kick off the brand new
season of Survivor. So I have 48, of course, a bunch of podcasts already up on RHA P. You
could check them all out. We know survivor.com. But Tiber, what's new with you?
Well, I'm still flying.
Yes.
Getting ready to start 45 years with Delta.
What?
Is there anybody there longer than you?
Yes.
Oh.
Yes, there are.
I know everybody's like, what?
How can that be?
But yeah, I mean, it's such a great,
once you get your seniority built up,
you don't wanna leave. So yeah, and Delta actually is just- That's what I mean, such a great, once you get your seniority built up, you don't wanna leave.
So yeah, and Delta actually is just-
That's like me with podcasting.
Exactly.
And Delta just celebrated a hundred year anniversary.
So happy anniversary, Delta.
Yeah, okay, happy anniversary.
And Rob, I have a grandbaby, a new grandbaby.
Yes, that I know.
She's nine months old,
so I'm spending a lot of time with baby girl. So it's cool Rob because now I have somebody that I can dance with dress up do skits
Yeah, because my kids of course don't want any part of that so
It's working out. Yeah, okay. Well
She's a very lucky girl who could have a better grandma than t-bird who?
Dresses up in costumes for fun, loves to dance,
has a lot of snacks.
Snacks, yep, snacks, good.
Anyway, thank you, Rob.
So this season of Survivor,
can you believe we're a quarter of a century
with Survivor now?
It's gonna be 25 years of Survivor,
I believe May 31st, I think it's survivors birthday
Yep, so how well that is a a may birthday just like you. Yeah, why do you still have to do the belt with your foot?
Why do I do with my foot? Oh, okay. You mean as opposed to having it up here on the desk?
Yeah, why don't you have it on the desk? Okay. I thought we talked about this because a year or two ago
I had it up here on the desk and
I would ding it. It was too loud.
Then the feedback I was getting was it's so loud. So it's probably still pretty loud in the floor.
But the problem with it being on the floor, Rob, is I'm like doing this.
You're still like.
I'm trying to find it. So, but that's just the way it goes.
That's just the way it goes. It's on the floor.
Yeah.
So anyway, this, hey, first let me say this.
Kudos to casting once again.
I know they've got some great, great people to choose from,
but every time, and they did it again,
this cast is phenomenal.
You like them.
I love them.
Yes.
And Glenn's already told me, I don't know why I said, don't be getting aggressive.
I don't know why I said don't be aggressive.
You don't have to talk about every one of the players on the new season.
Come on.
I know.
Why does the deeper never get aggressive with somebody?
Maybe assertive, maybe, but aggressive anyway.
So I love the cast and dynamics with them.
They're all fascinating in their own way.
So I'm gonna enjoy talking about the first show
and I'm gonna really enjoy talking about the cast
because they're neat.
So where do we start?
Where do we start?
I don't know, do you have a...
I mean, I feel like I haven't talked to you in so many months.
I just want to know.
Like I talk about the survivors all week.
Everything else is good.
Yeah, everything's good.
We'll get to we'll get to what's going on with talking with T-Bird later
because I kind of had an idea about that.
Oh, we can we can hit the end about that.
We can talk about that a lot.
OK, all right. So tell me two hour premiere of Survivor. We can hit the end about that. We can talk about that a lot. Okay, all right, so tell me, two hour premiere of Survivor,
then, okay, you like the cast, okay,
did you have any favorites, T-Bird?
Do you want me to name my favorites?
I want you to tell me one per,
I don't want you to tell me nine people
that you were your favorites.
I was well, so I don't think I can tell you just one.
That's too assertive.
Ask me later, that's just just yeah, that's too aggressive
Ask me later because I don't know and I'm not even sure don't ask me who I think is gonna win. Although
Don't even ask me that either but I'm gonna ask
You're gonna ask me. I don't ask me. Yes, because the longer I'm talking about it. I'm gonna know
All right. I think I need to get in I think I need to channel I need to channel this now
So I'm gonna channel. Okay. What are you doing? You have a Ouija board?
No, okay
T-bird is putting on a giant hat
I'm channeling, you know
Of course, so I would look everywhere for that cool hat Stephanie had.
This is this is the best I could find.
So I've got this. Yeah. Stephanie.
And if nothing else, I'm definitely going to recommend that we see Stephanie
either for costume design or wardrobe design for Survivor
and or White Lotus. Yes. Do you watch that?
White Lotus. Yes, I do. But I haven't watched the new White Lotus. Yes. Do you watch that? White Lotus?
Yes, I do.
But I haven't watched the new season yet.
Okay.
All right.
I haven't watched it yet.
But the whole Stephanie thing with the hat made me think, okay, now this is going to
be the tricky part for Stephanie.
I know I'm not supposed to eat popcorn on our segments.
Okay.
I'm not sure how this is going to happen.
So this is kind of good news, bad news for you.
I've got popcorn, although I'm going to be sitting on my hands.
Okay.
I'm going to try to sit on my hands.
Yeah.
And do what?
Well, I'm doing that's what Stephanie said.
She's going to be sitting on her hands.
That's how she played the game.
So what is this?
So you're going to sit
on your hands while you do the podcast. So you can't eat popcorn.
I'm trying to see how long that's going to happen. So I'd already been practicing this.
You're eating the
Okay. That's not really going to work out. So anyway, now there's popcorn. Clean up on
all three.
So if you're listening to the podcast, T-Bird has picked up a box of popcorn with her mouth
because she's sitting on her hands like Stephanie.
I was sitting on my hands.
But then you drop the popcorn.
Yeah, that didn't really work out.
Okay, so forget the popcorn since everybody knows that listens to you.
There's no eating allowed on the podcast.
Yeah, I feel like that generally people don't like that.
Right, okay, so we'll stay away from that.
All right, so let's get into this.
Yes.
We've got so much to talk about.
We've got air signs, we've got team city folks.
What's your sign?
You're a May birthday.
So what do you- Amateurs.
Yes, okay.
Cinco de Mayo baby. No, I know
when your birthday is, but I don't know your astrological sign. I don't know the signs like
that. Taurus. So I am not an air sign. Some may say an air head, but not a... You're in the air a lot.
I'm in the air, right. So what is the Taurus? A land sign? It's the bull. No, I know what it is, but I don't know what's the air sign. I'm a Libra. I just found out
that was an air sign.
Actually, I didn't know anything about the air and the land and all that. I actually
Googled it to find out what the signs were that were air signs. Do you know what the
three are? Cause I wrote it down here somewhere. No, I don't. I know that I only know Libra. Is it is it go by the quarters
of the year or is it from all over the map? I'm trying to look. I could see it if I didn't
have popcorn laying all over my desk. Anyway, I'm not sure. Oh, wait a minute. Yes, I do.
I have it right here. It is Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the air signs.
I don't know what that means.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, that's like all over the map.
Why wouldn't the air signs be all like in a row?
That's a good point.
I don't know.
Like why wouldn't it?
It should be like a quarter of the year.
This is something new I'm learning.
Make it make sense.
So I don't know.
Yeah.
So let's talk about
Stephanie.
Yeah. Tell me about Stephanie.
What do you think about her?
I like her.
Yeah, I like her.
She's got she's got great energy.
And I think the only you know,
I keep thinking, you know how when
you listen to David
and Jessica, who I love, why X lost?
I kept thinking in my mind, so what did Stephanie do wrong?
And I kept thinking about it and I thought, I think it was just bad luck.
Because the game plays, especially the very first three days, is so fast.
And it kind of you, you can have a plan going out there, which clearly I think Stephanie did.
But the game kind of plays around you.
So, for example, in Africa, I had a plan.
So when they dropped us off of the transport, all of a sudden, if people remember Africa, it was the mature players and the younger players.
The younger players went off and, you know, left the mature players back here in the back, which I ended up, you know, I was left behind. Anyway, so it happened.
I had nothing to do with it.
The alliances were set.
So even with Stephanie, I think she had the right idea
going in, social games, very important, get to know people,
learn about their moms, where you really actually care
about knowing about your moms.
And then from there, we saw Say who,
boots on the ground, took off playing the game really hard.
And you can't blame Say for that either.
I mean, she did a great job right off the bat,
deciding when she was talking to Mary and Stephanie
that they weren't playing fast enough for her.
And from that point, she was off making her alliance
with the three guys that quickly.
And so I'm not sure that Stephanie
could have done much different
other than her shot in the dark working.
So she played that, she gave that a chance.
So other than just bad luck,
I'm not sure what could have happened, but I'll tell you
what. Even like Stephanie said to Jeff, you know, it's got to be someone. Her attitude and her
energy and her spirit, she just seemed to have such a great attitude about everything.
Was just happy to be part of this amazing experience.
So I think she was think she's a really cool, cool person.
I think so, too. I think you're right.
I think she did get very unlucky.
And if she was on one of the other tribes, you know, certainly she has a chance to get her foot in the door.
I think you're also right about, you know, in terms of like, OK, I'm going to try to get to know people.
I mean, I feel like that that's sort of like more of the old school survivor
mentality, like, okay, I'm going to learn about these people and then I'm going to,
you know, make an alliance out of the people that I really vibe with.
Tony talked about once an alliance of numbers versus an alliance of comfort.
And I think that she was a little bit more like oh Let's get to know everybody here and see like who I'm really vibing with and that's gonna be my group
But I think that the game moves at the pace of the person who wants to play the fastest
especially in these small groups of six and
Say when she goes to the three guys and they're like hey, let's do this
I think that a lot of these tribes, you know If you're one of the women and you go up to the three guys and they're like, hey, let's do this. I think that a lot of these tribes, you know,
if you're one of the women and you go up to the three guys
and say, hey, this is the four,
like I think that's pretty much like gonna fast track
that you're gonna definitely get through
the first tribal council.
Right, so you figured there's, like you said,
tribe of six and you always hear people say,
even from the first day, you wanna get your core four. Well, if those core four...
That's like what you had with Frank and Linda and Carl, core four.
Core four. And again, I'm crazy about those four, but ideally I was hoping to be with the younger
group because, you know, that's where I thought... You should have flipped.
to be with the younger group. Cause you know, that's where I thought.
You should have flipped.
You should have flipped.
Anyway, so, wait, I got off what I was gonna say.
Sorry, Super.
Oh, so the four days, so yeah.
Core four.
Core four, core four, core four.
So if there's only six people out there
and your four are lined up,
you only have a 50-50 chance now.
Yeah.
You're one of the other two. And so, you know,
Mary was smart to get with, was it? Kevin. Kevin. Kevin. I love Kevin. What a sweetheart. Yeah.
What a sweetheart. Anyway, Mary was smart enough to kind of get in with Kevin. And then for whatever
reason, you know, it seems like the art lady, which I think Say may have said, called her the art lady
before it started, maybe all that, whatever.
They weren't really-
She was painting at Ponderosa.
Right.
So again, Stephanie, the free spirit that she seems to be doing something like that
with somebody like Say, who's, you know, focused on the game and focused, and not to say that
Stephanie wasn't,
but it was just in a different way,
just in a completely different way.
So anyway, I was gonna say too, but imagine this,
the same thing that Say did that worked for her,
because she was smart enough to go to the three guys
and say, I think we need to find an immunity idol.
We need to find it.
So she went to them and brought them into that, which was really smart,
where we see on this other tribe with Star
how Star has gone out and feels like she needs to find an idol.
But she didn't pull the other people in.
What's that Seva? No, that's not Seva. She's Loggy.
But she didn't pull the other people in. What's that, Siva?
No, that's not Siva.
She's Loggy.
So their alliance over at Loggy was formed where Star went off doing her own thing.
So that alliance got formed with the California girls and then Eva and or Bianca, whoever
they decide they're going to pull in.
But the Star was doing something on her own without pulling the group in.
Yeah, I think that's a smart point, T-Bird. I think that if you want to go look for the idol,
like make your group of four and then go look for the idol and have people cover for you and
people to help bring you in, don't be left out of the four or let the four get made because you're
off looking for the idol where the four is made about, you know,
we had this a little bit with Rome last season
where from our perspective, it looked a little bit more
like people were like, hey, what's Rome doing?
But he kind of already had a four.
Right.
And it was brilliant for Say to do it
because not only did she bring them in
and form an alliance that quickly when she needed to,
now she's got help to figure out this
clues where they're having to run around. So she was able to pull in like the first thing when they
showed it, where she's like, I don't know, I'm not sure how to do the whatever. I'm thinking to myself,
get the surgeon. Yeah. Yeah. So she brought them in where they're feeling like part of it. It was it was great where again
Star went out looking for something and didn't include the other so now that's kind of that's made her isolate herself from that group
Listen, this is what I was wondering. Yeah, think of it
think of this what if
star
Had been on the tribe where say is and say had been on the tribe where Say is,
and Say had been on the tribe, hold it,
let me think this through, I'm gonna get myself confused.
Okay.
What if Say had been on the other tribe where,
if Star had been with the group where Say is,
and she had gone out looking for her own idol
without telling anybody, had been with the group, Rosse is, and she had gone out looking for her own idol without
telling anybody, then that would have cost her the game. Right. That would have cost
her the game.
If they went to the tribal council. Maybe. Yeah.
But you know what? I don't even know where I'm going with this right now. I had it planned
out in my head, but I don't even know.
Yeah.
So I feel like you know a lot about the players. Did you do a lot of research before the season started?
Yes, I did. Yes. Yeah, what do you do before the season starts? Okay, so Rob
I like to do a little I like to send a little private message just to say welcome to the family
You do that for 18 people?
Yes, Wow
And I like to do it because back on season three,
I just remember how many people reached out to me
from season one and two and said, hey, team, you know, hey.
How did they do that?
They wrote you a letter?
Actually, nobody ever did that.
Yeah.
I think I would have been nice.
Nobody did it.
No, God let me back.
In fairness, they didn't have your phone number. No, I went back when we were doing that. I was just making a joke. Yeah phone number. I went back when we were doing that. I was just making a joke. Okay.
We were doing that.
So I just think now that we're part of this great amazing family and I think that people
play.
What do you say?
What do you say to people?
Well, pretend I'm a new person as I just got.
I just got on Survivor.
What would you say to me?
I just say, hey, Rob, just wanted to me? I'd just say, like, hey Rob,
just wanted to welcome you to our very,
into our fun, crazy Survivor family.
I know it's been a wild ride so far
and you're ready to get the party started.
You know, good luck with everything.
You know, you've already won just by making the cast.
Yeah. And I believe that.
Okay. And then can you tell me, T-Bird,
then out of 18 people,
how many people write back to you?
Okay.
I was wondering if you might ask me that.
Do you know I've heard that you're gonna, okay.
Out of 18.
Yeah, you want me to guess?
What do you think?
I think out of 18, I'll say that 10 wrote back.
No.
My higher or lower?
Higher.
Higher.
15 you said?
15.
Wow.
15.
Pretty good.
So, so it's interesting because it, their tone, I always say somebody's tone gives you an
idea a little bit of their personality before it even starts.
So actually, I had done this last, well, I do it usually every season. Last season,
I did it and I corresponded with Rachel. Oh, quite a bit. Quite a bit before it's nothing where I know anything.
Yeah. It's nothing like that. It's nothing like that.
She was just Rachel was very open and warm and and you know, everybody's again, they're
nervous. I don't know where they place or where they finish. But the main thing is just
to say, okay, I got good vibes from her.
I've gotten great vibes from, from all the 15, all the 15. So, um, and a lot of them, because we are old school Rob, so a lot of these players
have been huge fans their whole life, their whole life.
Hey, Sam, cue the cookie, Sam, cue the cookie.
Sam, cue the cookie.
Okay, Sam, cue the cookie.
Okay, I don't know what this means.
Okay, so here we go.
So we have a picture on the screen.
Okay, so what am I looking at, T-Bird?
Describe this for the podcast people.
Okay, so, all right.
Okay, who are these people?
Looking at the cookie first.
The cookie says, oh, Bianca, okay,
so this is a Bianca, Daniel,
and then another name.
Joanna.
Joanna.
And Jill.
You weren't supposed to look at that, Rob,
because I was going to ask you a question,
but anyway, you're much brighter
than I gave you credit for that you're on that one,
that you were at the cookie.
Okay, so when I reached out to the new players, yes,
I got back from Bianca.
She sent me this back.
Wow. This young.
Look how young they are. I'm going to pick her out in just a minute.
This young group of of of kids here were watching Africa.
And cookie cake. This young group of kids here were watching Africa. And she sent me this and she said this is what this was one of our watch parties.
This is our cookie for one of our survivor Africa watch parties.
Isn't that cool Rob?
That is cool.
That is like so cool.
So that is hold on a minute.
Hold on a minute.
I got my notes
everywhere here. Um, well, you know who this is, right? You know who it is.
Well, you said it's Bianca, but, but I could, I don't know if I could pick out Bianca from
the four girls in the picture.
All right. So Bianca is now, this is cool. Okay. You got to pick, you got one of the
four Rob, is it worth playing for? The four right here. Bianca in front of the...
What are you holding up? That's an idol?
Is this worth... Is it worth playing for?
Well, what is it? Hold on. What do you have now?
Like, there's so many props. What is this?
Is this like a...
Is it worth playing for?
Is this from Africa? What is this?
This is from Africa.
My dad brought this back from Africa many, many, many years.
My dad has passed now.
But anyway, isn't this the coolest little immunity idol?
Sometimes I've used it in some of my videos.
Anyway.
All right.
So of the four girls, north, south, east and west, I'm going to guess that Bianca is south,
the girl in the bottom.
What color is her shirt? White. that Bianca is south, the girl in the bottom.
What color is her shirt?
White.
That's Bianca?
Yes.
That's Bianca.
And her friend above is Jill.
Jill, okay.
Is Jill.
Okay, I didn't realize Jill was on the bottom of the cake.
No, Jill's at the top.
Where's Daniel?
Well, I'm not sure about that.
Not sure.
I don't know Rob.
So anyway, when Bianca reached back and said, you know, and sent me that, I'm like, how
cool is that Rob?
Yeah.
I mean, that was like the neatest thing ever.
So anyway, that's Bianca.
Obviously, she's my son's age
She's Tyler's age. So I guess at the time she was eight. Mm-hmm, right? She was eight years old
Yeah, so obviously been a fan since she's eight. So that's Bianca. That's my connection with Bianca
I think it's an absolute doll baby. So that's that with Bianca. Um, so I like? Oh my gosh, I like so many. So another
connection. We've got a connection. You and I have a connection with one of these players.
We do? Sort of. I'd say so. You and I have a connection with one of these players. Well,
then I don't know what the connection could be. What's connecting me and you and another one of
these survivor players? Well, it was your season. Africa.
My season?
Yeah, I mean Amazon.
Yes, okay.
The UA's got me confused.
Yes, okay.
Amazon, it was Amazon.
Yeah.
All right, so Mitch.
Oh yes.
Who I love like crazy.
Sure.
I love Mitch.
Don't even get me going, I love Mitch. So let me make sure I'm getting all
my notes right here. So Mitch's very first full season was Africa. Yeah. Okay. So he sent me back
when I sent him welcome to the family, da da da da da da da. And he said, you know, thank you,
T-Bird. Africa was the very first full season I had ever watched.
And he said he loved Lex and Ethan, of course, who didn't. And he said, Kim,
now he did. I'm not sure if it's Kim, or Kim. No, but I'll have to ask him and probably both of them.
Probably both of them. And so anyway, so that was Mitch. But Mitch mentioned Christie in the opening premiere
about Amazon with being deaf.
So that's the connection with Mitch.
Yeah.
So anyway, he's so neat, so neat.
And then we've got, of course,
I thought you would figure that out about Mitch
and the Christie and the Amazon.
Yeah, no, I mean, I knew that.
It was in the episode.
I know, I know.
Okay, let's just, let me see.
I didn't know he watched that.
It's from Africa first.
So, so also, of course, we can't,
I've got a couple of other connections with Georgia.
Do you know what, do you know who they are?
Who else is, who's in Atlanta?
Is it worth playing for?
I don't know off the top of my head. Who else is from Atlanta?
Well, not necessarily.
In Georgia.
Okay. Well, Eva went to Georgia Tech.
Ah, okay. Remember?
So of course, I text Eva at the time to tell her my daddy
went to Georgia Tech.
Yes.
I'm here in Georgia.
So of course, Eva is another one of those
that just warms your heart with her whole backstory.
My story, sure.
I mean, just, you know, everything about her seems just incredible. And I just
reading about her bio and, you know, her mom and dad, all the support they've given her.
So I mean, to think that, I think she said like at one years old that they thought the
autism would have it where she couldn't really, you know, function
on her own and that her parents always referred to her as just, you know, unique.
Yeah.
So what an incredible woman.
And of course, we got the whole Roger Elizabeth vibes with her pairing up with Joe.
And you know, again, now Joe's completely warm, but they've all
warmed my hearts in different ways. I mean, you can name every player out there and I
can pretty much rattle off why I just got my heart already, which again, kudos to the
heroes which are casting for putting these people out there. But Joe, the way he responded to her, to Eva, and it seemed, you know, I guess it
remains to be, you know, people say, well, it remains to be seen if he is loyal to her.
I can't imagine that he would not be.
Yeah. I don't think he's going to turn on her.
Oh no. I don't think so either. And Rob, from the beginning, and we,
I know I'm jumping around like I certainly do. I'm sitting over here in popcorn everywhere.
This is your time, T-Bird. Thank you Rob. The way that the season started out, the way
that they showed the players getting their Zoom calls.
Yeah.
Did you like that?
Oh, I loved it.
Yeah. Didn't you?
Didn't you love it?
That was a fun way to start.
T-Bird, what was your reaction
when they told you you were gonna go to Africa?
Well, my story's a little different
because at first they told me I wasn't going to Africa.
Oh.
At first it was, T-Bird, we're going to save you for season four for the next four more
cases.
And then they call back and said Africa.
So I was thrilled because even though I fly and have flown some pretty cool places, I've
never been to Africa and I wanted to go.
But then when they called me back, I was probably excited,
Rob, but I was afraid they might pull it back for me.
I really don't know this. I don't think I've talked about this with very many people that
do they do they tell you on the phone? How do they tell people? Because I, they told me in person
that I was going to go on Survivor the Amazon. I think what happened, I can't remember the order, you know, for me it's been almost
a quarter of a century. It seems like once I had gotten back from the LA week is when they called
and said, well, kind of good news, bad news. You know, we want you, but we're going to hold you for
the next season. which you know how
that happens. You never know what's going to happen between one season to the next. So that's, you know,
they said we're going to, and I think they actually said the Marquesas. I feel like they did. But anyway,
but anyway, Rob, where was I going with this? Well, no, I'm interested to know the story because I
that I'm just having a realization
that I feel like I had a different experience
than most people because they told me in person
because I feel like that most people go to casting, right?
And you go to, and you met with all the executives,
and then you probably go home,
and then they tell you you're on the show or not.
But my experience was different
because I came in
very much after everybody else had gone for
Survivor the Amazon.
And they were doing sort of like a last minute
like casting call,
because they were trying to find like one or two other
people.
And I went to, I went there and I was like in a very small
group.
There was really almost nobody else there with me at,
at CBS, like during that time,
I was there, maybe there was like 10 guys that they were talking to. And then after it was over,
they told me that then in there, like, Hey, you're, you're going, you're, you're getting picked.
Why you were out there.
I was in Los Angeles. They, they told me that I got selected. And I was asking the question like, hey,
this is like a very niche reference that I asked them
if I was getting X'd.
I said, am I being X'd right now?
And they're like, what is that?
And there was a show called The Jamie Kennedy Experience.
And he was like punk people
but it called he would get X and it was a very niche reference but I only
mentioned that because then when I was on Survivor that Jeff Probst compared
me to Jamie Kennedy in a different way that he compared me to Jamie Kennedy in
the movie Scream who was the guy who was in the horror movie who knew he was in a horror movie
So it's very weird that I miss that Jamie Kennedy came up twice in conversation
And really never since then other than those two moments. I'm referencing
Yeah, and I'm not even sure I'm Jamie Kennedy is you think he's like is he related to JFK? I don't think so
I don't think so. But I don't know.
Well, Rob, now that you say, tell me your story.
I wasn't there for the whole week, actually.
I got called up at the last second also.
I wasn't there for a full seven days.
Yeah, because I know they had they had a couple of women out there.
And I think they called me up.
So I was I was only there like three days, which actually is exactly the same thing that happened with second chances
in the hands of the fans.
That was, no, that was, okay. That was the first time it was in the hands of the fans.
You don't love these fan votes.
Well, I don't want to say that, but it just didn't work out for me in the hands of the
fans. It worked out for me. But no hands of the fans didn't work out for me.
But no, the first time they called me up for like, and I went at the last minute
for the last three days and that worked out.
But then the same thing for second chances.
I was actually in Munich on a trip.
I was on a layover and Penny called me and said, hey, T-Bird, I don't know where you are.
Do you think you can make it out here?
What do you think Penny?
Yes, I can.
I will make it out there.
I said, but I've got a small problem.
I'm in Germany right now.
But as soon as I land tomorrow,
I landed in Atlanta and flew straight out to LA.
Well, you know, in the hands of the fans,
that's the end of that story.
So, but Rob, this is what I was
going to tell you. This is the thing we're asking about, how they told us. So when they were showing
us how they told us, how they told them over these Zoom calls, when they showed Joe's, I think it was
Joe's. Yeah. I'm pretty sure it was Joe's. A couple of things that makes me love Joe more than I already love Joe.
Everybody's reactions were, oh my gosh, a lot of bleeping, a lot of bleepings were going
on with the different players and stuff.
But Joe's comment, it almost makes me a little emotional, but I'm not going to get that way.
Joe's comment was, I wish I could see what I made a note on it. He said,
I remember what he said.
My kids, my kids are going to be so proud. That was the, I don't know when it was the first thing he said, but I think it
was because it went straight into what after Penny said, you're going, he said, my kids are going to be so proud. So he's already thinking about his kids, right?
So now he's out there with Eva.
He's already said, this is like, what if this was my daughter?
So I already think to myself, he said,
even if this takes me out early or whatever,
I'm going to watch her.
And I thought, wow, that's pretty strong.
But anyway, so listen to this.
Penny was my girl through casting all these years.
So when I heard Joe say, what, really Penny?
Rob, all of a sudden it was one of those bittersweet things
because you always want to get the call from Penny.
Just do. So anyway, I actually have a voice message on my phone that I have kept since January 4th, 2018 from Penny.
Wow. Jenny said, Hey, T-Bird, you know, trying to get in touch with you, you know, can you give me a call back?
And I think that was when they were casting Winners at War.
Would that have been right, Rob, 2018?
Yeah, I think that they were, yeah,
cause they played in 2019.
Okay, so I know they reached out
and I don't give anybody the wrong impression.
I reached out to a lot of people.
Yeah.
Cause I know they were trying to figure out
what combination and what their theme was gonna be.
But the point of it is, is I only have maybe six voicemails
that I've kept all these years.
One of them's Penny's.
Yeah.
Because I just remembered that's just,
and one of them's from Mad Dog, just so you know.
I've got a Mad Dog voicemail too.
So anyway, when I heard Penny's voice telling Joe
he made it, it was a really sweet moment.
And I loved them showing that.
I thought that was really added a lot to the opening show.
Yeah.
And then taking them out,
taking out how they all got their tea buffs.
I loved them coming on their their boats already in their in
their buffs where we already knew the tribes. I thought that was great too. So I loved it. That's
how they did that. T-Bird, was there anybody that gave you a bad vibe? Is that possible?
Okay, no, I don't want to say a bad vibe, but with...
Maybe you didn't make a great first impression?
Of the 15 people.
Not even in your personal messages with them, maybe even just on television?
No.
Okay.
No, no, not even a little bit.
I think they're like all super cool.
And it seems like Rob, even looking back through their bios, so many, even a lot of the guys
are saying trust is so important, kindness, all this kind of stuff.
I'm like, you know, I mean, I know we have different personalities.
We've got David who, you know, there's a reason that each one of them have a special
place for me. Of course, David, who's very colorful, who is just a regular guy and a
job body. You know, he's just, he's just such a big personality. And one of the things he
would like to do if he wins is, do you know what? No. So this is
a kind of a connection.
Oh, is he going to open up or is he going to fly a plane? Is it? He wants to become
a pilot. Yeah. And so, I mean, if you, I know a lot of times, a lot of people, fans have
things to say about all the players, because that's what people do.
But if you look past all of them,
and you kind of dig deeper into them,
they're all so fascinating and likable for some reason.
And I know I really liked David,
and actually David's comment,
well, I guess you know David got back with me
now that I said that.
He said, hopefully I'll see you in the skies one day.
So of course, you know, you can't, how he kept keep from pulling for somebody like that
when you know, he wants to go into the aviation field.
So he's another guy that I, that I really liked.
And oh, so let's talk about this.
I liked how he did his little game out there.
Yes.
Favorite movie. What kind of car do you drive, and how do you like your steak?
Now, you probably discussed this last week's show with so many people.
A few.
So, I don't know what yours are.
Yeah.
But you don't know what mine are.
So, for people that may not have watched those other ones, what are yours?
All right.
So, I drive a Hyundai Kona.
Okay.
Should I take it?
If you want to.
It's a small SUV.
Okay, okay.
Okay.
My favorite movie is Back to the Future.
Okay. I like my to the Future. Okay.
I like my steak medium rare.
Okay.
So you're, that's pretty normal.
I wouldn't say that's not psych, I don't think that's.
Yeah, the steak question I feel like
is not super informative.
I don't feel like I'm learning,
unless somebody is like, I like my steak,
like completely raw or like burnt to a crisp.
Other than those two extremes, like I don't think we're learning a lot from the steak question.
Right. Okay. Yeah. I think unless it's extreme, which yeah. Okay. So for me,
I have a little T-bird. Yeah. Oh, nice. I have a little and I've had it. That's another story too. Okay. Um,
but that's not how you got your name. Well, no, I got my name. I got my name back in college.
Yeah. Back in college, I got T-Bird, but it, how does everything relate to Survivor? Cause actually
this relates to Survivor. I got called for all stars. Yeah. Back in the day. Now they were really great because they said,
T-Bird, if Tina goes back, you won't be going.
Right off the first phone call, which I appreciated that.
Cause Rob, when you get that call from Penny,
you want to, hey, now your mind's going, you're going.
You want to go.
So anyway, Penny, they told me if Tina goes,
you won't be going.
And I pretty much knew that she would be going.
But anyway, one of the forums and all the stuff I filled out,
it said, if you want a million dollars,
what would you buy yourself?
Unselfish, selfish.
How does it go?
Not something that you have to have,
just something that you, whatever have, just something that you
treat, whatever that is, something that you treat yourself for. If you win the million,
you have to spend it on yourself. And I thought, I want to get a T-bird. That's what I want
to get. Well, guess what? I put it on the farm, I sent it off and they cast Tina. I
didn't get to play that season. But I thought to myself, by golly, I didn't get to play, but I'm going to treat
myself to a T-Bird. So I have a T-Bird. And then-
The same one from 2004?
I still have it. Yeah. I think it was the last year they made that little T-Bird and
I still have it. Yeah. Yeah. And then-
And it still runs?
Yeah. Of course it still runs.
Like you?
Absolutely. So anyway, steak, rare. Yeah, of course it still runs. Like you.
Absolutely.
So anyway, steak, rare.
Not even medium rare.
No, rare.
I think David liked his rare.
Rare.
And my favorite movie, I've got two,
but I'll just say the one.
What is it?
My cousin Vinny.
Oh, I would not have guessed that.
My cousin Vinny.
Are you kidding me?
That is a plastic. And I don't care how many times you watch it, you're always going to find, you're always
going to laugh at something different.
Yeah.
It's, it's great.
My cousin Vinnie.
Okay.
What's the other one?
Well, Wizard of Oz, but everybody, that's kind of everybody's.
That's big.
That's big.
Yeah, big.
But I have to say,
A prequel just came out.
Did you do about Wicked?
Yeah.
I heard about it.
Not a lot of people knew about that.
Yeah.
I did hear about that.
So yeah, so those are my three.
But that was a fun part of David to share that.
And then we got to see, you know,
now we'll talk about two others.
Okay.
Camilla.
Yes.
Camilla and Kyle.
Kyle.
Who guess what?
I love.
Yes.
I liked Kyle when he, when he went over with Kevin.
I already liked Kevin and Kevin's little message to me
from the beginning.
Oh, we already know, but if you're a count,
we're gonna know the 15 people that I talked to.
Oh, you asked me if there was anybody
I got a negative vibe about.
I hadn't really answered that question yet.
None of the 15 I got negative vibe from.
But the three that didn't.
No, well, no, I don't wanna say that.
Oh, I might be giving myself away.
I have to be careful what I'm saying here.
Why?
Anyway, Kevin is adorable.
And even Kevin mentioned something about being like a little guy
and he's not sure how it's going to play out.
This is before the season started.
And of course, the opening, he was amazing.
He was amazing. He was amazing.
He's got an injury.
And then all of a sudden they're trying to decide
who they're gonna send off.
And then I'm not sure if it was Justin
who looked at him and said,
hey, since you weren't able to play that,
do you wanna go?
And I'm thinking to myself,
I don't know if he wants to go or not.
I think he's got a jacked up shoulder.
But he went and go or not. I think he's got a jacked up shoulder. But he went and
he was unbelievable. So him and Kyle go over together who seemed to be perfectly matched
other than Kevin's got a bad shoulder. Because I was saying to Glenn, I'm like, you know, if they had sent any other people, there
may not have been such a perfect match as those two seem to be.
Other than, well, did I mention Kevin's had a, he's got a bum shoulder now, but he still
was, you know, amazing with, with the challenge.
And then Kyle bust his vase, his bottle.
And then he didn't skip a beat.
If you go back and watch it,
unless they edit it perfectly, I'm gonna tear up again.
He goes and starts filling up his water to put in Kevin's.
I'm like, Kyle, wow, that's beautiful. Yeah, that is a that's a beautiful
moment. Why does that make you tear up? Um, I don't know. It just does. Yeah, I think
Survivor is such a difficult game, especially if you when you play it, you see how difficult
is this. It's a very emotional game.
It's psychologically demanding.
To me, it was way more than physical,
way more than physically demanding.
It's mentally, psychologically demanding.
And you're out there competing with each other.
And for him to right away quit what he's doing,
now as an English teacher,
as an English teacher working with children, you don't expect right away he's doing. Now as an English teacher, as an English teacher working with children,
you can't expect right away he's gonna think to help.
But he's an attorney.
Again, he didn't skip a beat to help him and say,
you know, I know he's got a bad shoulder,
which some people say, hey, maybe that's his gameplay.
So later, you know, Kevin's gonna remember he did that, which of course, I'm
sure Kevin will remember that. But it was just such an honest moment for him to do that.
It was just a beautiful, honest moment.
See, I'm so glad that we're having this conversation because we're talking about things that, you
know, I've done a bunch of other podcasts this week, but we're talking about different
things from that you saw in the episode. And I think it's interesting that you know, I've done a bunch of other podcasts this week, but we're talking about different things from that you saw in the episode. And I think it's interesting that
you brought up like two instances of people helping each other between Joe and Eva and
Kyle helping Kevin. And you talked about the journey that people took to get on the show
and you know, how hard people have to fight to get on onto the show. And isn't that interesting though,
that people fought so hard to get there
and to get this opportunity.
And then within minutes, people are helping each other
and not trying to compete with each other
of people like trying to,
okay, I'm going to try to do what's best for you.
Rob, I love it.
And again, the bios of a lot of these players,
even a lot of the guys will say,
kindness, people that treat people right.
And I'm, you know, it's a difficult game.
And I guess it tells a lot about a person.
It's the moments that you do things where, You know, it's a difficult game and I guess it tells a lot about a person.
It's the moments that you do things where I was going to say where nobody's watching.
Of course, you know, with Survivor, you don't know what's going to make it or what's not
going to make it.
But it was just a beautiful moment between those two guys for him to reach out and do
that.
And then, I mean, I've got some more moments of,
for example, when Kyle came back. So Kyle won me over immediately, of course. Kevin had already
won me over because he's adorable and just a sweetheart and guy. When Kyle gets back to his, gets off the boat,
and this is another very quick moment
that I think tells you about people,
if you're paying attention to that.
They ask him and he said, I didn't get anything.
And then Chrissy, it's Chrissy, right?
Which I believe is the oldest player oldest player. Yeah. One of the
oldest player. Where are you Chrissy? Chrissy's 50. Well,
she was 54. She's 55 now. How's Cedric? Cedric's 45. Yeah,
Chrissy's the oldest, 55. So Kyle says he didn't get
anything. And the first thing Chrissy says is, do you know what
she said?
She said, she said, that's all right.
That's all right. They probably wouldn't know how to use it anyway. As far as, you know,
Kevin got the stuff and they did. So she, Chrissy said, oh, that's okay. They probably won't know
how to use it anyway. Just blow it off and make it like a not a big deal
that Kyle didn't bring it back.
And that's looking out, you know, making Kyle feel better.
And it was just that quick that she said that,
that she seemed to care how he was feeling in that moment.
I mean, I think there's a lot of raw moments like that, that they showed
that I guess I caught on to because I think it's an important part of the game. So we
get back to Stephanie with how important it is to make, not just make alliances, but to get to know each other.
And we saw what she did.
So, you know, again, this cast is for so many reasons,
just really a special cast.
Yeah. Chrissy is somebody who I think would fit very much in old school survivor.
I feel like that she feels like a casting choice
that you might have seen in the first 10 seasons of the show.
Yes. And you know what? For some reason, I don't know why. Do you know who she gave me
vibes of? Kind of a little bit shambo. Okay, I could see a little bit of shambo. But, but
Chrissy is, I mean, what an impressive woman. She dropped out of high school, raised her son by herself,
and I don't know how many times she applied.
I mean, I think she's a paramedic and a firefighter.
I mean, she's just very accomplished.
And for her to be out there at 55, I mean, I like her.
I mean, she's got a lot of personality, she's likable.
So it's gonna to be very interesting
to see where the SEVA tribe goes with all that. I don't even believe somebody out. David, okay.
Oh, Camilla. So Camilla and Kyle bond over holes. That's what I was going to tell you,
how these alliances have formed on these three different tribes so differently, all three.
Okay, so Loggie forms because Star goes off to do her own thing. So those other four slash, you know,
whoever they pull in form. And then Say's alliance forms because she's looking for the idol. So she's trying to pull in three others.
Now that Alliance is formed.
On the other tribe at SEVA,
we see a four Alliance formed because, tell me.
Camilla told Kyle that charity was asking about
if he had an advantage.
Right. So Camilla said her alliance was formed over mistrust of charity. So how interesting
that all each alliance on every tribe, completely different. So the bond that Camilla, of course,
I already like Kyle. I like Kyle when he was helping with the water,
when he was helping my Kevin.
And so when I hear Charity talking about Kyle,
I'm like, whoa, hold up a minute.
We need to talk about this.
We need to talk about this
because you didn't see him over there helping Kevin
with the bum shoulder.
And then Camilla, who seems like a complete sweetheart,
is a complete sweetheart. All of a sudden, I didn't see this coming for Camilla.
And I have to look down here at what she said.
The sweet little sweet Camilla was talking about throwing charity under the bus.
And not only is she throwing her under the bus, she's actually been reversing the bus
and running over and over and over her again.
I'm like, come here, girl.
But it just didn't seem like it would come out of her mouth for her to say that.
So I really like, I like her.
And of course I like Kyle a lot too.
I like Mitch.
Well, I want to ask about charity though? Because Charity, your fellow flight attendant.
Yes! Okay. So Rob, Charity, yes, Charity's a flight attendant. So I was really, I'm looking
forward to seeing how her game plays out. And I was really-
Do we know what airline she flies for? You know, I had to do a lot of research with that.
Yes.
I've not heard back from Charity yet.
There's one.
Oh, she's one of the three.
There's my one.
Your colleague. Which rock?
I know.
I mean, so Rob, I know there's a reason,
if people don't want to reach back out, I get it.
I guess because I assumed not only we are in this survivor family, we do the same job,
we're in the same profession.
So I figured, hey, I'm also a flight attendant, I work here, who do you work for and all that.
Well, I knew that from her.
So I did a little research and I believe she works for Spirit.
Because in one of her promo pictures that she had out there, she's got her uniform
on.
So I had to phone a friend and say, hey, this uniform, who is this?
So I believe she works for Spirit.
I don't know because I haven't talked to her yet. And then I expected that Charity,
and maybe not fair for me to expect this,
would be all over the place with the chit chatting.
And I don't know, of course, editing does what they do,
and they're good at that.
But then they showed her sleeping under a tree
with something over her face, and I thought,
that's not what I expected to see
from our flight attendant.
I thought she'd be, you know,
but again, maybe that was just something that they-
It's early.
It's early. It's early.
So anyway, I don't know what's gonna happen there,
but I do know there's an alliance of four going over there
and she doesn't, I don't think she's into it
in that alliance, but I'll tell you what,
she's impressive too. Not because she's a flight attendant, although she lost
a hundred pounds. Yeah. And she's a fitness. I mean, she's, she's pretty big on Instagram.
So, you know, she's got a lot of followers because she's a fitness coach. So I know she's,
she's helping a lot of people and doing a lot of good work out there.
So.
Yeah.
How come Mitch isn't in that Alliance of four?
You know what?
That's a good question.
I was really surprised that I didn't see
as much of Mitch as I would have expected.
I don't know why.
Not only was he not in that Alliance,
I just thought I would have seen more of Mitch.
Let me tell you how cool Mitch is.
Not only he started watching
with the first season of Africa,
he loves endurance sports, something I learned about him.
And he just started running.
If you're a runner,
if you happen to know anybody that likes to run,
he's an endurance runner and he started running,
I think he said like two years ago,
where he went from like half marathon to marathon
to things like that.
So he's obviously not just a PE coach,
but a PE coach, it sounds like he's in good shape.
So-
Tell me about your running.
How much running do you do?
I know you run on the treadmill.
I run on the treadmill more now.
Well, actually we live down here in the country,
on these country roads. So as far as probably safety, it's better that I probably stay in the
house or in my little gym that I've got here. So yeah, running is my therapy.
Do you run marathons? I used to. I hadn't done that in a while now.
Why? You have an injury or you don't like to?
It takes a lot of training. It's one of those things, Rob, where once you do it, I've run
three marathons. I ran Atlanta twice and New York once. It was great. Just a lot of training.
You've been there, done that.
I love that about Mitch. I think Mitch is just a fascinating guy. To have him out there on this
season, it's going to be really interesting. I actually saw for next week,
which you probably have already seen,
like a little clip of Jeff talking to Mitch
when he brings them in,
I guess for whether it's the reward
or the community challenge.
I haven't seen this clip.
And I just actually saw it late this afternoon
and Jeff asked Mitch a question and Mitch has a little,
takes a little while to get his thoughts out.
And Jeff was very polite and he said,
you know, Mitch, let me ask you, he goes,
when this happens, would you rather,
this is a great question, Jeff.
It's a great question he asked him.
Would you rather someone fill in your word
because it may so, you know, or would you rather them wait
for you to get out what you're trying to say?
That's a great question.
And what do you think Mitch said?
I'm going to guess, wait.
Yes, yes, he said. What do you think Mitch said? I'm gonna guess, wait. Yes.
Yes, he said, and I might not know the answer to that.
I might feel like, cause even Mitch said,
people wanna help.
Kind of the whole thing about,
we're talking about people helping people.
Don't even get me going again,
I'm the whole people helping people.
People generally are good and people want to help. So
they want to fill in the words. But he said what he would probably prefer is to them just be patient
and let him get his thoughts out. Which is a great thing. And you know what, Rob, we've learned that
as far as in, I know Charity knows this too, as being flight attendant for, I think, 10 years. That's one of the things we learn at training with people that need assistance
because I'm one of those that always want to help, jump out, I want to help, I want to help.
But even with the people on our aircraft that may need assistance, let them ask you,
aircraft that may need assistance, let them ask you, let them ask you for assistance. And it makes sense as opposed to jumping in.
And so this is all good intentions.
It's all good intentions.
It's just, you know, what you learn.
So, you know, I think Mitch is going to, I think Mitch is going to show us a lot and
I think he's going to teach us a lot and I think he's going to teach us a lot.
So that he's out, hold on, that he's out there is very, very cool.
Have we talked about all of them?
I think we have.
Remember what Glenn said, you can't be talking about every single person out there.
Well, what else would you be Glenn?
I don't know what.
I know.
He's like, so anyway, all right, Mary.
With all due respect to Glenn, leave the podcasting to us.
Yeah, baby, come on.
Hey, I gotta be careful, cause he's my tech guy.
Yeah, okay.
Well, yeah, I always say that Glenn is my angel
with producing Talking with T-Bird.
He's wonderful.
He's great.
So anyway, we're back over here to Vula.
Oh, I know what I want to ask you, talk to you about.
Sam, are you asleep?
Sam, wake up. I need you, man.
I mean, I need you, Sam.
Put this on the soundboard.
Vula, I need my...
OK, so as soon as we're watching this episode, I looked over at Glant.
I'm like, oh, my God, Gl Glenn, do you know who he looks exactly like?
Who?
Cue the picture, Sam.
Okay.
I love Sam, I love Sam.
Look, who does this look, I looked at Glenn,
I'm like, Glenn, do you know who that looks like?
Do you know who that is, Rob?
Is that RuPaul?
Yeah.
Yeah.
That looks like Cedric.
Tell me you're done.
Hey, Rob, why are you laughing?
Hey, this one.
Man, I have to, see, without the mustache.
This is what I asked Sam.
Wait, look, look, look.
You can see it.
So I asked Sam who everybody, I'm sure, listen to this, knows who Sam is.
He's your right hand, your left hand, everything.
I'm like, Sam, that's what I need you to do.
Don't tell Rob what we're doing.
But I need you to put a picture of, of Stedrick and right beside him, I need you to put the picture of RuPaul.
Right beside him.
Once we establish this.
He said, T-Bird, I can't do that.
I'm like, what do you mean you can't do that?
You can do that.
He goes, no, I can't.
Why are you laughing, Rob?
I can't do that, T-Bird.
I think, I thought maybe by now he'd have figured it out
since we've been on the podcast.
Literally, I guess he had figured it out.
But look, I should have found another picture
without RuPaul with his mustache.
But as soon as I saw it, I was overcome with excitement.
And I'm like, I gotta get this to Rob.
Do you think it's-
Oh, I love that you thought of me for this.
Well, of course.
I don't think Cedric...
Let's face it, RuPaul is a handsome man.
He's a beautiful woman.
Undeniable.
Yes, yes.
But he's a very handsome man.
I mean, I think he looks like Cedric.
That's just what I think.
Do you think so as well?
Has nobody else said that but me? I don't think I've heard anybody say that. I can't believe that. That's crazy.
That's just crazy right there. Teeber, I think you have an exclusive on that one.
Well, I haven't talked to Cedric. Okay. That's my number two. Yeah. Well, okay. I hadn't heard
from Cedric yet, but I would have said he's not that big on Instagram.
Absolutely. He's a surgeon. Yeah. You kidding me. He's a surgeon. I don't I get it. And another thing, too, that I'm always classes, classes half full.
You know, when you send somebody a message on Instagram, I don't know if you know there's not.
If you send somebody a message on Instagram, I don't know if you know, there's not, if you send somebody a message on Instagram,
but they're not friends with you,
I get to go to a special person.
It's a separate thing, yeah.
You message them.
So of course, I don't wanna believe
there's any other reason.
Sometimes, like, you know what?
I have the messages from the people I'm friends with,
and sometimes I'll look at the other thing,
I'm like, oh my God, I can't believe,
oh, there was this message, there was this message,
so, you know, give it some time.
No, no, no, no. Absolutely.
And I think to sometimes used to being famous yet.
These people know and I would have said to Cedric and I will at some point.
I hope he he's 20 years.
Cedric's 45 and RuPaul's 64. RuPaul looks good.
But I think it's I think it's a compliment.
I think he's, I mean, I think he looks a lot like, what I do, I think he looks a lot like him. I'm
interested to see how the fans react to that. If they, if they feel like there's a connection.
All right, Mary, Mary's adorable. I love that Mary got the fire started and she was so easy.
She did, it was so easy. But then when she said,
whatever she said that she got bleeped out,
she's another one like Camilla who you just don't expect to say anything except
sweetness. And it's kind of like when, when Camilla kept, you know,
over and over and over the bus, he just didn't expect it.
The same thing was with Mary.
Mary had to get bleeped when Stephanie got voted out
Yeah, so I'm Mary's a sweetheart and
Bleep you at all on Survivor T-Bird. Oh
No, did they have to bleep you
I think they'd bleep me when I got voted out on survivor all-stars. For sure.
I get it.
Yeah.
That was a terrible injustice.
I should have.
Yes, definitely for that.
Yeah.
But I'm glad, I'm glad you didn't have any potty mouth on survivor.
I do, but, um, but Mary, little Mary, who, you know, she's a substance
abuse counselor, how fascinating is that?
I mean, that fascinates me.
That kind of work.
So I think she's gonna, and I love that her and Kevin
have pulled together.
So Kevin's sitting in a pretty good position.
He's in a good place with his alliance.
And then he's got Mary there.
We haven't really talked too much about Say
in terms of how you think that things
are gonna go for her now.
Oh, God.
Well, let me...
OK, let me just tell you this.
I can't believe I haven't even mentioned this yet.
Do you know who Say reminds me of?
I can't even imagine.
Yeah, you can.
You've heard this. You've heard this a bunch of times soon as they showed
her and you know, I love this girl so much and I've got, I've already told the emotional
story about how much, what I witnessed her do her act of kindness, which I know she does
all the time because that's who she is. Mary Ann. She talked a lot about Mary Ann here
preseason interviews. Yeah. Mary Ann is Mary Ann do in survivor. Yeah. She did it. She talked a lot about Mary Ann in her preseason interviews. Oh my gosh. Mary Ann is an angel.
What did Mary Ann do in Survivor?
Yeah, she did it when nobody was watching, except for me, down here in Atlanta when I
first met her at Ron Clark Academy, which I'll talk to you about that too later. I hope
we're going to see you this spring at Ron Clark Academy. We'll talk about that later.
Anyway, so I met Mary Ann at Ron Clark Academy, but you know, I don't know if you can remember,
but I think I did a podcast with you during that season and I was in love with her from
the beginning, right from the beginning.
I was at Erica, same thing with Erica for whatever reason.
I just gravitated to both of them.
But Mary Ann,ne loved her. When we were at Rhondt
Clark Academy, this is like an emotional podcast for me for some reason. Rob talking about all
these people doing such beautiful things. Well, we usually don't get to hear you talk so much.
We usually have to hear the guests so much. Well, that's a good point. Okay. So there is a guy,
Well, that's a good point. Okay, so there is a guy, I'm gonna,
Northy, Northy.
Northy is a big survivor fan.
He is deaf.
And he's actually reached out to me before about,
you know, the podcast that he wishes there was a way
that he could have the functions or whatever
to listen to the podcast.
But he was at Ron Clark Academy.
He lives down here in Atlanta.
He's deaf and he signs. He wanted to meet Mary Ann. And Mary Ann now was extremely popular because
I think when she was down here, she had already won. She was already big. Everybody loved her.
And she was being pulled in every direction. And the show
was getting ready to start, you know, in the auditorium on the big screen. So she had to hurry
and get in her seat. And I said, Marianne, I didn't know when other time to try to grab her
because the place was had so many people. So I just said, Marianne, I know you're so busy. Can you just come right here and meet this guy?
He was basically the only one still in the lobby.
She stopped what she was doing.
And for that moment, he was the only one in the building.
The only one in the building.
She was in no longer a hurry.
And he started signing to her
and she started signing back to him.
Oh, wow.
And I was off to the side and I thought that is a beautiful soul. That is something that you can't,
if you don't have that, if that's not in your heart, it was so sincere and so natural and
so beautiful. She's a beautiful person.
I'll never forget it.
I'll never forget it.
I'll never forget it.
Thank you for letting me hear that about Maryann.
So, Say reminds me of Maryann.
Now, I don't think Maryann was quite,
I know Maryann was assertive.
And she, but not-
Maryann is a hard player.
She has what you're talking about,
but she also is like,
we play these blood on the clock tower games with her
and she is also a killer.
She's competitor.
Yes.
She's just like Say is.
So you can't fault Say.
It's kind of like what I was thinking about Say,
who I like Say. I like that she's basically
my daughter's age and if I'm watching my daughter out there play as hard as she's playing at how
old is say 20 she was 29 when she played 30 29 year old I mean she like I said she hit the ground
running boots on the ground she She knew what she wanted.
She knew how she was going to play.
And it almost reminded me that like, like she was playing her second time.
It almost reminded me that the first time she didn't play quite as assertive.
And this time by golly, she was going to do it.
And so I admire her gameplay.
I admired watching her get the Beware advantage.
She didn't once think,
should I open this or not?
It says Beware.
No, she went right in for it, tearing it open.
And then from there, pulled in who she needed.
And she getting emotional as she's walking through,
wondering if she could pull it off.
Because if she had not have pulled it off, we may have lost her, unfortunately, because she would have lost
her vote.
She was so focused on what she was doing.
Don't we want to see players like that?
Don't you want to see somebody playing so hard. And again, she's a young, she's a young female, playing with these gentlemen
and just has so much self-confidence and determination that she's going to walk up to these three
guys and say, you know, I want you in my alliance, let's go do this. And I mean, it's admirable.
It really is. And it just depends on, I worry about them wanting to flush her idol out.
But I got a feeling she's going to figure out a way,
she's going to figure out a way, hopefully, to be safe with that.
But again, and I love that she's, what did she say?
I think she was playing for all the women in her life.
Again, to hear her say that, it's just a beautiful thing.
And I think she said that she was gonna give him hell grams.
I'm gonna give him hell grams.
She was referring back obviously to her grandma.
So I don't know how you can not like her.
I mean, of course, at the expense of Stephanie,
two completely different personalities, or so it seemed,
because even Stephanie said in her real life,
she's in charge of a lot of stuff
and she's in control of a lot of stuff.
But again, if you look at the survivor book,
before you go out there about making bonds
and doing what you need to do,
Stephanie would appear
that she would have been playing the right game
until that happened.
That's what I was gonna say.
If Stephanie would have been in an okay position,
if Starr had have been in Say's position.
Because if Starr had have been where Say was,
Starr would have taken off looking for idols by herself
and losing the trust of the group.
But because Say was smart enough to pull the guys in, she's brilliant, brilliant player for,
you know, for a 30 year old. She's 30 now. So I like her. Of course, I mean, I'm pulling for her,
but I'm pulling for so many of them. Because I like to see this game played. I'll tell you who it kind of reminds me of.
This goes back all the way to Africa with Lex. How hard Lex played the game. And this was way,
you know, season three. So season three. And Lex played so hard. And I admired his games. Well,
I admired his game so much, even though I knew he was my nemesis,
he was my kryptonite,
he was the one I had to get out
because he was that solid of a player.
Ethan played behind him,
who everybody loves Ethan, including myself.
I like to see a player that goes out
and plays the game so hard, just like Lex did, but it
costs Lex the game.
And so because Ethan was playing behind him, he was able to walk right up and take it.
Of course, because Ethan was smart enough to know he had Mama Kim as his duo.
We've got, like I said, a duo. So he had her in his back pocket.
So I wonder if Say might be one of those playing so hard
up front like my guy Lex and Say,
if you happen to be listening to this,
for me to compare you to Lex is a huge compliment
because he's quite a player.
We really haven't in the new era had a Alex win the game
They the winners have been more Ethan's than Lex's in the seven seasons that we've seen and in different in different
Versions of variations Rachel had to like win out, you know in early on she was a little bit more under the radar
But for the most part, you know, we haven't seen somebody really just like take the game
from the, you know, you know, take the reins of the game, you know, from the jump and then,
you know, get it all the way to the end.
Right.
And to see, say, do that.
And I, I, I reference her age because again, at playing at 29 years old, against a lot
of these more mature players and for her to act, not act like,
for her to know exactly what she's doing, what her journey, what her adventure is going to be.
I would much rather see a player like that play. Let's see, I don't know if I'm going to say it
like that. I'd like to, it'd be neat to see a player that plays like that get to the end.
That would be, that would be a neat thing. So I think she's going to have an uphill battle
a little bit, but hey, listen, I'm not counting Say out at all because she's figures out,
she'll figure out something. And, and anyway, I like her. So say, I hope you like that. I
compared you to Lex because I think so much respect for Lex.
You have no idea. So yeah.
Well, you played with Lex.
Well, I was in the same country as Lex.
A few times. I did see him a couple of times.
A couple. I saw him like briefly in Panama.
OK. Oh, another Georgia connection.
I mentioned star. Yes. I have, I have talked to star. Okay.
We're limited to take narrow it down to the three. I hadn't talked to, um,
she lives in Augusta, Georgia. Yeah. She lives down the street from me.
I think she said it was like a couple of hours from here.
So hopefully I'll get the chance to meet Star and I hope she stays in the game a while.
I mean she's cool too. She's you know, I hope we get to see her again. It's interesting how you
see somebody like Say take off and they're kind of close in age was they are very close in age stars 27 when she played
in SACE 29. How they both knew to go for idols except one asked for help and one didn't. So
anyway stars here in Georgia. So I hope hope to get the chance to meet her. She seems like a delight
an absolute delight. We hadn't talked about Thomas. Yes. One of the sweetheart, one of the California girls. And Shaheen.
Do you like that alliance name? Oh, yes. Don't you? Okay. So is
it, I want to make sure I'm saying this right. Is it
Shaheen? I believe it's Shaheen. Shaheen. I believe that H is silent.
Okay. Shaheen. Okay. Or the second H Shaheen. Do you know who that reminds me of? Who?
That reminds me of. Oh, um, okay. I'm gonna have to, I'm gonna have to stop a minute because I can't
remember. Oh, Omar. Omar. I was calling Omar. It's O-M-E-R Omar. It's spelled like, uh, Omar,
but it's pronounced Omar. Yeah. I love Omar, but it's pronounced Omer.
Yeah, I love Omar.
I like, love him.
Him and Mary Ann, I love them.
I love them.
I met them at the same time together.
Anyway, Omar.
So he's one of those that I would always call him
the wrong name till I ask him.
He goes, it's Omar.
Anyway, Shaheen.
He was telling me, I actually heard back from Shaheen, what a great guy. He's
got great energy. And he said that the whole survivor experience, and again, here we go
with some more beautiful things. It's brought him and his mom closer together. Now, that
is beautiful. That is beautiful. I know for me, my mom is the reason that I applied. She kept telling me to watch the show that I would love it. And of course, she was right.
But I love the fact that that's brought him and his mom close together because Survivor will do that. It will pull people together. So I like him for that. I love the California Alliance.
It kind of seems a little unlikely. And that's what I like about it so much.
Thomas is an absolute adorable, lots of fun.
If I had to look through when we talked about who I thought might win, Thomas is one of
those.
Sometimes you look at the big strong people and you think that they, of course, are going
to stand out.
And I'm not saying that Thomas is not strong,
but I would say he's probably not like a Joe
and not like a David and even Kevin with his muscles.
And he looks the type that is just so likable.
And I love that he's got an alliance,
a second alliance with Bianca.
Yeah.
You know, my little cookie girl.
Yeah.
Yeah, my cookie queen, Bianca.
So I think, I think he'll, I think he'll do well.
So yeah, I do like, I do like that.
It's going to be interesting with this Loggie tribe
to see who these guys decide to pull in for their number
four, Eva or Bianca. Because Thomas is thinking Bianca, but you know, we know Joe and Eva
and Bianca and Eva are both so likable. There's no reason not to want one over the other.
So you know, that's going to be interesting to watch with them.
What do you think?
Well, I agree with you.
I think that star seems like very much like she is going to be the first person who could
be out of that group.
But I think there is going to be a real tug of war of who gets to get brought in over.
You know, it could be maybe what breaks up the California girls.
Yeah. It could be maybe what breaks up the California girls.
Yeah, and I think, well, Eva's gonna be such a powerhouse,
though, that they're gonna wanna stay strong during this, before the tribe merge, they're gonna wanna keep
their tribe, unless they get it all,
change things up a little bit.
They just have so much strength, though.
Say it again? They have so much strength though. Say it again.
They have so much strength on that tribe.
Yeah, they do.
That's good though, right?
That is good, but you know, you could say like,
oh, well yeah, we have a lot of strong people.
We could lose a strong person.
Whereas suppose if you don't have that many strong people,
it's like, well, we can't lose this person.
That's a good point.
Yeah.
That's a good point.
But yeah, I like them and I love,
I mean, the California girls that who came up with
that Shaheen, Joe or Thomas?
I'm going to guess Shane.
I love how humble Thomas was about being brought in and seeming surprised to be pulled in by
the two other guys.
And that that was a special, a special moment for that. I really like that.
Now, I haven't mentioned Justin.
Oh, and that's another connection with you because the California girls
from the Beach Boys were going to have fun, fun, fun
till daddy takes the T-Bird away.
Hold on.
Then there's that. fun, fun, fun, until daddy takes the T-bird away. Hold on. Tight.
Then there's that. Then there's that.
Okay, so now let's talk about Justin.
I think it's Piope.
Am I saying it right?
Piope?
Justin, yes.
Justin Piope.
He seems older.
He seems not older, more mature.
He's 29.
He's 29, but he's low key. He seems very like this. Even. Even. Thank you.
I want to even kill. I like him. And I thought this would be a great question for him. I heard
back from him. And this is where I thought to myself, you know, they have a pizza. They
have a big pizza place. Family owned.
Luigi's in Revere, Massachusetts, Massachusetts. So I
thought to myself, Rob, I'm curious, since he's in this
pizza, whole pizza atmosphere. I wonder what his favorite pizza toppings would be. So I
thought to myself, I need to know that. I need to know that. And I ask you, is it worth playing for?
What Justin's favorite pizza toppings are? I believe.
Cue the music. Hold on. Here's some pizza music for.
OK. All right.
All right. We don't want to get it. We don't.
OK. So this is a short a short pizza song.
OK. Hello.
That was that was sent.
Thank you.
OK.
So I believe Justin is a vegetarian. And so I'm going to say that his favorite
pizza toppings will be peppers and mushrooms.
What kind of peppers?
Bell.
Bell peppers?
Yeah.
What you're saying? Justin, are you hearing this right now? All right. What color peppers? Yeah. That's what you're saying? Justin, are you hearing this right now?
All right.
What color peppers?
Green.
That's right.
Green pale peppers is one.
I had to say that because he's on the Green Tribe.
Yeah.
I'm impressed right now, but you just, you were smart to say to yourself, well, you said
it out loud.
He's a vegetarian.
So that pretty much took out everything I would have guessed.
I'm impressed.
I'm impressed.
I'm impressed.
I'm impressed.
I'm impressed.
I'm impressed.
I'm impressed. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. I'm impressed right now, but you just, you are smart to say to yourself, well, you said it out loud, he's a vegetarian.
So that pretty much took out everything
I would have guessed if I was trying to guess.
All right, he sent me,
there's two of his favorite toppings.
One is green peppers, green bell peppers.
What is the other?
I said mushroom, I said mushroom,
but maybe, maybe not mushroom.
Pineapple.
Hmm, onion not mushroom. Pineapple. Onion.
Yeah.
Pepper and onion that goes together.
Yeah.
So, so I want to show you this.
Justin, it's a sweetheart.
He doesn't want to deal with me, right Rob?
You've been dealing with Sam.
Why wouldn't he want to deal with you?
I kind of just say that, but you and Sam been dealing with me for almost six years now.
No, we get to deal with you.
Oh, all right. Well, okay. That was sweet. So I thought I'd already he'd already I'd
already said hello and he said, you know, he said hello. And I thought I got it. Not only did he
answer green bell peppers and onions. He sent me a whole thing about pizza.
What's the recipe?
Look, no, look at this.
Yeah.
It's so cool.
So he just said, this is interesting what he said.
Let me just, I'm gonna really fast
cause he took the time to send this to me.
He said, you can judge a lot about me.
No, no, he messaged me.
Okay.
I just wrote it down so I can share it with you.
Oh, that's your, you. Well, you were holding up the written note. I just wrote it down so I could share it with you. Oh, that's your...
Well, you were holding up the written note.
I was like, oh my God.
Do people write letters anymore?
You do.
Okay, that's true.
Okay, so for one thing, it's a pizza pie.
But he said you can judge a lot about pizza by the ingredients the shop uses.
He said it sounds corny or cheesy,
but when there are so many toppings on a pizza,
it will mask what's important,
i.e. the quality of the oil used, the tomatoes,
if cheese is shredded in-house or brought in.
I mean, who thinks of this?
I'll tell you who thinks of this.
A company that's been in business for 44 years
in Revere, Massachusetts. Not as long as T-Bird's been in business for 44 years in Revere, Massachusetts.
Not as long as T-Bird's been in Delta.
I know. Hold up. Happy anniversary, Delta.
Okay. So another thing, too, he said, just so everybody knows,
if you leave it in the oven an extra two minutes, it will get the crust,
a nice crust, and it will draw the moisture out of the vegetables.
Who knew?
This is from a pizza maker.
Is that what you want?
I don't know, but he said it.
He said it also.
I just thought I'd share it.
And he also wanted to say that every week
at Luigi's in Revere, Massachusetts,
he's having watch parties for friends and fans. I knew somebody who worked on one. fans of customers if they're looking for a
place to watch.
So that is an invitation.
You know, I'm an amateur pizza maker.
What?
Okay.
Okay.
Do you make your own dough?
I do make the dough.
Yes.
Okay.
Because you know, it's easy to buy it that you make it is very easy to buy it.
You know, I really feel like that the pizza comes out good.
But I find that I really enjoy having something to do the activity of like doing it here at the house that my younger son likes it.
It's you know, it's a it's a hit. Everybody likes it.
It's something to do.
You gotta get all the stuff out.
So it's a crowd pleaser here.
And so I enjoy it.
But Rob, probably too, the boys like it.
Well, I know why Nicole likes it.
She don't have to cook.
But the boys like it because, or maybe Nicole too,
y'all are all hands-on, so you're doing it as a family. Yes. And that is, I mean, it's so hard for family to have time together anyway, as busy
as I'm sure you and Nicole, as busy as you are. So I'm sure they love it for that. Now
your sauce, do you make your own sauce? I don't bother with making the sauce. Oh, Justin,
did you hear that? And Italians like, uh, what you, you, you make jar sauce?
You take a sauce out of the jar, forget about it.
But it's too much work.
All right, well that's okay that you make your dough
and that's a lot of work too so that you do that.
What are the topics?
Because I would think you and Nicole look like
y'all could possibly be vegetarian.
No, Nicole's, no.
I don't have to take that.
So, no, I'll...
Pepperoni is a crowd pleaser, sausage, meatball, that's all good.
But you know what I actually really do like is the barbecue chicken pizza.
You mean to buy it out somewhere or to make it at home?
I make it here, yeah.
Okay. And then you use barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce.
Oh, okay. That sounds delicious.
Yeah, it comes out very good.
I'm not running Luigi's Pizzeria over here.
Yeah, well, it sounds like you could.
But look, T-Bird, if you came over and we were entertaining, it's a great thing to do
of like, hey, let's make a bunch of pizzas.
You tell me what kind of pizzas you like and let's make a bunch of pizzas.
Let's make four or five pizzas.
And you could tell a lot about person with David.
I think David would agree.
I think you could tell a lot about somebody with what ingredients they have on their pizza.
So let me tell you what I like.
I got a feeling you would probably not wanna have this
in the house.
Okay.
With anchovies?
I love anchovies.
I've never had it.
You've never had an anchovy?
No.
Have you had a sardine?
I don't think so.
Sushi?
Yes.
Well, it's not exactly, same. I mean, it's pretty
fishy, but yeah, Glenn's not big on the anchovies at all. But I like the anchovies,
jalapeno peppers, not pickled, not pickled. Okay. Fresh jalapenos. And I like pork sausage.
Okay. So you could do the pork sausage, you could do the jalapenos, but you're probably not going
to want the anchovies. I'm not going to want the jalapenos. Oh, you're not? No.
Are you scared of jalapenos? I wouldn't say I'm scared. I just don't like them. You don't
like them? Okay. I like jalapenos. That's the neat thing, Rob. I mean, learn something
about you that you like to make pizzas. Yeah. I didn know that. Yeah, make them on the barbecue.
Like you have a green egg?
No, I don't have the green egg.
I have a stone that goes on the barbecue
and there's like a metal thing that goes on top of it.
It's not like a super fancy setup.
So you usually just do one big one for the family?
No, I look like my wife's had her whole family here over New Year's.
I made like five, I made five or six pizzas.
Well, I guess that's-
If it's just us, I'll make two.
Right.
I bet you were a hit.
It was a hit, yeah.
It was a big hit.
Yeah, like I said, if nothing else,
and you know the boys are gonna remember always
when daddy made pizzas.
So that's a neat thing. Yeah. All right. I'll tell you, it's a And you know, the boys are going to remember always when daddy made pizzas. So that's a neat thing.
Yeah. I'll tell you, it's a, you know, a cheap night also. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What do you
have with it? Do you make a salad?
No. My family, look, they're not going to eat it.
If you put spinach, I like spinach on the south on the pizza too.
No, I get my share of spinach,
but nobody is gonna eat that here.
Nicole? Nicole eats spinach.
No, she's a T-Bird.
She eats like a baby.
She doesn't eat much?
She does not really try a lot of exotic things.
She's like, okay, does she eat healthy?
No.
Really?
That surprises me.
Because she's so into fitness.
That's okay.
She can be into fitness and whatever.
That's all right.
Her secret T-bird is she often forgets to eat.
That's her secret.
Yeah, I don't think I've ever had that problem.
No, no.
But listen, we could do three hours
on some unique things about my wife. Okay. All right. Let me go back to here. I wanted
to ask you about, is it worth playing for? Yeah. What is it? What am I answering now? The question is this. The question is this.
We've got Charity, who I'm hoping to meet
one day. In the near future.
Charity, one day.
We've had some other flight attendants on Survivor
that have done quite well.
Yes.
Can you name, there's been,
name the flight attendants that they don't survive her.
Okay, besides you.
Okay.
All right, famously Todd.
Todd?
Okay.
Oh, sorry.
Okay, all right.
Then in addition to Todd,
well, Tina used to be one, right?
Tina.
Yeah.
Tina.
Yes.
And I'm trying to think of
were there more?
Was was was Erica one?
I I if she was,
I don't know it.
Yeah.
Well, which season?
All right, I'll give you a clue.
All four.
Their name starts with T
Tina Todd and
Hmm recent Terry he flies the plane not Terry mm-hmm
Not hearing person very recent who is a flight attendant I
Don't know who. In a far away land.
Well, it's not that far away.
Yeah.
Hawaii. Tiana.
Tiana from Shenzhen 47.
Yes, yes, yes.
Tiana, so the four T's.
If I missed a flight attendant on that, I'm sorry.
But that's just what I was thinking about.
The flight attendant. And a flight attendant on that, I'm sorry. But that's just what I was thinking about.
And the flight attendants generally do well.
You tell me why do the flight attendants do well?
I can tell you what I think.
Why are they doing well in survival?
I think flight attendants were kind of trained actually like Chrissy.
You know, Chrissy is a firefighter, a paramedic.
She's in a profession where she deals with a lot of people.
And I think that's, I mean, we deal with a lot of people,
a lot of personalities, even different crews.
So you have to be adaptable.
You have to be adaptable.
And if you feel a certain way,
I mean, you just kind of let it roll off your back.
I mean, that's just what you have to do.
And we know that, you know,
with passengers or with situations,
you've got to be the mediator.
You've got to be, you know,
and so I think maybe that's the reason.
I mean, you've seen, I mean, you saw how Tina played.
Certainly she fell into that, you know, she took charge and she, I mean, you've seen, I mean, you saw how Tina played. Certainly she fell into that, you know, she took charge
and she, I mean, all those things, Todd, you know.
Yeah.
That's what I think.
What do you think?
That's what I'm thinking.
What about this, T-Bird?
When you're part of a flight crew, right?
You have to be part of a small team also.
You have to trust each other.
Absolutely.
Sometimes it's like not always the same people every single day, right?
Oh, you can, every flight you could change, actually get off, get off and get another
crew, get off and get another crew.
So yes, true.
Yeah.
And you got to like get going with those people instantly.
And you got to trust everybody.
Yep.
Yep, you do.
But that's, I mean, that can be kind of a hard thing
because it reminds me of Eva,
where Eva says with her being,
my mind just went blank, autistic.
Yes. Being autistic.
She can't tell when people are telling the truth or if they're, you know,
she's direct and she, so it could kind of be one of those things of the flight attendant. If you're
out there and you're not, like for me, thinking everybody's going to be honest with you or going
to be part of the team, that's kind of something you have to separate. That was kind of hard for me.
of something you have to separate. That was kind of hard for me. If somebody tells me something Silas, then I want to believe it. So, you know, I think that makes it again for Eva,
I'm sure it makes it a lot trickier because, you know, and that's kind of, I think, the human
nature with probably with flight attendants. What do you think? I mean, I think, the human nature with probably with flight attendance.
What do you think?
I mean, I think that makes sense.
I mean, you're the expert.
You would tell me.
Well, I just think more than that, we're adaptable with different personalities and we work with
different crews.
And sometimes you'll work with somebody like, oh, Lord, oh, Lord, oh, Lord.
I just want to say, oh, Lord, that's what I'm going to say.
Oh, Lord.
And then I know, well, you know, after this flight, just do what you do.
Where some people, some flight attendants working with the same person on the same crew
may approach them and say, and I'm like, why would you do that?
It's just not worth it.
So you kind of think it's, you have to read the room.
Read the room.
I think flight attendants can read the room. Read the room. I think my tenants can read the room.
This which is where I'm curious to see what Charity does.
Since I kept showing her under a tree,
I'm thinking, no, that's not Charity.
Well, a lot of people picked her to win
and she got off to a slow start.
So we'll see if she can bounce back.
I didn't know that.
I didn't see anything about who people had picked.
I was thinking, no, I'm not gonna say
that I was thinking the guy might win this one. There's a lot of great females. There's a lot of great guys. There's a lot of great guys.
Did we talk about every person? I believe so. Much to Glenn's chagrin, I believe we did.
I think we did too because I'm wondering if there's anything special I wanted to say, because I think they're like.
I think you got everybody.
Don't laugh, seriously.
Just think, no, no, no, no,
I'm looking just really, really quickly.
Oh, Jeff, let's talk about Jeff for a minute.
Yeah.
Jeff, so in the hands of the fans.
Yes, season 50.
Jeff had on a black shirt instead of light blue.
Yeah, you want to vote on that? Should the fans vote on a black shirt instead of light blue mm-hmm yeah yeah you want to vote on that the fans what color shirt nice well in the hands of the fans what color shirt should Jeff wear for season 50 mm-hmm
and people like blue yeah I think we're used to seeing him in blue I think it's
great you know that we're that he's letting people haven't the fans have a
say I think that will pull I mean, the fans have a say.
I think that will pull.
I mean, people are probably already pulled in.
I mean, it's still a very popular show.
Did I mention casting?
Did I mention unsung heroes who I think are just-
You sung them.
They're not unsung anymore.
Who I think are like unbelievable, yeah.
Okay, are you ready to put up the landing gear?
You mean put it down? Yeah, we're gonna bring this podcast down to the ground? You mean
put it down? Is that what we say? If you pull it up, you're taking off. Okay. Put it down.
If you gotta put it down. I mean mean we put it down pretty hard here tonight
I think we did yes, but did I mention that I love this cast? Yes, you did
No, and you did such a great job tonight
T-bird going through everybody and talking about some things that even after all these
podcasts and all this conversation things that I wasn't even thinking about
well, I
Think it's going to be interesting. I'm already again, I mean, I knew we were going to do this podcast. So I really
wanted to know about. You did your homework. Well, I thought
it was important for them. I thought it was important for them.
And, you know, I'd love to see, I think there's a lot of duos.
Didn't Jeff say, I thought I heard this was gonna be
a season of duos.
A season of duos, he talked about that,
but they don't all work out, he said.
Yeah, and I think we've seen that.
We mentioned Eva and Joe, Camilla and Kyle,
Thomas and Bianca, who else?
Kevin and Mary.
Oh, well there's Kevin, Cedric, and Justin.
I mean, there's just a lot of little groups that,
I mean, it seems like within three days,
these people really bonded.
It seems-
They're off to the races.
It seems like sincerely bonded.
So yes, I'm excited, very excited.
Hey Rob, guess what?
My mom, and I know we're coming down,
we're putting the landing gear down.
My mom has said a few
times that she's been listening to you. Oh, I know. So she was saying something about,
and I want to clarify this because sometimes mama hear stuff, but it's not quite the same.
Okay. All right. Second hand did T birds mom that T bird with that. She might be our, our,
if I was going to rank all the listeners, she, that she might be like on if I was gonna rank all the listeners,
she might be like on one end.
Yeah, she actually said,
did you know that Rob was his wife
to be on Deal or No Deal?
I said, really mom?
He goes, yes, he said that in a podcast.
What's your mom's name?
Can I shout her out?
Oh yeah, Edna.
Edna.
And will she listen to this?
Well, she will if I send it to her, I'll say, yeah, yeah, she will. If she's listening to the other podcast, it would be very rude, Edna, if you didn't listen
to TeeBirds podcast. Yeah, she will. She's the one that said this.
So she and I'm like, mama, Rob says to her, yeah, you're boss. You're a boss, Rob. I'm
like, okay. I remember I wrote it down.
I'm thinking I'm going to ask him this because I'm not sure.
She kind of takes things and goes in a different direction with it.
OK, clarify, please.
Would I like my wife to go on Deal or No Deal Island? Sure.
Oh, does she want to do it?
I don't think she even knows what it is, but I think she would go.
That's like a vacation deal or no deal island.
Did you mention it on a podcast?
I must have, yeah.
Oh, you don't remember it?
I don't remember it specifically, but it sounds like something I would say.
Okay, so she said that.
I wanted to get clarity on that.
Hey, what about, I haven't watched White Lotus yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Traders. Yeah, what about that, T-B lotus yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Traders. Yeah. What about that?
T bird? Would you go to the traders? I'm loving traders. I love traders.
I love it. Any time in Scotland.
I have never been to Scotland. And that's one place Glenn really, really, really wants to go.
But I've never been to Scotland. We fly there in the summer. Delta flies to Scotland in the summer.
I need to make that happen. but anyway, I love it.
I love the whole, and you know what, Rob,
this is what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking, I told you how to me,
survivor is psychologically extremely difficult.
I would almost like to think, or like to say
that I think that traders is probably even more difficult.
I haven't asked Carolyn that. What do you think? I would think it would really...
I think I've seen her say that she thought it's harder than survivor.
That's what Carolyn said?
I believe so.
That would...
You'd be so good at the traders.
Well, I don't know...
Because you make your trader.
I don't know about that, but when you come to the point where you have to, you know,
anyway, I'm really enjoying it.
Lex had no idea you were the trader.
My time on Africa would have been a whole lot shorter had Lexa found out about that.
Yeah, hey, I gotta show you Rob, I got a new addition to my survivor shrine.
See right here, I don't know if it's to your left or right,
I've got my Survivor Africa torch.
You've got the torch.
Okay, let me ask you this, DeBurke.
Did a person reach out to you to sell you your torch? I can't wait to tell this very short story.
Canada Pop Sports, and he's on Twitter, Canada Pop Sports had my torch.
And he had my torch from the very beginning.
He had it.
It was in, he's like a sports, what do you call it?
Memorabilia. Sports memorabilia.
So he bought it.
For some reason, I don't know if he reached out to me,
but somebody did and told me they knew where it was.
And I knew it was in good hands.
I never reached out.
But then somebody last spring or last whenever, last summer,
after we did talk it with T-Bird, after that,
somebody reached out to me and said,
this gentleman has your torch
and he's got it posted to sell it.
And I thought to myself, I gotta reach out.
So they never gave me information.
I'm thinking that's kind of a big deal.
My torch, do you have your torch?
So T-Bird, how much do you have to pay to get it?
We'll get there.
Okay, yeah. So I don't have my torch, but recently, like within the last two weeks,
I never heard anything ever about my torch.
Somebody reached out to me on Facebook that they wanted to sell me my torch.
Do you think it's real or a scam?
I think it's real.
Did he or she send you a picture?
Yes.
Okay, so you believed it.
From which one?
Amazon or All Stars?
Amazon.
Okay, which probably is the one you've pie with.
Yes, yes.
More sentimental.
All right, so I reached out to this gentleman.
His name is Jason.
I know he's not gonna mind me saying this. His name is Jason. I said, Jason, I hear you've got my torch and I'm
just curious to see, you know, what, you know, what you're wanting for it. And I'm here I am.
I'm going to get emotional for sure on this one. Jason told me that he had bought the torch back
when his daughter, him and his daughter were watching Africa together and she had health problems.
She had health problems.
And it pulled them together, watching Africa.
They said, my daughter now is 26.
It has served our purpose for our family.
It needs to be in your family.
He gave me my torch for nothing.
Wow. He sent it to me. He gave me my torch for nothing.
He sent it to me.
Kindness.
I mean, I would have paid for the torch.
He paid for the torch.
He didn't want anything.
He just said, it's now, it's to be in your family now.
So I said, Jason, I will not sell this torch, not that anybody would want to buy it. I said, I will not sell this torch.
I said, now what my kids do with it when I'm gone,
that's a whole nother story.
And I said, but thank you.
Very, very kind.
T-Pers, that is so much better than my story.
Tell me your story.
Yeah.
I was connected with somebody from a survivor alumni
that they have my torch.
I said, okay.
I connected with this person on Facebook
and they asked me like, hey, I've got the torch.
Like, are you interested?
Yeah, I'm interested.
And I asked, well, how much do you want for it?
And they said, well, let me turn it around and ask you
how much is it worth to you?
They said, and they said, my guy,
not as much as you think it is.
OK. And the the price point was expensive.
I'm trying to put it in without getting into,
let me see, I think I could have bought a major appliance
for my house for the amount of money
and it's like not worth it to me.
It would be nice to have, but-
Okay, I'm gonna guess and you don't have,
if you're not coming-
Yeah, all right, you can ask.
I'm gonna say they were asking between 45 to $5,000.
Not that much, so about 2,500 for my torch.
Yeah.
That is what I-
I said my wife would leave me instantly if I told her I spent $25,000 on my survivor torch
Wow
Not that much to me. Well
Well, I don't expect I mean I didn't expect for him to send it to me
I mean I didn't expect that but but another thing about Jason with Canada pop sports
He also said to me, T-Bird,
oh gosh, I need two people. He said, I also have Nick Brown's torch.
Okay. You know, oh God,
there's one more. Oh, I'm going to be... I wish this guy had my torch.
I know. He said, I'd like to give Nick his torch as well. And the other, and I, of course,
this is when we had, I had just gotten
to know Nick from doing Talking with T-Bird. So this is when he's all in his campaign. Cause it
was last summer, right after we had talked with them, I said, Nick, I just got my tour from this
gentleman, sweetheart. And he would like for you to have your torch as well. He's, you know, I just
paid for the shipping. Yeah. Whatever. Okay. That's fair. Oh, right. So well, I I just paid for the shipping. Yeah. Okay, that's fair.
Oh, right. So, well, I would have paid for the torch, but anyway. So, I need to follow
up with Nick now that he's probably slowed down a little bit from the election to make
sure he followed through because I know Nick did want it.
Yeah.
Of course you want Australia, your torch from Australia. I need to follow up with that. Can I tell you the annoying thing though?
That the ultimate buyer is gonna end up like,
who's gonna spend more than I was for this?
Well, Rob, really?
I don't know.
I think you'd be surprised.
I mean, you're-
I mean, I don't know.
Like, what do you-
You have to agree with this, and you don't have to agree.
Just sit on your hands.
Look, sit on your hands right now.
Stephanie telling to sit on his hands.
You're an icon in the survivor community.
No, no, no, you're in your hands.
You're an icon in the survivor community.
And what you've done, I'm not even gonna get emotional again.
This has been an emotional
night. You have brought this community together in ways more than just me reaching out to
these 18 people. You have touched so many lives over all these years. And yes, I believe
somebody would pay more for that torch than you would.
All right. Well, then they can happen. It means it means more to them than it does to me.
Okay. So anyway.
Now my microphone.
Do what?
Now if I sold my microphone.
Yeah, but yeah, that's well, not the same. Okay. So talk about T-Bird.
I got an older one.
So talk about T-Bird. You're probably finished talking with T-Bird for now.
We haven't talked about it coming back this summer for seasons.
Are you retiring?
Well, I don't know.
I was going to say, should we do it in the hands of the fans?
Let me tell you why.
Just quickly, everybody, anybody that's listened to talk about T-Bird, I would say, knows we
have a do not fly list.
Yes. Okay. We have a do not fly list.
Yes, okay.
So I started thinking with all this
in the hands of the fans.
Sometimes it'll work out for you,
and I guess sometimes it won't.
Should we bring back some of these people
that I've asked you about through the years
that I've actually had people say,
T-Bird, who are some of the people
in the do not fly list?
I'm like, mm, mm, mm.
Maybe we should put it in the hands of
the fans to see if we can have them on here or not. Just, just a suggestion.
Just a suggestion. Okay. Just something for you to vote on people.
I said, do not call for talking with you bird.
Just what, you know, people probably want that. I'll just say this. People
wonder, well, why would Rob have somebody on the do not call list?
I'm like, well, he's just not sure.
Not sure what direction they might go in.
And guess what?
We have had one or two that have gone off in a different direction.
Have I been wrong, T-Bird?
When I say T-Bird, I don't know about this person.
You're like, Rob, trust me, this person's gonna be great.
I'm like, OK.
You can't see my little list here.
I've got four names that you said no go.
Yeah.
But I got them because the first two were like an accident.
Yeah.
I'm not gonna say them out loud.
The first two, it was an accident.
I got them because I was gonna surprise you
and you're like, T-Bird.
Yeah.
I don't even remember who the people are that I said no to.
Give me one of them.
Tell me one of the people.
Out loud?
Sure.
Give me their initials.
S, R.
S-R, okay.
It was a season that I thought I was gonna be on.
Okay, yeah, I hear you.
Okay, he was fabulous.
The fans loved him.
I remember it went beautifully.
It really, really went well.
And you want one more?
Sure.
These are the people we actually did talk to. We did, but
you weren't sure. I was like, I don't know how it's going to go. Well, this next one,
you didn't know I reached out. I was doing it because I like to surprise you. Yes. And
then I realized that Rob will make sure I know now he does not like surprises. No, he
does not like surprises. The next one's initials are Z. Well, yes. Well, famously. Yeah. Thailand.
Yes. And I think that went well. I think it brought y'all together. I think it was good.
Yeah, I think it was good. It was good. And then, well, there was one that you said not
to get, and then you told me to go ahead and get them. And now that was a disaster. And
I'm like, I'm not going to mention that. that went in all kind of directions. I don't know what
happened. I don't know what happened. It was like it's like look Rob it was like popcorn
all over the place like here. It was just going in all kind of directions. So anyway.
Okay. All right. Well T-Bird you've done it once again. You did a great job tonight.
Yes. You have an idol. What is that?
I forgot to show you this. I was glad I found it through all the popcorn down here on the
desk. This looks just like the idol that say pulled out. Can you see it? That say pulled
out.
It's just like the hidden immunity idol. It was in my desk.
It's a key chain.
I thought, there it is right there.
So anyway, I just wanted to,
I want to show you that.
So say in honor of you, good job on the idol.
There it is.
Looks like that.
Okay.

I was like, it's from Zoe!
Well, because, okay, Zoe wanted your name.
Do you know what's... I probably shouldn't tell you this.
Do you know what Zoe sent me?
What?
Lobsters. Wow.
Fresh lobsters from Maine.
Look at you, T-Bird.
Well, but Rob.
Oh, that is a crummy T-shirt that doesn't fit.
No, it was a special T-shirt.
She loves you.
